Abstract:
Summary. Three Lotus uliginosus populations, cv. Maku, Sharnae and the line G4704 were compared to Trifolium repens cv. Haifa on the basis of plant frequency and contribution to total above ground biomass production at 6 sites in eastern Australia (Samford, Grafton, Taree, Nowra, Moss Vale and Warragul). In addition, L. uliginosus G4703 was sown at Nowra and L. corniculatus (L.) cv. Grasslands Goldie was sown at Taree. At each site populations were sown with a grass; Setaria sphacelata cv. Narok at Samford, Grafton and Taree; Lolium perenne cv. Kangaroo Valley at Nowra and Moss Vale and cv. Ellett at Warragul. Grasslands Maku and the sown grasses were also sown alone at each site. Each of the pasture treatments was sown either with 500 kg/ha single superphosphate or without superphosphate (or with small amounts of P, if available soil Bray P The main findings were that: (i) superphosphate had little effect on lotus frequency and biomass after the first few harvests; (ii) Haifa white clover was the most successful legume in terms of plant frequency and contribution to total biomass at the subtropical sites (Taree, Grafton and Samford); (iii) Haifa was the most successful legume in the establishment year at the temperate sites, but lotus became dominant in subsequent years; (iv) Grasslands Maku was the superior greater lotus population in terms of frequency and contribution to total biomass production at all sites; and (v) at Taree, the one site where L. corniculatus cv. Grasslands Goldie was included, it was the superior population.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: This qualitative approach research aimed to investigate how teachers of Early Childhood Education evidenced, in their daily planning, teaching practices that made possible the Children's Protagonism of children who are 4 to 5 years old. For a better understanding of the concept of “Children’s Protagonism”, a bibliographical review was carried out in which the ideas of authors such as Silva (2011), Costa (2007), Moss (2009), Malaguzzi (1999), Edwards, Gandini and Forman (1999) were highlighted to ponder on the educational practices developed in a public school of a town in the Taquari Valley in Rio Grande do Sul. It was possible to verify, through this study, that the pedagogical proposal of the investigated school emphasizes children's protagonism, since the projects that guide the teachers’ emergent planning arise from different manifestations expressed by children through playful situations. The flexible planning of teachers is due to the pedagogical documentation they carry out daily, permeated by sensitive listening. And the teaching strategy used by teachers as stimulators of the Child Protagonism is the organization of pedagogical spaces within the classrooms. Keywords: Early childhood education; Children protagonism; Emerging planning; Teaching strategies.

Abstract:
AimsTo review the various available clinical models of care delivery for patients with persistent delusional disorder (PDD) in community and economically evaluate the REACT model of safe care delivery- REACT’s Assertive and Prudent- Model of Safe Care (RAP–MoSC).MethodsREACT (Response Enhanced Assessment Crisis and Home Treatment Team) is the only bespoke crisis and home treatment team for older adults with mental health problems in the whole of Wales available only for the residents of Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan through Cardiff and Vale University Health Board..It was set up on 28 February 2012. The cases of PDD in REACT service since its inception to 31 Dec 2016 were studied in relation to the assertive and prudent health care model. The economic evaluation of this service model for PDD patients was studied in detail. Results of the studyThe RAP-MoSC model is economically effective in avoiding patients getting admitted to hospital under Mental Health Act by managing them safely in the community.During the period between 28 February 2012 and 31 December 2016 there were 44 patients with a diagnosis of PDD in REACT’s case load. Only 3 patients got admitted to mental health assessment ward with the average length of stay period of 120 days. 41 patients were safely managed in the community with REACT with an average length of stay period of 21 days in REACT. A PDD patient will cost NHS £21,000 if admitted to a mental health bed. If the patient is managed in the community with RAP-MoSC model of care the cost will be £1533. REACT saved £793,548 by avoiding 41 PDD patients being admitted into hospital during an episode of delusional intensification in the period February 2012 to December 2016. PDD patients need under the RAP-MoSC model a bespoke MDT approach with better communication between secondary mental health and primary care services. Assertive and Prudent Clinical leadership is needed to sustain the RAP-MoSC in the community. Clinical reflections of this model of care will be presented in the conference.ConclusionsOn reflection REACT found that the key points in working with PDD are; Using a ‘foot in the door approach’Mental health professionals introducing themselves as Health professionalsRemote prescribing

Abstract:
An estimation of most probable producing ability (MPPA) value based on the calves performance is very important for the cow selection. The birth data record of 48 Sumba Ongole (SO) cows and record data from 52 callf birth’s performance were used to estimate the value of MPPA. High of r value (r > 0.30) was obtained at the body length (BL). Birth weight (BW), withers high (WH) and chest girth (CG) had a moderate value (0.10 < r < 0.30) of repeatability. The MPPA value of the cumulative calf birth’s performance of cows based on the highest birth records was 4.64 (cow number 3770) and the lowest was -4.64 (cow number 2283). Calf number B2076 (cow number 3586) had the highest ratio of WH (115.70); BL (124.26); CG (118.90), while the highest ratio of BW (168.35) was obtained in calf number B2095 (cow number 3731). It was concluded that the BW of birth had a moderate value of r (0.10) and could be used as a selection criteria accurately.

