Abstract:
If plants absorb too little water and the cells in plant leaves is not full, there might exist atrophy characteristic distortion of the cell concentration of leaf and leaf morphological characteristic. Traditional algorithm carries out deformation measurement for withered leaf based on cell concentration characteristics and leaf morphological characteristics. Once the character distorted, characteristic parameters of leaf cell sap will be inaccurate reducing the measurement accuracy for withered leaf deformation. Therefore, we propose a computer vision-based plant leaves wilt deformation measurement method. The experimental results show that this algorithm significantly improves the accuracy of the measurement.

We have studied the morphological, morphometric parameters of the liver of white rats. Against the background of polypharmacy, when using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, it was revealed in the structure of the liver, which led to various damage to the liver parenchyma. The simultaneous use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs leads to acute or chronic liver failure in rats. The longer the therapy for chronic diseases, the more pronounced morphological changes (necrosis, fibrosis, and cholestasis).

Abstract:
Black-winged myna (Acridotheres melanopterus) is an endemic bird of Java and Bali, currently critically endangered based on International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN) since 2010. The study about black-winged myna morphological characteristic is important because it has two relatives with almost identical features of morphology. The information can be used as a basis in breeding management to avoid hybridization. The study aims to determine the morphological characteristics of black-winged myna. The sample selection was done using purposive sampling method. Data was taken from 36 black-winged mynas with >=2 years old. Data collection was done by measuring and documenting every morphological feature of the observed body parts. Documentation of the wings, back, chest, head and sides of the body are taken from each bird using a digital camera. The results showed that almost the entire body of black-winged myna covered by white feather, black feather only present on the cover of the wings and tail. Black eyes surrounded by yellow skin without feather. The beak is orange with blackish parts around the nostrils. The bird has yellow legs with three fingers at the front and one finger at the back. The average body length of this bird is 22.5 cm, weight 89.02 g, width 5.98 cm, body circumference 14.36 cm and wingspan 38.49 cm.

Abstract:
The ryegrass species are visually similar, and therefore, correct identification of short-lived species is very important in breeding work. The aim of the current study was to identify short-lived ryegrass species and subspecies using anatomical and morphological characteristics. The study was carried out at the Institute of Agriculture, Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry (during 2007-2010). The assessment of morphological and anatomical traits showed that average values for species diverged, but values for individual plants often overlapped between species. One of the most characteristic traits of Lolium. x hybridum was darker leaf colour (6.7 score). Awns are characteristic for both Lolium multiflorum subspecies, while perennial ryegrass plants are awn-less. Lolium x hybridum has a short awn or no awn, depending on which parental (Lolium perenne or Lolium multiflorum) species trait was stronger. As a result, identification of short-lived species according to this trait is difficult, and sometimes impossible. Analysis of leaf cross-section of short-lived ryegrass species indicated that a characteristic of Lolium multiflorum subsp. multiflorum was conjugation of sclerenchyma fibres not only in the central but also in lateral bundles, in contrast with Lolium multiflorum subsp. italicum and Lolium x hybridum. Lolium multiflorum subsp. multiflorum. This difference occurs only at the inflorescence emergence stage

Abstract:
The Chroococcus-like strain was collected from anthropogenic meadow on the Barents Sea coast (Murmansk Region, Russia). It was studied by light microscope, the nucleotide sequences of 16S rRNA and ITS were obtained. Based on 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis, the strain KPABG LID-610023 was placed in the clade of Inacoccus in spite of morphological and molecular differences from one already established species: Inacoccus carmineus. Morphologically the tested strain did not show colored hyaline envelopes, and nanocytes were absent. The nucleotide sequences of 16S rRNA gene clearly demonstrated a genetic difference, separating it from Inacoccus carmineus. In addition, we compared ITS sequences of KPABG LID-610023 strain and Inacoccus carmineus and found that nucleotide composition, length, and secondary structures of D1–D1' and Box-B were different. These results suggest that the strain KPABG LID-610023 appear to be a new species of the genus Inacoccus. Possibly this new species is a cryptic taxon due to its morphological similarity with Chroococcus pallidus Näg.

