Full textBetween the end of the nineteenth century and the Second World War, science has been shaken by criticism which aimed at experimental logic and determinism. Both principles structured and justified research on the laws of nature. These events have provoked a general movement in the reorganisation of research, in the revision of its objectives and its methods, as well as the practical intentions of science and its meaning. This study evaluates the contribution of this episode in the history of science through the changes in the sociology of Émile Durkheim and Marcel Mauss. While taking into consideration other scientific projects, this case study provides more general reflections on the progress of science and the moral purpose of contemporary research.

Full textWe aim : 1) to show a large coherence between the scientific project of Mauss as is formulated in his " essais sur le don " and his ethical-political project in favor of democratic and associational socialism ; 2) to show that the MAUSS - le Mouvement anti-utilitariste dans les sciences sociales - is the worthy heir ; 3) and that therefore the Maussian paradigm of the donation is superior in principle to the paradigms of the “école de la régulation”, of the “économie des conventions”, and of the supporters of a solidarity economy, or rather is the point of convergence and truth

Full textThe refoundation of sociology by a third paradigm who tries to overcome the methodological problems of sociological individualism and collectivism has to emphasize two majors trends of the modem social sciences: at first, it is the attempt to continue- social philosophy by others means, i. E. To critisize the use of the phenomenological knowledge in sociology; then, it has to consider the human relation as its key-phenomenon. In this work, we are pointing out the ambivalent structure of social exchange analysing and comparing the concept of Wechselwirkung from Georg Simmel and the gift from Marcel Mauss. The autors can be considered as the major sources of this approach, whereas the main sociological attitude was to reduce or to ignore their central issues, transforming human interaction into economical-rational behaviour. We try on the contrary to emphasize that Simmel and Mauss take in account how a complex social relationship should be theoretically considered nowadays. It can be separated and analysed in three epistemological spheres: the constitutive level (moment of birth of a relationship), the determinative level (determination between social facts each others) and the level of the two processes (symbolization and differentiation) they bind the constitutive and determinative levels and lead to the sens and forms that a human relation produce in the everyday-life

Full textMy research focuses on the female characters in In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust from the perspective of the "desire" of René Girard, the "gift" of Marcel Mauss and the "focus" of Gérard Genette. The variable focus in the narrative facilitates the comprehension of all relationships, connections and in particular the passion and the varied emotional projections of the hero for these women. He believes that his dreams will come true through these women. It will be the narrator, another "me" of the hero, who will demystify this feeling. In fact, his satisfaction is not in regard to the women themselves, but to the peripheral qualities that he can find from these women. Girard defends the desire of bad processes, he talks about the mimicry, rivalry and violence in desire which is also from the imagination. Girard's theory of mimetic desire composed of envy, jealousy and helpless hatred corresponds exactly to the unhealthy desire of the young hero for these women. The theory of Mauss regarding mutual recognition as being composed of "three obligations" which constitute a good social relationship. He defends not only the good processes like friendship, love and gift exchange, but also the topic of rivalry. It might seem that these two theories are contradictory, but Desire and the Gift coexist in fact in this novel, we can find them in our new interpretation. The hero's pursuit of friendship and social glory is defeated, however all pages on art shows us the philosophy of Proust, which is not possible by love is possible through literature. In Search of Lost Time is a gift of the author, it's a comprehension all about life

This study’s main objective is to examine compensation links and forms made in militant career of Transamazônica and Xingu leaders (Pará, Brazil) through social networks. Our analysis is focused on leaders who built his/her activism in social movements and they are designed in professional associations such as Agricultural Workers Federation (regional FETAGRI) and Public Education Workers Union (SINTEPP from Pará state). The period selected for this analysis since the 1980, culminating with the moment from reorganization of social movements Transamazônica e Xingu. We conceive such bonds, exchange and retribution systems as woven alliances, exchanges carried out and retribution ways over their trajectories as militants. This analysis is grounded in Marcel Mauss (1872-1950)’ donation concept, which has been and systematized in his essay Essai Sur le Don: Forme et Raison de l’Échange dans les Sociétés Archaiques, from 1925. The gift was chosen as theoretical perspective because it is endowed with analytical power able to explain one of this thesis’ most significant aspects: “covenant” and “link” notions present in the networks woven by such leaders. Methodology is based on leaders’ trajectory analysis linked to career concept. This concept aims to realize a procedural or sequential militant action model when it comes to social networks woven in leaders’ trajectories. In this research, we understand that such leaders’ militancy adherence, engagement, longevity and extent are based upon various recognition forms, mainly related to the moral obligation to return.

