Abstract:
Is the specter of death the greater motivator of life? And, without that specter, would humans lack motivation to work and achieve? In this work of philosophical short story fiction, Peter wakes up to a warning from his computer that the nanites in his grandmother’s body are failing, and she is slowly dying from kidney failure. He spends the morning working to find the source of the sickness and issues. After some work, he realizes that the nanites are producing a product that is slowly poisoning his grandmother; it’s murder! He goes to his 150-year-old grandmother’s house to tell her, only to find out she knows about the issues, and she is the one who created them. Even though she is the creator of the nanites, and is a celebrity scientist of sorts, she has come to the conclusion that without the fear of death, humans lack motivation to excel.

Abstract:
Nanorobotics Nanorobotics is a technology for making machines, robots in nanometer scale. More specifically, nanorobotics largely refer to the still-hypothetical technique of nanotechnology in the design and construction of nanoparticles and devices that range in size from 0.1-10 micrometers and are constructed from own molecular components or the molecules like DNA. However, it is still a hypothetical idea. Terminology such as nanobots, nanoids, nanites, nanomachines, or nanomites are also being circulated to describe these devices under research and development. A new technique in medicine will open up new avenues of hope for cancer patients. This technique relies on cell differentiation and the destruction of cancer cells without destroying body cells in less than 24 hours Unlike destructive chemotherapy, this technique is based on a new science called "Nanotherapy", specifically Nano robots. The aim of this descriptive minireview, generally, is to shed light on the main Applications of Nanorobotics as Antitumornew strategies.

Abstract:
Nanorobotics is the technology of creating robots at nanoscale. Specifically, nanorobotics refers to the hypothetical nanotechnology engineering discipline of designing and building nanorobots, devices ranging in size from 0.1-10 micrometers and constructed of molecular components. On this concept of artificial non-biological nanorobots, many research centers are performing the research activities. The names nanobots, nanoids, nanites or nanomites have also been used to describe these hypothetical devices. They are applied in advanced medical applications like diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, early detection and treatment of cancer, cellular nonosurgery and genetherapy. A few generations from now someone diagnosed with cancer might be offered a new alternative to chemotherapy. A doctor practicing nanomedicine of chemotherapy would offer the patient an injection of a special type of nanorobot that would seek out cancer cells and destroy them, dispelling the disease at the source, leaving healthy cells untouched unlike the traditional treatment of radiation that kills not only cancer cells but also healthy human cells. Radiation treatment may also cause hair loss, fatigue, nausea, depression, and a host of other symptoms. Thus in nanorobotics, the extent of the hardship to the patient would essentially be a prick to the arm. A person undergoing a nanorobotic treatment could expect to have no awareness of the molecular devices working inside them, other than rapid betterment of their health. A major advantage that nanorobots provide is durability, as they could last for years. The operation time would also be much lower because their displacements are smaller. Hence reduced material costs, accessibility to previously unreachable areas are the motivating factors. Thus our review explains that the designing and testing of primitive devices and their potential applications promise rich benefits for patients, medical personal, engineers, and scientists.

Abstract:
The current article deals with the urgent problems of introducing such educational discipline as "Educational robotics" into the curriculum of educational institutions. The article also considers the necessity of special training of pre-service teachers of informatics for teaching educational robotics at school and inclusion of a number of specialized educational disciplines, such as "Educational Informatics", "Robotics", "Hardware programming of microcontrollers" into their professional training. Moreover, the text of the article depicts the results of the diagnostic experiment started in 2013 on the basis of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky (Odessa, Ukraine) within the framework of the discipline "Programming of microcontrollers". The aforementioned course is taught for students of full-time and parttime studying in the specialty "Secondary Education (Computer Science)". The article highlights the positive aspects of the influence of teaching educational robotics at school and during professional training of pre-service teachers of informatics. In addition, the text highlights the experience of participating in the "Build Your Own AVR JTAG ICE Clone" project, which had been devoted to the study of the AVR JTAG controller. In the framework of the project participants were asked to explore the possibility of simplifying the architecture of this controller. While working on project implementation, we were given the task of making it easier to create an in-circuit debugger. The results of participation in this project were extended and continued in the framework of scientific degree work of students in the scientific direction "014 Secondary Education (Informatics)". According to the goals and objectives of the international project, taking into account the experience of working on the project "Build Your Own AVR JTAG ICE clone", the experience of cooperation with the NANITES Group and taking into account own pedagogical and methodological experience in accordance with the training needs and market demand in the framework of MoPED: Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP implementation we have created a program of educational discipline "Educational Robotics" which structure is described in the article.

