Abstract:
Jute is one of Bangladesh 's main cash crops. The contribution of the jute sector to the economy of Bangladesh is enormous. In Bangladesh, Jute is a vital sector from economical, agricultural, industrial, and commercial perspectives. Different kinds of jute products are made in Bangladesh and the products are environmentally friendly as well. Every year Bangladesh earns an amount of foreign currency by exporting jute and jute products in different countries all over the world. That contributes to the national income of Bangladesh. Jute was once called Bangladesh's 'Golden Fibre. But this industry's present and future prosperity and growth are vulnerable. There exist many problems in the jute industry of Bangladesh, such as; lack of scientific knowledge and modern tools, market tools, unavailability of quality seeds, low productivity, inappropriate market forecasting, land fragmentation, natural calamities, conflicts and economic crisis in the world market, etc. Based on the existing problems, I will try to give some policies that may help to eradicate the problems and improve the present conditions of the jute industry in Bangladesh.

Abstract:
Historically, jute is known as the golden fibre of Bangladesh, a leading cash crop and major export item for Bangladesh. Unfortunately, the production and export of jute have been declining since the 1970s due to the various internal and external problems. The Bangladesh government has recently declared to shut down the production at all state-owned jute mills. This paper aims to determine the reasons behind the state-owned jute mills failure and feasible solutions to unravel the problems. An in-depth interview with 10 (ten) industry experts was conducted to collect primary data. Secondary information has been collected from different books, websites, articles and newspapers. The demand for various and versatile jute products has been increasing globally over the last two decades. Still, in Bangladesh, the jute sector's development is no longer satisfactory to retain its glorious position towards the world because of having some major problems such as mismanagement and corruption of BJMC, lack of modern machinery, lack of skilled workers, weak marketing and government policies etc. Most state-owned jute mills under BJMC are stuck in dishonesty and lavishness alongside ageing infrastructure. They have been incurring losses for years, turning profits in just four of the last 48 years. Reform and restructuring of BJMC, modernizing factory with the latest technology, providing enough training to employees, investment in research work, improvement in the production process, efficient marketing strategy and appropriate government policies might help the state-owned jute mills to regain its position in the national and international market. There are no reasons to shut down the production where reformation is adequate to make the state-owned jute mills profitable. At least, the time to shut down state-owned jute mills is not right due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Abstract:
The application of adhesively bonded joints in automotive industry has increased significantly in recent years mainly because of the potential for lighter weight vehicles, fuel savings and reduced emissions. The use of composites in making automotive body components to achieve a reduced vehicle mass has also continuously increased. Natural fibre composites have recently attracted a great deal of attention by the automotive industry due to their many attractive benefits (e.g. high strength-to-weight ratio, sustainable characteristics and low cost). However, the literature on natural fibre-reinforced polymer composite adhesive joints is scarce and needs further investigation. The main objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the mechanical performance of adhesively bonded joints made of synthetic- and natural fibre-reinforced polymer composites. Similar and dissimilar single lap joints bonded with a modern tough structural adhesive used in the automotive industry, as well as the epoxy resin AR260 (the same resin used in composite fabrication) were tested. It was found that the average failure loads varied significantly with adhesive material strength and adherend stiffness. Furthermore, it was also observed that failure mode has a significant effect in failure load. The jute-based natural fibre composites joints, both hybrid and purely natural, were superior in strength compared to the sisal-based natural composites joints.

Abstract:
Water losses in irrigation canals occur during the process of water transportation, with seepage loss being the main contributor to total water loss in irrigation conveyance. Cracks and settlement are the most problematic factors affecting canal lining structures, leading to reduced performance of irrigation canals due to issues such as sediment deposition, waterlogging, and leakage. Seepage losses typically range from 20 % - 30 %, but this can be reduced to 15 % - 20 % with the use of canal lining. However, the concrete lining structure, being a thin plate, is prone to high rates of cracking, which weakens the performance of canals. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance the flexure and splitting-tensile strengths of concrete to control the rate of cracking in the canal lining. The splitting-tensile strength of concrete is particularly important in crack control. Hybridization of fibers, such as combining polypropylene and jute fibers, can efficiently enhance flexural toughness, flexural strength, and fracture energy more than using a single type of fiber. The overall aim of this review is to summarize the literature on the use of modern materials to reduce water losses in concrete canal lining. Initially, hybrid fibers (one natural fiber and one artificial fiber) are selected to explain the behavior of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete (HFRC). The crack arresting mechanism of HFRC can help reduce losses in concrete canal lining. The findings of this review will be valuable as a reference for both industry practitioners and academic researchers interested in the development of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete materials, particularly for canal lining applications.

