The common auxiliary driving system on the market is designed for the car, and this paper propose the auxiliary driving system designed for the motorcycle design. It uses the smart phone as the platform, and use Arduino microcontroller to integrate touch, ultrasonic, alcohol, Beacon and multi-sensor. An intelligent control algorithm receives the multiple sensor signals to process and provides multiple increasing safety functions to user. For example, our system can detect the safety distance among many motors through the ultrasonic, vibration motor and Beacon for keeping traffic safety. Next, it can detect driver whether he/she fell to the ground or not. If he/she fell to ground, our system can issue an emergency notification. When the driver encountered Emergency traffic, such as traffic jams, roads and motorcycle accidents, the system can instantly upload pavement information to achieve the effect of real-time traffic sharing, and the system will be found in the Beacon unique code and the user''s location uploaded to the cloud server, and record the traffic information of each section, so that users can avoid excessive traffic flow sections. And, the system will also encode the license plate number, if the user''s motorcycle stolen, through other users to search the Beacon unique code to find their own motorcycle. Finally, the system reads the Central Meteorological Bureau database and the National Health Insurance passbook, and provides immediate weather information to achieve remind of chronic diseases. From experimental results, we understand that our system can achieve a full range of locomotive auxiliary driving system.

Two novel vehicle-related systems are proposed in this thesis; that is, deep learning based-on license plate recognition system and lane departure warning (LDW) system. For the first one, it can recognize license plates not only from cars but also motorcycles. There are two special cases we cannot recognize the letters of plates. One is the system cannot identify these license plates immediately. Another is the skewed plate cause missing characters or unrecognizable in the system for motorcycle’s license plate. In order to solve these problems, we proposed the deep learning technology to identify each vehicle’s license plate, the approach can re-organize and discriminate each founded character in the license plate. In traditional method only locate the license plate and cannot recognize it belong to car or motorcycle. We use the deep learning method to identify the license plate, such as the seven-code for the car or the six-code of motorcycle and find out the optimal result of character re-arrangement according to the regulation on license plate. For the second LDW system, we use the innovative CPU+IVE hardware intelligent algorithm with accelerated engine technology by Hisilicon Semiconductor to improve the problem of low frame rate. Filter out non-lane lines by calculating the slope, the length and the position of each line to, the most appropriate left and right lane lines could be screened and selected. When one of the lane lines disappeared or continued to deviate, a warning alarm would be sounded to remind the driver.

The main objective of this thesis is to develop a driver safety assistance system for motorcycles. In Taiwan, the number of casualties of motorcycle accidents did not decrease recently. According to car accident statistics, distracting driving and tailgating caused about 30 percent of motorcycle accidents. The proposed driver safety assistance system for motorcycles is used to detect the safety distance between the owner’s vehicle and obstacle ahead, and gives the driver a warning signal if necessary. In this study, a smartphone is used as a research tool, while modern smartphones are sophisticated computing platforms with complex sensors. The phone camera can capture and record videos; the orientation sensor is used to obtain the pitch and roll angles, and GPS can help to get the precise coordinates of the motorcycles. The study can be divided into two parts. Firstly, the transformation matrices of different camera angles are calculated and stored in a transformation matrix database. The transformation matrix database is constructed automatically. All the information the system needs includes input images, pitch angles, and roll angles. The system obtains the transformation matrix by solving the simultaneous equations about the corner information detected from the input image. Secondly, a kernel system is developed, including the following stages: turn each image into a top view, detect the distance between the owner’s vehicle and obstacle, and calculate the safe distance. The system can create the top view images using a suitable transformation matrix in the database. Moreover, the system can detect the obstacles in the top view images. Then the distance between owner’s vehicle and obstacles can be calculated. At the same time, the GPS embedded in the smartphone can help to obtain the speed of the vehicles to calculate the safe distance. Finally, the system will give the driver suitable warning signal after comparing two distances. The experimental results show that the proposed real-time system is robust and efficient. Moreover, the system can work very well not only on motorcycles but also on cars.