Time-frequency analysis methods such as wavelet analysis are applied to investigate characteristic from non-stationary signals. In this study, we proposed redundant morphological wavelet analysis that was a kind of nonlinear discrete wavelet and redundant wavelet. This method analyzes a transition of shape information from signals in detail since this method keeps property of shift invariance though information of decomposition includes redundancy. Local pattern spectrum which corresponds to nonlinear short time Fourier transform is derived from this nonlinear wavelet. The characteristics of these methods were confirmed by applying to simulation data and actual data.

Abstract:
✓ The mitogenic and morphological effects of acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF) and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) were assessed on cultured fetal rat astrocytes and C6 rat glioma cells in the presence and absence of serum. Astrocytes incubated with aFGF exhibited an increase in mitotic activity and characteristic morphological changes involving extensive process formation and rounding of cell bodies. Astrocytes incubated with TGF-β underwent a slight decrease in mitotic activity and remained morphologically unchanged. Cells exposed to a combination of aFGF and TGF-β demonstrated an attenuation of both the mitogenic and morphological changes observed in the presence of aFGF alone. The C6 glioma cells cultured in the presence of aFGF underwent a characteristic morphological change from a rounded piling cell mass to a more spindle-shaped bipolar cell layer, accompanied by an increase in mitotic activity. In contrast to the astrocyte cultures, increased growth and similar morphological effects were produced by TGF-β. The combination of aFGF and TGF-β did not result in attenuation of the mitogenic and morphological changes (as seen in astrocytic cells). These results suggest that, in normal fetal rat astrocytes, TGF-β is capable of attenuating the mitogenic and morphological changes induced by aFGF in vitro. In the transformed C6 glioma cell line, aFGF and TGF-β elicit similar mitogenic and morphological changes, without evidence of an antagonistic interaction as seen in normal astrocytes.

Abstract:
Adipose tissue is an organ that performs a lot of significant physiological functions, which is why its excess in the body results in pathological states in many of its organs and systems. Adipose tissue is not only a tissue which stores fat and plays a protective role. It is an important endocrine organ where signals sent from different tissues are generated and integrated. Adipose tissue is both morphologically and physiologically differentiated. However, due to their plasticity, adipocytes can undergo a transformation and change their structure and metabolism depending on the physiological state of the organism and the conditions to which it is exposed.

Abstract:
Aim. To assess the morphological changes in inguinal lymph nodes among patients with stage 4a HIV infection, who receive antiretroviral therapy. Materials and methods. There were examined 12 HIV-infected patients with stage 4a, treated at “Perm Regional Center for Prevention and Fight against AIDS and Infectious Diseases”, who received antiretroviral therapy for 2 years. Two groups of patients were formed: group I – 6 persons, whose CD+ blood lymphocyte number was more than 350 in 1 mcl; group II – 6 persons with CD+ blood lymphocyte number less than 350 in 1 mcl. Inguinal lymph nodes (ILN) were taken under local anesthesia, histological preparations were prepared by traditional scheme, stained with hematoxylin and eosin using Masson three-colour staining. In immunohistochemical reactions expression of Ki-67 and CD+ markers was estimated. Results.Histoarchitectonics of lymph nodes was changed as a result of massive development of sclerosis in the region of hilum, capsule and trabecules. Against the background of sclerosis, there occurred lymphocyte depletion, change in structure of stromal cells and neoangiogenesis in all the zones of the lymph node. In the regions of sclerosis, death of lymphocytes was revealed. In patients of the second group, more active development of follicles with the centers of reproduction in the lymph node cortical substance, as well as growth of the number of Ki-67 maker-expressing cells was established Conclusions. In the inguinal lymph nodes, the development of sclerotic processes causes the death of T-lymphocytes, which, in their turn, are the source of lymphotoxin-β formation. Loss of CD+-T-lymphocytes is accompanied by deficit of lymphotoxin-β and induces the loss of fibroblastic reticular cells themselves, which through the production of IL-7 support the vital activity of T-cells.

