Abstract:
Nell'immagine storiografica diffusa, l'economia settecentesca si presenta come una macchina che produce sviluppo e, al tempo stesso, dominazione e emarginazione. Ai suoi vertici si collocherebbero potenze superiori sotto il profilo della capacitÀ produttiva, mercantile e politico-militare; all'altra estremitÀ, residuerebbero spazi secondari, praticabili da soggetti privi di ambizioni, relegati dentro circuiti locali in grado di affacciarsi a quelli piů ampi solo in un nesso di subordinazione, o collocandosi sul crinale fra lecito e illecito. Accogliendo suggestioni presenti in studi recenti, l'a. prova a sfumare e complicare questa immagine, sottolineando come una parte significativa dell'espansione commerciale mediterranea settecentesca veda come protagonisti soggetti, luoghi e pratiche spesso privi di capitali rilevanti, saperi codificati e protezioni statali robuste. Il nuovo protagonismo dei "Genovesi" al centro di questo contributo non si pone in continuitÀ con la gloriosa storia del commercio e della finanza genovesi fra tardo medioevo e prima etÀ moderna. Essi sono in realtÀ micro-mercanti provenienti non dalla Dominante, ma da alcuni borghi costieri liguri. Non restano tuttavia figure marginali: riescono invece a fuoriuscire dall'andirivieni del piccolo cabotaggio e a diventare protagonisti di una parte significativa del commercio in grande, inventando modi di fare mercato, strumenti inediti per acquisire informazione e fiducia. Alla base della loro vitalitÀ vi č un anche rapporto forte e mai interrotto con i villaggi natali: minuscoli centri costieri, debolissimi sotto il profilo demografico, istituzionale, commerciale e finanziario, ma al tempo stesso custodi di un capitale relazionale importante, di funzioni mercantili decisive per il loro successo imprenditoriale. Tratteggiando biografie individuali e di gruppo, il saggio suggerisce l'immagine di un Mediterraneo settecentesco affollato di attori, pratiche e luoghi non sempre canonici. Ignorandoli e concentrandosi esclusivamente sulle grandi imprese mercantili, sulle grandi "nazioni" protette da mercantilismi prepotenti, si rischierebbe di non comprendere il funzionamento di questo mercato in una fase decisiva della sua trasformazione.

I MERCANTI DI MESSINANella storiografia tradizionale, i mercanti di Messina appariscono come l'unico caso di cittadini dell'Italia meridonale nel tardo medioevo attivi sulla rete commerciale del Mediterraneo. L'articolo tenta di identificare un gruppo di Messinesi del tardo Duecento e dei primi anni del Trecento chi possedevano investimenti nel commercio levantino; il punto di partenza è la collezione di contratti commerciali lasciati dal notaio genovese Lamberto di Sambuceto, ed alcuni contratti messinesi e documenti pubblici del governo aragonese. Infatti esisteva uno stretto nesso fra commercianti e risorse Messinesi: il vino della Sicilia orientale era venduto ad Acri dai messinesi; la presenza di Genovesi, Pisani ed altri, basati in Messina ed attivi nel commercio di Cipro e dell' Armenia, è documentata. I mercanti messinesi, sebbene sotto una tutela settentrionale, avevano un ruolo permanente nel commercio del Mediterraneo nel tardo medioevo, un ruolo che riflette la nuova importanza della città come punto centrale nella rete mediterranea dopo la conquista normanna.

Abstract:
Dopo aver svelato parte della storia e dell’attività di Giulio Sambon (1837-1921) con la sua «Impresa di Vendite in Italia» a Milano, Firenze, Roma e Napoli,1 si propone un approfondimento sul suo incontro con il mercante d’arte Francesco Molinari (1813-1866). Quest’ultimo, attivo in Italia e probabilmente anche in Europa, si colloca nel panorama del collezionismo milanese della seconda metà dell’Ottocento con una particolare attenzione alle opere d’arte lombarda, configurandosi un crocevia ancora non indagato del secolo dei conoscitori. L’occasione che ha portato i due mercanti ad avvicinarsi è stata la chiusura del negozio che Molinari aveva a Milano, per la cui occasione questi chiama Sambon per allestire un’asta con quanto ancora in esposizione. L’episodio diventa l’inizio della dispersione di una raccolta che conta più di 350 opere, documentata attraverso cataloghi d’asta e certificati d’esportazione che mischiano informazioni di carattere storico-artistico e di gusto.

