Abstract:
This article uses familial correspondence to examine how bourgeois families conceived of marriage in the early nineteenth-century France. It argues that the companionate model of marriage, which was gaining influence during these years, did not replace the earlier model of the arranged marriage but rather was integrated into it. Marriages continued to be arranged by families but bourgeois couples also sought love and companionship in marriage. Their sense of “happiness” was a very bourgeois kind of happiness, however, based on economic security and domestic peace within the constraints of familial obligations.

Marriage is actually a momentum to share happiness with others, share the legality and romance of happiness as a married couple. But not infrequently couples have to cover up their happiness through unregistered marriages. Several factors that cause someone to do unregistered marriage such as age that is not enough as recommended by the government, economic problems and the most ironic is polygamy. Siri marriage is a form of marriage that is carried out under the hands based on religious teachings, customs and without official recognition from state law, because it is not registered in state-owned institutions. Abstract:
Using longitudinal data from the 1987 to 1988 (Wave I) and 1992 to 1993 (Wave II) National Survey of Family and Households, the authors compared long-term cohabiting, married, and remarried couples in four areas of relationship quality at Wave II (happiness, communication, fairness, and disagreements). Comparisons were made after controlling for presence of a child, relationship duration, educational level, gender, ethnic status, and relationship quality at Wave I. We found that long-term cohabiting couples reported lower relationship happiness and fairness than other types of couples. Couples who cohabited prior to marriage were similar to couples who did not cohabit prior to marriage, whether the couples were in first marriages or remarriages. Differences were small among the types of couples in level of communication or disagreements.

Abstract:
The ability of an individual to make decisions is measured by their maturity, especially when it comes to marriage. However, marriages often occur when someone is below the age of maturity. We can also find cases of child marriages, which result in burdening the child with responsibilities they are not yet capable of handling. This research is a normative legal study that aims to answer how the Religious Court should make policies regarding children, particularly in the context of marriage, considering the potential consequences after the dispensation of marriage is granted The research finds that granting dispensation for child marriages has negative impacts on the sustainability of a happy household based on the belief in the Almighty God. The dispensation of child marriages granted by the court upon the request of the parents, usually due to incidents of pregnancy, adds pressure to the child and fails to create the expected happiness as envisioned by the Marriage Law of 1974 and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). Although the Marriage Law allows such marriages based on the parents' request and does not violate religious beliefs and practices, this research highlights the adverse effects of granting such dispensations.

Abstract:
This research examined marital status differences in attitudes about parental obligation, social support relationships with adult children, and psychological well-being using data from 3,002 midlife parents (age 35-64) of nonresident adult children interviewed by the National Survey of Families and Households 1987-1988. Remarried and single parents generally professed less belief in parental financial obligation to adult children than first marriage parents. Overall, parents in first marriages were the most likely to be giving support. Separated/divorced and widowed mothers were more likely to only receive support; remarried and single fathers were more likely to be uninvolved in support. Single and remarried mothers reported less happiness and more distress than first marriage mothers. Single fathers generally reported poorer psychological well-being than first marriage fathers, but there was a trend for remarried fathers to report somewhat more happiness. Support relationships affected the well-being of midlife mothers more than fathers. In general, giving to adult children (reciprocated or not) was associated with more well-being than only receiving from adult children.

Abstract:
Private marriages are marriages carried out by Muslims who fulfill the pillars and requirements of marriage, but are not registered with the Marriage Registrar as regulated in Law no. 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage. This marriage is actually valid if it meets the marriage requirements according to Islamic law. It's just that formally, juridically, it doesn't meet the requirements of the provisions regulated in Law no. 1 of 1974 and its implementing regulations, namely that it is not registered with the Marriage Registrar's Office. So the impact that arises from this underhanded marriage is that the wife is not entitled to alimony, inheritance, shared assets. Apart from that, the status of the child born is considered an illegitimate child. As a consequence, the child only has a civil relationship with the mother and the mother's family. This research is a type of normative research. The nature of the research is descriptive qualitative, namely describing underhanded marriages based on Maq??id Al-Shar?'ah and Utilitarianism. The research results show that marriage under the hand is not in accordance with Maq??id Al-Shar?'ah because it is contrary to the benefit of human al-?ar?r?yah, namely religion, soul, reason, lineage and property. This marriage is also incompatible with Utilitarianism because it is not in accordance with the principle of happiness.

Marriage is the inner bond between a man and a woman as husband and wife with the aim of forming a happy and eternal family based on the one and only godhead. To ensure happiness in the marital bond, state involvement is necessary. Marriages that are registered with state institutions receive legal protection with various problems arising from marriage such as income and inheritance rights. While marriages that are not registered with state institutions, the consequences do not get legal certainty which results in the unprotection of all rights such as child maintenance if they divorce, inheritance rights and property. The reality is that there are still many marriages that are not registered with state institutions, this will result in legal uncertainty.