Abstract:
The aim: To identify characteristic features of structural change of the dorsal part of the mucous membrane of the tongue (MMT) in experimental streptozotocin-induced diabetes (ESID). Materials and methods: The study included 20 adult white male rats of Vistar line (body weight 180-200 g), which were equally divided into 2 groups: experimental (simulated streptozotocin diabetes mellitus) and control ones Results: 8 weeks after the beginning of ESID modeling, the changes in MMT are particularly pronounced. A large number of lamellar structures and keratin conglomerates are found on the surface of MMT. This phenomenon is closely correlated (r=0.70) with a decrease in the absorption capacity of superficial epitheliocytes and an increase in the number of heterogeneous microflora on the impression smear with low activity of leukocyte elements. The number of epitheliocytes of differentiation stages I-III continues to increase, and the number of epitheliocytes of differentiation stages IV-VI diminishes, which leads to a significant decrease in the index of cell differentiation and an increase in the nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio. Such changes in MMT impression smears indicate active processes of epithelial desquamation with increasing duration of ESID. Conclusions: Thus, the morphological changes of MMT in ESID are characterized by a diverse combination of atrophic and hyperplastic processes, resulting in uneven thickening of multilayered squamous epithelium. There are pronounced dystrophic changes in the epitheliocytes of the stratum corneum (dyskeratosis, parakeratosis) in the area of the taste buds. All areas of MMT are inflamed which indicates the development of diabetic glossitis.

Abstract:
The morphological characteristics of athletes are one of the essential factors of sporting achievements in different sports. Football is one of the sports where monitoring changes in the morphological characteristics is a standard process for monitoring training effects. Purpose of this paper was to show changes in the morphological characteristics of footballers over two preparatory periods during one year. Morphological characteristics of footballers were analyzed using a bioelectric impedance method on body analyzer Tanita MC 780, height was measured using SECA type 220. Statistical analysis was done with IBM SPSS Statistics 26, with statistical significance set at p≤0.05. During the first preparatory period, statistically significant changes were found for the following variables: Total body water (TBW) (MD= -0.86; p=0.02), Intra celular water (ICW) (MD= -0.70; p=0.03), Percent Muscle Mass (PMM) (MD= -1.04; p=0.012). During the second preparatory period, statistically significant changes were found for the following variables: Percent Body Fat (PBF) (MD= -1.40; p=0.02), TBW (MD= 1.25; p=0.01), ICW (MD= 0.10; p=0.004), PMM (MD= 1.30; p=0.01). Concerning the obtained results, we conclude that the training process is not the only factor influencing the morphological characteristics of athletes.

Abstract:
Garden potato varieties grown on more than 1.5 ha are subject to variety registration to be sold as seed potato in Canada. Prerequisites for the registration of varieties include the pedigree and breeding history as well as a morphological description. For most varieties, no pedigree or morphological description is available, and furthermore, some groups are essentially derived from one another. Therefore, a review to determine the genetic and morphological similarities and uniqueness of some of the garden potato varieties was initiated. Seven garden potato varieties grown over the largest areas in Canada were genotyped using a set of nine microsatellite [simple sequence repeat (SSR)] markers, resulting in six distinct SSR profiles. These varieties were also grown out for morphological description, providing supplementary information for the national registration and their monitoring during the seed certification process. To further assess the genetic similarities of garden or heritage varieties, 84 potato varieties were genotyped, and the unique SSR profiles of 62 varieties and six SSR profiles shared among the other 22 varieties were added to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency potato variety reference SSR profile collection. Furthermore, a set of blue varieties were described morphologically to evaluate the nature of morphological characteristic variation of varieties sharing the same SSR profile. Although all 14 varieties grown show some morphological differences, all varieties within each group sharing an SSR profile also clustered together based on morphological characteristics.

Abstract:
The external morphology of Tephritoidea was studied, including the types and distribution of sensilla on the female postabdomen. The complex oviposition behavior of tephritoid flies has resulted in extensive morphological modifications of the female postabdominal segments and the formation of characteristic distribution patterns of sensilla. The study revealed three morphologically distinct types of postabdomen in Tephritoidea: otitid, tephritid, and pyrgotid. The possible physiological functions of the major morphological adaptations and the homologies of segments of the post abdomen are discussed. The results confirm the present conception of the superfamily Tephritoidea, with the exception of Piophilidae. The morphological differences found in the female terminalia of Piophilidae indicate that inclusion of this family within Tephritoidea should be reconsidered.