Full textThis research work deals specifically with the aporia of Maussian symbolical anthropology (Marcel Mauss 1872-1950) and more generally with the symbolism of time in Oceanian forms (petroglyphs, decorations, primitive drawings, tattooings, etc. . . ). It is divided into four parts. Expectations and Taboo : The questions asked by Mauss about social expectations have never been satisfactorily answered. A reappraisal of the theoretical ‘block', the dead-end of the psychology of ‘emotions' and the theme of Polynesian taboo is proposed to show how contemporary anthropology has been led astray. Social expectations and taboo are linked to inspire a second reading of The Gift in which both themes of gift and time are aporetically tackled. If giving and expecting are mutually exclusive, what does expecting mean ? Cultural and sociological interpretations fail to grasp social symbolism, are unaware of the symbolic system and pragmatics which Mauss was attempting to found. This first stage stresses the topicality of our work and open the debate. Anthropology and Psychoanalysis : Pseudo-Freudian anthropology claims to be giving birth to a ‘pragmatics' by taking it out of its symbolical realm. It is therefore necessary to historically look back on the relationships that the two sciences have been entertaining. This second stage takes up again the historical and methodological elements. Theophagy and Forms of the ‘Persona' : The ‘consumption' of the present renders possible a founding Oceanian symbolic system. A universal anthropological fantasy condenses all the phases of Polynesian orality. How does The Gift affect our cultural perception of the Polynesians ? By tying up the analysis of the counterinvestments repressing that fantasy to the apparition of formal ‘signifiers' of time in forms and tattoos. Force aimed at the cannibalistic drive, the Oceanian theophagous representation looks like a ‘formal mask'

Full textThis dissertation is a study of the work of the french sociologist marcel mauss, which gives this work a double status : it is both the main source and the symptom of a general theoretical seachange and a whole reformulation of the relation between human sciences and philosophy. The first part of the thesis defines in historical terms the object of the analysis : specific epistemological setting wich emerges at the begining of the xxth century from those three lines constitued by philosophy, anthropology and sociology. The originality of mauss' project is then studied following tow directions : first, a close examination of the social-psychic relation, overcoming the implied dualism of the individual and the collective. Second, a study of the development of linguistic, and its relation to the study of social phenomena. Closing the examination is a study of the theoretical core of the whole maussian approach, the concept of symbolism, wich is illustrated with the study of the gift phenomenon.
Abstract: Solidarity is a founding concept of Sociology. Notwithstanding such status, for many decades solidarity has occupied a marginal position in the sociological debates, despite the deep transformations through which the contemporary societies have passed, with clear consequences in various processes of socialization and differentiation. Accordingly, this work seeks to recover a critical and contemporary concept of solidarity and overcome the aforementioned theoretical deficiency. It is committed to the genealogical analysis of the concept and the clarification of its historical roots, pursuing its ramifications and development in the twentieth century in two major paradigms of the social sciences: the communicative paradigm, based on the Critical Theory by Jürgen Habermas, and the gift paradigm, from a non-structuralist review of Marcel Mauss' The Gift. Finally, the author's purpose is to give rise to a living and current concept of solidarity through a discussion of the virtues and weaknesses of the two paradigms, thus calling attention to the importance of solidarity within the social sciences

Full textExploring grace in light of the gift practices studied by Marcel Mauss is relevant from an anthropological standpoint as much as from a theological standpoint: such is the hypothesis explored in this systematic theology research. Precisely, this hypothesis is tested through an analytical reading of the works of two authors who, in their respective fields and with the ambition of rethinking grace, showed a resolute interest in Mauss’s essay on the gift and devoted a special attention to the ritual dimension of gift practices. In his work, Marcel Hénaff considers grace from an anthropological point of view and relates it – with its diverse practices and theories – to the ceremonial gift exchange tradition which can be found in societies without a central state, but he also mainly shows how it implies a major transformation of this tradition. Ceremonial gift exchange and grace are primarily concerned with public recognition and social bonding – in other words, with symbolism – but that recognition is also embodied in very different institutions. In order to understand what is at stake in these different forms of recognition, it is essential not only to relate them to the different types of social organization in which they are found, but also to consider their «invisible» part, that is the relationships with the diverse figures of the invisible – spirits, ancestors, gods. This is how Marcel Hénaff’s anthropology of recognition sheds light on the Christian tradition and on its handling of the gift. In Christian theology, Louis-Marie Chauvet also approaches grace in relation to Mauss’s essay and thinking on gift practices. In Chauvet’s variegated theory of the «symbolic», the ceremonial gift as a «symbolic exchange» stands out. The vocabulary associated with symbolic exchange not only formulates the important questions, it is also central in his theology of Christian covenant and grace. The same applies to the Eucharist, which he addresses as a gift ritual and through which he examines the Christian heritage of grace. In many ways, Hénaff’s and Chauvet’s work complete each other. The former is mindful of the rituals in societies without a central state and shows an authentic theological curiosity. However, he does not say much about Christian rituality. The latter is mindful of Christian rituals and shows an authentic anthropological curiosity, but he tends to underestimate the difference between «symbolic exchange» in societies without a central state and what could be a Christian «symbolic exchange». Finally, both examine and question western and modern societies regarding their possibilities, but also the challenges they are facing concerning social bonding, as well as the overlapping of economic exchanges in every sphere of life. The objective of this research and its analysis of the works of these two authors is to enlighten today’s relevance of covenant and grace in its various aspects: the advent of the subject, the ecclesiological bond, the sacramental life and the participation of Christian Churches in the social life in western modernity.

