Abstract:
Understanding what is desired by Allah from the texts of the Qur’an that which is essentially many debatable than the immutable have led to a variety of concepts generated by the ushûliyyûn, like ‘âmm and muthlaq. These two concepts are very numerous and often intersect in the texts of the Qur’an, because the sturcture of the words on the legal source are mostly composed of ‘âmm and muthlaq words. Both have the differences and similarities in coverage breadth of its meaning. First, differences can be seen in the ‘âmm word covering the whole meaning of syar'î texts has many forms and varieties. While the muthlaq word consists only of nakirah word both singular and plural form. The other hand, the difference that in generality of ‘âmm is syumûlî and generality of muthlaq is badalî. In addition, the generality of ‘âmm from afrâd side (components), while the generality of muthlaq is from characteristic side. Secondly, the range of ‘âmm word is wider than the muthlaq word, due to the shape and variety of ‘âmm word more than the muthlaq word, ‘âmm word able to spend the amount of units more than the muthlaq word since the generality ‘âmm word on the side of component units, while the generality of the muthlaq word located on the side of characteristic.Copyright (c) 2016 by Al-Ihkam. Abstract:
This article aims to discuss the concept of absolute objects or maf'ul muthlaq in the Arabic perspective and analyze the examples in the Alquran, especially in juz Amma. Besides that, this article is also enriched with a comparative analysis between the concept of maf'ul muthlaq and the concept of cognate objects in English which are considered to have some similarities. In writing this article, the author uses descriptive qualitative approaches and types of library research. Data collected from primary and secondary sources include: articles in scientific journals relating to the study of nahwu and grammar, Arabic language books both in Indonesian as well as Arabic, seminar proceedings, scientific papers and so on. Furthermore, the data is read repeatedly, compared then analyzed to formulate conclusion. The finding shows that there are 15 maf'ul muthlaq case in juz Amma scattered in 8 surahs. 11 of them are maf'ul muthlaq as an affirmation and the remaining 4 are maf'ul muthlaq in qualitative meaning. All of them use fathah grammatical markers. The absolute object or maf'ul muthlaq and cognate object have similarities and differences. The similarities are in terms of the forming verb stem and the meaning of the absolute object itself as an explanatory type. While the differences are in the type of verb that can nominalize as an absolute object itself and its function as an affirmation and explanation of numbers.

Abstract:
The Purathinai literary tradition is not merely a literary tradition. It is also a social tradition of that period. On this basis, one of the disciplines of the Purathinai literary tradition, the Mullai of Muthin Mullai, has within itself a social life. Muthinmullai songs, which describe the valour of women, also record that it is the duty of women to save the family and society for the family. Through such records, the Muthin mullai songs show pieces of evidence to understand the primacy and supremacy of women's lives in society. The songs are used to explain how women are viewed and to confirm the social identities of women, referred to as a matrilineal society. This article also highlights the need to find more data on why the Tamil community was such a predominantly female community.

Abstract:
The new classical school's dominance of mainstream economic thought in recent years has brought with it the associated adoption of rational economic agents ( in the Muthian sense) by mainstream economists. This thesis challenges this underlying assumption of human behaviour in the context of the non-durable consumption expenditure decision making process. In doing so, our attention will be placed upon the weak or more general form of the hypothesis, which has come to be known as optimisation. We employ a behavioural methodology in an attempt to ascertain if individuals adhere to the optimising or satisficing model of human behaviour. In doing so time will be spent examining the bounded rationality hypothesis. We also employ a behavioural methodology in producing a non-durable consumption function that is econometrically comparable with an optimising model of non-durable consumption expenditure (namely the permanent income rational expectations hypothesis). The micro results produced in this thesis suggest that the respondents surveyed from non-durable consumption expenditure decisions that are sub-optimal in nature. The formation of these sub-tropical expenditure decisions appear to be a consequence of the cognitive constraints faced by our respondents, which in turn provides empirical support for the bounded rationality hypothesis. On a macro level, our behavioural consumption function generates results that are comparable with those produced by the optimising model employed in this thesis. Our results also question the rational expectations permanent income hypothesis (as it is usually applied), despite making adjustments to the model which remove the underlying assumption of known, constant real interest use

Abstract:
The focus of this study is the design of a public open space on the Mutha River corridor at Pune in India. Like any other river in India, the Mutha River has religious significance to the region. The river has influenced the location and development of the city and featured prominently in the history of the region. Most of the historic heritage values of the city are along the river and are located in the study area. Though the river has been abused by damming of the catchment, removal of vegetation for urbanization, polluted by human and industrial waste and channelization, it still provides opportunities to be developed as a recreational resource. Insights from a study of water bodies in Canberra, Australia, where the design of the water bodies for urban recreation encompass ideas of sustainable design, combined with an appreciation of the heritage of Indian design, are used for the river corridor development at Pune. The proposed development of the river corridor to include parkland is designed to provide a recreational open space for the community as well as improve the overall health and management of the Mutha River corridor. The proposal will also try and achieve long-term sustainability of the river. The design considers hydrological, morphological, ecological, water quality, aesthetic, vegetation, recreation and cultural issues. A more naturalistic channel as an alternative to a hard engineering solution is proposed. It provides protection from flood and erosion hazards, addresses social concerns like environment and health, and provides a more attractive landscape in the high-density section of the city

Masuku, M. T. (Mnyalaza Tobias). "The ministry of Dr Beyers Naude : towards developing a comprehensive mission (communication) strategy towards the victims of oppression." Thesis, University of Pretoria, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/25384.