Abstract:
Articles of the lomentaceous fruits encountered in the thirty-six species of Brazilian Zornia species are described, illustrated and compared using scanning electron microscopy and stereomicroscopy. Macro-and micro-morphological characters of the fruit articles provide excellent diagnostic taxonomic characters (including fruit shape, fruit article surface, presence/absence of glands, presence/absence of bristles, and presence/absence of hairs) to distinguish among the Brazilian taxa. Results generally support the species recognised for Brazil although the micro-morphological characters have limited taxonomic value within some species complexes, in which taxa can be better differentiated using other morphological characteristics. The results of macro-morphological analyses show that the morphology of fruit articles is related to the geographical distribution pattern of each species and is a good source of morphological character to distinguish the species of Zornia. We present here an inedit identification key, based on the loment morphology, to distinguish the Brazilian species of Zornia.

Abstract:
A complex clinical case of acute myelomonocytic leukemia with extramedullary lesion of the testis is presented. patient yu., born in 1968, applied to the National Medical Research Centre for Oncology (Rostov-on-don) after an injury to the inguinal region. ultrasound was performed: in the right testicle in the middle third, a mass of 30 × 23 × 16 mm was revealed. A biopsy was performed: the morphological picture is characteristic of a typical seminoma. Orchofuniculectomy was performed on the right. Histopathological conclusion: the morphological picture is more characteristic of a typical seminoma, but does not allow excluding lymphoma. In order to differentiate between a germ cell tumor and a lymphoproliferative disease, an immunohistochemical study of the tumor tissue, a morphological and immunophenotypic study of the bone marrow were performed. According to the immunohistochemical data, the morphological picture and immunophenotype of tumor cells are characteristic of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma of the testis with Cd4 co-expression. However, according to the myelogram data, 20 % of morphologically heterogeneous blast cells were found: with round or bean-shaped nuclei, delicate mesh structure of chromatin, 1–2 nucleoli and a monocytoid form of nuclei with indistinct nucleoli. The cytoplasm of varying basophilia degrees, vacuolized, with delicate azurophilic granularity. The content of the monocytoid population was increased (19 %), represented mainly by promonocytes, which corresponds to acute myelomonocytic leukemia. According to flow cytometry, the immunophenotype of blast cells corresponds to acute myeloid leukemia with Cd56 co-expression. In connection with the new data obtained, the histological preparation was revised again with the expansion of the immunohistochemical study. Result: morphological picture and immunophenotype of tumor cells are characteristic of acute myelomonocytic leukemia with extramedullary lesions of the right testicular tissue. final diagnosis: acute myelomonocytic leukemia with extramedullary lesion of the right testicle, with Cd56 co-expression. The presented clinical case showed the need to use a wide range of diagnostic techniques to determine the nature of the disease. The results of morphological and cytometric studies of the bone marrow were decisive in establishing the diagnosis of M4 acute myeloid leukemia with extramedullary lesions of the right testicle in this patient.

Abstract:
The aim: To substantiate the diagnosis and treatment of chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis in Crohn’s disease. Materials and methods: The analysis of diagnostic and treatment of 52 patients with chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis in Crohn’s disease (main group), mean age 31.8 + 2.3 was performed. The comparison group consisted of 50 patients with chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis not associated with Crohn’s disease (mean age 34.7 + 1.8). Patients in both groups were studied for clinical manifestations, morphological and immunohistochemical studies the aphthae on the oral mucosa were performed. Results: An objective evaluation of the oral mucosa showed that the aphthae on the oral mucosa in patients of both groups did not differ visually. In the morphological study, the patients in the main group had granulomatous inflammation of the oral mucosa, characteristic of Crohn’s disease, while the patients in the comparison group had fibrinous inflammation. Immunohistochemical study of the cell infiltrate phenotype in the area of the lesion revealed that the patients in the main group there prevailed CD68+macrophages, the appearance of both intraepithelial and cell infiltrates of T-lymphocyte suppressors, which is characteristic of Crohn’s disease. Conclusions: Diagnosis of chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis in Crohn’s disease is based on biopsy of the aphthae on the oral mucosa and their morphological examination, the results of which confirm the presence of granulomatous inflammation, with a large number of macrophages, the presence of T-lymphocytes, characteristic of Crohn’s disease, while recurrent aphthous stomatitis of another genesis morphologically detect fibrinous inflammation. The choice of therapeutic tactics for chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis depends on the results of the morphological study. When granulomatous inflammation is detected in patients with chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis, which is characteristic of Crohn’s disease, in addition to topical treatment of the oral mucosa, specific therapy with mesalazine drugs is prescribed.

