Abstract:
There has been a growing interest in constructing stationary measures with known multifractal properties. In an earlier paper, the authors introduced themultifractal products of stochastic processes(MPSP) and provided basic properties concerning convergence, nondegeneracy, and scaling of moments. This paper considers a subclass of MPSP which is determined by jump processes with i.i.d. exponentially distributed interjump times. Particularly, the information dimension and a multifractal spectrum of the MPSP are computed. As a side result it is shown that the random partitions imprinted naturally by a family of Poisson point processes are sufficient to determine the spectrum in this case.

Abstract:
To deal with the uncertainty and disturbance that exist in the tracking system of an aerospace vehicle, an adaptive trajectory-tracking method based on a novel tracking model predictive static programming (T-MPSP) is proposed. Firstly, to make the proposed method more adaptive to uncertain parameter deviations, an extended Kalman filter (EKF) parameter correction strategy is designed. Then, the control constraints are considered to form a novel T-MPSP algorithm. By combining the parameter correction strategy with the improved T-MPSP algorithm, a novel adaptive tracking guidance scheme is presented. Finally, simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:
AbstractImprinted genes uniquely drive and support fetoplacental growth by controlling the allocation of maternal resources to the fetus and affecting the newborn’s growth. We previously showed that alterations of the placental imprinted gene expression are associated with suboptimal perinatal growth and respond to environmental stimuli including socio-economic determinants. At the same time, maternal psychosocial stress during pregnancy (MPSP) has been shown to affect fetal growth. Here, we set out to test the hypothesis that placental imprinted gene expression mediates the effects of MPSP on fetal growth in a well-characterized birth cohort, the Stress in Pregnancy (SIP) Study. We observed that mothers experiencing high MPSP deliver infants with lower birthweight (P=0.047). Among the 109 imprinted genes tested, we detected panels of placental imprinted gene expression of 23 imprinted genes associated with MPSP and 26 with birthweight. Among these genes, five imprinted genes (CPXM2, glucosidase alpha acid (GAA), GPR1, SH3 and multiple ankyrin repeat domains 2 (SHANK2) and THSD7A) were common to the two panels. In multivariate analyses, controlling for maternal age and education and gestational age at birth and infant gender, two genes, GAA and SHANK2, each showed a 22% mediation of MPSP on fetal growth. These data provide new insights into the role that imprinted genes play in translating the maternal stress message into a fetoplacental growth pattern.

Abstract:
This paper proposes an improved Generalized Quasi-Spectral Model Predictive Static Programming (GS-MPSP) algorithm for the ascent trajectory optimization for hypersonic vehicles in a complex flight environment. The proposed method guarantees the satisfaction of constraints related to the state and control vector while retaining its high computational efficiency. The spectral representation technique is used to describe the control variables, which reduces the number of decision variables and makes the control input smooth enough. Through Taylor expansion, the constraints are transformed into an inequality containing only decision variables, such that it can be added into GS-MPSP framework. By Gauss quadrature collocation method, only a few collocation points are needed to solve the sensitivity matrix, which greatly accelerates the calculation. Subsequently, the analytical expression is obtained by combining the static optimization with the penalty function method. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed improved GS-MPSP algorithm can achieve both high computational efficiency and high terminal precision under the constraints.