Full text

Abstract:
This thesis proposes that the ministry of Dr Beyers Naudé to the victims of oppression during the apartheid rule in South Africa had a missionary dimension. It argues that the credibility of the Christian faith was challenged by the victims of oppression, as a result of the way in which it was used as a supportive tool for oppression. Through his ministry, Beyers Naudé succeeded in communicating the Christian faith in a special way to the victims of oppression. This led to a change of mind for the victims of oppression with regard to their negative attitude to the Christian faith. This study further resulted in the development of a comprehensive mission (communication) strategy to the victims of oppression. The argument is that there is another form of post-1994 victims of oppression in South Africa made out of those who feel left out by government poverty alleviation, economic development and service delivery programmes. The inability of government to strike a balance between the rich and the poor as well as corruption will always yield the ‘disadvantaged’ section of society who may feel ‘oppressed’, neglected and left out in favour of the few who have ‘connections’ at higher levels of government. These victims’ response will be characterized by anger which results into protest actions similar to those seen during the time of the ministry of Beyers Naudé. The question posed in this study is ‘how to minister to angry people who feel left out by government?’ In order to respond to this challenge and to equip ministers of religion and other interested people, a comprehensive mission (communication) strategy to victims of oppression was therefore developed based on the example of Beyers Naudé. The main question posed in this study around the reason for the success of Beyers Naudé’s ministry is “what ‘muthi’ did he use to win the hearts, love and support of the victims of oppression?” In order to answer this question, there is a three step approach that has been followed. Firstly I looked at factors that made him or influenced his making i.e. his life from his birth to his ‘conversion’, South African political landscape divided into two periods (1940-1963 and 1963-1994) as well as Faith Based Organisations’ response to apartheid. Secondly, I looked at his actual ministry to the victims of oppression from 1963 to 1994. I divided his ministry between the categories of centripetal and centrifugal patterns of mission. Thirdly a comprehensive mission (communication) strategy to the victims of oppression was developed, based on his contribution to a positive Christian witness. In the concluding chapter, I made some proposals for a way-forward in terms of areas for further study which were triggered by this research. The best statement for concluding this study, indicating the commitment of Beyers Naudé for God’s mission and how this was misunderstood by his church (the DRC) was taken from Mokgoebo (2009) who states: Beyers Naudé was a prophet of his time. As the saying goes, ‘the prophet is never respected at his own home’. His witness will remain long after we have gone, as a White man who was grasped by the powerful message of the Kingdom of God, of justice and reconciliation.

Abstract:
This book turns on the word motherfucker, springing from the genius of what Geneva Smitherman calls “Black Talk” and bearing a seemingly infinite range of variations and meanings. The Man in the proposed new geological age, the Anthropocene (“Age of Man” or “Age of Humans”), is the motherfucker in the word’s worst sense, while perennial Mother Nature-Earth epitomizes the word’s best sense—the “Mutha’,” the indomitable and inexhaustible force-source of continuous being, transformation, and renewal. The word motherfucker holds powers of invocation, curse, swear, prayer, and convocation. These powers structure this book.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: Frozen shoulder is a shoulder joint disorder that occurs in 2-5% of the world’s total population and causes pain, causing shoulder joint motion to be limited. Limited range of shoulder joint motion in frozen shoulder causing diminished functional activity ability. This research aims to determine the effect of giving training on scapula patterns to increase the range of shoulder movement in frozen shoulder case. Subjects and Method: This was an experimental study with one groups pre and posttest design. This study was conducted for 4 weeks with 8 times treatment at RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. The subjects selected in this study were six persons based on criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The dependent variable was shoulder range of motion. The independent variable was scapular pattern exercise. The data were collected by goniometer instrument and analyzed by paired T test. Results: Paired T test showed that shoulder range of motion exorotation (p= 0.001; 95% CI= -15.95 to -7.38) (Mean= 11.67; SD= 4.08), shoulder range of motion abduction (p< 0.001; 95% CI= -50.75 to -39.25) (Mean= 45.00; SD= 5.48), shoulder range of motion endorotation (p< 0.001, 95% CI= -29.73 to -15.27) (Mean= 22.50; SD= 6.89). Conclusion: Scapular pattern exercise can be recommended as a therapy to increase the range of motion of the shoulder joint in cases of frozen shoulder.
