Abstract:
The paper presents a new procedure for bronze surface hardened by using intensive heating with laser beams (over 103 °C/s) which superficially melts the material. Afterwards the whole mass of the piece is subjected to blast cooling. For the used experimental conditions it was obtained a fine quenching microstructure with high harnesses, till 350 HV 0.5. The resulted structure has extremely fine grains which give an excellent resistance to cavitation erosions, because the dislocations movemement was heavily suppressed. Secondary, the residual compression tensions existing in the superficial layer delay the initiation of the cracks. Tertiary, the effects of bubble implosions are attenuated as a result of the holes realized on the surface by the laser beams treatment. Finally, the power of the laser beams upon the increase of the cavitation resistance was put into evidence.

Abstract:
Nomadism in postmodern stands as a principle of diffusion, allocation of bodies on social plane, implying a disruption with any fixedness: with Homeland, Home, family, identity. This principle is based on the constant movement, changes of the body. The following strategy forms a special chronotopy: space is constructed rhysomically (astructurally, acentered with equality of all possible directions of movement), and time is read a a cyclic present or as deplyment of past-future (Chronos and Eon in the concept of G. Deleuze). With transition to postmodern not only a man became a carrier of nomadic features, but also the bodies of an objective world became nomadic. Miniaturization of objects , which is accompanied by their intellectual filling, allows them to not only dive in an act of movement, but also incite movememnt and form space for realization of their own movement. A car, which in modern performed the function of subjugation of space with speed, in postmodern changed its functionality to comfort, and seriously influenced the formation of the map of the city. In this article a phenomenon of autonomadism is explored (embodiment of nomadism as a social strategy of mobility) through automobilization of society. Theoretical basis of the study is nomadological project of Deleuze – Guattari and concept of paradygm of mobility J. Urry. Among indicators which allow to talk about autonomadism are chronotopical metamorphosis in the reading of ambient landscape of motorists and the loss of identity, which led to the occurence of a hybrid “driver – car”. The following study showed that in postmodern Russian cities – metropolis a quiescence is seen as deviation and is socially excluded, spaces of quiet ar colonized by cars, sedentary places are exiled from the city or demand high economical expenses, which makes the settled way of life unprofitable.

Abstract:
This paper presents the results of a marine geophysical/geotechnical survey, which was carried out between Kerkyra and Paxi slope (part of the western Greek slope). The main bathymorphological features are numerous canyons and intercanyon ridges that exhibit high slope gradients (up to 30Ί). The canyon flanks as well as the ridges are affected by numerous mass movements that include slides, rotated sediment blocks, well-expresed sediment detachment surfaces, mass flows and creeping. Most of the aforementioned movememtns present a retrogressive action of the failure mechanism. The unstable sediment masses are often transported through the canyons and are deposited in the adjacent basin creating a sequence of alternating mass flow deposits and turbiditic/hemipelagic sediments. The gravity cores collected along two ridges, in the Kerkyra and Paxi slopes, revealed a certain sedimentary sequence consisting of calcareous ooze, oxidized mud and a sapropel layer overlaying hemipelagic mud. Along those sediment facies turbiditic muddy to sandy deposits usually appear. The main geotechnical characteristics of these lithofacies are the low undrained shear strength and high water content in the sapropel layer and the inverse relationship of the abovementioned properties in the oxidized mud. The water content of all the sediments is higher than the liquid limit indicating the very soft nature of the deposits and the possible destabilization upon disturbance (i.e. earthquake). The stability of the sedimentary cover was evaluated using the infinite slope, the Bishop and the Janbu methods. The main results that stemmed from the analysis are that (i) the Kerkyra slope is unstable both in static and dynamic conditions and (ii) the Paxi slope is unstable in dynamic conditions, whilst the very surficial layers (<1.5m in thickness) can be also unstable under static conditions. The possible failure planes are located 5-20m under the seabed. The absence of the oxidized mud and sapropel layers in the Kerkyra slope as well as their presence in the Paxi slope, and the presence of an episapropelic layer in the Kerkira-Paxi basin are all indicative of the unstable nature of the seafloor. Cyclic loading by earthquakes, high slope gradients and sediment bedding parallel to the slope are believed to be the predominant slope failure mechanisms in the surveyed area.

Abstract:
Next generation sequencing (NGS) refers to a group of innovative sequencing techniques that allow analyzing a high number of DNA or RNA sequences both for diagnostic and research purposes. As compared to traditional Sanger sequencing, NGS allows analyzing at the same time a large number of genes causally linked to human pathology or to search for new genes. In the first case, customized gene panels are used, with relatively low costs and substantial advantages in terms of time. Movement disorders are a heterogeneous group of neurological diseases that can manifest at any age with an abnormal movement production. There are several genetic causes of movement disorders, especially in the pediatric population, and NGS is contributing to significantly widen our knowledge of the genetic bases of several of these rare disorders. At Carlo Besta Neurological Institute, a large cohort of patients with rare movement disorders are followed, including a substantial proportion of pediatric cases. During my PhD course, we applied targeted resequencing and Whole Exome Sequencing to selected patients, kindreds or homogeneous subgroup of patients affected by specific movement disorders (e.g. chorea, dystonia) as part of routine diagnostic workup or in collaboration with foreign Institutes, with a particular focus on pediatric patients. We were able to identify carriers of recently discovered genes (ADCY5, PDE10A) and to widen the phenotypic spectrum previously associated with known genes (GNAL, PSEN1). Moreover, we contributed to international projects that allowed the discovery of new genes responsible for movement disorders (KCTD17, PDE10A) mainly with onset in childhood. Despite some technical limitations that still need some caution, the advent of NGS is profoundly changing the way clinicians diagnose movement disorders and is contributing to progressively decrease the proportion of patients with genetically undefined rare disease.