Abstract:
Tick-borne pathogens cause economically significant diseases in cattle. Theileria spp. are parasitic protozoa and the causative agent of bovine theileriosis. Here we report the distribution and risk factors of bovine Theileria using blood samples taken between 2018 and 2019. Of 737 tested cattle, nine animals (1.2%) were positive for Theileria orientalis infection by 18S rRNA gene amplification. Further analysis of the infected samples using the T. orientalis major piroplasm surface protein (MPSP) gene revealed five different genotypes circulating in the population: Types 1, 2, 3, 7, and N3. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research to describe the existence of the T. orientalis MPSP genotype N3 in South Korea. Although the prevalence of bovine T. orientalis was low, our study offers data on the geographical distribution and prevalence of bovine Theileria spp. in South Korea. Further studies are warranted to determine the correlation of clinical symptoms with parasite MPSP genotypes. Our data provide epidemiological information to help control bovine theileriosis in South Korea.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a CKF-MPSP guidance method for hitting stationary targets with impact time and angle constraints for missiles in the presence of modeling errors. This innovative guidance scheme is composed of three parts: First, the model predictive static programming (MPSP) algorithm is used to design a nominal guidance method that simultaneously satisfies impact time and angle constraints. Second, the cubature Kalman filter (CKF) is introduced to estimate values of the influence of the inevitable modeling errors. Finally, a one-step compensation scheme is proposed to eliminate the modeling errors’ influence. The proposed method uses a real missile dynamics model, instead of a simplified one with a constant-velocity assumption, and eliminates the effects of modeling errors with the compensation scheme; thus, it is more practical. Simulations in the presence of modeling errors are conducted, and the results illustrate that the CKF-MPSP guidance method can reach the target with a high accuracy of impact time and angles, which demonstrates the high precision and strong robustness of the method.

Abstract:
SUMMARYTo investigate the phylogeny of benignTheileriaparasites, we determined the complete major piroplasm surface protein (MPSP) gene sequences for 6 benign theilerial organisms, including the first from tick. Sequences were analysed alongside published sequences for 39 benignTheileriaparasites, using Bayesian inference and maximum parsimony. All MPSP sequences were 852 nucleotides, except for Gansu, Wuchangbuf, VB01, and VB01; Gansu contained 873 nucleotides, and the other 3 had 855. Deduced amino acid sequences contained 284 residues, except for Gansu (291) and Wuchangbuf, VB01, and VB01 (285 each). Pairwise comparisons showed identities among 45 theilerial MPSP sequences ranging from 70·9 to 99·8% for nucleotide and 71·0 to 100% for amino acid sequences. Our results clearly indicate that all global parasites, excluding Brisbane, were classified into 1 of 8 types; 6 types ofTheileriaexist in Korea. Each type, excluding Type 6, has several type-specific amino acid sequences. The phylogenetic tree derived from the nucleotide sequences showed 2 sister-group relationships, Type 2+Type 7 and Type 3+Brisbane, with a new branching pattern: (Type 6 (Type 8 ((Type 2, Type 7), (Type 1, (Type 4, (Type 5, (Type 3, Brisbane))))))). Our sequence data showed no geographical influence on worldwideTheileriaparasite distribution.

Abstract:
When sample replicates are limited in a label-free proteomics experiment, selecting differentially regulated proteins with an assignment of statistical significance remains difficult for proteins with a single-peptide hit or a small fold-change. This paper aims to address this issue. An important component of the approach employed here is to utilize the rule of Minimum number of Permuted Significant Pairings (MPSP) to reduce false positives. The MPSP rule generates permuted sample pairings from limited analytical replicates and simply requires that a differentially regulated protein can be selected only when it is found significant in designated number of permuted sample pairings. Both a power law global error model with a signal-to-noise ratio statistic (PLGEM-STN) and a constant fold-change threshold were initially used to select differentially regulated proteins. But both methods were found not stringent enough to control the false discovery rate to 5% in this study. On the other hand, the combination of the MPSP rule with either of these two methods significantly reduces false positives with little effect on the sensitivity to select differentially regulated proteins including those with a single-peptide hit or with a <2-fold change.

Abstract:
Nowadays, department stores and online merchants usually develop some price promotion strategies to attract customers and increase their purchase intention. Therefore, it is significant for customers to pick out attractive products and obtain the maximum discount rate. Admittedly, the skyline query is a most useful tool to find out attractive products. However, it does little to help select the product combinations with the maximum discount rate. Motivated by this, we identify an interesting problem, a most preferential skyline product (MPSP) combination discovering problem, which is NP-hard, for the first time in the literature. This problem aims to report all skyline product combinations having the maximum discount rate. Since the exact algorithm for the MPSP is not scalable to large or high-dimensional datasets, we design an approximate algorithm that guarantees the accuracy of the results. The experiment results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our proposed algorithms.

