Abstract:
This article presents invitational counseling as an approach to use in marriage and family therapy. The language and basic tenets of invitational counseling are reviewed, and its compatibility with marriage and family therapy is illustrated with examples and case studies. The Five P’s, (people, places, policies, programs, and processes) are suggested as a model for assessing marriages and relationships in the beginning of the counseling process. The article also proposes that invitational counseling be used as both a problem-solving and educational approach in working with couples and families.

Abstract:
Marriages in Ghana are usually preceded by counseling. It is believed that premarital counseling helps to sustain marriages because it gives couples the initial skills needed to enable them to start their marriage and solve minor problems that may be encountered in the relationship. This study was aimed at assessing the significance of premarital counseling to the sustenance of marriage. The study adopted a mixed methodological approach in gathering the data. Data was gathered from 112 individuals from three different suburbs of the capital city of Ghana. The results showed that although pre-marital counseling was observed to be important for would-be couples, it does not help sustain all marriages. Married couples that were given pre-marital counseling were getting separated as well as those who never had pre-marital counseling. It is therefore recommended that although premarital counseling may be necessary, it is not sufficient to sustain marriages. Therefore, counseling should continue even after marriage.

Abstract:
This community empowerment and development program aims to increase public awareness, especially marriage couples in Batangkuis District in legalizing their marriages. Basically, the couples have known the necessity of registering marriages, but do not register for various reasons. They do not have a marriage book even though they have been married for a long time.To achieve this goal, two (2) phases of activities were carried out, (1) Legal counseling carried out for two days in two partner villages with the theme of the introduction, usefulness and benefits of marriage registration and legal consequences arising from not registering marriages and to (2) assistance activities in making marriage books. The targets are couples in the two partner villages who have long been married religiously but have not registered marriage. After legal counseling about the benefits and importance of marriage registration, there was an enthusiasm to ask for assistance in recording their marriages because most of the couples had been married for a long time and had many children but had no evidence of legality of their marriage. The enthusiasm of the husband and wife shows the approach through legal counseling is effective to move their legal awareness to register their marriages.

Abstract:
God created humans in pairs of their own kind to continue their offspring through legal marriage. In practice, marriages are not carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and are recognized by the state. There are still many people who carry out unregistered marriages which have both legal, social and psychological consequences. The purpose of this paper is to determine the understanding and knowledge of the legitimacy and legal consequences of unregistered marriages in the Uswatum Khasanah study group about unregistered marriages. The results showed that before the counseling was carried out they had the same perception about unregistered marriage and registered marriage because the point was to avoid adultery, after counseling they knew and understood the weaknesses of unregistered marriage, especially regarding the position of women and their offspring. This means that people do not understand the status of unregistered marriages, so intensive counseling is needed regarding unregistered marriages to community groups, especially those who are vulnerable to conducting unregistered marriages

Abstract:
The author grew up and was nurtured in Motoring Village, with its Christian population encompassing Protestant and Catholic believers. The community was tightly knit, upheld by robust kinship bonds, and upheld values of mutual support, "gotong-royong," and respect. The community encountered personal, familial, and societal challenges despite their mature and deep-rooted faith. The contentious issue of contract marriages arose, causing strife among the villagers. The Motoling villagers firmly believed contract marriages to be religiously and legally unlawful. However, instances persisted where contract marriages were established, typically lasting two years, especially involving men from the Philippines already married and women from Motoling. Despite the upheaval caused, these marriages proceeded. Recognizing the necessity, the church offered pastoral counseling, mainly targeting the couples involved, to prevent such occurrences in the future. Employing a literature review and conducting interviews with the contract marriage couple in Motoling Satu, the study highlighted the significance of pastoral guidance for contract marriage couples. The counseling aimed to imbue these couples with a comprehensive understanding of marriage's true essence and bolster their faith, enabling them to navigate challenges successfully. Interviews revealed that love united the contract marriage couple, although economic circumstances also played a role.

