Abstract:
Music composition over the years has continued to be a much dreaded course of study by so many Nigerian students of Music in tertiary institutions. Through the interview conducted in this study, it was discovered that the students’ fear of the course stems from its abstractness or rather as a result of the erroneous belief that it is a very complex area of specialization to venture into, in music pedagogy. This study is aimed at disabusing the minds of the students of music from this xenophobic wrong impression and by creating an enabling mind-set and interest in music composition through this expository study on the multimedia technology as a vital instrument in music composition. A simple observation and comparison of the old manual system of music composition/notation with the new computer-assisted multimedia system reveals that the computer-assisted multimedia method is much better in terms of facility as well as performing numerous tasks than the old system and it is therefore recommended for compositional and notational purposes. Participation, interview, observation and literature review were the research methods employed for this study.Keywords: Multimedia, Technology, Music, Composition

This paper has two main objectives: (i) to discuss essential concepts of the ecological approach to composition, proposing the term eco-composition as a common reference for theoretical perspectives and compositional techniques; and (ii) to present the multimedia piece Vivir sin después, realised within the context of the Paititi Project.Following the Introduction, the paper is divided into two main sections. In section 2 we discuss issues raised by the application of the ecological approach to composition. Regarding the data-gathering procedures, eco-composition provides two effective methods: re-enaction and anchoring. Organisation of sonic materials is done through accumulation of heterarchical layers, giving rise to emergent musical phenomena. Section 3 dwells on the compositional strategies applied in the multimedia installation Vivir sin después. We describe the process of re-enacting the first Spanish trip through the Amazon River Basin, carried out by Francisco de Orellana and fifty-nine Spaniards in 1541. Then we address technical aspects of the piece, such as the application of multiple views of single entities, the development of non-hierarchical forms and the manipulation of sonic fields.

This composition includes in illustration music that explores the sounds of nature at dawn such as river sound, cicada’s sound, rooster’s sound, vehicle sound, the sound of people’s reciting verses in Quran, and Shalawat Tahrim as the sign of the entrance of Subuh prayer time. In this paper, through the improved decision tree algorithm, the handles in multimedia English assistance are parsed and simulated. In order to better perceive the sense of language in English composition and improve the rationality of intelligent evaluation, an N element based on association analysis is proposed. Sense value quantification calculates its support in the corpus by obtaining N-tuples of the composition. If the degree of support is lower than the threshold, the part where the language sense problem occurs is analyzed, and the type of language sense problem is judged for the students to provide assistance in modifying the composition. In addition, this paper also extracts word features, sentence features, and text structure features in the composition to fit the English handles analytical score. By testing the test set, the experiment shows that, by extracting the language sense features of the candidate’s English composition, it can not only judge whether there is a problem with the language sense of the candidate, but also provide a basis for the overall evaluation of the composition.

In this paper, a direct-mapping (DM)-based multi-input multi-output (MIMO) filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) underwater acoustic multimedia communication architecture (UAMCA) is proposed. The proposed DM-based MIMO-FBMC UAMCA is rare and non-obvious in the underwater multimedia communication research topic. The following are integrated into the proposed UAMCA: A 2 × 2 DM transmission mechanism, a (2000, 1000) low-density parity-check code encoder, a power assignment mechanism, an object-composition petrinet mechanism, adaptive binary phase shift keying modulation and 4-offset quadrature amplitude modulation methods. The multimedia signals include voice, image, and data. The DM transmission mechanism in different spatial hardware devices transmits different multimedia packets. The proposed underwater multimedia transmission power allocation algorithm (UMTPAA) is simple, fast, and easy to implement, and the threshold transmission bit error rates (BERs) and real-time requirements for voice, image, and data signals can be achieved using the proposed UMTPAA. The BERs of the multimedia signals, data symbol error rates of the data signals, power saving ratios of the voice, image and data signals, mean square errors of the voice signals, and peak signal-to-noise ratios of the image signals, for the proposed UAMCA with a perfect channel estimation, and channel estimation errors of 5%, 10%, and 20%, respectively, were explored and demonstrated. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed 2 × 2 DM-based MIMO-FBMC UAMCA is suitable for low power and high speed underwater multimedia sensor networks.

Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling (acak kelas), maka diperoleh sampel berjumlah 5 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif kualitiatif dan diwujudkan dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil karya poster ditinjau dari warna, tipografi, dan komposisi baik. Dari kategori di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil kemampuan siswa dalam membuat karya poster tergolong baik.Kata Kunci: analisis, warna, tipografi.AbstractThis study aims to determine the results of the poster's work in terms of color, typography and composition of all students' class X vocational high school multimedia deli tua. The population in this study were all students of class x vocational high school multimedia istiqlal Deli Tua which consisted of 4 classes with a total of 140 students. The sample in this study was taken by using cluster random sampling technique (random class), then the sample obtained was 20 people. data collection techniques through observation and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques and represented in the form of a table. The results of the research findings indicate that the poster works in terms of color, typography, and composition was good. Abstract:
This research is a classroom action research aimed at improving student learning outcomes in Civics lessons taught through CIRC learning models (Cooperative, Integrated, Reading and Composition) in Multimedia Class X Students of SMK Negeri 3 Watampone Kab. Bone with 35 students. The implementation of this action consists of two cycles, each cycle carried out through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used are the provision of tests and observation sheets. The results of the analysis obtained were changes in behavior of students who experienced an increase with the percentage in the first cycle only 94.2% and in the second cycle increased to 95.71% there was also an increase in attention, interest and motivation of students towards the subject matter given by the teacher. From this analysis, it can be concluded that the learning outcomes of PKn students in Class X Multimedia at SMK Negeri 3 Watampone have increased after being given action through the CIRC learning model (Cooperative, Integrated, Reading and Composition).

Abstract In this paper, the evolution of the style of Caravaggio had been traced and, focusing on the selected images it had been proved that the methods used by that eminent painter can successfully be applied during the creation of modern, effective multimedia presentations. The strength of Caravaggio was in its simplicity and mundane. For indicated formal measures may be included, inter alia: the elimination of tonally extended second plan and replace it with a dark, uniform background. Caravaggio calmed down composition painting almost monochromatic paintings, which emphasizes the foreground, as well as the keynote message. In the paper it was emphasized that exactly the same objectives should be guided in the creation of multimedia presentations, extracted from unnecessary embellishments that irrupt to the fore dispersing attention. Based on the analysis of selected paintings, in the article, review of procedures associated with the colors of multimedia presentations, extremely important in creating multimedia presentations and highlighting media had been proposed. Several theories related to the psychology of color had been also presented, and also sought to answer the question of why we should not trust psychologists boundlessly.

Multimedia content adaptation has been proved to be an effective mechanism to mitigate the problem of devices and networks heterogeneity and constraints in pervasive computing environments. Moreover, it enables to deliver data taking into consideration the user's preferences and the context of his/her environment. In this paper, we present an algorithm for service composition and protocols for executing service composition plan. Both the algorithm and the protocols are implemented in our distributed content adaptation framework (DCAF) which provides a service-based content adaptation architecture. Finally, a performance evaluation of the algorithm and the protocols is presented.

This research discusses the effectiveness of multimedia in the development of television montage, and aims to know the requirements of the television programes, to identify modern concepts related to multimedia and to know its relationship with the physical and engineering sciences and the use of these concepts on television programs, as well as a good understanding of montage content as part of television programs construction process. As for the research problem, it lies in the stagnation of some local TV programe and their lack of some elements of attraction and the lack of motivation for watching among some viewers, compared to the corresponding programe on foreign channels, and knowing the reasons for that stagnation.The research problem is represented in the following main question:What is the effectiveness of multimedia in the development of television montage?The research used the comparative approach, in view of clarifying the difference between employing the effectiveness of multimedia in developing montage for the two programe (Ashragat. Altufah Alakhdar). The tools used by the research are: scientific observation, interview and questionnaire form, to collect the necessary data to achieve the research objectives. The research community consists of specialists in the field of montage (montage technicians, graphic and motion graphic designers, and directors) because they are more knowledgeable and able to fulfill research requirements through practical reality. Among the most important findings of the research: Research has proven that the good graphics of their - two and three dimensions are attractive for content.Research has proven that general video montage consisting of composition of shots and their angles, composition of the image and its colors, sound, music and characters increases the quality of the video.The research confirmed the achievement of harmony between the multimedia elements that appear in the general shape of the image.In the light of these results, a number of recommendations were made, including: Good use of the image and the use of modern techniques for visual effects.The graphic component should be taken care of as the most important component of multimedia.Activating the websites of the channels and programs and providing the viewer with the programs.

