Abstract:
This paper presents two methods of architectural conception and articulation based on the idea of type. One method conceives of architecture as a predetermined entity, claiming that architecture has a plan, a programme that determines its emergence based on a specific type prior to its coming into being. The other method, based on digital design processes and genetic algorithms, focuses on the procedures of architectural becoming. The essay claims that while the latter method attempts to release the emergence of the architectural entity from predetermined formal or functional typological definitions, it in fact suggests new ways of defining the historical idea of architectural types. Based on genotypic and phenotypic procedures, the latter method bases the evolution of the architectural type on predetermined typological information, yet at the same time it allows the emergence of the architectural entity as part of undetermined flows. As such, it proposes a new temporal structure in architecture – one that is based on flows and motions.

Abstract:
Covariations in neuronal latency or excitability can lead to peaks in spike train covariograms that may be very similar to those caused by spike timing synchronization (see companion article). Two quantitative methods are described here. The first is a method to estimate the excitability component of a covariogram, based on trial-by-trial estimates of excitability. Once estimated, this component may be subtracted from the covariogram, leaving only other types of contributions. The other is a method to determine whether the covariogram could potentially have been caused by latency covariations.

Abstract:
A new method for determining the exterior-constitutional types based on the determination of the mass-specific coefficient (CMR) using 4 body measurements and the animal's live weight was developed and proposed according. Depending on the size of the UMK, the cows were classified into three exterior-constitutional types: loose ( 1.36 and less), intermediate (1.37-1.54) and dense (1.55 or more) types. The aim of the work was to differentiate the full-aged cows of the red steppe breed of the intra-breed type "Kubansky" (n = 146) according to the types of constitution and the study of the immunobiological status of the organism, the level of milk productivity and reproductive capacity. It was found that the highest specific gravity of cows was found in a dense body type - 46.2%, which is 11.6% higher in individuals of intermediate type and 27.0% in loose body type. The yield of cows of loose type of constitution was higher than that of other types of individuals on average by 254-335 kg (P 0.95) with an average milk yield for the experimental population - 5496 kg. At the same time, cows belonging to the loose type of constitution, produced more fat and protein milk milk, whose superiority over dense-type contemporaries was 0.11 (P 0.99) and 0.09% (P 0.999), respectively. The best preserved cows were of dense type, the production use of which was much higher than that of peers of loose type. Despite the greater yield of cows of loose type for a separate lactation, this did not provide them with an advantage in terms of lifetime productivity, they were inferior to dense animals on an average of 2109 kg of milk.

Abstract:
In huge reinforced concrete structures, it is often difficult to distribute the reinforcing bars, especially at the connection regions, to keep the spacing between bars within the minimum acceptable limits as recommended in the global specifications standard, by using the common methods such as, overlapping or welding, therefore, a new method for bonding was introduced, using mechanical joints and electro fusion bonding method, and comparing these methods with the maximum strength of reinforcing bars without joints and the failure location within maximum strength limits outside the joints.

Abstract:
Landform classification is a necessary task for various fields of landscape and regional planning, for example for landscape evaluation, erosion studies, hazard prediction, et al. This study proposes an improved object-based classification for Chinese landform types using the factor importance analysis of random forest and the gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM). In this research, based on 1km DEM of China, the combination of the terrain factors extracted from DEM are selected by correlation analysis and Sheffield's entropy method. Random forest classification tree is applied to evaluate the importance of the terrain factors, which are used as multi-scale segmentation thresholds. Then the GLCM is conducted for the knowledge base of classification. The classification result was checked by using the 1:4,000,000 Chinese Geomorphological Map as reference. And the overall classification accuracy of the proposed method is 5.7% higher than ISODATA unsupervised classification, and 15.7% higher than the traditional object-based classification method.

Abstract:
The study focused on the efficacy of ultrasonic method for identifying vegetable oils and their mixtures in the formulation of frying oil and its ability in authentication of virgin olive oil. The ultrasonic propagation properties (velocity and Time of Flight (TOF)) were used to classify oil samples and their mixtures at 1 MHz. The results revealed the ability to classify oil types in terms of their level of un-saturation, besides it is to identify oil mixtures. Each oil sample could be grouped into different clusters using ultrasonic parameters. Hence, ultrasonic could be used to discriminate the vegetable oil types and their mixtures effectively as a rapid and continuous method in the industrial in-line quality control system of vegetable oils and their mixtures.

Abstract:
Morphological characteristics of cities significantly influence urban heat island intensities and thermal responses to heat waves. Form attributes such as density, compactness, and vegetation cover are commonly used to analyse the impact of urban morphology on overheating processes. However, the use of abstract large-scale classifications hinders a full understanding of the thermal trade-off between single buildings and their immediate surrounding microclimate. Without analytical tools able to capture the complexity of cities with a high resolution, the microspatial dimension of urban climate phenomena cannot be properly addressed. Therefore, this study develops a new method for numerical identification of types, based on geometrical characteristics of buildings and climate-related form attributes of their surroundings in a 25m and 50m radius. The method, applied to the city of Rotterdam, combines quantitative descriptors of urban form, mapping GIS procedures, and clustering techniques. The resulting typo-morphological classification is assessed by modelling temperature, wind, and humidity during a hot summer period, in ENVI-met. Significant correlations are found between the morphotypes’ characteristics and local climate phenomena, highlighting the differences in performative potential between the classified urban patterns. The study suggests that the method can be used to provide insight into the systemic relations between buildings, their context, and the risk of overheating in different urban settings. Finally, the study highlights the relevance of advanced mapping and modelling tools to inform spatial planning and mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of urban overheating.

