Abstract:
We describe a case of Pseudomonas mosselii prosthetic valve endocarditis that was successfully treated with antibiotic therapy in the absence of valve replacement. P. mosselii is a highly unusual cause of endocarditis and there are few case reports of curative treatment of pseudomonal prosthetic valve endocarditis with antibiotics alone.

Abstract:
There is some debate about the potential survival of Pseudomonas fluorescens at temperatures above 37 °C and its consequences for infectious potential, owing to the heterogeneity of clinical strains. Seven clinical strains growing at 37 °C or more were submitted for polyphasic identification; 2 were identified as Pseudomonas mosselii and 4 were precisely characterized as P. fluorescens bv. I or II. The binding indexes on glial cells of the strains identified as P. fluorescens bv. I and P. mosselii were compared with that of a reference psychrotrophic strain, P. fluorescens MF37 (bv. V). Clinical P. fluorescens had a similar adherence potential range than strain MF37. Conversely, the binding indexes for P. mosselii strains were 3 times greater than that for strain MF37. These data, and those obtained by comparing the cytotoxic activities of P. fluorescens clinical strains, suggest the existence of different virulence mechanisms, leading either to a low infectious form or to a microorganism with cytotoxic activity in the same range as that of P. mosselii or even Pseudomonas aeruginosa .

Abstract:
Agrobacterium tumefaciens is a gram negative bacterial that can infect a range of plants and result in root crown gall. A total number of 10328 bacterial strains were isolated from rhizosphere of cherry tree. One strain of LWB10 showed clear inhibition zone around the bacterial colony in YEB media inoculated with A. tumefaciens C58. Morphological, physiological, and biochemical characterization indicated that LWB10 belongs to member of the genus Pseudomonas. Results from the high-throughput matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization biotypersmart system indicated that this strain had a score value of 2.247 relative to Pseudomonas mosselii. Also, phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain LWB10 shared the highest similarity with Pseudomonas mosselii CIP 105259T. The antagonist strains also exhibit well in growth inhibition of other five A. tumefaciens strains. Coinoculation of LWB10 and plant pathogenic strain of A. tumefaciens CFCC1369 showed strongly inhibition of tumor formation in tomato stems. All the results demonstrated that the isolated strain is P. mosselii LWB10 and its antibacterial ability to A. tumefaciens may offer new way for management of crown gall disease in the future. Abstract:
The Mos1-mediated Single-Copy Insertion (MosSCI) method is widely used to establish stable Caenorhabditis elegans transgenic strains. Cloning MosSCI targeting plasmids can be cumbersome because it requires assembling multiple genetic elements including a promoter, a 3′UTR and gene fragments. Recently, Schwartz and Jorgensen developed the SapTrap method for the one-step assembly of plasmids containing components of the CRISPR/Cas9 system for C. elegans. Here, we report on the adaptation of the SapTrap method for the efficient and modular assembly of a promoter, 3′UTR and either 2 or 3 gene fragments in a MosSCI targeting vector in a single reaction. We generated a toolkit that includes several fluorescent tags, components of the ePDZ/LOV optogenetic system and regulatory elements that control gene expression in the C. elegans germline. As a proof of principle, we generated a collection of strains that fluorescently label the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria in the hermaphrodite germline and that enable the light-stimulated recruitment of mitochondria to centrosomes in the one-cell worm embryo. The method described here offers a flexible and efficient method for assembly of custom MosSCI targeting vectors.

Abstract:
The use of geotechnologies in projects and activities becomes increasingly necessary in view of the requirements of the environmental field for more satisfactory results and clearer, and less costly in terms of finance and time. Geotechnologies through GIS is a tool that presents the possibility of analysis and management of degraded areas. The results were based upon the information set forth in the project “Live Edge” and the use of Arcgis 10.2.2 software for data entry and analysis and generation of information. Identified 56 areas for recovery, and the classes of land cover and land use: farming, building, exposed soil, vegetation and wetland. Presented the possibility of entering alphanumeric information for each area by the attribute table. This work aimed to present the applicability of using a geographic information system (GIS) in the management of reclamation in the study stretch of the River Apodi-Mossley in the town of Mossley / RN environment.

