Abstract:
Recent years have seen considerable interest in mobile cloud computing and edge cloud computing. This paper presents a mobile Intercloud system for supporting mobile cloud computing in general and edge cloud computing in particular. In essence, a mobile user with a mobile terminal can set up a virtual mobile terminal with applications and data in a central/home cloud. The virtual mobile terminal can facilitate task and computation offloading and other functions. Moreover, when a mobile terminal joins an edge cloud, the virtual mobile terminal (including required applications and data) can be migrated to enhance system efficiency and the user experience (e.g., shorter access delays). An experimental prototype has been developed for evaluating certain basic object transfer functions. To support the application transfer function, we formulate both finite- and infinite-horizon Markov decision models to determine decision policies (i.e., should an application be transferred to an edge cloud). The transfer decision depends on various factors, including transfer cost, duration associated with the edge cloud, usage probability, and usage cost in the central cloud and edge cloud. Based on the models, we obtain closed-form solutions for the decision policies, which can be expressed in meaningful formulas to provide useful insights for edge cloud computing in general. To evaluate the mobile Intercloud system for edge cloud computing, we conducted extensive evaluations, including experimental evaluation for testing the basic functions and protocols, analytical evaluation for studying the analytical models, and simulation evaluation for analyzing performance in a multiuser and multicloud environment in particular. The experimental, simulation, and analytical results provide useful insights into the design and development of the mobile Intercloud system for edge cloud computing as well as decision policies for application transfer.

This paper is aimed at proposing a mobile cloud computing system called M2C (Mobile Math Cloud). This system provides users with an APP to accelerate the execution of MATLAB instructions and scripts on their Android-based mobile devices by taking advantage of diverse processors including CPUs and GPUs available in clouds. On the other hand, it supports time-sharing license management to reduce the user time of waiting system services and increase the resource utilization of clouds. Moreover, it supports parallel computing and optimal resource configurations for maximizing the performance of user applications, and faulty tolerance for recovering the contexts of user programs from system faults. With these supports, M2C provides a reliable and efficient service for mobile users to perform massive mathematical computation anytime anywhere.

Abstract:
Future mobile multimedia systems will have wearable computing devices as their front ends, supported by database servers, I/O servers, and compute servers over a backbone network. Multimedia applications on such systems are demanding in terms of network and compute resources, and have stringent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Providing QoS has two aspects. On the one hand, the QoS requirements for the relevant resources have to be defined and suitable policies for meeting these requirements have to be devised and analyzed. On the other hand, the architecture of the system components and the mechanisms enabling the implementation of these policies have to be designed. In this paper we propose an architecture called HARMONY for providing QoS in mobile computing environments. The HARMONY architecture is a layered architecture that provides mechanisms for the management of network and compute resources, in particular for call admission control taking into account the simultaneous requests for both types of resources by the mobile units. It also provides a mechanism for mobility management of mobile units as they move from one cell to another in a mobile computing environment. The network resources are reserved based on the Entropy model. In order to provide compute guarantees, we provide a novel scheme for off-loading tasks from the mobile units to the compute servers in the backbone network. We propose a load-balancing scheme to minimize the call blocking probability due to lack of compute resources, which redistributes the total load in the system across all compute servers so that these are equally loaded. Through a quantitative analysis of the HARMONY architecture we establish its effectiveness in providing quality of service in mobile computing environments.

Abstract:
The overwhelming growth of resource-intensive and latency-sensitive applications trigger challenges in legacy systems of mobile cloud computing (MCC) architecture. Such challenges include congestion in the backhaul link, high latency, inefficient bandwidth usage, insufficient performance, and quality of service (QoS) metrics. The objective of this study was to find out the cost-efficient design that maximizes resource utilization at the edge of the mobile network which in return minimizes the task processing costs. Thus, this study proposes a cooperative mobile edge computing (coopMEC) to address the aforementioned challenges in MCC architecture. Also, in the proposed approach, resource-intensive jobs can be unloaded from users' equipment to MEC layer which is potential for enhancing performance in resource-constrained mobile devices. The simulation results demonstrate the potential gain from the proposed approach in terms of reducing response delay and resource consumption. This, in turn, improves performance, QoS, and guarantees cost-effectiveness in meeting users' demands.

