Abstract:
A multi-storey building is just a building that has multiple storeys above the ground. A multi storied building is either residential or commercial. Migration of individuals from rural to urban centres where job opportunities are significant. The land available for building to accommodate this migration is becoming scarce which ends in rapid increase within the cost of land. And this leads to construction of multi-storeyed buildings as they supply an outsized floor area in an exceedingly relatively small area of land in urban cities. A comparison of highrise buildings by response spectrum analysis in different seismic zones of India. The main objective of this research paper is to compare regular and irregular buildings in seismic zone III & zone V by response spectrum analysis in STAAD. Pro. The soil type taken into consideration is medium soil type. The aim is to find base shear, storey drift and story displacement and eigen value and eigen vector by response spectrum analysis. Cost analysis has also been done. Analysis is done as per IS 456:2000 and IS 1893:2002. It focuses on dynamic analysis of buildings. Without increasing the area, we can extend only the building’s floor to design a multi-storied building as this will save overall building cost. Key Words: Seismic Analysis, Response Spectrum Analysis, Base Shear, Storey Drift, Story Displacement, STAAD.Pro

Abstract:
Analyzed and calculated the energy savings of heat reflective coatings applied on multi-storied residential buildings and high-risen commercial buildings in Beijing. Some advices about the application of heat reflective coatings in northern cold region are given. Energy saving effect was evaluated with the building energy simulation in winter and summer while the heat reflective coating is applied on the surface of residential buildings and commercial buildings. Calculating results showed that the energy saving is the most optimal to the multi-storied buildings when the cool roof coatings is coated on the roofs and the glass heat reflective coating is applied on east and west windows. With the high-risen commercial building, the energy saving is noticeable when the glass curtain wall is coated with glass heat reflective coatings. The energy saving rate can reach a maximum of 13%.

Abstract:
Vibration of ground is the main cause of earthquake damage to building structures. There are many factors responsible for the strength of earthquake shaking at a site including the earthquake's magnitude, the site's proximity to the fault, the local geology, and the soil type. The natural disasters have been fast recurring all over the world causing great concern and damage to man and their properties. Among these disasters Earthquake is an endogenous natural disaster, which occurs suddenly without any warning. The vast devastation of engineering systems and facilities during the past earthquakes has exposed serious deficiencies in the prevalent design and construction. Shear wall is one of the most commonly used lateral load resisting in high rise buildings. Shear wall can be used to simultaneously resist large horizontal load and support gravity load. In the study, one tall RCC building of 13 stories is assumed to be situated in seismic zone V is analysed using two methods (Static and Dynamic Analysis). The share walls are taken at different position of building. The comparison of the different shear wall models is studied in this work against the different parameters like time period, bending moment, shear force, storey drift, displacement

Abstract:
Concrete is good in compression and weak in tension and the steel is strong in tension. So the use of reinforced concrete to resist compression and to hold bars in position and to the steel resist tension. In India RCC structures are commonly used in residential as well as business buildings. Nowadays the Post Tensioning method is widely used due to its advantages. Post tensioning is a form of prestressing, that means the steel is stressed before the concrete has to support the service loads. In this paper is exposed to the assessment of execution of Reinforced concrete beam (RCC beam) and Post-Tensioning beam (PT beam) multistoried building structure framework with seismic load using ETABS software. And also evaluate the performance of PT beam under different seismic zone (zone I, zone II) evaluate the performance of PT beam under soil type (medium soil) and compare the performance of RCC deep beam and PT beam with multistory building system with seismic loading performance.

Abstract:
The reliability-based analysis of engineering structures is a crucial aspect of their design, evaluation, and maintenance. Reliability-based analysis focuses on assessing the probability of failure and ensuring the safety and performance of structures under varying operating conditions and uncertainties. It involves accounting for uncertainties related to material properties, loads, environmental factors, and modeling assumptions. The analysis process typically begins by establishing a mathematical model that accurately represents the structural behavior and its response to applied loads and environmental influences. Probabilistic methods like the First Order Reliability Method (FORM) or Monte Carlo simulation are commonly employed to quantify reliability and estimate the probability of failure. Several key factors are considered in reliability-based analysis, including the selection of appropriate probability distributions for input variables, the definition of failure criteria, and the consideration of aging and deterioration effects over the structure's service life. Reliability indices, such as the probability of failure or safety margin, are calculated to assess the level of reliability and evaluate structural performance. The outcomes of reliability-based analysis support decision-making processes by enabling engineers to optimize designs, determine maintenance requirements, and ensure the safety and reliability of engineering structures. This systematic approach offers a framework to account for uncertainties and manage risks associated with structural performance.