Abstract:
At the moment, all economically developed countries face the problem of pollution of the surrounding world, and one of the main pollutants is packaging. Packaging helps to preserve its contents from various damages, and informative and attractive packaging is an indispensable attribute of the marketing process. Most products are Packed in a huge amount of film and paper, which is thrown out by the consumer to the landfill. As a result, there are growing landfills for garbage, 40 % of which is disposable packaging. In the conditions of increased demand for so-called healthy food products, the question of packaging this food in no less "healthy" packaging arose. Eco-friendly, biodegradable, and edible packaging is one of the relatively new trends in the field of ecology. The international standard ASTM D-6400 "Standard specification for marking plastics intended for aerobic composting in municipal or industrial facilities" regulates the development of bioplastic mass technologies. According to the Standard specification for compostable plastics, biodegradable and decomposable plastics are classified into the following groups: starch, cellulose and protein based plastics; aliphatic polyesters; polylactic acids; polytrihydroxybutyrate; polyhydroxalkanoates; bio-derived polyethylene and lipid-derived polymers. According to the method of decomposition, bioplastics are divided into compostable plastic and photo-degradable plastics. The range of biodegradable plastics includes: starch; natural polyesters; renewable resource polyesters; synthetic aliphatic polyesters; aliphatic-aromatic co-polyesters; hydro-biodegradable polyester; water-soluble polymers; photo-biodegradable plastics and controlled degradation of dietary supplements. In the Russian Federation, the issues of bioplastic production have not been developed and are not legally fixed. Today, the main types of edible packaging include natural casings for meat products, wafer cups for ice cream, craft paper, cardboard, wood, cellulose, and others. Jute bags are a potential biodegradable packaging material. Many companies produce modern disposable eco-friendly dishes made of wood, bamboo, carbonized bamboo, sugar cane and other eco-friendly materials without the use of chemicals.

The chloralkali industry is one of the largest single electricity consumers in the world, and electricity costs can account for about sixty per cent of the running costs of a modern plant. This article, which is based in part upon a paper given at the Third London International Chlorine Symposium, organised by the Society of Chemical Industry, the Chlorine Institute and the Royal Society of Chemistry, which was held in London during June, considers the use in membrane cells of noble metal coated cathodes developed by Johnson Matthey and indicates some of the savings that can result. These coated cathodes, which are being evaluated by a number of chloralkali plant manufacturers, appear to act in a catalytic manner to reduce the cathodic hydrogen overpotential and thus the energy consumption.

Abstract:
Abstract Real estate brokerage is the activity of matching parties to a real estate transaction. Due to the increasing ease of access to offers posted by sellers and landlords, various challenges in finding solutions that will attract potential customers have appeared before real estate brokers. Given the complexity of the processes in which brokers can participate, the use of modern technologies in real estate brokerage seems to be one way of maintaining and developing the broker industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in the way brokers operate, forcing them to implement or accelerate the use of modern technologies in customer service. Therefore, the main goal of this article is an attempt to diagnose the use of modern technologies and the types of technologies used in customer service by real estate brokers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in the form of a survey among representatives of the real estate brokerage industry. The answers obtained from the respondents have allowed us to state that real estate agencies use new technologies to a large extent. Over 40% of the interviewees stated that the real estate market has enormous potential for the application of modern technologies. Furthermore, over 70% of the respondents indicated a large or rather large impact of the COVID-19 on the application of modern technologies in the real estate industry. The restrictions related to the epidemic have forced companies to use modern technologies to replace direct contact between the seller and the customer. The research was conducted among real estate brokers in the period between June and October 2020.

Abstract:
To achieve efficient milk ejection has been a recurrent problem in machine milking of reindeer does. The field season 2004 was a breakthrough for an efficient and complete milk let down in reindeer. The proportion of residual milk was reduced as lactation progressed; from around 40-50% at start of the milking in mid June to around 10-15% in late August, suggesting that habituation and training are important factors for triggering the ejection. We performed an experiment including 3 treatments; 1) Calves equipped with a "kjevle" (a wooden stick placed in the mouth of the calves making them unable to suckle but keeping their grazing ability intact) for 8 - 14 hrs dependent of lactation stage, followed by milking of the does, 2) Physically separation of the mothers and their calves for 8 - 14 hrs dependent of lactation stage, followed by milking of the does and 3) Permanent separation of females and calves at start of the milking period and females milked twice per day. The females and calves in group 1 and 2 were rejoined after the "kjevle" and separation period. The females in these two groups were milked every second day. The "kjevle" treatment apparently works better than physical separ¬ation according to welfare parameters and proportion milk ejected in the first part of the milking period. Permanent separation did also work well and permits that the whole production after separation can be utilized. However, in order to keep up the milk production frequent milkings are required during the first days of separation. The growth of the calves was high and did not differ between treatments. This suggests that the calves are able to compensate the reduced milk intake by increasing their intake of forages.

