Abstract:
Guillaume de Machaut’s motets constitute a cycle. This study focuses upon Machaut’s six Latin texted motets and their influence upon these cyclical contexts. Former research into these motets has uncovered references to contemporary poetry, liturgical texts, literary sources, particular persons, and historical events. Through an examination of recent research into the cyclical nature of the motets it is possible to critically evaluate these hypotheses in the light of the past historical, codicological, liturgical, musical and poetic analysis of these works to create a rounded picture of each motet. In this way it was found that many of the previously researched aspects of the motets follow in line with recent theories surrounding motet grouping structures. In this way when placing these works within a mystical theological literary context their sacred nature, evident within the tenor chant fragments upon which many of them are built, becomes evident and a greater plan apparent. Beyond this, with an examination of Machaut’s life and the events which occurred in his lifetime the context for composition of the remaining motets is unearthed. Within these motets elements have now been identified which link them to Machaut’s canonries at both Saint Quentin and Reims as well as the events of the Hundred Years’ War. In this way the deep connection between Machaut’s motets and all levels of his life is becoming increasingly apparent. Through an examination of these six Latin texted motets it is found that a liturgical context is key to the analysis of all voices. This is apparent in the mere use of vocabulary idiomatic to the liturgy present within these texts. In this way the selection of words within motet 21 points to a Marian allusion and the apocalyptic, drawing motet 21 even closer in context to motets 22-23. This apocalyptic reference is also seen in specific words within in triplum text of motet 22. Furthermore, the Marian allusions discovered throughout these last three motets in their upper voices are apparent only with a close examination of the Salve Regina texts. In this way the influence and importance of liturgical context to the analysis of the motet has been extended to all voices. This study has also uncovered allusions to other fourteenth century works in the analysis of Machaut’s motets. In the case of motet 9 a connection between its chant tenor and another from the Roman de Fauvel reveals a political context which brings an added richness to the interpretation of these texts. Furthermore, as with motets 18-19, it may be gleaned that as Machaut and Vitry were both canons at Saint Quentin that perhaps it was here and with these two motets that Machaut began his tutelage with the older master of the motet. These conclusions may be drawn by the striking similarities between Machaut’s works and those believed to have originated from within the Vitry circle. In the course of this study there have been additions to evidence the necessity of looking to all aspects of Guillaume de Machaut’s motets in their analysis. This includes use of numerical symbolism in varying aspects as shown in motet 9 as well as a thorough exploration of Machaut’s use of vocabulary within his texts to find its literary, historical, motet, and liturgical allusions. The identification of these sources may either serve to reinforce or expand the context of the motet leading to a deeper understanding of its purpose within a group of motets or individually.

Abstract:
This thesis investigates early sixteenth-century motet settings of texts taken from the Song of Songs. By way of contextualization, I will explore the Christian history of Song of Songs exegesis from the third century to the twelfth. I will also consider generic properties of the renaissance motet---contemporary definitions of the genre, performance context, types of texts used, and repertory dissemination---and make a case that both the Song of Songs and the motet occupy a sort of "intermediate" position between the secular and the sacred world, participating in both the earthly and the spiritual.
Several motets---Tota pulchra es by Ludwig Senfl, Tota pulchra es by Nicolaus Craen, Nigra sum sed formosa by Johannis Lheritier, and the anonymous Vulnerasti cor meum from Petrucci's Motetti de la Corona I print---will be analyzed through the lens of the historical Christian exegesis and generic considerations of the motet. I interpret diverse musical parameters---among them, texture, quotation of pre-existent material, motivic structuring, cadential manipulation, mode and modal commixture---as some of the ways in which the composers responded to their Song of Songs texts.

Glysson, Scott Douglas. "An Analysis of Musical Style and Cecilian Idealism in the Latin-Texted Motets of Camille Saint-Saëns." Diss., The University of Arizona, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/325233.

