Abstract:
An addition of centrifugal pump on the engine of automatic motorcycles is expected to become one of the solutions for fire incidents in densely populated areas in big cities. Many cases of fire-related incidents have not been handled properly due to limitations of access for fire engines such as narrow alleys. The effectiveness of the centrifugal pump for firefighter motorcycles is determined by the optimum function of the pump performance according to the desired specification. The repair of the brackets and the clutch mechanism for the pump in the engine of automatic motorcycles may assist to the full effectiveness of the pump. The repair is based on the stability of the number of cycle on the centrifugal pump during the cycle of the motorcycle engine without any load. There is no disruption to the motorcycle cruise control or an increase of load due to the addition of centrifugal pump in the motorcycle’s engine. By using the magnetic clutch which uses the electrical energy in the connection and disconnection of the joint, this model will be useful since it does not disrupt the motorcycle cruise performance and does not add an extra load to the motorcycle torso.

Abstract:
The students of grade XI of the Motorcycle Business Engineering of Vocational High School, who have learned productive subject matter in Motorcycle Engineering and Business, often experience difficulties when directly confronted with motorcycle practice media because the components are closed and hidden by the motorcycle's body cover. Therefore, a learning media which is easy to be learned by the students is essential. It means that all components can be observed clearly, and the material can be understood easily, both in theory and electrical practicum of the motorcycle starter system; the students will better understand the theory and assemble the motorcycle starter system circuit. The learning media for the motorcycle starter system is an electrical board with LEDs that can light up continuously or alternately, so it simulate the workings of the motorcycle starter system. In addition, the running LED simulation makes it easier for students to assemble a starter system. It also makes it easy and fast for students to identify, understand how it works, assemble a motorcycle starter system, and later, when facing practical materials in the form of motorbikes, students will be quicker to apply the material that they acquired from the learning media, so that, in practicum, students will work faster and minimize damage to motorcycles.

Abstract:
Based on the source and comparative analysis of the history of creation, design, and production of the Kyiv Motorcycle Works’ motorcycles, the value of the MT10-36 motorcycle as the landmark of science and technology has been determined. It has been shown that the development of a new engine and MT10-36 motorcycle was, first of all, the initiative of the plant’s engineers. Ovcharenko M. completed the development of a 650 cubic capacity boxer engine. The design of new units and a vehicle outpaced the technological capabilities of the plant. This led to a delay in introducing new technology into production. The involvement of the Foundry Department of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute under the leadership of K. Vashchenko made it possible to improve the production technology of the motorcycle engine. The reliability of the engine has increased. The design of the engine of the Kyiv Motorcycle Works was in line with the tendencies of the world motorcycle industry. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the MT10-36 motorcycle design and the Ural motorcycle of the Irbit plant (Russian Federation), the strengths and weaknesses of the vehicle design have been determined. Selected episodes of sales of the Kyiv Motorcycle Plant’s motorcycles within the country and abroad have been highlighted. It has been highlighted that the motorcycle was operated in conditions that did not reveal its speed and transport capabilities. The motorcycle’s design outpaced the pace of development of transport infrastructure (highways). The basic principles of museification of motor vehicles have been considered. It has been noted that one of the valuable qualities of the landmark of technology is the reflection of the peculiarities of the use of the object and its change after leaving the plants’ shop. Some aspects of the principles of technique restoration as a material historical source with the optimal preservation of the landmark and the information reflected in it have been considered. It has been concluded that the MT10-36 motorcycle meets the criteria of the landmark of science and technology in the broad sense of this concept. The motorcycle embodies the original technical solutions of native engineers, reflects the level of development of domestic technology and illustrates the practice of operating motorcycle technology.

