Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Bensaïd’s interest in Marranism is part of his broader interest in Jewish mysticism, read in a profane and secularised way, and of his search for new theoretical paths with which to renew revolutionary Marxist theory. ‘Marrano’ refers to the Spanish–Portuguese Jews who were forcibly converted to Christianity in the fifteenth century and who were suspected of judaising in secret. The term has been increasingly used by many authors, including Bensaïd, in a broad sense, often as a metaphor that goes beyond the study of actual Marranos to acquire a broader meaning. Bensaïd uses Marranism to think about some aspects of political strategy and, at the same time, strategically uses Marranism to approach certain debates. The Marrano is the metaphorical and metonymic figure through which he tries to think a new internationalism that simultaneously transcends both an abstract universalism that legitimates inequalities and oppression and an anti-universalist communitarian withdrawal.

Abstract:
This paper is dedicated to Michael J. Duff on the occasion of his 70th birthday. I discuss some issues of M-theory/string theory/supergravity closely related to Mike’s interests. I describe a relation between STU black hole entropy, the Cayley hyperdeterminant, the Bhargava cube and a three-qubit Alice–Bob–Charlie triality symmetry. I shortly describe my recent work with Gunaydin, Linde and Yamada on M-theory cosmology (Gunaydin et al. 2020 M-theory cosmology, octonions, error-correcting codes ( http://arxiv.org/abs/2008.01494 )), inspired by the work of Duff with Ferrara and Borsten, Levay, Marrani et al. Here, we have seven-qubits, a party including Alice, Bob, Charlie, Daisy, Emma, Fred and George. Octonions and Hamming error-correcting codes are at the base of these models. They lead to seven benchmark targets of future cosmic microwave background missions looking for primordial gravitational waves from inflation. I also show puzzling relations between the fermion mass eigenvalues in these cosmological models, the exceptional Jordan eigenvalue problem and black hole entropy. The symmetry of our cosmological models is illustrated by beautiful pictures of a Coxeter projection of the root system of E7.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This article is an attempt to re-read the magnum opus of Adorno’s philosophy, namely Aesthetic Theory, using an interpretative key offered by Agata Bielik-Robson’s book entitled Jewish Cryptotheologies of Late Modernity: Philosophical Marranos. This interpretative key, called by the Author The Marrano Strategy implemented to Adorno’s late philosophy allows us to investigate the common points of Adorno’s theory of art criticism and modern Jewish thought. Therefore the main question of this text concerns the characteristics of Jewishness and messianicity (Scholem, Derrida) in Adorno’s Aesthetic Theory. The thesis that I am attempting to justify is as follows: the implementation of Marrano strategy to the modern art criticism redefines and reverses the relationship between the particular element and the universal domain. Consequently, this dialectical ‘appreciation’ of the particular establishes a common conceptual field for critical thinking and traditional, religious motifs.

Abstract:
It is shown that the algebra [Formula: see text] based on the complexified Exceptional Jordan, and the complex Clifford algebra in 4D, is rich enough to describe all the spinorial degrees of freedom of three generations of fermions in 4D, and include additional fermionic dark matter candidates. Furthermore, the model described in this paper can account also for the Standard Model gauge symmetries. We extend these results to the Magic Star algebras of Exceptional Periodicity developed by Marrani–Rios–Truini and based on the Vinberg cubic [Formula: see text] algebras which are generalizations of exceptional Jordan algebras. It is found that there is a one-to-one correspondence among the real spinorial degrees of freedom of four generations of fermions in 4D with the off-diagonal entries of the spinorial elements of the [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] of Vinberg matrices at level [Formula: see text]. These results can be generalized to higher levels [Formula: see text] leading to a higher number of generations beyond 4. Three [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] algebras and their conjugates [Formula: see text] were essential in the Magic Star construction of Exceptional Periodicity that extends the [Formula: see text] algebra to [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] integer.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Born a Portuguese Marrano circa 1612, Dr. Prado preached in Andalusia and exiled himself to Rome in 1653 and then to Hamburg. Converted to Judaism he settled in Amsterdam and mixed with scholars such as Spinoza as the deism of his youth resurfaced. Banished from congregation, he rebelled against rabbinic law, but sought nonetheless to remain a part of the Jewish community. In Antwerp where he died in 1669 he sought forgiveness from the Jews as well as the Inquisition. His life allows us to study the evolution of a New Christian converted to crypto-Judaism and his complex identity. It transcends the division between the histories of Iberia and the Jews by shedding light upon the uniqueness of Marranism and Sefardic spirituality. Prado remains unique in his complex thoughts on Man's relation to God and to the Text and his quest for Judaism as an identity. A disconcerting, dissident personality, he personifies a European culture in which heterodoxy knew no boundaries

Abstract:

Bunn, John J. "Investigation of the replacement of Margaret River hairy marron Cherax tenuimanus (Smith) by smooth marron C. cainii Austin." Thesis, Edith Cowan University, Research Online, Perth, Western Australia, 2004. https://ro.ecu.edu.au/theses/810.