Abstract:
A new nonlinear guidance law for air-to-ground missile cooperation attacks is proposed in this paper. This guidance law enables missiles with different initial conditions to attack targets simultaneously, and it can also precisely satisfy the terminal impact angle conditions in both flight-path angle and heading angle. The guidance law is devised using the model predictive static programming (MPSP) method, and the control saturation constraint is incorporated in the MPSP algorithm. The first-order-lag acceleration of the missile is taken as the state variable to realize the convergence of the terminal acceleration to zero. Moreover, a collision avoidance strategy for three-dimensional missile cooperative flight is proposed. The simulation results show that the guidance law can make the missiles hit the target accurately at the same time with the ideal impact angles and can realize the control saturation constraints of the missiles. This can increase the attack effects and is significant for collaborative attacks.

Abstract:
The mine production scheduling problem (MPSP) has been studied since the 1960s, and remains an active area of computational research. In extending the concepts of the MPSP, the automated mine may now be regarded as a hierarchical intelligent agent in which the bottom layer consists of distributed robotic equipment, while strategic functionality occupies the higher layers. Here we present a disambiguation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational optimization, and automation within the mining context. Specifically, the Q-learning algorithm has been adapted to generate the initial solutions for a high-performing strategic mine planning algorithm, originally developed by Lamghari, Dimitrakopoulos and Ferland, based on the variable neighbourhood descent (VND) metaheuristic. The hierarchical intelligent agent is presented as an integrative conceptual platform, defining the interaction between our new Q-learning adaptation and Lamghari's VND, and potentially other hierarchically controlled components of an artificially intelligent mine, having various degrees of automation. Sample computations involving Q-learning and VND are presented.

Abstract:
This work is the extension of our previous paper [Nikpour et al., J. Electrochem. Soc. 168, 060547, (2021)] which introduced the multi-phase smoothed particle (MPSP) model. This model was used to simulate the evolution of the microstructure during the drying and calendering manufacturing processes of four different electrodes. The MPSP model uses particle properties to predict overall film properties such as conductivities and elastic moduli and is validated by multiple experiments. In this work, the model is used to investigate the effects of active material particle size, shape, orientation, and stiffness on graphitic anodes. The model predicts that smaller active particles produce higher calendered film density, electronic conductivity, MacMullin number, and Young’s modulus, as compared to larger active particles. Rod-shaped active materials have greater ionic transport and lower electronic transport compared to the disk and sphere shapes, which have similar transport properties. During calendering, disk-shaped particles tend to be oriented horizontally, which decreases through-plane ionic transport. Increasing the stiffness of the active material increases film porosity and composite Young’s modulus, while lowering electronic transport and increasing ionic transport.

Abstract:
A waypoint constrained multi-phase nonlinear optimal guidance scheme is presented in this paper for the soft landing of a spacecraft on the Lunar surface by using the recently developed computationally efficient Generalized Model Predictive Static Programming (G-MPSP). The proposed guidance ensures that the spacecraft passes through two waypoints, which is a strong requirement to facilitate proper landing site detection by the on-board camera for mission safety. Constraints that are required at the waypoints as well as at the terminal point include position, velocity, and attitude of the spacecraft. In addition to successfully meeting these hard constraints, the G-MPSP guidance also minimizes the fuel consumption, which is a very good advantage. An optimal final time selection procedure is also presented in this paper to facilitate minimization of fuel requirement to the best extent possible. Extensive simulation studies have been carried out with various perturbations to illustrate the effectiveness of the algorithm. Finally, processor-in-loop simulation has been carried out, which demonstrates the feasibility of on-board implementation of the proposed guidance.

