Abstract:
In Indonesia, the polemic on interfaith marriages has not yet ended, even though over time and the times. Even though the issue of interreligious Marriage has been handled and regulated in the Marriage Law, there are still many people who practice it. In Indonesia, interfaith marriages cause not only legal problems but also administrative ones. There are still exceptions to the Marriage Act that allow couples to marry across religions. Because according to positive Indonesian Law, Marriage is not equated with a simple genetic relationship. However, the administration must prove a legal relationship with the state, including the registration of marriages. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a literature approach. The results of the study state that there are still gaps and opportunities for maladministration in interfaith marriages. The behavior occurs in the form of apostasy or changing religions before Marriage, then changing beliefs after Marriage. This was done to get the legality of Marriage in the form of a marriage book. These maladministration opportunities must be closed and eliminated by making government regulations or giving strict sanctions to the perpetrators of maladministration. The sanctions are criminal or fines for people who carry out legal smuggling like this.

Abstract:
AbstractIn reality, in the life of the community that marriage is not a complicated issue where the couple embrace same religion. But this will be a problem if the two couples embrace different religions. This will be a problem because with religious differences, the marriage will be hindered. This study uses the normative juridical method, namely research conducted by reviewing the laws and regulations along with other regulations relevant to the problem under study. The laws and regulations that will be studied in this study are the laws and regulations that are related to marital problems of different religions. The legal consequence of interfaith marriages is that marital status of the different religions is not legal according to each religion so that it is also invalid according to Law number 1 of 1974 concerning marriage. With an illegitimate marital status, it will also have legal consequences on the status and position of the child. Children born from marriages of different religions are illegitimate or out-of-wed children. Because their parents' marriages are not legal marriages, the result is that the child has no civil relationship with his father, and the child only has a civil relationship with his mother. Keywords: Interfaith Marriage; Legal Consequence; Marriage Law.

Abstract:
The UK Conservative–Liberal Democratic Coalition government has declared that marriage is imperative for society. This article examines couple relationship education (CRE), which aims to strengthen marriage and relationships. It argues that these programmes have potential because they offer opportunities for women and men to enhance their relationships through adult education that develops relationship skills and knowledge. For CRE to have a population level impact, however, knowledge of how to promote access to services designed for disadvantaged or vulnerable couples is critical. Gender disadvantage interacts with class, ethnicity, age and disability. Advocating marriage per se is too simplistic a solution to the complex problems of couples with diverse needs or low-income earners. If the government is serious about wanting to strengthen relationships and marriage, CRE would be a better investment if it was coordinated with policies and services such as balancing work and family and alleviating problems for low-income families.

Abstract:
Couple research, and specifically religion and couple research, is commonly conducted in individualistic cultures. The collectivistic milieu of China makes a useful contrast to Western culture. With Chinese churches, we conducted two studies on marriage relationships. In Study 1 ( N = 810), we report a survey on marriages of parishioners. Satisfaction was high among most couples with general relationship problems such as communication reported as the highest concern. Marriage happiness was negatively correlated with couple problems. In Study 2 ( N = 241), we describe a virtue-based couple counseling program, developed collaboratively with 20 Chinese key informants. We administered an 8-hr virtue-based couple-oriented training to 241 church leaders. Training increased church leaders’ self-efficacy and hope for effective ministry. We compared responsiveness to the training by pastors and lay leaders. Lay counselors were more responsive than were pastors. This program evaluation was a field study that also included a brief follow-up interview of randomly selected recipients of the training ( n = 16). Friendship counseling was reported in the follow-up interviews as the most common way to address marriage problems.