Nell'Europa di metÀ ottocento i mercanti banchieri furono gli artefici principali della rivoluzione finanziaria, ossia della formazione della banca ‘moderna' e dei mercati finanziari collegati allo sviluppo di societÀ anonime. In Italia ebbero difficoltÀ ad affermare forme di specializzazione, coordinamento, conquista di spazi e di ruoli. La loro azione risentě di un ambiente politico e economico parcellizzato e chiuso in ambiti locali. La concorrenza dei banchieri dellacontribuě al cambiamento ma anche a indebolire potenzialitÀ e dinamiche autonome. Il frazionamento politico, in particolare, ebbe conseguenze rilevanti sulla formazione di un mercato nazionale di titoli pubblici e ritardň la crescita dell'emissione stessa di titoli privati (di ferrovie e banche). Negli stati preunitari molte furono le iniziative, poche quelle che andarono a buon fine. Il debito pubblico e lo sviluppo di alcune istituzioni bancarie seguě percorsi differenziati tra prima e dopo il 1848 per Regno delle Due Sicilie e Stato pontificio, da una parte, e gli altri stati, dall'altra. Per primi l'esposizione debitoria fu particolarmente rilevante dopo la Restaurazione per ragioni diverse dal crescente indebitamento che dopo il 1848 interessň i secondi, Regno di Sardegna, in particolare, dove servě a finanziare guerre e ferrovie. Con l'UnitÀ il peso delle divisioni continuň a disgregare gli interessi e le istanze sociali e territoriali, contribuendo all'insuccesso del programma di centralizzazione del credito (banca d'emissione unica, un grande istituto di credito fondiario e agricolo) secondo un disegno coerente e ambizioso. Prevalsero invece soluzioni di ripiego che finirono per limitare le possibilitÀ di crescita della banca privata in Italia, senza ridurre ancora l'influenza della finanza estera.

La metà del secolo XV fu per la Corona d’Aragona e specialmente per Barcellona un periodo complicato: Alfonso V era impegnato nelle guerre italiane, in particolare contro Firenze e Milano, Genova e Venezia; il Regno di Napoli era stato annesso all’Unione, e richiedeva sforzi importanti per il suo mantenimento; allo stesso tempo dalla capitale catalana provenivano richieste di apertura “democratica” del Consiglio dei Cento, che portavano a un’evidente instabilità interna, frutto in parte di una dimostrata crisi monetaria, dovuta anche alla scarsa capacità di governo dell’economia. Nonostante ciò, i mercanti, gli armatori e i banchieri continuarono a cercare di portare avanti i propri interessi economici nel Mediterraneo, anche servendosi delle istituzioni di natura corporativa, come il Consolato del mare. Attraverso l’analisi di alcuni registri di protesti di lettere di cambio gestiti dal notaio del Consolato barcellonese, si cercherà di mettere in luce l’evoluzione delle reti mercantili-finanziarie catalane, in particolare lungo la rotta meridionale italiana. Lo studio non avrà l’obiettivo di analizzare l’uso tecnico dello strumento cambiario, ma quello di portare alla luce strategie e protagonisti del processo di inserimento del capitale mercantile e finanziario in Italia durante il regno di Alfonso il Magnanimo e in special modo durante la guerra contro Firenze. Emergeranno, così, i nomi di quelle persone che furono le protagoniste dei grandi e quotidiani spostamenti di denaro fra i centri politico-commerciali del Commonwealth catalanoaragonese. Si tenterà una prima ricostruzione delle loro attività e dei loro movimenti, nonché delle connessioni con i più importanti operatori del sistema finanziario europeo, ovvero i toscani.