Abstract:
AbstractThe New Testament authors, in contemplating the mystery present in the person of Jesus, use the images belonging to the Old Testament literature, which are, in general, loaded with theological connotations. Possibly, this also applies to the shroud that was on Jesus’ head. Mentioned only in John 20:7, the shroud may perhaps have understood from the veil that was on the face of Moses, textile piece three times mentioned in Ex 34:33-35. The study presented here proposes to investigate such parallelism, which is little valued in the Commentaries on the Gospel according to John, published in Portuguese language. Moreover, however a parallelism already has been investigated by others, new details and new understandings often emerge when one looks again for the meaning of the text. Keywords: Veil, shroud, Moses, Jesus.

Abdi, Joseph. "Moms på elektroniska tjänster." Thesis, Internationella Handelshögskolan, Högskolan i Jönköping, IHH, Rättsvetenskap, 2011. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hj:diva-15114.

Full text
Abstract:
In 2002 the member states of EU took a decision regarding whether to introduce a special tax base on digital supplies or not. This tax base was later on implemented to the member states domestic laws. Question may sometimes arise as to where or by whom VAT should be paid regarding electronically supplies. The administrative court and the Swedish government have made different judgments regarding two Swedish companies whose services already have been subject to VAT in other member states. While the administrative court sentenced company A to pay VAT the government exempted company B. This bachelor thesis will examine how tax claims regarding the same electronically supply can occur in different member states and if the providers are selling to or from a permanent establishment or if they are to be considered as distributors. The answer to the first question can partly be due to the difference between Swedish law and EU-law regarding the different use of word for designating a taxable person. The words used for designating a taxable person have different meanings which can constitute confusion. It can furthermore be due to the vague and broad definition for the term electronically supplies and the differences that occur, regarding what can be covered by the definition of electronically supplies. Providers of digital supplies shall pay VAT in the country where the buyer has his place of business or where the fixed establishment is located to which the supplies are provided. Regarding revenue or acquisition it is the one who acts like the real seller or the customer who acquires and consumes the provided service who determines where the supply is situated. The main elements for the services provided have to be examined. Providers of digital supplies are not to be regarded as distributors because they do not meet the criteria’s that are set out for the term.

Abstract:
The purpose of this investigation was to analyze interns’ perceptions of what supervisors considered important supervisory behaviors and to compare those perceptions with what the supervisors considered important. Participants consisted of 33 interns and 23 supervisors. Results of two surveys collected in previous studies were compared and analyzed. Tihen’s (1983) “Tihen’s Student Expectations of their Clinical Supervisor(s) Scale” was used for the intern group. A modified version of the same scale was used for the supervisor group. The scale rated five domains: passive, evaluative, active, cooperative, and affective. Results revealed that interns ranked perceptions of what supervisors considered important supervisory behaviors as less important than what supervisors rated them. Supervisors rated all domains significantly higher than interns. Both groups considered the active domain to be the most important category and the passive domain to be the least important. Groups differed in their rankings for the affective, evaluative, and cooperative domains.

People play a major role in the marketing of services, due to the fact services are intangible, and customers look for ways to determine the quality of services. Since services differ from physical goods, service providers need to understand how they affect their organizations. Furthermore, the criterion for satisfaction is different and the customer participates in the process, hence the interest to study this more thoroughly.

Abstract:
Background: In the recent years, the focus of research has shifted to Quality of Experience(QoE) to maintain the user satisfaction levels and fulfill their expectations of the serviceoffered. Numerous work has been established in finding the relationship between the networklayer and QoE. But, it is fact that the transport layer is much closer to the end-user than thenetwork layer in the TCP/IP communication protocol suite. Thus, any changes in the degreeof satisfaction or degree of annoyance are directly reflected onto transport layer than on thenetwork layer. So, it becomes more significant to study the behavior of user satisfaction inrelation to transport layer than the network layer. Objectives: This research is to relate the behavior of TCP to QoE. The main considerations tobridge the gap between them are: (a) Analyzing the effects of using different versions of TCPon server and client side, (b) Monitoring and analyzing the intensity of TCP traffic in thereverse direction and (c) Investigating TCP control flags from client to server. Methods: QoE related parameters used in this research are: (a) Quality of video i.e., MOS, (b)Degree of disturbance caused by initial delay, (c) Degree of disturbance caused by jerkinessand (d) Degree of disturbance caused by freezes. Effects of network impairments like delay, jitter and packet loss are considered in this research. NetEm is used as the traffic emulationsoftware to shape the traffic. The packet capture analysis of traffic exchange is implementedusing tcpdump. Results and Conclusions: The aim of this research is to provide a passive-estimation methodto assess the user perceived performance. The results of this research provide valuablecontribution to service providers/operators to note the early warning signals from TCP reversetraffic to evaluate the decrease of user satisfaction level and try to cope or/and recover fromimpairments in the network. This research also provides a scope for future researchers toinvestigate other protocols both in transport and application layers.

