During an era when the Seminoles were little regarded in Florida, despite mass Indian reform nationwide, Minnie Moore-Willson of Kissimmee and Ivy Stranahan of Fort Lauderdale attempted to bring reform to the state. Living amongst members of the tribe, both women used their familiarity with Seminole life and practices, as well as their political and social connections, to enact change for the tribe. This was done, respectively, through the creation of reservations and attempting to increase educational and vocational opportunities for tribe members. This thesis examines the lives and activism of Minnie Moore-Willson and Ivy Stranahan over the first two decades of the twentieth century and details their attempts to reform federal and state policies towards Seminoles in Florida. It illustrates the relationships of the women with each other, the Seminoles, and political power brokers in early twentieth century Florida, and attempts to determine their motivations. In doing so, the thesis argues that, though often ignored in the historiography of Seminoles in Florida, these women served as key figures in enacting Seminole-related reforms during the era. Examining Moore-Willson and Stranahan's lives and works affords a greater understanding of how non-Seminole women conceptualized and carried out Florida reform efforts and provides a new perspective for evaluating the early stages of Florida Seminole reform and comparable efforts in other areas of the United States.<br>M.A.<br>Masters<br>History<br>Arts and Humanities<br>History

The problem of this study was the identification of selected characteristics of Minnie Stevens Piper Professors. Purposes of the study were: (a) to determine characteristics of Minnie Stevens Piper Professors, and (b) to determine whether these professors possess characteristics which typify outstanding college teachers as described by the Selection Research, Incorporated College Teacher Perceiver interview. Forty subjects, 20 from community colleges and 20 from senior colleges, were randomly selected from the 1978 through 1988 lists of Piper Professors. Fifteen community college and 11 senior college professors agreed to participate by being interviewed with the College Teacher Perceiver. This interview identified 13 characteristics, or themes, of excellent college teachers.

I examine the theory of fractured history and alternate history, two examples of how perception of the past is completely altered when the science of reality is merged with imagination and mystery. As a vehicle for this examination, I use my own family history, something I am familiar with on many levels but also completely foreign to. As a curator of the story of my own history, I ask, "How can we know what is real?" and "If I say it is real, does that make it so?"

The 2005 National survey indicates that 30,2 % of South African pregnant women are
HIV positive. The risk of transmission to their infants is about 30% unless prevention
interventions are applied. The Nevirapine regime, safe intraparturn practices and safe
infant feeding methods could limit the risk of mother-tochild transmission to 7%.
Antiretroviral treatment is available to women who can afford it and women who qualify
for subsidised medication. However, HlV positive women and their infants can only
benefit from these strategies when their HIV status is known. Yet only about 50% of
pregnant women consent to HIV testing after counselling. Contextual factors,
organisational circumstances and pregnant women's personal circumstances determine
whether they are tested.
This research aimed to develop best practice guidelines for pretest counselling during
pregnancy. This was achieved through four objectives: exploring and describing the
factors that influence pregnant women's decision to be tested in selected antenatal
clinics in the North West Province, identifying the factors that influence HIV counselling
during pregnancy according to counsellors who practice in these clinics, exploring the
current practices regarding counsellir&! for HIV testing during pregnancy in the selected
clinics, investigating research evidence regarding counselling for HlV testing during
pregnancy by means of systematic review and finally developing best practice guidelines
for counselling for HIV testing during pregnancy.
The research followed specific steps that consisted of two phases. Phase 1 was
subdivided into four steps that related to the first four objectives and compiled evidence
towards formulating best practice guidelines in phase 2. Data-collection methods
included semi-structured interviews, semi-structured observation and a systematic
review.
Phase 1's conclusions were integrated and synthesised as base for developing best
practice guidelines in Phase 2. These guidelines were graded and recommendations for
implementation were formulated. Finally, the research was evaluated, limitations were
identified and recommendations were formulated for nursing practice, education and -

In the present study we aim to further our understanding of charged particle transport in a magnetized
medium. To this end, we perform direct numerical simulations of particle transport in
a turbulent magnetic field. From the particle trajectories we calculate diffusion and drift coefficients.
In contrast to previous numerical simulations of this nature, we also consider a background
magnetic field that contains a gradient perpendicular to the magnetic field direction. By
using a non-uniform background magnetic field, we can investigate the simultaneous large scale
drift due to the gradient in the background magnetic field and the diffusion due to the turbulence
which is superimposed on this background magnetic field. Upon comparison with the
simulated diffusion coefficients, the newly proposed weakly non-linear theory (WNLT) of Shalchi
et al. (2004b) seems to be the most appropriate theory for the simultaneous description of parallel and
perpendicular diffusion over a wide range of fluctuation amplitude and particle rigidity. As
for the effect of large scale drift on perpendicular diffusion, we find that under conditions of
small amplitude turbulence and/ or high particle rigidity the transport perpendicular to the background
field can exhibit super-diffusive behaviour. Diffusive behaviour seems to be recovered for
the cases when the turbulence amplitude is sufficiently large and/ or the particle rigidity is sufficiently
small. We furthermore find that both the drift coefficient and the drift speed are reduced
from their weak scattering counterparts in the presence of scattering, with the reduction becoming
more pronounced with increasing turbulence amplitude. For the drift coefficient in particular,
the reduction from its weak scattering counterpart behaves differently for the cases in which the
background magnetic field is either uniform or non-uniform. For the former case the reduction is
predominantly at small rigidities, while for the latter case the reduction is predominantly at large
rigidities. The latter result might be of significance for heliospheric modulation models in which
the background magnetic field is highly non-uniform. Finally, we use a two-dimensional steadystate
cosmic ray modulation model to see how our improved understanding of the underlying
transport processes influences the overall cosmic ray modulation in the heliosphere. We conclude
that in the absence of a theory which connects large scale drift with small scale diffusion, any
statements about the inadequacy of a two-dimensional steady-state modulation model might be

