Abstract:
ABSTRACT:After a transgression has occurred within an organization, a primary concern is the reintegration of the affected parties (namely offenders and victims) back into the organizational community. However, beyond offenders and victims, reintegration depends on the views of organizational peers and their desire to interact with these parties. In two studies, we demonstrated that offender amends and victim forgiveness interact to predict peer reintegrative outcomes. We found evidence of backlash against unforgiving victims: Peers wanted to work the least with victims who rejected appropriate amends, thus penalizing them for their failure to contribute to the restoration process. This backlash effect was due to decreased liking of the victim and the perceived failure to repair the offender-victim relationship. These findings demonstrate that peers expect both offenders and victims to do their part to achieve reconciliation following transgression, and both may suffer the consequences of failing to meet peer expectations. Implications for reintegration within organizations are discussed.

Abstract:
This article examines the politics of wine making in Alsace in the two decades after the region returned to French rule in 1918. During these years Alsatian wine makers worked to transform their wines to meet the tastes of French drinkers, following five decades of producing wine for German consumption. As wine makers grappled with the question of how to secure the future of their industry, Alsatian wine became emblematic of the most contentious aspects of Alsace's reintegration into France. The introduction of new laws on viticulture raised the question of what was French about wine, the wine industry's woes symbolised the difficulties of Alsace's economic reintegration and wine became an emblem for often fierce wrangling over identity and belonging in the recovered region. This article traces this process and argues that while wine became a symbol of the complications of reintegration, its importance in understandings of French national culture equally allowed it to offer a solution to the problems that return to France caused for Alsace's wine industry in the interwar years. In this way, this case study of the politics of wine making in Alsace is suggestive of wine's broader power as a symbol of national belonging.

Abstract:
Background. Halfway houses (HwH) may support community reintegration of mental health care users and can be effective in meeting occupational needs of residents. However, they are not optimally used in South Africa. Purpose. This study aimed to improve the functioning of a HwH so that it better meets occupational needs of the resident mental health care users. It draws on Doble & Santha ( 2008 ); seven occupational needs. Method. A four-phase Participatory Action Research methodology was used. We conducted thematic analysis to describe met and unmet needs within PAR phases. Findings. Occupational needs of accomplishment, renewal, pleasure and companionship were being met. However, coherence, agency and affirmation needs were not being met. An additional occupational need for interdependence, based on the African ethic of Ubuntu, was identified. Implications. HwH functioning affected residents’ experiences of health and wellbeing. Engagement in collective occupations can contribute to meeting the occupational need of interdependence.

Abstract:
The recruitment and use of child soldiers creates a lasting tear in society, and none so severely as the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is estimated that there are 310,000 children who are associated or formerly associated with armed forces or groups. Many (both girls and boys) experience sexual violence prior, during and/or following their association. As Arpita Mitra described in her paper, the scale of the tragedy is both widespread and brutal. She argues that despite the huge sums of financial assistance poured into the area for Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) programming, the implementation has failed to meet its goals.

Abstract:
The aim of this review is to determine roles of social workers in mental healthcare teams. This study used a systematic type of literature review in meeting its objective. It involved an online search of articles published in the ProQuest Central database. The search strategy involved retrieving articles using the key words ‘Social Worker’ AND ‘Mental health care’ from the ProQuest Thesaurus. A total of 47 articles were retrieved from the ProQuest database. After screening and conducting an eligibility test, a total of 37 articles were excluded from the study for failing to meet the study inclusion criteria. We included articles that; were published in the English language from 2015 to 2020, outlined roles of social workers in mental healthcare teams, and had verifiable scientific procedures. The remaining 10 articles were subjected to content analysis after fulfilling all inclusion criteria set for the study. From the results of content analysis of the 10 articles, Four (4) articles showed that roles of social workers in mental healthcare teams were those of social support facilitators, three (3) articles showed that their roles were those of social rehabilitation specialists, two (2) articles indicated that they played roles of social reintegration specialists, while one (1) article showed that their roles were those case managers. We concluded that in mental healthcare teams, social workers play roles of social support facilitators, social rehabilitation therapists, social reintegration specialists, and case managers.