Full text
Abstract:
The Cecilian movement was a reactionary movement made up of composers who sought to restore the musical principles of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries by placing emphasis back on the liturgy, reviving the idea that the music should be subservient to the text. In his article "The Cecilian Movement in the Nineteenth Century: A Summary of the Movement," Patrick Liebergen introduces the term "Cecilian Ideal" as a means of describing the way in which Franz Liszt and Anton Bruckner incorporated elements of Cecilianism into their compositions. Though the two composers never belonged to the Cäcilien-Verband für Deutschland, analysis of various style features commonly found in their music reveals that they accomplished many of the goals of the Cecilian movement while retaining their own individual compositional styles. Analysis of the Latin-texted choral motets of Camille Saint-Saëns reveals that they share stylistic features that were endorsed by the Cecilian movement. That these features were a result of conscious decisions made by the composer is suggested by the fact that similar style traits were praised by Saint-Saëns in two articles he wrote about liturgical music that were published near the end of his life. Moreover, Patrick Liebergen already has shown that many of the Saint-Saëns' beliefs can be understood through the application of what he terms the "Cecilian Ideal" concept. The Latin-texted choral motets of Camille Saint-Saëns have largely been overlooked by the scholarly community. Perhaps it is the uncomplicated nature of these pieces that has led many to dismiss them as an unremarkable portion of the composer's repertoire. Six of the Latin choral motets which are the most similar in terms of style and function were chosen for this study, as they best represent the consistent compositional features of the composer in this genre. These works span a fifty-eight year time period covering a broad portion of the composer's life and career. By analyzing Saint-Saëns' liturgical music in the light shed by his prose writings on the subject we can better understand both his compositional style and his view of the Cecilian movement.

Abstract:
Although Magdeburg cantor Heinrich Grimm was frequently listed among prominent musical figures of the early seventeenth century such as Heinrich Schütz, Johann Hermann Schein, and Michael Praetorius in music lexica through the nineteenth century, he has almost disappeared from modern scholarship. However, a resurgence in Grimm studies has begun in recent years, especially in the areas of biographical study and compositional output. In this study, I examine the yet unexplored music-analytic perspective by investigating the stylistic characteristics of Grimm's 1631 motet, Unser Leben wehret siebenzig Jahr'. Furthermore, I compare his compositional technique to that of his contemporaries and predecessors with the goal of examining the work from both Renaissance and Baroque perspectives.

Ren, Min. "Behavioural intentions in the motel industry : an empirical analysis." Diss., Lincoln University, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/10182/1097.

Full text
Abstract:
The New Zealand hospitality sector has become increasingly competitive in the past decade. The increase in competition has prompted motel management to focus on generating favourable customers’ perceptions of their service as favourable perceptions encourage repeat purchase. Strategically, retaining existing customers and attracting new customers will be critical if motels are going to remain profitable in New Zealand’s competitive accommodation market. There is a conceptual gap in the marketing literature as there has been very limited published research on service quality, value, customer satisfaction or behavioural intentions on the motel industry. This study seeks to fill this conceptual gap in the motel industry by identifying the dimensions of service quality, and empirically examining the interrelationships among the service quality dimensions, service quality, value, customer satisfaction, and behavioural intentions. The findings of this study are based on the analysis of a sample of 349 respondents who stayed at a full service New Zealand motel on Riccarton Road in Christchurch. Of the 600 questionnaires distributed, a total of 349 useable responses were returned resulting in a 58.2% useable response rate. Support was found for use of the primary dimensions: Interaction Quality, Physical Environment Quality, and Outcome Quality as broad dimensions of service quality in a hierarchical factor structure for motels. Ten sub-dimensions of service quality, as perceived by motel customers, were determined using focus group interviews and exploratory factor analysis. These ten sub-dimensions were: (1) Staff Professionalism, (2) Accuracy of Reservation, (3) Tangibles, (4) Cleanliness and Comfort, (5) Noise Level, (5) Parking, (7) Security, (8) Accuracy of Billing, (9) Location, and (10) Pleasant Stay. Support for the hypothesised paths between Service Quality, Value (price), Satisfaction, and Favourable Behavioural Intentions was confirmed. The results of the regression analysis make a contribution to the service marketing theory by providing an empirically based insight into the Service Quality construct in the motel industry. The study also provides a framework for understanding the effects of the three primary dimensions on Service Quality and how Service Quality affects Value (price), Satisfaction, and Favourable Behavioural Intentions. Value (price) was also empirically supported as an important predictor variable that has a moderating effect on the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction.

