Abstract:

Japanese New Wave filmmaker Nagisa Ōshima repeatedly tackled Japan’s cultural and systemic discrimination toward Koreans in his films. The “Korean problem” is a complex issue that stems from a storied history between the two countries. However, Ōshima was undaunted at the task of confronting his Japanese audience with challenges to their potential biases. Ōshima incorporated essay film techniques in his films Forgotten Soldiers (1963), Diary of Yunbogi (1965), Death by Hanging (1968), and Three Resurrected Drunkards (1968) to disrupt the illusion of film and encourage self-reflection among the audience.

Abstract:

The article is dedicated to the analysis of pornographical genre conventions in Nagisa Ōshima’s In the Realm of the Senses (1976). Many of the previous scientific inquiries into this subject emphasized the subversive nature of certain narrative schemes adopted in the film, which disrupted the paradigm of phallic authority, typical for the genre. The author aims to broaden those observations and to answer the following question: can the portrayal of the female protagonist in Ōshima’s film — in the light of contemporary standards of pornography — be viewed as emancipated? In order to resolve this issue, the article concludes with a comparison between In the Realm of the Senses and Anne W. Eaton’s model of a feminist pornographic film.

En 1956 se estrenaron en Japón tres largometrajes basados en novelas de Shintaro Ishihara. Su éxito originará una serie de películas, antesala de la Nuberu Bagu: un joven cine encaminado a la transformación radical del séptimo arte y de la sociedad japonesa, cuyos representantes se muestran muy críticos con su tiempo. Los trabajos innovadores que realizaron estos jóvenes cineastas autorizaron a algunos críticos a reconocer en ellos la vanguardia de una Nueva Ola. El ejemplo más distinguido de esta desviación hacia posiciones radicales lo proporcionó Nagisa Oshima con sus Historias crueles de juventud (1960). Comparten estos jóvenes cineastas parecido interés por la exploración formal, encaminado a la renovación del lenguaje; un movimiento radical y revolucionario, orientado a practicar una nueva lectura.

Abstract:

The rocky shore of Punta Este, Golfo Nuevo (Patagonia, Argentina), was sampled by means of the standardized NaGISA (CoML) protocol, that was aimed to generate biodiversity baseline data in six levels, from high intertidal to 10 m depth. Based on the generated data, we analysed the benthic assemblage structure, species richness, mean abundance and the distribution pattern of invertebrate functional groups, typifying species in each intertidal and subtidal level. The intertidal sampled is exposed to extreme physical conditions higher than any other rocky shore system studied, with air temperature variation of 40°C during the year, maximum winds of 90 km/h and semidiurnal tides of 5 m amplitude; on the other hand subtidal presents less thermal variation (ΔT 10°C throughout the year) and more homogeneous physical conditions. We identified 64 taxa represented by six animal phyla: Mollusca, Arthropoda, Annelida (Polychaeta), Echinodermata, Cnidaria and Nemertea; and three algal phyla: Chlorophyta, Rhodophyta and Heterokontophyta (class: Phaeophyceae). Ordination non-metric multidimensional scaling plots showed three different assemblages in terms of species composition (intertidal, subtidal 1 m level and subtidal 5–10 m levels). The intertidal was represented by suspension feeders, mainly Mollusca. The tiny mussels Brachidontes rodriguezii and Brachidontes purpuratus, and the algae Corallina officinalis dominated the intertidal and promote positive interaction (amelioration), preventing other species from the extreme physical stress. The subtidal was mainly represented by grazers. Our results showed a tendency of suspension feeders to decrease and grazers and predators to increase from high intertidal to subtidal, probably driven by decreasing physical stress. The gastropod Tegula patagonica, the sea urchins Arbacia dufresnii and Pseudechinus magellanicus and the invasive algae Undaria pinnatifida were the most abundant species in 1 m–10 m levels. Based on previous work performed in the region, we hypothesize that the differences registered between intertidal and subtidal levels could be explained in part by an increase in physical stress at the intertidal, with low predation pressure that promotes positive interactions, while in the subtidal the increase in consumers and decrease of physical stress could lead to associational defences. Our results could be useful as baseline data to develop a sustainable network for long-term monitoring of benthic community changes due to anthropogenic activities.