Abstract:
Marriage is considered the basis for carrying out better social engineering and is one of society's most important basic principles of life. Quality family building is considered to foster a superior generation for a nation. However, happiness in marriage is not always easy to achieve, sometimes, the partner's expectations do not match the reality of domestic life. The inability of a prospective bride and groom to prepare provisions to build family resilience can cause various problems. Early marriage, which occurs among teenagers under the age of 20, is still a phenomenon in Indonesia. Factors such as economics, parental influence, and local community customs contribute to the practice of early marriage. Couples who marry at a young age often face problems due to a lack of maturity in managing communication, conflict and emotions. Pre-marital guidance is considered an effort to overcome a couple's inability to build family resilience. Marriage counseling is a necessary solution for families experiencing disharmony, intending to minimize problems and achieve happiness in married life. Marriage counselors, as trained professionals, aim to help couples resolve their marital problems. Marriage counseling aims to help couples understand and accept their differences, create good relationship patterns, and resolve conflicts. This literature study concludes that early marriage can cause various problems, and marriage counseling has an important role in overcoming these conflicts. Counseling helps couples understand, accept, and resolve their differences, minimize problems, and achieve happiness in marriage.

Abstract:
This article examines three dimensions of mothers' well-being (personal happiness, self-esteem, and depression) across four diverse family structures (first-married, remarried, divorced, and continuously single-parent families). Using a nationally representative sample of 2,781 mothers, the results indicate small but statistically significant differences across family structures. Mothers in their first marriage enjoy the highest well-being, mothers in stepfamilies fare nearly as well, and divorced and continuously single mothers have the lowest well-being. Most of the differences persist when relevant variables are controlled. Multiple regression analyses indicate that the strongest predictors of mothers' well-being are measures of family relations, especially children's well-being, marital happiness, marital stability, and low levels of marital conflict. Implications of the findings are discussed in terms of the relative importance for mothers' well-being of family structure, sociodemographic variables, and family processes.

For longevity of a marriage, happiness plays a vital role in contemporary India. Marital happiness, a dimension of marital quality is determined by various marital factors such as self-esteem, communication, intimacy and marital satisfaction of couples. Communication plays a major role in marriage, and they are the key predictors of marital satisfaction in couple (Lavner, Karney and Bradbury, 2016). In marital life, communication is not simply the flow of information from the sender to the receiver but the ability of couples to share their thoughts and feelings to their spouses. This study aimed to have a focal point on the relationship between communication patterns and marital happiness of army couples. As army couples being a breed of its own this study was conducted among 128 army couples (128 husbands and 128 wives) in the age group of 21 to 30 years of age and within their five years of marriage life. Abstract:
Islam regulates family matters not in outline, but in detail. This shows a great concern for the welfare of the family. The family is formed through marriage, therefore marriage is highly recommended by Islam for those who already have the ability. The purpose of marriage according to Islam is to fulfill religious instructions in order to establish a harmonious, prosperous and happy family. Harmonious in using the rights and obligations of family members; Prosperous means the creation of inner and outer peace due to the fulfillment of the necessities of life both physically and mentally, so that happiness arises, namely love between family members. If you look at the purpose of marriage above, then sirri marriages that occur in society will be difficult to establish a harmonious, prosperous and happy family. Because sirri marriage contains more harm than benefit. One of the disadvantages is that the wife and children will not get inheritance from the husband. Thus, this sirri marriage is very detrimental to the woman. Therefore, carry out the marriage in accordance with the rules in Islamic law and the Marriage Law.

Abstract:
Marital pressure is one of many cultural problems still existing in Indonesia. Research has shown that Indonesians tend to push individuals to get married as an act of conforming to the cultural dominion. This happens because being unmarried is seen as problematic or uncommon. Worst of all, most Indonesians tend to use the existence of marriage as a standard for value and happiness. This negative belief against unmarried individuals is known as singlism. It includes the act of discriminating, stigmatising, and stereotyping singles. Acknowledging this problem, the writer used the theory of Singlism and the Transactional Theory of Stress and Coping to help create a creative thesis in the form of a satirical novel. This creative thesis aims to show that happiness and value cannot be based on marriage. In the end, this creative thesis managed to show that marriage does not always guarantee happiness and life fulfilment.