Anderson, Gordon Douglas. "Piedras Blancas Motel Feasibility Study and Redevelopment Alternatives." DigitalCommons@CalPoly, 2010. https://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/theses/301.

Full text
Abstract:
The Piedras Blancas Motel is a 1950’s era roadside motel comprised of 11 lodging units, plus a cafe, laundry room, manager’s apartment, and adjacent storage area. It is located seven miles north of San Simeon and nine miles south of the San Luis Obispo/Monterey County line. In 2005, the property was purchased using State, Federal, and private funds, and then transferred to the California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks). Although it has been closed to the public since 2005, the Site offers day-use parking and convenient beach access. This professional project, under contract with the California Coastal Conservancy, provides information necessary for the future redevelopment of the Piedras Blancas Motel. It demonstrates the feasibility of a preferred development alternative through several analyses including: a structural analysis of the existing building(s), a constraints analysis, an evaluation of regulatory requirements, and an assessment of redevelopment options based on preliminary market research and financial analysis. The primary objective of the Coastal Conservancy and State Parks is to provide low-cost overnight lodging and visitor services along the Big Sur Coast. The Motel would serve as an alternative to existing expensive lodges or resorts as well as existing tent or RV camping that may not serve as an option for some visitors.

Abstract:
The feeling of the meeting with the school nurse – LGBTQ-youths experiences and expectations Aim: To describe experiences of and expectations on support from school nurses by young LGBTQ people. Background: Research shows that school nurses may lack knowledge and have negative attitudes towards sexual minorities. Studies also show that students did not feel safe talking to the school nurse about sexuality. Method: Unstructured narrative interviews were conducted with 10 youths who identified themselves as LGBTQ. The interviews were analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: The study shows that youths who identify themselves as LGBTQ have had both positive and negative experiences in interactions with their school nurse. Youths who have had positive experiences with their school nurse felt that the nurse listened with respect and mediated safety. The negative experiences are due to the school nurse not being well versed in the subject of LGBTQ as well as seeming heteronormative. The expectations of the youths were to be treated equally, given the opportunity for active call support, a trustworthy relationship and a competent response from school nurses. Conclusion: A school nurse needs to be compentent and possess knowledge in LGBTQ to properly interact with LGBTQ-youths.

Mott, Jammieca D. "A Performer's Analysis of Dominick Argento's Miss Havisham's Wedding Night." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2010. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc28455/.

Full text
Abstract:
Dominick Argento's Miss Havisham's Wedding Night is the least explored of his artistic output. A monodrama in one act for soprano, Miss Havisham's Wedding Night contains some of Argento's most beautiful and challenging music of his compositional output. The purpose of a detailed analysis of the structure and content of Argento's Miss Havisham's Wedding Night is to facilitate the solo vocal performer's interpretation. Argento's setting of Miss Havisham's Wedding Night is unique in that he musically translates the manic psychological state of the literary character. Argento structured the one act opera in such a manner that the music would illuminate the text and the audience might connect with the unstable psychological episodes and outbursts demonstrated by Miss Havisham. To that end, each section and phrase has its own psychological motivation, which in turn demands a varied musical and dramatic interpretation. Utilizing selected scenes from Miss Havisham's Wedding Night, the researcher will analyze Argento's musical manifestation of Dickens's literary work. This research will include an investigation into the manner in which Argento uses the shape of melody and the musical phrase along with the harmonic materials to enhance the text and dramatic content. The author will explore the musical nuances Argento incorporates in an effort to develop and portray Miss Havisham's psychological state. Through an analysis of the orchestral writing the author will show how Argento's aesthetic balance between the music and text represents the emotional and psychological implications of the monodrama.