Abstract:
This article explores the ways in which sentimentality, self-reflexivity, and identity intersect with the rural settings of Dolly Parton’s concept album My Tennessee Mountain Home (1973) and June Carter Cash’s pivotal solo work Appalachian Pride (1975). The works of pioneering country music artists Carter Cash and Parton illustrate a recurrent tension within the genre, representing a reconciliation between the traditional lyrical and sonic identifiers of country music and the increasingly modern approach of the wider popular music industry. The creation of emotive and personal musical works, notably at the height of Carter Cash’s and Parton’s respective careers within the mainstream country music industry, enables a presentation of their experiences as both dichotomously aligned with the conventions of rural music of the United States and distinct from the mythology surrounding the Appalachia region and constructions of Southern femininities. Further showcasing the societal and cultural practices that evolved within Appalachian communities, specifically the complex roles and creative pursuits undertaken by female-identifying members, June Carter Cash and Dolly Parton combined their rural Southern upbringings with universal experiences of love and loss.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Corporate social responsibility (CSR), as a concept that tackles economic, social, and environmental dimensions of business, becomes more and more implemented in companies all around the world. There are different effects that CSR can have on business performance, but it is generally accepted that CSR is related to positive outcomes in business organizations. Also, CSR is a concept that can be understood as a way of reaching sustainable development in the future. This paper aims to investigate the level of the implementation of CSR in Serbia, concerning large companies in the processing industry. The methodology used in the paper obtains exploration of theoretical sources, but also the analysis of primary empirical data gathered in Serbia, in the period from November 2019 until June 2020. The authors designed a questionnaire to explore the state of the art of CSR in Serbia, in business organizations, based on previous successful empirical research. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal Wallis tests were used to investigate the CSR on the sample of 73 large companies in Serbia’s processing industry. The analyses were made in SPSS software. The results point to the relatively high level of CSR activities in Serbian processing companies, and to the fact that modern companies understand the need of reaching more diversified goals than just economic ones in their business.

Kemajuan teknologi semakin berkembang.

Abstract:
This article analyzes the original way in which the Brazilian cultural and musical movement Tropicália, led by Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil in the late 1960s, dealt with the constant imminence of seizure by the culture industry. Instead of seeking isolation from this modern reality of the market, Tropicália strove to critically amalgamate it, in addition to its technological innovations. In doing so, it established a language that brought together erudition and popular elements, as well as foreign influences and the Brazilian subject matter. Tropicália was not about using aesthetical autonomy as an alibi for shunning the world, but about accepting the challenges of artistic communication in a mass society, especially by means of popular music. It thereby introduced to Brazil the possibility of having vanguard art done while harnessing new media forms. Abstract:
Without physically intensive building, modern infrastructure development would be impossible. Musculoskeletal diseases (MSDs) and other occupational health issues may arise in such a demanding environment. Construction workers often develop MSDs from repeated actions, uncomfortable postures, and heavy lifting. Musculoskeletal disorders may damage muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, etc. The effect of MSDs is well known; occupational health studies increasingly include gender-specific aspects. Despite being in the minority, the number of female construction employees is growing. However, physiological variations and occupational activities and environments may provide distinct obstacles. Thus, identifying gender-specific MSDs in construction is essential for worker safety. This research proposes a gender-specific machine learning (ML)-based musculoskeletal disorder detection framework (GS-ML-MSD2F) in the construction industry. A simple random selection procedure chose 250 female and 250 male rebar workers with at least six months of experience for the dataset. In January and June 2023, face-to-face interviews and ergonomic evaluations were undertaken. The data were analyzed using different machine learning methods, and the effectiveness of the methods was studied. The data showed that 60% of female rebar workers had MSD symptoms. The lower back and shoulders accounted for 40% of cases. Multiple machine learning methods revealed two significant factors related to musculoskeletal disorders: lengthy working hours and uncomfortable postures, and long working hours had an adjusted odds ratio of 8.5%, whereas awkward posture had an adjusted odds ratio of 42.5%. These results emphasize the relevance of working hours and posture in MSD prevention for female rebar workers in the construction sector.