Interfaith marriage is a marriage bond between a man and a woman who have different beliefs and religions. In principle, interfaith marriages are prohibited by every religious teaching. Every religious instruction requires a marriage bond to be carried out in a bond of the same faith (one religion). Based on Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, it is explained that a marriage is considered valid if it is carried out according to their respective religions and beliefs. Legal problems arise due to interfaith marriages, including the validity of marriages that give rise to rights and obligations between husband and wife and children's status due to interfaith marriages on their inheritance rights. Interfaith marriages occur in society but are usually covered up. In the case of interfaith marriages in Ogan Ilir Regency, our Community Service Team, Faculty of Law, Sjakhyakirti University conducted legal counseling to understand the legal consequences of interfaith marriages, especially regarding the validity of marriages, child status, and inheritance.

Abstract:
The challenges of premarital counseling arise due to early marriage, divorce, marriage due to prior pregnancy, or various partner problems. As educators for students and prospective couples, counselors can conduct premarital counseling based on needs. The premarital counseling model has yet to be formed for the profession's development, so this study aims to analyze the needs of premarital counseling. The research method type is quantitative descriptive, with 21 students as subjects and a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was an open questionnaire analyzed using quantitative description through percentages. The results of the study found five basic and salient needs for premarital counseling regarding the conditions for pillars of marriage to be valid, knowledge to form a happy family, setting goals for marriage, selecting criteria for a good husband/wife candidate in religion, and understanding the wisdom behind the prohibition to marry individuals who different faiths. Premarital counselors, as educators who are Islamic, competent, professional, and have integrity, use the Al-Qur'an and Sunnah in answering life's problems with a positive counseling mindset so that they know the relationship with God, application in life, awareness, and meaningful self-quality. The five needs of premarital counseling with an Islamic approach are the basis for developing a premarital counseling model with an Islamic system to be implemented in group and individual counseling. The design of Islamic premarital counseling can be designed for the prevention of early marriages and unwanted cases.

Abstract:
This research aims to investigate the impact of marriage policies and the attitudes of prospective brides and grooms towards marriage counseling on the performance of pre-marital counselors in achieving marital adjustments within Garut Regency. Employing an exploratory analysis method, the study focused on the leaders of the Marriage Advice, Development, and Preservation Agency in Garut Regency, including the Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons, totaling 86 individuals, utilizing a census sampling technique. Data collection encompassed questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentary research. Statistical path analysis was the chosen technique to address the research hypotheses. The primary hypothesis testing revealed that the implementation of marriage policies and the attitudes of prospective brides and grooms influenced pre-marital counselor performance in achieving adjustments by 12.79%, with the remaining 87.21% attributed to other factors. Further sub-hypothesis testing demonstrated that marriage policies and prospective brides' and grooms' attitudes toward marriage counseling accounted for 25.43%, while other factors constituted 74.57%. Intriguingly, the implementation of marriage policies and attitudes toward marriage counseling did not significantly impact marital adjustments (path coefficient of 0.0364). Pre-marital counselor performance also had limited effects on marital adjustments (path coefficient of 0.1526). Moreover, there was a positive correlation between the implementation of marriage policies and the attitudes of prospective brides and grooms toward marriage counseling (partial correlation coefficient of 0.6783). The research identified key issues, such as suboptimal policy implementation, lack of awareness and motivation among prospective brides and grooms, ineffective interagency collaboration, and a shortage of skilled staff among pre-marital counselors. In light of these findings, it is recommended to improve policy implementation, enhance interagency cooperation, and increase awareness among prospective brides and grooms regarding the significance of pre-marital counseling for successful marriages. These measures are essential for addressing the prevalent marital issues and lack of warmth and affection in young couples' family lives in Garut Regency.