Abstract:
This study examines the supposedly pejorative nature of the Germanic derived suffix -ard in French medieval words and their contemporary counterparts. The author looks at the words used in medieval writings available in the online database Frantext Moyen Français, which features texts dating from the year 1330 to 1502. The study reveals that while a large portion of the words ending in -ard in this database can be considered pejorative, a group of words does not carry this connotation, such as words referring to colours or objects. Some words were pejorative in Old French but have lost this connotation over time, while others have disappeared only to reappear centuries later with new meanings. The study also shows that -ard was used to form many types of words – nouns, verbs and adjectives – which take their derivation from several different languages (e.g. Latin, Dutch, Spanish etc.). Sometimes it also seems to appear without any obvious reason, for example when it replaces an already existing suffix. Because of the changeable nature of language, words carrying the ending -ard must be examined in the context in which they occur in order to be properly understood.

Disertacijoje nagrin jama koduoto balso kokybės vertinimo problematika. Pagrindinis dėmesys skiriamas balso kokybės tyrimams, kai perduodama koduota šneka ir prarandami balso paketai. Darbo tikslas yra patobulinti koduoto balso kokybės vertinimo algoritmus. Darbo uždaviniai yra šie: • sukurti matavimo priemonę trumpų balso signalo atkarpų kokybei vertinti; • apibrėžti koduoto balso segmentų vertės sampratą ir parinkti vertės metrikas; • išmatuoti bendrinės šnekos balso segmentų verčių skirstinius; • nustatyti skirtingų koderių sukuriamų iškraipymų ribas; • ištirti paplitusių koderių inertiškumą, nustatyti kiek laiko pastebima prarastų paketų įtaka sekantiems segmentams. Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality) algoritmo taikymo ribas. Čia įvedama koduoto balso paketo vertės sąvoka, nustatomi statistiniai paketų vertės skirstiniai. Trečiame skyriuje nagrinėjami specifiniai koduotos šnekos iškraipymai ir kodavimo parametrų įtaka... [toliau žr. visą tekstą]

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter tells the story of how the Election Commission of India (ECI) became one of the most awe-inspiring electoral regulatory bodies in the world. One of the most widely celebrated and trusted public institutions in India, it has ensured the integrity—free and fair—of 17 national and more than 370 state elections since 1947, in what is not only the most populous but also one of the most potentially fractious democracies in the world. Ever under pressure from the executive branch and governing parties to bow to demands fed by their desire for electoral windfalls, the ECI managed to strengthen its autonomy through assertive leadership by a series of Chief Electoral Commissioners following the decline of the Congress Party’s political dominance. The rise of the Hindu Nationalist BJP as the new dominant force in Indian politics provides a crucial test for the endurance of the ECI’s role as India’s guardian of electoral integrity.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper focuses on Inservice Testing (IST) software, in particular software developed by Kalsi Engineering, Inc. (KEI), to assist plant personnel in implementing IST requirements. The requirements in Mandatory Appendices II, III, and IV to ASME’s Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants (OM Code) for check-valve condition monitoring, motor-operated valve (MOV) inservice testing, and air-operated valve (AOV) inservice testing, respectively, are identified. Each requirement in Appendix II is mapped to specific functionality in the condition-monitoring software. In addition, methods used in the design-analysis software for design-basis verification, trending of diagnostic test data, and functional margin determination to satisfy the requirements in Appendices III and IV are also described and mapped to specific requirements. Conditioning-monitoring management database software is designed to comprehensively meet the documentation and trending requirements of Appendix II. The software addresses all program aspects, including valve grouping, program analysis, development of optimization and performance-improvement activities, evaluation of test and inspection intervals, trending and feedback, and corrective maintenance. To achieve this functionality, the condition-monitoring software includes check-valve design information, condition-monitoring activity setup and test history, trending of test parameters, a repository for miscellaneous data, and documentation of expert panel reviews. Database query tools and hard-copy reports are also provided. The benefit is that this software provides a standardized, central collection point from which plant engineers can effectively manage their Appendix II program without having to develop and maintain a multitude of non-standardized personal spreadsheets or databases. In addition, the software assists in succession planning and minimizes the transition time for new check-valve program owners. The MOV and AOV design-analysis software determines initial design margin and then uses field test data and associated uncertainties to determine actual setup functional margin. In addition, trending of diagnostic in-service test data is performed to verify that design values are conservative and that the inservice test intervals are appropriate based on projected degradation rate. The benefit of this software is that it assists utility engineers in satisfying the design-basis verification, preservice, and inservice testing requirements in Appendices III and IV in a standardized and comprehensive platform. Asante, Kofi Takyi. Political Economy of the Oil Palm Value Chain in Ghana. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), March 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/apra.2021.008.