Abstract:
This article uses empirical findings derived from in-depth interviews with remarried individuals in Singapore to present a sociological analysis on transnational remarriage. Contributing to existing scholarship on remarriage, the article discusses specifically transnational remarriages where transnational divorcees enter another transnational marriage. Adopting a transnational, intersectional feminist perspective, the article analyzes anecdotal accounts of remarried individuals to illustrate how unequal effects of globalization and the intersection of nationality, class, and gender shape the conditions under which transnational divorcees remarry and pursue happiness. The empirical discoveries reveal how the remarried participants veer off the normative pathway of heteronormative modern marriage where one would fall in love, marry, and enjoy the companionship of a soul mate. Transnational remarriage is instead employed as a pragmatic strategy for attaining various happiness goals, namely, restored masculinity, social recognition, mobilities, and family reunification, thereby challenging dominant meanings of modern marriage. Having said that, the participants’ anecdotes show that their happiness goals continue to be lodged within the framework of heteronormative marriage though their pathways may differ from the normative ones. Their accounts of their motivations to remarry and meanings of marriage reveal the profound effects of heteronormativity in their decisions and trajectories. The article thereby offers a critique of heteronormativity through a feminist gaze on remarriage.

Abstract:
This research focuses on interfaith marriages in Malang City, lived by several families with loyalty. In general, interfaith marriages are often considered a way to indoctrinate people into joining a particular religion. Interfaith marriage amid multiculturalism is an effort to respect each other's differences, not differences. The city of Malang, one of the fertile land areas for the growth of major and world religions since the colonial era, is an example of cultivating tolerance and religious differences. This study aims to show that interfaith marriages foster an attitude of tolerance within the small community (family) to avoid various kinds of social friction in society. The view of interfaith marriage is the basis for appreciating religious values in differences and not differences. Interfaith marriage promotes individual rights and freedoms within the state and upholds the values and spirit of family harmony. This study uses qualitative field research. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as being analyzed and conclusions drawn. This study found that families who live in interfaith marriages make families respect religious differences seen as guidelines that lead to good, righteous, and holy lives. Interfaith marriages appreciate differences, not differences, so that the seeds of freedom of rights for children emerge in guiding their life journey, especially relations with God in religious values. Happiness can be experienced with fidelity even though the marriage is of different religions.

Religious people tend to be happy more than those without beliefs. Thus, it can be implied that there is a correlation between the categories: religious beliefs and happiness. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The conducted analysis of the research subject, eliciting aspects of positive psychology such as happiness, the sense of meaning in life, indicated an important factor shaping positive attitudes towards the life trajectory, which are religious beliefs. This issue should be dealt with in the future in the context of shaping a mature human personality, which is undoubtedly influenced by religious beliefs and their quality considered in the category of the quality of spiritual life, and the quality of life, in general.

Abstract:
Aside from being one of the best books ever written on film, Stanley Cavell’s 1979 masterpiece Pursuits of Happiness: The Hollywood Comedy of Remarriage is surely also one of the best investigations we have into the institution of marriage. Here as elsewhere, Cavell has multiple targets in his sights. Along with mapping out a new subgenre within the screwball comedy and moving the then-newly christened discipline of film studies forward, his aims are also philosophical (searching for the ways in which these films “disquiet the foundations of our lives”), sociological (searching for cultural connections between the two waves of feminism), and matrimonial. Cavell is trying to discover what makes marriages work, and under what conditions a married pair might be able to find the “thirst for remarriage” that he takes as its essential element. Moving well beyond accounting for filmic portrayals of the married state, Pursuits is a virtuosic exploration of marriage itself, with countless insights to offer.

The study of maqāṣid al-syarῑ'ah is a philosophical aspect of sharia that has been formulated in such a way by uṣūliyūn. Imam al-Syāṭibῑ formulated this maqāṣid category into maqāṣid aṣliyah and maqāṣid al-tābi'ah. From this division, the maqāṣidiyah method may be used to look deeper into the issue of Islamic law in its philosophical aspects. Among the problems that concern the author is the position of the dowry in marriage, considering that the dowry is not included as a pillar and condition of marriage by fuqaha. This study is to answer two questions, firstly how is the position of dowry in marriage, the second, What is maqasid al-Sharia from dowry? To answer this question, the author uses a maqāṣidiyah approach. The results of the study concluded; the first dowry is a mandatory gift in marriage. Both dowries became wasa'il Maqasid al-Tabi'ah, where the purpose of supporting (maqasid al-Tabi'ah) of marriage is to realize happiness and tranquility (li taskunu). From this dowry becomes wasail in order to realize happiness and tranquility in marriage.

Abstract:
The problems related to Isbat of marriages (isbat nikah) are still arising because marriage without registration is still being done. The weak of regulation and suboptimal efforts to regulate marriages that were not registered after 1974 added to the Isbat of a marriage behavior problem. The focus of this research is Isbat of marriage in a review maslahah. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. The results showed that Isbat of marriage is examined in terms of maslahah will place it in terms of maslahah hajjiyyah. This is supported in terms of the level of benefit. A marriage will not be able to find perfect happiness if the fulfillment of the Hajjiyah in the marriage is not fulfilled. Moreover, the Isbat of marriage is a way to fulfill administrative requirements in re-registering marriages that have been made. In addition to the position of the issue, there must also be more concrete regulations that regulate certain matters related to marriage issues so that administrative order in marriage is created.