Abstract:
Marriages in Ghana are usually preceded by counseling. It is believed that premarital counseling helps to sustain marriages because it gives couples the initial skills needed to enable them to start their marriage and solve minor problems that may be encountered in the relationship. This study was aimed at assessing the significance of premarital counseling to the sustenance of marriage. The study adopted a mixed methodological approach in gathering the data. Data was gathered from 112 individuals from three different suburbs of the capital city of Ghana. The results showed that although pre-marital counseling was observed to be important for would-be couples, it does not help sustain all marriages. Married couples that were given pre-marital counseling were getting separated as well as those who never had pre-marital counseling. It is therefore recommended that although premarital counseling may be necessary, it is not sufficient to sustain marriages. Therefore, counseling should continue even after marriage.

Abstract:
Marriage is the dream of every couple, where marriage is one of the highest forms of commitment in every individual relationship that makes love. In practice marriage is the dream of every couple to continue to be together to build a household. However, the couple's desire now becomes complicated when the marriage is difficult because of different religious beliefs. The difficulty of the legality of interfaith marriages in Indonesia becomes a polemic of interfaith couples in carrying out their marriage legally in the state or religion or even opposition faced with the family. Given this interfaith marriage today is still intensively carried out even though in practice it is difficult to implement and many problems will arise in the future. Indonesia is indeed known as a multicultural nation where differences in culture and religion are inevitable, one of which is the phenomenon of interfaith marriages now that Indonesia has five legitimate religions and streams of belief that are still developing in modern society. The state agency appointed to legalize the holy marriage is still a long-standing polemic for some couples who want to formalize their marriage. However, because they want to keep each of their beliefs, the state fully regulates marriages that require couples to marry with the same beliefs and religions, whereas in practice citizens are free to make their own choices and have the right to be happy in determining their life choices, including in terms of marriage and determining their life partners each

This study aims to analyze homosexuals engaged in heterosexual marriage, and the effect on their marital life. This study also analyzes the Christian view of homosexuals who are involved in heterosexual marriages. The result of this study is that humans were created as heterosexual beings, starting with the creation of Adam and Eve. The purpose of creating two sexes is to execute the reproductive function and for humans to not fall into sexual sin. In Christian’s view, it is stated that homosexual relationship is an abomination and forbidden. Marriage in Christianity is a sacred covenant before God. Homosexuals who engage in heterosexual marriages will have lots of conflicts, including having problems with themselves and their partners. Homosexuals in heterosexual marriage are recommended to take intensive consultation with marriage counselors, for marital happiness.

Abstract:
The problems of the family institution are reflected in the family values transformation. The patterns of family and marriage relations which are traditional for historical Russia come into conflict with modern realities. This transformation affects primarily the youth environment, putting young people in front of a tough choice between socially approved career growth and a quiet feat inconspicuous to the world within family relationships. The all-Russian study “Self-regulation of the Life of Young People in a Changing Social Reality”, conducted in the fall of 2020, revealed problematic aspects of marital relations. The traditional values of the family, which are historically common for Russia, are opposed to a set of modern values characteristic of the liberal model and sometimes inferior to the latter. The course laid down by the founders of communism to eliminate the monogamous family as an economic unit of society gives its late shoots refracting in the individualization of society, leveling the significance of official marriage unions and reducing the number of children in families. The results of the all-Russian sociological survey of young people make it possible to identify the real marital status of young people in Russia and to consider its models. The article analyzes the prevalence of so-called “civil marriages” and the correction of attitudes towards them by official bodies. The author gives the rationale for the growing popularity of the “Japanese model” in marital relations, as well as the reasons that push young people to short-term marriage unions fraught with loneliness. The nature of young people relationship with their parents is considered and different generations of youth are compared. The idea of the respondents about the meaning of the family is investigated and the main motives for marriage are established. The number of children in modern youth families is revealed and trends in various social groups are analyzed. Conclusions are drawn about the instability of the family institution in the modern world and the need to protect it by the state.

