Full textSolar energy, a sustainable and non-polluting alternative to fossil fuels, gains momentum with enhanced materialproperties. This study proposes a novel approach for composite solar receiver materials, integrating an absorptionlayer and a thermal conductive substrate. Various powders, including AlN, α-SiC, Cu, stainless steel, CaO (micron, submicron, and nano-scale), β-SiC, γ-Al2O3, and carbon black, were explored. Innovative solvent-free processes andheat-treatment-free techniques were introduced for powder mixing and coating. Pellets, produced by spark plasmasintering, include AlN with CaO additives, α-SiC with CaO and Al2O3 additives, Cu with β-SiC, and stainless steel. Solarabsorber material deposition utilized carbon black. The self-constructed solar simulator assessed energy absorptionand heat transfer efficiency. Finite element method simulated radiative and conductive heat transfer in compositeporous pellets. Geometric shapes aligned with pellet structures for accurate comparisons. The Picomix provedsuperior to traditional ball milling for preparing mixed powders, offering a solvent-free and eco-friendly approach.Achieving a thermal conductivity of 135.3 W/m∙K, the AlN pellet with 3 wt% nano CaO at 5000 rpm rotational speedexceled. Dry-coating β-SiC by Picomix effectively reduced Cu oxidation while maintaining high thermal conductivity, presenting a promising anti-oxidation treatment. Adding 9 wt% Al2O3 and CaO to α-SiC elevated its pellet thermalconductivity to 114 W/m∙K. Under the solar simulator's high radiative heat flux, AlN-additive with carbon layercomposites and α-SiC-additive pellets exhibited enhanced solar energy absorption and heat transfer. Modeling resultsunderscored the combined influence of thickness, porosity, and thermal conductivity on porous pellet heat transfer. For pellets with thickness below 50 mm, porosity less than 0.3, and thermal conductivity surpassing 100 W/m∙K, heattransfer efficiency remained comparable. The solar absorption layer's thickness significantly impacted compositeporous pellet heat transfer rate. Solar absorber material’s thermal conductivity minimally affected solar energyabsorption and heat transfer efficiency beyond 50 W/m∙K. Diverse geometric model configurations yieldedcomparable simulation outcomes

Full textHot-melt coating by fluidised bed consists of delivering molten lipids onto surface of substrate particles in suspension and let them solidify with air-cooling. The process is evidently solventless and therefore time-, cost-efficient and eco-friendly. Lipids constitute a generally-regarded-as-safe class of excipients. Despite those advantages, challenges reside in the fact that their physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties have not been thoroughly investigated. This thesis dealt with these challenges by considering manufacturability, product stability and release properties. In the first phase “formulation development”, a simple and nimble experimental approach was developed for process and product characterisation in early stage. NaCl, as active substance, allows for fast-track research conduct. With their diverse properties (e.g. complex-mixture vs. pure substance, polymorphism and crystallisation, adaptability to different processing approaches), beeswax, tristearin and trilaurin were chosen as coating materials under research. Additive addition was indispensable and additives of different types were tested with those three lipid systems: (I) polysorbates, (II) sorbitans, (III) vitamin E TPGS and (IV) talc. Besides, several physical and in vitro characterisation techniques have been established, for instance, for rapid screening of solid lipid-additive combinations, in situ monitoring of polymorphic transformation and crystal growth, coupling of digestion and release testing in biologically simulated media. In the second phase “pharmaceutical applications”, three beeswax-, tristearin- and trilaurin-based formulations were selected for coating amorphous solid dispersions of praziquantel. The objectives are (i) to study bioaccessibility of the amorphous active substance coated with lipids of varying digestibility and (ii) to investigate long-term stability of these hot-melt coated products. In conclusion, selection of good additives is important for development of solid lipid-based formulated products. In effect, they can improve productivity of coating operations as well as product performance (stability, release profile)

Full textThe interest of these cosmetic formulations is to create a gel forming oxidation hair dyes without ammonia. First, we have study the physiology and anatomy of hair, and cosmetic raw materials, to formulate cosmetic preparations for permanent or semi-permanent waves shampoo and other hair cares. Second, we have studied existing colorations direct or permanent, to learn the technical way to prepare hair dying products, and the interactions between the intermediates. We have formulate a liquid base witch can be a gel form in presence of an hydrogen peroxide solution (6%). A least, we try to substitute ammonia by another alkalising agent in this type of colouring products, decreasing the toxicological impact

Full textIn recent years, new methods named Meshfree methods have been developed to surmount limitations of the finite element method. The main characteristic of these methods is to not employ any pre-defined mesh: they use a set of nodes scattered within the problem domain as well as sets of nodes scattered on the boundaries of the domain. A particular attention is paid to the RPIM method, which proposes a nodal interpolation. The followed steps are: a presentation of « Meshfree methods » and their advantages compared to the traditional methods, an introduction to the meshfree RPIM method with a calibration of its associated parameters, and finally, a discussion on results obtained with the RPIM in forming processes exhibiting initiation and propagation of a crack showing the interest of the approach

Full textTransport of waves plays an important role in modern communication systems like Wi-Fi or optical fibres. Typical problems in such systems concern security against possible intruders, energy consumption, time efficiency and the possibility of mode filtering. Microwave experiments are suited to study this kind of problems, because they offer a good control of the experimental parameters. Thus we can implement the method of wave shaping to investigate atypical transport phenomena, which address the mentioned problems. Wave front shaping solely based on the transmission together with the Wigner-Smith time delay formalism allows me to establish special scattering states in situ. These scattering states avoid a pre-selected region, focus on a specific spot or follow trajectories of classical particles, so called particle-like scattering states. Mode filtering is induced inside a waveguide with wavy boundaries and position dependent loss. The boundary profiles are chosen in such a way that the two propagating modes describe an encircling of an exceptional point in the Bloch picture. The asymmetric mode filtering is found due to the appearing non-adiabatic transitions. Another part of my work deals with Grover’s quantum search. I put such a search into practice in a two-dimensional graphene-lattice using coupled resonators, which form a tight-binding analogue. In this proof of principle experiment we search for different resonators attached to the graphene-lattice. Furthermore, the scaling behaviour of the quantum search is quantified for a linear chain of resonators