Abstract:
The development of red boxes for motorcycles in Indonesia was initially adopted from the advanced stop line (ASL) for bicycles. The bike box concept was adopted for motorcycles in Indonesia. To date, red boxes have been fully implemented in 21 cities in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of traffic light countdown timers and motorcycle lanes as an approach to the red box for motorcycles at signalized intersections. There were four locations studied in Denpasar Bali, i.e., red boxes with countdown timer only (Condition 1), red boxes with motorcycle lane only (Condition 2), red boxes with countdown timer and motorcycle lane (Condition 3), and red boxes without countdown timer and without motorcycle lane (Condition 4). The analysis results based on motorcycle volume data indicate that a countdown timer has a significant effect in increasing motorcycle acceleration when the green light starts, reducing the possibility of motorized vehicles other than motorcycles stopping in the red box area and reducing stop line violations while waiting during a red light. Meanwhile, the presence of a motorcycle lane as an approach lane to enter the red box area has a significant influence on increasing the occupancy of the red box by motorcycles. In addition, the correlation test shows that the countdown timer has a strong correlation with the occupancy of the red box to capacity and to stop line violation. Meanwhile, the level of traffic flow is strongly correlated with the countdown timer and motorcycle lane.

Abstract:
Background. The aims of this study were to identify subgroups of motorcyclists with a higher accident risk and evaluate the efficiency of protective clothing for preventing injuries.Methods. A 1-year prospective study of motorcycle crashes was conducted beginning in June 2012. Participants were patients involved in motorcycle crashes and admitted to our emergency department.Results. A total of 226 patients were included in the study. In total, 174 patients were involved in crashes with light motorcycles. Patients involved in a motorcycle accident without a helmet had a higher incidence of head and maxillofacial trauma. Motorcycle jackets were not protective for systemic injuries (P>0.05) or upper extremity fractures (P>0.05). Motorcycle pants (P>0.05) and motorcycle shoes (P>0.05) were not protective against leg and foot fractures. However, motorcycle protective clothes were protective against soft-tissue injuries (P=0.001).Conclusion. Riders of heavy motorcycles rode more safely than riders of light motorcycles. Light motorcycle riders were the most vulnerable and comprised the largest percentage of motorcyclists. Helmets may be effective for preventing head and facial injuries. Other protective clothes were not effective against fractures or systemic injuries.

Abstract:
Motorcycles in Iran, especially in metropolises such as Tehran, are used extensively for various reasons such as low maintenance costs, high maneuverability, and the possibility of entering congestion priced zones without paying a toll. Nevertheless, motorcycles are involved in 25% of accidents and produce almost 30% of air and 50% of noise pollution in Tehran. Current research aims to investigate possible scenarios for reducing the use of motorcycles in Tehran’s traffic and transportation master plan strategies. After designing the scenarios, a stated preference method is used for gathering the required data from various groups of motorcycle riders in Tehran. More than 2,000 questionnaires were completed of which 1,766 were deemed acceptable for data entering and further analysis. Increasing the price of motorcycle maintenance and charging motorcycles to enter the congestion priced zone of Tehran (CPZT) were two main scenarios which were considered in this research. Multinomial and nested logit models were applied to analyze the trip choice behavior of motorcycle riders who had participated in the survey. Results indicated that strategies such as increasing motorcycle maintenance costs could be effective in reducing the use of motorcycles. For instance, increasing motorcycle maintenance costs by 4.7 times and imposing a 70,000 IRR toll price to enter the CP zone resulted in a 66% reduction in motorcycle mode choice by motorcycle riders.

Abstract:
Motorbike vehicles are the most widely used private transportation by people to travel to places near and even far. In addition to motorcycles having a price that is relatively affordable by the public, motorcycles are much easier to go through all the congested and narrow road terrains. The increasing number of motorcycles circulating around and also the weak security system of motorcycles are one of the causes often targeted by theft. In this study, we provided a solution to this security by building a motorcycle security control system that can be accessed and controlled remotely using a Smartphone. The system installed on this motorcycle uses a microcontroller (Arduino Mega2560), a global positioning system (GPS) module, a vibration sensor module, and a relay module. The GPS module helps to determine the coordinates of the position of the motorcycle. These coordinates are sent and displayed through the Android application on the smartphone of the motorcycle owner. Based on the results of several tests, the system used can communicate well between the motorcycle and the motorcycle owner through the internet network, as long as the devices in the vehicle are connected to the internet network.

