FAPEAM - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas
For at least 35 years, Argumento has become one of the best-known works of the Amazonian songbook by the name of Nao Mate a mata, since it received its first record in the Simple Compact LP Adelson (1980) and was played in the main Amazonian radios. Authored by the singer-songwriter, Adelson Santos, the work is recognized by artists and lovers of local music as a true ode to environmental conservation in the Amazon. The song reached social recognition only in 1980, positioning Adelson Santos as the most representative Amazon composer. The sociocultural context in which this artist began to reflect on the environmental problem through his music was marked by a series of important events for the consolidation of the Ecological Movement around the world. In its more than 40 years of creation, this musical piece has demonstrated its pioneering and timeless character, metamorphosing in arrangements from Boi-bumbá to instrumental jazz, re-readings performed by artists from different generations and different musical segments in the State of the Amazon. With the accomplishment of this study, we aim much more than to make just an inventory of the ecological songs of Adelson Santos, to analyze from the perspective of ethnomusicology and anthropology of the musical performance his most important work Argument, or simply to reconstruct configurative traits of his biography for prove its condition as an ecological subject. The radical critique of the environmental crisis contained in the work of Adelson Santos is seen by us as another possibility to reaffirm the position of centrality of Culture in the discussion on Sustainable Development worldwide in the post 2015. In seeking to establish an interface between the production of musical sounds, nature and sustainability, we are also creating a space for the valorization of multiple discourses and knowledge, as well as the many ecological subjects existing outside a naturalistic tradition, since Ecology, in present day, is assumed as a migrant idea, finding itself very close to social movements. In revealing these ecological subjects outside the areas of knowledge of naturalistic tradition, we want to provoke a discussion about the interdisciplinary and aggregating vocation of Environmental Sciences, as well as Music itself, based on the new theoretical orientation proposed by Ecomusicology and also of the already consolidated field of ethnomusicology. We promote a discussion of the ecology of knowledge and new perspectives for the reform of scientific thought and the deconstruction of the old models of technoscience that still prevent the existence of a reciprocity between the various forms of reproduce and know the world we live in.

Abstract: A floristic and phytosociological study was carried out in a galIery forest of the Paraguay river near Corumbá and Ladário - MS, Brazil. Structural aspects of the forest were correlated to the flooding of the river, and the dynamics and some caracteristics of dispersion of the species were evaluated. The floristic survey comprised an area of about 22 km along the river, between 18° 59' 51"S; 57°39' 17" W and 19° 01'12" S; 57° 26'44" W, including trees, shrubs and vines, inside the area of influence of the Lagoa Negra basin. The phytosociological survey was accomplished in an area between coordenates 19° 01 '16" S; 57° 27' 01"W and 19° 01' 12" S; 57° 26' 44"W. 106 contiguous 10x10m quadrats were established. AlI individuaIs with more than 15 cm PBH were surveyed. After two years the sampled individuaIs which had died were verified. The floristic survey totalIed 113 species, 39 families. Legurninosae was the most representative family, with 24 species; Bignoniaceae with 9; Convolvulaceae with 7; Arecaceae with 5; Apocynaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Myrtaceae, Malpighiaceae, Polygonaceae and Rubiaceae with 4 species each. Trees and shrubs occurred in the proportion of 59,73%, while the proportion of the vines was 30,93%. The study area presented a floristic composition characteristic of transition between amazonian forest and the wet environrnents of the "Chaco". In the phytosociological survey 716 individuals of 37 species and 29 families were sampled. The Shannon index (H') found for the species was 2,63 and this value is in accordance with the values found for sites with high flooding levels. The highest values of IV (Importance Value) was found for Inga vera ssp affinis, Triplaris gardneriana, Ocotea suaveolens, Crataeva tapia, Vochysia divergens, Cecropia pachystachya, Eugenia cf polystachya, Tabebuia heptaphylla, Myrcia cf mollis and Albizia polyantha, with a great advantage for Inga vera ssp affinis which showed values much higher than the other species in alI of the evaluated parameters. The study forest presented a canopy between 6 and 10 meters, sometimes reaching 13 m, with discontinuous understorey. Some individuaIs of Tabebuia heptaphylla, were found reaching 14m. It was observed that the species were distributed according to a topographicaI leveI, resulting from the flooding to which they were subjected. The more frequent species were grouped in: high places species (found in places which remained flooded a maximum of 10% of days); intermediate high places species (found flooded between 6 and 30% of days); intermediate low places species (found flooded between 10 and 48% of days) and low places species (found flooded between 30 and 48% of days). The total mortality index between the years 1994 and 1996 was 4,2%. For the individuals with a diameter higher than 15 cm, it was 3,56% and for those with diameters between 5 and 15 em, it was 4,6%. This elevated mortality index was associated to the exeptionally high flooding that happened in 1995. The study forest is a pioneer community that is in sucession apparently controlled by the levels of flooding. Twenty-eight of the 37 species found in the phytosociological study are apparently dispersed by animals, confirming a tendency to this kind of dispersion in regularly flooded evironrnents

