Abstract:
The myth of the "mythical method": A philological excavationThis paper seeks to illuminate the meaning and purpose of T. S. Eliot’s “mythical method”, both in its original context (Eliot’s 1923 review of Joyce’s Ulysses) and in Greek critical practice, from the mid-20th century to the present. Beginning with a review of the “mythical method’s” strong impact and widespread use as a critical term in contemporary Greece, it proceeds to present this term’s main interpretations, following its initial formulation by George Seferis: as a general organizing principle or tone of voice (by E. Keeley), as a “myth-historical objective correlative” (by N. Vayenas) and as an allegorical device (by various recent critics), and to discuss their respective shortcomings. Turning to Eliot’s text, the paper shows that the “mythical method” was never meant to be used as a critical term, while Eliot’s definition of it fails to correspond to his prime textual examples. The term’s original formulation was mainly intended to protect The Waste Land, in the context of local literary politics, and so it was effectively repudiated by its author shortly after its introduction. Although the term has been practically abandoned in international critical practice, its proliferation in Greek criticism is remarkable. The paper concludes that, despite the confusion caused by their conceptual failures and wild improvisations, Greek designations of the “mythical method” can be enlightening, as illustrations of the contradictory canonizing strategies operating in the field of Greek criticism during the second half of the 20th century.

Kropyvko, Iryna V. "INTERPRETATIVE STRATEGIES OF MODERN PROSE IN THE CONTEXT OF ANTHROPOLOGICAL CRITICISM." Alfred Nobel University Journal of Philology 2, no. 24 (December 20, 2022): 17–28. http://dx.doi.org/10.32342/2523-4463-2022-2-24-2.

Abstract:
The aim of the research is to consider the interpretive strategies with respect to modern prose in the context of critical anthropology, which, on the one hand, unveils mentality of modern person, and on the other hand, influences its formation. This article identifies the theoretical foundations of interpretive strategies in anthropological criticism. The theoretical framework of the research is grounded on the ideas advanced by T. Boellstorff, A. Brandel, O. Halchuk, O. Haleta, V. Iser, M. P. Markowski, O. Polishchuk, N. Rapport, E. Wiles, B. Williams and other scholars. Research methods include anthropology, hermeneutics, and theoretical analysis of their basic notions. The academic novelty is in new emphasis on considering interpretive strategies of modern prose in terms of anthropological criticism. The interpretive strategies are viewed as an aspect that emphasizes the specificity of modern person’s way of thinking its direction. Modern person’s imaginative way of thinking is gradually balanced in life by abstract and conceptual framings. The study of interpretive strategies in terms of critical anthropology helps to solve two tasks: to find out how the non-academic community regards the image of oneself as a person of today, and to highlight the mechanisms and specificity of figurative thinking that manifests itself through involvement into art either as author or as recipient. It affects personal disposition as well as self-identification. Reader’s text interpretation procedure includes the processes of text creation as well as the reader’s inscription in the text itself. Besides, the process of text interpretation throughout the reading determines the production of long-term reader’s self-reflection. Nowadays literary anthropology and criticism makes it possible to consider author, recipient, and critic as cultural actants of the literary field. It also makes it possible to trace the way the image of modern person is revealed in literary text, and what are the mechanisms and strategies that create this image of the reader. Thus, the aesthetic parameters of the reception of the literary work are inscribed in the reader that influence the scope of interpretation and, accordingly, the personal growth of the recipient as it is revealed in the text. Conclusion. Interpretive strategies are recognized as a variety of textual devices along with narrative and receptive ones. Modern prose, positioned as belonging to post-non-classical literature, in contrast to classical and non-classical ones, are able to implement not one, but several different strategies focused on different types of perception. Interpretive strategies inscribed in modern texts reflect the specifics of Homo digitalis as well as virtual environment. The study of the “virtuality” of modern prose is effective in applying the methods of literary anthropology. Its interests are gradually shifting from a supporting function in the study of person by cultural and social anthropology to the analysis of literary text relying on the achievements of anthropological criticism for verifying and revealing the specifics of literary creativity and the activity of actants in the diverse literary writings.

Abstract:
The review is devoted to the 2019 Vita Nova edition of K. Vaginov’s frst novel Goat Song [Kozlinaya pesn] (1928). The publishers revised the conventional textual-critical concept of T. Nikolskaya and V. Erl and proposed one of their own. Although well-defned and engaging, it ofen comes across as questionable. Despite several criticisms, the reviewer holds an overall positive view of the book’s design (E. Posetselskaya’s illustrations) and contents. The accompanying articles — one by N. Nikolaev about the prototypes of Vaginov’s characters (importantly, about L. Pumpyansky) and another by I. Khadikov and A. Dmitrenko about the novel’s depiction of Petergof — hold unquestionable scholarly value and deserve special attention. The book is sadly missing a biographical article with a description of the writer’s life and work, otherwise a permanent feature of every publication in the publisher’s Manuscripts [Rukopisi] series. The commentary included in the book provides a satisfactory, if disputable, overview of the research published by literary scholars of Vaginov’s oeuvre in the last twenty-fve years.

Abstract:
Background The rollout of COVID-19 vaccines has brought vaccine hesitancy to the forefront in managing this pandemic. COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy is fundamentally different from that of other vaccines due to the new technologies being used, rapid development, and widespread global distribution. Attitudes on vaccines are largely driven by online information, particularly information on social media. The first step toward influencing attitudes about immunization is understanding the current patterns of communication that characterize the immunization debate on social media platforms. Objective We aimed to evaluate societal attitudes, communication trends, and barriers to COVID-19 vaccine uptake through social media content analysis to inform communication strategies promoting vaccine acceptance. Methods Social network analysis (SNA) and unsupervised machine learning were used to characterize COVID-19 vaccine content on Twitter globally. Tweets published in English and French were collected through the Twitter application programming interface between November 19 and 26, 2020, just following the announcement of initial COVID-19 vaccine trials. SNA was used to identify social media clusters expressing mistrustful opinions on COVID-19 vaccination. Based on the SNA results, an unsupervised machine learning approach to natural language processing using a sentence-level algorithm transfer function to detect semantic textual similarity was performed in order to identify the main themes of vaccine hesitancy. Results The tweets (n=636,516) identified that the main themes driving the vaccine hesitancy conversation were concerns of safety, efficacy, and freedom, and mistrust in institutions (either the government or multinational corporations). A main theme was the safety and efficacy of mRNA technology and side effects. The conversation around efficacy was that vaccines were unlikely to completely rid the population of COVID-19, polymerase chain reaction testing is flawed, and there is no indication of long-term T-cell immunity for COVID-19. Nearly one-third (45,628/146,191, 31.2%) of the conversations on COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy clusters expressed concerns for freedom or mistrust of institutions (either the government or multinational corporations) and nearly a quarter (34,756/146,191, 23.8%) expressed criticism toward the government’s handling of the pandemic. Conclusions Social media content analysis combined with social network analysis provides insights into the themes of the vaccination conversation on Twitter. The themes of safety, efficacy, and trust in institutions will need to be considered, as targeted outreach programs and intervention strategies are deployed on Twitter to improve the uptake of COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract:
The textual criticism of the New Testament (2): An exercise in theory and practice This concluding article on New Testament textual criticism focuses on the practical application of a workable method for the evaluation of textual variants in the manuscripts of the New Testament. Six variation units displaying a wide variety of textual problems are discussed, viz the ending of Mark’s gospel, the theological/christological problem in John 1:18, the possible conjectural emendation in Acts 16:12, the ortographical variation in Romans 5:1, the doxology at the end of Romans, and the so-called “command to silence” in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35. The next result in each case does not necessarily produce rousing new insights, but it underlines the need for a balanced approach which weighs all the evidence without prejudice before making a decision on the value of a textual variant.

