Abstract. The quality of the calibrated radiances of the medium-resolution Imaging Infrared Radiometer (IIR) on-board the CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation) satellite is quantitatively evaluated from the beginning of the mission in June 2006. Two complementary relative and stand-alone approaches are used, which are related to comparisons of measured brightness temperatures and to model-to-observations comparisons, respectively. In both cases, IIR channels 1 (8.65 µm), 2 (10.6 µm), and 3 (12.05 µm) are paired with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)/Aqua Collection 5 companion channels 29, 31, and 32, respectively, as well as with the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager (SEVIRI)/Meteosat companion channels IR8.7, IR10.8, and IR12, respectively. These pairs were selected before launch to meet radiometric, geometric, and space-time constraints. The prelaunch studies were based on simulations and sensitivity studies using the 4A/OP radiative transfer model and the more than 2300 atmospheres of the climatological Thermodynamic Initial Guess Retrieval (TIGR) input dataset further sorted into five air mass types. Using data from over 9.5 years of on-orbit operation, and following the relative approach technique, collocated measurements of IIR and of its companion channels have been compared at all latitudes over ocean, during day and night, and for all types of scenes in a wide range of brightness temperatures. The relative approach shows an excellent stability of IIR2–MODIS31 and IIR3–MODIS32 brightness temperature differences (BTDs) since launch. A slight trend within the IIR1–MODIS29 BTD, that equals −0.02 K yr−1 on average over 9.5 years, is detected when using the relative approach at all latitudes and all scene temperatures. For very cold scene temperatures (190–200 K) in the tropics, each IIR channel is warmer than its MODIS companion channel by 1.6 K on average. For the stand-alone approach, clear sky measurements only are considered, which are directly compared with simulations using 4A/OP and collocated ERA-Interim (ERA-I) reanalyses. The clear sky mask is derived from collocated observations from IIR and the CALIPSO lidar. Simulations for clear sky pixels in the tropics reproduce the differences between IIR1 and MODIS29 within 0.02 K and between IIR2 and MODIS31 within 0.04 K, whereas IIR3–MODIS32 is larger than simulated by 0.26 K. The stand-alone approach indicates that the trend identified from the relative approach originates from MODIS29, whereas no trend (less than ±0.004 K yr−1) is identified for any of the IIR channels. Finally, using the relative approach, a year-by-year seasonal bias between nighttime and daytime IIR–MODIS BTD was found at mid-latitude in the Northern Hemisphere. It is due to a nighttime IIR bias as determined by the stand-alone approach, which originates from a calibration drift during day-to-night transitions. The largest bias is in June and July when IIR2 and IIR3 are warmer by 0.4 K on average, and IIR1 is warmer by 0.2 K.

Abstract. Version 2 of the Level 1b calibrated radiances of the Imaging Infrared Radiometer (IIR) on board the Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Satellite Observation (CALIPSO) satellite has been released recently. This new version incorporates corrections of small but systematic seasonal calibration biases previously revealed in Version 1 data products mostly north of 30∘ N. These biases – of different amplitudes in the three IIR channels 8.65 µm (IIR1), 10.6 µm (IIR2), and 12.05 µm (IIR3) – were made apparent by a striping effect in images of IIR inter-channel brightness temperature differences (BTDs) and through seasonal warm biases of nighttime IIR brightness temperatures in the 30–60∘ N latitude range. The latter were highlighted through observed and simulated comparisons with similar channels of the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Aqua spacecraft. To characterize the calibration biases affecting Version 1 data, a semi-empirical approach is developed, which is based on the in-depth analysis of the IIR internal calibration procedure in conjunction with observations such as statistical comparisons with similar MODIS/Aqua channels. Two types of calibration biases are revealed: an equalization bias affecting part of the individual IIR images and a global bias affecting the radiometric level of each image. These biases are observed only when the temperature of the instrument increases, and they are found to be functions of elapsed time since night-to-day transition, regardless of the season. Correction coefficients of Version 1 radiances could thus be defined and implemented in the Version 2 code. As a result, the striping effect seen in Version 1 is significantly attenuated in Version 2. Systematic discrepancies between nighttime and daytime IIR–MODIS BTDs in the 30–60∘ N latitude range in summer are reduced from 0.2 K in Version 1 to 0.1 K in Version 2 for IIR1–MODIS29. For IIR2–MODIS31 and IIR3–MODIS32, they are reduced from 0.4 K to close to zero, except for IIR3–MODIS32 in June, where the night-minus-day difference is around −0.1 K.

En este artículo hemos procedido al estudio de las distintas modistas al servicio de la reina María Luisa de Parma. Uno de los factores que tendrán una gran importancia en el Real Guardarropa de la soberana es la inserción de los primeros modistas, que no solo confeccionaban vestidos sino también accesorios textiles como cinturones, prendidos, bandas, bolsas, etc. Esta serie de creadoras no solo confeccionaban vestidos para la soberana, sino que son proveedoras de prendas y tejidos para la familia real. Entre las modistass más relevantes encontramos a Rose Bertin, siendo modista de la reina María Antonieta y de María Luisa, además de Maria Moulinier y Darguins, Ana Launay y el primer modista masculino, Joseph Martin, el cual primero realiza prendidos para la reina y posteriormente vestidos de corte. A través del trabajo de la documentación inédita consultada en los archivos, conocemos que las labores de las modistas, ya no se desarrollan en el anonimato, sino que sus trabajos comienzan a valorarse como una creación que revela gran inventiva y conocimientos matemáticos, de geometría y de costura. A partir del siglo XIX, la figura de modista estará completamente establecida como uno de los oficios más importantes en la industria textil.

