Abstract:
Japanese New Wave filmmaker Nagisa Ōshima repeatedly tackled Japan’s cultural and systemic discrimination toward Koreans in his films. The “Korean problem” is a complex issue that stems from a storied history between the two countries. However, Ōshima was undaunted at the task of confronting his Japanese audience with challenges to their potential biases. Ōshima incorporated essay film techniques in his films Forgotten Soldiers (1963), Diary of Yunbogi (1965), Death by Hanging (1968), and Three Resurrected Drunkards (1968) to disrupt the illusion of film and encourage self-reflection among the audience.

Abstract:
Nagisa Oshima's films of the 1960s made him a darling of left-wing cinephiles, who responded to their radicalism and embraced it as revolutionary optimism. Thirty years on, however, the films seem much more pessimistic, skeptical, and unlikable—and arguably all the greater as a consequence.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Since the very moment of their appearance two recent works of Euphrase Kezilahabi- Nagana (1990) and Mzingile (1991)- hold a very special place in the whole development ofKiswahili literature, giving a lot of puzzles for the reader and a lot of material for the scholars of literature. I\' m going to dwell upon only one aspect of the book - its generic origin; for I think that this question will sooner or later arise. To this effect, I would dare first narrate - very briefly - the contents of the book I would refer to it as `the book´, although it actually consists of two parts - but these parts are so closely related to each other, that it seems possible to speak of Nagana and Mzingile as one piece of work. To what literary genre shall we ascribe the latest work of Tanzania` s leading writer? I would dare to come forward with such a question, because within the structure of the book there seem to be at least four more or less easily tangible stylistic plans. The first one I would call a folkloristic plan, for Kezilahabi uses widely and vividly the elements of African folklore - from mythological concepts to folklore plots, inserted into the narration. The second stylistic plan of the book can be called that of a parable - a parable in the sense of a self-contained story conveying didactic message to a reader or a listener. The book is full of such stories. The next stylistic plan one can call that of science-fiction - or, I would rather say, of antiutopia, for the author draws apocalyptic pictures of the world after the nuclear war, implyin the technique inherent to science-fiction novels. Finally, another stylistic plan of the book can be called realistic - for the author gives, for example, the descriptions of modern city, where the Msichana-Mwokozi dwells, or of an African village, when he tells about the childhood of the main character, using the traditions of east African realistic novel, portraying shortly but vividly urban and rural life. I would say that this realistic plan takes smaller place than the other three - but it is by no means less noticeable.

Sherpas needed a new platform to monitor machines on their network. The platform they wanted to use was Nagios Core to monitor resources like CPU, disk, memory, bandwidth, webservers and SQL servers. The monitor solution also needed a simple way to add new hosts. Addons for a dashboard and graphs was also needed for a better overview. The monitor platform was installed on a test environment with a stationary computer, laptop with 3 virtual machines and a switch. Nagios Core was installed on the stationary computer. NRPE was used as the agent and was installed on all Linux servers. Nagios plugins was also installed to be able to monitor the required resources. Monitoring of Windows machines was done with WMI. To monitor switches and routers a plugin was created with Bash. To simplify configuration for new hosts, host groups were used. All host groups are linked to a service and when new hosts are created the required services are monitored by selecting all the host groups which the services are linked to. This decreased the time required for configuring new hosts. The solution was only done with a very small environment and the plugin that was created could contain a few bugs that can be detected in the future. The program also used a programming language not suited for the situation and should be changed in the future. No focus on security was done and is something that should be implemented in the future.

Abstract:
This study is one of the responses by the National Park Service to requirements in NAGPRA. The study was commissioned by the NPS Applied Ethnography Program in Washington, D.C., to identify individuals and tribes affiliated with the objects of cultural patrimony, sacred objects, or unassociated funerary objects at five NPS units, review those unit summaries, assist park or center staff in initiating consultation regarding those objects, and conduct a case demonstration consultation for Pipe Spring National Monument. The project was administered under Cooperative Agreement #8100 -1 -0001 between the Western Archeological and Conservation Center, National Park Service and the University of Arizona. While this study was specific to NAGPRA- related issues, the NPS does stipulate in its Management Policies (1988) that consultation with Native Americans will occur with regard to cultural resource issues. NAGPRA is not the only consultation arena the NPS is currently involved in with Native Americans.