Abstract:
E-healthcare has been envisaged as a major component of the infrastructure of modern healthcare, and has been developing rapidly in China. For healthcare, news media can play an important role in raising public interest and utilization of a particular service and complicating (and, perhaps clouding) debate on public health policy issues. We conducted a linguistic analysis of news reports from January 2015 to June 2021 related to E-healthcare in mainland China, using a heterogeneous graphical modeling approach. This approach can simultaneously cluster the datasets and estimate the conditional dependence relationships of keywords. It was found that there were eight phases of media coverage. The focuses and main topics of media coverage were extracted based on the network hub and module detection. The temporal patterns of media reports were found to be mostly consistent with the policy trend. Specifically, in the policy embryonic period (2015–2016), two phases were obtained, industry management was the main topic, and policy and regulation were the focuses of media coverage. In the policy development period (2017–2019), four phases were discovered. All the four main topics, namely industry development, health care, financial market, and industry management, were present. In 2017 Q3–2017 Q4, the major focuses of media coverage included social security, healthcare and reform, and others. In 2018 Q1, industry regulation and finance became the focuses. In the policy outbreak period (2020–), two phases were discovered. Financial market and industry management were the main topics. Medical insurance and healthcare for the elderly became the focuses. This analysis can offer insights into how the media responds to public policy for E-healthcare, which can be valuable for the government, public health practitioners, health care industry investors, and others.

Abstract:
In a conversation held in June 2016 between Nobel laureate Eugene Fama of the University of Chicago and Joel Stern, chairman and CEO of Stern Value Management, Professor Fama revisited some of the landmarks of “modern finance,” a movement that was launched in the early 1960s at Chicago and other leading business schools, and that gave rise to Efficient Markets Theory, the Modigliani‐Miller “irrelevance” propositions, and the Capital Asset Pricing Model. These concepts and models are still taught at prestigious business schools, whose graduates continue to make use of them in corporations and investment firms throughout the world. But while acknowledging the staying power of “modern finance,” Fama also notes that, even after a half‐century of research and refinements, most asset‐pricing models have failed empirically. Estimating something as apparently simple as the cost of capital remains fraught with difficulty. He dismisses betas for individual stocks as “garbage,” and even industry betas are said to be unstable, “too dynamic through time.” What's more, the wide range of estimates for the market risk premium—anywhere from 2% to 10%—casts doubt on their reliability and practical usefulness. And as if to reaffirm the fundamental insight of the M&M “irrelevance” propositions—namely, that what companies do with the right‐hand sides of their balance sheets “doesn't matter”—Fama observes that “we still have no real resolution on the key questions of debt and taxes, or dividends and taxes.”But if he has reservations about much of modern finance, Professor Fama is even more skeptical about subfields now in vogue such as behavioral finance, which he describes as “mostly just dredging for anomalies,” with no underlying theory and no testable predictions. Although he does not dispute that a number of well‐documented traits from cognitive psychology show up in individual behavior, Fama says that behavioral economists have thus far failed to come up with a testable theory that links cognitive psychology to market prices. And he continues to defend the concept of “efficient markets” with which his name has long been closely associated, while noting that empirically based asset pricing models such as his (with Ken French) “three‐factor” CAPM have produced much better results than the standard CAPM.

Abstract:
Ukraine has taken significant steps towards integration into the European space during its period of independence. On February 21, 2019, the strategic course of Ukraine towards EU and NATO membership was defined in the Constitution of Ukraine, and as of June 23, 2022, Ukraine is a candidate for membership in the EU. The chosen course of entry into the European space requires changes and improvements in the economic, public, scientific space, and all areas of Ukrainian society. It is important to improve all components of the living environment, namely natural, production, housing, information and media environments, recreation, and daily commuting. At the same time, there is a problem of humanizing the living environment to provide equal conditions and opportunities for full living, work, and leisure for people with disabilities who have long been deprived of this opportunity. The main tasks of the legal framework in the construction industry are to ensure the reliability and safety of construction objects and to establish requirements that ensure healthy and safe working, living, and domestic conditions for all segments of the population. These tasks have been declared in regulatory documents both during the Soviet period and in the period of Ukraine's independence. However, in practice, not all requirements for architectural and planning solutions for people with disabilities and people with limited mobility were fulfilled. The Ukrainian society's aspiration to integrate into the European space should forever leave behind such phenomena as legal nihilism, especially when it comes to complying with state norms and rules in construction. A comprehensive approach is needed to create a fully inclusive living environment for all members of society, and simply making changes to building practices is not enough. It is necessary to make radical changes to Ukraine's transportation infrastructure, including retrofitting public transport and improving sanitary transport services to serve people with disabilities and other mobility-impaired groups in society. Creating comfortable conditions for people with disabilities, particularly those with hearing and visual impairments, requires changes in the information and media environment, including the creation of special training programs and visual and media information. It is also necessary to develop a state program for the rehabilitation and employment of war veterans with disabilities.

