Johansson, Nina. "Interbedömarreliabilitet i kodningsverktyget "Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity Code" 3.0 (MITI 3.0)." Thesis, Stockholm University, Department of Psychology, 2008. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:su:diva-8067.

Full textThe spectrum offered by an in-depth critical tradition is the concept used to define uses and appropriations of the Oswaldian Anthropophagy inaugurated by the Manifesto Antropófago of 1928. The proposed research comprises, in fact, an in-depth analysis of the multiple readings, critical and intellectual interpretations and artistic re-creations that have taken place incessantly since the rediscovery of Oswald de Andrade’s works in the 1950s. Beginning with an appreciation of the inherent ambiguities among the readings of the Anthropophagy and the main interpretative images that have long generated myths and stereotypes about Brazil, the multiple artistic and theoretical appropriations of the anthropophagic metaphor – from the Tropicalism fashionable in the 1960s to the latest psychoanalytic applications – are investigated to understand how Anthropophagy has been transformed into modernity and changed historical and political scenarios. This research is therefore not just an investigation of the Oswaldian writings, but rather an analysis of what Anthropophagy as an ethos as well as methodology for ethnography and cultural interaction has become since its rediscovery and their uncertain and ambiguous reception with the aim of making an analysis and to explore and elucidate the contemporary impasses generated by most recent appropriations.

Full textThis thesis aims at investigating, through two case studies, the reception of ancient myths, characters and themes into the Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-century musical theatre. During these two centuries, looking back to antiquity was a characteristic feature of the operatic genre, whose birth itself was inspired by the models of Greek tragedy and Aristotelian theory. Indeed, late Renaissance Italian scholars who created the first operas tried to resort to both ancient Greek music theory and performative aspects of ancient Greek drama, theorized above all in Aristotle’s Poetics: the result was a wholly new dramatic form. After a preliminary chapter discussing how both ancient and modern scholars have studied the relationship between the classical world and the Opera, the following chapters, which are the main body of this thesis, take into account the reception of two characters, Alcestis and Herakles. My analysis explores their reception, respectively, from antiquity to the operatic stage, thus dwelling on the Renaissance, as it was a pivotal period for the rediscovery of the ancient sources. Although the present dissertation is conceived both as a philological and musicological study, emphasis is placed on librettos and librettists rather than on the music. The aim is investigating which sources the Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-century librettos were based on – since during the Seventeenth century many librettists may have drawn inspiration from both Latin and Mythographic sources, not from a specific Greek drama – and how an ancient source had to been modified, also to comply with the musical theatre conventions. Moreover, it will be highlighted how an ancient drama could have been differently interpreted, depending on the cultural and historical background, especially when it had to be re-elaborated for a different dramatic genre as the operatic one.

Full textThe purpose of the present work is the analysis of the three “myths oft he underworld journey” which are included in Plato’s three dialogues: namely Gorgias, Phaedo and The Republic. The main goal is to re-define the role of eschatological myths within the platonic corpus, through an analytical study of the three passages in which these myths are included, whose aim is to reconstruct a comprehensive framework of their use, meanings and finalities, following Plato’s intents, while keeping the specific features of each passage and of each of the three dialogues in which the passages are included. Here the three passages are not only considered for their unique, even if evident, ethical and protreptic value, but also and above all they look at the recall that images can suggest in respect to important theoretical elements. The study follows the double path of the structural and conceptual analysis which do not constitute two different ways, but rather two complementary ways of dealing with the mythoi. However the present research is not to be thought as exclusively devoted to the analysis of the aforementioned specific passages, since, for completeness, it is correlated to the conceptual and structural analysis of the entire dialogues of which each passage is part of. In this way a “holistic cut” is given: the myths of the underworld journey bring back some of the cornerstones of Plato’s thinking, which are present not only in Gorgias, Phaedo and The Republic, but also in the entire work of the Athenian Philosopher. This work is structured into three main sections, one for each dialogue: I- The Gorgias. The Myth of Judgment; II- The Phaedo. The Fate of Souls; III-The Republic. The Choice. In each part there is: a status quaestionis through which the main hermeneutical key points which are developed around the myth are summarized; the analysis of the content of the passage, with a wide study of the sources that gave Plato the inspiration for the construction of the mythical image; the analysis of the formal structure of the three passages themselves; the definitions of the theoretical cores and of the overall structure of each dialogue. Each analysis is punctually interspersed with recaps and reflections whose purpose is that to keep the global view, this being necessary in order to follow the studies particulars. The structural analysis, which is complementary to that of the conceptual cores, enlightens the role played by the myths of the underworld journey, which can be fully considered integral parts of the dialogues to which they belong and “serious parts” of the speech. Since they are to be seen as narrations capable to encompass and synthesize, at a glance, the principal theoretical issues present in each dialogue, give in this way a full overview of the covered topics. Mythos and logos, after all, say the same things.