Abstract:
Motorcycle riders have been the top contributor to road deaths for over a decade in Malaysia. With proper safety technology systems installed on the upcoming models, it is predicted that motorcycle crashes and deaths can be reduced in the next decade. This study aims to review the past, recent, and upcoming vehicle safety technologies from the motorcycle and passenger car perspective that can potentially help reduce motorcycle crashes and injury risks. Various safety technologies have been introduced for passenger cars such as anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control, lane keep assistance, traction control, blind-spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and many more. With the requirements of ASEAN NCAP, these technologies are introduced to make passenger cars safer and to avoid road collisions, especially with the motorcycle. However, the opposite is true for motorcycles where only expensive motorcycles have these safety technologies, while for lower- capacity motorcycles, only basic and compulsory technologies are introduced even though this group remains the top contributor to motorcycle crashes and road deaths in Malaysia. Therefore, it is suggested that more safety technologies be introduced for motorcycles especially lower-capacity models. While for passenger cars, there are newer technologies that can be introduced to improve the current offerings to enhance the safety of passenger cars and other vehicles on the road and reduce the risk of road fatalities.

Abstract:
With the rapid rise in problems associated with use of motorcycles as alternative means to inadequate public transportation, this study seeks to identify household factors influencing motorcycle ownership in Makurdi. The study estimates the influence of the various household factors identified and a model for predicting motorcycle ownership is developed for the study area. Data were collected via a questionnaire survey of 1412 households in the study area. The survey revealed that the number of motorcycles owned per household in the low density zone was 0.67 while that for the medium and high density zones was 0.62 and 0.79 respectively. The multinomial logit model developed predicted that 67% of households owned motorcycles as compared to 71% observed from survey data. Severity applications of the model to test the effects of changing economic situations on motorcycle ownership showed that residents of the study area are more disposed to owning motorcycles in periods of recession than periods of economic boom. The study gives an understanding of motorcycle growth pattern and ownership characteristics in the study area and will therefore serve as a relevant input for planning, regulation and control of motorcycle activities in the study area.

There is a widespread belief that motorcycles are more difficult to detect in traffic than are cars and trucks, which has led to much research designed to enhance motorcycle conspicuity. This paper examines the basic concept and finds that it lacks empirical support. Further, a number of other possible explanations could account for the differences one finds when comparing car-motorcycle and car-car collisions. Additional research is required to determine whether conspicuity is a special problem for motorcycles and the extent to which such a problem might contribute to crash involvement.

Abstract:
Motorcycle bans have been implemented in many cities across China for long time, one of the main reasons for which is the high death rate of the traffic accidents related to motorcycles’ fast speed and weak safety. This study applies a quasi-experiment on whether or not and when motorcycle bans are implemented in the 11 prefecture cities in Zhejiang Province, taking the prefecture-level cities with motorcycle bans as the experimental group and the others as the control group, so as to identify whether such bans can effectively reduce the number of traffic accidents and deaths, as well as the related internal mechanism. This study concludes that the effect of the motorcycle bans on reducing the number of traffic accident deaths is significant, and their impact does not decrease over time due to the diversity of policies. Further, the mechanism analysis shows that the motorcycle bans have not only reduced the number of motorcycles and thus may improve the traffic safety but also diminished the traffic accidents by reducing the fatality rate. Finally, this study proposes to optimize the motorcycle bans by planning special lanes and strengthening motorcycle management.

