Abstract:
For this issue, Victorians Live takes a global perspective on the afterlife of the Victorians. Using a fine nineteenth-century phrase, Margaret Harris writes of “Victorian Vestiges” in Australia. Carole Silver describes the mix of concealment and display in South Africa's dealing with its Victorian heritage. My essay on a recent American exhibition of the work of Morris & Co. shows the influence of this representative Victorian in California, as filtered through the collection of Henry Huntington for his Library in southern California and with additions for this show by contemporary California collectors. That Morris continues to live into our time is vividly shown in the venues of his global exhibitions, in Australia in a converted nineteenth-century powerhouse, at Yale in the modernist masterpiece of the twentieth-century architect, Louis Kahn.

The primary resource is one of his books, ‘How Should We Then Live?’ and also several books about Schaeffer from various other authors: (1) Francis Schaeffer’s Apologetics: A Critique by Thomas Morris, (2) Reflection on Francis Schaeffer, edited by Ronald W. Ruegsegger, and (3) Francis Schaeffer: The Man and His Message, written by Louis Gifford Parkhurst, Jr. In his method of apologetical verification, he used of elements of common ground as a point of contact with unbelievers. Unlike the inductive approach, he majors on inner, existential values as well as outer empirical data. In contrast with the pre-suppositional approach, Schaeffer’s method discovers and appeals to factual and personal data in confirmation of his hypothesis.</p><p><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA <strong>ABSTRAK</strong>:</strong> Tulisan ini mencoba untuk mendiskusikan kehidupan dan pemikiran Francis Schaeffer, terutama pada bidang apologetik. Abstract:

Abstract:
In May 1969, Charles Harrison reviewed Morris Louis’ exhibition at the Waddington Galleries in London. Months later, he helped to install the exhibition When Attitudes Become Form at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Harrison also wrote the catalogue text, published in Studio International. Those two texts marked a significant point in Harrison’s career. They were indicative of his disillusionment with modernist criticism, and of his burgeoning interest in the work of post-minimal and conceptual art. In this respect, the two essays mark a transition from modernism to post-modernism in the space between a formalist analysis of the art object and a more dispersed field of artistic practice, where a changed relationship between art practice, criticism, and curating was taking place. However, in the 2000s, Harrison came to reflect upon this cardinal moment. Harrison referred to his recollected experiences of the late 1960s as a ‘cherished moment of involuntary realism’, opening up issues around art writing which remain pertinent to the practice of art history.

Did Leibniz invent or, if you prefer, discover topology with his analysis situs? Yes, urge Nicholas Rescher (1978, p. 70), George MacDonald Ross (1984, p. 29) and Ian Hacking (1984, p. 213). No, urge Hans Freudenthal (1954/1972), Benson Mates (1986, p. 240) and Michael Otte (1989, p. 24). James Alexander (1932/1967, p. 249), drawing a distinction between point set and combinatorial methods, cautiously remarked that combinatorial topology “is more nearly a development of Leibniz's original idea.” Less cautiously, Morris Kline (1972, p. 1163) remarked that “to the extent that he was at all clear, Leibniz envisioned what we now call combinatorial topology.” Louis Couturat (1961, p. 429), Rudolf Carnap (1922, p. 81) and Ernst Cassirer (1950, p. 49) proposed projective geometry as the realization of Leibniz's project. Dennis Martin (1983, p. 5) sees topology as a development from analysis situs. Javier Echeverria (1988, p. 218), reporting on his archival research, argues that Leibniz “successfully introduced very general geometrical notions that boil down to what is known today as topology.” And a good many others, for and against, might be cited.