Full textThe research activity carried out in this PhD thesis concerns art. 21-octies, par. 2, l. no. 241/1990. Starting from the observation that much has been said and written on this topic in order to identify and clarify the interpretative and applicative issues underlying the implementation of the disposition in question, it appears useful, from a theoretical and practical point of view, to examine, a decade after its entry into force, how this provision finds an actual application inside the national legal system and which issues rise in practice in the current legislation. For this reason, the research is, in the first part, empirical (Chapter I), with the double purpose of identifying on the basis of the case-law of the administrative courts: a) the field of application of the provision (putting forward an interpretative reconstruction of the procedural handling of the failure to state reasons and the lack of competence); b) investigating the modalities through which the causal judgment is performed and the relationship deriving from it between the judge and the administration. The research was then extended to the case-law of the Court of Justice about the violation of substantial forms (Chapter II). From the investigation has emerged that the European procedural structure is not characterized in a necessary protective way when compared to the one of our national system and it seems not possible to derive principles or rules that, if shifted to a national level, would preclude the effectiveness of the causal judgment pursuant to art. 21-octies, par. 2, l. no. 241/90, as implemented by the national administrative jurisprudence. Such conclusion has been corroborated by the analysis of some recent Court of Justice rulings, made on references for a preliminary ruling involving art. 21-octies, par. 2, l. no. 241/90 (and provisions with an equivalent content), with reference to the violation of both the right of the defense and the right to reasoned decisions. A further food for thought has been extracted from the comparison with the Dutch legal system (Chapter III) thanks to an analysis of the path of reforms, here recently addressed in order to identify a correct balance between the safeguard of procedural guarantees and an effective judicial protection, inside a frame supported by the rule of law and the principle of separation of powers. The empirical data gathered on the national and European sides are eventually organized and coordinated in a wider theoretical system (Chapter IV) to asses if the fears grown over time, also in relation to the compliance of art. 21-octies, par. 1, l. no. 241/90 with the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights, show or not, today, an actual consistency, and to propose, de iure condendo, procedural tools that allow the national administrative judge to make the best use of the potentialities of art. 21-octies, par. 1, l. no. 241/90 while observing the principle of separation of powers and the effectiveness of legal protection.

Full textThe present research focuses on the reception of the fabulæ of Hero and Leander and of Pyramus and Thisbe in Seventeenth-century Italian literature, in particular in four texts differing by genre, style and geographical origin: the idyll of Giovanni Capponi, Gli amori infelici di Ero e Leandro (1618); the ‘favola maritima’ Hero e Leandro (1630) and the ‘lieta favola’ La Tisbe by Francesco Bracciolini; and the ‘dramma per musica’ Il Leandro by Badovero-Pistocchi (1679). The decision to place the two myths in close relationship with each other was inspired by some remarks found in authoritative historical-philological studies on the origin of the ancient Greek novel and the Greek novella (Rodhe 1876, Lavagnini 1921, Cataudella 1957) where the two fabulæ are cited as examples of proto-novels for the insistent recurrence in them of topoi proper to the Hellenic novel. Starting from an accurate thematic-rhetorical analysis of the 'common heritage', or rather, of the 'Hellenic-romance nucleus' belonging to the classic versions of reference (Mus.; Ov., Her. 18-19; Ov. Met., IV, 55-166), the course of the research in modern rewritings in question follows three main coordinates: verification of the idea of correspondence between the two myths, already found in the ancient, medieval and Renaissance versions, and identification of the ways in which it is expressed in seventeenth-century texts; analysis of the processes of rewriting the myth within the new Baroque metamorphoses and the new stage hybrids, both in reference to the interaction between the 'Hellenic-romance nucleus', tragic inheritance and influences of the idyllic and pastoral genre, as well as in regard to the relationship between Hellenic and Baroque romance; focus on the hermeneutic aspect within which to read the new meaning assumed by the myth: clementia or sententia for the two couples of lovers?

