Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Introduction: In this era of globalization, planners often fail to understand the importance of community specific nutritional intervention among children due to dearth of study specifically among the lesser known communities in tribal dominated Indian state like Arunachal Pradesh. In order to find out the present condition of nutritional status in such lesser known tribal groups in the state, this present cross-sectional study was conceptualized to assess the nutritional status by using anthropometric indices in the Sartang and Miji tribal children in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Methods: A total of 452 children aged five to 18 years living in rural areas of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India were considered for the present analysis. The international standards were used to collect height and weight data and height for age and BMI for age percentile were calculated. Results: The results revealed that the prevalence of stunting (< - 2 SD height for age) was higher among the Sartang male (34.0%) and female (46.3%) compared to Miji male (26.7%) and female (23.1%), respectively. Conversely the prevalence of overweight (percentile of BMI for age > 85) was also higher among the Sartang male (19.1%) and female (27.8%) compared to Miji children. It may be due to the alteration of traditional food habits, consumption of regular fast food and increasing less socio-economic equity and higher inequality in both the communities. Conclusions: Therefore, undernutrition as well as over nutrition are prevalent among studied children perhaps correlated with rapid change in their food habits and lifestyle in the early age.

Abstract:
By a diagram we mean a topological space obtained by gluing to a standard circle a finite number of pairwise non-intersecting closed rectangles along their lateral sides, the glued rectangles are pairwise disjoint. Diagrams are not new objects; they were used in many areas of low-dimensional topology. Our main goal is to develop the theory of diagrams to a level sufficient for application in one more branch - in the theory of tangles. We provide the diagrams with simple additional structures - the smoothness of the circles and rectangles that are pairwise consistent with each other, the orientation of the circle, a point on the circle; we introduce new equivalence relation (that is as far as the author knows not previously encountered in the scientific literature) - kindred relation; we define a surjective mapping of the set of classes of kindred diagrams onto the set of classes of diffeomorphic smooth compact connected two-dimensional manifolds with boundary and note that in the simplest cases this surjection is also a bijection. The application of the constructed theory to the tangle theory requires additional preparation and therefore is not included in this article; the author intends to devote a separate publication to this application.

Abstract:
This paper has developed over a span of four years since I first visited Ziro valley in 2017, guided by reflections and insights that I came upon while revisiting the field in recent years in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The dree ritual was historically an individual household ritual for Apatani people who owned cultivable land for better crops and good harvest before 1967. However, presently Dree is celebrated in a common ground and all villages come together to celebrate it. Through this ethnomusicological study with active fieldwork participation, archiving and tools borrowed from historical ethnomusicology, I have attempted at studying the gradual shift of ritual space within the Apatani community leading to an emerging performing space which is able to accommodate and nurture the diverse range of cultural practices of miji-migung (oral tradition) traditions, traditional dance forms, story-telling and other friendly sports for recreation within the celebration of an egalitarian Dree festival. Diary entries from C.V.F Haimendorf ’s field notes on “Drii”2 helped me to conceptualize further the drastic change in the structure and historical location of the Dree ritual and the specific role played by the Nyibu (ritual specialist and performer of miji) within the Apatani community. Dree festival among the patanis has projected a history where the feeling of nationalism and identity in post-independent India is being not only practised but also been creating a new emerging performance space and soundscapes among the Apatani people of Arunachal Pradesh, which could be better conceptualized as a process of glocalization and inter-community sustainability.

"4 Association Between Plasma Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL) and Non-Verbal Abstract Reasoning in a Colombian Cohort with Autosomal Dominant Alzheimer’s Disease." Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society 29, s1 (November 2023): 216–17. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s1355617723003235.

Abstract:
Objective:Neurofilament light chain (NfL), a plasma-based biomarker for neurodegeneration, is a promising marker for early Alzheimer disease (AD) detection in individuals at increased risk. We previously reported that Presenilin1 (PSEN1) E280A carriers have increased levels of plasma NfL relative to non-carrier family members twenty years before the onset of clinical symptoms. Abstract reasoning is one of the first cognitive abilities to deteriorate in AD. Here, we examined whether levels of plasma NfL were associated with non-verbal abstract reasoning performance in non-demented PSEN1-E280A carriers and non-carriers.Participants and Methods:A total of 798 members of the Colombian kindred with the PSEN1 E280A mutation (462 cognitively-unimpaired and 336 non-carriers; mean age= 34.02 (10.53), mean education= 8.23(4.60), 57% females and 43% males) were included in the study. Participants completed the Raven’s Progressive Matrices (RPM), Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), and underwent blood sampling. Plasma NfL concentrations were measured with a single molecule array (Simoa) method. Mann-Whitney U test and education-adjusted Spearman partial correlation were used to examine group differences and associations between abstract reasoning performance and NfL levels.Results:Non-carriers were older (p<.001) and had higher levels of education than carriers (p=.025). Compared to non-carriers, carriers had higher levels of NfL (p=.014), lower performance on the MMSE (p<.001) and on the RPM (p=.001). In the whole sample, performance on the RPM was significantly associated with age (r= -.144, p<.001), and MMSE score (r=.198, p<.001). In carriers only, performance on the RPM was negatively associated with NfL levels (r=-.121, p=.009). This association was not significant in non-carriers.Conclusions:Our findings support the hypothesis that plasma NfL levels may be indicators of disease progression and early cognitive dysfunction in autosomal dominant AD. Future work with NfL, abstract reasoning and memory with larger samples across the preclinical/prodromal spectrum will allow a more comprehensive examination of these associations.

Abstract:
This is the first description of the Bangru language spoken in a remote corner of Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India. On the basis of our data and analysis, we identify Bangru as a Tibeto-Burman language with as its closest genetic relatives Miji and Hruso, spoken further to the southwest in East and West Kameng districts. Based on these preliminary data and their analysis, Bangru is described as having 18 distinctive consonants, seven distinctive simple vowels and three distinctive diphthong vowels. The basic syllable structure is Ci(G)V(Cf). Bangru is furthermore characterised by the retention of Proto-Tibeto-Burman prefixes as reduced syllables. This paper also provides additional evidence for the validity of Shafer’s ‘Hruso’, with Hruso itself as its most aberrant member.