Abstract:
Renaissance marriage is a much-studied subject, yet little attention has been given to the influence of marital practice on the civic affairs of confraternities. By considering the decisions of the Venetian Scuola dei Mercanti confraternity through the lens of Venetian marriage practice, I demonstrate how the Mercanti employed a multi-alignment advancement strategy in a manner similar to that employed by marriage partners seeking upward social mobility. Specifically, I argue that the Mercanti’s maneuvers were carried out for the purpose of transforming itself from a scuola piccolo to a scuola grande. Viewed from this perspective, the Mercanti’s artistic and architectural commissions appear as carefully executed maneuvers designed to elevate its social status. To demonstrate this thesis, I outline the Mercanti’s strategy of aligning with the neighboring Madonna dell’Orto church, the prominent architect Palladio and, especially, the older, established Scuola Grande della Misericordia.

Abstract:
This work finds place in a rich historiographical background, arisen during the last thirty years about the reexamination of the economic-political connection in the history of the Euro-Mediterranean pre-industrial economic development. As the title suggests, this study analyses an institute ignored, however well known, by historians until today (except for philological and juridical studies), the Sea Consulate of Barcelona. I tried to retrace its habitual activity during the XV Century, through the laborious search of any document produced by the court and the trade guild, kept in five different city institutions. Regarding to the judicial purpose, I focused especially on the procedure and, for archival reasons, even more on the jurisdictional disputes. Concerning to the guild’s unexplored aspects, I tried to reconstruct the operating principles of the administrative body (the merchants’ council), the evolution of roles and guild’s objectives. The evaluation of the Consulate role within the city (that is the relationship with any municipal office), of its connection with the king’s court and his officials, pertinent to the war and diplomacy funding, was the key. The ambition, through results, was to put the accent on the profit defence strategies of the commercial and maritime branch during the late Middle Ages, and, also as a result, on the role of the institutions, the treasury and the war within the Crown of Aragon, and therefore, in a general meaning, on the relations between merchant wealth and politics in the XV Century in Barcelona.

Abstract:
La tesi ripercorre le origini di un’antica scuola devozionale, fondata a Venezia nel 1261 presso la chiesa conventuale di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, indagate attraverso le sue prime fonti statutarie. Questa confraternita intitolata a santa Maria della Misericordia e a san Francesco ha una storia singolare rispetto alle molte altre scuole che con la loro presenza caratterizzavano il tessuto cittadino e non è semplice inserirla nelle grandi categorie in cui la maggior parte delle altre rientra. Nasce infatti come scuola di flagellanti, prerequisito che, a partire dal 1476, varrà alle altre confraternite dello stesso tipo il titolo di ‘Scuola Grande’, ma non si evolve in quella direzione. Parrebbe etichettata come una scuola di mestiere, ‘dei mercanti’ appunto, ma non è riservata a questi soltanto, né tantomeno emette capitoli riferiti al settore lavorativo, come avveniva all’interno delle arti. Un’altra peculiarità è data dal fatto che fin dagli inizi fossero accolte a farne parte anche delle donne, dato che andrà messo in rilievo visto l’interesse riscosso nell’ambito degli studi confraternali dal tema della componente femminile all’interno di gruppi disciplinati. Fu una scuola con un alto numero di iscritti, nel 1290 ne contava già trecentoventi, e fu probabilmente ricca, a giudicare dai nomi dei confratelli che ne facevano parte (tra i quali spicca quello di Marco Polo). Ciò nonostante non ha lasciato nell’ambito della produzione artistica le tracce di grandi commissioni come quelle che hanno reso celebri altre scuole veneziane. Questa scuola inoltre ‘incrocia’ in modi diversi le vite di altre scuole. Nel 1570 verrà abbandonata la sede dei Frari e la confraternita confluirà presso una piccola scuola con sede alla Madonna dell’Orto rinominata allora scuola di santa Maria, san Cristoforo e san Francesco dei mercanti. Da un altro canto per molto tempo nella storiografia questa scuola è stata individuata come il primo nucleo di quella che sarebbe divenuta poi la Scuola Grande di santa Maria della Misericordia, detta della Valverde con sede a Cannaregio. Non esistono documenti a sostegno di questa ipotesi. Il fraintendimento è stato protratto a lungo anche a causa della collocazione di alcuni documenti della scuola dei Frari nel fondo della scuola della Misericordia presso l’Archivio di Stato di Venezia. Sono molti dunque i punti di interesse che giustificano la trattazione approfondita di questa scuola, per non parlare del valore intrinseco delle mariegole da essa prodotte, finora inedite, che si sono rivelate essere una fonte molto ricca di informazioni e soprattutto risalente a un’età piuttosto vicina alla data di fondazione. La datazione ‘alta’ delle mariegole in esame ne aumenta il valore se si considera che per le altre scuole dei battuti veneziane si possiedono soltanto statuti di redazione trecentesca.

