Abstract:
Stuck pipe incidents translate to non-productive time. There is a need to mitigate stuck pipe incidents which can be achieved by conforming to recommended practices. Also, quick diagnosis is necessary in order to free a stuck pipe. Trial-and-error method can further complicate the situation. This work aims at diagnosing stuck pipe mechanisms and recommend practices to free a stuck pipe. spANALYZE also estimates the axial force and torque needed to free a stuck pipe caused by differential sticking. spANALYZE is a thick desktop client application developed in C# using the Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 development environment. It is an object-oriented .NET application that utilizes the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) architecture for its user interface. Each of the analyzers within spANALYZE were implemented generically as a list of nodes, representing the concept of a flow chart. New analyzers can easily be added simply by programmatically defining each node in the flow chart. Each node has a node identifier, a node type, node text, and the node identifiers of each answer – yes, no and restricted. spANALYZE presents the following benefits: quick and early detection of stuck pipe mechanisms, propose recommended action steps to free pipe, calculate stuck pipe depth, compute the torque and axial force needed to free a stuck string.

Abstract:
Employers consider a graduate's achievements in the relevant discipline to be required but not sufficient for them to be hired. It is essential that we fully understand what future employers will accept and needed. In the past, a graduate degree would ensure the welfare of a student's future. Today, something more different. A mere college diploma is inadequate for an individual to secure a promising future. This study aims to determine the fresh graduates' professional accounting skills and technology skills needed by the company and demonstrated by the accounting graduates. Results of study analysis comprised twenty (20) companies showed that computing techniques, written communication, reporting skills, measurement skills, professionalism, and oral communication are what employers seek. Moreover, companies observed that accounting graduates are more knowledgeable in reporting, research, measurement, finance, strategic and critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills. Regarding technology skills, companies seek employees knowledgeable in spreadsheet packages, accounting packages (SAP, Pastel, QuickBooks), word processing packages, communication software (Skype, Outlook, Slack), electronic commerce, and the worldwide web. However, accounting graduates possess word processing packages, communication software (skype, outlook, slack), world wide web, electronic commerce, and windows. It was revealed that students must be well-versed in Microsoft Office Applications, as this was the employers' primary skills needed both professional accounting skills and technology skills. These results provide the academicians with useful information. Building fundamentals, becoming competitive and continual development of abilities in accounting needs a tough knowledge foundation. Specializing in a specific area of accounting, such as financial reporting, taxation, or auditing, helps an individual become a highly sought-after professional. In a more distinct framework and profound lens, this study will convey collaborations on how Nueva Ecija industries search to hire new accounting professionals. In detail, the foregoing survey purposes were addressed: to determine the required skills the employers seek from accounting graduates, to identify the more important accountancy graduates' skills, to examine if do companies treat the professional accounting skills similar to technological skills, and to discover if there were any difference on the requirements of employers and the skills demonstrated by accounting graduates.

RAM disk uses the memory of a computer to construct a high speed, high reliable storage space. Though it is useful, there is little information on the development of RAM disk, especially on Microsoft Windows platform. On Windows platform, RAM disk has to be realized though writing Windows drivers. Implement drivers for Windows is a challenging task that only a small group of programmer can handle for many years. Now, with the new Windows Driver Foundation (WDF), this task is much easier. In this paper, Microsoft’s skeleton RAM disk driver in Windows Driver Kit (WDK) was analyzed and modified. At last, a full function, resizable RAM disk driver was got.

Windows Hello is a Fast IDentity Online- (FIDO-) based new login system for Windows 10, which provides a single sign-on (SSO) service to diverse online applications. Hardware protection is essential for Window Hello’s security. This paper aims to examine the security of Windows Hello on a device where hardware protection is unavailable. We present the first detailed analysis of Windows Hello’s security. The results show that, on a hardware-unsupported device, the authentication data for Windows Hello is not properly protected. We propose a migration attack to compromise Windows Hello’s security. In the proposed attack, an attacker extracts authentication data from a device to impersonate a victim in his or her Microsoft online account. We consider the possibility of such an attack to be serious and harmful to our society and demand immediate attention for remediation.