Abstract:
The work of many emerging young rabbinics scholars today, particularly that which is focused on the Mishnah, is animated by a desire to synthesize two distinct approaches to rabbinic texts. One is the traditional philological-historical approach, which traces its roots back to the European Wissenschaft des Judentums tradition of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In its current form, traditional Talmud criticism is perhaps most associated in Israel with the work of J. N. Epstein, the founder of the Hebrew University Talmud Department and the “father of exact scientific Talmudic inquiry.” While most of Epstein's students proceeded to shape the study of rabbinic literature in the Israeli academy, Saul Lieberman, perhaps his most distinguished disciple, moved to America, where his presence dominated the study of rabbinic literature at the Jewish Theological Seminary in the postwar decades. Traditional Talmud criticism is characterized by a scrupulous attention to manuscripts and textual variants, a systematic use of the findings of Semitic and comparative linguistics, and the use of form and source criticism to determine the history and development of larger textual units.

This article discusses philosophical translation criticism based on the Derridian texts. Firstly, I review some of the critiques made by J. Derrida on the French translation of Plato's Phaedrus. Some of the problems raised there allow me to demonstrate the polysemous textual fabric of philosophy and define the notion of deconstructive criticism. The second part presents some of the characteristics of philosophical translation from terminology's point of view and analyzes the Spanish and French retranslations of the Hegelian concept Aufhebung. Finally, in the third part I attempt to show that Derridian texts require a sort of criticism borrowing both from A. Berman's and H. Meschonnic's translation criticism projects. Abstract:
David Hume (1711-1776) has long been considered a severe denunciator of 'social contract theory', and this interpretation has implicitly premised a perspective that lays heavy weight on the importance of social contract in the history of political thought. This work presents Hume's critique of the Lockean version of the social contract, and identifies the issues responsible for such criticism. In Book 3 of Hume's Treatise on Human Nature (henceforth T), Hume displays his systematic criticism of social contract theory. Hume did not consider social contract theory as an important trend in the history of political thought. One of his points was that 'social contract theory' was quite new, strange and 'heterodoxical' in politics. This work offers an appraisal of Hume’s stance on the Lockean variant of “Social Contract Theory” and proposes a more judicious textual reading of his contributions in this regard.

The goal of the article is to revise the engendered notions of the Soviet textual criticism concerning the impact of censorship on Nekrasov’s works as exclusively repressive and leading to the distortion of the text. A number of texts («The Unfortunate», «The Railroad») show that the censor’s input encouraged the poet to further improve the text. The presence of arguments in favor of censorship interference should not, however, lead to deviations from the principle of the last lifetime edition and to the «reconstruction» of the text from other sources.

Abstract:
It is a natural phenomenon that languages spoken worldwide, have varied manners and dialects within them. The Arabic language that ’Allah almighty has chosen as the standard-bearer of Islam to spread His message and communicator of the Qur’?n is similar to other languages, having different dialectical variations occurring from the changes among accents, intonations, and geographical conditions of the Arab. Such changes in the Qur’?nic recitation are called Qir’?t. These are different on the basis of lexical, phonetical, linguistic, morphological, and syntactical manners permitted with reciting the Qur’?n. Each Qir’?t has its own certain rules of recitation and variations in words and letters. It is believed that renowned different dialects belong to the different tribes, which include Qura?sh, Hudha?l, Tam?m, Haw?zin, Thaq?f, Kin?nah and Yemen. The wisdom behind this, was to make Qur’?nic recitation and memorization easier for the indigenous tribes who speak Arabic differently. These dialects were reduced to one, that of the Qura?sh, during the rule of third caliph ?azrat ‘Uthm?n ibn ‘Aff?n (d. 656 AD/35 AH) since variant styles of readings had the potential to cause divisions among Muslim Ummah in understanding of the message of Qur’?n. It must be kept in view that Qir’?t must not be confused with the actual Qur’?nic verses. Qir’?t does not change the verse of the Qur’?n, it is just how it is read Qur’?n. This paper is the study of how variant readings of Qur’?n be useful for comprehension of message of Qur’?n and what is the impact of these variant reading of Qur’?n on Islamic jurisprudential discourse.

Abstract:
In the milieu of interwar Romanian modernism, Șerban Cioculescu showed a particular interest in the making of literary biographies, which in the post-war decades resulted in a self-styled version of biographical criticism. This article follows the avatars of a heated debate developed in 1970-‘80s around the life and works of writer Mateiu I. Caragiale, involving, on the one hand, Alexandru George, Alexandru Paleologu, and N. Steinhardt, and on the other, Șerban Cioculescu and Eugen Simion. While the former group claims a textual hermeneutics devoid of biographical speculation, the latter supports the revival of biography-based analysis. Eugen Simion finds in Șerban Cioculescu’s approach a valuable ally, while preparing his book Întoarcerea autorului (The Return of the Author, 1981), to defy the mainstream anti-biographical orientation of Romanian criticism, and reintroduce, in the spirit of French theory (like Jean Starobinski or Serge Doubrovsky’s), the figure of the author in text interpretation.

Abstract:
The main problem solved in the article was the issue of dating Gogol’s rough sketches with the author’s “working” title “To the 1st part.” For almost a hundred years, it was generally accepted that these sketches, related to the first volume of Dead Souls, were written after the publication of this volume in 1842. The arbitrary dating of the notes “To the 1st part” to 1845–1846 is refuted by numerous facts indicating that the images and motifs of the notes were “interspersed” by Gogol into the overall fabric of the poem. These references were first pointed out in 1987 by V. A. Voropaev, who dated the sketches to 1839–1840. New observations were added to the textual observations made by the researcher, allowing one to trace the evolution of the text. The author's intention, as it appears in the sketches, is also analyzed along with the means by which it is realized in the poem. The combined data of textual criticism and poetics make it possible to clarify the dating of the notes, attributing them to the first months of 1841. The notes contain the author’s plan to express a broad educational meaning in the “gossip” and “idleness” of the city of N. in the first volume of the poem, endowing this the representation with an expression of a general “idleness” of the world. To realize this plan, Gogol planned to bring up several analogies to the “idle” life of “dead souls” in the poem, i.e., “to include all the similarities and introduce a gradual progression.” In the final text of the poem, such “similarities” were typologically “related” to gossip: fortune-telling “scientific reasoning”, predictions of false prophets and pseudo-spiritual literature. According to Gogol, all of them, taken in their totality, explain the numerous misconceptions of mankind in world history — following the “swamp lights”, “roads that lead far to the side.” Rumors about the Antichrist arising in the “emptiness” of the city suggest that in the final chapters of the first volume the writer depicts, as earlier in “The Government Inspector,” the pre-apocalyptic state of society, the approach of the last times — which for some, in fact, become the “last hour” (the death of the prosecutor).