Abstract:
For mobile computing system such as wearable computer, one of the most critical hardware issues is the provision of electric power. Various different sources of power for wearable computer have been investigated; however, we are interested only in power that can be generated in-situ, such as human power. This paper describes a novel mean of multiple source human power generation for small wearable electronic devices, and then demonstrates the digital information transfer between wearable computing devices by using human skin as "antenna". There are a wide range of peripheral devices in a mobile computing system, such as sensors and identification memory tags. As the amount of such devices increases in a mobile computing design, there is a need for these devices to communicate efficiently with the central processing unit. Also, it is highly desirable that these devices could be conveniently connected to the wearable computer without many dangling wires. We developed a personal area network (PAN) system which attempts to interconnect such devices, and at the same time uses human body as communication channel. This system is in a way novel because it is totally powered by human motion.

Abstract:
Cloud computing is becoming relevant due to increase in speed of Internet and reduction in its access cost. Desktop computing demands expensive hardware and software suits which become obsolete too often. Ownership of Personal Computers has always remained low in developing countries mainly due to its prohibitive cost. Alternate models of Computer usage like Public-Access Kiosks and low cost Laptops have been tried with limited success. Issues like security and privacy are major concerns in pubic computing. Laptops and other mobile devices lack required hardware support to run computing intensive applications. Increased penetration of Internet and mobile phones are providing new opportunities to bring computing closer to people. Cloud based Operating Systems are an effort in this direction. The present system, named MeghaOS, provides a framework for Desktop-like Operating System (OS) on a Web Browser. The Cloud becomes a metaphor for Operating System services accessed though Internet. Unlike traditional Operating System, MeghaOS can be accessed on any device having just a Web Browser. Since applications developed using this framework will be cached in Client’s machine, network utility will be low. Since data and applications are hosted remotely users can use them without transferring data into local device. MeghaOS provides scalable, multi-device compatible, browser accessible framework for Cloud based Operating System demonstrating next generation computing paradigm.

Abstract:
Today’s mobile processors generally have multiple cores and sufficient hardware resources to support AI-enabled software operation. However, very few AI applications make full use of the computing performance of mobile multiprocessors. This is because the typical software development is sequential, and the degree of parallelism of the program is very low. In the increasingly complex AI-driven and software development projects with natural human–computer interaction, this will undoubtedly cause a waste of mobile computing resources that are originally limited. This paper proposes an intelligent system software framework, CellS, to improve smart software development on multicore mobile processor systems. This software framework mimics the cell system. In this framework, each cell can autonomously aware changes in the environment (input) and reaction (output) and may change the behavior of other cells. Smart software can be regarded as a large number of cells interacting with each other. Software developed based on the CellS framework has a high degree of scalability and flexibility and can more fully use multicore computing resources to achieve higher computing efficiency.

Therefore, mobile learning is transforming the way of traditional education. However, as most current e-learning systems and their contents are not suitable for mobile devices, an approach for mobile devices to adapt to e-learning is presented. To provide device-independence mobile learning services, a context-aware mobile learning approach is proposed. Firstly, the formal definitions of contexts and their influence on mobile learning services, including device contexts NCxt, matrix of information transmission parameters S, the degree of influence of the context NCxt on information transmission parameters Q, and adaptation coefficient E, are given. Abstract:
With the development of the mobile Internet, smart mobile terminals have become an indispensable tool for people's lives and mobile applications are becoming more and more powerful. This research mainly discusses the dynamic resource allocation strategy of the mobile edge cloud computing environment. The physical resource layer in the network model is responsible for providing specific resources that are actually available, such as hardware resources, computing resources, storage resources, mainly including base stations, mobile edge computing servers, spectrum, power, and other communications of different infrastructure vendor basic components of the system. The functions of the virtual machine monitor include resource virtualization and resource management. As an important component of wireless network virtualization, virtual machine monitors are usually deployed in physical base stations to provide physical resources and to consider the connection between the virtual machine stations. The business of the business cache model is an application that is requested by users running on the mobile edge computing server or cloud at the base station. The computing task scheduling in the mobile edge environment can be classified as a wireless interaction model. This model captures the user throughput in cellular network interaction. The physical layer channel access strategy (CDMA) allows all mobile users to efficiently share the same spectrum resources at the same time. When the preference coefficient for task energy consumption varies between 0.35–0.55 and 0.65–1, the superior range of maximum system efficiency achieved by RAOM accounts for 55% of the entire range. This research contributes to the reasonable allocation of resources, and the mobile edge computing model improves the fairness of users with a lower transmission cost.