Abstract:
This study examines uncontested human remains from a staff- and institutional perspective in Scandinavia. Focusing on Sweden and Denmark, this study aims to understand more of the practice and approach concerning the Egyptian mummy, Bog bodies and Relics. Today, human remains are debated and treated in different ways depending on different ethical issues concerning the category. Here, we can talk about contested and uncontested human remains. Contested human remains is, for example, ancestral remains belonging to indigenous groups or remains of a more modern date that are deemed for have been inappropriately handled historically. The uncontested human remains however, are remains that do not fit in given examples above and that have not been seen as problematic as the contested human remains. With that said, the uncontested human remains are more prone to be covered, moved around or discussed, but in the end of the day they are still there in the exhibition or in the collection and not removed. This study is based on Tiffany Jenkins (2011) definition about the contested and uncontested and Berit Sellevold’s (2013) figure of ethical aspects in which groups of people and researchers view certain remains. Arisen from these theories and the earlier research of human remains this study attempts to examine the practice and the approach about uncontested human remains. The result of the nine case studies in this thesis shows that the Egyptian mummy, Bog bodies and Relics are used and being used for bringing human beings closer the human remains as the individuals they are and for telling stories of the past. In a concrete way of understanding this, it is the staff of the institution that makes this use and approach possible neither if it’s connecting humans to the individual, the history or the religious sphere. Two main results from this study are that the appearance and context are highly affecting whether the institution, mainly the museum, chooses to exhibit uncontested human remains or not. This is a two years master’s thesis in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies.

Abstract:
This paper examines peat that was discovered next to a skeleton dug out in wetlands next to lake Bokaren in Uppland, Sweden, in 2015. The skeleton was that of a man from the Roman Iron Age. It was found in fen peat, where soft tissue decomposes but bones are often well preserved. The elemental composition of the peat was examined using X-ray fluorescence. It was found that the composition of heavy elements was likely a result from exchange between the body and the peat. There were also trace elements, some of which may originate from medicine or other use. There may also be traces of brass. X-ray diffraction however revealed no trace of mineral formation. The lipid content of the peat was examined using Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry. Fatty acids, cholesterol and degradation products expected from a waterlogged, anaerobic environment where discovered. Dark-colored peat surrounding body was found to contain lipids from the body and lipids from the inside of the skull where particularly well preserved. Theoretically, both lipid analysis and XRF could be used to locate bodies in fen peat by sampling. From the lipid analysis, one may draw the conclusion that it was a primary burial and that the body was put in a wet context short time after death. Efforts may have been taken to prevent the body from floating to the surface. The head of the body probably came off during decomposition with soft tissue remaining.

Abstract:

Thesis, Paris 5, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA05H015.

Full text
Abstract:
This research means to question the discursive validity of ethnic identity that is promoted in Burkinabe sociopolitical discourses, with sociolinguistic, discourse analysis and anthropological methods. I realized for this purpose an ethnographic investigation within two families, one presented as Bisa, the other as Mossi. It shows how speaking subjects rebuild and renegotiate their identity in the interaction, which allows me to question this notion of identity and study multiple identification processes instead. Considering the way these fluctuating identifications appear in the discourse according to interactional strategies, power issues, and historicity of solicited discourses, displays that theses constructions emerge in the fluctuation of discursive boundaries, the renegotiation of discursive categories, and the reconstruction of subjective positioning. This leads me to a redefinition of methodological and epistemological conditions of the analysis of discourses that create boundaries, as long as they enable the emergence of permanent fluctuation in social and subjective positioning

Abstract:
The migration of the mossi from burkina-faso to the ivory-coast which began in the colonial period with the recruitment for various construction jobs continues today despite the abolition of forced labor. Their profusion in the last few years is of great importance and has brought us to study the factors that bring so many young people to leave their villages and go to the ivory coast. Our research is based on readings various documentation and personal interviews with migrants as well as with economic officials. It became obvious that the actual causes of migration are due to a set of factors. On the one hand, burkina faso, a poor country with-out natural resources, never benefited from an internal structure capable of creating work. To this one must add the lack of rain in a country where the principal source of income in farming and breeding. On the other hand, the ivory coast, with a favorable climate and rich soil, benefited from important investments, making it prosperous. Despite efforts by different officials in burkina faso to create new agricultural and pastoral zones to stem the flow of migration, the goal was never achieved. Powerless in face of massive departures of the youth

Abstract:
Bâbenda is a traditional ‘lean season dish’ of the Mossi ethnic group, mainly in the Plateau-Central region of Burkina Faso where the capital Ouagadougou is located. This dish is currently undergoing a popular ‘modernization’, in the words of bâbenda eaters. This chapter aims to shed further light on this urban modernization trend, clarify what it refers to in terms of practices and social perceptions, and how it reshapes food satisfaction functions.

Abstract:
Abstract MoSi2 provides good high temperature oxidation and corrosion resistance. However, the lower silicides such as MosSis do not provide such resistance. In this study, atmosphereic plasma sprayed (APS) MoSi2 particle temperatures and velocities were measured under various torch conditions chosen to span the majority of typically utilized spray parameters. Empirical models of particle temperature and velocity were computed from the data. Three spray conditions were chosen to produce high, medium and low particle temperatures and velocities. Coatings produced under these spray conditions were characterized by profile tracing, quantitative x-ray diffraction, and SEM analysis. The Mo5Si3 level in the coatings ranged from 5% to 8% while the Mo5Si3 level in the starting powder was 0.6%. Particle size, particle trajectory, and torch parameters were found to be important factors in the Si loss process when APS depositing MoSi2.