Abstract:
Modern beekeeping industry globalization leads to an increase in competition between countries for the foreign market. The products that provide the appropriate level of safety and quality following international requirements would be able to gain a competitive advantage. Establishing a competitive advantage for honey on the world market and improving exports/import process with the guaranteed observance of consumers’ rights and interests require a systematic revision of regulatory documentation for beekeeping products. The study aimed to analyze the current international and national regulations governing the safety and quality of honey. Critical analysis of normative documentation, a comparison of international, European, and Ukrainian requirements for physicochemical indicators of honey quality and content of dangerous contaminants, as well as the study of the organic beekeeping regulation was made. It was found that the national regulatory framework for the safety and quality of honey needs to be optimized. Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food (Ukraine) of June 19, 2019, № 330 contains requirements that are more adapted to international and European standards for honey quality criteria compared to current national requirements. Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food (Ukraine) of June 19, 2019, № 330 still needs to be improved for items governing the value of moisture content and mineral content as well as diastasis activity of honey components. Concerning the production of organic beekeeping products, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced the current EU regulatory framework for organic beekeeping.

Abstract:
Background: Timber industry is one industry that has experienced an increase in noise levels as a result of the presence of modern machines, higher speeds, and more levels so that the risk of workers experiencing hearing loss due to noise can increase as the occurrence of Noise-Induced Permanent Threshold Shif (NIPTS). Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the risk factors associated with subjective complaints of workers due to noise at work and formulate control measures to prevent the occurrence of NIPTS. Methods: This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design at PT.X, Probolinggo Regency in June 2019. The research sample of 44 respondents was chosen randomly by simple random sampling and the data were analyzed by chi-square test (α = 0.05). Result: The results of noise measurements in the work environment show that the 5 areas in the production section, only 3 areas have an average noise more than 85 dBA, namely WW1, WW2, and WW3. Whereas the most non-auditory complaints suffered by workers were among those with noise intensity of more than 85 dBA and in the WW2 and WW1 work areas. The results of cross-tabulation and analysis of Chi-Square statistical tests showed that the value of p = 0,000 <(α = 0.05). This means there is a significant relationship between noise intensity with complaints of hearing loss in workers. Conclusion: only the intensity of noise with complaints of hearing loss in workers who have a statistically significant relationship.

Abstract:
AbstractStructural robustness is a specific safety consideration which is currently addressed in modern codes and standards, including the Eurocodes. It requires particular care from all professionals involved in the construction industry. The need for practical guidelines to mitigate the risk of progressive collapse has been emphasised by recent catastrophic events such as the 9/11 terrorist attack in New‐York. The lack of consistent design rules for practitioners is however clearly identified in existing normative documents and literature. Accordingly, various research projects were launched, particularly in Europe through RFCS research projects. Thanks to these research activities, significant scientific background has been developed, with the aim of understanding and characterising the behaviour of steel and composite structures subjected to exceptional events such as impact, explosion, or loss of a bearing member. Nevertheless, there was a need to consolidate the available scientific knowledge and to transform it into a consistent set of practical recommendations in order to facilitate the design of steel and composite structures for robustness. This was the purpose of a recent RFCS project “FAILNOMORE” (grant No 899371) which was concluded in June 2022. A brief summary and discussion of the main outcomes of this project are provided in the present paper.