El presente artículo aborda las prácticas de consumo de indumentaria femenina que llevaron adelante diferentes mujeres en la ciudad de Buenos Aires a mediados de siglo XIX. Se ocupa de distinguir el modo en el que la vestimenta cargó consigo marcas de desigualdad social y subalternización en donde relaciones de clase, raza y género aparecieron entrelazadas. A su vez, argumenta que la difusión de un ideal de elegancia a la última moda francesa, hizo posibles experiencias de trabajo y de administración de establecimientos de modista por parte de artesanas europeas. Detrás de aquellas fachadas, este escrito busca reconstruir los servicios ofrecidos, el cotidiano laboral, arreglos de empleo y la pervivencia de procesos de aprendizaje del oficio abiertos a niñas. Al prestar atención a ciertas trayectorias de modistas a través del tiempo, muestro la continuidad de algunos de estos establecimientos a lo largo de más de dos décadas. Haze pollution has frequently occurred in winter over Eastern China in recent years. Over Eastern China, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) cloud detection data were compared with the Cloud–Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization (CALIOP) for three years (2013–2016) for three kinds of underlying surface types (dark, bright, and water). We found that MODIS and CALIOP agree most of the time (82% on average), but discrepancies occurred at low CALIOP cloud optical thickness (COT < 0.4) and low MODIS cloud top height (CTH < 1.5 km). In spring and summer, the CALIOP cloud fraction was higher by more than 0.1 than MODIS due to MODIS’s incapability of observing clouds with a lower COT. The discrepancy increased significantly with a decrease in MODIS CTH and an increase in aerosol optical depth (AOD, about 2–4 times), and MODIS observed more clouds that were undetected by CALIOP over PM2.5 > 75 μg m−3 regions in autumn and particularly in winter, suggesting that polluted weather over Eastern China may contaminate MODIS cloud detections because MODIS will misclassify a heavy aerosol layer as cloudy under intense haze conditions. Besides aerosols, the high solar zenith angle (SZA) in winter also affects MODIS cloud detection, and the ratio of MODIS cloud pixel numbers to CALIOP cloud-free pixel numbers at a high SZA increased a great deal (about 4–21 times) relative to that at low SZA for the three surfaces. As a result of the effects of aerosol and SZA, MODIS cloud fraction was 0.08 higher than CALIOP, and MODIS CTH was more than 2 km lower than CALIOP CTH in winter. As for the cloud phases and types, the results showed that most of the discrepancies could be attributed to water clouds and low clouds (cumulus and stratocumulus), which is consistent with most of the discrepancies at low MODIS CTH.

The aim of this study was to compare the available tools in R for downloading and processing Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data, specifically the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) product. The R tools evaluated were the MODIS package, RGISTools, MODISTools, R Google Earth Engine (RGEE) package, MODIStsp, and the Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS) application. Each tool was used to download the same product (EVI) corresponding to the same day (3 December 2015), and downloaded data were used to analyze the urban growth of Tarija (Bolivia) as an interesting application. The following features were analyzed: download time and memory used during the download, additional post-processing time, local memory occupied on the computer, and downloaded file formats. Results showed that the most efficient R tools were those that work directly in the “cloud” or use text queries (RGEE and AppEEARS, respectively) and provide, as a final product, a cropped.tif image according to the area of interest.

Abstract. This paper aims at helping synergistic studies in combining data from different satellites for gaining new insights into two critical yet poorly understood aspects of anthropogenic climate change, aerosol-cloud interactions and aerosol radiative effects. In particular, the paper examines the way cloud information from the MODIS imager can refine our perceptions based on CALIOP lidar measurements about the systematic aerosol changes that occur near clouds. The statistical analysis of a yearlong dataset of co-located global maritime observations from the Aqua and CALIPSO satellites reveals that MODIS's multispectral imaging ability can greatly help the interpretation of CALIOP observations. The results show that imagers on Aqua and CALIPSO yield very similar pictures, and that the discrepancies – due mainly to wind drift and differences in view angle – do not significantly hinder aerosol measurements near clouds. By detecting clouds outside the CALIOP track, MODIS reveals that clouds are usually closer to clear areas than CALIOP data alone would suggest. The paper finds statistical relationships between the distances to clouds in MODIS and CALIOP data, and proposes a rescaling approach to statistically account for the impact of clouds outside the CALIOP track even when MODIS cannot reliably detect low clouds, for example at night or over sea ice. Finally, the results show that the typical distance to clouds depends on both cloud coverage and cloud type, and accordingly varies with location and season. The global median distance to clouds in maritime clear-sky areas is in the 4–5 km range.

