Abstract:

Title: Comparative of muscle activity during the cycling step with the use of clipless and normal pedals. Objectives: Diploma thesis objective is to compare muscle activity during pedaling cycle with/without clipless pedal. Using EMG we want to establishe, if 6 chosen muscles are showing significant involvement difference for pedaling with/without clipless pedals. Methods: It is combination of empirical - theoretical thesis. Our work consists of intra- and interindividual comparative analytical study. We used two comparative methods for EMG signal evaluation - Pearson correlation coefficient and comparison with use of signed area of the region bounded by its graph. Results: The results of the correlation analysis show a high degree of compliance of the average normalized envelope diagrams for a cycling step with and without clipless. Based on the comparison of areas under the EMG curve, there is no higher muscle activation potential for the classic pedal. Keywords: cyclist, pedal, cycling step, muscle aktivity, electromyography

The diploma thesis deals with determination the influence of targeted motion activity on formation the right body holding habit in primary school pupils (teenagers). The research was realized at 2nd primary school in Jindřichův Hradec among the pupils in the 7th grade. The aim of the research was to compile an experimental as well as a control group. Within these groups an entrance examination in a form of standardized functional tests for the body holding appraisal and finding out the shortening and weakening the muscles was accomplished. Subsequently, an exercise programme for supporting the right body holding and elimination of muscle unbalance for the period of 6 weeks was put together. Afterwards, a final appraisal of the experimental and the control group was accomplished (the identical with the entrance one). When comparing the entrance and final examination we found out that within the experimental group all the monitored parameters improved. There was no positive change of monitored parameters within the control group that was not involved in the exercise programme.

This theses explores muscle activity during bow draw. The goal of his study is to evaluate whether muscle activity corresponds with increase in mechanical robusticity of the left humerus found in mezolithic osteological material. Muscle activity is measured by the means of surface electromyography. We measure activity of arm and back muscles. Activity was measured on m. deltoideus, m. infraspinatus, m. biceps brachii, m. triceps brachii and m. latissimus dorsi. Muscle activity was measured on 20 male archers, during bow draw of three wooden long-bows. Results of this study support the idea that change in robusticity of the left humerus could be caused by frequent bow use in post-glacial Europe.

1 Abstract The purpose of this study was to describe the degree of bilateral asymmetry of lower limbs' muscle activity in the dance movement Cha-cha-cha and to determine the cause of bilateral asymmetries of lower limbs' muscle activity. Differences in muscle activity of contralateral lower limbs might be caused by the factor of bilaterally asymmetrical movement patterns, the factor of neural pathways or the factor of training. We hypotetize that comparing the direction of bilateral asymmetry in muscle activity between asymmetrical dance movement and its mirror alternative can determine the cause of bilateral asymmetry in muscle activity of lower limbs within the movement. We studied 14 volunteers (7 men, 7 women), all were actively dancing at competitive level. We tested the muscle activity of musculus vastus lateralis (VL), musculus biceps femoris (BF), musculus tibialis anterior (TA) a musculus gastrocnemius lateralis (GL) using surface electromyography. The dance movement Cha-cha-cha was bilaterally asymmetrical in the muscle activity of VL, TA and GL. Direction of lower limbs' muscle activity indicates, that TA, being a muscle responsible for foot movement, might be affected by the factor of neural pathways and brain laterality, while VL and GL might be more affected by the factor of training. Interpretation of changes of humeral asymmetry during the Holocene period was based on the analysis of upper limb muscle activity during cereal grinding using the saddle quern and rotary quern. The aim of the diploma thesis was to test if the dominant upper limb muscle activity during cereal grinding using the saddle quern and rotary quern might be estimated by measuring the activity of musculus deltoideus (pars clavicularis), musculus infraspinatus, musculus pectoralis major and musculus triceps brachii (caput longum). Using surface electromyography, we have analyzed activity of musculus biceps brachii, musculus deltoideus (pars clavicularis), musculus deltoideus (pars acromialis), musculus deltoideus (pars spinalis), musculus pectoralis major, musculus infraspinatus, musculus triceps brachii (caput laterale) and musculus triceps brachii (caput longum) during cereal grinding using the saddle quern and rotary quern in 25 subjects. Consistent with our prediction, musculus biceps brachii was the least active muscle during saddle quern grinding and clockwise rotary grinding, therefore it is possible to exclude musculus biceps brachii from the sample of analyzed muscles. Pars clavicularis, pars acromialis and pars spinalis of musculus deltoideus were more active during rotary quern grinding than...