Abstract:
Emerging infectious diseases represent an increasing threat to human and animal health. Therefore, safe and effective vaccines that could be available within a short time frame after an outbreak are required for adequate prevention and control. Here, we developed a robust and versatile self-assembling multimeric protein scaffold particle (MPSP) vaccine platform using lumazine synthase (LS) from Aquifex aeolicus. This scaffold allowed the presentation of peptide epitopes by genetic fusion as well as the presentation of large antigens by bacterial superglue-based conjugation to the pre-assembled particle. Using the orthobunyavirus model Schmallenberg virus (SBV) we designed MPSPs presenting major immunogens of SBV and assessed their efficacy in a mouse model as well as in cattle, a target species of SBV. All prototype vaccines conferred protection from viral challenge infection and the multivalent presentation of the selected antigens on the MPSP markedly improved their immunogenicity compared to the monomeric subunits. Even a single shot vaccination protected about 80% of mice from an otherwise lethal dose of SBV. Most importantly, the MPSPs induced a virtually sterile immunity in cattle. Altogether, LS represents a promising platform for modular and rapid vaccine design.

Abstract:
Under the modern world market conditions the investment activity of enterprises is increasing. Therefore, one of the main aspects of the investment activity guarantee is a selection and apprehension of the main principles of the investment control and possi-bilities of different uses of the investment instruments. For the optimum selection of the investment projects it is suggested to use a formalistic experimental author’s modified method of priority allocation and selection, which gives an opportunity to evaluate the investment project according to different partial criteria and their meaning of importance. Working out this way a complex evaluation of each chosen investment project is obtai-ned. Using the suggested MPSP (modified method of priority allocation and selection) the investment projects are evaluated with qualitative and quantitative criteria. So this method can be used when qualitative criteria of evaluation are predominated. Formalis-tic methods of analysis cannot be used to establish quantitative criteria and those small projects when it is relatively too expensive to apply other usual methods of the financial economic analysis. Method MPSP selection is universal and ordinary so it can be used to establish the efficiency of different projects, to classify projects, to model the strategy of the state economy. If you like to control the realization of the chosen investment project more effectively and rationally it is suggested to use PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique). The main control elements of the investment project are reviewed in the article using PERT which is useful to draw up an optimistic reticular schedule of the investment work implementation.

Tick-borne hemoprotozoan and rickettsial diseases affect the health and productivity of small ruminants in tropical and subtropical regions. Despite the large population of goats in the southern part of Thailand, there is limited information on the prevalence of tick-borne pathogens. In this study, polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the presence of Theileria spp., T. ovis, T. orientalis, Babesia ovis, Anaplasma ovis, and A. marginale in 262 goats from three provinces in the southern part of Thailand. In this investigation, Theileria spp. and A. ovis were detected while T. ovis, B. ovis, and A. marginale were not detected. Overall infection rates of Theileria spp. and A. ovis were 10.3% and 1.5%, respectively. The co-infections of two parasites was observed in 1.5% of goats. Sequence analysis showed the presence of T. luwenshuni and T. orientalis in the goat samples. This study is the first to use the molecular detection of T. orientalis in Thai goats, and presents genetic characterization using the major piroplasm surface protein (MPSP) gene. In the phylogenetic analysis, the T. orientalis MPSP sequence was classified as type 7. The A. ovis major surface protein 4 (MSP4) gene sequences shared high identities and similarity with each other and clustered with isolates from other regions. This study provides information about the prevalence and genetic diversity of tick-borne pathogens in goats in the study area, and is expected to be valuable for the development of effective control measures to prevent disease in animals in Thailand.