Abstract:
The article raises the fundamental problems of textual criticism of N. V. Gogol’s story “Taras Bulba.” The author of the article provides an analytical review of the translation and publishing practice of representatives of Ukrainian nationalism of the 19th–20th centuries, the features of the publications of Gogol’s story with textological “innovations” by P. A. Kulish, M. O. Lobodovsky, M. Sadovsky (N. K. Tobilevich), I. A. Malkovich. The distinctive feature of the listed cases is the ideological character of the violation of the fundamental scientific principle of choosing the final wording of the text. The preference for the publication of the early edition of Taras Bulba over the later one leads to the fact that Taras Bulba’s famous speech about partnership, the image of the path of the traitor Andriy to enemies, the words of the Cossacks before death about devotion to faith and homeland, Gogol’s prophecy about Russian tsar and the narrator’s exclamation about the irresistible Russian power became “an appendix” without author’s context. The paper clearly shows the need for a comprehensive, complex solution of textual problems and the inadmissibility of ignoring the last writer’s will.

Abstract:
Objectives Schools are experiencing an unprecedented mental health crisis, with teachers reporting high levels of stress and burnout, which has adverse consequences to their mental and physical health. Addressing mental and physical health problems and promoting wellbeing in educational settings is thus a global priority. This study investigated the feasibility and effectiveness of an 8-week Compassionate Mind Training program for Teachers (CMT-T) on indicators of psychological and physiological wellbeing. Methods A pragmatic randomized controlled study with a stepped-wedge design was conducted in a sample of 155 public school teachers, who were randomized to CMT-T (n = 80) or a waitlist control group (WLC; n = 75). Participants completed self-report measures of psychological distress, burnout, overall and professional wellbeing, compassion and self-criticism at baseline, post-intervention, and 3-months follow-up. In a sub-sample (CMT-T, n = 51; WLC n = 36) resting heart-rate variability (HRV) was measured at baseline and post-intervention. Results CMT-T was feasible and effective. Compared to the WLC, the CMT-T group showed improvements in self-compassion, compassion to others, positive affect, and HRV as well as reductions in fears of compassion, anxiety and depression. WLC participants who received CMT-T revealed additional improvements in compassion for others and from others, and satisfaction with professional life, along with decreases in burnout and stress. Teachers scoring higher in self-criticism at baseline revealed greater improvements post CMT-T. At 3-month follow-up improvements were retained. Conclusions CMT-T shows promise as a compassion-focused intervention for enhancing compassion, wellbeing and reducing psychophysiological distress in teachers, contributing to nurturing compassionate, prosocial and resilient educational environments. Given its favourable and sustainable effects on wellbeing and psychophysiological distress, and low cost to deliver, broader implementation and dissemination of CMT-T is encouraged.

In 2019, N. P. Velikanova and B. V. orekhov published a stylometric study that tested the hypotheses about the authorship of the novel Quiet Flows the Don using Burrows’s Delta. The aim of this article is to suggest a minor but signifcant correction to their conclusions, based on the replication study made possible by the recent publication of the research data by orekhov. The extended series of Delta experiments using these data supports the conclusion that The Don Stories and the frst three volumes of Quiet Flows the Don were written by the same author. The alternative hypotheses about the authorship of the novel (kryukov, Sevskij, Serafmovich) are not confrmed by the stylo-metric data. Yet, despite Velikanova and orekhov’s claim, the Delta method and the corpus used in the study do not provide suffcient evidence to reliably attribute the fourth volume of Quiet Flows the Don to the same author.

Abstract:
The current integrative review aims to do the following: first, examine the Chinese and English topical studies on the Vimalak?rti Nirde?a S?tra published from 1900 to 2011; second, analyze the characteristics of those works; third, investigate related study trends through a statistical analysis; and finally, identify research gaps. This review not only offers a comprehensive overview of the available literature on the S?tra retrieved from 25 English and Chinese electronic databases, but also categorizes the 256 selected publications (n=34 English; n=222 Chinese) into eight sub-themes: art (n=36; 14%), book reviews (n=11; 4%), philological studies (n=11; 4%), literature (n=24; 10%), philosophy (n=77; 30%), textual criticism (n=22; 9%), translation (n=56; 22%), and miscellaneous topics (n=19; 7%); thus illuminating different research foci and features between English and Chinese scholars, and also among Chinese researchers in various territories. This project illustrates how an integrative review can be employed in Buddhist studies; it reveals challenges and opportunities related to Buddhist studies, stemming from technology; it suggests collaborative research in Buddhism; and it proposes the application of the philosophy of the S?tra to practical disciplines.

Abstract:
In 1945, N. N. Voronin, a specialist in the material culture and architecture of Old Rus’ and the Vladimir-Suzdal’ Principality, wrote a book about Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky of Vladimir (1157—1174). In 1946—1954, the book could not be published. In the history of historical science, the prevailing opinion is that the book was not published because of inconsistency with the ideological requirements of Soviet historical science. It is believed that this mood was most fully expressed by the historian V. T. Pashuto in his review. The author of the article argues that N. N. Voronin himself developed a prejudice under the influence of D. S. Likhachev, who supported him. The study of historical sources shows that V. T. Pashuto, on the contrary, proposed to publish the book as a historical monograph after a serious revision. V. T. Pashuto's criticism of the discrepancy between the historical research procedures of N.N. Voronin's book came into conflict with the representation of the past by supporters of the proto-culturological approach in comprehending the past. The present article uses documents studied by I.V. In this research, we exploit a novel approach for propagation processes on a network related to textual information by using topic modeling and pretopology theory. We first introduce the textual agent’s network in which each agent represents a node which contains specific properties, particularly the agent’s interest. Agent’s interest is illustrated through the topic’s probability distribution which is estimated based on textual information using topic modeling. Based on textual agent’s network, we proposed two information diffusion models. The first model, namely Textual-Homo-IC, is an expanded model of independent cascade model in which the probability of infection is formed on homophily that is measured based on agent’s interest similarity. In addition to expressing the Textual-Homo-IC model on the static network, we also reveal it on dynamic agent’s network where there is transformation of not only the structure but also the node’s properties during the spreading process. We conducted experiments on two collected datasets from NIPS and a social network platform, Twitter, and have attained satisfactory results. On the other hand, we continue to exploit the dissemination process on a multi-relational agent’s network by integrating the pseudo-closure function from pretopology theory to the cascade model. By using pseudo-closure or stochastic pseudo-closure functions to define the set of neighbors, we can capture more complex kind of neighbors of a set. In this study, we propose the second model, namely Textual-Homo-PCM, an expanded model of pretopological cascade model, a general model for information diffusion process that can take place in more complex networks such as multi-relational networks or stochastic graphs. In Textual-Homo-PCM, pretopology theory will be applied to determine the neighborhood set on multi-relational agent’s network through pseudo-closure functions. Besides, threshold rule based on homophily will be used for activation. Experiments are implemented for simulating Textual-Homo-PCM and we obtained expected results. The work in this paper is an extended version of our paper [T. K. T. Ho, Q. V. Bui and M. Bui, Homophily independent cascade diffusion model based on textual information, in Computational Collective Intelligence, eds. N. T. Nguyen, E. Pimenidis, Z. Khan and B. Abstract:
The article continues the investigation of textological issues associated with the surviving draft translation of the comoedia palliata The Asses (Asinaria) by Plautus, made by A. N. Ostrovsky from Latin. For the translation of Plautus’ Asinaria, the edition remains a problem: arguments are offered both for and against Levée (1820) as the basic source. The article reconstructs in detail the biographical and creative context of this translation, which was supposed to be a contribution to the formation of a democratic theater. The author of the article argues that although we cannot say for sure that Levée was the main or the only source of the translation, a lot in the Russian text says about Ostrovsky’s highly likely intentional repulsion of the Levée’s conception of Roman drama. In Levée’s edition, the French parallel translation and rare commentaries should have made Plautus one of the Latin classics, while Ostrovsky emphasizes the non-classical and lowbrow moments in Plautus. This explains both the decisions in the preparation of the manuscript and a number of accents that he deliberately made in this alleged rejection of the French translation, as well as the refusal to rely on the French translation even in difficult cases and work only with the Latin original, despite the inevitable translation errors.