Abstract:
Research shows that about half of all motorcycle collisions with other vehicles were caused by the accident opponent, typically a passenger car. This study aimed to assess the effect of simulator training on improving car drivers’ perceptibility of motorcycles and thereby addressing this frequent type of motorcycle accident from the perspective of the initiator. For this purpose, a training program with different methods was conducted and tested in a driving simulator with 80 learner drivers aged between 15 and 27 years, assigned to a control group and three training groups: variable priority, equal priority, and equal priority with warning. The conflict scenarios were determined based on an analysis of motorcycle–car accidents. The variable priority training program resulted in better perceptibility of motorcycles as compared to the equal priority training program and equal priority with warning in two out of four test setups, i.e., urban roads with high contrast between motorcycle and the driving environment and on rural roads with a low contrast. Most participants rated each training method in the driving simulator as useful and would recommend it to other learner drivers. These results are important because they show that simulator training has a positive effect on the motorcycle detection performance of learner drivers. The early perception of motorcycles in car drivers is essential for preventing collisions between cars and motorcycles.

Abstract:
Motorcycle theft is getting more disturbing, so it encourages the author to make security devices on motorbikes. This study has created a security system that can secure motorcycles using an e-SIM based on the Atmega-8 Microcontroller. Where the e-SIM has a chip, the chip itself has 7 bytes. In this case, the authors take advantage of the 7-byte chip in the e-SIM. The e-SIM will replace the motorcycle ignition key. Not only that, but the e-SIM will also give orders to the motor starter to start the motorcycle. Thus, only the owner of the e-SIM who already has a sim can give the motorcycle ON and OFF orders. The research method used is direct observation of the selected object, namely the author's home environment, and conducting literature studies related to the Atmega-8 microcontroller. This study aims to create a security system for motorcycle vehicles to avoid theft and the use of motorcycles for children without driving licenses

Abstract:
The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 mandated that motorcycles be permitted to travel on federally funded high-occupancy-vehicle (HOV) facilities unless they created a safety hazard or adversely affected HOV operations. Although motorcycles had previously been banned from traveling on Virginia's HOV lanes, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) authorized motorcycle travel on HOV facilities in Virginia as of September 21, 1992, for a 2-year trial period. Study of that 2-year trial period found that motorcycles account for as much as 3 percent of the annual peak traffic volume on some HOV lanes. However, in the 2 years after the CTB authorized their travel on HOV facilities, there were only five motorcycle crashes on HOV lanes in the peak direction during hours that HOV restrictions were in effect. The study concludes that there is no evidence that allowing motorcycles to travel on HOV lanes in Virginia has an adverse impact on motorcycle safety or congestion on HOV lanes.

Abstract:
Motorcycle is the most popular transportation means in Vietnam due to its low cost and flexibility. However, motorcycles emit substantial quantities of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and some amount of particulate matter. Emission factors for in-use motorcycles in Vietnam were studied and established quite a long time ago. The objective of this study is to update the emission factors, not only gaseous emissions but also particle number, for in-use motorcycles in Vietnam. Ten carbureted and electronic fuel injected motorcycles representative for in-use motorcycles were selected for investigation. Each motorcycle was fueled by conventional gasoline, E5 and E10 in turn, and was tested on a chassis dynamometer according to ECE R40 driving cycle. The gaseous emissions were sampled and determined by standard methods, while the particle number in exhaust gas was sampled by using the sampling system developed by Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam. The updated emission factors were then provided for carbureted motorcycles, EFI motorcycles and average motorcycle fleet in case of gasoline, E5 and E10 fueling.

Abstract:
Out of many plausible causative factors for the spike in accidents, lack of riding skills is reported to be a significant reason for motorcycle mishaps. The riding skills can be improved through better availability of training facilities (simulator). Non-availability of the dimensional database (of different types of motorcycles), which are essential for simulator design, makes it difficult for the designers/ engineers to build the commercially available cheaper motorcycle-simulators. Moreover, the available measuring techniques and devices are costly and unable to satisfy motorcycle measurement's diverse requirements. Thus, the present research aimed to prepare the dimensional database of motorcycles using an in-house fabricated measuring instrument. Following the adaptive design method, the alpha prototype of a laser-pointer-based measuring instrument was developed. The calibrated device was used for measuring the dimensions associated with the handlebar, seat, and footrest of the 23 different motorcycles under study. Detailed (linear, angular, and circumferential) dimensions of the handlebar, seat, and footrest were measured using sliding calipers and protractors. Generated dimensional databases of 18 critical dimensions from the handlebar, seat, and footrest of the 23 different standard-motorcycles would be useful for deciding the motorcycle simulator's dimensions.