The present study develops ArcMap models to implement the following three methods: FAO-56 Penman–Monteith (FAO PM), Hargreaves–Samani (HS) and Hansen, with the former used as a reference. Moreover, three models implementing statistical indices (RMSD, MB, NMB) are also created. The purpose is threefold, as follows: to investigate the variability in the daily mean reference evapotranspiration (ETo) for the Decembers and Augusts during 2016–2019, over Peloponnese, Greece. Furthermore, to investigate the agreement between the methods’ ETo estimates, and examine the former along with MODIS ET (daily) averaged products. The study area is a complex Mediterranean area. Meteorological data from sixty-two stations under the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), and MODIS Terra LST products, have been employed. FAO PM is found sensitive to wind speed and depicts interactions among climate parameters (T, evaporative demand and water availability) in the frame of climate change. The years 2016–2019 are four of the warmest since the preindustrial era. Hargreaves–Samani’s estimations for the Decembers of 2016–2019 were almost identical to MODIS ET, despite their different physical meaning. However, for the Augusts there are considerable discrepancies between the methods’ and MODIS’s estimates, attributed to the higher evaporative demand in the summertime. The GIS models are accurate, reliable, time-saving, and adjustable to any study area.

Comparing cloud cover (CC) products from different satellites with the same ground-based CC dataset provides information on the similarities or differences of values among satellite products. For this reason, 42-month CC products from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer’s (MODIS) Collection 6.1 daily cloud cover products (MOD06_L2, MYD06_L2, MOD08_D3, and MYD08_D3) and Himawari-8 are compared with the ground-based camera datasets. The comparison shows that CC from MODIS differs from ground measurement CC by as much as 57% over Chiba, Japan, when low CC is observed by the camera. This indicates MODIS’s ability to capture high-level clouds that are not effectively seen from the ground. When the camera detects high CC, an indication of the presence of low-level clouds, CC from MODIS is relatively higher than the CC from the camera. In the case of Himawari-8 data, when the camera observes low CC, this difference is around 0.7%. This result indicates that high-level clouds are not effectively observed, but the Himawari-8 data correlates well with camera observations. When the camera observes high CC, Himawari-8-derived CC is lower by around 10% than CC from the camera. These results show the potential of continuous observations of nighttime clouds using the camera to provide a dataset that can be used for intercomparison among nighttime satellite CC products.

There are many basic human needs, one of the most important is clothing. In meeting these clothing needs, in general, someone will make it or order it through fashion services. In the past, modiste managed orders armed with books or notes that were easy to lose and forget. Usually making an order form is still in the form of a manual, but the development of Android technology it will make it easier to store consumer data. With the Android-based modiste order form application, there are various advantages, including a fashion business that makes it easy to receive orders quickly anywhere, and anytime. This research is quantitative descriptive research. This research has the main objective to determine the response of the Fashion Design education students to the implementation of the Android-based fashion order form. There are 120 undergraduate students of Fashion Design Education at the State University of Malang who have taken the MUB Modiste course. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The validity test was carried out on students other than research respondents as many as 30 students. The results of this research indicate that in general, the implementation of the order mode form is very significant and suitable. Among all response indicators which include a) sensory response; b) response according to occurrence; c) response to views; d) response to function; e) the response to the way of working states a positive result. It is hoped that the Android-based modiste order form application can be developed so that fashion businesses can download it on the play store and can be commercialized. Kebutuhan dasar manusia ada beraneka ragam, salah satu yang paling utama adalah busana. Dalam memenuhi kebutuhan busana tersebut, pada umumnya seseorang akan membuatnya atau memesan melalui jasa modiste. Dulu modiste melakukan pengelolaan pesanan dengan berbekal buku atau catatan yang mudah hilang dan lupa. Biasanya pembuatan form order masih dalam bentuk buku manual, namun dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi Android akan mempermudah dalam penyimpanan data konsumen. Dengan adanya aplikasi form order modiste berbasis Android, terdapat berbagai kelebihan antara lain suatu usaha modiste termudahkan menerima order secara cepat dimana saja dan kapan saja. Riset ini merupakan riset deskriptif kuantitatif. riset ini memiliki tujuan utama untuk mengetahui respon mahasiswa pendidikan Tata Busana terhadap implementasi form order modiste berbasis Android. Mahasiswa S1 Pendidikan Tata Busana Universitas Negeri Malang yang sudah menempuh mata kuliah MUB Modiste, berjumlah 120 orang menjadi subjek riset ini. Instrumen riset berupa kuesioner. Uji validitas dilaksanakan pada mahasiswa selain responden riset sebanyak 30 mahasiswa. Hasil dari riset ini menunjukkan bahwa secara umum implementasi form order modiste sangat signifikan dan cocok. Diantara semua indikator respon yang meliputi a) respon menurut indera; b) respon menurut terjadinya; c) respon terhadap tampilan; d) respon terhadap fungsi; e) respon terhadap cara kerja menyatakan hasil yang positif. Diharapkan aplikasi form order modiste berbasis Android dapat dikembangkan sehingga pelaku usaha modiste dapat mengunduh di play store dan dapat dikomersilkan.