Abstract:
There is a growing need to consider alternative agricultural strategies that move an agricultural industry focused on food production to one that also supplies the needs of other industrial sectors, such as paper, textiles, biofuels or added-value chemicals, in the context of the so-called lignocellulose biorefinery. Biorefineries use renewable raw materials to produce energy together with a wide range of everyday commodities in an economic manner. Decreasing our dependency on fossil fuel reserves and boosting rural development are important goals of modern society. Biorefineries are therefore seen as a very promising route to meeting our aims for sustained prosperity and preserving the environment. Renewable sources of energy and products are required for sustainable development of our society in the near future. Plant biomass is the main source of renewable materials in Earth and represents a potential source of renewable energy and biobased products. Biomass is available in high amounts at very low cost (as forest, agricultural or industrial lignocellulosic wastes and cultures) and could be a widely available and inexpensive source for biofuels and bioproducts in the near future. This special issue of The Open Agriculture Journal is devoted to the “Valorization of agroforest crops for biomass utilization” and provides a comprehensive description of the current state-of-the-art in the whole fields of lignocellulose biorefineries, including studies on different feedstocks (plant biomass, agro-industrial residues, energy crops or new industrial crops), technologies for biomass deconstruction and fractionation (i.e. alkaline pulping, organosolv fractionation), and products (i.e. biofuels, composite building materials, lignin, paper pulp and other industrial products). Different papers by internationally recognized experts have been collected for this special issue and report various aspects of biomass utilization and valorization. Among them, the paper by Díaz et al. evaluates different fast-growing species (paulownia, tagasaste, giant reed, leucaena and sesbania) according to their biomass productivity, chemical composition and the chemical characteristics of the liquids obtained after an autohydrolysis treatment. The study confirms the feasibility of the nonisothermal autohydrolysis treatment process for the selected species to yield sugar oligomers and hemicellulosic sugar. The paper by Marques et al., on the other hand, reported the detailed chemical composition of several non-woody plant fibers (bast fibers from flax, hemp, kenaf, jute; leaf fibers from sisal, abaca and curaua; and giant reed), which are used as raw materials for pulp and papermaking, with especial emphasis in the chemistry of lipids and lignin and their fate during alkaline pulping. This study offers valuable information that will lead to a better industrial utilization of these non-woody plant species of high socioeconomic interest. Likewise, the paper by Villaverde et al. provided a review of the chemistry of another interesting crop, Miscanthus x giganteus, as a source of biobased products (i.e. paper pulp) through organosolv fractionation. Organosolv processes have demonstrated their effectiveness as fractionation treatments, therefore special emphasis was placed by the authors on these systems and, in particular, in those using carboxylic acids, such as the Acetosolv, Formosolv and Milox processes. Similarly, the paper by Gullón et al. provided an excellent review of selected process alternatives for biomass refining. Special attention was devoted to biorefinery schemes dealing with the fractionation of lignocellulosic raw materials by chemical treatments. The potential of hydrothermal treatments as the first stage of future biorefineries is discussed. Special attention was also paid to the low-volume, high-added value products that can be solubilized by this type of technology. In the same way, the paper by da Silva and Curvelo reported the acetone-water delignification of Eucalyptus urograndis, a process that also fits perfectly with the biomass biorefinery approach, and obtained high selectivity at the beginning of the pulping process. On the other hand, agricultural residues, which are usually disposed, have major components (cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin) that can also be exploited for production of bioenergy or bioproducts. In this sense, the paper by Jiménez and Rodríguez studied the valorization of agricultural residues by fractionation of their components. The authors review the different possibilities of biomass fractionation by hydrothermal treatments as well as by organosolv delignification. Alternative and novel uses of biomass products are also reported in this special issue. Although an excellent bio-fuel, however, new uses of lignin in more high-value-added products might be more attractive and profitable. Thus, the paper by Gellerstedt et al. focused on the production of carbon fibers from lignin into the wood-based biorefinery concept. Lignin-based carbon fiber is the most value-added product from a wood-based biorefinery. The replacement of construction steel in cars and trucks with a much lighter carbon fiber-based composite will ultimately result in more fuel-efficient vehicles. Various attempts to make carbon fiber from lignins are discussed in this interesting paper. Finally, the paper by Tiilikkala et al. also reports a novel use of another biomass product, wood pyrolysis liquids (so-called wood vinegar), as biocide and plant protection product. Wood vinegar and other slow pyrolysis liquids are produced as a by-product of charcoal production. The aim of this review was to clarify the potential of slow pyrolysis liquids in agricultural use, in particular, in pesticide applications. The main challenges in developing novel bio control technologies are discussed in this paper and the barriers in the commercialization of biological control agents are revealed. In conclusion, all the studies reported in the papers presented in this special issue are intended to get a wider and more rational use of agro-forest resources as is the cultivated plant biomass used as raw material for the manufacturing of bio-fuels and bio-products in the context of the biorefinery approach. As the Guest Editor of this special issue, I wish to thank all the contributing authors and reviewers for their efforts to put forth this collection of papers, that I am sure will be of high interest for the readers of The Open Agriculture Journal.