Abstract:

Although ascidians form a conspicuous part of sessile assemblages in the Caribbean, no specialized inventories have been developed in Venezuela, except for a list of 15 species reported from Margarita Island (1984). Here we present the results of a taxonomic workshop held in the Universidad de Oriente, Boca del Rio, Margarita Island during April 20-25 of 2009, sponsored by the NaGISA-Caribbean Sea program. La Restinga National park was surveyed and we found 29 species belonging to 19 genera and 10 families. The most abundant colonial species were Clavelina oblonga, Aplidium accarense, Polyclinum constellatum, Distaplia bermudensis, Symplegma rubra, S. brakenhielmi, Botrylloides nigrum and Ecteinascidia turbinata. Among the solitary ascidians Phallusia nigra, Ascidia curvata, Microcosmus exasperatus, Styela canopus, Styela sp.1 and Styela sp. 2 were the most abundant. The ascidian diversity in this lagoon is one of the highest for similar habitats in the Caribbean and seven species are new registers for Venezuela (Ascidia curvata, Ecteinascidia styeloides, Aplidium accarense, Distaplia stylifera, Trididemnum orbiculatum, Symplegma rubra, and S. brakenhielmi). One point of concern for the conservation of la Restinga National Park is the presence of possible introduced species, and some management procedures are suggested.

Abstract:

Stabilnost traktora osim uzdužnog i poprečnog kuta stabilnosti podrazumijeva i sigurnost sidrenja traktora pri privitlavanju drva. Privitlavanje predstavlja vuču drvnih sortimenta po tlu od mjesta izrade u sječini do šumskog vozila za privlačenje drva opremljenog sa šumskim vitlom. Kod određenog graničnog tovara i nagiba terena dolazi do narušavanja uzdužne stabilnosti šumskog vozila s vitlom. Pri tome je faktor prijanjanja skidera i traktora sa podlogom važan pokazatelj mogućnosti sigurnog i pravilnog privitlavanja drva. Na osnovi općeg izraza za faktor prijanjaja skidera na ravnom terenu određen je faktor prijanjanja pri privitlavanju drva na nagibu te prikazan dinamički model opterećenja šumskog vozila pri privitlavanju drva. U rezultatima su prikazane granične horizontalne komponente sile u užetu i granične mase tovara u slučaju privitlavanja drva skiderom Ecotrac 120 V. Prema dobivenim vrijednostima graničnih horizontalnih komponenti sila u užetu može se zaključiti da je upravo stabilnost vozila definirana pomakom vozila u nazad granični uvjet privitlavanja drva. Prikazani model privitlavanja drva na nagibu prikazuje temeljni princip za određivanje graničnih tovara i nagiba terena, a koji se može lako prilagoditi ostalim uvjetima privitlavanja drva pri različitim položajima vozila i pravcima privitlavanja drva s obzirom na stvarne eksploatacijske uvjete.

This volume of Acta Linguistica Asiatica is dedicated to the area of teaching Asian languages in non-native surroundings. It is our great pleasure to announce 9 research papers on language teaching and articulation covering a wide-area of Central and Eastern Europe. The papers show us a map of Asian language teaching sites, including secondary and tertiary education, and their background systems.In her work “Poučevanje tujih jezikov v slovenskem šolskem sistemu: prostor tudi za japonščino?”, which opens the present volume, Bronka STRAUS outlines the picture of Slovene educational system. The paper reminds us that language teaching when taught as a curricular course, must be incorporated into the country’s system.The article »Chinese as a Foreign Language in Slovene Upper Secondary Education and Outline of Curriculum Renewal«by Mateja PETROVČIČ proposes a dynamic curriculum reform in secondary education mostly but targets tertiary education as well.The next article, authored by Nagisa MORITOKI ŠKOF and named »Learner Motivation and Teaching Aims of Japanese Language Instruction in Slovenia«, discusses main aims and objectives to teaching Japanese at secondary level education, and looks into the ways of how to find the place for Japanese language teaching in Slovene language curricula.Kristina HMELJAK SANGAWA in her paper “Japanese Language Teaching at Tertiary Level in Slovenia: Past Experiences, Future Perspectives” gives an introduction to the history and contents of Japanese language teaching in tertiary education in Slovenia.Following are the two articles concern teaching Asian languages in Serbia. Abstract:

Na osnovi poznavanja dimenzijskih značajki skidera s vitlom (osnovne dimenzije, masa vozila, položaj točke težišta), razvijen je model procjene kretnosti skidera za privlačenje drva uz nagib terena na siguran, djelotvoran i okolišno prihvatljiv način. Model je zasnovan na graničnom nagibu kretnosti skidera temeljem vučne značajke vozila, koji povezuje dva istraživačka pristupa, 1) vozilo – teren (raspodjela sila ovisno nagibu i vučenom teretu) te 2) kotač – tlo (procjena vučnih značajki skidera temeljem indeksa kotača), uz poštivanje niza ograničenja proisteklih iz prethodnih istraživanja: i) rasterećenja prednje osovine vozila, ii) preopterećenja stražnje osovine vozila, iii) najmanje uzdužne stabilnosti skidera, iv) najmanje nosivosti šumskog tla te v) dopuštenog opterećenja pneumatika. Rezultati simulacijskog modeliranja procjene kretnosti skidera s vitlom Ecotrac 55V opremljenoga pneumaticima 12.4-24 pri privlačenju drva uz nagib terena, značajno se razlikuju s obzirom na uvjete nosivosti podloge te masu vučenih tereta. Kod manjih tereta, mase do 1 tone, kretnost skidera određuju kriteriji/ograničenja graničnoga nagiba kretnosti vozila (vučna značajka) i okolišne pogodnosti (najmanja nosivost podloge). Porastom težine tereta, osim nosivosti šumskog tla, odlučujući ograničavajući čimbenik kretnosti postaje odnos opterećenja prednje i stražnje osovine vozila (>1 : 3,5), koji ograničava kretnost skidera na terene nagiba <33 % kod tereta od 1,5 tone, tj. <20 % kod tereta od 2 tone. Kod tereta od 2,5 tone, na kretnost skidera, utječu kriteriji najvećeg dopuštenog opterećenja stražnje osovine skidera na nagibima <7 %.

The list of marine invertebrate biodiversity living in the southern tip of South America is compiled. After an exhaustive literature review, the available information of two centuries of scientific contributions is summarized. Thus, almost 3,100 valid species are currently recognized as living in the Argentine Sea. Part of this dataset was uploaded to the OBIS database, as a product of the Census of Marine Life-NaGISA project. A list of 3,064 valid species, grouped into 1,662 genera distributed in 808 families and 23 phyla, was assessed. The best represented taxa were Arthropoda and Mollusca, contributing approximately with the 50% of the mentioned species in the literature. Cumulative species curves were analyzed in order to estimate the percentage of marine invertebrate biodiversity that is currently known. However, no model fit to our data, showing that the recorded species represent less than 50% of the expected marine invertebrate biodiversity for the Argentine Sea. The great surface of the Argentine Marine Platform (6,581,500 km2) and the relative low effort in collecting and studying new species due to economical restrictions could explain the low fraction of described species. The training of new taxonomists, as well as, the support of projects that contribute to the knowledge of marine invertebrate biodiversity from South Western Atlantic is recommended.

The present issue of ALA, the second in its new incarnation, brings two pieces of good news. Papers devoted to Chinese are more theoretically oriented. In the first paper, David Ta-Chun SHEN argues about which theoretical devices are sufficient to explain the phenomenon in Mandarin where prepositions may or may not undergo the third tone sandhi. The second paper, by Jens KARLSSON, deals with adverbs zai and you in Modern Standard Chinese, showing the similarities of semantic content between the two adverbs and pointing out the main difference between them, i.e. the difference in viewpoint, and possible consequences of this fact.On the other hand, papers devoted to Japanese look at various issues from an applied linguistic perspective. Nagisa MORITOKI, based on her experience of teaching Japanese in Slovenia, discusses the learner and the teacher’s role and their possible strategies when dealing with the vast treasure-trove of information available on the Internet.Next, Bor HODOŠČEK explores genre variation in the newest large-scale modern Japanese language corpus, the BCCWJ, and the usability of modifier-verb ratio as a genre classifier. U krapinsko zagorskom kraju sve su češće pojave manjka oborina i vode u tlu za normalan rast i razvoj usjeva. U cilju primjene natapanja i intenzivne poljoprivredne proizvodnje , u članku analiziramo u prvom redu sadašnju i potencijalnu pogodnost poljoprivrednog zemljišta za natapanje do 500 m.n.m., nagiba terena 0-16%, ukupno neto površine 50.075 ha, zatim stanje posjeda-poljoprivrednih gospodarstava i mogućnosti izbora kultura. Poljoprivredne površine županije obuhvaćaju oko 58 % teritorija. Obrađuje se oko 50%. U privatnom vlasništvu je oko 99%. Osnovno obilježje poljoprivrednih gospodarstava je usitnjenost i rascjepkanost posjeda. Od zasijanih kultura prevladavaju žitarice (71%), krmno bilje (16,8%), krumpir (8,2%), povrće (4%), dok je pod ugarom i neobrađenih oranica i vrtova oko 3% poljoprivredne površine. U 2016. godini je natapano 19,35 hektara ratarskih i povrtnih kultura i voća na 51 ARKOD parceli i u 29 gospodarstava. Prema utvrđenom stupnju pogodnosti tla za natapanje i nagibu terena, preporučamo po načelu intenzivne poljoprivrede agro ili/i hidrotehničke mjere uređenja poljoprivrednog zemljišta, okrupnjavanje posjeda, tržišno održivi izbor poljoprivrednih kultura i odgovarajuće načine gospodarenja-korištenja poljoprivrednog zemljišta s natapanjem.