La tesi è rivolta all’indagine dell’ideale crociato nel contesto veneziano e genovese durante la seconda metà del XIV secolo: il richiamo della crociata è un metro indicativo per approfondire la mentalità e la situazione dei ceti mercantili nel mondo mediterraneo. Ho indagato le reazioni umane e psicologiche alla «crisi del Trecento», analizzando i mutamenti subiti dall’idea di crociata, il cambio di obiettivi, partecipanti e attrattiva: la crociata non sembra più un oggetto in grado di rispondere alle esigenze spirituali del momento. È stata indagata la percezione della crociata e gli atteggiamenti di genovesi e veneziani, tra attrattiva e indifferenza. Ho approfondito la contrazione economico-navale dei due centri, la mutata sensibilità delle cronache, il distacco mentale dall’Oriente, il sentimento del pericolo turco, il cambio nella religiosità e l’inquietudine percepita negli ambienti marittimi. Ho indagato la frontiera del Mediterraneo orientale e la reale partecipazione di genovesi e veneziani alle crociate trecentesche, mostrando la condotta pragmatica dei mercanti. Genovesi e veneziani non sembrano dediti solo al guadagno, senza una spinta ideale: molti privati partecipano alle spedizioni crociate. Tuttavia essi erano coscienti della complessità della realtà e soggetti a nuove difficoltà, dunque la loro risposta era molto più cauta.
The thesis analyzes the impact of the Crusader ideal in the Venetian and Genoese context during the second half of the fourteenth century. The call for the Later Crusades seems an indicative case for delving into the mentality and situation of the merchant classes in the Mediterranean world. I investigated the human and psychological reactions to the “crisis”, analyzing the changes undergone by the idea of Crusade in objectives, participants and attraction: the Crusade no longer seemed to be capable of responding to the spiritual needs. The attitudes of Genoese and Venetians were then investigated, between attraction and indifference. It is analyzed the economic and naval contraction of the two centers, the changed sensitivity, the mental detachment from the East, the feeling of Turkish danger, the changes in religiosity and the anxiety perceived. Finally, I investigated the Eastern Mediterranean frontier and the real participation of Genoese and Venetians in the fourteenth-century Crusades, showing the pragmatic behavior of merchants. Genoese and Venetians did not seem to be only dedicated to profit and devoid of an idealistic drive: many private individuals participated in the Crusade expeditions. However, they were aware of the complexity of reality and were subjects to new difficulties.

Alcuni mercanti e agenti d’arte che facevano parte della comunità fiamminga e tedesca che risiedevano a Venezia ma erano in continuo movimento lungo le rotte commerciali tra il Nord e il Sud d’Europa, furono figure decisive per gli scambi artistici tra l’ultimo quarto del XVI secolo e il primo Ventennio del XVII. Questo studio ha indagato, proponendosi anche metodologicamente in modo nuovo, come la trama del network internazionale di cui questi mercanti, fini collezionisti e agenti d’arte facevano parte, sostanziasse la circolazione di artisti e opere d’arte. Grazie al focus su alcuni casi studio di pittori che giungevano in Italia per compiere il tradizionale percorso di apprendimento, è stato possibile ricondurre dati documentari inediti, e altri già acquisiti dalla storiografia artistica, in un nuovo quadro coerente di relazioni sociali, culturali, più specificatamente artistiche.