Abstract:
The key factor for the effective development of business entities in market conditions is the issue of activating innovation and entrepreneurship, because in this way it is possible to significantly increase the economic efficiency of a given entity, improve the financial situation and, consequently, increase tax revenues to the state budget. In addition, the improvement of business and social relations between enterprises and state and self-government authorities is also particularly important. In connection with the above, the importance of chambers of commerce acting as the integrators of the business community, self-government and state authority institutions and other public entities is growing. One of such chambers of commerce is the Industrial and Commercial Congregation of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, which also integrates the business community with the institutions of locally operating local government units and the regional economic chambers cooperating with them, which mainly associate locally operating entrepreneurs. As part of its activities, the Industrial and Commercial Congregation of the Polish Chamber of Commerce organizes periodically implemented meetings, conferences and congresses, during which debates regarding the need for systemic improvement of economic, normative, fiscal, etc. conditions are made to small and medium-sized companies in the trade sector operating in Poland. The main events integrating entrepreneurs, local government, economists, people of art and politicians organized periodically by the Polish-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry are the Congresses of Polish Economy and the Congresses of Modern Economy. One of the last events of this type was the Jubilee XIV Congress of Polish Economy organized on June 21, 2017 in Warsaw on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This Congress, which is the subject of the next chapter of this study, continued the problems raised during debates taking place during previous KPH OIG Congresses.

Abstract:
Infestation by the mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae, decimated the forests of central British Columbia from 1999 to 2012, severely impacting the forest industry of the Nechako–Chilcotin plateau. In response, all levels of government recognized the value in developing other areas of economic activity, such as hydrocarbon and mineral exploitation, to support local economies. Exploration for resources beneath the Nechako–Chilcotin plateau has historically been constrained by Tertiary volcanic sequences and Quaternary glacial deposits that obscure the underlying geology and limit geophysical imaging. Thus, a coordinated program comprising additional geological mapping, borehole data analysis, and modern geophysical surveys of the area was initiated in 2006, with the objective of better defining the subsurface geology, solving problems of imaging through the complex near-surface, and developing improved regional geological and tectonic models. An initial set of papers arising from this fieldwork, which focused on issues relevant to mineral and hydrocarbon exploration, was published in June 2011 in a Special Issue of the Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences. This Introduction to the second “Mountain Pine Beetle” Special Issue summarizes a set of scientific papers that focus on topics more related to hydrocarbon exploration and the large-scale structure of the crust. The papers deal with the development, thickness, and present distribution of the most prospective Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, as well as characterizing the physical properties of the near-surface volcanic units.

Abstract:
Many oil and gas projects have been subjected to significant cost overruns and schedule delays, which is a major concern for the decision-makers in the oil industry. This paper aims to develop three mathematical models to estimate earned value indicators, the Schedule Performance Index (SPI), Cost Performance Index (CPI), and To-Complete Cost Performance Indicator (TCPI), to reduce the cost and time estimation error in Iraqi oil projects. The research methodology adopted artificial intelligence techniques using Multiple Linear Regression technology (MLR) to predict Earned Value (EV) Indexes to get standard local equations to measure the performance of Iraqi oil projects. The data is based on (83) monthly reports from 26 June 2015 to 25 August 2022 collected from the Karbala Refinery Project, selected as a case study. It is one of the Oil Projects Company (SCOP)- the Iraqi Ministry of Oil’s massive and modern projects, and it combines several projects into one project. The results showed numerous significant points, such as the average accuracy (AA%) for the CPI, SPI, and TCPI was 95.194%, 92.195%, and 83.706%, respectively, while the correlation coefficients (R) were 92.4%, 98.4%, and 93.7%. It was shown that there were relatively few differences between the theoretical and actual results. Therefore, the MLR technique was utilized in this paper to derive the prediction models for its more correct earned value predictions.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to provide a description of the emergence and rise of pop culture and the phenomenon of the Muhibbin which became a wave among students. Pop culture usually only lives in modern, urbanistic society, whereas Islamic boarding schools are known as Islamic education institutions that are generally traditionalist, closed, and conventional. As the pesantren metamorphic wave with many formal schools has sprung up since the 2000s, the pesantren’s contact with the outside world has become more intense, the influences of giving color, and new streams, especially in this social media culture, indications of the emergence of pop culture have strengthened. This study is a cross method or method combination of quantitative and qualitative, using participatory heuristic techniques (observation, interview, documentation), verification, and interpretation in digging data. This is sectional research or in a limited period (January-June 2019). Determination of informants using random sampling techniques, from 183 Islamic boarding schools listed in the Ministry of Religion Banyumas Regency, 31 boarding schools were taken, with each of the 3-4 students, bringing the total to 100 respondents. The results showed that the relationship between the santri community and pop culture was not new since the religious songs industry was booming, but with the emergence of the Muhibbin trend (lovers of the Apostles with sholawat songs), the santri community found the right form of contradictory relations between orthodoxy students with trendy pop, because Santri is the object and the subject at the same time. Muhibbin wave embodies a compromise between Santri’s sacred Islamic values and pop expression as a young spirit, where the age of santri in general.