Abstract:
“Dance and forget your sickness” - An ethnological study of the interaction between patients and the medical conceptual world, and the role of music in a healing process. This study is based on interviews with four people. It describes their experiences with the health care system and the role of music in their lives. What these people have in common is that their illnesses are not verifiable from a normal medical perspective. The overall purpose is to describe this interaction with medical care and discuss what role music might have in the mitigation of the perceived illness. The patient-healthcare interaction is analysed from a theoretical discourse perspective. The analysis reveals some of the mechanisms in the medical establishment’s discourse that reinforce its own conclusions by simplifying what is actually quite complex; the inner world of the patient. Considering the powerful position medical science has taken in our modern world it is relevant for medicine to be able to respond to and manage health problems arising in complex personal processes, or what can be described as existential illness. This study describes how the current healthcare establishment has come to focus unilaterally on physical health, supplanting the existential dimension of health that it cannot respond to. The results of this study showed that all people experienced that (current established) healthcare alone could not cure their illness in a satisfactory manner. The study also showed that music played a major role in the relief of specific symptoms. Music also helped patients find meaning, despite their illness, as part of a greater cultural and social world.

Abstract:
v.1. Text (246 leaves) -- v.2. Figures and musical examples (145 leaves)
William Byrd's motets with Latin text are a little-known contribution to the sacred vocal repertoire. Most important among these works are three books of Cantiones Sacrae, published 1575, 1589 and 1591, respectively. The 1589 Cantiones Sacrae was Byrd's first harvest from a backlog of motets that had been accumulating since 1575. This collection lies at a midpoint between Byrd's earliest published works and his full maturity, as seen in the Masses of 1592--95.
This study will describe the contrapuntal strategies that characterize Byrd's 1589 Cantiones. I will examine Byrd's deeper-level tonal organization and its derivation from cantus firmus technique. I will show how Byrd uses musical material in cantus firmus values (the breve and semibreve) to shape his subject material and his cadence points, and how this shaping plays out over the course of an imitative point.
I will then examine Byrd's introductory gestures in the 1589 Cantiones, identifying 24 presentation types that characterize different degrees of beginning. These types contain one or more melodic subjects in a recurring temporal relationship, and form a vertical interval pattern or harmonic motive. Next, I will discuss Byrd's variation techniques by which he develops these presentation types: textural change, transposition, melodic inversion and invertible counterpoint. Byrd's presentation and variation of subject material divides an imitative point into distinct phases of tonal and contrapuntal activity, providing insight into its overall form and tonal design.
Finally, I will apply these analytical tools to a complete analysis of Tristitia et anxietas, from the 1589 Cantiones, thereby showing how Byrd establishes central pitches in the middleground. Through this analysis, I will summarize Byrd's contrapuntal strategies, both long-range and local, that typify his middle-period sacred vocal style, as viewed through the lens of the 1589 Cantiones Sacrae.

Dobby, Margaret. "Le Motet et l’Arbre de Jessé. Les pièces à deux voix sur la teneur FLOS FILIUS EJUS dans le codex W2." Thesis, Poitiers, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012POIT5015/document.