Abstract:
Saccharomyces cerevisiae MPS1 encodes an essential protein kinase that has roles in spindle pole body (SPB) duplication and the spindle checkpoint. Previously characterized MPS1 mutants fail in both functions, leading to aberrant DNA segregation with lethal consequences. Here, we report the identification of a unique conditional allele, mps1–8, that is defective in SPB duplication but not the spindle checkpoint. The mutations in mps1-8 are in the noncatalytic region of MPS1, and analysis of the mutant protein indicates that Mps1-8p has wild-type kinase activity in vitro. A screen for dosage suppressors of the mps1-8 conditional growth phenotype identified the gene encoding the integral SPB component SPC42. Additional analysis revealed that mps1-8 exhibits synthetic growth defects when combined with certain mutant alleles of SPC42. An epitope-tagged version of Mps1p (Mps1p-myc) localizes to SPBs and kinetochores by immunofluorescence microscopy and immuno-EM analysis. This is consistent with the physical interaction we detect between Mps1p and Spc42p by coimmunoprecipitation. Spc42p is a substrate for Mps1p phosphorylation in vitro, and Spc42p phosphorylation is dependent on Mps1p in vivo. Finally, Spc42p assembly is abnormal in a mps1-1 mutant strain. We conclude that Mps1p regulates assembly of the integral SPB component Spc42p during SPB duplication.

Abstract:
The MPS1 gene from Saccharomyces cerevisiae encodes an essential protein kinase required for spindle pole body (SPB) duplication and for the mitotic spindle assembly checkpoint. Cells with the mps1-1 mutation fail early in SPB duplication and proceed through monopolar mitosis with lethal consequences. We identified CDC37 as a multicopy suppressor of mps1-1 temperature-sensitive growth. Suppression is allele specific, and synthetic lethal interactions occur between mps1 and cdc37 alleles. We examined the cdc37-1 phenotype for defects related to the SPB cycle. The cdc37-1 temperature-sensitive allele causes unbudded, G1 arrest at Start (Reed, S.I. 1980. Genetics. 95: 561–577). Reciprocal shifts demonstrate that cdc37-1 arrest is interdependent with α-factor arrest but is not a normal Start arrest. Although the cells are responsive to α-factor at the arrest, SPB duplication is uncoupled from other aspects of G1 progression and proceeds past the satellite-bearing SPB stage normally seen at Start. Electron microscopy reveals side-by-side SPBs at cdc37-1 arrest. The outer plaque of one SPB is missing or reduced, while the other is normal. Using the mps2-1 mutation to distinguish between the SPBs, we find that the outer plaque defect is specific to the new SPB. This phenotype may arise in part from reduced Mps1p function: although Mps1p protein levels are unaffected by the cdc37-1 mutation, kinase activity is markedly reduced. These data demonstrate a requirement for CDC37 in SPB duplication and suggest a role for this gene in G1 control. CDC37 may provide a chaperone function that promotes the activity of protein kinases.

Abstract:
The linker of the nucleoskeleton and cytoskeleton (LINC) complex is composed of two transmembrane proteins: the KASH domain protein localized to the outer nuclear membrane and the SUN domain protein to the inner nuclear membrane. In budding yeast, the sole SUN domain protein, Mps3, is thought to pair with either Csm4 or Mps2, two KASH-like proteins, to form two separate LINC complexes. Here, we show that Mps2 mediates the interaction between Csm4 and Mps3 to form a heterotrimeric telomere-associated LINC (t-LINC) complex in budding yeast meiosis. Mps2 binds to Csm4 and Mps3, and all three are localized to the telomere. Telomeric localization of Csm4 depends on both Mps2 and Mps3; in contrast, Mps2’s localization depends on Mps3 but not Csm4. Mps2-mediated t-LINC complex regulates telomere movement and meiotic recombination. By ectopically expressing CSM4 in vegetative yeast cells, we reconstitute the heterotrimeric t-LINC complex and demonstrate its ability to tether telomeres. Our findings therefore reveal the heterotrimeric composition of the t-LINC complex in budding yeast and have implications for understanding variant LINC complex formation.