Abstract:
Abstract The article presents the generalized results of century-long observations of changes in the yield of grain crops of Udmurtia against the background of climate variation and the development of production technologies. The trends in the development of crop production are revealed and the influence of meteorological indicators on the efficiency of agriculture is proved. The correlations of grain yield with the temperature regime and moisture supply in certain periods of plant growth are considered. It is established that the climatic conditions of plant growth from April to June have the greatest role in the formation of the crop. There is a positive relationship between the yield and the average annual temperature of the previous year. Based on the analysis of time series of meteorological indicators for temperatures and precipitation in the summer period, trend equations are obtained, which prove the regularities of the growth of the average daily temperature and average monthly precipitation over a multi-year interval. A rather significant direct influence on plant growth of the average temperature of April, which determines the intensity of soil processes, has been revealed. At the same time, the existence of cyclic components in changes in temperature and precipitation is confirmed, and the frequency of these cycles is calculated. The tendency of reducing the role of natural factors in the formation of the crop with the use of innovative technologies and digitalization of the industry is proved. The possibilities of applying modern scientific achievements and technical solutions to reduce the role of climatic factors in the production of crop products are shown.

Abstract:
Modern historians of the Jamaica rebellion of October 1865 have attached much causal importance to a document of 14 June the same year, known as ‘the Queen's Letter’. This was the official response to a petition in which ‘certain poor people’ of St Ann's parish in the island had naively asked their sovereign for ‘a quantity of land’ and other means of relief from distress. Drafted by Henry Taylor, clerk and senior clerk in the West India department, of the colonial office since the mid-1820s, and approved by permanent under-secretary Sir Frederic Rogers and secretary of state Edward Cardwell, it has acquired an unmitigatedly bad reputation. It is not merely that it was naturally based on the knowledge that no imperial funds or other competence existed or could exist for relieving the consequences even of admittedly bad seasons in colonies (or at home), but rather that it thrust austere advice upon the suffering petitioners. Any labouring population, it stated, whether in Jamaica or England, could provide against adversity only by ‘industry and prudence’: above all, by undertaking – what was understood to be notoriously lacking amongst creoles – regular work for wages. Even the most sympathetic critics have considered this to be ‘harsh’ and ‘callous’. One writes that it reflected the sentiments of an imperial bureaucracy whose expectations had been influenced by the remarkable changes in English society, whose attitudes were governed by evangelical propriety, and whose notions of progress were inextricably tied to productivity, trade figures, accumulating property, and the refinements which these entailed.

In addition to the guaranteed constitutional right to judicial protection of intellectual property rights, the norms of special legislation in the field of intellectual property determine the legal basis for the protection of violated rights. In connection with the reform of the state system of legal protection of intellectual property, the Concept of reforming the state system of legal protection of intellectual property in Ukraine, approved by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated June 1, 2016 No. 402-r, was analyzed, which states that the state system of legal protection of intellectual property property implements the state system of legal protection of intellectual property, and also draws attention to the imperfect and inert system of state management of intellectual property, which has led to the absence of significant changes in the adaptation of the legislative framework to modern economic and political conditions (the fight against patent trolling, Internet piracy, satisfaction needs of the IT industry, military industry), as well as the National Strategy for the Development of Intellectual Property in Ukraine for the period until 2020, where a two-level structure of the state system has been created instead of a three-level structure. Separate provisions of the legislation, the norms of which guarantee the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as special laws and by-laws defining the reformation and functioning of the state system of legal protection of intellectual property, are considered. Attention is drawn to the fact that today the state system of intellectual property protection in Ukraine has an extensive system of state authorities that ensure the protection and protection of the violated subjective rights of copyright holders. The existing problematic issues of intellectual property protection are analyzed and the author’s proposals for improving the state of protection and protection of intellectual property rights in Ukraine are formulated.