Abstract:
Although Florida law requires all motorcyclists to wear helmets, 16 percent of all motorcycle drivers and 30 percent of all their passengers killed in motorcycle crashes in 1996 were not wearing protective helmets. In addition, the use of novelty helmets may be on the rise in states with universal helmet laws. The objectives of this research were to determine motorcycle helmet use rates on Florida roadways and to estimate the level of novelty helmet use by motorcycle occupants. A total of 2,498 motorcyclists in 13 Florida counties were observed over a 2-month period. Data were collected on helmet use and type, motorcycle type, gender, and use of other safety equipment. Almost all motorcycle occupants wore some type of helmet; the observed state-level usage rate was 99.5 percent. However, a significant number of these helmets were novelty helmets. The type of helmet motorcyclists choose to wear may be related to the type of motorcycle driven and the gender of the driver and passenger. Overall, novelty helmet use was higher for passengers than for drivers, and the majority of observed novelty helmets were on motorcycle occupants riding cruiser-type motorcycles. Moreover, females exhibited lower rates of compliance than males, especially when associated with cruiser-type motorcycles. Although the survey did not collect information about the reasons for the increase in novelty helmet use, possible explanations may be that novelty helmets are more readily available at lower cost, and that there is an overall perceived lack of enforcement of the motorcycle helmet use law.

Abstract:
Motorcycles are widely used in people’s daily lives for their convenience. Due to their characteristic of static instability, they have a larger roll angle than cars when turning, which brings the hidden danger of overturning. When a motorcycle is turning and braking simultaneously, the overturn risk rises dramatically. This study presents a novel control system that can ensure stability and braking performance during turning and braking. Given the direct impact of tires on a motorcycle’s behavior, a motorcycle tire model was created via Magic Formula to determine the kinematic parameters that have correlated effects on the longitudinal and lateral characteristics of tires. The slip ratio was defined as the manipulated variable, and a constrained optimization model that aimed to maximize the braking performance and took the stability as the constraint condition was created and solved through the gold section method. The obtained optimal slip ratio was then used as the input for the proposed cornering braking control system that adopted the Fuzzy PID algorithm. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed controller was tested via a co-simulation method, and the simulation results were compared with an ordinary anti-lock braking system. The results demonstrate that the proposed cornering braking control system can take both motorcycle stability and braking performance into consideration at the same time, effectively increasing the security of a motorcycle during braking in a turn.

Abstract:
Motorcycle is a popular mode of transportation in many developing countries, including Pakistan. Since the last decade, the registered number of motorcycles in Pakistan has increased by six times, constituting 74% of the total registered vehicles. However, limited research efforts have been made to investigate motorcycle-related safety issues in Pakistan. Thus, the relationship between potential risk factors and injury outcomes of motorcycle crashes is still unclear in the country. This study, therefore, established a random parameter logit model to examine the factors associated with the motorcycle injury severity. The analysis is based on two years (2014–2015) of data collected through the road traffic injuries surveillance system from Karachi city, Pakistan. The results indicate that the summer season, weekends, nighttime, elderly riders, heavy vehicle, and single-vehicle collisions are positively associated with fatalities, while the presence of pillion passengers and motorcycle-to-motorcycle crashes are negatively associated with fatalities. More importantly, in the specific context of Pakistan, morning hours, young riders, and female pillion passengers whose clothes stuck in the wheel significantly increase the fatal injury outcomes. Based on the findings, potential countermeasures to improve motorcycle safety are discussed, such as strict enforcement to control motorcyclists' risky behavior and speeding, provision of exclusive motorcycles lanes, and education of female pillion passengers. The findings from this study would increase awareness of motorcycle safety and can be used by the policymakers to enhance road safety in Pakistan, as well as in other developing countries with similar situations.