Abstract:
The spindle pole body (SPB) is the sole site of microtubule nucleation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yet, details of its assembly are poorly understood. Integral membrane proteins including Mps2 anchor the soluble core SPB in the nuclear envelope. Adjacent to the core SPB is a membrane-associated SPB substructure known as the half-bridge, where SPB duplication and microtubule nucleation during G1 occurs. We found that the half-bridge component Mps3 is the budding yeast member of the SUN protein family (Sad1-UNC-84 homology) and provide evidence that it interacts with the Mps2 C terminus to tether the half-bridge to the core SPB. Mutants in the Mps3 SUN domain or Mps2 C terminus have SPB duplication and karyogamy defects that are consistent with the aberrant half-bridge structures we observe cytologically. The interaction between the Mps3 SUN domain and Mps2 C terminus is the first biochemical link known to connect the half-bridge with the core SPB. Association with Mps3 also defines a novel function for Mps2 during SPB duplication.

Abstract:
The MPS2 (monopolar spindle two) gene is one of several genes required for the proper execution of spindle pole body (SPB) duplication in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ( Winey et al., 1991 ). We report here that the MPS2 gene encodes an essential 44-kDa protein with two putative coiled-coil regions and a hydrophobic sequence. Although MPS2 is required for normal mitotic growth, some null strains can survive; these survivors exhibit slow growth and abnormal ploidy. The MPS2 protein was tagged with nine copies of the myc epitope, and biochemical fractionation experiments show that it is an integral membrane protein. Visualization of a green fluorescent protein (GFP) Mps2p fusion protein in living cells and indirect immunofluorescence microscopy of 9xmyc-Mps2p revealed a perinuclear localization with one or two brighter foci of staining corresponding to the SPB. Additionally, immunoelectron microscopy shows that GFP-Mps2p localizes to the SPB. Our analysis suggests that Mps2p is required as a component of the SPB for insertion of the nascent SPB into the nuclear envelope.

The major part of students at institutions of higher learning has shown an aversion for statistics. These attitudes impede on students’ performance. Among factors affecting students’ achievement in the subject is self-efficacy, self-concept, anxiety and low self-perception. In the main, this study sought to explore students’ perceptions and attitudes towards statistics. Data used was collected through SATS-36 and MPSP questionnaires from students who availed themselves for lectures of first year statistics and statistics related courses at a university in South Africa. The findings proved that students’ perceived academic and professional relevance of statistics relates to their statistics proficiency. Students with low statistics self-perception are bound to develop negative attitudes towards the subject. Interest, mathematics and statistics self-efficacy, enjoyment, worth, relevance and effort were identified as precursors of statistics course achievement.

Abstract:
Accurate duplication of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae spindle pole body (SPB) is required for formation of a bipolar mitotic spindle. We identified mutants in SPB assembly by screening a temperature-sensitive collection of yeast for defects in SPB incorporation of a fluorescently marked integral SPB component, Spc42p. One SPB assembly mutant contained a mutation in a previously uncharacterized open reading frame that we call MPS3 (for monopolar spindle). mps3-1 mutants arrest in mitosis with monopolar spindles at the nonpermissive temperature, suggesting a defect in SPB duplication. Execution point experiments revealed that MPS3 function is required for the first step of SPB duplication in G1. Like cells containing mutations in two other genes required for this step of SPB duplication (CDC31 and KAR1), mps3-1 mutants arrest with a single unduplicated SPB that lacks an associated half-bridge. MPS3 encodes an essential integral membrane protein that localizes to the SPB half-bridge. Genetic interactions between MPS3 and CDC31 and binding of Cdc31p to Mps3p in vitro, as well as the fact that Cdc31p localization to the SPB is partially dependent on Mps3p function, suggest that one function for Mps3p during SPB duplication is to recruit Cdc31p, the yeast centrin homologue, to the half-bridge.

