Abstract:
This study aims to describe religious values in the novel Nafsul Muthmainnah by Anfika Noer. The religious values analyzed include regulatory aspects (sharia), beliefs (creeds), and actions (morals). The approach used, namely the qualitative approach and the method used in this study is a descriptive analysis method. The use of this method is adjusted to the main purpose of the research, which is to describe and analyze religious values in a novel entitled Nafsul Muthmainnah by Anfika Noer. Descriptive method is a method used to describe or analyze a research result but not used to make broader conclusions. The purpose of this descriptive study is to make a description, description, or painting systematically, factually and accurately about the facts, traits, and relationships between phenomena investigated. The content analysis method is able to uncover the tendency of message content based on the context of the content of a text. The depth of content analysis will be more complete and detailed in understanding the contents of the text and able to associate with the context of reality that occurs. In this study, data information analysis was carried out through the stages of identifying all data, describing data, analyzing data, then interpreting existing data based on religious values in the novel. Conclusions from this study, namely that there are many religious values related to regulations (shari'a), beliefs (creeds), and actions (morals) in the Nafsul Muthmainnah novel by Anfika Noer's work. The religious values contained in this novel, namely aspects of sharia as many as 13 data findings, aspects of faith as many as 21 data findings, and moral aspects as many as 42 data findings. The most finding data is the moral aspect as many as 42 data findings and the least is the sharia aspect of 13 data findings.

Aspek dalam kehidupan sosial yang telah ada masyarakat merupakan cerminan dari munculnya karya sastra. Oleh karena itu, budaya Moral, kehidupan sosial, dan karya sastra berkaitan erat. Banyak nilai-nilai sosial dan budaya yang secara tidak langsung maupun tidak langsung ingin disampaikan langsung oleh pengarang melalui karya yang dibuatnya. Sehubungan dengan penelitian ini, ada permasalahan yang akan diteliti sebagai berikut: (a) Nilai-nilai moral yang terkandung dalam Novel Tetralogi Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata, (b) Cara Menyampaikan Nilai Moral dalam Novel Tetralogi Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, karena data yang diperoleh berupa pernyataan, kalimat, atau kutipan, tidak dalam angka. Data untuk penelitian ini berupa kutipan pernyataan atau kalimat yang mengandung nilai moral dalam novel tetralogi Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata. Sedangkan teknik Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik tekstual, karena Objek penelitian adalah dokumentasi karya sastra yaitu novel Tetralogi Laskar Pelangi oleh Andrea Hirata. Berdasarkan analisis dalam novel tetralogi Laskar Pelangi berisi: nilai moral dan nilai Akhlak tersebut umumnya tidak tersampaikan dalam tema, melainkan dijalin bersama dengan rangkaian cerita dan penyampaian secara tertulis dalam novel Laskar Pelangi. This paper aims to explain how these household problems can be overcome by the presence of figures/kyai as role models who are obeyed. This research is a type of qualitative research using an empirical approach. As a result of this study, it is stated that through Kyai/characters that couples can imitate consists of 3 main things, First, the clarification approach has the aim of understanding the problems and conditions of couples who need a way out, and also invites couples to realize the wisdom in every problem. Second, how a person can be imitated in both his actions and words in life. Third, the internalization of religious morals which starts from advising, awakening and strengthening the religious knowledge of the couples then being asked to enter a room for each individual couple (husband and wife) so that they can reflect on all things related to their lives, then take them to the right path.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to describe religious values through the depiction of icons, indexes, and symbols in Hamzah Fansuri's poem Perahu. This research includes qualitative research that uses descriptive design and semiotic approach. The data used in this study was the poem Perahu by Hamzah Fansuri. The results showed three main aspects of religion, namely aspects of creed, sharia, and morals. The religious value in the aspect of creed is faith in the last days and belief in the eternal afterlife. Religious values in the aspect of sharia are the importance of prayer and remembrance, the call not to neglect worship, and to get closer to Allah in a faithful way. Religious values in moral aspects such as the importance of maintaining good values, good deeds as provisions in the afterlife, and the importance of doing good in order to get rewards in the hereafter.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan nilai religius melalui penggambaran ikon, indeks, dan simbol dalam syair Perahu karya Hamzah Fansuri. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan desain deskriptif dan pendekatan semiotik. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah syair Perahu karya Hamzah Fansuri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga aspek pokok religius, yakni aspek akidah, syariah, dan akhlak. Nilai religius dalam aspek akidah adalah iman kepada hari akhir dan percaya akan kehidupan akhirat yang abadi. Nilai religius dalam aspek syariah adalah pentingnya salat dan berzikir, seruan agar tidak melalaikan ibadah, dan mendekatkan diri kepada Allah dengan cara iktikaf. Nilai religius dalam aspek akhlak seperti pentingnya menjaga nilai-nilai kebaikan, perbuatan baik sebagai bekal di akhirat, dan pentingnya berbuat baik agar mendapat balasan di akhirat.