“Hold for Investigation”: Minnie Atkins and the Contestation of Indigeneity in the Twentieth Century The United States Government prosecuted Minnie Atkins, a Yuchi-Creek woman, over a land dispute beginning in 1914. The Government questioned the legality of Atkins’ ownership of former Creek tribal land allotted to Thomas Atkins. This seemingly useless piece of land had generated both public and private interest as it was located within the bounds of the highly lucrative Cushing Oil Field. Over the course of near a decade, Minnie Atkins not only was forced to defend her rights as an American private landowner protected under the laws of the United States, but also her identity as a Native woman with tribal rights and her status as the mother of Thomas Atkins. This paper examines Minnie Atkins’ life and experiences within the context of the United States’ settler colonial project. It reveals that allotment, as a tool of setter colonialism, served to commodify “Indianness.” The case United States of America vs. Minnie Atkins, et al. (Equity – 2131) reveals that the United States’ settler colonial project created a dangerous paradox in which Atkins asserted her indigeneity as she called upon the American legal system to protect her rights as an American landowner. “I would not say she was of negro blood; she looks very like an Indian”: Discourses of Race and Indigeneity in United States of America vs. Minnie Atkins In the first quarter of the twentieth century, the case United States of America vs. Minnie Atkins, et al. (Equity – 2131) had become the topic of much debate both inside and outside of the courtroom. As much as the case was a both property and wealth, it was about race. Lawyers, national newspapers, and the general public alike debated whether or not Minnie Atkins was an “Indian,” and whether or not as such she was entitled to legally inherit former Creek tribal land that had been allotted to her son, Thomas Atkins. This paper examines a selection of witnesses’ statements presented to the United States Court of Appeals. These statements reveal popular notions at the time relied on malleable, social phenomena to determine biological race though it was supposedly fixed. Witness statements also highlight the extent to which the white-black binary structured America’s racial discourse, as well as how malleable conceptions of race imposed on individuals such as Minnie Atkins. Officially, the United States Government had placed Minnie Atkins on trial over her claims to Thomas Atkins’ allotted lands, however, the case reveals indigeneity itself was on trial within a settler colonial framework further complicated by the white-back binary.

This thesis contains a set of studies analysing the idiotechne, or individual playing style, of three pioneering female popular guitar players: Maybelle Carter (1909-1978); Memphis Minnie (1897-1973); and Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915-1973). The main aim of the thesis is to identify and examine how these seminal artists operated within, and contributed to, their respective genres and in so doing, expand the current field of idiotechne studies of guitarists in American popular music. An examination of these particular players will also contribute to a more comprehensive and gender-inclusive history of the instrument. The study begins with a critical review of the relevant scholarly literature surrounding the popular guitar, an introduction to the main subjects, and a discussion of the analytical methods used within the study. The thesis offers a framework for popular guitar idiotechne analysis, based on Moore’s theories of idiolect identification (2005; 2012), in particular the assessment of a player’s interaction within, and beyond, their stylistic context. As such, the study of each player in this thesis is supported by relevant historical sources (Boyer 1979; Evans 1982; 2001; Heilbut 2002; Malone 2010), in order to demonstrate how these players operated within their styles, as well as introduced approaches that were later adopted within general guitaristic and musical practice. The three main chapters of the thesis contain extensive technical analyses supported by original transcriptions. Key attributes for each player are identified and examined, including 1) Maybelle Carter’s modular comping patterns, integrated thumb-lead style, and melodic shadowing, 2) Memphis Minnie’s melodic mapping, master and seed riffs, and creative engagement with call-and-response, and 3) Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s active comping, master chords and riffs, and musical and performative gestures. The final section of the thesis reviews the main findings of the project, and offers suggestions for further research.

<p> In the South, as William Faulkner famously observed in his 1951 novel <i> Requiem for a Nun</i>, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” The power of historical narrative is not lost on the region’s contemporary writers either, including poets Minnie Bruce Pratt, Brenda Marie Osbey, and Natasha Trethewey. This thesis examines these poets’ works within the context of Southern studies, as well as the ways in which each poet grounds counter-narratives in Southern soil, and communal memories in the region’s marginalized bodies. Establishing these bodies—those of black, mixed-race, and lesbian women in particular—as sources of intensely regionalized knowledge and memory legitimizes the kind of subjective histories from which these poets appear to draw while also establishing a tradition of multiplicity in narrative. Tracing memory’s evolution and preservation in marginalized bodies also casts them as sources of collective memory capable of augmenting or dismantling the white patriarchal master narrative of Southern history.</p><p>

As the early European avant-garde designers sought to repress the decorative in design, allegiance to the sensuality and symbolism of floral pattern triggered a sense of ambivalence amongst many English designers and design reformers. Minnie McLeish and Winifred Mold designed ornamental patterns for England's leading mass-market textile manufacturers and this thesis examines their work of 1910 - 1930. Offering McLeish and Mold as case studies, it explores the extent to which women designers exploited the medium of popular floral chintz to forge careers in a previously male-dominated profession. It asks to what extent the eclecticism of their practice - which employed both modern and traditional floral motifs and tropes - exemplified a quintessentially English and essentially modern early twentieth-century paradigm. Rejecting the notion of modernity as an unequivocal rupture in the design historical continuum it offers a close critical reading of specific commodities - printed floral textiles - and their production within the cultural context of consumption to illustrate how contemporaries negotiated 'producing the modern' and 'being modern' using combined narratives of continuity, tradition and progress. The fashionable chintz, and women designers' role in its production, are argued as evidence of what Wilson has described as 'modernity's other' in which the historically influenced, soft, colourful and abstracted surfaces of printed textiles represent the massproduced, the popular, and the irrational in direct reaction to Modernism's scientific ratlonalísrn." The historiography of modern design has largely dismissed floral design as narrowly derivative and as such, like many of those involved in its design and production, it has been rendered marginal in the written history of twentieth-century English modern design. By positioning Minnie McLeish's and Winifred Mold's designs within current discourse on the role of women designers and the decorative in interwar Modernism this thesis furthers our understanding of the history of the designer in the early twentieth century and argues that popular floral fabrics despite their romantic and nostalgic symbolism operated as unlikely agents of modernisation in the 1920s modern interior.

The Centre for Space Research (formerly known as the Unit for Space Physics) at the
North–West University manages the operation, maintenance and data gathering of four
neutron monitors. This is done in order to indirectly study the patterns and reactivity of
the Sun. Some of these neutron monitors have been operating from the late 1950’s
while not receiving much attention regarding technology upgrades, but were kept alive
by merely maintaining the bits and pieces that started giving problems.
This is all about to change due to this thesis that will serve as a Technological Roadmap
for the Improvement of the North–West University Neutron Monitor System of the Centre
for Space Research. It begins by looking at the essential parts needed to count cosmic
rays - the primary particles that are affected by the Sun’s intensity and reactivity - and
register their collision–products, neutrons. Then it covers the Centre for Space
Research’s neutron monitor systems as a whole, including the physical locations up to
the logistics needed to change a part.
The systems analysis of the neutron monitor operation was done in order to determine
the current neutron monitor operational functions and to determine the system’s risk
profile. A complete FMECA breakdown of worst–case scenarios and their impact on the
system was done, and the mitigating actions were discussed in order to minimize the
effect a specific failure mode will have.
The project ends by giving a couple of technological and design suggestions in order to