Abstract:
Against the background of contemporary artists’ interest in the cultural heritage of past ages, today we can observe an experimental combination of works by Lully, Rameau, baroque music of Henry Purcell, who was Moli&#232;re’s contemporary, with elements of modern choreography (P. Bausch, T. Brown, M. Morris, L. Scozzi, D. Hervieu, B. Massin and others). Such productions by leading choreographers of the XX–XXI centuries actualize a certain reassessment of the artistic consequences of the “Sun King” era. Present scientific research purpose is to refute the theory of “temporality” of the existence of the com&#233;die-ballet genre as well as the lack of prospects for using the principles of this genre outside the cultural boundaries of the Louis XIV age. After all, even such a well-known modern expert of this historical epoch as Philippe Beaussant is skeptical about the possibility of further successful development of this genre. Probably because apart from Moliere, none of the modern authors at the court of Louis XIV had either a certain flair or relevant experience (Beaussant, 2002: 148). Present scientific paper relevance lies in the fact that in Ukrainianlanguage scientific literature the issue of the significance of com&#233;diesballets in the evolution of the world dramatic and choreographic arts is considered from the modern point of view for the first time. Along with the methods of analysis, comparison, generalization and systematization of information presented in the world scientific literature on Moliere’s work, historical and biographical approaches were used in the research process. The results of the research confirm the thesis of the leading theater critics of the Soviet era, O. Gvozdev (2008: 180), that the opera and dance elements of ‘ballet de cour’ are noticeably transformed in Moli&#232;re’s com&#233;dies-ballets, and, what’s most important, they are dramatized under the influence of comedy story-line. It is summarized that “Les F&#226;cheux” continues the line of development of French ‘ballet de cour’, but the combination of its components in the artistic integrity on the basis of comedic plot has become a new original phenomenon. The desire to add logic to the ballet action led to the fact that in the circumstances of comedic action, the dance developed in the plot direction, often turning into a pantomime, involving an element of acting. In turn, under the influence of buffoonery and dance element, the tempo of the play becomes more revived, there is a rhythm and a certain “musicalization” of theatrical action, paving the way for the reform of French ballet, which was later carried out by Noverr under the direct influence of Beaumarchais and Gluck.

Abstract:

Despised but not Despicable – Failure of the Rhetoric of Dissuasion in Demain matin, Montréal m’attend by Michel Tremblay In Demain matin, Montréal m’attend, a comedy by Michel Tremblay written in the era of a Quiet Revolution, contempt takes on an argumentative value. Lola Lee, a singer and artist in La Main –an artistic neighborhood in Montreal. Lola’s younger sister –Louise –is jealous of the popularity gained by her older sibling. Lola Lee, in the attempt to discourage Louise from the idea of following in her footsteps travels with her through the most infamous artistic venues. During this trip Louise meets artists with questionable morals. The aim of the article is firstly to show how this journey, instead of generating contempt, becomes the core of searching for your own artistic identity. Secondly, the article explains how Tremblay’s art, using metaphors in the style of Almodóvar, represent the national dramaturgy of Quebec, in which the hero, which is an allegory of the whole society, undergoes an evolution that allows him to appreciate his own identity instead of despising it.

Abstract:
In Paris 1931, the Ligue des Droits de l'Homme published the pamphlet, Un forfait colonial: l'esclavage en Mauritanie. Its author was a man best known in the context of radical Dahomean politics, Louis Hunkanrin, who had cause to know Mauritania better than he would have liked during ten years spent there in political exile. This exposé of slavery in Mauritania is a curious concoction -- general information damning the morals, values and work ethic of Moorish society; selected cases of injustice drawn from his personal experience; a lengthy report by a medical official despairing of Mauritania's poor food production and its relation to the slave situation; an eloquent letter to the Governor of Mauritania presenting a defense of his own actions; brutal attacks on particular French administrators; all with a large dose of French patriotism liberally sprinkled throughout. As stated in his preface, Hunkanrin's aim in exposing the crimes committed against the blacks in Mauritania was none other than “to illuminate the true face of France in this territory where the French flag flies—emblem of peace, liberty, and justice: the France of the Rights of Man, maternal France, good, generous and just,… It is well understood that I am only concerned to serve the interests of France and humanity.”