Marriage is a bond between two humans who have a noble goal, namely creating a family that brings peace (sakinah) and love (mawaddah wa rahmah) for all family members. Along with the times, many married couples are forced to do long-distance marriages due to certain factors, one of which is work problems. A husband and wife in a long-distance marital relationship, are faced with problems regarding responsibility for the integrity of the family. With the condition of husband and wife who are far apart, it can certainly create a void of roles that should be carried out by husband and wife who live under the same roof, so that family functions experience changes. As a result of the inability to carry out these demands, it is not uncommon to cause conflicts and disputes between husband and wife who live a household like this. In undergoing a long distance marriage relationship, there are many things that are certainly burdensome considerations, one of which is the need to communicate which may be neglected and psychological and biological needs that must be met. Unfulfilled needs in marriage will result in individuals seeking fulfillment of these needs outside of marriage through infidelity and even ending in divorce. Abstract:
Background: The life course health development approach, as a new theoretical model relating to health, dwells on psychosocial factors as well as biological factors, and it proposes that the effects of developmental timing unfolding over one’s lifespan should be considered. Based on this theoretical model, as well as empirical studies relating to marriage and health, one of the psychosocial factors that may contribute to the health of middle-aged individuals is the marital relationship. Aims: The aim of this study – conducted with individuals in middle adulthood – is to investigate the relationships between marital satisfaction, age at the time of marriage, SES (socioeconomic status) and psychological and physical health. Method: Data was collected from middle-aged individuals between 40–69 years in Turkey (160 women and 142 men). The World Health Organization Quality of Life Measurement Tool, Brief Symptom Inventory, Marriage Life Scale, and a Demographic Information Form were used to assess the participants’ perceived physical and psychological health, their marital satisfaction, their age of marriage, and SES. Results: A path analysis indicated that the age of marriage was positively related, and perceived psychological health problems were negatively related to perceived physical health. Both marital satisfaction and SES were negatively related to perceived psychological health problems. Upon examination of the mediator role of psychological health problems and SES, it was observed that both marital satisfaction and SES were related to perceived physical health through perceived psychological health problems. Also, the age of marriage was related to perceived psychological health problems via SES. Conclusion: The findings showed that marriage is an important component in the evaluation of perceived health in middle age; individuals are healthier when they get married at a more mature age and have a positive marital relationship.

Abstract:
During armed conflicts in some countries, it became a common practice for fighters to force women to serve as wives. Although there is usually no official conclusion of marriage, in this way a relationship is created that is in many ways similar to a conjugal relationship. In a forced marriage, "wives" were expected to maintain regular sexual relations with their "husbands", but also to perform housework, get pregnant, take care of born children and their "husbands". Having this practice in mind, the Prosecutor before the Special Court for Sierra Leone determined this behavior as forced marriage and qualified it as other inhuman acts within the framework of crimes against humanity. This opened the door for a lot of legal problems related to the "new" crime. Namely, the question arose as to what the criminal act of forced marriage entails, i.e. what is the actus reus of this criminal act. Then, what is the difference between forced marriage and some other acts of crimes against humanity that are similar to it, such as, for example, sexual slavery. And finally, is forced marriage an act that is similar in its character to other acts of crime against humanity, so that it could be classified as other inhumane acts. The paper analyzes the etiological-phenomenological dimension of forced marriages in Cambodia, Sierra Leone and Uganda. After that, decisions of Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, Special Court for Sierra Leone and permanent International Criminal Court are analyzed regarding all disputed issues related to forced marriage: the status of this act in international criminal law, the relationship with other similar international criminal offenses and the concept of forced marriage. Finally, proposals de lege ferenda are presented regarding the definition of forced marriage and its explicit prescription in international criminal law.