The results of the study stated that the religious values in the Lapis-Lapis Blessing book have three aspects of life, namely the value of aqidah, the value of worship, and the value of morals. The value of aqidah includes several things, namely faith in Allah SWT, belief in Allah's provisions and faith in apostles. The value of worship includes several things, namely; prayer, dhikr, prayer, and reading of the Qur'an. While the moral values include several things, namely; patient, please help, entertain guests, trust, and giving charity. The implementation of these three aspects requires assistance from parents, schools, and the community so that children can have their religious values embedded from a young age. So the need for deep appreciation when teaching children several things about religious values, one of which is the value of aqidah, worship, and morals.

This study aims to find moral messages contained in the poem “Lastu Mitsla Al-Nȃsi” by Faruq Juwaidah. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with content analysis. Content analysis in literature is an effort to understand literary works from extrinsic aspects, including; moral messages, educational values, philosophical values, religious values ​​and historical values. The approach in this research is a philosophical and religious approach. Based on the results of research on the poem "Lastu Mitsla Al-Nȃsi" by Faruq Juwaidah, a moral message was found, namely how humans should perceive other humans. The message is summarized in several values, namely (1) humans are created equal, (2) humans live in the same world, (3) humans must see other humans objectively, and (4) fellow humans must love one another. This poetry implies that whether we really behave like humans. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pesan-pesan moral yang terdapat dalam puisi “Lastu Mitsla Al-Nȃsi” karya Faruq Juwaidah. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis konten. Analisis konten dalam sastra adalah upaya pemahaman karya sastra dari aspek ekstrinsik, meliputi; pesan moral, nilai pendidikan, nilai filosofis, nilai religius dan nilai kesejarahan. Adapun pendekatan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan filosofis dan religius. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terhadap puisi “Lastu Mitsla Al-Nȃsi” karya Faruq Juwaidah, ditemukan pesan moral, yaitu bagaimana seharusnya manusia memandang manusia lainnya. Pesan tersebut disarikan dalam beberapa nilai, yaitu (1) manusia diciptakan sama, (2) manusia hidup di dunia yang sama, (3) manusia harus melihat manusia lainnya dengan objektif, dan (4) sesama manusia harus saling mengasihi. Puisi ini secara tidak langsung mempertanyakan bahwa apakah kita sudah benar-benar berperilaku layaknya manusia.

Based on this opinion it can be seen that the cultivation of religious and multicultural character values ​​in madrasa ibtidaiyah level students needs to be done in order to realize a future generation of adults and character. On the other hand, the cultivation of multicultural values ​​is also an urgent matter to do.This study aims to find a character education management model based on the integration of religious and multicultural values ​​in MI Banyumas Regency. The research method with research and development methods. The results of the study of the character education management model based on the integration of religious and multicultural values ​​that were developed effectively for use in character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The results of the t test through the paired t test method showed that there were significant differences between the character values ​​before and after the implementation of character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. These results reinforce that character education is effectively used in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Single parents often encounter obstacles in educating children at home. Usually due to lack of knowledge and time because they have to work. This study aims to describe the single parent method in shaping the character of religious children in Karduluk Village, Sumenep and it’s implications. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of field research. Collecting data using interviews and non-participant observation. The data analysis technique consists of 3 stages, namely data condensation, data display, and conclusion/verification. The research findings show that: first, the role of single parents in shaping the religious character of children in Karduluk Village, Sumenep is carried out through 3 synergistic approaches, namely the advice approach, the exemplary approach, and the habituation approach; second, the role of single parents in shaping the religious character of children in Karduluk village, Sumenep has implications for 3 main aspects, namely the aspect of faith in the form of increasing confidence in children in the existence of Allah SWT; aspects of worship in the form of children's religious behavior that can be seen from their daily lives both in terms of mahdhah worship and ghairu mahdhah worship; and moral aspects in the form of children's attitudes and behavior that reflect religious values ​​and teachings.