This paper aims at helping synergistic studies in combining data from different satellites for gaining new insights into two critical yet poorly understood aspects of anthropogenic climate change, aerosol-cloud interactions and aerosol radiative effects. In particular, the paper examines the way cloud information from the MODIS (MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) imager can refine our perceptions based on CALIOP (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization) lidar measurements about the systematic aerosol changes that occur near clouds. The statistical analysis of a yearlong dataset of co-located global maritime observations from the Aqua and CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation) satellites reveals that MODIS's multispectral imaging ability can greatly help the interpretation of CALIOP observations. The results show that imagers on Aqua and CALIPSO yield very similar pictures, and that the discrepancies – due mainly to wind drift and differences in view angle – do not significantly hinder aerosol measurements near clouds. By detecting clouds outside the CALIOP track, MODIS reveals that clouds are usually closer to clear areas than CALIOP data alone would suggest. The paper finds statistical relationships between the distances to clouds in MODIS and CALIOP data, and proposes a rescaling approach to statistically account for the impact of clouds outside the CALIOP track even when MODIS cannot reliably detect low clouds, for example at night or over sea ice. Finally, the results show that the typical distance to clouds depends on both cloud coverage and cloud type, and accordingly varies with location and season. In maritime areas perceived cloud free, the global median distance to clouds below 3 km altitude is in the 4–5 km range.

This study aims to improve the standard water balance evapotranspiration (WB ET) estimate, which is typically used as benchmark data for catchment-scale ET estimation, by accounting for net intercatchment groundwater flow in the ET calculation. Using the modified WB ET approach, we examine errors and shortcomings associated with the long-term annual mean (2002–2014) spatial patterns of three remote-sensing (RS) MODIS-based ET products from MODIS16, PML_V2, and TSEB algorithms at 1 km spatial resolution over Denmark, as a test case for small-scale, energy-limited regions. Our results indicate that the novel approach of adding groundwater net in water balance ET calculation results in a more trustworthy ET spatial pattern. This is especially relevant for smaller catchments where groundwater net can be a significant component of the catchment water balance. Nevertheless, large discrepancies are observed both amongst RS ET datasets and compared to modified water balance ET spatial pattern at the national scale; however, catchment-scale analysis highlights that difference in RS ET and WB ET decreases with increasing catchment size and that 90%, 87%, and 93% of all catchments have ∆ET < ±150 mm/year for MODIS16, PML_V2, and TSEB, respectively. In addition, Copula approach captures a nonlinear structure of the joint relationship with multiple densities amongst the RS/WB ET products, showing a complex dependence structure (correlation); however, among the three RS ET datasets, MODIS16 ET shows a closer spatial pattern to the modified WB ET, as identified by a principal component analysis also. This study will help improve the water balance approach by the addition of groundwater net in the ET estimation and contribute to better understand the true correlations amongst RS/WB ET products especially over energy-limited environments.

The first geostationary ocean color satellite mission (geostationary ocean color imager, or GOCI) has provided eight hourly observations per day over the western Pacific region since June 2010. GOCI imagery has been widely used to track the short-term dynamics of coastal and inland waters. Few studies have been performed to comprehensively assess the advantages of GOCI images in obtaining valid observations and estimating diurnal changes within the water column. Using the entire mission dataset between 2011 and 2017, these knowledge gaps were filled by comparing the daily percentages of valid observations (DPVOs) between GOCI and MODIS Aqua (MODISA) and by examining the diurnal changes in Chl-a over the East China Sea. The mean DPVOs of GOCI was 152.6% over the clear open ocean, suggesting that a daily valid coverage could be expected with GOCI. The GOCI DPVOs were ~26 times greater than the MODISA DPVOs; this pronounced difference was caused by the combined effects of their different observational frequencies and the more conservative quality flag system for MODISA. Diurnal changes in the GOCI-derived Chl-a were also found, with generally higher Chl-a in the afternoon than the morning and pronounced heterogeneities in the temporal and spatial domains. However, whether such diurnal changes are due to the real dynamics of the oceanic waters or artifacts of the satellite retrievals remains to be determined. This study provides the first comprehensive quantification of the unparalleled advantages of geostationary ocean color missions over polar orbiters, and the results highlights the importance of geostationary ocean color missions in studying coastal and inland waters.

AbstractFor passive satellite imagers, current retrievals of cloud optical thickness and effective particle size fail for convective clouds with 3D morphology. Indeed, being based on 1D radiative transfer (RT) theory, they work well only for horizontally homogeneous clouds. A promising approach for treating clouds as fully 3D objects is cloud tomography, which has been demonstrated for airborne observations. However, more efficient forward 3D RT solvers are required for cloud tomography from space. Here, we present a path forward by acknowledging that optically thick clouds have “veiled cores” (VCs). Sunlight scattered into and out of this deep region does not contribute significant information about the inner structure of the cloud to the spatially detailed imagery. We investigate the VC location for the MISR and MODIS imagers. While MISR provides multiangle imagery in the visible and near-infrared (IR), MODIS includes channels in the shortwave IR, albeit at a single view angle. This combination will enable future 3D retrievals to disentangle the cloud’s effective particle size and extinction fields. We find that, in practice, the VC is located at an optical distance of ~5, starting from the cloud boundary along the line of sight. For MODIS’s absorbing wavelengths the VC covers a larger volume, starting at smaller optical distances. This concept will not only lead to a reduction in the number of unknowns for the tomographic reconstruction but also significantly increase the speed and efficiency of the 3D RT solver at the heart of the algorithm by applying, say, the photon diffusion approximation inside the VC.