Ögonvittnen kan vara mycket användbara vid rättsfall och felaktig information kanpåverka vittnen. Detta är på grund av att människans minne är formbart och blir felaktigaminnen (Loftus, 2003). Enligt tidig forskning från Loftus och Zanni (1975) kommerdeltagare som får bestämda frågor i högre utsträckning svara mer bestämt (ja eller nej) påsina frågor än de deltagare som får obestämda frågor. Syftet med undersökningen var attstudera hur bestämda respektive obestämda frågor påverkar deltagarnas sätt att svara påfrågor. Undersökningen utfördes på 112 deltagare som delades in i två grupper.Deltagarna fick se två filmsekvenser och sedan besvara en enkät på 20 frågor, varav sexfrågor var nyckelfrågor som studerades. En av frågorna avsåg hur snabbt de upplevde attbilarna körde när de krockade eller slog i varandra. Genom att utföra en ANOVA föroberoende grupper kunde här utläsas att det inte fanns något signifikant resultat mellangrupperna. Alltså, att använda sig av ett starkt eller milt ord påverkar inte deltagarens sättatt svara på en fråga. Till resterande frågor användes en MANOVA för oberoendegrupper. Samtliga frågor hade ett signifikant resultat för grupperna med bestämda ochobestämda frågor. Det betyder att de med bestämda frågor i högre utsträckning svararbestämt (ja eller nej) än de som får obestämda frågor (vet ej).

I minnet av någon, minnet av en lukt, minnet av en känsla. De suddas ut, bleks och omformas. Via dessa fragment undersöker jag dialogen mellan det analoga och digitala, då och nu. Mitt arbete handlar om omsorg och att föra vidare ett arv. Jag tar upp tråden där min mormor lämnade den.

Depression är ett utbrett hälsoproblem som internetbaserad kognitiv beteendeterapi har visats vara en effektiv behandlingsmetod för. Hur prospektivt minne, alltså att minnas att utföra en tidigare utformad intention någon gång i framtiden, används i relation till behandling har dock inte berörts i tidigare forskning. Studiens syfte var att undersöka användandet av prospektivt minne efter psykologisk behandling samt att utveckla ett formulär som mäter behandlingsrelaterat prospektivt minne. Vi använde en mixad metod-design, med en kvantitativ delstudie samt en kvalitativ delstudie. Vi fann ett negativt samband mellan skattningar av behandlingsrelaterat prospektivt minne och BDI-II (r=-.29; p=.016). Vi fann även en positiv korrelation mellan förändring av skattning på BDI-II över tid och skattningar av behandlingsrelaterat prospektivt minne (r=.29; p=.013). Formuläret som togs fram i denna studie består av femton item. I den kvalitativa delstudien genomfördes en tematisk analys som resulterade i fyra teman: Påfrestningar påminner, Lättare när man mår bra, Automatiserad användning samt Tillbakablickande. Resultaten i denna studie påvisar en koppling mellan mående och användandet av prospektivt minne för behandlingsinnehåll samt att det finns en stor variation i hur olika personer använder prospektivt minne för behandlingsinnehåll. Studien har bidragit med en inledande förståelse för behandlingsrelaterat prospektivt minne samt implikationer för framtida forskning.

<p><p>Studiens syfte var att utifrån tidigare forskning (Hallén, 2007, 2008) undersöka konsekvenser av att känna empati. Genom en faktoriell inomgruppsdesign (2x2) besvarade 51 frisörer en enkät om hur de påverkas på kort och lång sikt av att känna empati med sina kunder. Resultaten visade att empati med någon som mår dåligt upplevdes leda till betydligt mer negativa effekter än empati med någon som mår bra, på både kort och lång sikt. Vidare upplevdes effekterna som mer intensiva på kort sikt än på lång, oavsett om individen man empatiserat med mått dåligt eller bra. En tänkbar förklaring till skillnaden över tid är att de emotioner vi specifikt erfar genom andra avtar på samma sätt såsom minnen av egna emotioner gör generellt.</p></p>

The memory of expulsions among the expelling groups has been fairly studied, and has potential to create new conflicts. This qualitative study uses in-depth interviews to describe the memory of the 6-7 September events and the Greek minority in Istanbul among a group of Turkish descent people living in Beyoglu, Istanbul. Further the study compares the memory with the written history and explains why the memories of the past are shaped according to the present. The Greek minority of Istanbul are remembered in words of friendship and neighbourliness, but these memories are rather a nostalgia of the past for present needs than an image of the past itself. The memories of the events among the studied group are dominated by the general destruction occasioned by the riots but tend to contradict the violence towards the Greek minority. There exists a discrepancy between the memory and the written history concerning the acts of violence during the riots, the underlying causes of the riots and the period after the events. This article explains the reconstructed memory as a product of strategies for avoiding the experience of collective guilt.

Studien har som syfte att undersöka hur personal på kommunkontor i mindre kom-muner inom Skaraborg använder USB-minnen. Mindre kommuner har det ofta svårtatt anställa kvalificerad personal samt att få ekonomin att gå ihop. Trotts detta för-utsätts att de fortfarande följer samma lagar och utför samma uppgifter som störrekommuner. För att nå ut till kommuner baserades urvalet på medlemskommunernai Skaraborg kommunalförbund, av dessa kommuner uppfyllde tio kommuner kravetpå att vara en mindre kommun.Personalen fick sedan besvara en enkät om USB-minnen. Totalt inkom 30 unika svarfrån 7 olika kommuner.Svaren analyserades sedan och visar på att: Personalen är medvetna vad USB-minnen är och de tillåts använda dessa på kontoren.Enbart en dryg tredjedel hade fått information om hur de skulle hantera USB-minnen.Användningen skiljde sig mellan personalen en dryg tredjedel uppgav att de användeUSB-minnen för att lagra filer, likaså flytta filer. En dryg tredjedel uppgav att de hadetagit med sig USB-minnen utanför arbetsplatsen. Oberoende av användningsområdetär presentationer den vanligaste filtypen på USB-minnet.