Abstract: The research on creative process owns as its main foundation the investigation of two principles found repeatedly in the feminine mythology - to receive and to nourish, within three phases of human development - taking as reference the Greek Myth of Gaia - Goddess of Mother Earth and the Myth of Adonis. In this sense, it proposes an artistic process of body construction through a poetic study of the mentioned principles related to the myth. The path of investigation began through involuntary images expression that overwhelmed the researcher in several dimensions, such as: dreams, drawings, ceramic pieces, paintings, dance and theater. In this way, the process took place until it revealed the aiming question of the research - how to engender knowledge from an artistic process? Therefore the purpose of body creation and expression about the theme in the research aimed towards the perspective of sensitive and reality-modifying knowledge.

Full textThis is a reserch that has as its axis the relationship between the rite and mith: the existent embodiment in this intersection and its relationship with the theater. From the acquisition of knowledge, study and practice of ritualistic dances and mythology of deities (minkisi) as archetipal figures from Candomble of Angola arises embodiment to be exploited by actor/performer in and for scene. This research is inserted into Anthropology of Performance, drawing upon studies by Schechner na Turner on the restoration of behavior through the transmission, manipulation and transformation of the rite and mith in the artistic process and also in Anthropology of Embodiment with Thomas Csorda´s approach on the body which is the subject of the culture and not only the object of this culture. From the experience of bodies-fictitious arisen from deities emerges the Actor-Sacrarium, as a receptacle of this culture. The research was carried out in practice with a group of Professional and amateur actors, in a conscious way and without religious trance, in which it was obtained the development Record of efficient potencies in and for improvising from this acquired embodiment.

Full textThe appropriation of biblical and classical myths in the first works of Salvador Espriu, from Israel (1929) to Antígona (1939), responds to the author’s basic worries on those years and it evolves according to those concerns. Besides, the opposite ideas of light and restlessness are references to explain the work of mythological remaking and, in general, the studied works and the evolution existing among them. So it is shown in the analysis of these texts: Israel (particularly, the introductory “Portada” and the chapters dedicated to biblical characters of Jael, Ruth, Eli, Abigail, Abisag, Solomon and Jezabel); Aspectes (particularly, the preliminary prose and the stories “Auca tràgica i mort del Plem”, “Novembre. Diada de difunts”, “Orestes” and “Neguit”, in which the myths of Judith, Hephaestus, Orestes and Nausicaa/Ulysses are remade); Ariadna al laberint grotesc (particularly, the preliminary prose about Ariadne, and the stories “Psyche”, “Nabucodonossor” and “Mirra”); the play Fedra, a version to Catalan from the homonymous Spanish work of Llorenç Villalonga; the “nouvelle” Fedra, which is a re-elaboration of the previously refered work, and Antígona (the version of 1939, published in 1955). The analysis considers the classical, modern and contemporany literary tradition associated to each myth, as well as the contaminations applied by the author with works of the Catalan modernists (especially Joaquim Ruyra, Víctor Català and Joan Maragall) or from the universal literature (especially Edgar Allan Poe, but also Gabriele D’Annunzio or Ivan Turguénev). The methodology of this analysis is the theory of transtextuality established by Gérard Genette in Palimpsestes (1982), in which this critic sets up a typology of the modifications that an author can make on the previous texts of reference. This typology is useful to understand the extent and the orientation of the re-elaborations of Espriu. In addition, a study is made on the autor’s thematic obsessions, especially in two critic moments in the construction of his works. On the one hand, the “nouvelle” Fedra can be read as a synthesis of the themes of the Espriu’s prose of the thirties: the universal decadence, the love as a domination and as a mirage, the aim that persecutes itself, the shynthesis of opposites, the image of the Sun and the survival in the company of art. On the other hand, in the tragedy of Antígona, some of these subjects are revisited but some new ones are also developed, which will be very relevant in the farther development of the works of Espriu: the fratricidal war, the compassion, the absolute power and the love to the city.