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Children with Down syndrome (DS) have a 150-fold higher risk of developing myeloid leukemia (ML-DS) (Wechsler J, Nat Gen 2002). Ten percent (10%) of DS children are also predisposed to developing a preleukemic self-limiting condition, transient myeloproliferative disorder (TMD). While the majority of these children achieve complete remission, 20-30% of TMD patients will eventually develop ML-DS (Gamis AS, Blood 2011). Unique to ML-DS and TMD is the association with mutations in the X-linked hematopoietic transcription factor, GATA1 (Alford KA, Blood 2011), which are pathognomonic, but perhaps not sufficient, for ML-DS. Along with GATA1 mutations, ML-DS has a distinct mutational landscape implicating the cohesin complex, epigenetic regulators, signal transducers and the RAS pathway (Yoshida K, Nat Gen 2013). While these findings have informed our understanding of ML-DS etiology, ~30% of healthy DS neonates - without overt TMD or ML-DS - also harbor GATA1 mutations (Roberts I, Blood 2013), suggesting that ML-DS arises from clonal outgrowth of these progenitors that acquire specific additional mutations. Because the spectrum of physiologic clonal hematopoiesis is unknown in DS, we sought to characterize clonal mutations in healthy DS children as compared to a cohort of ML-DS cases using our highly sensitive and specific error-corrected sequencing (ECS) methodology. A precise understanding of their altered hematopoietic development may inform risk stratification, therapeutic selection and outcomes. Methods: The Druley lab has developed a custom error-corrected sequencing (ECS) panel targeting 80 genes frequently mutated in both pediatric and adult myeloid malignancies (Young AL, Nat Comm 2016) that is validated to identify clonal mutations as rare as 0.0001 variant allele fraction (VAF), 100X below the error-rate of next-generation sequencing (Wong TN, Nature 2015; Young AL, Leukemia 2015). Using ECS, we surveyed 102 DS children (47 ML-DS enrolled from a current Phase III ML-DS study; 55 healthy DS enrolled at St. Louis Children's Hospital). Results: We identified 294 total clonal variants in 72/102 children (60.0%, healthy DS; 83.0%, ML-DS cases) at 0.0002-0.82 VAF. On average, we found 1.8 clonal variants per healthy DS control and 4.1 clonal variants per ML-DS case. Consistent with Yoshida et al., we find a spectrum of recurrent mutations in ML-DS cases: GATA1 (53.2%), EZH2 (25.5%), RAD21 (14.9%), and STAG2 (10.6%) etc. Surprisingly, we also identified frequent mutations in FAT1 (14.9%) and SETD2 (10.6%), genes previously unassociated with ML-DS. Moreover, we report a different set of recurrent mutations in healthy DS children: FAT1 (12.7%), BCOR (12.7%), TET2 (10.9%), SETD2 (7.3%), and TRIM24 (5.5%), and TP53 (5.5%) etc. Discussion: Earlier ML-DS studies could only detect more common mutations >0.02 VAF due to the error-rate of standard next-generation sequencing (NGS). Using ECS, we present the first characterization of the unique clonal hematopoietic spectrum in children with DS and ML-DS. These results reveal that clonal hematopoiesis is common amongst healthy DS children without hematologic conditions, and that children with ML-DS have a higher clonal mutation burden than those without. Notably, we identified two novel genes recurrently mutated in both ML-DS cases and healthy DS controls: FAT1 and SETD2. We suspect that these mutations were not identified in other ML-DS studies as the median VAFs of our detected FAT1 and SETD2 mutations were 0.001 and 0.0008, respectively. Mutations in FAT1 and SETD2 have been shown to lead to dysregulated Wnt signaling in numerous cancers (Morris LG, Nat Gen 2013; Yuan H, J Clin Invest 2017). We and others have previously shown that Wnt signaling is crucial in specifying a primitive or definitive hematopoietic program (Sturgeon CM, Nat Biotech 2014; Creamer JP, Blood 2017). We speculate that these mutant FAT1 and SETD2 clones, like mutant GATA1 clones, may inhibit the definitive hematopoietic potential in DS children. Lastly, we note a reduced incidence of GATA1 mutations in our healthy DS cohort and attribute this to an older average age (8.3 years), as compared to Roberts et al. studying neonates. Other groups have speculated that somatic mutations in GATA1 (with a DS background) may only occur during a restricted developmental window (<4 years) as TMD clones cycle into quiescence afterwards (Zhe L, Nat Gen 2005; Hasle H, Leukemia 2007). Abstract:
During the Renaissance, many encyclopedic productions such as Collectaneas, Florilegia, Adagia, based on the aemulatio auctorum of Classical antiquity and exhibiting the ars scribendi ac ars colligendi of their authors, proliferated all over Europe. These humanists have transmitted, in their works, a perennial legacy at the service of a moral pedagogy, which is a driving force to literary genesis and creation. This process of imitatio, variatio ac renouatio converts the collector into auctor, and guides us in an intertextual construction, where the sententia’s rhetoric is developed under a promising conciliation of res et uerba. Erasmus is one of the most recognizable humanists with a leading role throughout the centuries. His works are a valuable contribution to the study of cultural context and philological framework, followed by many scholars and intellectuals such as Fray Louis of Granada. Thus, our intention is to shed light on the individual method of Granada in the composition of Collectanea Moralis Philosophiae (1571) and, at the same time, to consider how Granada’s use of apophthegmata resembles or differs from Eramus’ treatment of the genre. In this way, we will study this handbook under the meticulous scrutiny of several operative concepts, in order to discover its epistemic structure and philosophical matrix, to analyze the aesthetic and rhetorical features and to reveal the modus operandi of literary creation.