Cismon-Brenta e Cordevole-Piave rappresentano gli assi di comunicazione fluviale che per secoli soddisfarono le necessità di legname della Serenissima, convogliando travi e tavole rispettivamente dai boschi del Primiero, del Cadore e dell'Agordino. Col tempo una rete di famiglie di mercanti approntò strategie per controllarne i redditizi traffici, per spartirsene il mercato, per intessere alleanze tra di loro o con i poteri civili e religiosi nelle aree attraversate. Necessariamente con il legname circolarono così anche uomini, che si insediarono nei luoghi strategici lungo il percorso di fluitazione, come pure in quel di Barbaria delle Tole, ultimo e decisivo approdo in Venezia. Interessante sarà a questo punto verificare come questi commerci possano aver contribuito nel portare non solo merci, ma anche idee, sia dalla Serenissima verso la “provincia” che, nel contempo, a veicolare istanze e pensieri dal pur sempre vicino Impero Asburgico, alla cui autorità gran parte dei boschi appartenevano. A tal fine si cercherà di lavorare non solo sui documenti di archivio o sui numerosi testi specifici sull'argomento, ma soprattutto su quei documenti ancora in loco, magari ancora “vivi” in parte delle loro originarie funzioni: edifici e immagini, residenze e dipinti, oratori e pale d'altare. Forse in essi, più che altrove, dovremmo ricercare il colore, il “timbro” di quell'epoca, trovare conferma di quel fluitare di idee dalla laguna ai monti, da Innsbruck e Augusta fino ai confini della Serenissima seguendo gli itinerari dei loro mercanti-committenti. Immagini e opere architettoniche non da guardare semplicemente come documenti “passivi” di un'epoca, ma illuminanti esse stesse quei contesti, alla luce delle loro funzioni e peculiarità comunicative evidenti . Fondamentale sarà quindi adottare un approccio il più possibile multidisciplinare incontrando per forza di cose in questo “viaggio” aspetti economici, contingenze politiche, documenti artistici, istanze religiose, comportamenti sociali e tutte quelle occorrenze storico-contestuali che dovranno essere sempre tenute presenti. Solo così potremo chiarire l'importante ruolo di mediatori della cultura veneziana svolto dai mercanti di legname, ma soprattutto il loro contributo nel portare e diffondere nella terraferma quell'istinto imprenditoriale, quell'orgoglio patrio, quella perseveranza e spirito pratico di cui è (era?) intrisa la cultura, anche economica, veneta.

The essay analyzes a judicial case of the Mercanzia court in the early Quattrocento Florence, which involved the execution of an insurance deed by the merchant and poet Cino Rinuccini concerning the date of the death of Ladislaus king of Naples in 1414. The case, considering the relevance of the actor and the subject of the insurance agreement, allows us to study the discussion on the legal and ethical value of such deeds. The Appendix provides the edition of a legal consilium devoted to the case, in which a distinguished commission of lawyers discusses the problem according to the interpretation of the ius commune.

The worldwide football transfer market is analyzed as a directed complex network: the football clubs are the network nodes and the directed edges are weighted by the total amount of money transferred from a club to another. The Google matrix description allows to treat every club independently of their richness and allows to measure for a given club the efficiency of player sales and player acquisitions. The PageRank algorithm, developed initially for the World Wide Web, naturally characterizes the ability of a club to import players. The CheiRank algorithm, also developed to analyze large scale directed complex networks, characterizes the ability of a club to export players. The analysis in the two-dimensional PageRank-CheiRank plan permits to determine the transfer balance of the clubs in a more subtle manner than the traditional import-export scheme. We investigate the 2017-2018 mercato concerning 2296 clubs, 6698 player transfers, and 147 player nationalities. The transfer balance is determined globally for different types of player trades (defender, midfielder, forward, …) and for different national football leagues. Although, on average, the network transfer flows from and to clubs are balanced, the discrimination by player type draws a specific portrait of each football club.