Abstract:
Article 2 paragraph  (1) of Law Number 1 Year 1974 contains provisions that marriage shall be considered valid if done according to the law of their respective religion and belief. The above provision implies no marriage outside the law of each of his or her religion and belief. Intermarriages between people of different religions will obviously cause problems as a result of the law of their marriage, most of which include the rights and duties of each husband and wife, property in marriage, as well as the position of the child in a marriage relationship. Problems will arise when the child has been born starting from the pattern of upbringing until when the child is adult and ably performs legal acts such as marriage, inheritance, and so forth. This research is intended to get answers to the problems: (1) How the position of the Child from Marriage parents of different religions? 2) How does the child's relationship with her parents' parent if the child chooses a religion differently from both parents? The invention of the answer to this question is pursued by the Empirical Normative Legal Research Method. The law acts as a Norm (Legislation), with due regard to social reality. The results of the study are: (1) The marriage of religious differences according to the Marriage Law is considered invalid as well as the child born of the Marriage. (2) A child born of a different religious marriage only has a nasab with his mother.

Divorced individuals offer explanations for why their relationship ended, yet little is known about the development of these problems during the relationship. Problems that lead to divorce may exist at the beginning of the marriage (enduring dynamics model) or may develop over time (emergent distress model). We asked 40 divorced individuals about the reasons for their divorce and compared the development of problems that did and did not contribute to their divorce over the first few years of their marriage. Results support an emergent distress model for wives as they saw problems that lead to divorce increasing over time. Results for husbands indicated that they were less attuned to problems overall, suggesting that wives are the bellwether for relationship problems.

This article uses data from the Fragile Families and Child Well-being Survey to examine the association between transitioning to marriage and general health status or serious health problems among low-income men. Beginning with a sample of 3,631 unmarried fathers, the study observes the relationship between their transitions to marriage within 3 years after the birth of their child and their health status 5 years postbirth. The authors also explore if unmarried fathers benefit from marrying mothers who have health insurance. Results indicate that transitions to marriage and transitions to marriage with mothers who have health insurance, are associated with fewer serious health problems. The authors did not observe a significant relationship between transitioning to marriage and general health, likely because the sample comprised men who were young (average age was 26 years) and in very good health.

Abstract:
In recent years, the phenomenon of cross-border marriage has provoked an increase of international disputes in family relationship. In Malaysia, due to growing cross-border marriage, the Shariah Court in Malaysia cannot avoid and they have been forced to react to this situation. Patterns and characteristics of cross-border marriage have varied widely among world regions and races and therefore need theoretical enlightenments. The ideals of marriage which may reflect in husbands and wives thinking of living happily ever after may easily be stumped by the realities of life when problems arise. Due to the increasing number of cross-border marriage and very limited research on the international dimensions of the law regulating peculiar aspects of marriages, this paper aims to discuss the application of rules of private international law in the Malaysian Shariah courts affecting recognition of cross-border marriage. Abstract:
This study aims to find the concept of match making or coercion in marriage against women. Women are more sensitive to match making issues and express disagreement with practices that violate women’s rights and endanger their future. However, previous researchers also considered match making coercion, sowe tried to research what if it was adapted to the concept of kafa'ah according to Shariah. The method used in this researchis a literature review by looking at the book an-nikah by Shaykh Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari, written in the 17th century AD. Through a hermeneuticalapproach, the researcher explores the marriage problems that her parents thought to becornering women in marriage problems. We try to uncover marriage problems that are sometimes considered to push women into marriage problems by their parents. This research proves that the concept of kafa'ah in al-Banjari theory can eliminate the perception of match making with a coercive system, because in the kafa'ah what is prioritized is a person's faith relationship which is ultimatelyable to maintain the honor of his wife and family. Not only in terms of material, but more inclined to approach immaterial needs. The Immaterial approach is evidenced by the harmonious relationship between the two families of the bride and groom.

Abstract:
Romantic relationships have become one of the strongest predictors of life satisfaction and well-being as couples provide social and emotional support to one another. However, the level of intimacy between couples might decline due to increasing commitment over the years of marriage. When the level of intimacy decreases, negative consequences might happen which includes separation, divorce, as well as physical or mental health problems. It is common for individuals to get involved in romantic relationships; therefore, individuals need to understand the components that facilitate a positive relationship to minimize negative consequences from happening. Besides, having good romantic relationships enables individuals to be more satisfied with their life and improve their well-being. This paper discusses about the different factors that contribute to relationship satisfaction such as socioeconomic status, breadwinner arrangement in family, attachment styles, communication skills, physical appearance, cultural differences, duration of marriage and presence of children in marriage. This paper also specifically analyse and discuss how a positive state and mindset can contribute to positive relationships.