Abstract:
The first Southern African cartoonists were probably the Stone Age Bushman whose drawings adorn rock faces in this part of the continent. Modern cartoonists may use more sophisticated equipment but their drawings, although on recyclable print, also reflect a particular part of our history. The following view of Schoonraad et al (1989:15: "A collection of cartoons covering a particular period, will present an unequalled graphic history of political and current events" They also add that the state of any nation is reflected by its newspaper cartoons Geipel 1972 argues that to the historian, cartoons represent priceless primary source of information about fleeting modes and morals of the passing generations. Few commentators Pretoria will disagree that the run-up to the 1994-election can be regarded as one of the most crucial moments in South African history. The focus will only be on the editorial cartoon usually found on the centre pages of Sunday and daily newspapers and not on comic strips of which the majority are from US-syndications. The only local comic strips that provide (198 social and political commentary are "Ben, Babsie en Famille" and "Louis die Laeveld Leeu".

Abstract:
Those who have disputed Shakespeare's authorship of the plays and poems usually attributed to him have been inclined to name the eminent Shakespeare scholars who have vilified the anti-Stratfordian cause. In the Preface to his 1908 book The Shakes-peare Problem Restated, the urbane Sir Granville George Greenwood quoted Sidney Lee, then chair of Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust, mocking the Baconian theory as "foolish craze,' morbid psychology,' madhouse chatter" (vii) and John Churton Collins, chair of English Literature at the University of Birmingham, denouncing it as "ignorance and vanity" (viii). More recently, Charlton Ogburn has listed among the detractors of the Oxfordian theory Louis B. Wright, former director of the Folger Shakespeare Library (154, 161, 168); S. Schoenbaum, author of Shakespeare's Lives, which devotes one hundred pages "to denigration of...anti-Stratfordian articles and books" (152); and Harvard Shakespeare professors G. Blakemore Evans and Harry Levin (256-57). In view of the energy and labour expended by numerous prominent scholars defending Shakespearean authorship, it is not surprising to discover that this defence has influenced reception of Shakespeare's works and their editorial reproductions. This essay deals with the very successful resistance movement against the anti-Stratfordians that was led by A.W. Pollard from 1916 to 1923, and with the peculiar influence that Pollard's efforts have continued to exert, even upon today's Shakespeare editors.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: The humanized anti-CD74 monoclonal antibody, milatuzumab (hLL1, or IMMU-115; Immunomedics, Inc, Morris Plains, NJ), is in clinical evaluation for therapy of multiple myeloma (MM) after preclinical evidence of activity in this tumor type (Stein et al, Blood2004;104:3705). Here we examine the ability of milatuzumab to increase the efficacy of drugs in MM cell lines. Methods: MTT cytotoxicity assays were performed on a panel of MM cell lines, including CAG, KMS11, KMS12-PE, and MC/CAR, to examine the effects of bortezomib, doxorubicin (dox), and dexamethasone (dex) alone and combined with milatuzumab or milatuzumab + crosslinking 2nd Ab (goat anti-human IgG, GAH). In vivo studies used a CAG-SCID mouse model of disseminated disease. Results: Without drugs, crosslinked milatuzumab, but not milatuzumab alone, yielded significant