Abstract. A new methodology was developed for obtaining daily retrievals of the direct radiative forcing of aerosols (24h-DARF) at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) using satellite remote sensing. For that, simultaneous CERES (Clouds and Earth's Radiant Energy System) shortwave flux at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) and MODIS (Moderate Resolution Spectroradiometer) aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrievals were used. This methodology is applied over a large region of Brazilian Amazonia. We focused our studies on the peak of the biomass burning season (August to September) from 2000 to 2009 to analyse the impact of forest smoke on the radiation balance. To assess the spatial distribution of the DARF, background scenes without biomass burning impacts, were defined as scenes with MODIS AOD < 0.1. The fluxes at the TOA retrieved by CERES for those clean conditions (Fcl) were estimated as a function of the illumination geometry (θ0) for each 0.5° × 0.5° grid cell. The instantaneous DARF was obtained as the difference between clean Fcl (θ0) and the polluted mean flux at the TOA measured by CERES in each cell (Fpol (θ0)). The radiative transfer code SBDART (Santa Barbara DISORT Radiative Transfer model) was used to expand instantaneous DARFs to 24 h averages. With this methodology it is possible to assess the DARF both at large scale and at high temporal resolution. This new methodology also showed to be more robust, because it considerably reduces statistical sources of uncertainties in the estimates of the DARF, when compared to previous assessments of the DARF using satellite remote sensing. The spatial distribution of the 24h-DARF shows that, for some cases, the mean 24h-DARF presents local values as high as −30 W m−2. The temporal variability of the 24h-DARF along the biomass burning season was also studied and showed large intraseasonal and interannual variability. In an attempt to validate the radiative forcing obtained in this work using CERES and MODIS, those results were compared to coincident AERONET ground based estimates of the DARF. This analysis showed that CERES-MODIS and AERONET 24h-DARF are related as DARFCERES-MODIS24 h = (1.07 ± 0.04)DARFAERONET24 h −(0.0 ± 0.6). This is a significant result, considering that the 24h-DARF retrievals were obtained by applying completely different methodologies, and using different instruments. The instantaneous CERES-MODIS DARF was also compared with radiative transfer evaluations of the forcing. To validate the aerosol and surface models used in the simulations, downward shortwave fluxes at the surface evaluated using SBDART and measured by pyranometers were compared. The simulated and measured downward fluxes are related through FBOAPYRANOMETER = (1.00 ± 0.04)FBOASBDART −(20 ± 27), indicating that the models and parameters used in the simulations were consistent. The relationship between CERES-MODIS instantaneous DARF and calculated SBDART forcing was satisfactory, with DARFCERES-MODIS = (0.86 ± 0.06)DARFSBDART −(6 ± 2). Those analysis showed a good agreement between satellite remote sensing, ground-based and radiative transfer evaluated DARF, demonstrating the robustness of the new proposed methodology for calculated radiative forcing for biomass burning aerosols. To our knowledge, this was the first time satellite remote sensing assessments of the DARF were compared with ground based DARF estimates.

Karanganyar Public Health Center is one of the health centers which has toddlers under the red line and the highest malnutrition cases in Pekalongan Regency.The purpose of this research was to know the difference of the effectiveness of red beans modisco ice cream and Moringa Oleifera modisco ice cream in regard of increasing body weight of toddlers under the red line in Karanganyar Public Health Center, Pekalongan.This research used pre experimental design with one group pretest posttest design. The writer used purposive sampling technique that resulted in 28 toddlers under the red line; 14 toddlers were given red bean modisco ice cream and 14 others were given Moringa Oleifera modisco ice cream. Red beans modisco ice cream and Moringa Oleifera modisco ice cream were given for 14 days as much as 100 gr. A daily monitoring checklist of modisco ice cream given to toddlers was used as the instrument of this research.The results of this research showed that the difference body weight pre- post given red bean modisco ice cream (0,21%), while in moringa oleifera modisco ice cream (0,56%). Based on Mann Whitney test showed that moringa oleifera modisco ice cream more effective to increased the body weight of toddlers with p value 0,000 (p value 0.05). According to the results, parents and community were able to modify additional foods which made from modisco and moringa oleifera to increased the body weight of toddlers.

This study aims to know the effect of the training to the mother knowledge in making PMT modisco, the training was done by using lecture and demonstration method. The research design used is pre-experimental by using one group pretest and posttes method. The data for knowledge used questionnaire while the data. The samples in this study were all of the mothers who have Bawah Garis Merah (BGM) children in the village of Tanjungrejo Sub-district of Sukun District of Malang that were 11 people. The result is knowledge data using paired samplet t-test that obtained the score of Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is the effectiveness of training to the mothers’ knowledge related to PMT modisco. The procedure of making module PMT is not too difficult, there are three basic ingredients modisco in training abbreviated with milk, sugar, and margarine (SGM). Being underweight is a common problem in developing countries, including Indonesia, that may cause infections, including viral ones. The solution to this problem is to provide Modisco cookies and auriculopuncture therapy with seed-pressing methods. Auriculopuncture is a traditional Chinese therapy using the seed-pressing method at the auricular point stimulating to relieve other body pathologies. While Modisco cookies have energy-dense, high- calories, digestible cookies that aim to help accelerate weight gain. This study aims to determine the effect of Modisco cookies compared to a combination of Modisco cookies with auriculopuncture on the increase of body weight among male adolescents. This study observed 22 male teenagers with low body weight for three weeks. The subjects are categorized into two treatment groups: (1) the Modisco cookies group and (2) the combination of Modisco cookies and the auriculopuncture treatment group every day for three weeks (26 days). This study compared the mean of the pretest and posttest of the weight changes using a T-test. Furthermore, the average weight changes between the two groups were compared using Manova repeated measured test. The Modisco cookies have nutrient-dense and easy to digest, while Auriculopuncture may stimulate to a certain point in the ear. The hypothalamus has a role in the production of the ghrelin hormone. The therapy may increase hormone appetite and reduce the use of fat reserves. It may increase the body weight of underweight adolescents significantly (p=0.00). A combination of Modisco cookies and auriculopuncture therapy gave a significant increase in adolescent body weight compared to modisco cookies.