Title: Evaluation of the immediate influence of physical activity on the quality of postural functions of basketball players Author: Bc. Michaela Mudruňková Supervisor: PhDr. Tereza Nováková, PhD. Problem definition: Difficulties in the evaluation of the quality of postural functions and in the establishment of a so-called ideal posture stem from the diversity of views of different authors. Posture is definitely not the same as standing, but unfortunately many of the tests for postural functions evaluation focus only on that. Postural stability can be measured using device methods as well, but these devices are not available everywhere. Therefore, I have tried to create my own set of tests, which would best meet all requirements: simplicity, speed, availability and complexity of testing and evaluation of the quality of postural functions. Physical activity is followed by fatigue of the organism (decreased muscle strength, impaired movement coordination, ...). In my thesis I try to explain how fatigue manifests itself on the quality of postural functions and how to best assess the quality of postural functions using simple tests. The aim: The aims of this thesis are to develop an appropriate set of tests for evaluation of the quality of postural functions and to investigate the effects of different...

PaedDr. Dagmar Pavlů, CSc. Mgr. Iva Hnátová Consultant: PhDr. Aleš Kaplan, PhD. November 2012 SUMMARY Titel: The influence of the training program on muscle activity of lower limb muscles in relation to the risk factors of hamstring injury at soccer players. Objective: Hamstring strain is a serious injury and requires long-term treatment. Hamstring strain has a high risk of recurence. As a result of this injury is long-term lost of competition and training. Prevention is necessary because of this. The mechanism and etiology of this type of injury is still uncertain and still under discussion. Multifactorial etiology is commonly discussed. In our opinion, the best solution is the training program, which is made on the basis of cooperation the physiotherapists and coaches. The goal of this training program should be primary prevention of injury or reintegration of injured athlete in the training program or the prevention of reccurenc of injury. Title: Electromyographic Analysis of the Different Handlebars Grips Effect on the Shoulder Blade Fixators Aims: The main objective of this thesis is to carry out a methodological study on the impact of different handlebars grips on the shoulder blades fixators. Result of the grip change is not only reduction of the upper fixators activity and the increase in the lower fixators activity but also co-contraction index increase and muscle fatigue reduction. Based on the hypothesis we assumed that the highest activity rate of the lower blades fixators and the lowest activity rate of the upper blades fixators will be during the handlebars brakes grip. The highest co- contraction index will occur during the handlebar brakes grip and the maximum muscular fatigue will occur during the grip at the top of the handlebars. The first part of the thesis is focused on the literature search and facts retrieval pertaining to the studied issue. In the second special part of the thesis we conducted a research during which the muscle activity of the upper and lower blade fixators was recorded. Three different handlebars grips were considered during the measurement using the cycle ergometer. Methods: Muscle activity was scanned and recorded using surface EMG. This diploma thesis is focused on the observation of influence of Vojta's reflex locomotion on the activity of shoulder girdle's muscles at patients with the subacromial impingement syndrome. We examined ten patients with the subacromial impingement syndrome as well as twenty asymptomatic individuals. We evaluated the impact of just one Vojta's reflex locomotion therapy on the activity of muscles using the Method of the Surface Electromyography. At the same time we evaluated if the reaction on the therapy had some impact on measured values. The therapy always took at least time necessary to obtain any reaction of each of the individuals, although the maximum limit of the therapy was 32 minutes. The impact of Vojta's reflex locomotion therapy had not statistical importance with regard on changes of muscle activity after and before the therapy, with regard on the symmetry of muscle activity, as well as the difference of beginning of activation of every muscle before and after the therapy. The statistical importance was influenced just by the corporeal disposition of every measured individual, which was observed on the timing. The influence of the corporeal disposition on the average measured values with regard of the left - right side symmetry has no statistical importance. The statistical...