anti-proliferative effects on the four MM cell lines. In combination studies, crosslinked milatuzumab produced significant reductions in the IC50 values of the anti-MM drugs. For example, in CAG, milatuzumab+GAH decreased the IC50 values 58%, 78%, and 98% for bortezomib, dox, and dex, respectively (P=0.0034, 0.0073, and 0.078, respectively). In vivo, milatuzumab at 100 μg/injection, 2x weekly for 4 weeks, starting 1 day after injection of CAG cells, more than doubled the median survival time (MST) from 42 days in untreated CAG-bearing SCID mice to 103 days. Combination therapy with milatuzumab and bortezomib or dox was compared to milatuzumab alone, with treatments initiated 5 days after injection of CAG cells. Bortezomib alone (1.0 mg/kg) increased MST from 33 to 44 days (P=0.0021 vs. untreated). Treatment with milatuzumab alone (100 μg/mouse) increased the MST to 73 days (P<0.0001 vs. untreated). When bortezomib and milatuzumab treatments were combined, the MST increased to 93 days (P=0.0441 vs. milatuzumab and P=0.0065 vs. bortezomib). Thus, the combination of milatuzumab and bortezomib increased survival significantly compared to either single treatment. Given alone, dox yielded little or no effect on survival compared with untreated animals, and there was no significant difference between milatuzumab monotherapy and milatuzumab plus doxorubicin in this model. In contrast, a milatuzumabdox immunoconjugate was found to be a highly effective therapeutic agent, with all mice achieving long-term survival. The inhibition of the NF-κB survival pathway of B-leukemic cells by milatuzumab supports its complementary effects when combined with drugs having different mechanisms of action, such as bortezomib. Conclusions: The therapeutic efficacies of bortezomib, dox, and dex are enhanced in vitro in MM cell lines when given in combination with milatuzumab. In vivo, milatuzumab alone or especially in combination with bortezomib is highly effective in MM. AbstractThis study aims to describe the development of curriculum management and learning in the Muhammadiyah Boarding School of Prambanan Yogyakarta. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation techniques supported by the public relations section in MBS. The data collected was analyzed using interactive inductive analyst techniques which included; data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that: 1.) the principles of curriculum development consist of the following four: the principle of social significance, the principle of growth, the principle of individual differences, and the principle of integration; 2.) Curriculum development and learning in MBS Prambanan cover two important aspects, namely: first, integration of the national education curriculum and Islamic boarding school, and second; making Muhammadiyah Boarding School is the center of student morals development. Integration of the national education curriculum and Islamic boarding school is carried out by way of MBS fully accepting the nationally applicable curriculum in the form of the 2013 Curriculum as part of realizing the ideals of national education but by adding to the Islamic boarding school curriculum typical of MBS. Whereas Muhammadiyah Boarding School as a center for morality training is a logical consequence as well as a manifestation of the ideals of the institution that wants to equip its students to master science and technology while at the same time possessing religious knowledge. The development of curriculum management and learning in Islamic boarding schools is integrated for the sake of progress in all educational institutions.