Abstract:
Energy efficiency optimization of mobile edge computing e-commerce clients and reasonable management of server computing resources are worth further study. The participant of the algorithm game model proposed in this paper is mobile e-commerce customer management. The decision space is a two-dimensional space composed of unloading decision and power control, and the benefit function is the energy efficiency function and delay function. The existence and uniqueness of the multidimensional game model are proved theoretically. The simulation results show that the proposed multidimensional game based energy efficiency optimization algorithm of mobile edge computing can reduce the energy consumption and delay of mobile terminals and improve the energy efficiency of unloading calculation under the same task compared with the game scheme without considering power consumption control when the number of e-commerce customer management is larger. This paper deduces the optimal load migration decision of mobile e-commerce customer management and the optimal pricing strategy of mobile edge cloud service providers and proves that the optimal decision and optimal pricing constitute the Starkberg equilibrium. The semidistributed and decentralized task transfer decision-making mechanisms are designed, respectively, and the management decision-making behaviors of mobile e-commerce customers in the mobile edge cloud energy trading market are studied by numerical analysis, as well as the time efficiency of the two mechanisms.

Abstract:
Purpose of research. The article deals with the adaptation of the algorithm of the extended Kalman filter for the integration of data from sensors of physical values of a mobile robotMethods. Integration of data is the process of information (data) fusion for determination or prediction of the state of an object. Integration provides increased robustness of robot control and accuracy of machine perception of information. This process is similar to repeated experiments in order to determine in direct and/or indirect ways the value of a physical quantity with the required accuracy. In the control system of a mobile robot, the integration of sensor data is carried out by one or more computing devices (for example, processors or microcontrollers) [1-5].Results. Advances in digital signal processing and image processing are based on new algorithms, increasing the speed of data processing by computing devices and increasing the speed of access to data stored in storage (storage devices) and the capacity of the latter. Computing devices also perform averaging and filtering of signals of individual sensors and their further matching. The problem of sustainable integration and processing of information from different measuring devices can be solved with the help of the Kalman filter algorithm. The Kalman linear filter algorithm and, in particular, the extended Kalman filter algorithm perform a large amount of computation in the course of their work. In comparison with the linear Kalman filter, the extended Kalman filter significantly increases the requirements for the computing power of the onboard computer (computing device, computer) of amobile robot.Conclusion. The main effect of integration is to obtain fundamentally new information that cannot be obtained from individual sensors. This approach relieves data channels of large (excessive) data flows coming directly from the sensors, and reduces the requirements for computing power of the computing device of the upper level of the structure of the mobile robot control system.

Abstract:
Mobile terminal applications with high computing complexity and high time delay sensitivity are developing quite fast today, which aggravates the load of mobile cloud computing and storage and further leads to network congestion and service quality decline. Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a way of breaking through the limits of computing and storage resources of mobile cloud and alleviating the load of mobile cloud. Computing time costs and transmission time costs are considered to be the main issues for the mobile cloud when carrying out computing offloading and data caching. Therefore, an efficient resource management strategy, which could minimize the system delay, is proposed in this paper. The new scheme offloads reasonably computing tasks and caches the tasks’ data from the mobile cloud to mobile edge computing-enabled base stations. An intelligence algorithm, genetic algorithm, is being used to solve the global optimization problem which would cause transmission delay and computing resources occupation, and to determine the computing offloading and data caching probability. The simulation of the system using MATLAB is conducted in 8 different scenarios with different parameters. The results show that our new scheme improves the system computing speed and optimizes the user experience in all scenarios, compared with the scheme without data caching and the scheme without computing offloading and data caching.