Abstract:
In this study, a relatively new method to solve partial differential equations (PDEs) called the fractional reduced differential transform method (FRDTM) is used. The implementation of the method is based on an iterative scheme in series form. We test the proposed method to solve nonlinear fractional Burgers equations in one, two coupled, and three dimensions. To show the efficiency and accuracy of this method, we compare the results with the exact solutions, as well as some established methods. Approximate solutions for different values of fractional derivatives together with exact solutions and absolute errors are represented graphically in two and three dimensions. From all numerical results, we can conclude the efficiency of the proposed method for solving different types of nonlinear fractional partial differential equations over existing methods.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Camellia sinensis, a widely used plant, optimally grows in a low pH soil that in most cases contains high amounts of aluminum. Objectives: The aluminum content of the tea obtained from Camellia sinensis and other plants was compared. The influence of pH on the aluminum content of the tea was also measured. Materials and methods: The aluminum content of 48 samples was measured using a colorimetric method. The method is based on the ability of aluminum to form a stable complex with xylenol orange at low pH; this complex has an absorption maximum of 555 nm. Results: The method was validated for tea obtained with water and for tea obtained with water containing citric acid. The method proved linear over the rage of 0.7 – 7 ug/ml, coefficient of variation ranged between 2.6 – 7.68% (was dependent on the pH of the solution used to obtain the tea), accuracy was suitable for quantitative measurement (92.39-102.92%) and the complex proved to be stable for at least 1 hour. The following concentrations were measured: green tea (1.59 - 7.70 µg/ml), black tea (1.39 - 5.60 µg/ml), fruit tea (1.01 - 5.63 µg/ml) and herbal tea (1.03 - 5.24 µg/ml). Conclusion: The method proved useful and easily applicable for screening aluminum content of plants used for tea brewing. Camellia sinensis both green and black types had significantly higher aluminum contents than other type of teas. Adding citric acid, as would result from use of lemon juice, significantly increased the aluminum extraction from the plants used for tea brewing.

Abstract:
In the present work, hydroxyapatite (HAp) were synthesised from three types eggshells (hen eggshells, duck eggsshells and quail eggsshells) by co-precipitation method. By using recycled eggshells, there were calcined at 700-900 °C for 2 h to form calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Then, CaCO3 and ammonium dihydrogenphosphate (NH4H2PO4) were used as precursor to produce HAp. The molar ratio of Ca to P was 1.67 : 1. In order to determine the most suitable calcination temperature to produce HAp based on purity of CaCO3, HAp were investigated over the temperatures range of 800-1100 °C for 2 h. Phase formation and microstructure evolution of HAp samples were determined by using (XRD), (SEM) and (FTIR) respectively. The results showed that CaCO3 formed at 700 °C for 2 h of all eggshell types. XRD investigations show that HAp powder were stable up to 1100 °C with hexagonal structure. SEMinvestigations demonstrate that the HAp powder obtained with a sphere morphology and FTIR confirmed that the HAp powder calcined at 1100 °C corresponded to the phosphate group in PO43- with significant characteristic peaks at 1026.5 and 563.9 cm-1.

Abstract:
Abstract The shelterwood method is used to regenerate an even-age stand under an existing partial canopy. The method is not widely used: however, it is becoming recognized as the best way for regenerating Allegheny hardwoods. The method should be applicable with most tree species of the Northeast and has good potential as an environmentally and esthetically acceptable means of practicing even-age management. Advantages, difficulties, and examples of applications are discussed. North. J. Appl. For. 5:70-77, March 1988.

Abstract:
The concept of arguments schemes is fundamental for argumentation studies; but its implementation is not obvious. The first section of this contribution briefly starts from the concepts of argument scheme, typology of arguments schemes, and the foundational catalogue of 28 topoi from Aristotle's Rhetoric. The application of the "topical method" is first based on the knowledge of typologies of arguments, and then on the precise features defining an argument type. The practical question that remains is how to connect an argumentative passage to an argument type. The second part of this article presents a case based on the topos from opposites.

Abstract:
The paper provides an overview of studies of infrasound signals from thunderstorms over a period of more than 30 years. We deal with several types of infrasound signals from thunderstorms detected at the ISTP SB RAS infrasound station Badary in Buryatia. Special attention is paid to signals arising during the rarefaction phase. A mechanism for generating signals of this type by converting the energy of the electrostatic field into fluctuations in the pressure field was proposed by Dessler in 1973. We propose a method for identifying thunderstorm infrasound signals of various types: 1 — signals from an expanding thermal lightning channel; 2 — signals with an electrostatic generation mechanism. Using infrasound signals recorded earlier at the station in Buryatia as an example, we discuss the validity of the thunderstorm cloud model and assess some parameters of the thunderstorm source of infrasound.