Abstract:
The publication concerns the problem of analysis of some legislative acts of imperial Russia in the political and legal ideology of the regionalists. An attempt has been made to show the diversity of references in the language of the regional doctrine to legislation and legal terms. It is shown that representatives of the Siberian regionalism movement were very selective in their analysis of the texts of legal acts of the Russian Empire, which was due to their interests for specific problems. The authors found that while theoretically analyzing various government decrees on the proportionality of punishment and reduction of exile, such as Decrees of 1811 and 1821, as well as the Charter of 1822 on exiles, the Siberian thinker assessed the system of punishments as unsatisfactory. The attitude to this type of criminal punishment among legal scholars of the second half of the XIX century was ambiguous. It is emphasized that the application of progressive views of legal scholars is very often observed in the political and legal ideology of regionalism. For example, N. M. Yadrintsev referred to the provisions of the International Prison Congress of Stockholm. The authors comes to the conclusion that the textual analysis of the legislation by the regionalists in regard to the penitentiary policy of the state, including the problem of exile and maintenance of convicts, together with references to the doctrine of law, made it possible to comprehensively approach the solution of certain political and legal problems.

Abstract:
The Russian translation reception of Robert Burns's poem “Who is that at my bower-door?..” (1783) is for the first time considered in the article. It is emphasized that the comic work did not attract the attention of Russian translators until 1862, when the unsatisfactory interpretation of V. D. Kostomarov, deprived of the emotionality of the English original, came out. The results of the analysis of translations of the poem created by M. N. Shelgunov (1879), T. L. Shchepkina-Kupernik (publ. 1936), S. Ya. Marshak (1939), S. Sapozhnikov (publ. 2014), E. D. Feldman (2017), A. V. Krotkov (publ. 2018) are presented. The perception of Burns’ work in Russian literary criticism and literary criticism is comprehended. In particular, numerous reviews and studies are analyzed (A. T. Twardowski, K. I. Chukovsky, E. G. Etkind, T. B. Liokumovich, R. Ya. Wright-Kovaleva, A. Bobyleva), caused by S. Ya. Marshak translation, who, despite all his liberties, preserved the atmosphere of a lively conversation between two people, and emphasized their intonational, emotional and gender differences. It is noted that, having entered into a polemic with S. Ya. Marshak, who made Burns unnecessarily classic and stylistically “smooth”, modern translators created interpretations in the spirit of courteous poetry, largely devoid of the aesthetics of the original, its unique melody.

Abstract:
B a c k g r o u n d . The ordinary language philosophy should be considered as a set of different but interconnected research projects within the Anglo-American analytical philosophy of the first half and middle of the 20th century. A common factor for these studies is the application of the method of linguistic analysis of natural language expressions to solve many classical problems for philosophy. This method replaced the prevailing idealistic concepts, and was picked up and developed in Great Britain by the works and scientific explorations of J. Moore and B. Russell. It is a generally accepted opinion that the sphere of interests of representatives of the ordinary language philosophy is divided between two poles, represented by the works of L. Wittgenstein and D. Austin. M e t h o d s . In the article, the author used the method of historical-philosophical reconstruction to clarify the role, place and genesis of the ordinary language philosophy as a dominant methodology within the Anglo-American analytical philosophy of the middle of the 20th century, general scientific methods of cognition: analysis, synthesis, generalization to clarify key ideas and concepts, which is the basis of the methodology of the ordinary language philosophy, as well as methods of systematization and comparison. R e s u l t s . The article clarifies the genesis of the main ideas and concepts of the philosophy of everyday language, as well as gives an example of the modern strategy of criticism of this methodological direction. The key postulates of the ordinary language philosophy age are clarified, namely: (i) the thesis that philosophical problems arise due to the incorrect use of language and must be solved by clarifying the meanings of words, (ii) philosophical analysis should not be based on the discovery of hidden logical forms of expression, and on the clarification of the necessary and sufficient conditions for the use of the expression, including the analysis of the situation of use, (iii) meaning as use, (iv) the philosophical analysis of the meaning should be carried out informally, taking into account the analysis of each specific case of the use of the expression, (v) criticism systematic theories of meaning. C o n c l u s i o n s . At the current stage of the development of analytical philosophy, there is a noticeable increase in attention to the achievements of the ordinary language philosophy. Among modern researchers and critics of this direction, the names of A. Baz, D. Nagel, S. Somes, and T. Williamson can be singled out. The presence of the interest of modern researchers indicates premature statements about the completion of the ordinary language philosophy. This concept should be rehabilitated, and its methodological apparatus should enrich the arsenal of scientific methods of modern analytical philosophers.

Abstract The decision making problem considered here is to rank n alternatives from the best to the worst, using information given by the decision maker(s) in the form of an n×n pairwise comparisons (PC) matrix. We investigate pairwise comparisons matrices with elements from a real interval which is a traditional multiplicative approach used in Analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Here, we deal with two essential elements of AHP: measuring consistency of PC matrix and the method of eliciting the priority vector by which the final ranking of alternatives is derived. Classical approaches introduced by T. Saaty in AHP are compared with later approaches based on the AHP criticism published in the literature. Advantages and disadvantages of both approaches are highlighted and discussed.