Barn med funktionsnedsättningar har ofta problem i skolan men även i deras vardag på grund av att deras omgivning inte är ämnad för människor med någon typ av svårighet. Prospektivt minne är en viktig faktor i hur väl en person med funktionsnedsättning klarar av sin vardag. Tidigare studier visar även att det finns en koppling mellan den exekutiva funktionen inhibition och prospektivt minne. Denna studie har i syfte att undersöka om det finns ett samband mellan den exekutiva funktionen inhibition och prospektivt minne. Detta behövs för att få en större förståelse för vad som orsakar svårigheter i vardagen för personer med funktionsnedsättningar. Studien utförs med en inomgruppsdesign där sex försöksdeltagare i åldrarna åtta till nio år fick utföra olika tester. Tester från följande kategorier används: Minne och exekutiva funktioner. Efter en korrelationsanalys visar resultat inte på någon signifikant korrelation men detta kan bero på att samplingsstorleken är för liten. Resultat visar på en tendens till att exekutiva funktioner påverkar prospektivt minne men vidare studier behövs för att styrka detta samband. Utöver att undersöka om det finns ett samband mellan prospektivt minne och inhibition gör denna studie en metodologisk utvärdering av tester indelade i kategorierna: Minne, exekutiva funktioner och generell intelligens, språkförståelse samt tre skattningsformulär kring vardaglig funktion. Den här utvärderingen resulterar i en metoddiskussion som återfinns i den andra delen av denna rapport.

Denna undersökning utreder hur och varför Föreningen Gamla Halmstad startade 1923 i Halmstad som en kollektiv historiekulturell minnesgemenskap och bevarande organisation. Undersökningen svarar på vilka aktörer som dominerar vid föreningens tillkomst och vilka förändringar i gemenskapen som kommer till uttryck i dess årsbok fram till dess förste ordförandes död 1941 vad avser frågan om definition av gemenskapens kollektiva minne. Den svarar även på frågan om syftet med gemenskapen och förankrar den med vidare tillhörighet till kulturarv och med fosterlandsvänner. Teoretiskt används Ludwik Flecks kunskapsteori där de tre begreppen tankegrupp, tankestil, riktad perception är centrala liksom Flecks sammanhållning av fack och populärvetenskap. Som kompletteringar till Flecks kunskapsteori används social nätverksteori i den bearbetade Powellska traditionen och Jörn Rüsens historiekulturella teori med Jan Assmanns kompletterande minnesteori. Uppsatsens tillvägagångssätt operationaliserar gemenskapen till en processuell gemenskap där relationen mellan personer undersöks och där en undersökning av den historiska berättelsen ses som en pågående process som kan undersökas utifrån Jörn Rüsens historiekulturella dimensioner och Jan Assmanns minnesteori. Materialet för undersökningen utgörs främst av den årligen återkommande årsboken med för denna uppgift avgränsning till åren 1924 – 1941. Tillvägagångssättet gör det möjligt att i historiekultur inkludera såväl den i gemenskapen aktivt brukade som den lagrade kulturen vilken vid behov kan reaktiveras. Rörligheten mellan den aktiva sociala nivån och den arkiverade kulturella gör det möjligt att synliggöra vilka dimensioner av historiekulturen som under perioden 1923-1941 får företräde i årsboken som dess kulturella minne.

<p>Flera studier har visat att man minns emotionella ord bättre än neutrala ord. I den här studien har en jämförelse mellan minnet för negativa, positiva och neutrala ord gjorts och den visade att det negativa ord man bäst kom ihåg. 48 personer deltog i experimentet som genomfördes på internet. Deltagarna fick studera 17 negativa, 17 positiva och 17 neutrala ord, totalt 51 ord. Varje ord visades i 400 ms, men inkodningstiden (dvs. tiden mellan visningen av orden) varierade mellan deltagarna: 500 ms, 750 ms, 1100 ms och 1700 ms. I minnestester av den här typen är inkodningstiden vanligtvis 2000 ms, varför detta test får anses som svårt. Efter visningen av orden fick varje försöksperson avgöra om ett ord hade visats innan eller om det var nytt i ett minnestest. En 4 (inkodningstid) x 3 (valens) mixed mellangrupp-inomgrupp ANOVA visade att sensitiviteten d’ var högst för negativa ord, dvs. man kom bäst ihåg negativa ord. Resultatet visade också att inkodningstiden påverkade hur många ord man kom ihåg. En 4 (inkodningstid) x 3 (valens) mellangrupp-inomgrupp ANOVA visade att responsbias C, var lägre för emotionella ord, dvs. man var mer benägen att säga att man kom ihåg ett emotionellt ord oavsett om det var gammalt eller nytt.</p>

Den gängse modellen för långtidsminnet med fem minnessystem och processerna inkodning och framplockning av minne ger att störningar bör kunna observeras inom tio områden. Vissa av dessa är dock dåligt beforskade. Ett självrapporteringsformulär för att skatta nedsättningar i visuospatialt och verbalt deklarativt minne samt procedurellt minne framställdes och validerades. Studien genomfördes med en enkät med Likertskala som validerades med faktoranalys och reliabilitetsanalys (Cronbachs α). En enkät med en itempool bestående av 71 item administrerades till ett bekvämlighetsurval av friska, vuxna personer (N=144). En slutgiltig enkät framställdes som innehöll 25 item fördelade på 4 faktorer varav en innehöll item av verbal, semantisk karaktär, en innehöll item av procedurell karaktär och två innehöll item av visuospatial karaktär. Multivariat variansanalys (MANOVA) användes för att pröva effekterna av de demografiska variablerna ålder, kön och utbildningsnivå på rapporterad minnesfunktion i de olika minnessystemen. Resultaten av analysen av demografiska variablers påverkan skiljde sig avsevärt från resultat av prestationsbaserade studier av minnesfunktion. Vid ett fortsatt arbete med instrumentet skulle urval, itemkonstruktion och analysmetod behöva förbättras.

<p>Människan minns händelser och rörelser som hon själv genomfört bättre än de hon fått berättade för sig. Minnet för händelser och rörelser behandlas i det episodiska minnet. Multimodal memory theory är en teori om det episodiska minnet vilket bland annat behandlar förkunskapernas och modaliteternas betydelse för minneskapaciteten. Då människan genomför något används den motoriska modaliteten och då hon får höra något berättas används den verbala modaliteten. Det som har undersökts är om minnet och förståelsen för komplexa och tekniska lösningar påverkas av vilket modalitet som används vid inkodningen. Undersökningen visade inte någon skillnad på förståelse eller minneskapacitet för komplexa och tekniska lösningar, beroende av vilket modalitet som används vid inkodningen. En anledning till att undersökningen inte visade någon skillnad kan vara att mätredskapet var för trubbigt. Det är även möjligt att resultatet hade blivit ett annat om utformningen på experimentet hade varit annorlunda.</p>