Full textThe analysis of the role and status occupied by the notion of religious salvation in the works of Durkheim, Weber and Mauss gives us the opportunity to clarify their differences on the development of sociological concepts necessary to understand the religion. The concepts of mana and gift, analysed in depth by Mauss, are essential elements of explanation for thematizing the phenomena of religious salvation. In our thesis, we try to show that these concepts can be used to resolve some difficulties of Durkheim’s sociology in its understanding of the genesis and development of these phenomena. These concepts are also fundamental to reinterpret some of the central subjects of Weber’s sociology of religions

Full textThis study approaches the career and work of René-Yves Creston : this artist, who, in the twenties co-created the group of Seiz Breur. Strongly involved in local cultural life, the group-artists took part in the revival of decorative crafts in Brittany: engraving, painting, earthenware, furniture, so many areas in which they affect the regional aesthetics of the first mid-twentieth century, in the same spirit as Arts and Crafts or Zakopane school or other european movements. Taking part in parisian intellectual life, René-Yves Creston became a leader, without equal organiser so he leaded Seiz Breur to take part in famous international exhibitions. In the thirties, his own interest for the maritim world leads him to take part in 1933 in a trip to Greenland. He then discovered the ethnographic practice. He joins then the ethnological institute and at the end of thirties follows Marcel Mauss’s lessons and fit in “musée de l’Homme” for which he was involved in a mission in Feröe islands. During the world war two, he took part in setting up the “Réseau du musée de l’Homme”. He then follows on his searches about breton ethnography. After the war, Georges Henri Rivière introduced him in thesociety-museums circles. René-Yves Creston leaded to many collections in breton museums and Arts and popular Traditions museum. Deeply involved in the study of brittany, he carries on taking part in european maritim ethnology studies. From the end of 19th century to second part of 20th, this work reads the process of this man, starting as an artist, who becomes an ethnologist using his realism in art as a tool for his study of man

This study has as subjective Feliz Ano Velho (1982), by writer Marcelo Rubens Paiva. Leaving of reflections concerning the memory writing, our intention is to point possible readings of the workmanship in question. The main one of them mentions the judiciary scene to it in the autobiography, in which the author carries through a double company: the inquisition of itself exactly and the military regimen. In this metaphoric court, the motivations of Marcelo would be the guilt for the proper misfortune - the corporal paralysis, after the diving in a lagoon, and the revolt ahead of the disappearance of the father, occurred during the brazilian ditatorial period, in years 1970. Also it is part of our research, the inquiry of the strategies undertaken for the autobiographer, in its search for a satisfactory verdict of its readers⁄ judges. The questioning of the paradigm of the truth and the clarification of a rhetoric of the sincerity serve of basement in this our as objective one.

The gamification consists in the use of game elements and design techniques in real-life contexts. Study is aimed at understanding the benefits that may accrue for both consumers and brands when gamified techniques are used in the development of brand Experiences and brand relationships. This study also explores the main motivations and expectations behind the involvement in gamified experiences from a consumer point of view; as well as the different strategies to stimulate and influence the engagement of Social Networks users in gamified systems, improving customer experience and relationship with the brand. Iniatially a study I was developed. Given the exploratory nature of study I, seven managers and marketing professionals were interviewed through semistructured interviews, and two focus groups were performed with the purpose of collecting primary information on consumers’ perceptions and motivations. The qualitative study was performed in order to provide a basis for the realization of the study II (quantitative study). This consists, initially, in the creation of two scales aimed at measuring the gamification of experiences and the influence of groups and peers in gamification experiences; in a second phase it aims to test and validate the study hypothesis. Results indicate that consumers seek fun, entertainment, competition, constant novelties and primarily personalized experiences in gamified experiences. Hence, Gamification emerges as a marketing tool that help managers in the process of driving valuable brand experiences and relationships with their consumers. Findings suggest that high involvement products and prestige brands are the most appropriate to the implementation of gamified systems. Moreover, the game elements have a key role in boosting adherence to gamification and in generating buzz, particularly in social networks. Further study implications are presented.