AbstractThis study compiled the number of End-of-Life motorcycles (ELMCs), utilizing Japanese official motorcycle data to clarify “the characteristics of distribution flow and main actors” of ELMCs. Based on its results, domestic ELMCs were estimated at approximately between 500,000 and 600,000 annually. The exact ELMCs number in 2019 was 521,644, 81.4% of which were exported. The ratio of exported used motorcycles among these ELMCs was analyzed and categorized according to engine discharge. Accordingly, the analysis showed that motorcycles with 50 cc and less total emissions had a high proportion, 62.8%, of the total in 2019. New insights from this study include (1) the characteristics of the used motorcycle distribution flow in Japan and that they are eventually exported and (2) the main actors in the distribution flow are used motorcycle auction sites that assume a leading role in recycling motorcycles domestically and internationally.

Abstract:
Motorcycle dominates traffic in Bali, particularly in urban roads, which occupy more than 85% of mode share. The three types of vehicles, i.e. motorcycles, heavy and light vehicles share the roadways together. Under mixed traffic conditions, motorcycle may be travelling in between and alongside two consecutive motor vehicles. Considering such a situation, passenger car equivalent values should be examined thoroughly. This study aims to determine passenger car equivalent (PCEs) of motorcycle at mid-block of Sesetan Road. Three approaches are used to examine the PCEs values. This study found that the PCE of motorcycles are in a range between 0.2 and 0.4. This values are about the same to the existing PCE of the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (1997). This study also pointed out that motorcyclists and car drivers may behave differently to the existence of motorcycles. Car drivers are more aware than motorcyclists on the existence of motorcycle on the road. Further, more samples are required to obtain comprehensive results. In addition, the presence of heavy vehicles need to be considered for future study.

Abstract:
Drivers’ behaviors to look for a parking space are affected by numerous influence factors, and there are differences between motorcycle drivers and other drivers, such as car drivers and truck drivers. In many developing countries, motorcycles dominate urban transportation, and it is essential to assess the impact of motorcycle drivers’ parking choice behavior as a solution to reduce the effect on traffic flow. This study identified the influence factors of motorcycle drivers’ parking lot choice models in a developing country, Viet Nam. Data were collected in a motorcycle dependent city, Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City, typically. A stated preference (SP) survey was designed and collected 318 answers from motorcycle drivers. Various discrete choice models under the assumption of random utility maximizations (RUM), which included the mixed logit model, multinomial logit model, and nested logit model, were employed to evaluate the influence factors on motorcycle drivers’ parking choice behavior models. The results showed that the mixed logit model fit with the data. Parking fee, walking distance, the capacity of the parking lot, and queuing time have significant effects on parking lot choice modeling. However, navigation and street sign variables showed a lesser effect on the choices of motorcycle users. This study towards parking planning solution for motorcycles and the author expects that it would be helpful to further study on the parking lot in developing countries.