Abstract:

Title: Use of workout programme in fitness in reduction period Objectives: Objective of diploma thesis is to find out changes in body composition of six clients, who workout in fitness center for five months. Diploma thesis is focused on ganges of fat mass and muscle mass (ATH). Methods: In this thesis was used a method of analysis scientific literature. After that there was used qualitative research by fitness programme, which was used on six clients to find out changes of body composition after five months of workout. The workout was focused on a fitness-strenght workout in fitness centre for five months, consisting of two or three training sessions per week, every training session lasts 60 minutes. Results: Clients consist of 4 men and 2 women. Age of men was in a range of 19 to 49 years, final body weight was in a range of 76kg to 103kg, body height was measured from 174cm to 187cm. Age of women was 45 and 55 years, , final body weight was 75,5kg and 61,9kg, body height was 162cm and 163cm. Men decreased their fat mass in a range of 1,7 to 5,6kg, changes of ATH were measured in a range of +0,6kg to -1kg. Women decreased fat mass 6kg and 2,3kg down, ATH measurement results were +1,1kg and - 1,8kg. The intervention which was based on workout in fitness centre plus changes in nutrition created...

Abstract:
Title: The effect of foam roller on muscle tone after physical load Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to summarize theoretical knowledge about muscle, changes in muscle tension and possibilities of its affect. The aim of the practical part was to find out the effect of the foam roller on muscle tone after exercise. Methods: Practical part of this thesis was processed in biomechanical laboratory at FTVS UK in Prague and included 16 probands. We measured muscle tone of biceps brachii, m. triceps surae and m. quadriceps femoris before exercise, then the probands performed an activity aimed at increasing the muscular tension of the musculature mentioned above, after which we measured the muscle tension again. The foam rolling of each muscle group lasted for 60 seconds and then we measured the muscle tone for the last time. A myotonometer device was used and the data were transmitted by KISTLER MULTICHANNEL CHARGE AMPLIFIER and processed by the DeweSoftX3 (64 bit) programme in SIRIUS DEWEsoft S-BOX2 computer. At the end, we compared measured values with subjective sensations of the probands who filled quick questionnaire. Results: The measurement showed that after exercise, the muscular tensions of the muscle groups we selected increased, and at the same time that the application of the foam roller...

Abstract:
Title: Measurement of lower extremities spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis is to evaluate possibilities of lower extremities spasticity measurement in adult patients with cerebral palsy. The main focus was given to the concept of French professor J.-M. Gracies: Five- step clinical assessment in spastic paresis. This unique concept presents differentiation of three main factors of motor impairment that emerge as a result of a lesion to central motor pathways: stretch sensitive paresis, soft tissue contracture and muscle overactivity. Ability to distinguish these factors is crucial for specific treatment indication. Finding a correlation between the Five-step clinical assessment in spastic paresis and muscle activity in gait measured with polyEMG was the main objective in the practical part of the thesis. Methodology: This thesis has a theoretical-empirical character. The theoretical part is in a form of a research on the topic of spasticity diagnosis, focused on cerebral palsy patients. The empirical part of the thesis has a form of pilot quantitative research, which was attended by 6 participants with cerebral palsy (4 men and 2 women; average age 29 years). There were 2 independent measurement made for each of them. Each...

Title: The effect of progressive static stretching on treatment of spastic paraparesis in patients with cerebral palsy Objectives: The goal of this dissertation is to evaluate the effect of progressive static stretching on treatment of spastic paraparesis in patients with paraparetic form of cerebral palsy (CP). Elements chosen for the treatment were those of the therapeutic concept Guided Self-rehabilitation Contract by French professor Jean-Michel Gracies, which is presented in detail in the theoretical part of the dissertation. Methodology: This dissertation has a theoretical-empirical character. First theoretical part of the dissertation is in a form of a research on the topic of spasticity and diagnosis and treatment of spastic paresis according to the concept of J.-M. Gracies. Second experimental part of the dissertation evaluating the effect of the selected treatment for spastic paresis in people with cerebral palsy, has a form of pilot qualitative research, which was attended by 6 participants. At the beginning of the research each participant has undergone an entrance examination that evaluated spasticity using at first an unique assessing protocol Five step clinical assessment and consequently a surface electromyography. Based on this examination, each participant was instructed to follow...