One of the factors that contribute the most to the increase in melon production is the cost of fertilizers. Thus, to optimize the doses to be applied aiming at maximum economic productivity, it is necessary to know the nutritional demands of the crop, as well as the required quantities of the nutrients in key phenological phases. The objective of this study was to determine the progression of macro and micronutrients accumulation and the nutritional balance of the melon cultivated under fertirrigation. The experiment was carried out in an area belonging to the Company Ecofértil Agropecuária Ltda located in the city of Aracati (CE). The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design with 9 treatments, corresponding to 9 evaluation periods 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70 days after transplanting (DAT) with four replications. The useful part for the purpose of collection was constituted of 8 plants becoming the four centers of each row. At intervals of seven days, the plants were collected and separated into leaf, stem, fruit and seed for the determination of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, B, Zn and Cu, for The quantification of accumulated totals of these nutrients. At the time of plant collection, a soil sample was collected in each plot to determine the nutrients. According to the results, the accumulation of dry mass in the reproductive parts was higher than in the vegetative parts, the fruits being the organs with the highest accumulation of dry mass. However, the nutrient accumulation progressed in the following order: K> Ca> N> Mg> P> S> Fe> Cu> B> Zn> Mn. The values of the nutritional balance were negative for potassium, nitrogen and copper, being recommended adjustment in fertirrigation in relation to these nutrients.

Full textHis work aims at modeling hydrodynamic dispersion mechanisms in aquifers. So far both flow field heterogeneity and mobile-immobile mass transfer have been studied separately for explaining the ubiquitously observed non-Fickian behaviors, but we postulate that both mechanisms contribute simultaneously. Our investigations combine laboratory experiments and pore scale numerical modeling. The experimental rig was designed to enable push-pull and flow through tracer tests on glass bead columns and Berea sandstone cores. Modeling consists in solving Stokes flow and solute transport on 3D X-ray microtomography images segmented into three phases: solid, void and microporosity. Transport is modeled using time domain random walk. Statistical analysis of the flow field emphasizes the importance of the mesh resolution and the inclusion of the microporosity. Results from the simulations show that both the flow field heterogeneity and the diffusive transport in the microporous fraction of the rock contribute to the overall non-Fickian transport behavior observed, for instance, on the breakthrough curves (BTC). These results are supported by our experiments. We conclude that, in general, this dual control must be taken into account, even if these different influences can hardly be distinguished from a qualitative appraisal of the BTC shape, specifically for the low values of the Peclet number that occurs in natural conditions. Finally, a 1D up-scaled model is developed in the framework of the continuous time random walk, where the influences of the flow field heterogeneity and mobile-immobile mass transfer are both taken into account using distinct transition time distributions

Abstract: This research seeks to demonstrate how a third way of the Brazilian re-catholicizing is being constructed under the leadership of a new face of the Catholic Charismatic Renovation: the Media-Catholicism, whose emblem is the priest Marcelo Rossi¿s phenomenon. The study identifies the cultural changes that leverage the consolidation of the current re-catholicizing process. Also, it identifies the similarities with the Protestant Neo-Pentecostalism and the intra-Catholic Church conflicts ¿the last one created by the re-institutionalization effort inspired and legitimated during John Paul II pontifical period. Besides, it calls the attention to the ¿neo-integrist¿ and ¿exculturated¿ traces that tend to re-design another phase of Catholicism, the one that is being leavened for the last thirty years. The dilemmas and paradoxes that emerged into the historical relation between the Catholic Church and modernity are at the center of this discussion. Particularly, when the Church, in the eager to adapt itself to the signals of the time, resorts to the media culture, making religious use of the mass means of communication. This thesis is divided in three parts: the first one captures the interfaces between the vertiginous rising of the young priest and the culture of consumption; the second, sketches the traces of the media Catholicism and the way in which it configures imageries, subjetivities and religious sociabilities, transmitting them through the radio, television, movies and the Internet ¿analyzing, as well, the social outcomes of those pastoral practices; and the third part takes the reader to the interior dynamics of a millenarian institution, well experienced in the art of managing differences, negotiating hegemonies and maintaining a systemic equilibrium. As a whole, this reflection seeks to call the attention to the importance of a religious phenomenon in the contemporary society