Abstract:
Electric motorcycles or e-motorcycles is a clean mode of road transport that present a prominent solution toward decarbonizing cities. Despite of e-motorcycles being cleaner than gasoline ones, at the moment, there is missing information whether it is feasible to replace gasoline motorcycles with e-motorcycles used for business transport purposes. This paper, therefore, presents the results comparing energy usage when using e-motorcycles and when using the gasoline motorcycles. The energy demand for driving passengers using an e-motorcycle in the precarious routes originated from Gongo la Mboto bus stop to Segerea bus stop, Buguruni Malapa, Gerezani bus stop, Kivukoni bus stop, and Buza bus stop has been estimated. In each route, the energy has been estimated in one and four round-trips. The results reveal that the brushless direct current motor (BLDC) rated 2.5 kW is suitable for driving two passengers while consuming about 0.05 kWh/km at 50 km/h for the distance of 36 km. Increase in route length exhibit the uptrend in total energy required (Etotal). The maximum Etotal for one and four round-trips are 2.5 kWh and 10.0 kWh, respectively, for a route of 36 km length. Considering the energy demand of 2.5 kWh for one round-trip of 36 km, a battery pack of 45 Ah 60 V is found suitable to power the e-motorcycle per charge without compromising the design in terms of weight and size. Consequently, this yields to a saving of about 6.4 kWh, which is around 72 % of the energy that could be used by its gasoline counterpart. This means an e-motorcycle of this power rating could save 0.18 kWh/km, equivalent to 0.02 L/km. Moreover, e-motorcycle could cost 24.3 Tsh/km compared to 754.8 Tsh/km for its gasoline counterpart, and save around 97 % of the fuel cost. These results indicate that an e-motorcycle can outperform its gasoline counterpart. These findings play vital roles in designing energy storage systems and charging infrastructure that could offer a reliable service to end-users and assist to accelerate e-motorcycle adoption.

The questionnaires included demographic information (age, gender, skin color, education level, profession) and questions about years of licensed driving practice, how often they would drive an automobile, how long they had had a motorcycle driver’s license, how often they would ride a motorcycle, the number of prior accidents involving a car, and the number of prior accidents not involving a car. Results: of the 100 consecutive accidents studied, 91 occurred with men and 9 with women, aged between 16 and 79 (m = 29 ± 11) years. Regarding their reason for using a motorcycle, 83% reported using it for transport, 7% for work, and 10% for leisure. Most of these accident victims had secondary or higher education (47%). Of the motorcyclists who held a car driver’s license, 68.3% drove the vehicle daily or weekly and held the license for more than one year. Sixty-seven percent of the accident victims used a motorcycle daily and had a motorcycle driver’s license for at least one year. Conclusion: among the motorcyclists injured, most were men aged 20 years or older, with complete secondary education, and experienced in driving both motorcycles and cars, indicating that recklessness while driving the motorcycle is the main cause of traffic accidents.

Abstract:
Brazil is a major producer and consumer of motorcycles. In this context, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Pernambuco offers three two-wheeled courses: Studies on Bicycles and Motorcycles (45 h, graduate students), Propulsion of Bicycles and Motorcycles (45 h, graduate students), and Motorcycle Engineering (60 h, under graduate students). All of them present a greater or lesser mixture of general topics (e.g. accidents, culture, market, history) and technical ones (e.g., technology description and mathematical modeling). On those courses, the calculations are made using empirical correlations, commercial packages, and also simple methods, which, although quantitatively weaker, have both didactic and theoretical advantages, as they consider the essence of the phenomena and reveal the strongest relations between the variables. In this paper, we present an integrated engine/motorcycle simple model that permits the manipulation of parameters, such as the combustion time, heat losses, drag and inertial resistances, gear shifting and others. Those model parameters are then varied to study their influence on the motorcycle behavior. Manipulating this model, students learn that both engine and motorcycle inefficiencies have the same order of influence on motorcycle economy, ethanol is less volumetrically efficient than gasoline, the change of sprockets can increase the maximal speed while deteriorating the mean speed, and other interesting practical concepts. The success of the courses can be gauged by the students’ enrollment, by the professors’ evaluation by the students, class participation, and by the strong commitment of the students to the final projects. Other highly probable cause for the success is the motorcycle itself, always a passionate subject for young people in general, and mechanical engineers in particular.