Bitcoin est une crypto-monnaie pionnière qui enregistre les transactions dans un registre public et distribué appelé blockchain. Il est utilisé comme support pour les paiements, les investissements et plus largement la gestion d’un portefeuille numérique qui n’est pas administré par un gouvernement ou une institution financière. Au cours de ces dix dernières années, l’activité transactionnelle de Bitcoin a rapidement et largement augmenté. La volumétrie ainsi que la nature évolutive de ces données posent des défis pour l’analyse et l'exploration des usages ainsi que des activités sur la blockchain. Le domaine de l’analyse visuelle travaille sur la conception de systèmes analytiques qui permettent aux humains d'interagir et d'obtenir des informations à partir de données complexes. Dans cette thèse, j'apporte plusieurs contributions à l'analyse des activités de minage sur la blockchain Bitcoin. Tout d'abord, je propose une caractérisation des travaux passés et des défis de recherche liés à l’analyse visuelle pour les blockchains. À partir de cette étude, j'ai proposé un outil d’analyse visuelle pour comprendre les activités de minage qui sont essentielles pour maintenir l'intégrité et la sécurité des données sur la blockchain Bitcoin. Je propose une méthode pour extraire l’activité des mineurs à partir des données de transaction et tracer leur comportement de bascule d’un pool de minage à un autre. L'analyse empirique de ces données a notamment révélé que les nouveaux pools de minage offraient une meilleure incitation et attiraient davantage de mineurs. Cette analyse a également montré que les mineurs choisissaient stratégiquement leur pool de minage dans le but de maximiser leur profit. Pour explorer l'évolution et la dynamique de cette activité sur le long terme, j'ai développé un outil d’analyse visuelle, appelé MiningVis, qui intègre des données liées au comportement des mineurs avec des informations contextuelles issues des statistiques et de l’actualité de Bitcoin. L'étude avec des utilisateurs démontre que les participants au minage de Bitcoin cherchent à utiliser l'outil pour analyser l'activité globale plutôt que pour étudier les détails d’un pool de minage. Les commentaires des participants prouvent que l'outil les a aidés à mettre en relation plusieurs informations et à découvrir les tendances dans l’activité de minage de Bitcoin<br>Bitcoin is a pioneer cryptocurrency that records transactions in a public distributed ledger called the blockchain. It has been used as a medium for payments, investments, and digital wallets that are not controlled by any government or financial institution. Over the past ten years, transaction activities in Bitcoin have increased rapidly. The volume and evolving nature of its data pose analysis challenges to explore diverse groups of users and different activities on the network. The field of Visual Analytics (VA) has been working on the development of analytical systems that allow humans to interact and gain insights from complex data. In this thesis, I make several contributions to the analysis of Bitcoin mining activity. First, I provide a characterization of the past work and research challenges related to VA for blockchains. From this assessment, I proposed a VA tool to understand mining activities that ensure data integrity and security on the Bitcoin blockchain. I propose a method to extract miners from the transaction data and trace pool hopping behavior. The empirical analysis of this data revealed that emerging mining pools provided a better incentive to attract miners. Simultaneously, miners strategically chose mining pools to maximize their profit. To explore the evolution and dynamics of this activity over the long term, I developed a VA tool called MiningVis that integrates mining behavior data with contextual information from Bitcoin statistics and news. The user study demonstrates that Bitcoin miner participants use the tool to analyze higher-level mining activity rather than mining pool details. The evaluation of the tool proves that it helped participants to relate multiple information and discover historical trends of Bitcoin mining

When performing an analysis of the evolution of software quality and software metrics,there is a need to get access to as many versions of the source code as possible. There isa lack of research on how data or source code can be extracted from the source controlmanagement system Git. This thesis explores different possibilities to resolve thisproblem. Lately, there has been a boom in usage of the version control system Git. Githubalone hosts about 6,100,000 projects. Some well known projects and organizations thatuse Git are Linux, WordPress, and Facebook. Even with these figures and clients, thereare very few tools able to perform data extraction from Git repositories. A pre-studyshowed that there is a lack of standardization on how to share mining results, and themethods used to obtain them. There are several tools available for older version control systems, such as concurrentversions system (CVS), but few for Git. The examined repository mining applicationsfor Git are either poorly documented; or were built to be very purpose-specific to theproject for which they were designed. This thesis compiles a list of general issues encountered when using repositorymining as a tool for data gathering. A selection of existing repository mining tools wereevaluated towards a set of prerequisite criteria. The end result of this evaluation is thecreation of a new repository mining tool called Doris. This tool also includes a smallcode metrics analysis library to show how it can be extended.

Utgångspunkten för denna studie är min iakttagelse av barn och ungdomars rörelse. Jag vill undersöka hur det ser ut på en liten ort i Norrland. Studiens syfte är att få fram hur mycket barnen rör sig och se om det finns önskemål från dem på aktiviteter och mötesplatser som skapar mer rörelse. En kvalitativ forskningsmetod med semistrukturerade intervjuer har använts för att söka svar på studiens syfte och frågeställningar. Studiens resultat visade att det är olika faktorer som gör att rörelsen blivit mindre bland barn och ungdomar. Detta beror bland annat på ökad användning av dator, telefoner, och Ipads. Tiden framför dessa skärmar ägnas åt att ha koll på sociala medier, spela online spel och se på Youtube samt diverse serier. Många av barnen utrycker att det är mycket läxor som gör att de inte orkar med fritidsaktiviteter samt att de saknar större utbud av olika idrottsaktiviteter på orten. Studien visar att de yngre barnen rör sig mer än de äldre. Generellt rör sig barn och ungdomar för lite på en mindre ort i Norrland. Studien visar även att det finns ett behov av fler fysiska aktiviteter under skol- och fritid.

<p>I följande rapport presenteras en empirisk undersökning om metaforens påverkan på inlärning och aktivt minne. Syftet med undersökningen är att utröna om metaforen underlättar och förenklar dessa processer. Avsikten är också att göra en jämförelse mellan metaforer och bokstavliga uttryck. Först presenteras teorier kring metaforens karaktär och betydelse i språket. Vad är en metafor? Vad har den för syfte? Vad innebär det att yttra en metafor? Är metaforen en fråga om språk eller tanke? Efter detta presenteras syfte, genomförande och resultat av undersökningen. Slutligen följer en sammanfattning av resultaten, utvärdering av undersökningen, diskussion om vidare studier och en avslutande diskussion.</p><p>Studien behandlar metaforen i jämförelse med bokstavliga uttryck med hjälp av textbaserat material. Försökspersonerna får läsa två texter för att sedan få återge uttryck via formulär med uteblivna ord eller satser. Avsikten är att se om metaforen hjälper det aktiva minnet. En mindre intervju utförs också i undersökningen för att studera försökspersonernas upplevelse av metaforerna och om metaforen påverkar deras minnesteknik. Resultatet tolkas sedan enligt både en kvantitativ och kvalitativ metod. Resultatet besår av beräknade antal uttryck, tolkning av tydlig förekomst av uttryck och tolkning av personernas svar på frågorna. Resultaten efter genomförd undersökning visar att metaforen har ytterst liten påverkan på inlärning och minneshantering. Vissa typer av metaforer har haft genomslagskraft, som vedertagna metaforer, metaforer från samma familj och förklarande av abstrakta begrepp genom metaforer. I övrigt kan man förenklat säga att de bokstavliga uttrycken dominerar undersökningen. Det finns dock tendenser till att metaforen uppfattas av personerna på ett omedevetet plan på ett sätt som skiljer sig från de bokstavliga uttrycken.</p>