Este artigo analisa a relação público e privado estabelecida nos cursos de graduação em Educação a Distância (EaD) no Brasil e visa compreender sua expansão vertiginosa. Para o processo investigativo foi feito uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental sobre a temática, com fundamentação teórica em Cruz e Lima (2019); Giolo (2018); Lima (2014), Ruas (2014) e Santos (2008). Os dados revelaram que a relação público-privado estabelecida está associada há uma política neoliberal, cuja visão mercantil transformou a educação superior em mercadoria educacional. A expansão vertiginosa da EaD, se deu por meio da desregulação da modalidade. Desse modo, o artigo alerta que o conceito de EaD fica a desejar, sendo preciso uma regulação e avaliação das políticas.

International maritime shipping is an essential part of global business. Since the establishment of the current international tax regime in the 1920s, there has been a consensus that profits generated by this business are taxable only in the residence state –the state where the shipowners are located. Source states – the port states where business physically takes place – are generally expected to exempt income from international shipping. This standard is currently reflected in Article 8 of the OECD Model and Article 8 (Alternative A) of the UN Model, and is incorporated in the vast majority of bilateral tax treaties currently in force. Exclusive residence state taxation of shipping profits is problematic when the size of mercantile fleets and shipping flows between two states are of unequal size. This is often the case in relations between a developed and developing country. The latter often lack a substantial domestic mercantile fleet, but serve as an important revenue-generating port state for the fleet of the developed country. To come to a more balanced allocation of taxing rights in such a case, a source taxation alternative has been inserted in UN Model Article 8 (Alternative B). From its inception, Article 8B has been labelled impractical due to the lack of guidance on core issues, like sourcing rules and profit allocation. This gap is said to explain the low adoption rate of Article 8B in global tax treaty practice. In reality, tax treaty practice regarding Article 8B is heavily concentrated and flourishing in a handful of countries in South/South-East Asia – Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. All these countries subject non-resident shipping income to tax in their domestic income tax laws. Except for India, all countries are able to exercise these domestic tax law rules in relation to shipping enterprises located in the biggest shipowner states, either because they have a treaty in place that provides for source taxation or because there is no treaty at all and thus no restriction of domestic law. None of the relevant tax treaties contain a provision that incorporates the exact wording of Article 8B of the UN Model. If other countries, like coastal countries in sub-Saharan Africa, are looking to implement source taxation of maritime shipping income in the future, they are advised to draw on the South/South-East Asian experience. Best practice can be distilled regarding sourcing rule, source tax limitation, profit attribution and method of taxation (on gross or net basis). In addition to technical guidance on tax, the South/South-East Asian experience also provides important general policy considerations countries should take into account when determining whether source taxation of maritime shipping profits is an appropriate target for their future tax treaty negotiations.

This Open File Report provides the available macroseismic information for the seven largest moderate earthquakes that occurred in the Charlevoix Seismic Zone between 1870 and 2021. These earthquakes and their moment magnitude (M) are: 1) February 3, 1902, M 4.5; 2) September 30, 1924, M 5.2; 3) January 08, 1931, M 4.9; 4) October 19, 1939, M 5.3; 5) October 14, 1952, M 4.5; 6) August 19, 1979, M 4.8; 7) March 6, 2005, M 4.7. Five, possibly six, of these seven earthquakes occurred in the northeast portion of the CSZ, where the largest event of the period, the 1925 M 6.2 earthquake, also occurred. For each locality where the earthquakes were felt, macroseismic information is given and interpreted on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. The original mail questionnaires filled by postmasters for earthquakes no. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are lost. Consequently, the main sources of information are the newspaper accounts except for no. 7 for which web-based questionnaires are available. The macroseismic information from localities in Canada and in the US (from NOAA) are tabulated in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Most newspaper clippings that have macroseismic information are included. The Open File also provides Google Earth kmz files that allow the felt information reports to be viewed in a spatial tool.