Full text
Abstract:
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is of strategic importance to the Ghanaian economy. It is the second most important industrial crop after cocoa and is used widely in local food preparation as well as in industrial processing. In spite of its importance, however, oil palm has consistently underperformed since the early twentieth century. This paper conducts a value chain analysis of the crop, foregrounding the political economy factors that shape the performance of the sector. It draws on a combination of in-depth interviews conducted in March 2020 with a variety of value chain actors and a review of the secondary literature. Additionally, between late May and early June 2020, twelve further interviews were conducted as part of a rapid market survey to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the value chain.

Economic Valuation of the Ecosystem Services of the Mesoamerican Reef, and the Allocation and Distribution of these Values. Inter-American Development Bank, May 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0003289.

Full text
Abstract:
Coral reefs are one of the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. The Mesoamerican Reef contains the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. However, its health is threatened, so there is a need for a management and sustainable conservation. Key to this is knowing the economic value of the ecosystem. “Mainstreaming the value of natural capital into policy decision-making is vital” The value of environmental and natural resources reflects what society is willing to pay for a good or service or to conserve natural resources. Conventional economic approaches tended to view value only in terms of the willingness to pay for raw materials and physical products generated for human production and consumption (e.g. fish, mining materials, pharmaceutical products, etc.). As recognition of the potential negative impacts of human activity on the environment became more widespread, economists began to understand that people might also be willing to pay for other reasons beyond the own current use of the service (e.g. to protect coral reefs from degradation or to know that coral reefs will remain intact in the future). As a result of this debate, Total Economic Value (TEV) became the most widely used and commonly accepted framework for classifying economic benefits of ecosystems and for trying to integrate them into decision-making. This report estimates the economic value of the following goods and services provided by the MAR's coral reefs: Tourism & Recreation, Fisheries, Shoreline protection. To our knowledge, the inclusion of non-use values in the economic valuation of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System is novel, which makes the study more comprehensive.

Full text
Abstract:
The BeefLedger Export Smart Contracts project is a collaborative research study between BeefLedger Ltd and QUT co-funded by the Food Agility CRC. This project exists to deliver economic value to those involved in the production, export and consumption of Australian beef to China through: (1) reduced information asymmetry; (2) streamlined compliance processes, and; (3) developing and accessing new data-driven value drivers, through the deployment of decentralised ledger technologies and associated governance systems. This report presents early insights from a survey deployed to Chinese consumers in Nov/Dec 2019 exploring attitudes and preferences about blockchain-credentialed beef exports to China. Our results show that most local and foreign consumers were willing to pay more than the reference price for a BeefLedger branded Australian cut and packed Sirloin steak at the same weight. Although considered superior over Chinese processed Australian beef products, the Chinese market were sceptical that the beef they buy was really from Australia, expressing low trust in Australian label and traceability information. Despite lower trust, most survey respondents were willing to pay more for traceability supported Australian beef, potentially because including this information provided an additional sense of safety. Therefore, traceability information should be provided to consumers, as it can add a competitive advantage over products without traceability.

Abstract:
Children work throughout the Lake Volta fisheries value chain. It is commonly assumed most have been trafficked. Research and advocacy has focused on dangers to young boys harvesting fish, and poverty as a driver, precluding attention to harms experienced by non-trafficked children, girls’ experiences and work-education dynamics. More work is needed on the proportions of children who fish and perform harmful work; structural, ecological and historical contexts; young people’s agency in pursuing fishing work; and why attention to trafficking dominates.

Abstract:
We built three successive versions of a thermal decomposition cavity ring-down spectrometer and tested their response to explosives. These explosive compound analyzers successfully detected nitroglycerine, 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), pentaerythryl tetranitrate, hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-s-triazine and triacetone triperoxide (TATP). We determined the pathlength and limits of detection for each, with the best limit of detection being 13 parts per trillion (ppt) of TNT. For most of the explosive tests, the peak height was higher than the expected value, meaning that peroxy radical chain propagation was occurring with each of the explosives and not just the peroxide TATP.