Abstract:
Al-Ghazali's views on economy and business are not limited to philosophical plains, but are a combination of real conditions that occur in society with philosophical values, accompanied by logical arguments. Al-Ghazali in his thoughts about business economics is based on the Sufism approach which he wrote in his book Ihya 'Ulum al-Din. As a matter of fact, there are still many practices of tadlis (unknown to one party), namely violating the principle of “an taraddin minkum”. The practice of tadlis occurs because of four things, namely quantity reduction of the scale; quality, namely the concealment of object defects; price engineering takes advantage of market price ignorance; uncertainty of delivery time, namely the seller does not know for sure the goods will be delivered to the buyer. In addition, we often encounter market engineering practices. Al-Ghazali paid considerable attention to economic and business activities in society, including the utility hierarchy and its characteristics in the corridor of social obligations to social welfare (maslahah). In addition, al-Ghazali views the ultimate goal is salvation. Work is part of worship is evidence of the work ethic created through extrarelgious efforts. That the intention of someone's behavior in accordance with Divine rules in every economic activity can be of worship value. Al-Ghazali has a view of market ethics that emphasizes truth and honesty, which can be applied to market evolution and the role of money based on the ethics and morals of the perpetrators. Al-Ghazali argued that the state must create security conditions to enhance prosperity and economic development. The existence of state institutions, to monitor adverse market practices. Al-Ghazali stated that trade activities are essential to the functionalization of the economy, the need for secure and safe trade routes, and the state should provide protection so that markets can expand and the economy can grow. Keywords: Islamic Business Ethics, Maslahah, Work Ethics. Sebagaimana fakta yang terjadi praktek bisnis masih banyak terjadi praktek tadlis (unknown to one party) yaitu melanggar prinsip “an taraddin minkum”.

Abstract:
Elles peuvent néanmoins inspirer une étude élargie et comparative, inexistante dans l’historiographie traditionnelle, des réalités et des perceptions de la famille chrétienne au-delà des frontières confessionnelles.MOTS-CLÉ: Époque Moderne, mariage, famille, protestantisme, Concile de TrenteABSTRACTThe main purpose of this paper is to encourage a broader supra-confessional approach to the history of marriage and the family in the Early Modern era. Wedlock was “desacralized” by the Protestant reformers of the 16th century. Martin Luther, among others, denied the sacramental status of marriage but valued it as a weapon against sin. In reaction, the Council of Trent reinforced marriage as one of the seven sacraments. But the Catholic Church, which promoted the superiority of celibacy, did little to defend the virtues of family life and piety before the 19th century. In parallel, historians have identified signs of a “sacralization” of the Protestant family since the 16th century. These findings must be relativized in the light of newer and more critical studies on gender relations and representations. But they can still inspire a broader comparative study, non-existent in traditional confessional historiography, of the realities and perceptions of the Christian family beyond denominational borders.KEY WORDS: Early Modern Christianity, marriage, family, Protestantism, Council of Trent BIBLIOGRAPHIEAdair, R., Courtship, Illegitimacy and Marriage in Early Modern England, Manchester, Manchester University Press, 1996.Beaulande-Barraud, V., “Sexualité, mariage et procréation. Abstract:
This paper will attempt to reflect Francis Schaeffer’s life and thought, with special emphasis on his apologetics. The primary resource was one of his books<em> How Should We Then Live </em>and also several books about Schaeffer from many authors: (1) Francis Schaeffer’s Apologetics: A Critique by Thomas Morris, (2) Reflection on Francis Schaeffer, edited by Ronald W. Ruegsegger, and (3) Francis Schaeffer: The Man and His Message, written by Louis Gifford Parkhurst, Jr. In his Verification Apologetical methods, he used of elements of <em>common ground</em> as a point of contact with unbelievers. Unlike the inductive approach, he majors on inner, existential values as well as outer empirical data. Also dissimilar with the pre-suppositional approach, Schaeffer’s method discovers and appeals to factual and personal data in confirmation of his hypothesis

"PECULIARITIES OF INTERDEPENDENCE OF RADICALS OF NARCISSICAL REGULATION AND TYPES OF PERSONALITY OF DRUG ABUSE PERSONALITY." С. Сковороди "Психология", no. 63 (2020): 8–17. http://dx.doi.org/10.34142/23129387.2020.63.01.

