Full textThe dramaturgy and the performance of history do not consist in the making up of theatrical categories able to represent the historical events. Theater reconstructs the real, and in the meantime endows it with new interpretations. That is to say that once dramatized the historical fact is divested of its immediacy. It becomes something quantitatively different that belongs to another reality. History appears as the protagonists, the comedians and the men of all times see it. The historical theater isn't then a simple narration related to the linearity of the plot, but rather a narration related to the polyphony of the scenic performance where the fictional and the real intermingle to the point of confusion

Full textTraumatized by the Civil War, censored by the Franco regime which compelled him to go into exile, befriended by Castile and the city of Salamanca, José Martín Recuerda wished to end his days in Salobreña, a small village in his motherland, Andalusia. That region and Spain were his sources of inspiration and became the protagonists of his plays where the presence of female characters is predominant, as paradigms of Greek tragedy heroines. He was famous as a playwright, whereas his work as a director war far too underrated. Yet it was in revisiting the works of the Spanish classical repertoire and the Greek tragedy, in pursuit of his search for unusual settings for his productions, while taking into account the historical and political upheavals his country was experiencing, that he enriched his own works. Few studies have been devoted to the way directors have viewed things when tackling the staging of some of his plays, this also justifies our research. "Las salvajes en Puente San Gil", "Las arrecoǵias del Beaterio de Santa Maŕia Egipćiaca" and "La Trotski" are complementary in their themes. They also respond to an evolution of his dramatic art and scenography, closely connected with the hazards of his own life as well as those of Spanish society. Their stagings by professional companies, reconstructed after collecting photos and video recordings of the performances, make it possible to analyse the director's tasks, the difficulties they faced and the esthetic points of view they chose in order to stage them

Full textThe objective of this thesis is to analyse the use of information technologies in the locations of the World Wars (Verdun, the Somme, Normandie, Alsace, the Vercors, Oradour-sur-Glane). Their recurrent insertion since the 1990s has participated in the transformation of memorial sceneries. The locations are gradually communicated by new structuring of territories, image strategies, a redefinition of exposure, and architecture used as a media. These different levels of modification influence the perception of these spaces and play on visitors experiences and the reconstitution of historical event. The information and communication technologies provide a mediation between the visitor and their perceptions. This research has also allowed us to underline the intricate game of past/present. These technologies are representative of the present and yet they had to combine with the past

At the beginning of the year's 20, the competition of new forms of leisure like cinema or sport, the transformation of public's taste and als the costs of high management and restoration cause the sale or the abandonment of these secular theatres. In Florence, the Academy of lmmobili is the las1 to yield the step and to seIl his theatre with the Ente Teatrale ltaliano in Odober 1942. The stake of this thesis is thus to rebuild the motivations intemal, political, cultural and economical which involved the change of the Academy of lmmobili and the management style of the theatre of the Pergola in 1942. The motivations cannot been understood without a thorough study of the Academy of lmmobili and various difiiculties that this one went though during the ventennio fascistà. It is thus a question of undersbnding how a cultural institution with a so long and prestigious history, is modernized and makes a succes of its change in the long teim in 1942

Full textThis work aims to question the omnipresence of melodrama in South Korean cinema, in order to identify the powers of the genre in the constantly changing fabric of a common imagination. It is a question of approaching melodrama according to the intertextual space that the works trace in order to detect the power relations – socio-historical, political, transnational – which are deployed at the heart of the forms that it takes or resumes during its history. We analyze the conditions that favored its emergence from the beginnings of cinema in Korea, question its conformist and subversive potential in contact with censorship, and its constant reinvention in a composite cinema, made of perpetual exogenous reappropriations. It is also a question of establishing a dialectic with the History of the country as well as of cinema, through the use of metaphors and allegories, and by the transformation of History into filmic material that nourishes the national imagination