Abstract:
The article is a response to the publication by P. A. Druzhinin “Falsification of Anna Akhmatovaʼs Manuscripts as an Actual Problem of Textual Criticism”, which evidently states the fallacy and bias of the authorʼs approach when discussing the authenticity or forgery of a number of Anna Andreevna Akhmatovaʼs manuscripts in private bibliophile collections. It is shown that P. A. Druzhinin often uses unverified information, not being a specialist in textual analysis and expertise of Akhmatovaʼs handwritten heritage. The main purpose of the response is to warn future researchers against using dubious methods of “auto-expertise”, which the author of this article resorts to. An assessment is also given to the archive of N. L. Dilaktorskaya (1914–1989) from the collection of the St. Petersburg bibliophile A. M. Lutsenko (1940–2008), who in Druzhininʼs article is presented as the owner of fake manuscripts by Akhmatova and their deliberate propagandist. It tells about the history of the formation of an extensive collection of Lutsenko (with a large number of autographs of the poet, acquired from various persons and under other circumstances, and the provenance and reputation of these inscripts is currently not questioned by anyone), about his acquisition of Dilaktorskayaʼs papers, as well as the evolution of the attitude towards them of A. M. Lutsenko as well as researchers of Anna Akhmatovaʼs creativity. It is emphasized that the negative opinion of the author of the response about the “Akhmatovaʼs manuscripts of Dilaktorskaya” was formed back in 2014, and on the basis of a thorough study of the composition of this Akhmatoviana (which still remains in the ownership of the Lutsenko family and hasn’t changed its owner, as opposed to the statements of P. A. Druzhinin). The distortions of the theses of the author of the response and other researchers on the topic under study are refuted. In addition, it is told about the collection of Akhmatovaʼs autographs in the possession of M. V. Seslavinskiy, which were included in the publication “Bibliophile wreath to Anna Akhmatova” (2014) and are not related to the “Akhmatova archive” by N. L. Dilaktorskaya from the collection of A. M. Lutsenko. A detailed textual analysis of an important controversial artifact known as the “Anna Akhmatova phone book” from the collection of Mikhail Viktorovich Ardov is presented.

Abstract:
Textual reconstruction is a very peculiar linguistic discipline and, although scores of scientific publications profess to deal with it, there are still not many theoretical works dealing with its methodological foundations. In a number of works published since the early 1960s, several Russian linguists of the semiological school of Tartu University – V. V. Ivanov and V. N. Toporov – have developed a distinctive approach to textual reconstruction. Their hypothesis of the “basic myth,” as they call the Slavic myth about the duel of the Thunder God (*Perunъ) and his adversary (*Velesъ), is based on the comparative and structural analysis of a huge number of historical and folk texts of many traditions, as well as on typological confirmations and binary interpretations. Linguists such as T. M. Sudnik, T. V. Civ’jan and R. Katičić have been strongly influenced by this school. Actually, these elements are not found in the works of Radoslav Katičić, who has contributed a reconstruction of Balto-Slavic texts connected with pagan fertility rites as correlated with the myth of an incestuous marriage between the son of the Storm God and his sister; however, the way he uses folklore material owes a lot to Ivanov and Toporov. The author of this work focuses on the problem of the possibility of reconstructing mythological discourse as a method of paleolinguistic research. This paper is intended as a synthetic overview of one of the neglected topics of textual reconstruction – the intertextual analysis of literary Old Russian texts. The article is centred on the reconstruction of a fragment of pagan oral discourse on the basis of homiletic and paranetic literature. The result – a fragment of the myth about the Slavic god called *Rodъ – is compared with the theory of Indo-European textual reconstruction on the syntactic and paradigmatic levels and their corresponding contexts in various common Slavic languages. The article aims to use and examine theoretical ideas of this branch of Indo-European linguistics in a practical study of a text and its transformations.

Abstract:
Z.N. Gippius’ story “Mirrors” was repeatedly correlated with the plot of F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel Idiot in lifetime criticism and the latest literature. The paper discovers the second source text, which is H. Ibsen’s play “Hedda Gabler.” Comparing the plot details of Dostoevsky’s novel and Ibsen’s drama, we can reveal “male” and “female” love triangles (Myshkin – Nastasya Filippovna – Aglaya, Nastasya Filippovna – Myshkin – Rogozhin; Levborg – Gedda – Thea; Raisa – Jan – Samokhin, Jan – Raisa – Olga). The reinterpretation of plot collisions in “Mirrors” may be considered from the psychological and religious-philosophical point of view. The paper provides with nearly word-by-word textual overlaps in the story with the mentioned sources. The analysis shows that the fundamental difference between the love triangles in Z. Gippius’ story in comparison with the previous tradition is that Gippius is trying to destroy the situation of inevitable choice for her characters. She reinterpreted and rewrote anew the plots of Dostoevsky and Ibsen, while the main characters changing their roles and the triangles collapsing at the end. No Gippius neither Merezhkovsky have articulated the philosophy of a religiously meaningful “triple union” as a form of realization of the “Third Testament” at the time of writing the story. The story “Mirrors” rewrites of the classics and the latest literature destructing of the traditional plots, though not completing and rethinking: the story has an open ending, the ideas of a triple alliance are unfinished. The article conclusion offers the hypothesis that the title of the story itself is not only Plato’s idea of the human existence world as a multiple reflection of the true ideal world in crooked mirrors, which is repeatedly articulated by its characters. It is also the formulated metapoetic principle of creating the text of the story itself, which is built on multiple reflections of familiar literary images and plot situations.

This essay takes an appreciative look at the influence of E. P. Sanders’s work on Jesus, Judaism and the Law and attempts to develop some of Sanders-style critique of scholarship to his ongoing influence. Particular attention is paid to Mt. 8.21–22/Lk. 9.59–60, Mk 2.23-28, and Mk 7.1-23. This article analyzes N. T. Wright’s domestication of Sanders’ criticism of anti-Jewish tendencies in scholarship, particularly where Wright uses Sanders to perpetuate the old myth of superiority over Judaism. This article also looks at how the influence of Hengel and Bultmann could continue through the credible endorsement of Sanders. Further consideration is given to the problematic notion of ‘conflict’ in the Gospel tradition.

Abstract:
The specificity of the development of the geographical and cultural space of Egypt in the poetry of the Silver Age at the time when the “Russian” poetic Egypt was born as a system of leitmotifs, imagestopos and a specific lexicon is described. It is noted that in modern literary criticism, in comprehending the geopoetics of a regional text, works devoted to the European continent, in particular, geopoetic regional models of Russian literature, have been most fully investigated. The relevance of the study is seen in the need to comprehend and analyze the geopoetics of Egypt and, more broadly, Africa as a sacred geocultural space. The textual fragments of poetic works by K. Balmont, V. Bryusov, I. Bunin, N. Gumilyov, V. Khlebnikov, representing stable geospatial images and symbols of Egypt, are analyzed. The authors come to the conclusion that the poetry of the Silver Age combines geocultural images and symbols with mythological motives, which gives the topos of Egypt a geosophical meaning. The analyzed material made it possible to show the generalized artistic structure of the geopoetic representation of Egypt in the poetics of the Silver Age and to highlight the spatial geocultural dominants: the Nile, Africa, the desert, the Sphinx, Egyptian heroes as images-topos, the Arab East.