Abstract:
The Multiple Document Interface (MDI) is a Microsoft Windows specification that allows managing multiple documents using a single graphic interface application. An MDI application allows opening several documents simultaneously. Only one document is active at a particular time. MDI applications can be deployed using Win32 or Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC). Programs developed using Win32 are faster than those using MFC. However, Win32applications are difficult to implement and prone to errors. It should be mentioned that, learning how to properly use MFC to deploy MDI applications is not simple, and performance is typically worse than that of Win32 applications. A method to simplify the development of MDI applications using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is proposed. Subsequently, it is shown that this method generates compact code that is easier to read and maintain than other methods (i.e., MFC). Finally, it is demonstrated that the proposed method allowsthe rapid development of MDI applications without sacrificing application performance.

Abstract:
Organizations are continuously expanding their use of computer ser-vices. As the number of applications in an organization grows, so does the load on the user management. Registering and unregistering users both from within the organization and also from partner organizations, as well as managing their privileges and providing support all accumu-lates significant costs for the user management. FIdM is a solution that can centralize user management, allow partner organizations to feder-ate, ease users’ password management, provide SSO functionality and externalize the authentication logic from application development. An FIdM system with two organizations, AD FS and two applications have been deployed. The applications are constructed in .NET, with WIF, and in Java using a custom implementation of WS-Federation. In order to evaluate the system, a functional test and a security analysis have been performed. The result of the functional test shows that the system has been implemented successfully. With the use of AD FS, users from both organizations are able to authenticate within their own organization and are then able to access the applications in the organizations without any repeated authentication. The result of the security analysis shows that the overall security in the system is good. The use of AD FS does not allow anyone to bypass authentication. However, the standard integra-tion of WIF in the .NET application makes it more susceptible to a DoS attack. It has been indicated that FIdM can have positive effects on an organization’s user management, a user’s password management and login procedures, authentication logic in application development, while still maintaining a good level of security.

The report analyses if some common problems can be avoided by using modern technology. As a reference system “Fartygsrapporteringssystemet” is used. It is an n-tier web application built with modern technology at time, 2003-2004. The aim is to examine whether ASP.Net MVC, Windows Communication Foundation, Workflow Foundation and SQL Server 2005 Service Broker can be used to create an n-tier web application which also communicate with other systems and facilitate automated testing. The report describes the construction of a prototype in which the presentation layer uses ASP.Net MVC to separate presentation and business logic. Communication with the business layer is done through the Windows Communication Foundation. Hard coded processes are broken out and dealt with by Workflow Foundation. Asynchronous communication with other systems is done by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Broker. The results of the analysis is that these techniques can be used to create a n-tier web application, but that ASP.Net MVC, which at present only available in a preview release, is not sufficiently developed yet.

Abstract:
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural paradigm that allows building of infrastructures for diverse application interaction and integration via services across different platforms, domains of technology and locations. SOA differs from traditional architectures, as it focuses on integrating capabilities that are distributed and implemented using a mixture of technologies. SOA provides a set of methodologies and strategies to accomplish interoperability and integration among different technology stacks.   Vattenfall is the fifth the largest energy supplier within Europe. Having operational systems in different countries brings the challenge of integrating all these distributed systems and this integration is a vital requirement for Vattenfall. The company is currently using Microsoft proprietary products to achieve integration across different technological platform, but requires a better integration infrastructure which is easily extensible and cost effective.   This thesis investigates the impact of implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using open source or proprietary software products within Vattenfall, from technological and financial perspectives. For this purpose, different technical and non-technical function blocks are identified which are essential for the implementation of SOA. These function blocks are mapped with SOA solutions provided by Red Hat’s JBoss Open Source SOA Platform and Microsoft’s SOA Platform. After mapping, a vendor specific technical and non-technical comparative analysis is carried out based on the function blocks, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor.   Finally, an evaluation scheme is purposed based on the technical comparative analysis of vendors, SOA solution cost and SOA competence required. The results from this evaluation scheme are used to recommend the best solution vendor for Vattenfall Nordic. Moreover, this evaluation scheme can also be used to facilitate management in arriving at an appropriate decision about implementation of SOA, while remaining within their requirements and constraints.