AbstractWeather forecasts over mountainous terrain are challenging due to the complex topography that is necessarily smoothed by actual local-area models. As complex mountainous territories represent 20% of the Earth’s surface, accurate forecasts and the numerical resolution of the interaction between the surface and the atmospheric boundary layer are crucial. We present an assessment of the Weather Research and Forecasting model with two different grid spacings (1 km and 0.5 km), using two topography datasets (NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission and Global Multi-resolution Terrain Elevation Data 2010, digital elevation models) and four land-cover-description datasets (Corine Land Cover, U.S. Geological Survey land-use, MODIS30 and MODIS15, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer land-use). We investigate the Ortles Cevadale region in the Rhaetian Alps (central Italian Alps), focusing on the upper Forni Glacier proglacial area, where a micrometeorological station operated from 28 August to 11 September 2017. The simulation outputs are compared with observations at this micrometeorological station and four other weather stations distributed around the Forni Glacier with respect to the latent heat, sensible heat and ground heat fluxes, mixing-layer height, soil moisture, 2-m air temperature, and 10-m wind speed. The different model runs make it possible to isolate the contributions of land use, topography, grid spacing, and boundary-layer parametrizations. Among the considered factors, land use proves to have the most significant impact on results.

Modisco (Modified Dietetic Skim dan Cotton Sheet Oil) adalah makanan tambahan yang mengandung kalori tinggi untuk meningkatkan berat badan balita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan tepung daun kelor terhadap daya terima dan kandungan gizi modisco. Desain eksperimental yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan penambahan konsentrasi tepung daun kelor dalam empat taraf, yaiu 0%, 2,5%, 5%, dan 7,5%. Penentuan produk modisco dipilih berdasarkan tingkat kesukaan/preferensi panelis pada uji hedonik. Secara keseluruhan, modisco dengan skor tertinggi adalah modisco dengan penambahan tepung daun kelor 2,5%. Hasil uji Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam atribut warna, aroma, dan rasa (p = 0,00), tetapi tidak dalam atribut kekentalan (p = 0,340). Modisco terpilih dengan penambahan bubuk daun kelor 2,5% memiliki kandungan energi, protein, zat besi, dan kalsium secara berurutan 80 kkal, 14,51 g, 6,3 g, 249 mg dalam 100 ml produk.

The temporal resolution of satellite determines how well remote sensing products represent changes in the lake environments and influences the practical applications by end-users. Here, a resampling method was used to reproduce the suspended particulate matter (SPM) dataset in 43 large lakes (>50 km2) on the eastern China plain during 2003–2017 at different temporal resolutions using MODIS Aqua (MODISA) based on Google Earth Engine platform, then to address the impact of temporal resolution on the long-term SPM dataset. Differences between the MODISA-derived and reproduced SPM dataset at longer temporal resolution were higher in the areas with large water dynamics. The spatial and temporal distributions of the differences were driven by unfavorable observation environments during satellite overpasses such as high cloud cover, and rapid changes in water quality, such as water inundation, algae blooms, and macrophytes. Furthermore, the annual mean difference in SPM ranged from 5–10% when the temporal difference was less than 10 d, and the differences in summer and autumn were higher than that of other seasons and surpassed 20% when the temporal resolution was more than 16 d. To assure that difference were less than 10% for long-term satellite-derived SPM datasets, the minimal requirement of temporal resolution should be within 5 d for most of the inland lakes and 3 d for lakes with large changes in water quality. This research can be used to not only evaluate the reliability of historically remote sensing products but also provide a reference for planning field campaigns and applying of high spatial resolution satellite missions to monitor aquatic systems in the future.

Following the Aerosol Robotic Network-Ocean Color (AERONET-OC) network scheme and instrument deployment protocols, two fixed platforms (Muping and Dong’ou) in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea were implemented with the support of the China National Satellite Ocean Application Service. Optical radiometry instruments were established at the two sites to autonomously determine remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) and aerosol optical depth (AOD). Details about location selection, platform design, instrument deployment, and the associated data processing procedure are reported in this study. Rrs and AOD measured by independent instruments at the Muping site were compared and results showed that they were consistent, with a median relative percentage difference (MRPD) < 0.6% for AOD and <10% for Rrs. The spectral feature and temporal pattern of Rrs and AOD at the two sites were examined and compared with data from 14 AERONET-OC sites. Rrs and AOD data measured at the two sites were used to evaluate ocean color operational products of MODIS/Aqua (MODISA), OLCI/Sentinel-3A (OLCI-3A), and OLCI/Sentinel-3B (OLCI-3B). Comparison showed that the three satellite sensor-derived Rrs agreed well with in situ measurements, with an MRPD < 25% for MODISA, <30% for OLCI-3A, and <40% for OLCI-3B, respectively. Large uncertainties were observed in the blue bands for the three satellite sensors, particularly for OLCI-3B at 400 nm. AOD at 865 nm derived from the three satellite sensors also agreed well with in situ measurements, with an MRPD of 28.1% for MODISA, 30.6% for OLCI-3A, and 39.9% for OLCI-3B. Two commonly used atmospheric correction (AC) processors, the ACOLITE and SeaDAS, were also evaluated using in situ measurements at two sites and 20 m-resolution MSI/Sentinel-2A data. Close agreements were achieved for both AC processors, while the SeaDAS performed slightly better than ACOLITE. The optimal band selection in the AC models embedded in two AC processors was a combination of one near-infrared and one short-wave infrared band such as 865 and 1609 nm, shedding light on MSI data applications in the aquatic environment.