This research examines two seminal works of Ahmad Sanusi, Malja’ al T{a>libin fi> tafsi>ri kala>mi robb al ‘a>lamin (in Sundanese) and Tamsiyat al muslimi>n fi> tafsi>ri kala>mi robb al ‘a>lami>n (in Indonesian Bahasa). By understanding Sanusi's interpretation and context of the production of the text, this research shows that Sanusi used his interpretation as a medium to criticize colonial government policies and emphasize the importance of education, especially mastering secular knowledge, besides the religious one to achieve Indonesian glory and independence. This research explores Sanusi’s anti-colonial criticism of the Teacher Ordinance Act, the prohibition of learning in pesantren and performing hajj. Furthermore, Sanusi encourages people to master secular sciences besides religious ones to achieve Indonesian independence. This research employs Hermeneutics to analyze Sanusi’s two books of tafsir. Abstract:
Manual therapy (TM) is one of the most common type of therapy in pain management. However, it still remains relatively poorly understood. There is still no clear definition of MT, it remains unknown what is the main mechanism of MT, and finally, the effectiveness of MT is not yet fully established. This article attempts to critically appraise TM in light of the recent scientific findings. Risks related to the use of TM i n c l i n i c a l p r a c t i c e h a v e b e e n formulated, especially in the context of chronic pain, and the results of research on the effectiveness of real MT and placebo MT have been discussed. Possible benefits associated with the use of MT in clinical practice have also been highlighted. An attempt was made to answer the question of whether, despite the increase in criticism of the current form of MT application, it may still be used as a part of modern pain physiotherapy.

Abstract:
The subject of the study is the Polish version of the song “Hej, sokoły!” regarded as a multi-dimensional intercultural communicative phenomenon from the point of view of the external and internal contexts and correlations of its individual and social aspects. The analysis has been undertaken using the method of sociocultural interpretation of the external context, the method of information decoding for identifying the author’s intentions and functions of textual symbols. For the systemic and incremental study of the song the author uses the modeling method, in particular, the linear model of communication with considering the constituents: w h o – w h a t – b y w h a t m e a n s – t o w h om. In the framework of this model the article has studied the motives of writing the song, its genre peculiarities. The ways of verbalizing its semantic dominants and the addressee of the song have been determined. The conclusion states that “Hej, sokoły!” is not just a romantic ballad tinged with grief for the lost, but a certain intercultural Ukrainian-Polish phenomenon that teaches not to forget history and given a lesson in patriotism.

Abstract:
Somatic Experiencing® is a bio-psychological method for the treatment and prevention of trauma and chronic stress, which has never been investigated with breast cancer (BC) survivors. Eight weeks of web-based synchronous group sessions were structured between April and June 2022. Potential participants were recruited using a convenience sampling approach and through the collaboration of a public hospital in northern Italy and a non-profit association of BC women. Thirty-five eligible participants were enrolled and divided into an intervention group (n = 21) and a control group (n = 14). Anxiety, depression, distress (HADS), coping strategies (Mini-MAC), trauma reworking skills (PACT), and body image (BIS) were assessed at T0 and after 8 weeks (T1). Qualitative items concerning the most significant moments and learnings were completed at T1 by the intervention group. An independent t-test confirmed no between-group psychological differences at T0. As hypothesized, paired-sample t-tests showed decreases in anxiety, depression, distress (p < 0.05), and anxious preoccupation coping strategy (p < 0.001), but also improvements in forward focus (p < 0.05) and body image (p < 0.001) in the intervention group. The controls worsened over time with increases in hopeless/helplessness (p < 0.001) and avoidance (p < 0.05) coping strategies. Textual analyses extracted five dominant themes that summarized the meaning of the experience for participants. The preliminary results suggest the effectiveness of the intervention.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the issue of criticizing the text of Leo Tolstoy's short story “Where Love Is, There God Is Alsoˮ (1885), its purpose is to substantiate the choice of the main source of the text for publication and to cleanse it of distortions. In the research literature, the issue of clarifying the history of formation of the given work as an artistic whole is open, details of the final stages of its creation have not been reconstructed, the editorship of this literary monument has not been concretized. The proposed work was performed in a certain sequence. First, all the discrepancies between the first lifetime editions of 1885–1886 were identified, and then a comparative analysis of them with handwritten materials was carried out. At the final stage, the classification of these discrepancies was correlated with the textual practice of the predecessors. As a result, the choice of the twelfth part of “The Works of Count L. N. Tolstoy” (1886) as the main text source for publication was theoretically justified, a list of recommended corrections based on manuscripts was compiled and argued. The tradition of criteria for scientific criticism of literary monuments has been supplemented with new principles. This is the transparency of editorial intrusions into someone else's text, the obligatory references to manuscripts or earlier publications in the list of corrections, a comprehensive disclosure of its composition (not a truncated format), the inadmissibility for a text critic to act as a co-author of the writer.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the role of text activity in information wars, its essential features, functions, as well as the use of various text tactics in the conditions of information confrontation are revealed. The history of wars testifies to the important role of texts, which are powerful weapons for influencing individual and mass consciousness. One of the effective means of modern information warfare is textual activity to generate or transform textually organized semantic information using a variety of sign systems. The relevance of the study is due to the theoretical and practical significance of the problem of transformation of textual activity in the process of evolution of information wars. In this regard, this problem requires a comprehensive analysis of the impact of textual activity on the information and communication space of modern information warfare, which involves consideration of theoretical approaches to the issue of the content of textual activity in the field of information confrontation, followed by the identification of trends and prospects for its development. Philosophical and methodological analysis of textual activity is based on scientific provisions and developments set forth in the works of such thinkers and scientists as N. L. Volkovsky, T. M. Dridze, S. G. Kara-Murza, G. G. Pocheptsov, J. Baudrillard , M. Libiki, M. McLuhan and others. The main results of the study are concluded in the following provisions. Firstly, the evolution of textual activity in information wars allows us to state the fact that at each stage the previous forms and methods of using various texts are preserved with the help of new communication technologies. Secondly, the textual characteristics of information warfare are the functions of textual activity, which should be correlated with the stages of organizing, preparing and waging war. Thirdly, textual activity in the information war is a multi-valued phenomenon that has many different aspects that require detailed study, taking into account the rapid development of information and communication technologies. The study of the main components of textual activity in the information and communication space of modern information warfare opens up additional opportunities for substantiating further directions for its optimization.