Abstract:
Traditional premarital counseling seems threatened and not benefiting the couple as it should be. This has negatively impacted on the establishment of marriage. The purpose of the study was to explore married women lived experiences on the value of traditional premarital counseling, go laya, on marital stability. Traditional premarital counseling has always existed to help prepare couples for the future challenges and expectations in marriage. The study adopted a qualitative phenomenological research design. A purposive sample of 10 married women with varied durations in marriage provided the data through interviews. These interviews were tape-recorded and transcribed. The transcripts assumed a phenomenological approach where bracketing and eidetic reduction were employed. The findings indicate that the traditional premarital counseling is very valuable and has a potential of keeping marriages firm. In addition, although the traditional premarital counseling is an appropriate antidivorce strategy, the main problem is that it has lately lost its meaning. Unlike in the past, it is no longer given the honor and not conducted in depth. Despite the major role go laya has in marriage, its implementation must be reviewed and documented to give direction on how it should be done.

Abstract:
The rising divorce rates and declining marriage rates have increasingly highlighted the necessity of pre-marriage counseling. The aim of the present study was to conduct a qualitative examination of the pre-marriage counseling process from the perspective of individuals who received such counseling in the city of Isfahan. This qualitative research was carried out using thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). The study population consisted of individuals who had received pre-marriage counseling at counseling centers in Isfahan. The participants were purposively selected from those who had received pre-marriage counseling and had subsequently married based on that counseling. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews containing questions related to the pre-marriage counseling experience. Qualitative data from the interviews were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's (2006) six-phase method. The results revealed that pre-marriage counseling comprises four main categories: assessment, education, advice, and conclusion, each containing subcategories, and these categories occur in a systematic process during counseling. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that although counselors may use different materials, tools, and methods in the pre-marriage counseling process, a specific pattern dominates the counseling process.

Abstract:
Marriages that occur between husband and wife who do not live together or live in two different areas are called long distance marriages. Long-distance marriage relationships require trust and confidence in the partner so as not to cause conflict in the marriage. The initial phenomenon in the field is that there are wives who have low subjective well-being when undergoing long distance marriages. The aim of this research is to describe the subjective well-being of wives who undergo long-distance marriages on the cognitive and affective aspects. Abstract:
Whether marriage counseling is perceived by the general public to be scientific or not has a number of implications for utilization of services, treatment outcomes, and public policy decisions. The current study used a nationally representative sample ( N = 1,026) from the 2012 General Social Survey to examine two research questions. First, how scientific is marriage counseling viewed by the general public? Second, what demographic variables predict how scientific marriage counseling is perceived by the general public? The analyses indicate that marriage counseling is generally not viewed as scientific, with only 7% rating it as “very scientific” and 40% rating it as “not scientific at all.” These ratings are similar to those given for salesmanship and financial counseling. This opinion was consistent across all demographic groups measured with the notable exception of those individuals who attend religious services more frequently, who were more likely to rate marriage counseling as scientific. There was also a finding indicating the possibility of those who are currently married but previously divorced rate marriage counseling as more scientific than those who are currently married and never divorced. The implications for the field of marriage counseling in regard to health promotion, public policy, and client utilization are discussed. Future directions, including more in-depth inquiry about these opinions, are also presented.

Abstract:
The last 25 years have seen widespread growth in the availability of marriage enrichment programs throughout the United States. The working assumption of these programs is that participants have satisfying, well-function marriages and seek only to strengthen their present relationships and prevent possible disruption. Some research would suggest, however, that his assumption may not be entirely correct. Although participants may not be as dissatisfied with their marriages as couples who seek counseling, neither do they appear as satisfied with their marriages as non-participants (Powell & Wampler, 1982). The present research attempted to discover whether there were distinctive personality characteristics of marriage enrichment program participants which might be reflective of corresponding strengths or weaknesses in their relationships. Findings from the Adult Personality Inventory (API) indicated that participants in one program tend to appear more like couples who have problem marriages than those who have well-functioning marriages. Additionally, the API appears to be a sensitive indicator of relevant areas of interpersonal conflict and can be expected to become an increasingly important tool in relationship counseling.