Abstract:
Aim: to study the features of the interdependence of radicals of narcissistic regulation with the characterological types of personality of drug addicts, which complements the awareness of the holistic picture of the functioning of the addictive personality. Methodology of research: the article presents the results of a study of the peculiarities of the interdependence of radicals of narcissistic regulation and personality types of drug addicts. Based on informed consent in compliance with the principles of bioethics and deontology during 2019-2020. On the basis of the "Vertical" rehabilitation center, a psychodiagnostic study was carried out on 102 male patients with drug abused of the opioid group at the age of 18-26 years, and 54 healthy male persons at the age of 18-27 years without signs of somatic, mental pathology and drug addiction. To diagnose the peculiarities of the organization of narcissistic regulation of personality, the method "Index of Self-System Functioning" was used (Zalutska N. M. et al., 2003); to study characterological radicals of personality, the test "Self-portrait of personality" by Jen M. Oldham and Louis B. Morris was used. Correlations were studied using the Kendall rank correlation. Results: the article presents the results of a study of the interdependence of radicals of narcissistic regulation and personality types of drug addicts. Conclusions: the study of the interdependence of personality types with the characterological radicals of narcissistic regulation and drug addicts complements the awareness of the holistic picture of the functioning of an addictive personality. The results of the study indicate the presence of multiple correlations between the indicators of narcissistic regulation and the characterological characteristics of the personality types of drug addicts. The existing correlations allow drug addicts to form compensatory mechanisms to mask their own narcissistic deficit.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study of the characteristics of narcissistic regulation of drug addicts. The aim of the study is to investigate the features of narcissistic regulation of drug addicts as forms of borderline personality organization and personality types of drug addicts. According to the set goal and objectives of the study, a research sample was formed. Based on informed consent in compliance with the principles of bioethics and deontology during 2019-2020. a psychodiagnostic study of 102 male patients with drug addiction of the opioid group was carried out on the basis of the "Vertical" rehabilitation center at the age of 18-26 years, and 54 healthy males at the age of 18-27 years without signs of somatic, mental pathology and drug addiction. To achieve this goal, we used the following methods: for the study of narcissistic regulation - "Index of the functioning of the Self-system" (Zalutskaya N.M. and oth., 2003); for the study of personality characterological radicals were used test "Self-portrait of personality" Jen M. Oldham and Louis B. Morris. Mathematical processing was carried out using the methods of mathematical statistics (SPSS Statistics 21): methods for checking the reliability of differences in unrelated samples (Mann-Whitney U-test). Conclusions: Narcissistic regulation of drug addicts is based on the formation of an ideal image for others, acting as a social “mask” caused to hide the terrible inner emptiness, baseness and depravity of their own “Self”. A rigid internal imperative is based on the background of parent-child relationships and levels the internal infantile dependence on the inflated expectations of parents. The personality profile of drug addicts is based on the multidimensional development of personality types, which introduce individual characteristics into the personality of drug addicts and manifest themselves under certain circumstances, indicating a conditional heterogeneity in these characteristics. The study of the interdependence of personality types with the characterological radicals of narcissistic regulation and drug addicts complements the awareness of the holistic picture of the functioning of an addictive personality. The existing correlations allow drug addicts to form compensatory mechanisms to mask their own narcissistic deficit.

Abstract:
This article examines the moral duality presented in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and its connection to the Christian morals guiding Victorian society. It suggests that the novella undermines a dualistic Christian perception of human nature through changes in point of view and by replacing a clear duality with an abject ambiguity. It argues that in the novella abjection of part of the self is portrayed as destructive and that the novella is essentially a critique of repressive Christian morals.