Abstract:
Background. Today, analyzing the Ukrainian theatrical movement of the first half of XX century, we can’t bypass V. Morskoy’s critical legacy. Volodimir Saveliyovich Morskoy (the real name – Vulf Mordkovich) is one of the providing Ukrainian theatrical and film critics of the first half of the XX century. He left us his always argumentative, but sometimes contradictious evaluations of dramatic art masters: the directors of Kharkiv Ukrainian drama theatre “Berezil” (from 1935 it named after T. Shevchenko) L. Kurbas, B. Tyagno, L. Dubovik, Yu. Bortnik, V. Inkizhinov, M. Krushelnitsky, M. Osherovsky; the producers of Kharkiv Russian drama theatre named after A. Pushkin – O. Kramov, V. Aristov, V. Nelli-Vlad and many others. Due to the critic’s persecution by the repressive machine of USSR, his evaluations of theatrical process were not quoted in soviet time researches. They still were not entered to the professional usage, were not published and commented in the whole capacity. Methods and novelty of the research. The research methodology joints the historical, typological, comparative, textual, biographical methods. The first researcher, who made up incomplete description of the bibliography of dramatic criticism by V. Morskoy, became Kharkiv’s bibliographer Tetyana Bakhmet. She gave maximally full list of critic articles (more than eighty positions) for the 1924, 1926–1929, 1937, 1948–1949 years. Kharkiv’s theater scientist Ya. Partola [16] in the first encyclopedic edition, that contains the article about V. Morskiy, gave the description of the only publication by critic known for today, in Moscow newspaper “Izvestiya”. Forty six critical articles, half of which didn’t note in bibliographies of both scientists, were collected and analyzed in periodical funds of Kharkiv V. Korolenko Central Scientific Library by the author of this article. Objectives. V. Morskoy was writing the reviews about the new films; the programs of popular and philharmonic performers; was researching the musical theater. This article has the purpose to characterize the features of V. Morskoy’ critical reviews on the dramatic theater performances. Results. It was managed to find out the articles by V. Morskoy hidden for the cryptonym “Vl. M.”, which dedicated to the performances of the “Berezil” theater of the second half of 1920th: “Jacquery”, “Yoot”, “Sedi“. The critic wrote about the setting “Jacquery ” by director V. Tyahno : “Berezil in setting of ‘Jacquery’ emphases it’s ideology, approaching ‘Jacquery’ to nowadays viewer” [2]. Perceiving critically some objective features of avant-garde stylistic, such as cinema techniques, V. Morskoy remarks: “The pictures are discrete, too short, some of them are lasting for 2–3 minutes, they made cinematographically” [2]. In the same time, the young critic already demonstrates the feeling and flair to the understanding of acting art. So, he accurately pointed out the first magnitude actors from the “Berezil” ensemble: A. Buchma, Yo. Ghirnyak, M. Krushelnitsky, B. Balaban [2]. V. Morskoy connected his view to “Jacquery” with the tendency of the second half of the 1920th: “For recently the left theaters became notably more right, and the right one – more left”[2], that reveals his theatrical experience. His contemporaries due to the author’s sense of humor easily recognized the style of V. Morsky’s reviews. Critical irony passes through the his essay about the setting by director V. Sukhodolskiy “Ustim Karmelyuk” in the Working Youth Theatre: “Focusing attention to Karmelyuk, V. Sukhodolskiy left the peoples in shade. Often they keep silence – and not in the Pushkin sense “[14]. Despite on the “alive” style, one of the features of V. Morskoy journalism was adherence to principles. His human courage deserves a high evaluation. In 1940, after the three years after the exile of Les Kurbas, the leader director of “Berezil” Theater, to Solovki, the critic published in the professional magazine the creative portrait of this disgraced director’s wife – the actress Valentina Chistyakova [15]. V. Morskoy arguments on the relationship between the modern works and the tradition of prominent predecessors has always been ably dissolved in an analysis of a performance. Each time V. Morskoy was paying attention to the distinctions of principals of playwriting, stage direction and even creative schools, in the second half of 1930th – 1940th, when the words “stage direction”, “currents”, in condition of predomination the so-called “social realism” method, in the soviet newspapers practically were not mentioning. For example, the critic saw of realistically-psychological directions in the O. Kramov’s performance “Year 1919”[9]. In 1940, V. Morskoy made a review of the performance of the then Zaporizhhya theater named after M. Zankovetska “In the steppes of Ukraine”, insisting on the continuity of the comedies of O. Korniychuk in relation to the works of Gogol and others of playwrights-coryphaeuses: “The play of O. Korniychuk is characterized by profound national form...” [7]. However, in the fact that in the Soviet Union at that time reigned as the doctrine the methodology of the “socialist realism”, the tragedy of honest criticism comprised. In controversy with the critic O. Harkivianin, V. Morskoy expressed the credo about the ethics and fighting qualities of the reviewer: “Apparently, Ol. Kharkivianin belongs to the category of peoples, who see the task of critic in order to give only the positive assessments. The vulgar sociological approach to the phenomena of art could be remaining the personal mistake of Ol. Kharkivianin. But when he presents him as the most important argument, everyone becomes uncomfortable”[8]. In 1949, the political regime fabricated the case of a “bourgeois cosmopolitan” against the honest theatrical critic and accused him in betraying of public interests adjudged V. Morskoy to untimed death at a concentration camp (Ivdellag, 1952). However, the time arbitrated this long discussion in favor of V. Morskoy. Conclusions. For the objective analysis of theater life of the city and the country as a whole, it is imperative to draw from the historical facts contained in the reviews of V. Morskoy, and the methodology of the review while investigating studies of theatrical art and theatrical thought of 1920–1940th. Thus, the gathering of the full kit of the critical observations of the famous Kharkov theater expert of the first half of the XX century is the important task for further researchers.

Abstract:
The article under studies identifies the methodological ties between modern Czech and Ukrainian literary studies on the example of Ivo Pospišil’s monograph “Methodology and Theory of Literary Slavic Studies and Central Europe” (2015). The methodological platform of the scientist is shown in dynamics: comparative studies, phenomenology, historical poetics, genre studies and areal studies. Areal (spatial) philology becomes the methodological framework and “cognitive tool” in the above work. Within the specific features of the hermeneutic circle, I. Pospišil outlines the methodological principles of Brno areal studies, as well as substantiates the powers of areal methodology. Hence, by means of deduction, he narrows the areas of its application and eventually connects spatial poetics to the analysis of specific texts of modern Czech literature. In this respect, areal studies are consonant with the methodology of the N. Kopystyanska’s scientific school. From the standpoint of literary axiology, I. Pospišil characterizes the literary process of 1960–1970 in the way that coincides with the ideas of D. Zatonsky and T. Hundorova. The interpretation of the tropical nature of allegory and symbol, within the areal issues, resonates with a number of Ukrainian investigations. I. Pospišil’s speculations on the problem of auto-reflection and auto-axiology of creativity is based mainly on the concepts of O. Potebnja, on whose methodological reputation rely the works of most Ukrainian researchers. The phenomenon of Central Europe is regarded in the context of “Central European centrism” and multiculturalism, which conceptually brings the scientific research closer to the American studies by N. Vysotska and T. Denysova. I. Pospišil emphasizes the influence of Central European university traditions of the first half of the XX century on the formation of the Prague Linguistic Circle, as well as on the scientific growth of F. Wallman, S. Vilinsky, R Jacobson and R. Wellek. The concept of the history of Russian literature, proposed by I. Pospišil, leads to the profound analysis of the scientific figure of D. Chyzhevsky, which is being widely studied in Ukraine. It is concluded that the “methodological balance” of Czech and Ukrainian literary criticism is ensured by common “pendulum movements” in the history of the literary process, common theoretical and literary basis (works by O. Potebnja, M. Bakhtin, D. Chyzhevsky, D. Ďurišin), parallel influences of Western European literary criticism, as well as collective conference events and consensual research optics.