Abstract:
Thirteenth-Century motets composed on the response Stirps Jesse belong to a great exegetical, iconographical and musical tradition well-known as the « Tree of Jesse ». The response, which is possibly composed by Fulbert of Chartres (d. 1028), express the relationships between Mary and her Son. It calls to mind one of the most important Christian believes as the flesh Embodiment of God thanks to the Virgin which is one of the most important Christian dogmas. The Stirps Jesse, or more often the second part of the verse FLOS FILIUS EJUS, is rhythmically organized in order to create a textual and musical polyphony. The melody, the lengths of musical phrases and of the line of the upper part depend intimately on this quotation or tenor. Even if the tenor is of great influence on the polyphony, this study demonstrates that the textual structure of the upper part corresponds to the musical organization in the two-part motets on FLOS FILIUS EJUS in the manuscript W2. The relationships between poem and melody are built on the close connection between the structural organization of the text and of the melody thanks to the melodic patterns (colores), register and rhythms

Abstract:
This study is the first step toward a better understanding of the introduction of pervasive imitation at the end of the fifteenth century. The focus is on selected works of Loyset Compère: the ténor motet Omnium bonorum plena, two motetti missales cycles and twenty chansons. Four types of repetition have been identified in these works: imitation, free repetition, repeated modules and doubling. The main analysis is based on the statistical frequency of the different types of repetition. Percentage tables allow us to observe stylistic changes between early and late chansons and also underline some resemblances between late chansons and motetti missales. Different types of repetition tend to vary in length; imitation generally uses longer melodic lines than other types of repetition. I also studied pitch intervals of repetition used by Compère. I have noticed that unlike some composers of the time, Compère used pitch intervais other than the octave and unison, mainly the fifth and principally in his late chansons. Finally, I have constructed a System of modular classification which allowed me to identify unifying devices used by Compère in his motetti missales. The results presented in this thesis suggest that Loyset Compère was a major contributor to the evolution of pervasive imitation.

Abstract:
The presented diploma thesis deals with the preparation of perovskite single crystals by inverse thermal crystallization and subsequent study of the basic properties of these hybrid organic-inorganic materials that can be used in various optoelectronic (photodetectors, transistors, lasers, LEDs) or photovoltaic applications. Their behavior in the electric field was studied by impedance spectroscopy. Impedance and capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics (frequency dependences) were measured in the dark and in the light. From the impedance dependences for measurements at 0 V voltage in the dark, the equivalent circuit was modeled and its parameters and dielectric constant were determined. From the C-V dependence, Mott-Schottky analysis determined the parameters – "flat-band" potential U_"fb" and charge carrier density N_"C-V" , the parameter – the so-called Warburg coefficient was found, which together with the parameter N_"C-V" was used to calculate the diffusion coefficient D.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the electrodeposition of tantalum from ionic solution 1-butyl-1- methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide, ([BMP]Tf2N) at 200°C and description of related transfer and kinetic phenomena on the interface between the ionic solution and working electrode. Furthermore, the electrodeposition of tantalum layers in different ionic solutions containing tantalum salts and especially in ([BMP]Tf2N) is introduced. In the last part of the thesis, results of cyclic voltammetry, surface analysis SEM and elemental analysis EDX are discussed. MIS (metal-insulator-semiconductor) structure was determined comprising porous anodic alumina as the insulator and semiconductive TaxOy on the top of the insulator. The electric conductivity of the MIS structures was studied by using amper-volt IV and CV characteristics. The results of the cyclic voltametry, impedance spectroscopy and chronoamperometry are discussed.