Abstract:
This item is only available electronically.
Melt loss during regional high-grade metamorphism has important consequences for interpreting the metamorphic evolution of the lower crust and for understanding processes leading to the chemical differentiation of the crust. However, melt loss typically modifies the protolith; making it difficult to reconstruct the conditions of prograde metamorphism and the extent to which melt loss modified the rock composition. The Reynolds Range in central Australia preserves a rare example where a single melt-prone stratigraphic unit can be traced from greenschist to granulite grade conditions. Using this as a natural laboratory, P–T mineral equilibria forward models have been calculated to explore melt loss and melt reintegration where both the protolith and the residuum compositions are preserved. Incremental melt loss modelling from the protolith composition along an isobaric heating path at 5 kbar shows that the residual granulite facies rock composition is consistent with around 18% melt loss from the protolith. Large-scale, one-step melt loss from a closed rock system that had built up 18% melt resulted in a similar residual composition to incremental melt loss. The fertility of the open (incremental) system and the closed system showed the closed system produced 5.4% more melt along a heating path from 700–800 °C. Determination of the concentrations of K–U–Th with increasing metamorphic grade shows that K and U concentrations decreased with increasing metamorphic grade. Conversely, Th concentrations increased, resulting in a slight overall increase in heat production from the protolith to the residuum, despite around 18% volume loss associated with melt extraction. An implication for this is that for melt prone rocks such as metapelites, melt loss during granulite facies metamorphism does not deplete the concentration of heat producing elements in the lower crust as is typically assumed.

Abstract:
The process of rehabilitation, especially for young people who have committed illegal acts is the guiding theme of this dissertation, in which seeks initially to comprehend what it is and how the rehabilitation occurs, observing the legal guidelines for the effectiveness and practical aspects of the process. The goal is to analyze what is the process of rehabilitation and its importance, especially for young offenders initially making a characterization of the institutions where the process takes place, highlighting the possibilities and difficulties in carrying out the project, especially with the development of a process of teaching and learning that encourages the resumption of social life. For a more detailed study it was considered as a case study the Community Socio-Educational Services (CASE) Juiz de Melo Matos de Feira de Santana, Bahia, first performing a contextualization training process in Feira de Santana, showing how it interferes in unequal conditions of society, expanding the possibilities of higher rates of urban violence, then to understand how the process of resocialization occurs on site. Afterwards, we discuss on communities in general, with emphasis on the characteristics and conditions of CASE Juiz de Melo Matos de Feira de Santana, explaining how the process of rehabilitation in the unit occurs. Finally we weave the final analysis based on the reflection developed in the course of the entire study, considering both general aspects about the process of rehabilitation, as its execution from the CASE Juiz de Melo Matos de Feira de Santana.

Abstract:
Research on the role of tourism in post-conflict scenarios has suggested that it contributes to peace and reconciliation by providing common ground for antagonists to meet. However, not enough attention has hitherto been given to cases where one of the opposing parties consist of former combatants. This chapter draws on academic literature on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) to discuss how Colombian demobilised guerrillas are currently using tourism to assist their reintegration process. Based on document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and non-participant observation, it is argued that tourism can contribute to the social reintegration of ex-combatants by making them visible and active agents in the process and supporting alternative settings where reintegration can take place. Ultimately, the chapter posits that tourism can assist non-conventional approaches to reintegration, which might increase the likelihood of ensuring a successful transition from war to peace.

Abstract:
This chapter describes the development of a program designed for Colombians that, after living several years abroad, decided to return. These re-migrants received support of national government and the Center for Entrepreneurship Development at the Universidad Icesi (CDEE-Icesi) to identify new entrepreneurial ideas, even to start operations and generate income to meet their personal needs in the process of reintegration to the country. The entrepreneurial educational model based on competences designed by CDEE-Icesi, was the focus of the whole training process, and the support phases were done by Centro Alaya based on SBDC´s methodology. The high proportion of participants that were able to start their own enterprise and the entrepreneurial success cases in the first months of operation, allows the CDEE-Icesi to show to the Colombian Foreign Ministry (the funding body for this project) the validity of the integrated approach model, for the process of reintegration of Colombians who are returning to the country.

Abstract:
This chapter examines the potential and some of the risks of family group conferences (FGCs) in cases where young people have displayed harmful sexual behaviour (HSB). By definition, HSB causes hurt and can lead to trauma, particularly for the young victim, who may experience negative consequences into adulthood. Young perpetrators may have transgressed social norms or even broken laws, but they have often themselves experienced victimisation and will have welfare needs. Importantly, FGCs are not zero-sum constructions that require victim needs to be met at the expense of the perpetrator. Rather, FGCs are ‘child-sensitive’ processes, because they prioritise the safety and value the needs of all young people involved, while promoting their reintegration into the community.

Abstract:
Today, every prison around the world requires a correctional programme so that rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders can be done successfully. Correctional reforms is a serious issue and has been taken seriously even internationally. In India, many attempts have been made to improve the condition of prisons and prisoners, but little changes have been seen at the root-level. There is a scope of modifications in the correctional reforms to meet the present-day needs of the criminal justice system. The chapter will give an overview of the correctional reforms in Indian prisons and after reviewing the existing literature will attempt to identify the limitations of the correctional programs which need to be addressed for effective rehabilitation and reformation of prisoners. Lastly, the chapter will conclude with a number of suggestions and with a comprehensive model for rehabilitation.