Abstract:
UDK 582.632.2:581.45(497.6) This paper deals with the morphological variability of beech leaves (Fagus sylvatica L.) of various provenances in part of its natural range in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the study was to determine whether beech leaves of various provenances in Bosnia and Herzegovina demonstrate morphological variability, and whether the morphology of beech leaves is an inherited characteristic or is influenced by the habitat conditions of a given provenance. Following an examination of the morphological characteristics of the beech leaves of each provenance, both intra-provenance and inter-provenance variability of certain leaf characteristics was identified, among both naturally regenerated specimens and seedlings raised from seed from the same provenance. As regards heredity and morphological leaf characteristics, no correlation was identified between the morphology of leaves of specific provenance and the equivalent nursery-raised seedlings. This suggests that the majority of the morphological parameters of beech leaves are not inherited, and that beech in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a fairly variable and adaptive species.

Abstract:
The generation of neuronal diversity requires the coordinated development of differential patterns of ion channel expression along with characteristic differences in dendritic geometry, but the relations between these phenotypic features are not well known. We have used a combination of intracellular recordings, morphological analysis of dye-filled neurons, and stereological analysis of immunohistochemically labeled sections to investigate the development of characteristic electrical and morphological properties of functionally distinct populations of sympathetic neurons that project from the celiac ganglion to the splanchnic vasculature or the gastrointestinal tract of guinea pigs. At early fetal stages, neurons were significantly more depolarized at rest compared with neurons at later stages, and they generally fired only a single action potential. By mid fetal stages, rapidly and slowly adapting neurons could be distinguished with a topographic distribution matching that found in adult ganglia. Most rapidly adapting neurons (phasic neurons) at this age had a long afterhyperpolarization (LAH) characteristic of mature vasomotor neurons and were preferentially located in the lateral poles of the ganglion, where most neurons contained neuropeptide Y. Most early and mid fetal neurons showed a weak M current, which was later expressed only by rapidly-adapting and LAH neurons. Two different A currents were present in a subset of early fetal neurons and may indicate neurons destined to develop a slowly adapting phenotype (tonic neurons). The size of neuronal cell bodies increased at a similar rate throughout development regardless of their electrical or neurochemical phenotype or their topographical location. In contrast, the rate of dendritic growth of neurons in medial regions of the ganglion was significantly higher than that of neurons in lateral regions. The apparent cell capacitance was highly correlated with the surface area of the soma but not the dendritic tree of the developing neurons. These results demonstrate that the well-defined functional populations of neurons in the celiac ganglion develop their characteristic electrophysiological and morphological properties during early fetal stages of development. This is after the neuronal populations can be recognized by their neurochemical and topographical characteristics but long before the neurons have finished growing. Our data provide strong circumstantial evidence that the development of the full phenotype of different functional classes of autonomic final motor neurons is a multi-step process likely to involve a regulated sequence of trophic interactions.

Abstract:
Abstract Rivers constitute an important focus of attention in surface water studies because of their dynamic nature. Therefore, natural rivers develop a wide range of channel forms whose characteristics vary as a function of the position within the fluvial systems. This study examined the river channel morphologic parameters along the alluvial section of River Ogun in South western Nigeria. Data on the channel morphologic variables were collected through field measurement of the bankfull cross sectional characteristics of the river from where the longitudinal characteristics were defined. 48 cross sections were randomly established at bankfull stage along the river channel stretch of 90 km. Bankfull depth and width at each of the cross sections were determined using sonar (electronic sounding machine) that was mounted to a boat. Velocity was measured with the aid of a current meter, while other morphological parameters were estimated from the field data. Analysis of variance revealed that downstream morphological characteristics of the river varies distinctively at each cross section with bedslope as the most significantly varied among all other morphologic parameters (F=91.18; P=0.00). Pearson product moment correlation technique revealed that bankfull width had a correlation of 0.8 and 0.9 with wetted perimeter and cross sectional area respectively while bankfull depth (maximum) had correlations of 0.9, 0.8 and 0.78 with hydraulic radius, wetted perimeter and cross sectional area respectively. The research also revealed that gradient affects the discharge with a positive correlation of 0.9. The study ascertains the extent of variability in the morphologic characteristic of River Ogun which provides scientific basis for river maintenance and management.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to describe, for the first time, the microscopic characteristics of Piper mosenii C. DC. (Piperaceae) leaves and the phytochemical composition of the aerial parts of the species grown wild in Brazil. Macroscopic analysis of the leaves was made with naked eye and supplemented with stereomicroscopy. The leaves showed similar venation than observed for other Piper species, but with a greater amount of colenchyma cells. The absence of endoderm was observed in the cross section of the leaf, which is a characteristic not reported for other Piper species. The phytochemical investigation resulted in the isolation of four benzoic acid derivatives (1-4), two chromanones (5, 6) and a dihydrochalcone (7). Compound 6, 2,2-dimethyl-6-carboxychroman-4-one acid is being described for the first time in Piperaceae, and the compound (4) 3-(1'-oxo-3'-methyl-2'-butenyl)-4-methoxy-benzoic acid is being reported for the first time in the literature.