Abstract:
B a c k g r o u n d . The self-concept of a person is a phenomenon that includes a person's ideas about himself and his own assessment of these ideas. Representatives of various directions in psychology emphasized that a positive self-concept of an individual is a condition for a fully functioning and prosperous individual who is fully aware of his self, knows and knows how to use his advantages and disadvantages, and strives to realize his potential (K. Rogers, R. Burns, J. Nezlek, R. Plesko, etc.). R. Burns was the first to propose the division of self-concept orientation into positive and negative. Dichotomous influence on the self-concept of an individual is carried out constantly and manifests itself in various life situations. Positive transformations of the self-concept occur under the influence of various factors, in particular, they are provoked by personal traits – benevolence, conscientiousness, neuroticism, etc. (J. Campbell, I. Tokunaga, T. Horiuchi, etc.). M e t h o d s . The following methods were used to investigate the characteristics of the transformation of the self-concept of a person: Self- actualization test SAMOAL (to study a person's attitude towards himself/herself and the desire for self-actualization), R. Kettel's 16-factor personality questionnaire (16РF) (to study personal characteristics), tolerance scale to the uncertainty of S. Badner (to study the attitude towards oneself and to changes), H. Ammon's self-structural test (to clarify the central structures of the self); projective technique "Ideal Self" (to study the cognitive component of self-concept); the projective technique "Cube in the desert" (for researching the level of comfort in current life conditions and features of the social orientation of the individual). R e s u l t s . Constructive transformation is evidenced by the presence of adequate positive self-esteem, active construction of one's own life, activity, desire to realize oneself, carefreeness, high work capacity, frankness, absence of social stereotypes, energy, satisfaction with work experience in one's specialty, ability to act adequately in relation to threatening circumstances, ability to enjoy sexual contacts , the ability to understand the feelings and interests of others, reluctance to recognize authority and pressure from others, independence, the desire for a harmonious existence and healthy relationships with other people, straightforwardness, psychological maturity, relaxation, courage, restraint, a tendency to think independently, a creative attitude to one's own life , patience, tolerance for uncertainty. A negative transformation of the self- concept is evidenced by the presence of activity, great fear of death and loneliness, high work capacity, rejection of one's own interests and needs, lack of trust in authoritative people, lack of contact with oneself, a flexible approach to one's own unconscious and feelings, emotional stability, intolerance to uncertainty, ease in relationships, independence, inability to live in the present, inability to accept criticism, unrealistic self-esteem, straightforwardness, depression, decisiveness, following generally accepted norms, courage, social hyperadaptability, tendency to benevolent social contacts, tolerance for criticism. С o n c l u s i o n . Features of the transformation of the self-concept of women aged 26 to 40 are presented. The transformation of the self- concept of an individual takes place in two directions. Constructive transformation contributes to the formation of a positive self-concept, destructive transformation – a negative self-concept. The subjective assessment of personal realization is an indicator of the orientation of the transformation of self-concept: a person with a formed positive self-concept is sure that it is realized in life; a person with a negative self-concept indicates that he is unfulfilled and has serious difficulties with self-actualization.

Abstract:
The world of professional translation is inextricably linked to the conquests of artificial intellig ence (AI), and human translators need to use machine translation tools and translatio n memories to increase their productivity . The aim of this paper is to highlig ht the importance of the human translator in the translatio n process and, consequently , to adapt the tra ining of young translators to the circumstances in which they will have to work in the future. Based on the work of final-year students of FLUP's Master's in Translation and Language Services, we carried out an analysis of several cases that revealed the weaknesses of machine translatio n systems, in o rder to illustrate how human intervention can contribute t o a more efficient tra nslation process and a higher quality of the final product and canalso help translators focus their efforts on areas where human intervention is most valuable. If the translator is aware of the limitations of AI systems in advance and if he/she knows what are the most appropria te lin guistic resources applied in the different text genres of specialised communication in the target cultu re and language, during the revision and post-editing process he/she may focus his efforts on areas where human intervention is most valuable: in producing texts that do not look like a translatio n and reveal the characteristic features of orig inal, specialised discourse in the target culture and language. By paying special attention to pronominal anaphora, collo cations, idiomatic expressions, or macro- and micro-textual conventionstranslators can optimize the revision process, increase productivity, and achieveimproved translations in less time.

Abstract:
The present study investigated the effects of writing reader response journals (RRJ) on the quality of responses to literary works assigned. The study is underpinned by Rosenblatt’s Reader Response Theory, literacy principles, and sociocultural views. The study assumes that readers’ responses to literature involve critical and aesthetic reading-writing (literacy) events that are collaboratively constructed. The study involved an intact group (N=22) comprising EFL teacher trainees of a private education college in Ciamis, Indonesia, taking Literature Criticism subject. This time series pre-experimental study entailed repeated measurements of critical reading and assessments of aesthetic responses before and after the treatment. Before the treatment, New Critics’ conventional text-based teaching strategies were given. Findings of the study suggest that, quantitatively, as ANOVA proved, the use of reader response journal gave effects on the constantly better achievements, and, as the Paired t-Test indicated, the treatment resulted in better quality. Additionally, qualitative evidences revealed from observation, interviews, and document analysis showed better quality of the trainees’ aesthetic experiences reflecting varied reader response strategies. The study recommends further studies develop reader response-based literature teaching model across contexts in reference to gender issues.

Abstract:
The tradition of usage the national language foundation for Ukrainian syntactic terminology was continued іn linguistic works of the 20s – 30s of the 20th century. Such scholars as O. B. Kurylo, K. T. Nimchynov, I. I. Ogijenko, M. Perehinets, A. N. Sinyavsky, M. M. Sulyma and others support term creating process on the base of Ukrainian language. Terminological material illustrates the efforts of Ukrainian scientists to find motivated and transparent terms on the national ground, so their works will get criticism and accusations in nationalism. From the 30s of the 20th century theoretical developments in syntax and grammar of the Ukrainian language became slowlier in general. Supporters of Soviet ideology criticized linguists because of deliberate detachment from borrowed terminology, it caused scientists’ repression and the contempt of many grammatical works, textbooks, dictionaries etc. Using the terms of Russian grammar is domineering because of development and impact of studies on Russian syntax. The source of our modern terminology is Ukrainian grammar: Syntax (1935) by N. A. Kaganovich and G. V. Shevelev, which certified the basic terms of Ukrainian syntax: proste, skladne; povne, nepovne; poshyrene, neposhyrene; rozpovidne, pytalne, oklychne; osobove y bezosobove; rechennia skladne skladnopidriadne, skladnosuriadne; bezspoluchnykove etc. The choice of specific terms to denote syntactic concepts – is so called swing on an axis “own – borrowed”. During the formation of Ukrainian syntactic terminology linguists chose transparent nomination focused on native language. Authenticity of terminology arose sharply and was decisive for the formation of Ukrainian scientific language.

Abstract:
Abstract:
The paper presents a comparative analysis of the lexeme European in two language variations (British and American English) based on the built-in corpora represented by newspapers, fiction, etc. that are licensed by LancsBox software (AmE06 and BE06 respectively). The investigation describes the algorithms of implementing linguistic research as part of the project taught during the course “Multilingual Corpus and its Resources for European Studies (KNLU)” (Erasmus+ Program). The LancsBox user-friendly software, that works with major operating systems, has proved to be a powerful manager for compiling and using the existing corpora. It enables to visualize the textual data based on the following software package tools: KWIC, GraphColl, Words, Ngrams, Wizard, etc. essential for the study of a specific linguistic unit. The statistical analysis of both corpora under analysis has revealed that the word European belongs to the lexemes that are seldom employed in the language. The comparison of the two variations has shown that the word occurs in similar top-ten frequent collocates, however, the GraphColl tool visualization has indicated the major differences between two сorpora. Thus, in British English Corpus N+N structures are more commonly employed and are more vibrant than in American English Corpus. The t-test has proved a statistically significant difference between the corpora with regard to the linguistic variable European. These data may testify to cultural differences between the users of two language variations taking into account that both сorpora represent the same time frame.