AbstractGenerally, the artesian well water has a reddish or brown color after contact with air, leaving a yellow color on clothes and kitchen equipment, and potentially causing disease. Therefore, treatment is needed so that the well water is fit to be used as clean water. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of each filter media combination in reducing the parameters of organic matter in well water. Multimedia filters are used with shell sand media, manganese greensand and activated carbon with a height of 25 cm each media. Inlet discharge used is 0.05 m3/hour. The initial concentration of artesian well water parameters of organic matter 147.6 mg/L has exceeded the PERMENKES No. 32 the Year 2017 quality standard. The best results obtained after processing with multimedia filter namely a decrease in organic matter 147.6 mg/L to 6 mg/L with an efficiency of 95.94%.Keywords: artesian well water, activated carbon, manganese greensand and sand shells, Indonesia. AbstrakUmumnya air sumur bor memiliki warna kemerah-merahan atau coklat setelah terjadi kontak dengan udara, sehingga meninggalkan warna kuning pada pakaian dan peralatan dapur, serta berpotensi menimbulkan penyakit. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengolahan agar air sumur layak digunakan sebagai air bersih. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas setiap kombinasi media filter dalam menurunkan paramater zat organik pada air sumur. Digunakan multimedia filter dengan media pasir kerang, manganese greensand dan karbon aktif dengan ketinggian masing-masing media 25 cm. Debit inlet yang digunakan ialah 0,05 m3/jam. Konsentrasi awal air sumur bor parameter zat organik 147,6 mg/L telah melebihi batas baku mutu PERMENKES No 32 Tahun 2017. Hasil terbaik yang didapat setelah pengolahan dengan multimedia filter yakni terjadi penurunan zat organik 147,6 mg/L menjadi 6 mg/L dengan efisiensi 95,94%.Kata Kunci: air sumur bor, karbon aktif, manganese greensand dan pasir kerang, Indonesia.

This article introduces an open-source Java-based programming environment for creative coding of agglomerative systems using Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies. Our software originally focused on digital signal processing of audio—including synthesis, sampling, granular sample playback, and a suite of basic effects—but composers now use it to interface with sensors and peripherals through general-purpose input/output and external networked systems. This article examines and addresses the strategies required to integrate novel embedded musical interfaces and creative coding paradigms through an IoT infrastructure. These include: the use of advanced tooling features of a professional integrated development environment as a composition or performance interface rather than just as a compiler; techniques to create media works using features such as autodetection of sensors; seamless and serverless communication among devices on the network; and uploading, updating, and running of new compositions to the device without interruption. Furthermore, we examined the difficulties many novice programmers experience when learning to write code, and we developed strategies to address these difficulties without restricting the potential available in the coding environment. We also examined and developed methods to monitor and debug devices over the network, allowing artists and programmers to set and retrieve current variable values to or from these devices during the performance and composition stages. Finally, we describe three types of art work that demonstrate how the software, called HappyBrackets, is being used in live-coding and dance performances, in interactive sound installations, and as an advanced composition and performance tool for multimedia works.