Abstract:
This research aims to analyze Jennifer Probst’s The Marriage Bargain from a Marxist perspective to examine how social institutions like marriage and human emotions are commodified in the era of late capitalism. The novel deals with the theme of love, romance and marriage, but also highlights the commodification of marriage in a capitalist society. The two main characters, Alexandria and Nicholas, use marriage as a means to solve their economic problems, challenging the traditional notion of marriage as a bonding of two souls. This research aims to explore this phenomenon. This qualitative study employs a Marxist literary analysis of the novel, focusing on the commodification of marriage and human emotions in the late capitalist society. It examines how the novel’s characters challenge the traditional concept of marriage and use it as a commodity to satisfy their material needs. The core finding of this research is that under the harsh economic pressures of late capitalism, human emotions and social institutions like marriage are commodified, and people compromise their ideals for economic gain. The novel shows how marriage is used as a commodity to solve economic problems, and how the traditional concept of marriage is being challenged by the utilitarian values of modern societies. The research concludes that The Marriage Bargain is an illustrative example of the commodification of marriage and human emotions in late capitalism. The exploration of this discourse clarifies how the institution of marriage is being used as a commodity to satisfy material needs. The novel raises an uncommon issue regarding the marital relationship, and the utilitarian attitude of its characters towards their own marriage represents the emerging social problem of the reification of human relationships.

Abstract:
Marriage is an important thing in the life of a woman. The importance that our society attaches to marriage is reflected in our literature and it is the central concern of Shashi Deshpade’s novels. In our society where girl learns early that she is ‘Paraya Dhan’, and she is her parents’ responsibility till the day she is handed over to her rightful owners. What a girl makes of her life, how she shapes herself as an individual, what profession she takes up is not as important as whom she marries. Marriage is the ultimate goal of a woman’s life. This paper attempts to probe into the problems of marriage through the protagonists of her novels where one enjoys the freedom of marriage and the other accepts the traditional marriage. Shashi Deshpade highlights the problems of marriage faced by middle-class people in finding suitable grooms for their daughters. This problem is well-illustrated through the characters of her novels. Since the girl’s mind over her childhood is tuned that she is another’s property, she tries to attach a lot of importance to it. it is indeed a tragedy that even in the modern age, Indian females echo the same sentiment where it was marriage which mattered most of them but not to the men. It is a beginning of females sacrifices in life that marriage brings to her. Shashi Deshpande encourages her female protagonists to rise in rebellion against the males in the family matters, instead she wants to build a harmonious relationship between man and woman in a mood of compromise and reconciliation.

In this review, it is aimed to focus on the integration of spirituality into family-oriented psychological help processes. To conceptualize the reflection of spirituality on the family system more clearly and to make sense of the spirituality-family relationship, the issue of spirituality was examined in specific processes such as in the relationship between parents and children, between spouses and in the transition process from adolescence to late age. The paradoxical nature of spirituality in family relationships was emphasized. For this purpose, spirituality was discussed both as a source of problems and as a source for solutions in family relations. Spiritually oriented psychological clinical help is an emerging field in Turkey. Seeing that spirituality is such an important issue in family relations and marriage, it is aimed to bring a family-focused approach to the spiritually oriented psychological help process. So, by addressing ethical issues, this review aims to offer a new perspective to field practitioners working with couples and families in clinical practice.