Abstract:
This project named as “DESIGN OF EARTH-QUAKE RESISTANT MULTI-STORIED RCC BUILDING ON A SLOPING GROUND” involves the analysis of simple 2-D frames of varying floor heights and varying no of bays using a very popular software tool STAAD Pro. Using the analysis results various graphs were drawn between the maximum axial force, maximum shear force, maximum bending moment, maximum tensile force and maximum compressive stress being developed for the frames on plane ground and sloping ground. The graphs used to drawn comparison between the two cases and the detailed study of “SHORT COLOUMN EFFECT” failure was carried up. In addition to that the detailed study of seismology was undertaken and the feasibility of the software tool to be used was also checked. Till date many such projects have been undertaken on this very topic but the analysis were generally done for the static loads i.e. dead load, live load etc, but to this the earthquake analysis or seismic analysis is to be incorporated. To create a technical knowhow, two similar categories of structures were analyzed, first on plane ground and another on a sloping ground. Then the results were compared. At last the a structure would be analyzed and designed on sloping ground for all possible load combinations pertaining to IS 456, IS 1893 and IS 13920 manually.

SINHA, PRIYANKA. "ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF RAFT FOR DIFFERENT SOIL CONDITIONS FOR A MULTI STORIED BUILDING." Thesis, 2016. http://dspace.dtu.ac.in:8080/jspui/handle/repository/14869.

Full text
Abstract:
Raft foundations are large inverted concrete slabs supporting superstructure through pedestals and walls. The choice of Raft slab can be made under following circumstances: 1) The bearing capacity of soil is low, 2) The columns are spaced so close that the isolated footings overlap 3) The column loads are heavy so that most of the area(>50%) is covered by spread footings. 4) At some locations, there is soft soil. Raft foundations are best suited to use for deep basements, both to spread the column loads uniformly, and to provide basement floor slab. Raft foundations are useful in reducing the differential settlements and sustaining large variations in loads on the individual columns. In conventional analysis of raft foundation, the reactive soil pressures due to the loads from the structure is important as the raft is subjected to bending due to loads from the structure and also from the reactive pressure offered by the soil. These effects considerably alter the forces and the moments in the structural members. In the present work, analysis is carried out for six different types of raft(i.e., flat plate raft, slab beam raft, flat plate raft thickened under column, flat plate raft with pedestal, box type raft and pile raft) on six different soils. These raft foundations are analyzed by using SAFE-v12software for a fifteen storied building on six different soil conditions. This fifteen storied building of 3 bay x 3 bay is analysed to get base reactions under columns using ETABS software. The deflections, punching shear, shear force and bending moments obtained for these rafts on various soils are compared. The result indicates the significant effects of shape of the flat plate thickened under column and flat plate with pedestal raft in resisting punching shear is more efficient among these types. Box type raft and Beam slab raft is more efficient in resisting shear force and bending moments.

Abstract:
In the concrete era of construction activities, there is scarcity of land especially in metro cities. Even though if there is availability of land it may in the sloping ground, hillocks or on land filled areas, in such areas there will be difficulty in the construction and design aspects. To maintain the slope of the strata, different degrees of such buildings step back towards the slanting slope and may likewise also have set back simultaneously. Hence in the present paper, an attempt has been made to study, G+12 storey building assumed to be in flat ground and also on sloping ground with 20 degree inclination. The model considered to be a soft storey with infill walls and two different shear wall arrangements. The building has been modelled in ETABS software with response spectrum method of analysis. The study reveals that model with shear wall improves the performance of the structure in terms of displacement, drift and time period apart from the fact that the structure being constructed in normal ground or sloping ground.