Abstract tradus Our study proposes to discuss several aspects related to the gladiators attested in the Greek cities of the Pontus Euxinus (Chersones, Histria, Tomis, Callatis, Dionysopolis, Odessos, Byzantion, Sinope, Amisos), such as the names, social status and mentality of these amphitheatre fighters. Our analysis also focuses on the equipment and weapons of the gladiators, their fighting techniques and the various aspects of the organisation of gladiatorial combat. Our research is based on the study of epigraphic and archaeological documents (bas-reliefs). Inscriptions and reliefs attest several types of gladiators, such as retiarius, secutor, scissor, provocator and bestiarius. The names of the gladiators reflect their winning qualities and their physical or moral qualities. Most gladiators were slaves or free men. Documents from Tomis from the 2nd-3rd centuries AD confirm that gladiatorial fights and beast hunts in the amphitheatre are closely linked to the imperial cult. At Tomis, Odessos, Sinope and Amisos, the organisers of these spectacles were at the same time pontarchs and high priests of the imperial cult. Gladiator fights took place in amphitheatres (at Tomis) and other specially designed venues such as theatres (at Odessos). Nemesis and Ares are the patron deities of gladiators.

AbstractMany people face struggles around the religious and spiritual aspects of daily life, as shown by increasingly researches that have been being carried out. The more research develops on these two variables, the more comprehensive, reliable and concise measurement of someone's struggle in term of religion and spirituality through a multiple domain scale are needed. Religious and spiritual struggles occur when some aspects of religious belief, practice or experience become a negative focus so that it is closely related to emotions, concerns, or conflicts. There are six dimensions in religious and spiritual struggles, namely divine, demonic, interpersonal struggle, morality, ultimate meaning, and doubt. The aim of this study is to test the construct validity of Religious and Spiritual Struggles scale. 26 items of the Religious and Spiritual Struggle are tested. 150 college students are participated in this research. By using confirmatory factor analysis and helped by LISREL 8.70 software, the result shows that all dimensions have a fit model and truly measure religious and spiritual struggles even though there is one item in moral dimension that must be dropped. AbstrakBanyak orang mengalami pergulatan seputar aspek religius dan spiritual dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, sebagaimana ditunjukkan oleh penelitian-penelitian yang semakin luas dilakukan. Semakin berkembangnya penelitian terkait dua variabel ini semakin meningkat pula kebutuhan akan pengukuran yang lebih komprehensif, reliabel, dan ringkas tentang perjuangan seseorang dalam hal agama dan spiritualitas melalui skala yang mencakup banyak domain. Religious and spiritual struggles terjadi ketika beberapa aspek kepercayaan, praktik, atau pengalaman religius menjadi fokus negatif sehingga ia terkait erat dengan emosi, kekhawatiran, atau konflik. Terdapat enam dimensi dalam religious and spiritual struggles yaitu divine, demonic, interpersonal struggles, moral, ultimate meaning, dan doubt. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji validitas konstruk dari skala Religious and Spiritual Struggles. Terdapat 26 item dalam skala ini. Responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 150 mahasiswa. Metode analisis faktor yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah CFA (confirmatory factor analysis) dengan bantuan perangkat lunak LISREL 8.70. Hasilnya, seluruh dimensi memiliki model yang fit dan benar-benar mengukur religious and spiritual struggles meskipun ada satu item pada dimensi moral yang harus di drop.