Abstract:
In most marriages, marital problems are encountered once in a while. Couples who have very happy marriages also encounter problems in their relationship with each other due to an offense committed by the spouse. For a couple to maintain a healthy marital relationship, they need to have the ability to forgive each other. Through forgiveness, married partners become more like Christ and invite the Holy Spirit to enable them to show their love for the spouse and build a safe and holy relationship that could bring contentment. The study examined the role of trait forgiveness in marital contentment among married men and women selected in two Christ Is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) assemblies in Nairobi, namely Woodley and Valley Road. The objectives of the study were to examine the role of trait forgiveness on marital contentment and to investigate how commitment, empathy, and communication affect the relationship between forgiveness and marital contentment. A mixed-methods design was used to collect data using questionnaires and a focus group discussion guide. Results showed a very strong positive correlation between trait forgiveness and marital contentment with a relatively high composite score being obtained for trait forgiveness. Results revealed themes of intimacy, patience, affirmation, self-control, reflection, and praying together on the moderating role of commitment, empathy, and communication. This calls for its magnification in both counseling practice and marriage and family therapy sessions as a sustainable antidote to marital contentment under relational stress, especially among Christian couples. Counseling practitioners should therefore emphasize the principle of forgiveness as the key to healing emotional wounds that are caused by offenses that manifest in the course of a marriage.

Marriage is an inner and outer bond between men and women that is entwined in a domestic relationship to create a household that is sakinah mawaddah warahmah. One of the condotiont that must be obeyed in the implementation of a marriage regulated by law is that the bride and groom must be of legal age. Every marriage that has not meet the marriage age limit, is essentially called a underage marriage is affirmed in article 7 of law Number 1 of 1974 and article 1 paragraph (1) of Law Number 23 of 2002 Concerning Child Protecdtion, that is child someone who is not yet 18 years old and is a pruning of the freedom of chldren’s rights in obtaining the rights to life as a teenager who has the potential to grow, develop and potentially positively according to what is outlined in religion. The problems discussed in this thesis are the intercourse of minors in marital relations and the effects arising from such marriages, because in fiqih view no punishman is given for this action. However, if viewed from the perspective of national law, underage marriages have violated several law and regulations. The factors that influence it’s effectiveness are the subtance of the law Article 332 of the Criminal Code, Law Number 16 of 2019 and Law Number 23 of 2002. The conclusion of this thesis is that the aplication of sanctions against underage run away women in marriage in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency has never been applied because the are no reports from the victims althought the criminal law regulates sanctions againts the perpetrators because it has caused harm to the victims (women)

However, if viewed from the perspective of national law, underage marriages have violated several law and regulations. The factors that influence it’s effectiveness are the subtance of the law Article 332 of the Criminal Code, Law Number 16 of 2019 and Law Number 23 of 2002. The conclusion of this thesis is that the aplication of sanctions against underage run away women in marriage in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency has never been applied because the are no reports from the victims althought the criminal law regulates sanctions againts the perpetrators because it has caused harm to the victims (women).

Abstract:
The present study assessed the interaction and cognitive styles that were associated with different levels of negative affect for husbands and wives. Without an observer present, 28 couples audiotaped problem-solving discussions in the home. Each spouse also filled out questionnaires measuring the extent to which they viewed their relationship as a resource for helping them with problems. The audiotapes were coded using the Couple's Interaction Scoring System (CISS) and then subjected to a series of proportional, sequential, and bivariate time-series analyses dyad by dyad. The results indicated that wives' negative affect was directly related to their attempts to confront the problem and enforce their own views (e.g., metacommunication, counterproposals, appeals), and was inversely related to their attempts to be conciliatory (e.g., agreement, mind reading with neutral voice tone). Husbands' negative affect was inversely related to both spouses' attempts to be conciliatory (agreement, proposals, contracting), and to the wives' viewing the relationship as a resource for helping them with their problems.