The November 1st, 1935, Témiscaming earthquake occurred within 20 km of the town of Témiscaming, Quebec. This earthquake was felt west to Fort William (now part of Thunder Bay), Ontario, east to Saint John, New Brunswick, and south to Kentucky and Virginia. Damaged chimneys were reported in Témiscaming, Quebec, and North Bay and Mattawa, Ontario. In the epicentral region, rockfalls were observed as well as cracks in gravel and sand along the shores of islands and lakes. Some 350 km away from the epicentre, near Parent, Quebec, earthquake vibrations triggered a 30 metre slide of railroad embankment. Numerous aftershocks were felt in Témiscaming and Kipawa during the following months, the largest rated as magnitude ML 5.4 (or mN 4.9). For the main shock and its largest aftershock, this Open File Report provides the available macroseismic information interpreted on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale using newspaper accounts as the main source of information for Canada. Macroseismic information from total of 126 localities in Canada and nearly 900 communities in the US (from the NOAA database of intensities) are tabulated in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. When available, newspaper clippings are included, together with some original damage accounts, photographs and scientific reports. The Open File also includes a Google Earth kmz file that allows the felt information reports to be viewed in a spatial tool.

Si bien es cierto que cada año en la ciudad de popayán, se registran en promedio 900 empresas ante la cámara de comercio, empresas que decidieron legalizarse o que inician su emprendimiento, también es visible que aproximadamente el 50% de ellas no renuevan su matrícula mercantil después de los 10 años de supervivencia, esto teniendo en cuenta datos suministrados por la cámara de comercio del cauca, esta es la razón principal que da pie a esta investigación; por medio de la cual se pretende encontrar los factores que impiden el crecimiento de las microempresas en la ciudad de popayán tomando como objeto de estudio las constituidas entre el año 2005 y el año 2010 en la ciudad de popayán. Muy seguramente nos encontraremos con microempresas que han cumplido con los requisitos legales para seguir en el mercado pero que no han crecido como empresa sino simplemente han sobrevivido; si a tiempo detectamos las razones por las que no han crecido tal vez podemos evitar sus cierres. Sin lugar a duda las microempresas hacen un gran aporte en el empleo del país, según el informe de confecamaras, en el 2.019 ocuparon el 99.6% del total de empresas registradas (http://www.confecamaras.org.co/); pero algo está fallando, muchas cierran antes de completar el año de nacimiento y otras siguen vivas en el mercado pero igual de pequeñas e incluso más pequeñas que cuando iniciaron; las razones pueden ser muchas y gracias al aporte de los microempresarios podemos realizar un estudio que muy seguramente será de valiosa ayuda para quienes han decido emprender formando una microempresa en la ciudad de popayán. The November 25, 1988, moment magnitude 5.9 (Mw) Saguenay earthquake is one of the largest eastern Canadian earthquakes of the 20th century. It was preceded by a magnitude (MN) 4.7 foreshock and followed by very few aftershocks considering the magnitude of the main shock. The largest aftershock was a magnitude (MN) 4.3 event. This Open File (OF) Report presents a variety of documents (including original and interpreted felt information, images, newspaper clippings, various engineering reports on the damage, mass movements). This OF updates the report of Cajka and Drysdale (1994) with additional material, including descriptions of the foreshock and largest aftershock. Most of the felt report information come from replies of a questionnaire sent to postmasters in more than 2000 localities in Canada and in the United States. Images of the original felt reports from Canada are included. The OF also includes information gathered in damage assessments and newspaper accounts. For each locality, the interpreted information is presented in a digital table. The fields include the name, latitude and longitude of the municipality and the interpreted intensity on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale (most of which are the interpretations of Cajka and Drysdale, 1996). When available or significant, excerpts of the felt reports are added. This OF Report also includes images from contemporary newspapers that describe the impact. In addition, information contained in post-earthquake reports are discussed together with pictures of damage and mass movements. Finally, a GoogleEarth kmz file is added for viewing the felt information reports within a spatial tool.