TPS4134 Background: In Japan, while post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy with S-1 or capecitabine plus oxaliplatin is standard care for pStage II/III gastric cancer after curative resection with D2 lymph node dissection, the clinical outcomes of pStage III patients are not satisfactory. In Europe, neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by gastrectomy is standard. The Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) has conducted several phase II trials of NAC, and deemed NAC as one of the most promising treatment strategies for gastric cancer with lymph node metastasis (Stage III). However, no established criteria exists for diagnosis of lymph node metastasis. JCOG1302A which was a cross-sectional study evaluating the accuracy of preoperative staging by imaging, showed that cT3-4N1-3M0 (positive lymph node was defined as that with a long axis diameter ≥ 10 mm or short axis diameter ≥ 8 mm) included just 6.5% overdiagnosed pStage I patients and accounted for 52.6% of all pStage III patients. Methods: JCOG1509 (UMIN000024065) is designed as a randomized phase III study to confirm the survival superiority of addition of NAC to standard treatment for patients with cT3-4N1-3M0 gastric cancer. In the standard arm, a gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy is performed followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with oral S-1 for 1 year. In the experimental arm, combination of an infusion of oxaliplatin (130 mg/m2/day, day 1) and oral S-1 (80 mg/m2/day, days 1–14) is repeated every 3 weeks for 3 courses before gastrectomy, followed by surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy with S-1 for 1 year. The primary endpoint is overall survival. The planned sample size is 470 in total with a 1-sided alpha of 5%, a power of 80%, expecting a 10% increase in the 5-year OS (60% vs 70%). Patients will be enrolled from 58 Japanese institutions over 3.5 years. The study was activated in September 2016 and, as of January 2017, 18 patients were enrolled for the study. Beauveria bassiana grown in a liquid medium containing N-acetyl-D-glucosamine and colloidal chitin produced two distinct N-acetyl-D-glucosaminidases, NAGase 1 and NAGase 2. NAGase 1 had a molecular weight of 97 000 and NAGase 2 was comprised of two subunits, of molecular weights 64 000 and 66 000. The optimal temperature and pH for NAGase 1 were 57 °C and pH 5 and for NAGase 2 they were 37 °C and pH 5. NAGase 1 was more thermostable than NAGase 2. The isoelectric points of NAGase 1 and 2 were ca. pH 9.5 and 5.5, respectively. NAGase 1 and 2 were unaffected by a 10 mM concentration of chloride salts of the ions Ca2+, Mg2+, or Zn2+, by 10 mM EDTA, and by 0.25–1 mM of short chain fatty acids. Dithiothreitol caused some inactivation of NAGase 2 while stimulating activity of NAGase 1. NAGase 1 had a Km of 0.38 mM and a Kcat/Km of 3923.88 M−1∙s−1. NAGase 2 had a Km of 2.095 mM and a Kcat/Km of 411.88 M−1∙s−1 when p-nitrophenyl-β-N-acetylglucosaminide was used as the substrate.Key words: Beauveria bassiana, N-acetyl-D-glucosaminidase, entomopathogenic fungus, extracellular enzyme.