Abstract:
The use of digital models of cultural heritage objects obtained from 3D scanning or photogrammetry requires the development of strategies in order to optimise computational resources and enhance the user experience when they are used in interactive applications or virtual museums. Through a case study, this work compares an original photogrammetric model with its optimised version using traditional remeshing techniques and an improved version using Nanite technology, developed by Epic Games. A self-contained executable is created in Unreal® 5.1 game engine to test the performance of the three models measured in frames per second (FPS). As a result, it was demonstrated that, although there is no substantial difference in the FPS rate, the Nanite technology avoids the need to perform the mesh and texture editing processes that lead to the construction of the optimised model. This saves considerable time and specialised effort, as the photogrammetric model can be converted to a Nanite object automatically. This would be a great advantage in the case of virtualisations of large collections of heritage objects, which is a common case in virtual museums.

Abstract:
The first workers produced by an ant queen with a claustral founding mode are much smaller than the workers after the second generation and are thus called “nanitics.” These nanitics shoulder the initial fate of the colony and thus may be different morphometric morph from the other workers in mature colony to optimize the survival of their own colony. We report here that, in the ant Camponotus obscuripes Mayr, the allometric rules of the nanitics are different from those of other workers in mature colonies, suggesting that the nanitics constitute an independent caste as with soldiers or queens in other species. In addition, the antennae of the nanitics show the minimum absolute length-difference with the mother queen compared to the other traits measured. This result suggests that this small size difference enables C. obscuripes nanitics to communicate with the other members of the colony. Our results indicate that polymorphic societies affect the growth rules of workers.

Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most widespread malignancy in women worldwide. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) have proven effective in the treatment of cancer. NLCs loaded with imatinib (IMA) (NANIMA) were prepared and evaluated for their in vitro efficacy in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The hot homogenization method was used for the preparation of NANIMAs. An aqueous solution of surfactants (hot) was mixed with a molten mixture of stearic acid and sesame oil (hot) under homogenization. The prepared NANIMAs were characterized and evaluated for size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, release studies, stability studies, and MTT assay (cytotoxicity studies). The optimized NANIMAs revealed a particle size of 104.63 ± 9.55 d.nm, PdI of 0.227 ± 0.06, and EE of 99.79 ± 0.03. All of the NANIMAs revealed slow and sustained release behavior. The surfactants used in the preparation of the NANIMAs exhibited their effects on particle size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, stability studies, and release studies. The cytotoxicity studies unveiled an 8.75 times increase in cytotoxicity for the optimized NANIMAs (IC50 = 6 µM) when compared to IMA alone (IC50 = 52.5 µM) on MCF-7 breast cancer cells. In the future, NLCs containing IMA will possibly be employed to cure breast cancer. A small amount of IMA loaded into the NLCs will be better than IMA alone for the treatment of breast cancer. Moreover, patients will likely exhibit less adverse effects than in the case of IMA alone. Consequently, NANIMAs could prove to be useful for effective breast cancer treatment.