This study investigates the scientific quality of the GEOV1 Leaf Area Index (LAI), Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FAPAR) and Fraction of Vegetation Cover (FCover) products based on PROBA-V observations. The procedure follows, as much as possible, the guidelines, protocols and metrics defined by the Land Product Validation (LPV) group of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellite (CEOS) for the validation of satellite-derived land products. This study is focused on the consistency of SPOT/VGT and PROBA-V GEOV1 products developed in the framework of the Copernicus Global Land Services, providing an early validation of PROBA-V GEOV1 products using data from November 2013 to May 2014, during the overlap period (November 2013-May 2014). The first natural year of PROBA-V GEOV1 products (2014) was considered for the rest of the quality assessment including comparisons with MODIS C5. Several criteria of performance were evaluated including product completeness, spatial consistency, temporal consistency, intra-annual precision and accuracy. Firstly, and inter-comparison with both spatial and temporal consistency were evaluated with reference satellite products (SPOT/VGT GEOV1 and MODIS C5) are presented over a network of sites (BELMANIP2.1). Secondly, the accuracy of PROBA-V GEOV1 products was evaluated against a number of concomitant agricultural sites is presented. The ground data was collected and up-scaled using high resolution imagery in the context of the FP7 ImagineS project in support of the evolution of Copernicus Land Service. Our results demonstrate that GEOV1 PROBA-V products were found spatially and temporally consistent with similar products (SPOT/VGT, MODISC5), and good agreement with limited ground truth data with an accuracy (RMSE) of 0.52 for LAI, 0.11 for FAPAR and 0.14 for FCover, showing a slight bias for FCover for higher values.

PEM is a condition where a person experiences a lack of long-term energy and protein intake. PEM is characterized by hypoalbuminemia and indigestion. Efforts to treat hypoalbuminemia sufferers by giving PMT in the form of soy formula. Before being given, it is necessary to test PER soybean modisco to see the quality of protein as well as digestibility of soy protein containing 40% vegetable protein and albumin of 2.25%. Some studies explain that soy can increase serum albumin levels in PEM infants with hypoalbuminemia. This research aims to determine the effect of modisco III supplementation with soybean on albumin content in PEM rats. This study used a randomized pretest posttest control group design. The research sample of 24 male Wistar rats. Data analysis using univariate analysis (description) and paired T-test. The average PER value of the four rations was relatively low PER <2.5. Giving modisco soybeans can increase albumin as much as 2.49 g / dl. The quality of protein from Modisco III with the addition of soybeans is included in the poor category. There was a significant effect of modisco III supplementation with soybean on PEM albumin levels. Abtrak : KEP merupakan kondisi dimana seseorang mengalami kekurangan asupan energi dan protein jangka panjang. KEP ditandai dengan kondisi hypoalbuminemia dan gangguan daya cerna. Upaya penanganan penderita hypoalbuminemia dengan pemberian PMT berupa formula kedelai. Sebelum diberikan perlu uji PER modisco kedelai untuk melihat mutu protein sekaligus daya cerna protein Kedelai mengandung protein nabati sebanyak 40% dan albumin sebesar 2,25%. Beberapa penelitian menjelaskan bahwa kedelai mampu meningkatkan kadar albumin serum pada balita KEP dengan hypoalbuminemia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian modisco III dengan penambahan kedelai terhadap kadar albumin pada tikus KEP. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan randomized pretest posttest control grup design. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 24 ekor tikus jantan wistar. Analisis data menggunakan Analisa univariat (deskripsi) dan paired T-test.. Rata-rata nilai PER keempat ransum tergolong rendah PER < 2,5. Pemberian modisco kedelai mampu meningkatkan albumin sebanyak 2,49 g/dl. Mutu protein dari Modisco III dengan penambahan kedelai termasuk dalam kategori kurang baik. Terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna pemberian modisco III dengan penambahan kedelai terhadap kadar albumin tikus KEP.