Nagara bean/ catjang (Vigna unguiculata spp. Cylindrica) is a subspecies of cowpea which is widely cultivated in freshwater swamplands of Daha Utara and Daha Selatan sub-districts, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. Nagara bean is a plant native to South Kalimantan, but its utilization is still very low compared to other cowpeas. The aims of this study were to analyze the chemical and physical characteristics of Nagara bean in processed food compared to those of soybeans; and to analyze the development potential of Nagara bean in processed food. The methods were the production of catjang flour from skinless Nagara beans; the production of catjang flour by roasting Nagara beans; the substitution of Nagara beans with coagulated and fermented soybeans. The results showed that the flour from skinless Nagara beans contained protein (24.16%) and carbohydrate (61.62%), while the flour from roasted Nagara beans contained protein (18.42%) and carbohydrate (69.33%). When compared to soybeans, papan and arabian beans, the two types of Nagara bean, could be coagulated with a higher water content and lower protein content. When Nagara beans were fermented, the water and protein contents of fermented beans were higher than those of soybeans. It can be concluded that Nagara beans could be used in processed foods chemically. Nagara beans however absorbed water easily, so they smelled sour and unpleasant and the texture became soft.

UDK 630*38:625.725 Šumski kamionski putevi su saobraćajnice koje trajno otvaraju šumu i pri tome trajno oduzimaju jedan njen dio koji se zove širina prosjeke za put. Odluka o potrebi gradnje šumskog kamionskog puta donosi se nakon ekonomske analize tzv. ukupnih troškova u koje se ubrajaju brojni faktori, a najznačaniji su troškovi gradnje i održavanja puta sa jedne strane te troškovi transporta drveta sa druge strane. Osim ekonomskog aspekta kod planiranja i gradnje mreže šumskih puteva jednako su važni i tehnički i biološki aspekt. Svaki od navedenih aspekata pojedinačno sa porastom nagiba terena je zahtjevniji i teže rješiv. Zato je naročito na strmijim nagibima terena, teško dati rješenje trase puta koje je u tehničkom smislu najbolje, ekonomski najisplativije i biološki najmanje štetno. Generalno, porastom nagiba terena rastu troškovi gradnje puta, jer je potrebno put zasjecati dublje u samonikli teren kako se ne bi gradili skupi potporni zidovi. Spuštanje nivelete puta u samonikli teren znači istovremeno i povećanje širine prosjeke koja je potrebna radi gradnje puta. U ovom radu analizirano je kako i na koji način se povećanje nagiba terena odražava na povećanje širine prosjeke za put.

Abstract:

Activity of lysosomal N-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase (NAGase) in milk has been used as an indicator of bovine mastitis. We studied NAGase activity of 808 milk samples from healthy quarters and quarters of cows with spontaneous subclinical and clinical mastitis. Associations between milk NAGase activity and milk somatic cell count (SCC), mastitis causing pathogen, quarter, parity, days in milk (DIM) and season were studied. In addition, the performance of NAGase activity in detecting clinical and subclinical mastitis and distinguishing infections caused by minor and major bacteria was investigated. Our results indicate that NAGase activity can be used to detect both subclinical and clinical mastitis with a high level of accuracy (0·85 and 0·99). Incomplete correlation between NAGase activity and SCC suggests that a substantial proportion of NAGase activity comes from damaged epithelial cells of the udder in addition to somatic cells. We therefore recommend determination of NAGase activity from quarter foremilk after at least six hours from the last milking using the method described. Samples should be frozen before analysis. NAGase activity should be interpreted according to DIM, at least during the first month of lactation. Based on the results of the present study, a reference value for normal milk NAGase activity of 0·1–1·04 pmoles 4-MU/min/μl for cows with ≥30 DIM (196 samples) could be proposed. We consider milk NAGase activity to be an accurate indicator of subclinical and clinical mastitis.