This study examined the effectiveness of a series of Web-based, multimedia tutorials on methods of human body composition analysis. Tutorials were developed around four body composition topics: hydrodensitometry (underwater weighing), dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, bioelectrical impedance analysis, and total body electrical conductivity. Thirty-two students enrolled in the course were randomly assigned to learn the material through either the Web-based tutorials only (“Computer”), a traditional lecture format (“Lecture”), or lectures supplemented with Web-based tutorials (“Both”). All students were administered a validated pretest before randomization and an identical posttest at the completion of the course. The reliability of the test was 0.84. The mean score changes from pretest to posttest were not significantly different among the groups (65.4 ± 17.31, 78.82 ± 21.50, and 76 ± 21.22 for the Computer, Both, and Lecture groups, respectively). Additionally, a Likert-type assessment found equally positive attitudes toward all three formats. The results indicate that Web-based tutorials are as effective as the traditional lecture format for teaching these topics.

The objective of this Short Term Scientific Mission was to test the suitability of capillary electrophoresis for determination of rain water chemical composition. The fully functional, open-hardware, low-cost instrument was assembled and tested. An original protocol for determination of the chemical content of rain water was established and validated in the pilot test. Capillary electrophoresis proofed its highest suitability for the detection and quantification of ions in different samples, indicating substantial differences between clean and dirty snow waters. The hydrostatic sample injection method has been found very efficient and straightforward in manual and laboratory routines. An important deliverable of the Short Term Scientific Mission was a set of multimedia materials for the promotion of CE technique and especially low-cost CE instrumentation.

Testing methods using a black-box, which includes testing functionality testing camera angles and distances to the markers as well as testing the light intensity. The result of the design this application shows that for angle of 30 0 with a distance of 30 cm – 40 cm, angle of 45 0 with a distance of 40 cm – 70 cm and angle of 60 0 with a distance of 50 cm – 90 cm and light intensity 4 lx – 19 lx is a good composition can display the object 3 dimensions.

NOMADS (Network-Operational Mobile Applied Digital System) is a network client–server-based system for participant interaction in music and multimedia performance contexts. NOMADS allows large groups of participants, including the audience, to form a mobile interactive computer ensemble distributed across a network. Participants become part of a synergistic interaction with other performers, contributing to the multimedia performance. The system enhances local performance spaces, and it can integrate audiences located in multiple performance venues. Individual user input from up to thousands of simultaneous users across a network is synthesised into a single emergent sound and visual structure in an approach we call socio-synthesis. This paper recounts research leading up to NOMADS, outlines its technological architecture, and describes several implementations. Current applications include the telematic operaAuksalaq, and performances by the MICE Orchestra. The authors also consider the potential of large-scale human–computer ensembles as a paradigm for composition and performance.

Evaluation of Multimedia Applications in a Cluster-Oriented Environment In the age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Web and the Internet have changed significantly the way applications are developed, deployed and used. One of recent trends is modern design of web-applications based on SOA. This process is based on the composition of existing web services into a single scenario from the point of view of a particular user or client. This allows IT companies to shorten the product-time to market process. On the other hand, it raises questions about the quality of the application, trade-offs between quality factors and attributes and measurements of these. Services are usually hosted and executed in an environment managed by its provider that assures the quality attributes such as availability or throughput. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to perform quality measurements towards the creation of efficient, dependable and user-oriented Web applications. First, the process of designing service-based applications is described. Next, metrics for subsequent measurements of efficiency, dependability and usability of distributed applications are presented. These metrics will assess the efforts and trade-offs in a Web-based application development. As examples, we describe a pair of multimedia applications which we have developed in our department and executed in a cluster-based environment. One of them runs in the BeesyCluster middleware and the second one in the Kaskada platform. For these applications we present results of measurements and conclude about relations between quality attributes in the presented application development model. This knowledge can be used to reason about such relations for new similar applications and be used in rapid and quality development of the latter.

Abstract:
This article traces the audio production and soundscape composition for a multimedia work for any solo instrument, colour video, and digital sound. There is an account of earlier soundscape recordings of the Brooklyn Bridge. A description of the visual images of Jones Street is followed by a portrayal of the street life and consequent soundscape. There is a report on stereo recording techniques, the sounds that were gathered, and the sounds that were selected as source material. A discussion of philosophical and aesthetic considerations precedes a detailed explanation of the digital processing and composing methods.