Full textThe narratives Dois irmãos and Órfãos do Eldorado, by Milton Hatoum, are surrounded by the river ambience, a fluid, deep and watery space which represents the limit between life and death. The river, mythical scenery, turned symbolic to the fictional plot of the narratives, can also be understood metaphorically as the most intimate and profound of the human being, where the characters are taken to an immersion, into a look at themselves. Therefore, this space is made of transcendence, allowed by a jogging into someones memory, which is dynamic, instable and fluid as the rivers. On the books of Hatoum, we have first person narrators who are dedicated to recompose the timeline through the reporting facts, creating a lonesome process about the memory. They make a search into the mans inner self and they discover their fragile human condition. On a cathartic work and by a way of self-reflection brought by the memory, they found themselves as strangers because on this reconstruction of their own history, the subject is based on the present tense. Due to this, the time axis of the narration is present-past. On this way, it is important to comprehend that memorization requires strategies. The tales, ritual acts, myths, fables, all of them make part of this group of strategies which transmit from a generation to the next one the reality of the people throughout images and symbols in different space and time. It is clear the narrators of Dois irmãos and Órfãos do Eldorado tell personal stories, but they do through the elements around the individual and collective memory, all of them permeated by the ambience where they are in. Therefore, we understand that studying the memory is to study the culture and the lived history of each subject and each group they are in. When it is plausible that the memory of an individual is also the memory of his/her region and the memory of the groups they are an essential part, it is substantial to consider the memory process as a collective construction. It means the individual memory is a part of a collective memory. Thereby, on the texts which are analyzed, it is throughout the memory tissue which space and time put it together, on a place a river is between two narrated worlds

Full textThe purpose of this doctoral thesis is to propose an interpretive reading of \"Buriti\" by João Guimarães Rosa. In order to understand the typical narrative eroticism, theme of this thesis, it investigates the way the narrative space is constituted as well as its mythical character. An ex-centric space, full of possibilities, there is occasion for questioning practices and principles related to the sexual morality of the Brazilian patriarchal society, in hybrid plot between the planes of mith and history. The study of the elements of nature and its erotic valuation, considering its relationship with the characters and the plot development is the starting point. Since the most obvious elements, such as the Buriti Grande (Great Buriti) or the Brejo do Umbigo (Navel Heath), even those who seem mere accessories, reveal the sexualization process of nature undertaken by the author, especially in flora and backwoods soil, constituting the \"body of the night\" . From text directions, the night, the moon and the curassow, as well as its relationship to the Brazilian Indians mythology are also the focus of the analysis. Considering the filiation \"by male line\"of the children of the hinterland, the notion of totemism, taken from the structural anthropology, mediates the study of the meeting between the representatives of two family clans typical of Rosa\'s fiction, Maria da Gloria, Buritis daughter and Miguel, the curassow, considering that these characters bring in their name, the brand of the hinterland. Finally, the repeated references to the body of characters and their \"erotic territories,\" homologous to the body of nature, are analyzed in their relevance for the marking of critical points of the narrative. The approach favours the stylistic marks and employs, in specific moments, some psychoanalysis contributions.

Over the last four years, I realized short essays dealing with my working process and a series of paintings on the theme of the city and its dwellers. Concepts, such as absorption, fluidity, deformation, transformation, transit, approaching, distancing, motion and stillness pass through the text and the painting. The embodiment of these thoughts occurs by means of an exhibition of the works done in the period.