Premarital counselors, as educators who are Islamic, competent, professional, and have integrity, use the Al-Qur'an and Sunnah in answering life's problems with a positive counseling mindset so that they know the relationship with God, application in life, awareness, and meaningful self-quality. The five needs of premarital counseling with an Islamic approach are the basis for developing a premarital counseling model with an Islamic system to be implemented in group and individual counseling. The design of Islamic premarital counseling can be designed for the prevention of early marriages and unwanted cases.

Abstract:
Every society's basic concerns revolve around marriage, which call for both mental and physical coordination to ensure a long-lasting chain of relationships. Responsible actions and a good outlook enable people to participate in society and make marriage effective in many ways. Couples' deliberate behavior and pervasive social phenomena are to blame for the disruption in marital matters. An American Marriage (2018) by Tayari Jones is the subject of the current study, which explores marital problems. Reader-Response Theory (RRT) by Rosenblatt (1978) and Fish (2000) is used for the textual analysis of the novel to determine the marital concerns highlighted in the narrative. RRT bases its interpretation of the texts on the reader's experiences, goals, attitude, and preexisting theologies. RRT expands the text's essential elements by manipulating new meanings that are not contained in the text. The study's main goals are to identify the social vices, behaviors, and ambitions of the characters that fall victim to problems and have an impact on the marriage features depicted in the book. The methodology used to manipulate the objectives is qualitative and descriptive in nature. The study's findings indicate that while male members of marriages frequently leave responsible and constructive behavior in favour of sexual lust and freedom of action, this leads to the breakdown of marriages. The findings also demonstrate that women have stronger intentions than men to preserve the marital union since women's gender demands "protection and loyalty," which are typically not met by male members, leading to the breakdown of the union. Abstract:
"In this study I present the possibilities of magical influence on marriages, based on my fieldwork in a Transylvanian village. I investigate how, according to the villagers, the creation and dissolution of marriages can be magically influenced, and how they use magic to interpret the delay of the marriage, conflicts between spouses, broken relationships, and the death of a spouse. The location of the research is a village with an ethnically and religiously mixed population, where Reformed Hungarians, Orthodox Romanians and mainly Orthodox Roma live. The study is divided into three parts. In the first part, I will focus on the recollections of the older generation, in the second part, on cases that happened in the lives of the middle-aged population, and in the third part, I will compare cases preserved in memory with contemporary cases. This comparison reveals that methods of magical intervention have changed, as have the kinds of problems that arise. From contemporary stories, it seems that the marriage prospects of an unmarried youth are no longer influenced by magic. If there is a suspicion that a marriage is being prevented by magical means (binding), people try to break this binding with the help of Romanian Orthodox priests or seers/clairvoyants. Priests and clairvoyants also pray over the clothes of those wishing to marry, and at the same time mothers fast for their unmarried children. Magic has been replaced by methods drawn from Romanian Orthodox religious practice, which are accepted and practised in secret by most of the Hungarians in the village. Reflecting on the images of marriage being hindered by magical binding and of the predestined partner (RO: ursita/ursitul), I examine the relationship between Romanian and Hungarian beliefs and interpretative possibilities, referring to previous Hungarian and Romanian ethnographic research. In addition, I summarize everything that is important in relation to the specialists involved (seers or clairvoyants, Romanian Orthodox priests). According to local perception, the social institution of marriage can be influenced through magic. Marriage, divorce, and the death of one of the parties can also be interpreted magically within the local framework of interpretation."

Asset settlement and representation of same-sex partners in informal relationships The division of assets after the dissolution of a same-sex relationship generates an increasing number of problems in relation to the institutionalization of both same-sex and different-sex relationships in different EU countries. Polish law does not recognize civil partnerships or same-sex marriages. However, it has become more common for a same-sex partners from a marriage registered outside Poland to acquire rights under the rules of common marital property law in force in another country, which has legal consequences under Polish law. In practice, in day-to-day matters and in legal transactions, partners act on the basis of very specific powers of attorney, granting them a much wider range of rights than those to which spouses are authorized under the common marital property law.