Abstract:
In many scientific domains, such as bio-science, complex numerical experiments typically require many processing or analysis steps over huge datasets. They can be represented as scientific workflows. These workflows ease the modeling, management, and execution of computational activities linked by data dependencies. As the size of the data processed and the complexity of the computation keep increasing, these workflows become data-intensive. In order to execute such workflows within a reasonable timeframe, they need to be deployed in a high-performance distributed computing environment, such as the cloud.Plant phenotyping aims at capturing plant characteristics, such as morphological, topological, phenological features. High-throughput phenotyping (HTP) platforms have emerged to speed up the phenotyping data acquisition in controlled conditions (e.g. greenhouse) or in the field. Such platforms generate terabytes of data used in plant breeding and plant biology to test novel mechanisms. These datasets are stored in different geodistributed sites (data centers). Scientists can use a Scientific Workflow Management System (SWMS) to manage the workflow execution over a multisite cloud. In bio-science, it is common for workflow users to reuse other workflows or data generated by other users. Reusing and re-purposing workflows allow the user to develop new analyses faster. Furthermore, a user may need to execute a workflow many times with different sets of parameters and input data to analyze the impact of some experimental step, represented as a workflow fragment, i.e., a subset of the workflow activities and dependencies. In both cases, some fragments of the workflow may be executed many times, which can be highly resource-consuming and unnecessary long. Workflow re-execution can be avoided by storing the intermediate results of these workflow fragments and reusing them in later executions. In this thesis, we propose an adaptive caching solution for efficient execution of data-intensive workflows in monosite and multisite clouds. By adapting to the variations in tasks’ execution times, our solution can maximize the reuse of intermediate data produced by workflows from multiple users. Our solution is based on a new SWMS architecture that automatically manages the storage and reuse of intermediate data. Cache management is involved during two main steps: workflows preprocessing, to remove all fragments of the workflow that do not need to be executed; and cache provisioning, to decide at runtime which intermediate data should be cached. We propose an adaptive cache provisioning algorithm that deals with the variations in task execution times and the size of data. We evaluated our solution by implementing it in OpenAlea and performing extensive experiments on real data with a complex data-intensive application in plant phenotyping. Our main contributions are i) a SWMS architecture to handle caching and cache-aware scheduling algorithms when executing workflows in both monosite and multisite clouds, ii) a cost model that includes both financial and time costs for both the workflow execution, and the cache management, iii) two cache-aware scheduling algorithms one adapted for monosite and one for multisite cloud, and iv) and an experimental validation on a data-intensive plant phenotyping application

Abstract:
The key to autonomous mobile-robot navigation is effective path planning and accurate self-localisation. The lack of self-localisation or inaccurate self-localisation makes any nonholonomic autonomous mobile robot blind in a navigation environment and will deter the robot’s ability to complete path following. In the last several years, many different systems have been considered for self-localisation, from using visual odometry to using a satellite triangulation method, better known as a global position system or GPS. All of these have benefits and detriments, the solution proposed here endeavors to offer more benefits than detriments, utilizing a novel method for self-localisation, employing a dual bearing finder digital compass configuration to resolve the relative location of an autonomous nonholonomic wheeled mobile robot. To facilitate the novel hybrid method, the utilization of the mobile robot’s multiple sensors, dual wheel quadrature shaft encoders and the digital compasses are required. To support the hardware requirements of the novel localisation methodology, the cutting edge technology of a 200 MHz 32-bit ARM 9 processor on a GHI ChipworkX module are employed. The software architecture is based on the Microsoft .NET Micro Framework 4.1 using C# and the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). Without the inputs from the dual compass configuration it would not be possible to solve the relative position of the mobile robot analytical. Without the dual compass configuration only a numeric solution is possible, which decelerates the localisation process. The mobile robot’s digital compasses are marked with unnatural markers, for faster identification by an overhead camera. Using the overhead camera tracking results and comparing the telemetry collected by the mobile robot, using the analytical equations, the validation of this method is proven. The most fundamental part of implementing a successful maneuverable nonholonomic mobile robot is accurate self-localisation telemetry. The biggest concern about using a self-localisation technique is the amount of computation it will require to complete the task. Ideally, having an analytical solution to position offers the benefit of a single solution, where the numeric solution has many solutions and requires more time and computation to derive the solution. The benefit of the dual compass configuration is that it offers an analytical solution to the hybrid model that utilizes quadrature shaft encoders and digital compasses. This methodology evidently presents a novel approach where visual odometry is not possible.