Full textThe main objective of this work is to reveal how brands give meaning to consumption by using mythological narratives in their communication strategy. When they multiply statements in communication, they insinuate thousands of potential universes and become the most impressive creation machine of collective human imaginary. At the same time, in the middle of a contemporary subjectivity crisis, it is also being discussed the human being singularity process. Therefore, this study has the communication targeted for consumption as object, and will analyse how expressions affect the desiring being as a receptor of produced subjectivity; it will identify how brands appropriate mythological aspects of narratives in the communication strategy; and finally, it will investigate the consumption as a ritual that links the reality with the virtual world proposed in advertising communication. Authors such as Guattari and Deleuze are being referenced in order to explain the singularity concept and the contemporary subjectivity crisis we are living in. After linking them with an explanation towards the concept of desire, it will be understood the structure of mythological narratives. By means of Campbell and Eliade it will be seen how symbolic expressions still have the power to bring meaning to day-to-day life. Ultimately, it will be explained how brands use mythological devices to influence people in their daily consumption decisions; how brands take their own products to territorialize their conceptual universe and how they create a ritual mechanism to link reality and potentiality affecting and being affected by human being

Full textNowadays scholars are still discussing the myth's role in Plato's work. This paper aims to provide a basis in order to establish what the epistemological value of myth in Plato is and what was his communication strategy. The dialogue form is part of this strategy and the correct interpretation of the myth is crucial to properly assess the full platonic staging. The myth is extremely heterogeneous in Plato's work. In addition, Plato was well aware that to different types of discourses correspond different communication techniques. For this reason, he used various mechanisms to influence their audiences intending to create a new genre that imposed to the different civical discourses and capable of political influence. If we assume that the dialogues are literary texts where myth introduces issues of vital importance, we must clarify the epistemological status reserved by Plato to the myth, since it seems to contain a truth value closely related to its rhetorical dimension and its communicative effectiveness . We defend as well that Platonic dialogues sometimes move beyond the limits of his school. In these cases, myths, where the message is completely controlled by the sender and the code was shared by the community, become overriding. Although the atmosphere of Plato's school was the one effectively depicted in the early dialogues (limited audience, question- answer method), we think that the strategy to reach other audiences were not always the same. Therefore, we propose to study not only the myth but its relationship with the dialogue form, the political frame and the historical moment in which the new writing technique is being assumed. Finally, we propose to adopt a definition of "myth" that applies to the whole Platonic work, to define the role that we concede to oral and writting in Plato's decision to use dialogue and ultimately to provide a useful framework for the study of myth, its epistemological value and its communicative function inside the dialogue and Plato's philosophy.

Full textThis work aimed the production of a small equipment, multi-functional, lowcost and useful for chemical engineering and chemistry areas. Regarding the chemical engineering area samples are handled in miniaturized devices having common unit operations such as mixing, spray forming and removing particles. In chemistry, the pretreatment of gaseous samples and detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) could be made. The methodology followed the protocols for production equipment. The equipment designed and built features three distinct parts with the following characteristics. Samples can be liquid or gaseous, they can be admitted or continuous flow or stationary mode. The manipulation of miniaturized devices, such as minimixers occurs in three distinct axes, which allows the use of three-dimensional devices. For all samples the detection is based on quartz microbalance with 5 piezoelectric quartz crystals (PQC) the online data are acquired by measuring simultaneously and independently. As for gaseous samples, it is possible the VOCs detection in the ppm range and miniaturized device (mini manifold) to flow evenly distribution in 5 PQCs. Through the use of spray it is possible to detect gases, liquids and particulates. The sensing component in PQCs is thin film deposited by plasma and the base of HMDS hexamethyldisilazane. These films were modified by exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVC) and ion beam (Ar+ or He2+) films after exposure were more efficient in the discrimination of VOCs. The equipment was built with conventional production methods, such as, machining with machine tools such as lathes and milling machines,, and parts and pieces of easy acquisition in the domestic market.