<p>The study follows the tradition of Cultural Studies, with a special interest in visual culture, and examines how history is being represented in different media, how these representations are interpreted by the audience, and how the outcome functions in the individual knowledge-building about this particular era. Here the notion of what is often called a collective, or cultural, memory, is important; both as a vehicle for a dominant discourse on memory and as a counterpart to individual memory, which might be more or less in agreement or opposition with the dominant. A central theme is the examination of how elements of the mythical enters a historical narrative, how they affect this, and how this is being interpreted by the audience. The media texts examined are mostly films (fiction and docudramas as well as documentaries) and computer games, although there are also some examples from role-playing games and alternative popular music. The audience part of the study consists of 11 in-depth interviews and a number of additional informants.</p><p>I propose that the media material indicates a convergence between myth in the traditional, religiously connected sense, and in the secularized sense of Roland Barthes. The former is made visible by the persistent use of elements of a clearly metaphysical nature, while the latter is made clear through the almost omnipresent authoritarian character of the media presentations. The material in its entirety clearly shows the importance of transmediality, transmedia storytelling and knowledge communities (cf Henry Jenkins) within the context. The audience examined expresses a highly critical attitude towards what is considered to be a “mainstream” media representation of World War II and Nazi Germany that – according to them – transforms the gruesome historical reality into cheap thrills and entertainment. Thus, it becomes fundamentally problematic to look upon the media representations of the theme as an expression of collective memory.</p>

<p>Den fransk-algeriska filmaren Yamina Benguiguis dokumentärfilmstriptyk Mémoires d’immigrés. L’héritage maghrébin var när den hade premiär 1997 en av de första filmerna som på allvar gav röst åt de nordafrikanska arbetskraftsinvandrarna och lyfte fram deras minnen av immigrationen till Frankrike. Uppsatsens syfte är att studera den filmiska gestaltningen av minnen i de tre filmerna utifrån hypotesen att de skapar ett kollektivt minnesrum som utmanar den officiella historieskrivningen och det nationella minnet i Frankrike. Analysen av filmerna tar avstamp i en teoretisk bakgrund i två delar: Diaspora- och exilfilm, där jag kortfattat redogör för vissa drag inom området diaspora- och exil inom filmteorin, samt Rörliga bilder och minne, där jag tar upp teman som filmen som minnesteknologi och kollektivt minne, spår och minnestecken, samt gestaltning av minnesprocesser på film. I analysens tre huvuddelar uppmärksammas följande aspekter av minnesgestaltningen: Att bryta tystnaden: Språk, röst och det akustiska, Bildminnen och visuell arkeologi, och Resor i tid och rum: Filmens minnesplatser. De muntliga vittnesmålen utmanar den kollektiva och nationella amnesin kring immigrationen samtidigt som de vittnar om den förda politikens konsekvenser i enskilda människors liv. Urvalet av arkivbilder, klippning och musik bidrar till en form av poetisk gestaltning av spår och minnesplatser. Mitt kandidatarbete går ut på att fastställa om det finns något samband mellan hur vi relaterar till färger i förhållande till platser och hur mycket våra tidigare erfarenheter som påverkar sambandet. Med hjälp av Donna Haraway´s arbeten om begreppet situerad kunskap och begreppet diffraktion av Karen Barad. I detta kandidatarbete används diffraktion som ett verktyg i skapandeprocess. Färg är någonting som vi ser hela tiden i vårt dagliga liv. Därför kopplar vårt minne ihop färg på både ett medvetet och omedvetet sätt, så som till platser, företagslogotyper, mat, hustyper, bilar och blommor. Eftersom mitt arbete handlar mycket om bilder, och färger, har jag använt mig av ett analysverktyg som heter Semiotisk analys, där jag får hjälp att tolka resultatet av färg och form i olika bilder. Slutsatsen kommer att handla om hur mycket tidigare erfarenheter kan påverka visuella arbetsminnet dvs. associationen mellan olika färger och olika platser, mycket, lite eller obetydligt. Resultatet kommer förmodligen att landa i någon form av påverkan.<br>With this Bachelor thesis, I want to enlighten if there are some connection between how we relate to colours in relations to separate places and how mush our previous experiences interfere with this relation. With the support of Donna Haraway´s works with the concept situated knowledge and with the concept diffraction of Karen Barad. In this Bachelor thesis, I use the concept diffraction as a tool in the design process. Colour is something as we see around us all the time in daily life. Therefor our memory connects colours together in a consciousness way and a unconsciousness way with a lot of different things as Places, Company Logos, food, different kind of Houses, Cars and Flowers among others. Because of my Bachelor thesis is about Pictures and colours, have I used a tool for analyses called Semiotic analyse, with this tool I got some support in the way of interpretation of colours and shapes in different Pictures. The conclusion is about how mush previous experience are going to affect the visual memory that is to say association between colours and separate places, a lot, little or almost nothing. The result is probably going to be some kind of influence.