Various ratios of conductive multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were added to the polyamic acid (PAA) to prepare polyimide / carbon nanotube (PI/CNTs) composites by spin coating and four-step thermal curing. The studies were divided into two parts. First, we expected to reduce the surface resistance to minimize electrostatic effect by using plasma surface treatment of these PI/CNTs composite. The electrical conductivity of PI/CNTs nanocomposites was obtained by Super Megohmmeter. When the plasma power is increased to 100W, the resistance of the composites is significantly reduced. Moreover, through the plasma treatment, a small amount of carbon nanotubes can not only reduce costs, but also meet electrostatic charge (ESC) criterion. In the second part of this study, the surface chemical modified CNTs by the coupling agent can further improved the compatibility and dispersion in the PI matrix. We found the optimal ratio of coupling agent to carbon nanotubes in the sol - gel experiment. The analysis of FTIR and ESCA proved the successful chemical modification of the CNTs surface by the coupling agent. There is more evidence provided by the TEM. Results of TGA and universal testing machine revealed that higher ratio of silane coupling agents to carbon nanotubes increased the thermal stability and mechanical properties. However, conductivity measurements showed that less amount of silane couple agent was necessary to effectively reduce the surface resistance.

Braz, Emanuel António de Araújo. "Timoroan: National Identity in Timor-Leste." Thesis, 2014. https://vuir.vu.edu.au/38979/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis explores the multidimensionality of contemporary Timoroan as reflection of the narratives of politics and history that engulfed Timor-Leste since the 1500s and that in many respects continues to this day to inform who the Timoroan are and what Timor-Leste is. Timor-Leste is a proud nation and the Timoroan have every right to be proud, there is much to be proud of, but unfortunately this confidence and pride has been chipped away by almost 500 years of occupation, pillage, manipulation, oppression and death. That contemporary literature continues to perpetuate the Timoroan as conflict prone, or poor, or fragile, and underdeveloped shows how history serves the strong and the dominant rather than the less strong and more accepting. Timor-Leste is shaped by its history that has taken over the lives of the Timoroan for half a millennium and distracted the Timoroan from its destiny and purpose still being defined today and into the future. One cannot look at the Timoroan and Timor-Leste today without deconstructing what close to 500 years of forced occupation does to a people and the spiritual, ideological, physical and environmental ecology of an island. This thesis approaches the narratives of the Timoroan and Timor-Leste from a purely Timoroan academic perspective and in this regard this thesis looks at the history of colonialism and invasion and its impacts on the Timoroan from the other side of the fence, that is from the side of the Timoroan, from inside-out. This thesis also (de)constructs the Timoroan from the lived experiences and worldviews expressed by the respondents of this research study about what is like to live in cultural context and in contemporary Timor-Leste society and as part of the Timor-Leste Nation-State into the future.

Abstract:
After Fukushima nuclear power generation plant accident disaster, all of residents in the area contaminated by radioactivity, and all public facilities are evacuated to surrounding regions or more remote cities by central government’s directions. So refugee temporary housing estates are scattered and aged people left there after six years since the disaster. Namie town is the biggest one in these area. City of Nihonmastu is typical Japanese castle town city and adjacent to contaminated area, and accepted many Nanie refugees, temporary housings, town office and schools, hospitals and industry site, so on. Fukushima Namie Recovering Project team, organized by NPO Shinmachi-Namie and Waseda university, proposed Network-community connecting several refugee housing estates, evacuated public facilities and other city cores. It is necessary to connect them and reintegrate their community facilitating “supporting system for network community” in practice. This vision of Network-community would be adapted to the historical stable region, which involves various dispersed, aged and isolated communities. Nihonmatsu, as the Castle Town City of Nakadori-region in Fukushima prefecture, attracts people’s attention by its historical urban areas, old streets and lots of unoccupied housing and so on. That is, it is very hard to let Nihonmatsu people think optimistically about the shelter for Namie evacuees. Nevertheless, the areas of Nakadori region including Nihonmatsu may cooperate with the Namie evacuee and energize the ruined coastline by “Network Community” – the network that encompasses various historical traditions that still exist today as the regional resources; thus, the vision of future Fukushima is expectable.
