Full textAir pollution caused by road traffic, particularly non-exhaust particles, represents a major public health and environmental concern. The characterization and assessment of tire-road contact particles {TRCP) is complex due to their mode of generation and their physicochemical properties, with a variability of results due to the absence of metralogical and methodological standardization. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) thesis has and elaborated an an-board analytical platform far the monitoring and collecting TRCP emissions under real vehicle usage conditions on five types of routes. A chemical labelling protocol, specifically targeting tire wear particles, was also developed. The TRCP collected were analyzed by electron microscope coupled to micro-EDX to identify tire-road wear particles (TRWP). The results show that driving style has a greater influence an TRCP emissions than environmental factors. Depending on the type of route, TWP emissions from the labelled tire represent a mass share of between 1.9% and 8.3% of TRCP emissions. The morphological and textural variety of TRWP observed reflects the different post-emission wear processes and transformation mechanisms. Majority elements remain stable, while the variability of minority elements is linked to different contaminants sources

Full textThe development of micro-systems in large scale production requires fast and successful means of test and characterization. This research work consists of proposing and implementing surface characterization algorithms in a real time measurement system in which the taking into account the time constraints is just as important as the quality of the metrological measurements. In this work, we are particularly interested in the development of techniques based on white light scanning interferometry such as PFSM "Peak Fringe Scanning Microscopy" and FSA "Five Sample non-linear Adaptive Algorithm". The aims of this work are twofold. Firstly we present the results of the modeling and simulation of two algorithms that correspond to our requirements, namely PFSM and FSA at a functional level under MATLAB and at a behavioral level under VHDL in order to validate them. Secondly we present some results of high speed image acquisition using post processing in order to demonstrate the potential of the technique, in which a 3D measurement rate of 18 i/s has been achieved for a depth of 7 μm, with an axial sensitivity of 15 nm

Full textMore and more automotive services are designed using embedded software, including those related to electrical vehicles as well as multimedia and driving aids. Managing the development costs of embedded software is a major challenge to ensure the competitiveness of Renault. The thesis is part of an industry research project to improve the management of these software development costs. An estimation process based on the use of productivity models of software development allows the management of development costs. The creation of a productivity model is based on the measurement of an attribute of the software, its functional size, and on the data effort provided by the supplier. The industrial problem to be addressed first is the cost estimation of future software development on the basis of their functional requirements modeled with a specific language or modeling tool. By measurement the functional size of its functional requirements using the COSMIC ISO 19761 ISO standard, Renault SAS is able to benchmark, select suppliers to whom it will entrust the development of its software products and negotiate specific development projects. The main purpose of this research project is the automation of the measurement of functional size of reactive, real-time and embedded systems software using their functional requirements, and according to the ISO 19761 COSMIC method

Full textThe reduction of CO2 emissions and environmental footprint represents a major challenge for the automotive industry in the 21st century, with approximately 72% of greenhouse gas emissions in the European transportation sector attributed to road transport. To address this issue, automotive manufacturers are increasingly focusing on reducing the environmental footprint of their vehicles and minimizing energy consumption. In this context, car aerodynamics plays a crucial role. This study therefore explores the challenges and opportunities associated with real-time control of vehicle’s wakes using a Predictive Control with Recursive model estimation based on a Subspace method (RSPC). We first characterize the wake of a full-scale vehicle, both in wind tunnel and on-road. The results highlight the importance of low-frequency phenomenons and quasi-static wake movements. Subsequently, we implement a control methodology aimed at regulating the angular positions of rigid flaps located at the base of the studied models to maintain a prescribed base pressure state. Among the significant results, we note that the control law succeeds in achieving defined objectives under varied conditions, including variations in yaw angle and disturbances in the underflow through the use of a movable grid placed upstream of the vehicle. The observed benefits in terms of aerodynamic drag are remarkable and model-dependent, while maintaining relatively low energy consumption. The latter varies between 0.35% and 0.6% of the dissipated aerodynamic power. In conclusion, this study opens new perspectives for vehicle aerodynamic control, offering significant opportunities for energy consumption reduction and, consequently, greenhouse gas emissions. It thus aim to mitigating the effects of climate change

Full textRepetitive Negative Thinking (RNT) refers to a style of recurring, relatively uncontrollable and prolonged thoughts about one’s current, past or anticipated negative experiences. This transdiagnostic mental process is shared across a wide range of psychological disorders, including alcohol use disorders (AUD). The current thesis examined the link between RNT and alcohol use among patients suffering from an AUD in a processual perspective. The systematic review of the literature on the relationship between RNT and alcohol use highlighted some questions about the impact of sex and anxious or depressed symptoms. To address these unanswered questions, we conducted an ecological study in real time through the use of an electronical application assessing RNT, mood and alcohol consumption among AUD patients. To accomplish this aim, two transdiagnostic scales evaluating RNT were validated. The Perseverative Thinking Questionnaire assessed RNT-traits which is the habitual tendency to have RNT, and the Momentary Ruminative Self-Focus Inventory examined RNT-state which is the use of RNT at the time of the assessment. Results of this thesis demonstrated that the link between RNT and alcohol use was direct. They are discussed according to the triphasic metacognitive formulation of problem drinking. The interest of validating the Rumination-focused Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy for AUD patients is developed.Repetitive Negative Thinking (RNT) refers to a style of recurring, relatively uncontrollable and prolonged thoughts about one’s current, past or anticipated negative experiences.