Dyslexi är en form av läs- och skrivsvårighet som inte kan förklaras av t.ex. bristfällig undervisning, låg begåvning eller synproblem. Orsaken till dyslexi anses vanligen vara nedsatt förmåga av fonologiskt processande. Flera studier har dock visat att dyslexi även är förknippat med språkliga, kognitiva och motoriska svårigheter som inte kan förklaras av nedsatt förmåga av fonologiskt processande. Det procedurella minnessystemet engageras vid inlärning, processande och konsolidering av kognitiva och motoriska färdigheter. Enligt the procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) orsakas de svårigheter förekommande vid dyslexi av en nedsättning i detta minnessystem. Forskningen inom området är inte entydig då det har rapporterats om både intakt och nedsatt procedurellt minne hos personer med dyslexi. Föreliggande studie var den första att undersöka procedurellt minne hos svenska universitetsstuderande med dyslexi. Syftet var att testa PDH med hjälp av alternating serial reaction time task (ASRT), samt att undersöka relationen mellan procedurellt minne, närmare bestämt implicit sekvensinlärning, och läsförmåga samt aspekter av språklig/fonologisk förmåga. I studien deltog totalt 37 universitetsstuderande, 11 med dyslexi och 26 utan dyslexi. Resultatet indikerade att förmågan till inlärning och konsolidering i det procedurella minnet inte skilde sig åt mellan grupperna. Resultatet ger således inte stöd åt PDH. Vidare kunde inga signifikanta korrelationer påvisas, vilket tyder på att det inte föreligger något samband mellan procedurellt minne och respektive läsförmåga, fonologisk medvetenhet och snabb benämning (rapid automatized naming, RAN).<br>Developmental dyslexia is characterized by reading and writing difficulties that do not derive from poor education, low intelligence or visual impairment. The disorder is commonly explained as a result of an underlying phonological deficit. However, studies have shown that dyslexia is also associated with linguistic, cognitive, and motor impairments that can not be explained by a specific phonological deficit. The procedural memory underlies learning, processing and consolidation of motor and cognitive skills. The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) suggests that an impairment of procedural memory is the underlying cause of developmental dyslexia. Previous research has yielded inconsistent results as studies have reported intact as well as impaired procedural memory in dyslexics. This study was the first to examine procedural memory in Swedish university students. The aim was to test the PDH, by using an alternating serial reaction time task (ASRT), and to examine the correlation between procedural memory and reading ability as well as aspects of linguistic/phonological ability. In this study there was a total of 37 university students, 11 dyslexics and 26 nondyslexics. The result showed learning and consolidation of the procedural memory in both groups and there was no significant difference between the groups. Thus, the results do not support the PDH. No significant correlations were found, which indicates that there is no association between procedural memory and reading ability, phonological awareness or rapid automatized naming (RAN).

Developmental dyslexia is a specific reading and spelling disability with several explanatory proposals. Previous research has shown that there is a strong relation between developmental dyslexia and difficulties in phonological processing, which has resulted in the theory that the cause of developmental dyslexia is a specific weakness in phonological awareness. However, such a specific weakness does not explain the non-linguistic difficulties that are also common in developmental dyslexia. According to the Procedural Deficit Hypothesis (PDH), several (both linguistic and non-linguistic) difficulties that are observed in developmental dyslexia can be explained by abnormal development of the procedural memory system. Moreover, this hypothesis implies that the declarative memory system remains intact and may have a compensatory role for the reading disabilities in developmental dyslexia. In this study, the aspect of declarative memory that is visual recognition memory after incidental encoding was examined. 10 children with diagnosed developmental dyslexia and 10 typically developed children participated in the study. The results indicated an intact declarative memory in children with developmental dyslexia. However, no significant correlation between declarative memory and reading ability was found. Thus, the prediction that declarative memory can serve a compensatory role in developmental dyslexia was not supported.<br>Dyslexi är en specifik läs- och skrivsvårighet med flera förklaringsmodeller. Tidigare forskning har visat på ett starkt samband mellan dyslexi och svårigheter med fonologiskt processande, vilket har lett fram till hypotesen att orsaken till dyslexi är en specifik svaghet i fonologisk medvetenhet. En sådan specifik nedsättning kan dock inte förklara de icke-språkliga svårigheter som också är vanligt förekommande vid dyslexi. I denna studie undersöktes det deklarativa minnet i form av visuellt igenkänningsminne efter oavsiktlig inkodning. I studien deltog 10 barn med dyslexi och 10 barn utan dyslexi. Resultatet indikerade att det deklarativa minnet var intakt hos barnen med dyslexi. Däremot kunde inget signifikant samband mellan deklarativt minne och läsförmåga ses. Antagandet att deklarativt minne kan fungera som kompensation vid dyslexi kunde därför inte stödjas.

Von Restorff-effekten uppstår när man exempelvis försöker memorera ordlistor. Minnet blir då bättre för isolerade ord som på något sätt skiljer sig från de omgivande homogena orden. Den här studien undersökte skillnader i von Restorff-effektens påverkan på minnet när presentationshastigheten av ordlistor manipulerades. Objekt som befinner sig nära varandra och/eller liknar varandra upplevs lättare som samma enhet, detta enligt gestaltlagarna. En snabbare presentationshastighet av ord från en ordlista kan därför kanske uppfattas mer enhetlig och på så sätt öka de isolerade ordens utstickande egenskaper. Ett webbaserat experiment utfördes där 31 deltagare mellan åldrarna 18 till 30+ år tittade på filmklipp med 16 ordlistor och återgav orden de kunde komma ihåg. Studien utnyttjade en inomindividsdesign och analyserades med en 2 × 2 variansanalys (ANOVA). De oberoende variablerna utgjordes av Presentationshastighet (snabb, långsam) och Listkontext (isolerade ord, kontrollord), den beroenden variabeln bestod av det uppmätta antalet hågkomna ord på position tre i ordlistorna. Listkontexten med sina två nivåer refererar till de två typerna av ordlistor som använde i experimentet, en isolerad lista där ordet på position tre tillhörde en annan kategori av ord än övriga ord i listan, och en kontrollista där alla ord hörde till samma kategori. Ingen signifikant huvudeffekt för listkontext kunde upptäckas, ingen interaktionseffekt mellan presentationshastighet och listkontext kunde erhållas. Presentationshastigheten gav ett signifikant utfall där den långsamma hastigheten hade ett högre medelvärde jämfört med den snabba hastigheten.<br>The von Restorff-effect can be obtained when, for example, lists of words are to be memorized. Memory for isolated words that somehow differ from the surrounding homogeneous words are enhanced. The present study investigated differences in memory caused by the von Restorff-effect, where the speed with which lists of words was displayed to the subjects was manipulated. Object that are in close proximity to each other, or are similar in some way, are more easily perceived as parts of the same unit, this according to the gestalt laws. A more rapid display-speed of lists of words might therefore be perceived as more of a unit and by that strengthen the isolated words individual properties. A web-based experiment was conducted in which 31 participants between the ages of 18 to 30+ years were shown videoclips with 16 lists of words, they were then asked to recall as many words as possible. The present study utilized a within-subject design and was analyzed using a 2 × 2 ANOVA. The independent variables consisted of display speed (fast, slow) and list-context (isolated words, control words). The dependent variable consisted of the number of memorized words at position three of the wordlists. The list-context refers to the two types of wordlists used in the experiment, one isolated list were the words on position three was of a different category than the other words, and one control-list with words from the same category. No significant main effect for list-context was discovered, nor was a significant interaction effect found between display speed and list-context. A significant main effect for display speed was obtained which revealed a greater mean value for the slow rate compared to the fast rate.