Abstract:
Computing the shortest path between a pair of nodes is a fundamental graph primitive, which has critical applications in vehicle routing, finding functional pathways in biological networks, survivable network design, among many others. In this work, we study shortest-path queries over uncertain networks, i.e., graphs where every edge is associated with a probability of existence. We show that, for a given path, it is # P -hard to compute the probability of it being the shortest path, and we also derive other interesting properties highlighting the complexity of computing the Most Probable Shortest Paths (MPSPs). We thus devise sampling-based efficient algorithms, with end-to-end accuracy guarantees, to compute the MPSP. As a concrete application, we show how to compute a novel concept of betweenness centrality in an uncertain graph using MPSPs. Our thorough experimental results and rich real-world case studies on sensor networks and brain networks validate the effectiveness, efficiency, scalability, and usefulness of our solution.

Abstract:
Abstract Mutation of either the yeast MPS2 or the NDC1 gene leads to identical spindle pole body (SPB) duplication defects: The newly formed SPB is improperly inserted into the nuclear envelope (NE), preventing the cell from forming a bipolar mitotic spindle. We have previously shown that both MPS2 and NDC1 encode integral membrane proteins localized at the SPB. Here we show that CUE1, previously known to have a role in coupling ubiquitin conjugation to ER degradation, is an unusual dosage suppressor of mutations in MPS2 and NDC1. Cue1p has been shown to recruit the soluble ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme, Ubc7p, to the cytoplasmic face of the ER membrane where it can ubiquitinate its substrates and target them for degradation by the proteasome. Both mps2-1 and ndc1-1 are also suppressed by disruption of UBC7 or its partner, UBC6. The Mps2-1p mutant protein level is markedly reduced compared to wild-type Mps2p, and deletion of CUE1 restores the level of Mps2-1p to nearly wild-type levels. Our data indicate that Mps2p may be targeted for degradation by the ER quality control pathway.

Abstract:
It is crucial to the eucaryotic cell cycle that the centrosome undergo precise duplication to generate the two poles of the mitotic spindle. In the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, centrosomal functions are provided by the spindle pole body (SPB), which is duplicated at the time of bud emergence in G1 of the cell cycle. Genetic control of this process has previously been revealed by the characterization of mutants in CDC31 and KAR1, which prevent SPB duplication and lead to formation of a monopolar spindle. Newly isolated mutations described here (mps1 and mps2, for monopolar spindle) similarly cause monopolar mitosis but their underlying effects on SPB duplication are unique. The MPS1 gene is found by electron microscopy to be essential for proper formation of the site at which the new SPB normally arises adjacent to the existing one. By contrast, a mutation in MPS2 permits duplication to proceed, but the newly formed SPB is structurally defective and unable to serve as a functional spindle pole. Distinct temporal requirements for the CDC31, MPS1, and MPS2 gene functions during the SPB duplication cycle further demonstrate the individual roles of these genes in the morphogenetic pathway.

In this article, a new two-parameter model called the truncated Cauchy power-inverted Topp–Leone (TCP-ITL) is constructed by merging the truncated Cauchy power -G (TCP-G) family with the inverted Topp–Leone (ITL) distribution. Some structural properties of the newly suggested model are obtained. Different types of entropies are proposed under the TCP-ITL distribution. Under the complete and hybrid censored data, the maximum likelihood (ML), maximum product of spacing (MPSP), and Bayesian estimate approaches are explored. A simulation study is developed to test the proposed distribution’s restricted sample attributes. In the majority of cases, the numerical data revealed that the Bayesian estimates provided more accurate outcomes than the equivalent alternative estimates. The adaptability of the proposed approach is proven using examples from dependability, medicine, and engineering. A real-world data set is utilized to demonstrate the potential of the TCP-ITL distribution in comparison to other well-known distributions. The results of the model selection revealed that the proposed distribution is the best choice for the data sets under consideration.