Abstract:
Motorcycles are a highly efficient and effective means of transport. Currently, the increasing number of motorcycle products allows consumers to buy the correct motorcycle and according to their wishes, requirements, and abilities. The objective is to design and use the Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) method to choose a motorcycle product. The MAUT method has advantages, including simple calculations, leads to the ultimate value used to classify vehicles and determines the weight value of the criteria that leads to vehicle selection according to the buyer's wishes and needs. The data sources are based on the data required, namely observations and interviews with the public as motorcycle users and motorcycle dealers in the North Sumatra Region as a sample. Price, quality, design, after sales, fuel consumption and popularity are the criteria for evaluation. While Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki for motorcycles moped; sport; and matic are the alternatives used in research. The ranking results are obtained with the final value on alternative 1 = 0.8500; alternative 2 = 0.7500; and alternative 3 = 0.2250, so alternative 1 (Honda (New Vario 125 Esp CBS-ISS) is the alternative chosen as a recommendation in the selection of two-wheeled vehicles based on needs. The results of this study demonstrate that MAUT can be used as a recommendation for the public in choosing motorcycle products based on needs.

Abstract:
Motorcycle ignition which also functions as a motorcycle safety needs to be designed and made as safe as possible to avoid the loss of the vehicle from theft cases. This equipment is designed to turn on/off and search for motorcycles using a remote from a smartphone with an android operating system via a bluetooth network. The bluetooth input is controlled using the Arduino Uno microcontroller. From the test results, it is found that the maximum distance that can be achieved between Android and Bluetooth to operate a motorcycle engine is about 10 meters. This system also makes our motorcycle engine ignition a smart ignition.

Abstract:
The notification system for two-wheeled motorcycles is currently very ineffective, so that the theft of motorcycles is very high if they still use an alarm without notification to the owner of the motor vehicle. So that the motorcycle notification system using a GSM module based on a microcontroller can be an alternative to secure motorcycles from theft. The purpose of this study is to make a notification system using the GSM SIM800L module to provide notifications and use an RFID Reader to replace the contact system on a motorcycle. The test results from this study are the performance of the notification system using a GSM module based on this microcontroller can work well. When the RFID receives input from the e-KTP ID Tag and is forwarded to the microcontroller and forwarded to the SIM800L to send an SMS notification, the microcontroller will give the output to the relay to turn on the electricity on the motorcycle.

Abstract:
In 2019, the number of conventional vehicles in Indonesia reached 133,617,012 units, dominated by motorcycles of 112,771,136 units and passenger cars of 15,592,419 units. The high number of conventional motorcycle users can increase the number of pollutants and combustion emissions in the environment. This condition has encouraged the transition to a sustainable transport system that will be needed for decades to come, especially for the electric motorcycle to resolve the issue. This research aims to predict and estimate the market share of electric motorcycles by considering life cycle cost per kilometer. System dynamics simulations are developed to model the adoption-diffusion of electric motorcycles in Indonesia. This model has four main modules: an electric motorcycle module, a conventional motorcycle module, an economy module, and a consumer market module. This model shows a positive trend of EM market share from 2021-2030, with the market share value of EM is 0,411 in 2030. The development of retail price subsidy and electricity price scenarios is also carried out to determine the right policies to accelerate the adoption-diffusion process. Based on the scenario, the provision of retail price subsidy and a decrease in electricity price can increase the value of the EM Market Share.

Abstract:
Urban and rural interaction is a very important relationship, which rural functions as a supplier of natural and human resources to urban areas, while urban provides income streams, processed goods, and income to rural areas. Transportation became one of the main media as a link. The choice of transportation mode is one of the alternatives in creating an effective and efficient movement system. The motorcycle is the preferred mode of transportation because it is able to change direction very flexible compared to other modes of transportation. There is one unique phenomenon happening in Padurenan, Rahtawu and Wonosoco, Kudus Regency. The low transportation access was inversely proportional to the number of motorcycle ownership in the three villages. Thus, there needs to be a spatial pattern mapping of motorcycles ownership in three villages. This research aims to map spatial ownership of motorcycles in the three villages. It used average nearest neighbor, incremental spatial autocorrelation, hotspot analysis. The analytical tool used Arc GIS 10 as GIS (Geographic Information System) software. The result of this research showed that the distribution of the motorcycles ownership forms a cluster pattern. The highest concentration of motorcycle ownership cluster is seen in Padurenan Village, while the lowest cluster of motorcycle ownership is in Wonosoco Village.