U radu je istražen potencijal prijenosnog optičkog klorofilmetra CCM-200 (Opti-Sciences, Tyngsboro, MA, USA) u svrhu utvrđivanja stanja ishrane hrasta lužnjaka s dušikom na temelju uzorkovanja različitih tipovia lišća (lišće proljetnih i sekundarnih izbojaka). Istraživanje je provedeno na 30 biljaka uzgajanih u pokusnom nasadu tijekom dva vegetacijska razdoblja (2009. i 2010. godine). Meteorološke prilike i gnojidbeni tretman koji je bio proveden u rano proljeće 2009. godine uvjetovali su razlike između istraživanih godina s obzirom na razvoj izbojaka tijekom tercijarnoga porasta (što predstavlja potencijalni pokretač translokacije dušika u krošnjama istraživanih biljaka). Na temelju lišća proljetnih i sekundarnih izbojaka, uzorkovanoga u srpnju i rujnu 2009. i 2010. godine konstruirano je ukupno osam kalibracijskih jednadžbi. Te jednadžbe pouzdano opisuju (p < 0,001) odnos između klorofilnoga indeksa izmjerenoga pomoću klorofilmetra i koncentracije ukupnoga dušika u lišću proljetnih i skundarnih izbojaka s obzirom na vrijeme uzorkovanja. Pomoću ANCOVA-e ispitan je utjecaj tipa uzorkovanoga lišća na homogenost parametara kalibracijskih jednadžbi (Y-odsječaka i nagiba pravaca) s obzirom na vrijeme uzorkovanja. Tip lišća nije značajno utjecao na nagibe pravaca, ali značajno je utjecao na njihove Y-odsječke u tri od ukupno četiri promatrana vremena uzorkovanja. Homogenost parametara kalibracijskih jednadžbi konstruiranih na temelju različitih tipova lišća utvrđena je samo u rujnu 2009. godine, kada je pod utjecajem produkcije tercijarnih izbojaka došlo do izjednačenja koncentracije ukupnoga dušika u oba tipa uzorkovanoga lišća. Prema tomu, jednom konstruiranu kalibracijsku jednadžbu nije moguće istovremeno koristiti za preciznu procjenu ukupne koncentracije dušika u različitim tipovima lišća. Takav rezultat dovodi u pitanje praktičnost i pouzdanost procjene stanja ishrane hrasta lužnjaka s dušikom pomoću klorofilmetra CCM-200.

The Covid-19 pandemic imposes a new way of life on us, and in this new reality, we try in every way to find positive aspects for language studies in particular and science in general. One of such aspects is the switch to online scientific meetings and conferences, which have therefore become more accessible also to language enthusiasts from more remote locations. Besides, the already ongoing digitalization of linguistics in different respects, from teaching and learning materials, linguistic data collection, and others, only seems to accelerate in the situation. And finally, as unfortunate as it is, it nevertheless offers numerous new insights into our social lives. The summer issue of Volume 11 is dedicated though not limited to such insights. In the first article “A Comparative Corpus-Based Content Analysis of Head of Government Addresses in Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic: Japan and Western Countries” by Nagisa MORITOKI ŠKOF discussed the speakers’ perspectives and political orientation in public addresses made by heads of government in Japan, the USA, New Zealand, Germany, and Slovenia in response to the coronavirus disease. Following, SAWADA Hiroko and INOUE Rizu in their article “Network for Supporting Education of Foreign Children During Covid-19: Language Assessments as a Tool for Promoting Community Integration” introduce problems of the present Japanese education system, which does not adequately support children whose mother language is not Japanese. Their action research project in collaboration with several schools and one university proposed a support system through online media that would soften the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The third article in this issue was written by Oleg KALININ. “Comparative Analysis of Coronavirus Metaphoric Representation in Chinese and Russian Online Media” compared the coronavirus metaphorical image in the online media of China and Russia to find out that their basic difference is in discussing or not discussing the positive outcome of the coronavirus battle, which consequently impacts the public opinion. WANG Aiqing’s “Causation in Classical Chinese during the Warring States Period and in the Han Dynasty” explores causation in Classical Chinese and shows that the strategies to form causation structures are compatible with a prosodic theory, according to which agentive and causative constructions involving covert causative verbs are prosodic words, while those involving overt causative verbs exhibit properties of phrases. The article “’I Am Not Punjabi, My Parents Are’: Degradation of the Language of Dominant Majority” by Sham HAIDAR, Tehreem WALI, Tehreem TAHIR, and Mehwish PARVEEN discuss the present status and explore the predicament of the Punjabi language based on the findings that the Punjabi speakers themselves disown their language and the Punjabi identity due to social, economic, religious, and political reasons. Last but not least, Mária IŠTVÁNOVÁ in her article “On The Use of Corpora in Second Language Acquisition – Chinese as an Example” presents several language corpora and points out advantages of their use in the process of Chinese language acquisition together with some practical examples of the corpora's direct and indirect use for teaching and learning Chinese as a second language. Editors and Editorial board wish the regular and new readers of the ALA journal a pleasant read full of inspiration, and a rise of new research ideas inspired by these papers.

Abstract:

This paper proves that the Nagata automorphism over a finite field can be mimicked by a tame automorphism which is a composition of four elementary automorphisms. By investigating the sign of the permutations induced by the above elementary automorphisms, one can see that if the Nagata automorphism is defined over a prime field of characteristic two, the Nagata automorphism induces an odd permutation, and otherwise, the Nagata automorphism induces an even permutation.