This study aims to reveal the form of ulama leadership in South Kalimantan during the Covid-19 conditions. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The data is taken from some information posted on trusted websites. The results showed that ulama in South Kalimantan practiced transformational religious leadership in society. Ulama in the context of this research are ulama in South Kalimantan who often get the spotlight from the public. With the interaction of scholars on leadership, the leadership is modeled on religious leadership. Religious leadership offers religious, theological, moral, ethical, and spiritual guidance on most aspects of the daily life of Muslims. Keywords: leadership, ulama, the covid-19 pandemic. Anderson argues that Javanese relativism should not be understood as the tolerance toward public differences by ignoring races, colors, and beliefs. In fact, Javanese relativism does not bring any effect on other ethical groups in Indonesia. Therefore, the idea of openness and tolerance which has been admired from Javanese value is just like chauvinism cultural terminology. Javanese cultural behavior still becomes a mystery as its practice of tolerance measured by the wish and propinquity to its culture. The term of tolerance which becomes a pride and an ideology for Javanese people, in fact, shows the opposite situation as the practices of religiousness are still measured by social hierarchy. This character is inseparable from what is called a rigid religious mythology. The article describes in a concise manner the origin and development of anthropology of religion in the global scale and its beginnings in Kyrgyzstan. Three periods of Kyrgyzstan’s history are represented in the research: the pre-revolution era, the Soviet and the contemporary times. An emphasis was put on the unique challenges that each of these periods poses to religious studies. The article analyses one of the major aspects of anthropology of religion – searching for cultural relics of the ancient cults in the contemporary religious trends. The author presents the research methodology that was used while studying religious cults in Kyrgyzstan in the framework of anthropology of religion. The relevance of this paper lies in the fact that interdisciplinary anthropological research on the variety of religious life in different historical periods helps to better understand the history of the peoples of the Kyrgyzstan and their cooperation, as well as to identify the moral values and ideological framework for the contemporary society of Kyrgyzstan.

AbstractShortly after a push to promote China's 1950 Marriage Law in 1953, scholars from the Chinese Music Research Institute on a collection trip to a small locality in northern China encountered a large number of folksongs about extramarital affairs. They interpreted this as evidence of the need for marriage reform. The folksong lyrics highlighted controversial aspects of the Marriage Law by espousing one of the law's central tenets – free love – while also expressing women's desires to leave their husbands. In this article, I explore how the researchers placed the song lyrics in a liminal moral-temporal category between “feudal” arranged marriage and the new marriage system before declaring the songs to be relics of the victimization of women in a “feudal” past. I argue that additional light-hearted elements complicate the researchers’ conclusion and suggest that when the promotion of social agendas in the 1940s and 1950s cast songs about illicit affairs as morally ambiguous, Chinese scholars chose to ascribe the songs’ “roots” to other groups or to the “feudal” past of the people they sought to praise and/or transform.

Even though Hasan Langgulung was an Indonesian Islamic thinker who lived in the 20th century and had a different point of view from Habermas's thinking which came from the Frankfurt School, this comparison will try to explore several key elements in these two educational concepts. This research will analyze the concepts of both that are relevant to education, looking for points of similarity in their views regarding the comparison of objectives, curriculum, PBM, teachers, evaluation and educational environment. Hasan Langgung: The aim of Hasan Langgung's education is to form individuals who have noble, religious character and have a deep understanding of religious values. Psychology and religion-based education aims to develop individual character and morals and prepare them to achieve deeper spiritual understanding. Habermas (Frankfurt School): The goal of education in Frankfurt School thought, including Habermas, is to create a more just and democratic society by developing critical thinking skills, political participation, and awareness of social structures. This goal aims to achieve liberation from the domination of capitalist ideology.

Most participants in the current free will debate do not believe that the thesis of physical determinism is true in the actual world. Regardless of this fact, compatibilists keep argu­ing that free will is compatible with physical determinism, and incompatibilists keep challenging this claim. In the first and second section of this paper, I show that the com­patibility of free will with physical determinism is mainly discussed as a means to clarify what the criteria of free will and moral responsibility are. Many naturalistically minded libertarians accept the same criteria of free and morally responsible action as many com­patibilists do, but they introduce an additional criterion of indeterminism. In the last three sections, I question the moral implications of this additional criterion. In the third section, I propose a thought experiment in which agents meeting the incompatibilist criteria of freedom (IC-agents) and agents meeting the compatibilist criteria of freedom (CC-agents) live in the same possible world. If libertarians are right that an agent’s moral status depends on whether that agent meets the additional incompatibilist criterion of indeter­minism, then our treatment of IC- and CC-agents in that world should be sensitive to the moral difference between these two types of agents. However, at least in some cir­cumstances this is not the case, as I demonstrate with the example of two moral dilemmas in sections four and five. I conclude that the assumption about the different moral status of CC- and IC-agents is not supported by our moral intuitions, and thus cannot be as­serted by incompatibilists as a self-evident truth, but requires further justification.

