Full textThe isoperimetric problem in a metric measured space consists in finding the sets having minimal boundary measure, with prescribed volume. It can be formulated in various settings (general metric measured spaces, Riemannian manifolds, submanifolds of the Euclidean space, ...). At this point, two questions arise : - What are the optimal sets, namely the sets having smallest boundary measure (it has to be said that they do not always exist) ? - What is the smallest boundary measure ? The solution to the second answer can be expressed by a function called the isoperimetric profile. This function maps a value of (prescribed) measure onto the corresponding smallest boundary measure. As for the precise notion of boundary measure, it can be defined in different ways (Minkowski content, geometric perimeter, ...), all of them closely linked to the ambient distance and measure. The main object of this thesis is the study of the isoperimetric problem in product spaces, in order to transfer isoperimetric inequalities from factor spaces to the product spaces, or to compare their isoperimetric profiles. The thesis is divided into four parts : - Study of the symmetrization operation (for sets) and the rearrangement operation (for functions), analogous notions, from the point of view of Geometric Measure Theory and Bounded Variation functions. These operations cause the boundary measure to decrease (for sets), or the variation (for functions). We introduce a new class of model spaces, for which we obtain similar results to those concerning classic model spaces : transfer of isoperimetric inequalities to the product spaces, energy comparison (for convex functionals). - Detailed proof of an argument of minorization of the isoperimetric profile of a metric measured product space XxY by a function depending on the profiles of X and Y, for a wide class of product distances over XxY. The study of this problem uses the minimization of a functional defined on Radon measures class. - Study of the isoperimetric problem in a metric measured space (n times the same space) equipped with the uniform combination of its distance (uniform enlargement). We give a condition under which every isoperimetric profile (whatever the order of iteration might be) is bounded from below by a quantity which is proportional to the isoperimetric profile of the underlying space. We then apply the result to geometric influences. - Study of isoperimetric functional inequalities, which give information about the isoperimetric behavior of the product spaces. We give an overview of the results about this kind of inequalities, and suggest a method to prove such an inequality in a particular case of real measures for which the problem reamins open

Full textIn the first part of this thesis, we study the convergence of two different random series. We give some sufficient conditions on the sequence (ak)k, on the random independent variables (Xk)k, such that for almost every ω, to have the uniform convergence or almost everywhere convergence of Σk ak f(x(X1+. . . +Xk)(ω)) for a certain class of functions f. We also find some sufficient conditions on (ak)k and on the random independent variables (Xk)k to have a certain class of function g ϵ L²(μ) and a certain class of operator {Tt,t ϵ G} such that the series Σk ak T^{(X1+. . . +Xk)(ω)}(g)(x) converge in L²(μ) or for μ-almost every x. In the second part, we prove some necessary and sufficient condition for an inhomogeneous Markov measure to be a quasi-Bernoulli measure or a weak quasi-Bernoulli measure. We apply this condition on the Bernoulli measure. We proved that a Bernoulli measure which only has some non-negative probability is a weak quasi-Bernoulli measure, then it is a quasi-Bernoulli measure. The last part is devoted to the study of a uniform hitting problem in an exponentially mixing dynamical system. This is a random covering problem driven by an exponentially mixing stationary process. For such a covering, among others, we obtain a satisfactory estimation on the covering numbers

Full textConcurrency has an important role in modern systems and programming. It reveals the phenomenon that multiple computations run simultaneously. These interleaved executions cause the so-called "State explosion problem". In this thesis, we aim at constructing a probabilistic framework on the executions of concurrent systems for the purpose of random generation. The uniform measure of executions is inspired by trace monoids defined on infinite traces. Trace theory has a strong combinatorial foundation around the Möbius polynomial. The irreducibility of trace monoids implies the strong connectivity of the digraph of cliques. Hence, a dominant eigenvalue exists and determines the growth rate of trace monoids. In our work, we view the abstract concurrent systems as monoid actions on a finite set of states. This setting encompasses 1-bounded Petri nets. We give two interpretations to a uniform measure of executions for concurrent systems. One is constructed by the elementary cylinders in trace monoids. This uniform measure is realized a Markov chain of states-and-cliques. The other is to study the Parry measure on the digraph of states-and-cliques. The difficulty to extend to concurrent systems is that the Perron-Frobenius theorem is not applicable. To resolve this problem, we found the spectral property of the irreducible concurrent systems. This allows us to distinguish the main components which determine the characteristic root of the system. We also prove the uniqueness of this uniform measure. The transition matrix can be obtained either from the Markov chain of states-and-cliques or from the Parry measure with the spectral radius of the dominant components

Full textMy thesis lies at the intersection of \textit{geometric group theory} and \textit{measured group theory}. A major question in geometric group theory is to study the quasi-isometry (QI) class and the measure equivalence (ME) class of a group, respectively. $L^p$-measure equivalence is an equivalence relation which is defined by adding some geometric constraints with measure equivalence. Besides, quasi-isometry is a geometric condition. It is a natural question if two groups are QI and ME, whether they are $L^p$-ME for some $p>0$. In my first paper, together with R. Tessera, we answer this question negatively for $p\geq 1$, showing that the canonical central extension of a surface group of higher genus is not $L^1$-ME to the direct product of this surface group with $\mathbb{Z}$ (while they are both quasi-isometric and measure equivalent). In my second paper, I observed a general link between the geometry of expanders arising as a sequence of finite quotients (box space) of a finitely generated group, and the measured theoretic properties of the group. More precisely, I proved that if two box spaces' are quasi-isometric, then the corresponding groups must be `uniformly measure equivalent', a notion that combines both quasi-isometry and measure equivalence. I also prove a version of this result for coarse embedding, allowing to distinguish many classes of expanders. For instance, I show that the expanders associated to $SL(m,\mathbb{Z})$ do not coarsely embed inside the expanders associated to $SL_n(\mathbb{Z}$ if $m>n$

Full textThis manuscript deals with the synthesis of high gain observers for nonlinear systems with sampled and delayed outputs. Three contributions are proposed for consideration in this manuscript. The first contribution, for a class of Multi-input / Multi-output systems whose outputs are grouped into a single block, involves the problem of the acquisition process of output measurements (continuous, sampled, delayed or not) and proposes a common framework for all possible cases. The second contribution proposes a filtered high gain observer on this same class of systems in order to reduce the sensitivity to measurement noise, in the case where the output is continuous and then in the case where the latter is sampled. The last contribution aims to extend the standard high gain synthesis for a large class of uniformly observable Multi-input / Multi-output systems with continuous output measurements. For each of these contributions, it has been shown that the observation error of each of the proposed observers converges exponentially towards zero in the absence of uncertainties in the system. All these contributions have been illustrated through several examples from different fields of study

Full textBirkhoff’s ergodic theorem gives us information about the convergence of sequences of functions. We are then interested in studying the mean and pointwise convergence of these sequences, but in the case the sequence is a strictly increasing sequence of positive integers. With that goal in mind, we will define uniform sequences and study the pointwise convergence for these sequences. We will also explore the possibility that there exists some sequences for which the convergence of the sequence does not occur. We will present a result of Alexandra Bellow that says that such sequences exist. Finally, we will prove a result which establishes an equivalence between the notion of a strongly mixing transformation and the convergence of a sequence that uses “weights” which satisfies certain properties.