Abstract:
This study analyzed representative works of John Mott and Bill Bright using Ernest Bormann's method of fantasy theme analysis. The analysis confirmed that Mott and Bright, as leaders of two organizations that encourage college students to engage in evangelism, share an identical rhetorical vision. This vision can be labeled the Great Commission and is identical in thought and content to the words of Christ found in Matthew 28. The shared rhetorical vision encourages members of the rhetorical community to acknowledge the needs of the world and seek to meet those needs by sharing the gospel message of Christ. In addition to a shared rhetorical visions, the works considered in this study also share identical fantasy types: "Fetching Good Out of Evil," and the quest. The fantasy type of the quest has received little interest in other studies. This study suggests that the type might provide rhetorical critics with a useful form for future studies. Several fantasy themes also were found to exist within each artifact. The presence of shared fantasy types and the commonalties that exist between the fantasy themes verifies the presence of the shared rhetorical vision, the Great Commission.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This master thesis deals with the vocal compositions of rudolfine composer and organist Carl Luython. In his collection Selectissimarum sacrarum cantionum ... fasciculus primus, published in 1603 by the Prague printer Georg Nigrin, there are 29 sacred motets. Despite the partial knowledge about Luython's motets in the existing musicological literature is provided, a new revised view with regard to new findings concerning the genre of the motet is required. The master thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the preserved copies of Sacrae cantiones and provides their description and the historical outline of the sources and their probable use. In the second chapter, the problems related to the function of the motet in the second half of the sixteenth century are discussed. The third chapter deals with the collection itself. Criteria for selecting the repertoire, its inner structure and content are considered, which are subsequently analyzed in more detail. The fourth chapter is composed of four case studies concerning the current problems of research. The first case is a motet O domus luminosa, the paraphrase of the Augustine text. In the second case, Luyton's relationship with the Corpus Christi brotherhood is pointed out by the motet Pange lingua. In the latter case the...

This study is focused on the analysis on the current investment locations of the motels in Taipei City, first to understand the changes and developments of the motels in the past. Then arrange the alternations of the changing data and quality of humanity for the districts of Taipei City. Furthermore to field investigate the locations, site size, interior forms, and facilities of the existing 14 motels. Finally, to field survey the site size and urban blocks of 8 motels, and to interview some professional motel managers. From the interviews to understand the industry operating characteristics, business strategy, consumer psychology, consumer motivation and reasons for choices of the districts, the results found that: 1.Because of the sex attitude being more open and consumer demands are higher than other counties, the motels in Taipei City are mainly located in commercial areas, rather than inaccessible non-urban fringe or sparsely populated open land. 2.As compared with the past , broader accommodation and bathroom space are now requiredt and potential mix-used requirement, so the acquisition of land of old commercial areas is difficult. And this results in the gathering at the commercial rezoning areas of motels in Taipei City. (Residential and industrial zoning areas are excluded.) 3.For the establishment of motels in the old commercial areas, so far the only case is to convert old commercial space to motels. But there is no instances of seeking new locations to build new motels in Taipei City. 4.“Mote” is a buzzword for young people nowadays. Motels in Taipei City are not only places for dating for urban residents, they can also be places for staff parties, family gatherings, furthermore, a place where a whole family could get together to sing or to have a birthday party. 5.Because of the rising prices of land and real estates, the ways of acquisition for land of motel industry in the future could be laying down the rental relationship to purchase land to build its own motels, or turning the rental relationship into cooperation with the landlords, which is also possible.

Abstract:
Quasiparticle interference (QPI) is a powerful technique within Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) that is used to probe the electronic bandstructure of materials. This thesis presents two examples using QPI to measure the bandstructure in materials with exotic electronic states that can be tuned via outside parameters (temperature and strain). In Part I of the thesis, we discuss the temperature dependence of Fermi Arcs in 1T’-MoTe2, and then in Part II, the strain dependent nematic state in NaFeAs. The recent discovery of Weyl semimetals has introduced a new family of materials with topologically protected electronic properties and potential applications due to their anomalous transport effects. Even more useful is a Weyl semimetal that can be turned “on” and “off,” switching between a topological and trivial state. One possible material is MoTe2, which undergoes a phase transition at 240K. This thesis consists of experiments using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Spectroscopy (STS) at different temperatures to visualize changes in the electronic bandstructure of MoTe2 across the topological phase transition. We show that a signature of topologically protected Fermi Arcs is present at low temperatures but disappears at room temperature, in the trivial phase. We include an in-depth discussion of how to account for thermal effects when comparing these two types of measurements. In Part II, we discuss strain induced nematicity in NaFeAs, an iron pnictide. Nematic fluctuations and spin correlations play an important role in the phase diagram of the iron pnictides, a family of unconventional superconductors. Illuminating the mechanism behind this symmetry breaking is key to understanding the superconducting state. Previous work has shown that nematicity in the iron pnictides responds strongly to applied strain [1, 2]. In this thesis, I present results from a new experimental technique, elasto-scanning tunneling microscopy (E-STM), which combines in situ strain and atomic resolution STM/STS. For the first time, we are able to observe the effects of strain on nematicity at the local level. We perform E-STM measurements in both the spin density wave phase and the tetragonal phase of NaFeAs and measure a distinct response in each. We successfully use strain to manipulate domain boundaries in the spin density wave state and we find the intensity of nematic fluctuations is coupled to strain in NaFeAs in the tetragonal phase.