Mobile computing devices, such as tablets, smartphones, PDAs, and game remote controllers, become very popular in our daily life. This article discusses how to turn these devices, more specifically smartphones and Nintendo Wii remotes (in short as Wiimote), into computer remote controllers. In the smartphone-based system, a smartphone is extended to be the computer’s wireless keyboard and mouse. The smartphone and the computer talk to each other through either wireless Ad Hoc or Wi-Fi access point network. In the Wiimote-based system, a Wiimote is turned into computer’s mouse, where the user moves the mouse cursor by waving the Wiimote in air, and generates mouse events through Wiimote buttons. The Wiimote communicates with the computer through Bluetooth. These systems can be used in conference rooms, classrooms, project seminar rooms, and even people’s living rooms, where a projector screen or a big-screen TV serves as the computer monitor.

The emergence of computation-intensive vehicle applications poses a significant challenge to the limited computation capacity of on-board equipments. Mobile edge computing has been recognized as a promising paradigm to provide high-performance vehicle services by offloading the applications to edge servers. However, it is still a challenge to efficiently utilize the available resources of vehicle nodes. In this article, we introduce mobile edge computing technology to vehicular ad hoc network to build a vehicular edge computing system, which provides a wide range of reliable services by utilizing the computing resources of vehicles on the road. Then, we study the computation offloading decision problem in this system and propose a novel multi-objective vehicular edge computing task scheduling algorithm which jointly optimizes the allocation of communication and computing resources. Extensive performance evaluation demonstrates that the proposed algorithm can effectively shorten the task execution time and has high reliability.

Driven by the development of the Internet industry, mobile robots (MRs) technology has become increasingly mature and widely used in all walks of life. Since MRs are densely distributed in the network system, how to establish a reliable communication architecture to achieve good cooperation and resource sharing between MRs has become a research hotspot. In this respect, mobile edge computing (MEC) technology and millimeter wave (mmW) technology can provide powerful support. This paper proposes a mmW communication network architecture for distributed MRs in MEC environment. The mmW base station provides reliable communication services for MRs under the coverage of information cloud (IC). We design a joint resource and power allocation strategy aimed at minimizing network energy consumption. First, we use the Lyapunov optimization technique to transform the original infinite horizon Markov decision process (MDP) problem. Then, a semidistributed algorithm is introduced to solve the distributed optimization problem in the mmW network. By improving the autonomous decision-making ability of the mmW base station, the signaling overheads caused by information interaction are reduced, and information leakage is effectively avoided. Finally, the global optimal solution is obtained. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed strategy.

The last thirty years have seen tremendous growth in research in mobile telecommunications. However, interest in mobile computing, which includes mobile telephony and more, has increased over the last ten years. Nevertheless, most of the research on mobile computing addresses the "engineering" issues and the electronic componentary required for building mobile systems. On the other hand, algorithmics research in mobile computing is still in its infancy, and only dates back to few years. The elegance and terseness that exist today in algorithmics, especially parallel computing algorirthmics, can be brought to bear on research on "mobile computing algorithmics". However, mobility brings to the stage a whole gamut of new problems that needs to be addressed in order to develop new and efficient parallel algorithms that can be used to solve mobile computing problems.