Abstract:
In the early 1970s, when the Franco dictatorship (1939–75) was coming to an end, some Catholic intellectuals began to defend people's right to end their failed marriages and seek happiness with a new partner. In so doing, they recognised that love was the primary purpose of marriage; if it was absent the union ceased to be valid. These intellectuals thus broke with a discourse that had until then been deep-seated in both Catholic theology and Francoist morals and laws. According to these, love was only a secondary end of marriage and the conjugal union was indissoluble, leaving people no choice but to tolerate it if it was an unhappy one.

Not all marriages achieve long-term success, often ending in divorce. However, many couples manage to sustain their marriages and achieve happiness. This literature review aims to identify the factors that contribute to the longevity of a marriage. The study employs a systematic literature review method, utilizing three electronic databases: Wiley Online Library, Semantic Scholar, and Scopus. The scientific literature reviewed includes articles published in the last five years (2019-2023) that meet predefined inclusion criteria. Ten selected articles were analyzed to identify key factors influencing marital longevity. The review identified five internal factors that contribute to a lasting marriage: 1) commitment, 2) communication, 3) spirituality, 4) conflict resolution strategies, and 5) other minor factors such as altruism, role sharing, and perseverance. Additionally, two external factors were found to be significant: 1) family support, and 2) the experience of other couples. These findings provide insights into the elements that support enduring marriages and may inform future research and interventions aimed at promoting marital stability.

Even though the age limit has been set, there are still deviations by carrying out underage marriages. This is clearly contrary to the principles and conditions of marriage outlined by Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage. Against this deviation, Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage provides a way out in the form of a dispensation from the court. In this study, the method used is normative empirical. This empirical normative legal research method is basically a combination of normative legal approaches with the addition of various empirical elements. Research results Amended in Law Number 16 of 2019 on Amendments to Law Number 1 of 1974 in Article 7 Paragraph (1) reads: "Marriage is only permitted if a man and woman have reached the age of 19 (nineteen) years." The age limit for women's marriage is based on the readiness for women to marry in terms of education, psychology, and health readiness. These changes have been thought out in a systematic and structured manner followed by philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations. This analysis merges marital history data for respondents in the National Survey of Families and Households with census data describing the sex composition of their local marriage markets to examine the impact of the availability of spousal alternatives on subjective measures of marital relations. The authors find significant bivariate associations between the sex composition of the local marriage market and husbands' and wives' marital happiness, perceived likelihood of divorce, and anticipated change in happiness if divorced. However, the effects of the sex composition of the local marriage market on these measures of marital quality are not significant after adjusting for racial differences. Racial differences in these subjective measures of marital quality cannot be explained by racial differences in mate availability, socioeconomic status, and other dimensions of sociodemographic background.

Abstract:
Happiness is something that is a goal, a hope that every human being wants to achieve. And when his goals and expectations are achieved, he will feel satisfied, happy and happy. Marriage certainly aims to achieve happiness, because it is impossible for a couple who aims to get married to be unhappy. Then every human being will compete to achieve a happiness, one of which is to get married. Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani explained that nusyuz that occurs in the household, the husband should first explain what his wife has done (nusyuz). Explain to the wife about the rights of the wife to the husband and the rights to the wife. The way to deal with it is not arbitrary. Although the study of nusyuz fiqh focuses on the wife's position, it does not rule out the possibility that the husband also performs nusyuz. Marriage will lead to happiness when the couple is able to adapt to a series of household problems that they go through. Nusyuz often occurs due to a lack of communication between husband and wife, so quality communication and a strong marital commitment are needed to be able to enjoy marital happiness.

Abstract:
One of the rights guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia is the right to marry and have children. Marriage is the beginning of the process of embodiment of the formation of a family in human life. Therefore, marriage is not merely the fulfillment of biological needs, but more than that. Marriage is a part of Human Rights stipulated in Article 10 of the Human Rights Law that everyone shall have the right to start a family and to continue the offspring through legitimate marriage and it may only take place at the free will of the prospective husband and future wife. Marriage is the inner bond between a man and a woman as a husband and wife with the aim of forming a happy and eternal family (household) based on the One Supreme God (Article 1 of the Marriage Law). Based on the article, it can be seen that the purpose of marriage is to establish a happiness and an eternal household based on the One God. Marriage is permissible for those who have met the age limit for marriage as set forth in Article 7(1) of the Marriage Law, for man nineteeen years old and for woman sixteen years old, but in fact under age marriages still happen. According to human rights perspective, under age marriage is the action of grabbing children freedom, namely the right to grow and develop optimally. Prevention of under age marriage, should be done so the children still get their basic rights.