Taiwan’s household-stay motel has been ever growing as Taiwan’s economic environment has been rapidly changed. However, most of the household-stay motel (HSM) is under constructed upon the upland basis. This has not only greatly increased in the social problem of environment protection, but also caused the safe-security of residence. Ever since the official managerial law was put into effort, the annual growth in HSM has increased up to 247 units per year in number. Now, the industry is being in an oversupplied market. Right after ECFA was signed up with Mainland China, Taiwan government set up the free travelling policy for Mainland China visitors. In the meantime, the government also promotes to develop a six new potential industry program. Among the efforts, good wealth agriculture, tourisms, and creative innovation of culture industries are potentially well associated with HSM industry. In facing of the newly economic market orientation, the demand for managerial strategy and shape decision making would challenge the HSM industry to reunite the marketing resources in economic efforts. The main purpose of this study is to apply an econometric approach to construct the dual-demand theoretical model, and to setup the empirical trans-log econometric model of the HSM industry in Taiwan, to put into efforts for estimating the empirical results through fitting with the surveyed data, to analyze the economic meanings and effort measure of managerial strategy and economic performance of the industrial, to evaluate the market structure, conduct and performance of the industrial, and finally to make suggestions in economic strategy suitable for the industry’s development in future, as well as to make the suggestion for the official authority in need for policy amendment.

Electrochemical growth of aluminum oxide is a self-limiting process, protecting the inner metal with a current-blocking barrier layer. Yet, the as-grown barrier layer is loaded with defects which permit a non-zero current at the end of oxidation. Thermal annealing and acid etching can be applied to diminish or raise the defects density of barrier layer which can be measured with Mott-Schottky analysis. In this study, we employ annealing and etching of the pre-anodized barrier layer to affect the initial growth of subsequent plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO). The results indicate that 400 C annealing reduces the acceptor density from 1.71018 to 1.61016 cm-3, and the donor density from 8.61017 to 4.51016 cm-3. Etching for 15 min, the 400 C annealed sample, raises the acceptor density to 1.21019 cm-3 and the donor density to 1.71019 cm-3. The polarization resistance of the annealed barrier layer increases with increasing temperature, 1.8108 (wihout annealing) to 6.5108  cm2 (400 C annealing). The next PEO treatment further raises polarization resistance of the 400 C sample 2.3109  cm2, in contrast to 1.1109  cm2 of the sample without annealing. Anealing generally raises the initial voltage profile of constant current PEO. However, voltage of the annealed and etched sample lags behind initially, then exceeds that of the annealed sample without etching.

The static and non-equilibrium dynamic properties of a single linear chain confined in a cylindrical tube are studied by Monte Carlo simulations using a continuous model and by scaling calculations. Chain lengths from N = 30 to 150 are considered. For the static results, our simulation data are consistent with the scaling law proposed by de Gennes. That is, for thin tube, the length of tube occupied by the chain scales as where D is the diameter of the tube. The non-equilibrium relaxation behavior of the chain, after the constraint is removed, is also studied. The relaxation time τ// is derived by scaling analysis as . These results are compared with our Monte Carlo data and are discussed in the light of scaling theories.