Abstract:
Edge computing has become a promising solution to overcome the user equipment (UE) constraints such as low computing capacity and limited energy. A key edge computing challenge is providing computing services with low service congestion and low latency, but the computing resources of edge servers were limited. User task randomness and network inhomogeneity brought considerable challenges to limited-resource MEC systems. To solve these problems, the presented paper proposed a blocking- and delay-aware schedule strategy for MEC environment service workflow offloading. First, the workflow was modeled in mobile applications and the buffer queue in servers. Then, the server collaboration area was divided through a collaboration area division method based on clustering. Finally, an improved particle swarm optimization scheduling method was utilized to solve this NP-hard problem. Many simulation results verified the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. This method was superior to existing methods, which effectively reduces the blocking probability and execution delay and ensures the quality of the experience of the user.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a multi-user and multi-MEC scenario based on mobile edge computing to maximize the overall revenue to complete the task and proposes business guarantee and resource constraints as conditions to form the optimal task offloading resource allocation problem based on the Lyapunov mobile edge computing theory. Because this problem is NP-hard problem, decoupling is proposed as a solution to the channel resource allocation problem, which is solved by the KKT task allocation condition and the 0-1 integer programming problem. Aiming at the high-speed mobile terminal scene, a high-speed unloading algorithm is proposed, which explains the task unloading system model in the high-speed mobile terminal scene. The task offloading algorithm first allocates several subtasks according to the number of MEC servers and the remaining available resources of the MEC servers. At the same time, taking campus as an example, the English teaching classroom evaluation application uses the big data evaluation scale to complete the evaluation and uses statistical software to test the reliability of the evaluation results. Based on the analysis results, it summarizes and reflects on the education evaluation index system and puts forward suggestions for improving the evaluation system and implementing the English education guarantee mechanism. Abstract:
As a popular form of virtual reality (VR) media, omnidirectional video (OV) has been continuously developed in recent years. OV contains the view of the scene in every direction, which will ask for around 120 Mbps with 8k resolution and 25 fps (frames per second). Although there has been a lot of work to optimize the transmission for on-demand of OV, the research on the live streaming of OV is still very lacking. Another big challenge for the OV live streaming system is the huge demand for computing resources. The existing terminal devices are difficult to completely carry tasks such as stitching, encoding, and rendering. This paper proposes a mobile edge assisted live streaming system for omnidirectional video (MELiveOV); the MELiveOV can intelligently offload the processing tasks to the edge computing enabled 5G base stations. The MELiveOV consists of an omnidirectional video generation module, a streaming module, and a viewpoint prediction module. A prototype system of MELiveOV is implemented to prove its complete end-to-end OV live streaming service. Evaluation result demonstrates that compared with the traditional solution, MELiveOV can reduce the network bandwidth requirement by about 50% and the transmission delay of more than 70% while ensuring the quality of the user’s experience.

Abstract:
Mobile edge computing (MEC) is considered a promising technique that prolongs battery life and enhances the computation capacity of mobile devices (MDs) by offloading computation-intensive tasks to the resource-rich cloud located at the edges of mobile networks. In this study, the problem of energy-efficient computation offloading with guaranteed performance in multiuser MEC systems was investigated. Given that MDs typically seek lower energy consumption and improve the performance of computing tasks, we provide an energy-efficient computation offloading and transmit power allocation scheme that reduces energy consumption and completion time. We formulate the energy efficiency cost minimization problem, which satisfies the completion time deadline constraint of MDs in an MEC system. In addition, the corresponding Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions are applied to solve the optimization problem, and a new algorithm comprising the computation offloading policy and transmission power allocation is presented. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed scheme, with the optimal computation offloading policy and adapted transmission power for MDs, outperforms local computing and full offloading methods in terms of energy consumption and completion delay. Consequently, our proposed system could help overcome the restrictions on computation resources and battery life of mobile devices to meet the requirements of new applications.

Although the development of the mobile Internet and the Internet of Things has greatly promoted the progress and development of society, it has also created many problems for people on the road of scientific and technological exploration. In order to meet the problems and requirements of high bandwidth, high load, and low latency in the current network development, the emergence of the concept of mobile edge computing has attracted extensive attention from the academic community. This article focuses on the representative mode of mobile edge computing-fog computing (in this model, data, (data)processing, and applications are concentrated in devices at the edge of the network, instead of being stored almost entirely in the cloud). By applying it to the development and operation of basketball training system, it explores the performance of dynamic intelligent fog computing in intelligent end user services. This paper proposes a fog resource scheduling scheme based on linear weighted genetic algorithm, which converts the problem of multiobjective optimization into a single-objective optimization problem. When applying the genetic algorithm based on weighted sum, preference is given to delay, communication load, and service cost. Value is integrated into an objective function to perform genetic operations to get a better solution. From the experimental data, the system can support 20 DCTU terminals with a pressure request of 10 messages per second per terminal under the pressure environment created by the pressure test input data. The barrier-free transmission distance is 200 m, and the barrier transmission distance is 50 m. It has strong fault tolerance.