Konsthögskolan, Aarhus Arkitektskole, och curator Jan Åman. Projektet har utvecklats skulpturalt vid Kungl. Konsthögskolan. Förstudier har genomförts vid Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset. I finalstudien kombineras studier vid Uppsala Akademiska Sjukhuset, Bild- och Funktionsmedicinskt centrum/Röntgen i tredimensionell visualisering av medicinsk bild med studier i klinisk anatomi vid Uppsala Universitet, för att förenas i skulptural gestaltning och iscensättning. R1 Reaktorhallen iscensätts som ett platsspecifikt monumentalverk. Den fysiska installationen i rummet bildar en temporal kappa om utställningskapitlen i avhandlingsutställningen som handlar om kropp och hjärna. Utställningen berättar om en specifik tidpunkt, utan minne och proprioception. Här finns ingen historia och ingen framtid. Genom utställningen skapas en förståelse för sambanden mellan teoretiskt tänkande och visuell gestaltning. Det är forskning genom konstnärlig och arkitektonisk precision med referenser till konst, arkitektur, medicin och medicinsk teknik. Referenserna är från verkliga objekt i verkliga rum, specifika verk från specifika konstnärer och genom auskultering vid flertalet expertpresentationer, där människor genom närvaro förmedlat sin kunskap. Arkitektur är spatial konstruktion av identitet, här i utställningsform som temporal visuell spatial-estetisk poetik. Formen på framläggningen av avhandlingen är vald efter det huvudsakliga ämnet som utreds, minnet, och dess temporala omskapande av rummet vid varje specifik tidpunkt det framkallas. Det visuella intrycket kommer före alla andra beskrivningar, i logik med den händelse som föregick doktorandprojektets ämne, en minnesförlust, där upplevelsen av rummet kom före språket, kroppen före hjärnan, intränade minnen i form av siffror före en självbiografi.<br>The project was developed in co-operation between Jenny Wiklund and KTH, Uppsala University Hospital, Uppsala University, Karolinska Institute, Royal Institute of Art, Aarhus School of Architecture, and curator Jan Åman. The project was developed sculpturally at the Royal Institute of Art. Preliminary studies of medicine were made at Karolinska University Hospital. The final study combines studies at Uppsala University Hospital of three-dimensional visualization of medical imaging with studies of clinical anatomy at Uppsala University, to be amalgamated to a sculptural interpretation and production. R1, the Reactor Hall, is staged as a site-specific monumental artistic work. The installation provides a temporary coat around the chapters of the dissertation exhibition, dealing with body and brain. The exhibition tells us about a specific moment, there is no memory, nor proprioception. There is no history, nor future. Through the exhibition an understanding of the connection between theoretical thinking and visual interpretation emerges. It is research by artistic and architectonic precision with references to art, architecture, medicine and medical technique. References come from concrete objects in concrete rooms, from specific artistic work of individual artists and from auscultating a number of expert presentations, where people by presence conveyed their knowledge. Architecture is a spatial construction of identity, here in the form of an exhibition as temporary visual spatial-aesthetic poetic theory. The form of the dissertation was chosen due to the main subject investigated, memory, and its temporary reshaping of the room at each specific point of time it is aroused. The visual impression come before all other descriptions, logical to the event that preceded the subject of the project, a loss of memory, when the experience of the room came before the language, the body before the brain, trained memories in the form of figures before an autobiography.<br><p>Avhandlingen består av utställning med tillhörande text. The aim of this master’s thesis is analysis of the multidimensional data. Three dimensionality reduction algorithms are introduced. It is shown how to manipulate with text documents using basic methods of natural language processing. The goal of the practical part of the thesis is to process real-world data from the internet forum. Posted messages are transformed to the numerical representation, then to two-dimensional space and visualized. Later on, topics of the messages are discovered. In the last part, a few selected algorithms are compared.

Podcast är ett underhållningsformat som växer mer och mer. År 2019 lyssnade 55% av svenskainternetanvändare på podcasts. Då man oftast lyssnar via sin smartphone samtidigt som man görnågot annat kan det vara lätt att zona ut och missa delar av avsnittet. Denna studie syftar till attundersöka hur en informationsgrafik som ligger i den mobilapp man använder för att lyssna påpodcast kan se ut, samt om den kan göra att man minns mer av det man precis har lyssnat på.En inledande studie genomfördes för att undersöka hur olika människors podcastvanor såg ut,hur och var de lyssnade, samt om de tenderar att zona ut kortare stunder. Resultatet bekräftade atten stor mängd personer ofta glömde bort vissa delar av den podcast de lyssnat på, samt attsmartphone var det främst förekommande mediet som användes.För att kunna besvara syftet har, genom en designprocess, tre olika koncept av informationsgrafiktagits fram och testats. Dessa har sedan jämförts med test på om man bara lyssnar på podcasten.Resultaten visar tendenser på att man minns mer om man ser en informationsgrafik samtidigtsom man lyssnar på podcasten, men att det egentligen inte spelar så stor roll hurinformationsgrafiken ser ut. Informationsgrafiken kan vara olika grader av abstrakt beroende vadpodcasten handlar om just då. Det är dock viktigt att informationsgrafiken innehåller text tillillustrationerna och att siffror visas i tydliga diagram. Det är också väldigt uppskattat att ha medinformation om vem som talar i podcasten just då.<br>Podcast is a form of entertainment that grows increasingly. In 2019, 55% of Swedish internetusers listened to podcasts. As one often listens via one’s smartphone at the same time as doingsomething else it is easy to zone out and miss parts of the episode. This study aims to explore howan infographic inside the application one uses to listen to podcast can look and whether it canmake one remember more of what one just listened to.An initial study was conducted to investigate what different people’s podcast habits looked like,how and when they listened, as well as if they tend to zone out for shorter periods. The resultconfirmed that a large amount of people often forgot some parts of the podcast they listened to. Italso showed that smartphone was the most common medium that was used.Through a design process, three different concepts of infographics have been produced andtested to answer the purpose of this study. These concepts have been compared to a test resultfrom users only listening to the podcast and not viewing the infographic. The result tends toshow that you remember more if viewing an infographic but that it doesn’t matter how it isdesigned. The infographic can be designed in different degrees of abstraction depending on whatthe podcast is about right then. However, it is important that the infographic contain text next tothe illustrations and that figures are shown in clear diagrams. It is also very appreciated to includeinformation about who is speaking in the podcast right then.