Full textThe scope of this thesis is to describe the military establishments at mari, an ancient kingdom located on the euphrate valley. The corpus of texts discovered in the royal palace covers around thirty years (1810?-1762). It includes royal correspondance and administratives documents. Chapter I is mainly concerned by the differents types of soldiers which composed the permanent army. Chapter II deals with the question of military grouping drawn from the services demanded by the king to his vassals and allies. Chapter III is about the organisation of the military establishment. A study of the military titles is presented. Very often the documents reveals that the army consisted of large forces made at disposal by levy. An analysis of this process is also proposed. Chapter IV offers a study of the weaponry. This study is based on a large scale of texts concerned by the manufacturing and distribution of weapons. Chapter V describes the elements of military tactics encountered in the mari texts (incursions, ambushes, maneuvers in the battle field etc. . . ) Chapter VI describes the siege devices and the defenses preparations

Full textMathematics is an indispensable skill. Mathematical reasoning occurs when a person is taught the basic foundations during the elementary school years. With the pressures following implementation of Common Core State Standards and Race to the Top, school districts are tried not only to raise their state test scores, but also to prepare, strengthen, and empower educators to feel confident in their ability to instruct mathematics effectively. The Singapore approach to teaching math was the innovative program that created higher math scores in school districts in the United States. The country of Singapore, after developing this approach became the world’s leader in math scores. As more school districts attempt to use a Singapore math-type approach, the secrets of success for its implementation are important. Math in Focus is the authentic Singapore curriculum. This study attempted to document which aspects that encompassed implementing this new program worked most effectively by utilizing a mixed-method approach. This study documented and analyzed professional development training and collaborative teacher planning. The teachers in this study had five professional development workshops and met weekly for collaboration. Additionally, state testing scores were analyzed for the academic school years 2011–2012, 2012–2013, and 2013–2014.

Full textThis study deab with the relationship between the hispano-americans and the europeans based on the fascination that the culture, the way of life and the literary or philosophical patterns of west exert on the elite of the new continent. This can be partly explained by the desire to be integrated into the wide movement of progress and modernity which characterizes the last years of the nineteenth century. This behaviour induces the american intellectuals to consider their own culture as inferior and to take as an example the european culture, dominant at that time. This will provoque the critic of the cuban jose marti who aims at an intelligent imitation rather than at a blind dependence. For him, the imitation and the inspiration of the foreign patterns have to be limited and useful in order to result in an intelligent, productive assimilation leading to an absolutely hispano-american literature, an authentic creation which will make the independence of latin america felt

CAPES

Full textIntroduction. The excess of body fat is associated with the development of chronic non-communicable diseases. Physical exercise enhance lipolysis. The mobilization of fatty acids (FA) is the first stage for the use of lipids as a source of energy by skeletal muscle. In order to increase the use of FA, substances have been used. Objective. This work compared the effects of caffeine, coffee and maté tea on the performance, metabolic parameters and lipolysis in response to acute physical exercise on a treadmill, in Wistar rats. Methods. The study was developed in stage 1 (exercise until exhaustion, n=15) and stage 2 (exercise lasting for 60 minutes, n=45). The design consisted of groups: control (C), control exercise (CE), caffeine exercise (CFNE), coffee exercise (CAFE) and maté tea exercise (CME). For stage 1, the performance, the differences in the total body mass and glucose (post- versus pre-exercise), and lipolytic activity were compared. For the stage 2, comparisons were made among the differences in the total body mass and glucose (post- versus pre-exercise), lipolytic activity, blood lactate level and muscular glycogen content. The data were presented as average ± standard error. The data were analyzed by means of general linear models and the deltas by the orthogonal contrasts technique. Pearsons linear correlation was used to check the association between the variables of interest. Results. In stage 1, no differences were observed between the groups in terms of performance. The post-exercise total body mass, when compared to the pre-exercise, decreased for the CE (188 per cent ), CFNE (273 per cent ), CAFE (319 per cent ) e CME (204 per cent ) groups, when compared to C. There was no difference for glucose (post- versus pre-exercise) between groups. An increase of 92 per cent in lipolysis was observed in the CAFE group, when compared to C. In stage 2, there was a decrease in the post-exercise total body mass, when compared with pre-exercise, in the CE and CFNE (263 per cent ), CAFE (230 per cent ) and CME (183 per cent ) groups. An increase in post-exercise glucose, in comparison with the pre-exercise, was observed in groups CFNE (343 per cent and 220 per cent , when compared to C and CE, respectively) and CME (179 per cent ), when compared to C. Lipolysis increased for the CFNE and CAFE groups when compared to groups C (150 per cent and 233 per cent , respectively) and CE (51 per cent and 101 per cent , respectively). No significant differences were observed between the groups for the blood lactate and the muscular glycogen levels. It wasn\'t observed correlation between the different variables, for stage 1 and 2. Conclusion. Following exercise until exhaustion, the group which ingested coffee presented an increase in the lipolytic activity. After exercise lasting 60 minutes, the group which ingested caffeine, as well as that which ingested maté tea, presented increased levels of glucose. The animals which ingested caffeine or coffee presented increased levels of lipolysis