Abstract:
1. Intracellular current-clamp recordings were made from neurons of the basolateral nucleus of the amygdala (BLA) of the rat in the in vitro slice preparation. Neurons were identified morphologically after intracellular injection of biocytin, and the electrophysiological properties and morphological characteristics were correlated. 2. Three distinct morphological subtypes were identified: Class I pyramidal neurons, Class I stellate neurons, and Class II neurons. Each morphological subtype could also be distinguished according to its characteristic electrophysiological properties. 3. Class I pyramidal neurons typically had pyramidal perikarya (cross-sectional area = 245 microns2) with spine-laden apical and basal dendrites. The axon originated from the largest basal dendrite and produced several collaterals that ramified throughout the dendritic arborization of the parent cell. These neurons were characterized electrophysiologically by their higher input resistance (65.6 M omega), long time constant of membrane charging tau 0 (27.8 ms), long duration action potential (half-width = 0.85 ms), and regular firing pattern [1st interspike interval ISI) = 91 ms]. 4. Class I stellate neurons differed morphologically from Class I pyramidal neurons only in the size (cross sectional area = 330 microns 2) and stellate appearance of their perikarya. These neurons had characteristic lower input resistance (40.1 M omega), shorter time constant of membrane charging tau 0 (14.5 ms), shorter duration action potential (half-width = 0.7 ms), and a burst firing pattern (1st ISI = 6.0 ms), all of which were statistically different from Class I pyramidal neurons. 5. Class II neurons were multipolar (cross sectional area = 235 microns 2) and were distinguishable from Class I neurons by the almost complete absence of dendritic spines. Class II neurons were characterized electrophysiologically by a midrange input resistance (58 M omega), intermediate time constant of membrane charging tau 0 (19 ms), intermediate action-potential duration (half-width = 0.77 ms), and a burst firing pattern (1st ISI = 6.0 ms). In contrast to Class I neurons, action-potential firing of Class II neurons did not accommodate in response to prolonged depolarizing current injection. 6. In conclusion, BLA neurons may be characterized by their specific electrophysiological properties as well as by their morphological traits. Therefore, permitting assessment of signal transduction in identified populations of neurons within this nucleus.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVEPrevious studies have shown a relation between growth and rupture of intracranial aneurysms. Additionally, several morphological characteristics are frequently measured to estimate rupture risk. Little is known about how the rupture risk is associated with morphological characteristic changes during growth. The aim of this study was to provide insights into how morphological characteristics, associated with rupture, change during an aneurysm’s growth.METHODSThe authors retrospectively identified patients with longitudinal MRA images of unruptured growing aneurysms. The MRA images had an in-plane resolution of 0.2–0.5 mm and a slice thickness of 0.2–0.75 mm. Therefore, growth was defined as an increase of at least 0.5 mm in two directions or 1 mm in one direction. Using the MRA images, the authors semiautomatically segmented the aneurysm and the perianeurysmal vasculature. Twelve morphological characteristics were automatically measured. These characteristics were related to size (diameter, height, width, neck diameter, volume, surface area, aspect ratio, height-width ratio, and bottleneck factor) and shape (ellipticity index, nonsphericity index, and undulation index) of the aneurysm. Morphological characteristics before and after growth were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.RESULTSThe authors included 31 patients with 38 growing aneurysms. The aneurysms’ growth was detected after a mean of 218 weeks (range 23–567 weeks). A significant increase was seen in all size-related characteristics, and the bottleneck factor also significantly increased (from a median of 1.00 [IQR 0.85–1.04] to 1.03 [IQR 0.93–1.18]), while the ellipticity index decreased (from a median of 0.26 [IQR 0.25–0.28] to 0.25 [IQR 0.24–0.26]). The changes in size ratios and shape indices varied largely among patients. Larger aneurysms more often showed an increase in shape ratios.CONCLUSIONSAlthough aneurysm growth, size-related characteristics, bottleneck factor, and ellipticity index changed significantly during growth, most size ratios and shape indices showed inconsistent changes among aneurysms. This suggests that, for an accurate rupture prediction, morphological parameters need to be reassessed after growth.