As a flexible manufacturing technique, Multi-point stretch forming (MPSF) is a suitable method for forming aircraft outer skin part. The traditional solid stretching die is replaced by the discrete multi-point die (MPSD), and the sheet metal is stretch-formed over the MPSD generated by serial adjusting mode or parallel adjusting mode. The MPSF can be used to form the parts of different shape and reduce the cost and leading time of stretching die fabrication for aircraft outer skin part. A series of numerical simulations on typical MPSF processes of aircraft outer skin part were carried out. The thickness of elastic cushion and free length are important factors to influence on the stretch forming results of stretch-formed parts. The numerical simulation results show that the thicker the elastic cushion is, the more valid the dimple will be suppressed .The longer the free length is, the easier the wrinkle will be brought.

Abstract:
Mps1 is a conserved kinase that in budding yeast functions in duplication of the spindle pole body (SPB), spindle checkpoint activation, and kinetochore biorientation. The identity of Mps1 targets and the subdomains that convey specificity remain largely unexplored. Using a novel combination of systematic deletion analysis and chemical biology, we identified two regions within the N terminus of Mps1 that are essential for either SPB duplication or kinetochore biorientation. Suppression analysis of the MPS1 mutants defective in SPB duplication and biochemical enrichment of Mps1 identified the essential SPB components Spc29 and the yeast centrin Cdc31 as Mps1 targets in SPB duplication. Our data suggest that phosphorylation of Spc29 by Mps1 in G1/S recruits the Mps2–Bbp1 complex to the newly formed SPB to facilitate its insertion into the nuclear envelope. Mps1 phosphorylation of Cdc31 at the conserved T110 residue controls substrate binding to Kar1 protein. These findings explain the multiple SPB duplication defects of mps1 mutants on a molecular level.

Compared to free antigens, antigens immobilized on scaffolds, such as nanoparticles, generally show improved immunogenicity. Conventionally, antigens are conjugated to scaffolds through genetic fusion or chemical conjugation, which may result in impaired assembly or heterogeneous binding and orientation of the antigens. By combining two emerging technologies—i.e., self-assembling multimeric protein scaffold particles (MPSPs) and bacterial superglue—these shortcomings can be overcome and antigens can be bound on particles in their native conformation. In the present work, we assessed whether this technology could improve the immunogenicity of a candidate subunit vaccine against the zoonotic Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV). For this, the head domain of glycoprotein Gn, a known target of neutralizing antibodies, was coupled on various MPSPs to further assess immunogenicity and efficacy in vivo. The results showed that the Gn head domain, when bound to the lumazine synthase-based MPSP, reduced mortality in a lethal mouse model and protected lambs, the most susceptible RVFV target animals, from viremia and clinical signs after immunization. Furthermore, the same subunit coupled to two other MPSPs (Geobacillus stearothermophilus E2 or a modified KDPG Aldolase) provided full protection in lambs as well.

Abstract:
Nanocellulose (NC) is an emerging natural material that offers great potential for various applications due to its unique properties and renewable character. Nowadays, as NC production technologies are advancing, it is essential to evaluate their economic feasibility, technological maturity and commercialization potential using systematic techno-economic analysis (TEA). The present study considers both technical and economic aspects of NC production and analyzes them in two ways: first, by developing a new concept based on the production of different types of NC through the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass by chemical and mechanical technologies, and second, by a comparative review of existing TEA studies in the open literature. Three specific scenarios and two case studies are evaluated by comparing specific key performance indicators (KPIs), such as the production cost (PC) and minimum product selling price (MPSP) of NC. As a result, a short though comprehensive overview of the current state of NC production is provided, highlighting the main technical and economic challenges associated with it. Key areas for future research and innovation (R&I) are also identified to optimize the production processes and reduce relevant costs, in order to make NC competitive with existing materials and realize its full potential.