The results of linear regression analysis indicated that moral stress was determined to a degree by the work place’s moral climate as well as by two aspects of the mental health staff’s moral sensitivity. The nurses’ experience of ‘moral burden’ or ‘moral support’ increased or decreased their experience of moral stress. Their work-related moral stress was determined by the job-associated moral climate and two aspects of moral sensitivity. Our findings showed an association between three concepts: moral sensitivity, moral climate and moral stress. Despite being a small study, the findings seem relevant for future research leading to theory development and conceptual clarity. We suggest that more attention be given to methodological issues and developing designs that allow for comparative research in other disciplines, as well as in-depth knowledge of moral agency.

Moral education is one of the forms of moral inheritance in society. In the perception of modern society moral is a synonym of ethics. Thus, the term «moral education» means the process of the purposeful forming of child moral values and reinforcement the habit complex which is proper to the norms and moral accepted in a society. Nowadays, when the standards of legal cruelty are widely presented in mass media, entertaining programs and computer games which children are involved in since their preschool age, moral education of young people claims special attention. In the present paper the problem of schoolchildren moral development and socialization is considered. Taking into account current pedagogical conditions various approaches to the issue particularly the ways of the modern youth psychological impact efficiency improvement have been analyzed. The results of the conducted research show the need for higher school children socialization level since it’s the basis of the personality development. The importance of innovative pedagogical achievements use in the course of young people moral education is stressed. Moral education is one of the forms of inheritance of morality in society. A moral is in understanding of modern society, is the synonym of ethics. Thus, under moral education it is possible to understand the process of the purposeful forming for the child of the moral settings, and also fixing of habits of conduct, proper to the norms and moral, accepted in society. Presently, when the standards of legal cruelty with people are widely presented in mass medias, entertaining transmissions and films, and also in computer games which children master from preschool age, moral education of children must spare the special attention.

This research objective is to test the validity and reliability of moral development instruments on junior high school students. The moral development instrument for junior high school students was developed based on three aspects of moral development: moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. This research sample involves 172 students at Junior High School “X” in Magelang City, Indonesia ranging from 12 to 15 years of age. The total items developed from the three aspects are 152 items consisting of 60 items of moral knowing, 62 items of moral feeling, and 30 items of moral action. The items analysis was calculated using the product moment correlation technique and corrected item-total correlation technique. This research result indicates that the moral development instrument is valid with the score of rcount&gt;rtable and stated reliable with Cronbach alpha score of moral knowing is 0.876, moral feeling is 0.886, and moral action is 0.830. The validity and reliability test result shows that the moral development instrument for students is feasible to use. Moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action can reflect students' moral development.

Law and morality are integral and important components of modern society and play an important role in regulating relations within it. Norms of law and morality are closely intertwined in the process of social regulation, which determines the mutual influence on the essential content of each of them. The interaction of the two categories is reflected in the fact that the law contributes to the realization of moral principles in the minds of all members of society, in turn, under the influence of moral requirements, the law is constantly improved and increases its role as a social regulator of social relations. In addition, the interaction of morality and law is manifested in the fact that today both the national law of most states of the world and international law use such well-known principles as humanism, justice, equality, integrity, which are a reflection of the influence of moral principles on the formation of law in general. In other words, legal norms, in order to ensure the effectiveness of their action, respond to the moral requirements of modern society, reflecting them in their content. It is no less important to pay attention to the implementation of moral aspects in the formulation of legal obligations incumbent on citizens, since the level of their implementation and compliance directly depends on the level of implementation of moral principles and values prevailing in society. Regarding the moral aspects of duty as a value, it is worth noting that the process of formation of a legal duty was closely related to the precepts of morality, which was also reflected in the modern interpretation of duties. That is why we consider it expedient to investigate legal duty as a value for the presence of moral aspects in it and the importance of moral aspects in modern legal duty.