Abstract:
Currently, divorce rate in most big cities of Indonesia display an alarming trajectory that warrants close examination of the factors leading to it. With Islamic religious courts presiding over most of the divorce cases, which account for the largest portion of all legal cases in the country, this study examines the causal factors of divorce particularly in Bajarmasin city in South Kalimantan province. The study uses a qualitative research method. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation study techniques. Findings indicate that there is little and sometimes no public awareness and understanding of the legal procedure of settling marriage deputes as many skip other available services like the Marriage and Divorce Advisory Board and directly seek divorce rulings from religious courts. It has also been established that domestic violence, secret marriages (Siri), early marriages and infidelity among other factors, are the main causes of the divorce. It has been established most of the couples seeking divorce ignore or are either ignorant about the roles and existence of the Marriage and Divorce Advisory Board which is formality tasked with the role counseling marriages couples with varying disputes and grievances. It is concluded that public awareness of proper channels and procedures of settling marriage disputes, women empowerment, increasing and promoting girl child education, strengthening family incomes, legal counseling on marriage law and a brief orientation on the dangers / impacts of secretary and early marriages could in the long-run curb the rampant divorce rates in the country and of course in Banjarmasin.

Mendana Raya Village is one of 16 villages in Keruak District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The obstacle that is often faced by Mendana Raya Village is the lack of knowledge about the age limit that is allowed to marry or the Marriage Age Maturity (PUP). So far, efforts have been made to make the Mendana Raya Village community aware of reducing the number of early marriages through lectures. An alternative method that researchers use to reduce the number of early marriages in Mendana Raya Village is to conduct counseling with the addition of several methods so that adults and children can understand them well. Some of the methods that the service uses are lectures, question and answer questions with prizes and discussions. The product of this counseling cannot be seen directly because it is knowledge, behavior and decisions between individuals. To find out the level of success of the counseling that was carried out, the servant conducted a short interview regarding Marriage Age Maturity to children and parents. The result after counseling is an increase in understanding and knowledge of each resident of Mendana Raya Village.

The Covid-19 pandemic not only has an impact on health and economic problems but also has an impact on increasing early marriage. Early marriage is a marriage that is not allowed because it violates the age limit for marriage, the provisions of which must be married at the age of more than 19 years but carried out when the age is under 19 years. The issue of early marriage has become a separate problem for Indonesia. There are many facts behind underage marriage. Early marriage can cause teenagers to drop out of school, reproductive health problems, low birth weight babies, psychological disorders and increase divorce rates. Community service activities are carried out to increase students' knowledge about the impact of early marriage. Community service activities are carried out using the lecture method (counseling). Before and after the counseling students were given pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results of community service activities, namely before counseling students with good knowledge categories were 30% and after counseling increased to 78%, this indicates an increase in student knowledge after counseling about the impact of early marriage in SMP Negeri 2 Cina

Abstract:
Abstract In premarital counseling, there are practices to prepare prospective married couples for marriage. And usually this counseling practice is in the form of classes organized by the church according to the beliefs of the prospective bride and groom. The practice of premarital counseling is coaching with the intention of developing emotional maturity or other preparation, including personal ones. This research seeks to ascertain the importance of premarital counseling before entering into a holy marriage which will involve the church and be witnessed by many congregations. Through this research it will also be found that pre-marital counseling can foster a couple's relationship according to the Scriptures, and prepare them for the realm of marriage, then help grow emotionally mature, helping each couple to understand their role in marriage. Through a literature study with a biblical approach, this research draws a conclusion that marriage will go well and be solid for both bride and groom because it begins with pre-marital counseling where the church requires its congregation to go through that phase. This research seeks to find the best effort in dealing with marriage problems caused by a lack of counseling or guidance from related institutions, which is why divorces continue to increase. In this premarital counseling service, it can be given to prospective married couples with the aim that they really understand and understand the meaning of marriage that is desired by God in the Christian Family. So that their decision really becomes a married couple who are willing before God.