Abstract:
Since knowledge possession about the morphological characteristics trend is important to understand, it is necessary to monitor the physical growth and children’s development. We have aimed to examine the current state, dynamics, and direction of changes in morphological characteristics, over a 30-year period in Serbian children and adolescents. Morphological characteristics measured in 2020 ( n = 304 ; age 7 ± 6 and 11 ± 6 ) were compared with the results of same-age children and adolescents from 1990 ( n = 1789 ). The following characteristics were measured: body height, body mass, body mass index, forearm circumference, and upper arm skinfold. The average height (95% IP) of 7-year-old boys was significantly lower in all morphological variables in 1990, compared to their 2020 peers, while in forearm circumference was opposite. As for the 11-year-old boys, body mass ( p = 0.02 ) and BMI ( p = 0.009 ) had significantly better average values in 2020 than 1990, whereas forearm circumference (1.6-2.5 cm) and upper arm skinfold (2.7-4.9 cm) results were opposite. Seven-year-old girls from a 1990 sample also had significantly lower average values for morphological characteristics, compared to their 2020 peers. All morphological characteristic variables of 11-year-old girls have significantly better average values in 1990 sample than in 2020, except for body mass ( p = 0.47 ) and BMI ( p = 0.55 ). The current results have presented a true “picture” of the trends in morphological characteristics status among 7- and 11-year-old Serbian children by comparing them with the already obtained results 30 years ago.

Abstract Four bromeliad species in the genus Neoregelia were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for morphological characteristics and density of trichomes that may influence absorptive capacities. Neoregelia trichomes were classically peltate, generally elliptic, exhibiting a web-like cap characteristic of the Bromelioideae. Minor variations were evident between species in morphology, density, and distribution. Copper from copper sulfate applied to leaf surfaces was absorbed and translocated as determined by atomic absorption spectrometry, but uptake was not related to trichome density as determined by SEM nondispersice technique.

Abstract:
<p>Javan Langur (Trachypithecus auratus) is one of endemic primates in Indonesia and classified into vulnerable level. Based on its morphological characteristic and geographic area, Javan Langur divided into 2 subspecies, those are Trachypithecus auratus auratus and Trachypithecus auratus mauritius. The identification of its morphological characteristic and genetic in species or subspecies level is important before releasing because it is correlated with inbreeding grouping and releasing place. The aim of this study is to identify the Javan Langur (Trachypithecus auratus) in Javan Langur Center (JLC) Coban Talun-Batu based on D-Loop sequence. The blood sample used in this study was taken from two adult female Javan Langur named Ijem and Embun, that have different morphological characteristics. Both (primates) are suggested to be T.a.mauritius and T.a.auratus respectively. The amplification of D-Loop sequence by mean of PCR technique was performed using specific designed primers forward D-LoopRs 5’-GTACTTAACTCCACCACCAA-3’ and reverse D-LoopRs 5’-GTTGAGTTGGGTATGCTCGA-3’. The phylogenetic tree reconstruction based on MEGA 5 using Maximum Likelihood (ML) method and pairwise distance analysis with Kimura-2 parameter model shows that Ijem and Embun are placed in different clade. Pairwise distance from those samples value is 11,4%, it prove that they are interspecies. This result supports the morphological characteristic and previous research used Cyt-b sequence, Ijem is Trachypithecus auratus mauritius and Embun is Trachypithecus auratus auratus. </p><p>Keywords : Identification, Javan Langur (Trachypithecus auratus), D-loop, Javan Langur Center</p>
