Abstract:
Electronic equipment made using old technology or electronic equipment in the entry-level category has not been supported by networking equipment, so for the data communication process, the microcontroller requires interfacing facilities that are in accordance with the electronic equipment used, such as a USB port. With the microcontroller that supports IoT, it allows electronic equipment to communicate over the network. An IoT microcontroller such as the ESP32 is equipped with a WiFi feature but is not equipped with a USB controller feature, while the USB Host max3421e supports the communication process using SPI, so that those two microcontrollers can be used to form an interface using the SPI bus. This interface can be applied to electronic equipment with old technology and entry level electronic equipment for wireless communication. For the needs of making an interface between the ESP32 and max3421e, a software was developed by analyzing the SPI features of the ESP32 and the USB protocol according to the USB device state diagram. The results obtained are the handshake process between systems developed with USB devices in the Low-Speed and Full-Speed categories such as printers, flashdisk, bluetooth mouse and external hard disk, and the device descriptor data of each device tested can be read properly.

Abstract:
The absence of props remains a constraint on the learning process interfacing subjects where students have difficulty understanding the material obtained, besides because of the lack of microcontroller practice experience, students don't understand how to operate the microcontroller and also because of the lack of basic knowledge about the microcontroller. The design of the microcontroller interface trainer is intended as a teaching aid to help understand microcontroller interfacing using the UART, SPI, and I2C protocols and can be used as an Internet of Things teaching aid to help students practice monitoring and controlling input output on microcontrollers using smartphones over the internet. In designing this trainer, the author had made direct observations on learning activities in interfacing subjects and conducted questions and answers with several students. This trainer uses RFID, RTC and LCD modules as interfacing props that are connected to the ESP32 microcontroller, and there are components in the form of LEDs and potentiometers to practice the concept of the Internet of Things. The GPIO header pins and microcontroller interface pins expansion are also available on this trainer which can be connected with more modules and other components. Modules and components in the design of this trainer are connected with the ESP32 microcontroller in one integrated circuit board so as to provide practicality in its use.

Abstract:
The objective developed from this research is to utilize Smart Home with an integrated ESP32 microcontroller with a camera and MC-38 door magnetic switch sensor based on the Internet of Things (IoT) as a research base to detect the security of arumsari earth housing in Cirebon District when left by its inhabitants. ESP32 microcontroller which can be programmed via arduino IDE, then functioned to respond to the integrated camera so that it can transmit images when the MC-38 sensor door magnetic switch sensor is active. Technically the combination of the ESP32 microcontroller and MC-38 door magnetic switch sensor, which was developed as a prototype in this study is called the arumsari housing early detection system. The mechanism of the arumsari housing early detection system is when a house door or window is successfully forcibly broken without going through the system mechanism, then automatically an image or can also be developed into a video from a camera mounted on an ESP32 microcontroller will send the image through a web framework or smartphone as a form early warning of security to housing owners. The results obtained from this study are at the angle of normally open MC-38 door magnetic switch sensor of 60 - 1800, will work sending an image signal which means there is an indication of a burglar or unknown person entering the house. Whereas at the normally closed angle MC-38 door magnetic switch sensor is 00-50, it will not work sending an image signal which means the house is safe.

Abstract:
This thesis presents how deep learning can be utilized for detecting humans ina wildlife setting using image classification. Two different solutions have beenimplemented where both of them use a camera-equipped microprocessor to cap-ture the images. In one of the solutions, the deep learning model is run on themicroprocessor itself, which requires the size of the model to be as small as pos-sible. The other solution sends images from the microprocessor to a more pow-erful computer where a larger object detection model is run. Both solutions areevaluated using standard image classification metrics and compared against eachother. To adapt the models to the wildlife environment, transfer learningis usedwith training data from a similar setting that has been manually collected andannotated. The thesis describes a complete system’s implementation and results, including data transfer, parallel computing, and hardware setup. One of the contributions of this thesis is an algorithm that improves the classifi-cation performance on images where a human is far away from the camera. Thealgorithm detects motion in the images and extracts only the area where thereis movement. This is specifically important on the microprocessor, where theclassification model is too simple to handle those cases. By only applying theclassification model to this area, the task is more simple, resulting in better per-formance. In conclusion, when integrating this algorithm, a model running onthe microprocessor gives sufficient results to run as a camera trap for humans. However, test results show that this implementation is still quite underperform-ing compared to a model that is run on a more powerful computer.

Abstract:
I noticed that the workers had the same itinerary when emptying trashcans, meanwhile trashcans needed urgently to be emptied. Traditionally, ETSU maintenance operate on daily routes to pick trash on designated time, regardless the level of the containers. This leads to overflown trashcan in busy areas or during rush hours in certain areas. This overflown trashcan result in an unclean environment for the community and an unpleasant look of our beautiful campus. The time, resources and labor invested in collecting the trash could be saved. Therefore, I decided to use the Internet of Things (IoT) to create a device that will optimize trash collection, to reduce costs and pollution. The Eco-Smart Can will contain a renewable source of energy such as the solar panel. Furthermore, it will have a compactor as well to decrease the trash volume. The system in the Eco-Smart can will give prior information of the trash level to maintenance facility so that they can empty the trash in a timely manner and preserve the environment.

Abstract:
In the last decades there has been a steep decrease in the price of electronics. This decrease has favored an exponential increase of all types of consumer electronics. The ubiquity of these devices makes them almost inseparable from their users. One area benefiting and at the same time further increasing this ubiquity is the Internet of Things, IoT, in other words the possibility of having a constant connection and data sharing amongst the most diverse devices. In parallel with the development of IoT solutions designed for Industrial use, some other low-cost devices such as the Arduino have appeared, which enable the development of small IoT projects economically. Besides the Arduino other products such as the ESP8266 and ESP32 boards by Espressif have been gaining popularity in recent years. The aim of this project is the development of a low cost, autonomous monitoring solution that is of use for the academic community. This system should collect environmental data such as temperature, humidity, noise pollution and make an estimation of the occupancy of a certain zone through the ubiquity of mobile devices by capturing their Wi-Fi request probes. The information collected will be made available for the academic community, giving the possibility of students to select the best study room based on the occupancy or noise level of the different rooms. The main constituents of the project are the ESP32s with the associated sensors named Sensing Boxes, and the necessary software component and infrastructure to process the data collected and provide it to interested parties. In addition to this main objective, it is important to understand and document the potentialities of the ESP32 in low-cost projects as its development methodologies available. In a sense provide a guideline of the most important topics about this board and some sensors for anyone developing a project of similar nature. The system was tested in two contexts, one of domestic nature, and in order to fine tune and debug the system, the other in the context to which it was originally idealized, the campus of University of Madeira.

Abstract:
This chapter presents a design proposal for low-cost speed control and electrical fault mitigation of three-phase induction motors. The proposed system can control and monitor TIMs (three-phase induction motors) from far-flung areas. Here authors have proposed a relay-free system for fast fault clearance. IoT technology and low-cost microcontrollers have helped in achieving a system that is more reliable, economical, user friendly, and fast. It can be controlled by mobile application at the comfort of home. Data related to fault occurrence can be stored and analyzed for preventive maintenance. V/f scalar control method is used for speed control of TIM and able to control it in a wide range. Electrical faults such as over-current, over-temperature, over-voltage, and under-voltage are considered in this chapter. Simulation of the proposed design is done using Proteus 8 software. ESP32 is used to runs a web server that connects the mobile app with simulation.