As a result of the study, the structure of religious morality including the following categories was distinguished: basis of moral functioning, moral attitude toward conflict situations, moral attitude toward experienced dissonances, and reference to the principle of moral autonomy. For the basis of moral functioning, the following subcategories were identified: Self, others, religion, consequences. For the moral attitude to conflict situations, the subcategories were: task-oriented, avoidant, emotional, religious. For the moral attitude toward experienced dissonances, the categories were: informational-religious, normative, avoidant, conflictual. With respect to the principle of moral autonomy, these were: congruence and incongruence. The participants of the study were 120 people of the Catholic faith, 60 each in middle and late adulthood. A Piagetian exploratory-critical interview was used, the design of which was based on Walesa's model of religiosity. The frequency of specific subcategories of religious morality was significantly differentiated by the age of the subjects for the basis of moral functioning, moral attitude toward conflict situations, and moral attitude toward experienced dissonance. In late adulthood, religiosity serves an important function - especially in situations of conflict or events related to experienced moral dissonances.

However, there is a paucity of studies exploring these topics among baccalaureate nursing students. Aim/objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between and among moral distress, moral sensitivity, and moral courage of undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students. Research design: The research employed a descriptive-correlational design to explore the relationships between and among moral distress, moral sensitivity, and moral courage of undergraduate nursing students. Participants and research context: A total of 293 baccalaureate Filipino nursing students who have been exposed to various clinical areas participated in the study. Ethical considerations: Institutional review board approval was sought prior to the conduct of the study. Self-determination was assured and anonymity and confidentiality were guaranteed to all participants. Findings: Results indicate that a majority of the nursing students in the clinical areas encounter morally distressing situations that compromise quality patient care. However, despite the fact that they want to do what is in the best interest of their patients, their perception of being the inexperienced among the healthcare team drives the majority of them to ignore morally distressing situations to avoid conflict and confrontation. Another interesting finding is that 79.20% of the respondents hardly consider quitting the nursing profession even if they frequently encounter morally distressing situations. Analysis also shows associations between moral distress intensity and frequency ( r = 0.13, p < 0.05) and moral distress intensity and moral sensitivity ( r = 0.25, p < 0.05). The dimensions of moral courage are also related to both moral distress and moral sensitivity. Conclusion: Results of the study imply that moral distress is a reality among all healthcare professionals including nursing students and requires more consideration by nurse educators.

Moral distress forms a major threat to the well-being of healthcare professionals, and is argued to negatively impact patient care. It is associated with emotions such as anger, frustration, guilt, and anxiety. In order to effectively deal with moral distress, the concept of moral resilience is introduced as the positive capacity of an individual to sustain or restore their integrity in response to moral adversity. Interventions are needed that foster moral resilience among healthcare professionals. Ethics consultation has been proposed as such an intervention. In this paper, we add to this proposition by discussing Moral Case Deliberation (MCD) as a specific form of clinical ethics support that promotes moral resilience. We argue that MCD in general may contribute to the moral resilience of healthcare professionals as it promotes moral agency. In addition, we focus on three specific MCD reflection methods: the Dilemma Method, the Aristotelian moral inquiry into emotions, and CURA, a method consisting of four main steps: Concentrate, Unrush, Reflect, and Act. In practice, all three methods are used by nurse ethicists or by nurses who received training to facilitate reflection sessions with these methods. We maintain that these methods also have specific elements that promote moral resilience. However, the Dilemma Method fosters dealing well with tragedy, the latter two promote moral resilience by including attention to emotions as part of the reflection process. We will end with discussing the importance of future empirical research on the impact of MCD on moral resilience, and of comparing MCD with other interventions that seek to mitigate moral distress and promote moral resilience.

The aim of the study was to examine whether moral foundations mediate the negative relation between moral competence and orthodox/conservative religiosity. The participants (N = 361, aged 16 to 74) completed the Moral Judgment Test (Lind, 1978, 2008), the 30-Item Full Version of the Moral Foundations Questionnaire (Graham, Haidt &amp; Nosek, 2008), and Huber's (Huber, 2004) Religion’s Centrality Scale. Mediation analysis revealed that the ‘binding’ moral foundations of in-group loyalty, respect for authority, and purity mediate the negative relation between moral competence and orthodox religiosity. These results are in line with Lind’s theoretical prediction that if individuals have more criteria to consider when making moral judgment, it may hamper their performance on moral competence measures, which are typically based on the individual foundations of harm avoidance and justice. The study contributes to understanding differences in social cognition between liberal and conservative religiosity.