Full text
Abstract:
The Margaret River hairy marron, Cherax tenuimanus (Smith, 1912) (Decapoda: Parastacidae) is critically endangered due to the introduction of the widespread marron, C. cainii Austin, 2002. This project investigates the rapid replacement of C. tenuimanus with studies important to its conservation. The ability to identify correctly in the field C. tenuimanuss, C. cainii and hybrids was investigated by linking morphology and marker allozyme loci. C. tenuimanus was readily identified in the field and errors were conservative; no genetically identified hybrids or C. cainii were field identified as C. tenuimauus during tissue samples collection. A prototype field identification guide has been constructed, aiming to provide the general public with an ability to identify correctly in the field C. tenuimanus. This should allow community participation in recovery plans centred on active removal of C. cainii and hybrids and ensure minimal accidental removal of C. tenuimanus. The guide will serve to allow recreational marron fishing within C. tenuimanus habitat, and raise public awareness about C. tenuimanus and its conservation. For the purpose of investigating the role of hybridisation in the replacement, accurate field identification of hybrid marron, based on morphology, was not achievable. Investigation into the relationship between median carina length and orbital carapace length recorded during tissue sample collection provided some distinction, but not at a diagnostic level. The genetically diverse F2 or backcross hybrid marron had the lowest accurate field identification. Further investigation into morphological and morphometric relationships will be necessary if precise accuracy in field identification of marron is deemed possible. The distribution of marron species within Margaret River was mapped with C. tenuimanus found almost exclusively in the forested upper reaches, only in sympatry with C. cainii. An abrupt boundary of occurrence exists for C. tenuimamus between agricultural land use and state forest. A very small population of C. tenuimanus exists in the extreme lower reaches. It is proposed that extrinsic factors associated with the middle and lower reaches (changed water flows, presence of shelter, water pollution, fishing pressure, etc.) might account for the increased replacement of C. tenuimanus. Repeated mark-recapture within a sympatric population aimed to investigate replacement mechanisms based on differences in intrinsic factors. Although not overly powerful, results suggested C. cainii has a greater growth rate and earlier spawning period, both of which are attributes known to influence freshwater crayfish replacement elsewhere in the world. A conceptual flowchart based on interacting intrinsic and extrinsic factors that influence the replacement of C. tenuimanus by C. cainii was constructed. This flowchart provides guidance in future research on replacement mechanisms and recovery actions for C. tenuimanus. C. tenuimanus was nominated as critically endangered to the Western Australian Department of Conservation and Land Management. This was accepted and is currently awaiting final Ministerial approval prior to formal gazettal. An Interim Recovery Team has been established and is led by the Department of Fisheries. Management recommendations are made with an emphasis on prioritising actions providing the most immediate and long-term advantage for C. tenuimanus. The Margaret River community is considered to be an important component in the overall recovery process.

VASCHALDE, MONTGENOT NICOLE. "Le personnage de pouvoir africain. Rendement marratif, ideologique, fantasmatique." Nantes, 1990. http://www.theses.fr/1990NANT3007.

Full text
Abstract:
The appearance of the african figure of pwer in both western and african prose fiction is due to several factors ; the historical situation resulting from the states attaining independence; the increased public interest in politics and, above all, originality of a character who or be broadly defined in historical terms but nevertheless leaves considerable scope for escapism. Prose narrative plays on this dichotomy of imagination and reality. Making the novel fluctuate between opposing poles of eye-witness account and dream sequence. The protagoniste expresses, in a manner that is both spectacular and grandiloquent. The different ideological arguments associated with the wielding of power; the latter always being treated in a gaily grotesque way. That it is a time of great changes helps to explain the political uncertainty and the contradictions that characterise the wide variety of options chosen in whatever area : in developing the country , in overseeing the transition fom myth to history, and in constructing a state a nation out of what is still a heterogeous society. Africa remains like some huge unworked quarry, exploited by adventurers to provide the western imagination with a wealh of fantasm and african fiction with the sorry spectacle of human barbarity