Abstract:
An estimated 95% of rural residents use groundwater as their household water supply for drinking and everyday use. Public policy in Montana and through most of the United States dictates no rules about well water testing, only recommends testing be done on a yearly basis. Well water can contain lead, arsenic, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), synthetic organic compounds (SOCs), nitrates, and copper and many other possible contaminants. The choice of a consumer-based water filtration system should be based on the contaminant profile of the water source. Filter types vary in design and their contaminant removal profile, such as simple pitcher filters, activated carbon, and reverse osmosis, but many filtration systems can remove multiple contaminants and reduce the risk of exposures. The purpose of this project is to provide a list of potential contaminants and their health effects that have commonly been identified as contaminants in water samples in Gallatin County, Montana, as well as provide a comprehensive resource for consumers and health care providers to make decisions about well-water treatment.

Abstract:
Predicting ship maneuverability is one of the important topics in ship engineering. However because of the huge difference between model and full scale Reynolds number (Re), it is almost impossible to predict full scale ship maneuverability using conventional methods such as model test. On the other hands, with the developments of computational technologies and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques, CFD simulations are widely applied on ship maneuvering problems (e.g. Stern et al., 2011). Moreover some of the researchers start the CFD simulation with full scale Re especially on propulsion problems (e.g. Tezdogan et al., 2015) which showing reasonable results. Therefore, in this paper, captive maneuvering simulations (rudder angle test) in model/full scale Re on KVLCC2 are carried out using Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) solver NAGISA (Ohashi et al., 2014) with the overset gird method UP_GRID (Kodama et al., 2012). And the results between model and full scale simulations are compared in maneuvering coefficients and flow field to reveal the scale effect on ship maneuverability.

In ASME 2010 29th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering. ASMEDC, 2010. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/omae2010-20177.

Abstract:
This paper proposes that the pilot field be created to apply the Adaptive Management Technique in order to promote the policy of large-scale restoration of the tidal flat/shallow sea. It will be a case study in Tokyo Bay, a major enclosed urban sea in Japan. The motif and background of the study are stated in the beginning. Creation of the symbiotic structure with marine life, of which the artificial tidal flat is a representative example, is more and more in need as a new direction of port environmental policymaking. This paper discusses that the creation of large-scale tidal flat will be especially effective in Tokyo Bay, a highly reclaimed and enclosed sea and that an innovative technical approach is necessary in view of the long-term efforts. First, an artificial tidal flat built in the past, Itsukaichi Area Artificial Tidal Flat in Hiroshima Prefecture, was analyzed to identify its technical problems. Based on what occurred in this case, the need for a new technical approach to practice the Adaptive Management Technique is discussed. Secondly, Tokyo Bay is taken up as a case study. With the ultimate goal of restoring the tidal flat/shallow sea on a large-scale, it is proposed that small pilot fields be created in the Bay and that the Adaptive Management Technique be applied. Technical and social problems will be addressed step by step in the pilot field, which will be gradually expanded. They are open experimental fields, where systematic observation will be conducted. Technically appropriate structure of the tidal flat will be assessed. The pilot field will also be a forum where consent and support of those concerned including citizens and non-specialists is sought. Furthermore, “Shiosai no Nagisa,” an artificial tidal flat with a reinforced seawall in Port of Yokohama is examined from the viewpoint of the Adaptive Management Technique. It was built by Kanto Regional Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism in 2008.

This article is about the story of a favorite Jewish song of many people around the world. Hava Nagila is one of the first modern Israeli folk songs in the Hebrew language. It went on to become a staple of band performers at Jewish weddings and bar/bat (b'nei) mitzvah celebrations. The melody is based on a Hassidic Nigun. According to sources, the melody is taken from a Ukrainian folk song from Bukovina. The text was probably the work of musicologist Abraham Zvi Idelsohn, written in 1918. The text was composed in 1918, to celebrate the Balfour Declaration and the British victory over the Turks in 1917. During World War I, Idelsohn served in the Turkish Army as a bandmaster in Gaza, returning to his research in Jerusalem at the end of the war in 1919. In 1922, he published the Hebrew song book, “Sefer Hashirim”, which includes the first publication of his arrangement of the song Hava Nagila.