Modisco merupakan formula WHO yang digunakan untuk terapi diet balita dengan KEP, sehingga dilakukannya modifikasi modisco dengan penambahan kedelai untuk menambah atau memaksimalkan kandungan protein yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan anak gizi buruk. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui adakah pengaruh pemberian Modisco Kedelai terhadap pertumbuhan berat badan dan panjang badan tikus wistar KEP. Metode Penelitian: Desain penelitian ini menggunakan True experimental dengan rancangan randomized pretest and posttest controlled group design. Populasi adalah tikus putih jantan strain wistar berumur 3 minggu. Sampel penelitian ini ditentukan berdasarkan rumus Frederer sejumlah 6 ekor per kelompok sehingga total sampel adalah 24 ekor tikus. Analisis data menggunakan Paired t-test dan One Way Anova (p < 0,05). Hasil: Rata-rata peningkatan berat badan tikus KEP setelah diberi modisco kedelai selama 14 hari sebanyak 55,33 gram (54,9%) sedangkan rata-rata panjang tikus meningkat sebanyak 1,083 cm (9,44%). Terdapat pengaruh pemberian modisco kedelai terhadap pertumbuhan tikus wistar KEP (p = 0,0001). Simpulan: Terdapat pengaruh pemberian modisco kedelai terhadap pertumbuhan berat dan panjang badan tikus wistar KEP.

Pengambilan sampel secara acak buta ganda dengan uji eksperimental. Kriteriainklusi yaitu anak umur 1–3 tahun dengan status gizi buruk dan menderita penyakitinfeksi. Subyek penelitian diambil dari 112 populasi anak gizi buruk yang menderitaberbagai macam penyakit infeksi sebagai penyakit primer.Hasil. Didapatkan 49 anak diantaranya yang masuk kriteria inklusi, kemudian dibagidalam 2 kelompok: 27 anak diberi modisco susu formula dan 22 anak diberi modiscosusu formula elemental. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara berat badan sebelum dansesudah penelitian pada kedua kelompok (P<0,05). Perbedaan bermakna pada nilai Zskorberat badan terhadap tinggi badan (BB/TB) antara kelompok yang diberi modiscosusu formula dan modisco susu formula elemental (P<0,05).Kesimpulan. Kelompok yang diberi modisco susu formula elemental menunjukkanpenyembuhan yang lebih cepat dibanding kelompok yang diberi modisco susu formula.

A colaboradora desta pesquisa foi uma profissional do sul do Brasil que trabalha com produção de roupas exclusivas e em larga escala. A mesma concedeu entrevista por meio de narrativas. Como procedimento metodológico, foi utilizado o mapeamento na pesquisa educacional, organizado em dois momentos: apreensão dos dados por meio de narrativas da colaboradora desta pesquisa; e significação dessas informações – identificação, compreensão e análise criteriosa das narrativas da entrevistada. Como resultado, pode-se perceber que a modista, embora não tenha conhecimento sobre emprego da modelagem em seus fazeres, utiliza-se destes procedimentos para elaboração e produção de roupas para suas clientes.

É necessário que haja uma transformação interior, baseada no encontro pessoal e comunitário com Cristo e, ao mesmo tempo, a manifestação exterior pelas ações. Trata-se de descobrir, por parte de todos os cristãos e agentes de pastoral, as exigências da fé como compromisso com a vida interna da Igreja e com sua ação no mundo.

Abstract The article intends to show: a) that the modist Martin of Dacia sides with the traditional reading of the first chapter of Aristotle’s De interpretatione that we find in masters of arts from the first half of the thirteenth century; and b) that the modist Boethius of Dacia is one of the first thirteenth-century scholars to depart from this reading. In fact, Boethius presents us with an account of propositional verification where the terms’ signification is not operational and where the immediate truth-maker of statements like ‘homo est animal’ is an external state of affairs. In Martin’s case, to the contrary, the terms’ signification is operational in his account of propositional verification and the immediate truth-bearer of such statements is a mental composition or division.

Abstract The MODIS (The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) yearly NPP (Net Primary Production) 1 km resolution products were collected over Estonia for years 2000-2010. The MODIS NPP product for forest pixels showed a clear West-East decreasing trend over the Estonian territory. At the same time the trunk volume increment estimates extracted from the Estonian national statistics averaged over the same period showed the opposite trend. The MODIS NPP algorithm seems to overestimate the contribution of meteorological variables and to ignore the role of soil fertility differences. To improve the predictive power of MODIS algorithm to describe local NPP differences, the local meteorological data with higher spatial resolution should be used as an input in the NPP calculations, whereas the algorithm should be modified by optimizing the input parameters and including parameters of soil fertility into the calculation scheme.

Nutrition status monitoring data in Indonesia in 2017 noted that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding for babies up to the first 6 months only reached 35.7%. This is very low and still far from the coverage target set at 80%, which means that around 65% of babies do not get breast milk (ASI). In the Boja Health Center area, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is still low at 65%, while the target for the city of Semarang is 90%. From the description of the Puskesmas work area, the lowest breastfeeding coverage is in Meteseh Village. Exclusive breastfeeding coverage is still low at 45%. On average, postpartum mothers in Meteseh village don't think about additional nutritional intake to increase milk production, because they get little information or evidence on processing food ingredients that can be taken from local types of food. Health cadres don't know how to increase milk production for postpartum mothers, through providing additional food for making Modisco Corn. Modisco stands for Modified Dietetic Skim and Cotton Sheet Oil, which was discovered in 1973 by May White Head, according to White, the manufacture of Modisco is used to add nutrition to malnourished children, Modisco Corn is an additional modification given to facilitate breastfeeding and add nutrition to postpartum mothers. Processing Modisco Corn as a solution for postpartum mothers who breastfeed their babies, because corn fruit has the benefit of increasing milk production and is rich in nutrients. Modisco Corn is taught to Health Cadres, so that cadres have the ability to teach postpartum mothers at any time from generation to generation to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding.