Abstract:
Abstract North Kuwait Jurassic Gas asset development has strategic value of gas independency for Kuwait as it is the only non-associated gas producing asset. This paper will share the experience, added value, challenges and lessons learned from the successful implementation of first ever Hybrid 15k Multi-Stage Completion in Kuwait across Najma unconventional gas carbonate reservoir commingled with lower cemented liner completion in conventional Middle-Marrat tight carbonate reservoir. This completion configuration enables acceleration of selective stimulation and testing of Najma unconventional production potential in existing wells, and simultaneous comingled production from both reservoirs to maximize well production potential. The development of North Kuwait Jurassic deep unconventional gas carbonate reservoirs is key to compensate the production decline from conventional producing Middle-Marrat reservoir and to achieve the production target of Jurassic gas asset. The recovery from such unconventional reservoirs is extremely challenging if conventional development strategies are applied. Therefore, a dedicated full development plan applying integrated upstream and downstream technologies is important to achieve commercial production. The NK field development team has initiated a study to test the potential of unconventional Najmah formation in existing wells to evaluate the production potential and accelerate production from such reservoirs. The typical completion of Jurassic wells include Najmah reservoir in the 7-5/8″ cemented liner section followed by the Marrat reservoir completed in 5″ or 4.5″ cemented liner section. The multidisciplinary team efforts have yielded an innovative hybrid completion solution of 15K rated cased-hole ball-drop multistage completion across Najma reservoir layers and cemented liner across Middle-Marrat reservoir layers that allows selective commingled production of Middle-Marrat and Najmah with ensuring full selective stimulation potential across Najmah reservoirs through the multistage completion. Many completion design, operations and installation challenges were resolved to ensure mechanical isolation of lower depleted conventional reservoir before perforation the upper unconventional reservoir and running the multistage across it. This is to mitigate the challenges of high differential pressure of approximately 5,000 psi between the two reservoirs in completion phase to avoid high formation damage to the depleted Middle-Marrat lower reservoir plus well control during rig operation. This innovative hybrid completion has been installed successfully in one well as first time ever in Kuwait. Najmah and Middle Marrat reservoirs have been selectively stimulated and tested individually then commingled production from both reservoir as first time in Jurassic gas fields and Kuwait. PLT showed positive production contribution from Najma open frac ports and no cross flow among open reservoirs. There is a plan to expand such Hybrid completion to other candidates. This innovative completion configuration can be used in similar application for commingling production to minimize cost of new wells for different reservoirs.

Abstract:
Abstract The Middle Marrat reservoir of Jurassic age is a tight carbonate reservoir with vertical and horizontal heterogeneous properties. The variation in lithology, vertical and horizontal facies distribution lead to complicated reservoir characterization which lead to unexpected production behavior between wells in the same reservoir. Marrat reservoir characterization by conventional logging tools is a challenging task because of its low clay content and high-resistivity responses. The low clay content in Marrat reservoirs gives low gamma ray counts, which makes reservoir layer identification difficult. Additionally, high resistivity responses in the pay zones, coupled with the tight layering make production sweet spot identification challenging. To overcome these challenges, integration of data from advanced logging tools like Sidewall Magnetic Resonance (SMR), Geochemical Spectroscopy Tool (GST) and Electrical Borehole Image (EBI) supplied a definitive reservoir characterization and fluid typing of this Tight Jurassic Carbonate (Marrat formation). The Sidewall Magnetic resonance (SMR) tool multi wait time enabled T2 polarization to differentiate between moveable water and hydrocarbons. After acquisition, the standard deliverables were porosity, the effective porosity ratio, and the permeability index to evaluate the rock qualities. Porosity was divided into clay-bound water (CBW), bulk-volume irreducible (BVI) and bulk-volume moveable (BVM). Rock quality was interpreted and classified based on effective porosity and permeability index ratios. The ratio where a steeper gradient was interpreted as high flow zones, a gentle gradient as low flow zones, and a flat gradient was considered as tight baffle zones. SMR logging proved to be essential for the proper reservoir characterization and to support critical decisions on well completion design. Fundamental rock quality and permeability profile were supplied by SMR. Oil saturation was identified by applying 2D-NMR methods, T1/T2 vs. T2 and Diffusion vs. T2 maps in a challenging oil-based mud environment. The Electrical Borehole imaging (EBI) was used to identify fracture types and establish fracture density. Additionally, the impact of fractures to enhance porosity and permeability was possible. The Geochemical Spectroscopy Tool (GST) for the precise determination of formation chemistry, mineralogy, and lithology, as well as the identification of total organic carbon (TOC). The integration of the EBI, GST and SMR datasets provided sweet spots identification and perforation interval selection candidates, which the producer used to bring wells onto production.