Abstract:
In this chapter we return to the story of Anthony and his brother David, who we originally met in Chapter 4, and Joyce, who first appears in Chapter 5. Previously we considered the role of the mental health nurse in working with people experiencing acute mental health crisis. This chapter seeks to consider how as mental health nurses we might go on to work with these people to support their rehabilitation and reintegration into the community. The chapter opens by outlining some key principles of recovery and proceeds to demonstrate how these ideas might be implemented in working with both Anthony and Joyce. “The way I was feeling my sadness was mine. When I was in hospital staff rarely took time to find out what this was like for me. Not taking the time often fuelled what I was thinking: ‘I’m not worth finding out about.’ Nigel Short (2007: 23)” This service user describes how it feels to live with mental illness continuously throughout their lives, not just while they are in hospital. Professional staff may contribute to this feeling if care planning becomes too focused upon symptoms and treatment rather than person-centred care and recovery. In this context, recovery should not be seen as a new concept; rather it can be traced back at least 200 years to one of the earliest asylums, the Tuke Retreat in Yorkshire. “For it was a critical appraisal of psychiatric practice that inspired the Tuke at York to establish a clinical philosophy and therapeutic practice based on kindness, compassion, respect and hope of recovery. Roberts and Wolfson (2004: 37).” Later, during the 1960s, The Vermont Project (an American psychiatric facility) also published research on successful rehabilitative practice that was based upon ‘faith, hope and love’ (Eldred et al. 1962: 45). However, much of the current focus upon recovery practices is based on longitudinal studies in America, services in Ohio, service users were asked to identify what was important to them. This resulted in the Emerging Best Practices document that is recommended guidance in the UK today (NIMHE 2004).

Abstract:
Consumption of psychoactive substances and other addictive behaviors is a risk factor that can disrupt the good somatic, psychological, social and educational development of adolescents. The fact that many adolescents consume tobacco, alcohol, cannabis or other substances, and a significant number of them end up being diagnosed with substance use disorder and other associated disorders, requires multiple human, financial and material resources and special attention from specialists. involved in reducing the demand and supply of drugs. Addiction treatment is a complex issue, requiring a multidisciplinary approach and long-term co-optation of representatives of educational institutions, adolescents and members of local communities in which various prevention or medical, psychological or social assistance programs are carried out. Cooperation is very important for the efficient use of resources available to each party involved in the process of recovering those affected by addictive behaviors, raising awareness of the risks of continued substance use, reducing stigma, conducting interventions to meet the needs of beneficiaries, families them and the members of the community in which they live, the diversification of support services, the provision of continuous psychosocial support and the reintegration of adolescents into the family, social and educational environment.

Abstract:
A major conservation and research project on The Visit of the Queen of Sheba to King Solomon by Lavinia Fontana was completed at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin in 2021. The painting, a large-scale oil on canvas (256 x 325 cm), was one of a number of pictures restored in the late 1960s by a team of conservators from the Istituto Centrale del Restauro in Rome, who came to Dublin during the establishment of the first conservation studio at the Gallery. The visiting restorers brought novel ideas and materials with them from the Istituto that would shape the Irish approach to conservation for decades to come. The prevailing ethos at the time in Italy was based on a minimal intervention approach with the use of novel, synthetic materials that had not yet been introduced to the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland. The painting, after treatment by the Istituto team, recorded material evidence of a particular moment in the development of conservation in Italy and Ireland. Large areas of historic loss and damage across the surface of the painting had been reintegrated by the Italian restorers with the application of retouchings in the tratteggio style, also known as rigatino, using a Paraloid-based medium. In some cases, portraits and other significant details in the image were fully reconstructed by the retouchings. Underlying instability required the removal of some of these retouchings during the most recent treatment, but others could be retained if desired. With the help of archival images and documentation, a decision-making model was developed to evaluate the quality and historic value of these retouchings and to determine which to preserve, which to modify and which to remove. Reduction of retouchings often necessitates replacement, and the partial preservation of the historic retouchings brought further factors to bear on the decision-making model for the chromatic reintegration of the painting. A return to the tratteggio technique was chosen for the larger instances of loss compensation in the treatment, albeit with a finer hatching so that the newer reintegration remains distinguishable from the historic one. This was complemented with a pointillist technique over textured fillings for smaller and shallower losses. Furthermore, where blistering and heat damage in the paint layers resulted in uneven topography, a third auxiliary technique was used. The desired texture was found when testing Paraloid-based gels on a mock-up and applied to bring continuity the surface texture in these areas of the painting. With this approach we intend to meet the conservation needs of the object, restore the legibility of the image and retain the evidence of the historic intervention of this founding team of Italian restorers at the National Gallery of Ireland.