Full textThe prevalence of obesity has increased over the last decades in the developed countries, especially among the lowest social groups. This thesis explores the social and economic consequences of obesity in different areas. In France, obesity reduces employment probability for women, and the hourly wage for both men and women. Moreover, obese people spend more time in leisure activities, but it has no consequence on common leisure time in couples in which both partners are obese. In the United Kingdom, obese people are less satisfied than non obese people, but this effect could be mitigated if the partner is also obese. Lastly, international data show that corpulence norms are not uniform between and within countries. In particular, corpulence norms are more stringent for women. It may explain why the estimated impacts of corpulence are higher for women

The determination of growth rates and accumulation of nutrients is important because they provide information on the nutritional requirement of plants, indicating the times are more conducive to application of nutrients. The use of soil cover has become a widespread practice and has led to an increase in growth and productivity in various vegetables, including the tomato plant. Aiming to evaluate the growth, assimilate partitioning and accumulation of nutrients by tomato 'SM-16'in different soil covers led to an experiment in WG Fruits, Baraúna / RN, between September 2009 and January 2010. The experimental design adopted was a randomized complete block with four replications. Treatments were arranged in split plots with the plots represented by the types of soil cover: bare soil, black polyethylene film, white polyethylene film, polyethylene film and polypropylene gray black (TNT), and sub-plots by the time of samplings of the plants: 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98 and 112 days after transplanting (DAT). The characteristics evaluated were: accumulation of dry mass and the macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium) in leaves, stems, Inflorescences, fruits and total. The soil covers did not affect accumulation of dry mass by tomato plants. The fruits behaved as preferential drain of the plant, reaching the end of the cycle with 48.6% of the total accumulated dry mass. The accumulation of nutrients followed the pattern of the accumulation of dry mass. Only N accumulation in the fruits, accumulation of K in leaves and total, and accumulation of Ca and Mg in fruits were influenced by soil covers. The highest averages for these characteristics were obtained when using the white polyethylene, TNT and uncovered soil. The nutrients more accumulated by plants were, in the order of magnitude: K> N> Ca> Mg> P, being N, P e K found in higher quantities in fruits, and Ca and Mg in leaves.

This PhD thesis concentrates on the mechanisms by which the artistic world in Brussels was reorganized at the end of the 19th century. The research focuses on the places, institutions, publics, art markets and aesthetic developments that characterized the new artistic scene constructed around the “Salon des XX”. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that this artistic circle, led by Octave Maus, produced an art influenced by social, political and economic issues. Another aim has been to analyze the public that defended the artists by studying its social, cultural and generational nature.
This thesis, which is divided into two parts, for the first time explores the circle of the XX in its economic, political and social environment. The diversification of sources and scientific methods was therefore an essential aspect of the research. Different methods were applied such as, for example, the cultural history, the sociology of art, the history of the art market, political sciences and the visual culture.
The first part of this study is about the emergence of a new artistic scene founded around the “Groupe des XX”. The first objective was to investigate the personal and professional path followed by Octave Maus, the manager of the XX, who played a major role in the evolution of the cultural world. Subsequently the research focuses on the mobilization of a particular public and the creation of a new art market around the XX’s exhibitions.
The second part of this thesis considers the works of art created by the artists of the “Groupe des XX” and chosen by the public for private collections. New light is shed on this artistic production by the study of the social and political position of the XX’s public, considered as a social group. Hence the iconographic and stylistic analysis of the works goes together with a study of the XX’s milieu, and in particular with its political action. The present thesis, and the method that aims to study the works in parallel with the public’s social nature, lead to a better understanding of the cultural milieu and, at the same time, of the originality of the XX’s artistic creation.

Full textOne key objective during the rehabilitation of people with lower-limb amputation fitted with a prosthesis is the restoration of a physiological and energy-efficient gait pattern minimizing falling risks due to the loss of balance. Few practical tools are available to provide quantitative data to assist the follow-up of patients in the clinical routine. The development of wearable sensors offers opportunities to quantitatively and objectively describe gait in ecological situations. In this context, the aim of the thesis is to contribute to the development of wearable tools and protocols to support the functional rehabilitation of lower-limb amputees by providing clinically relevant quantitative data. Two complementary approaches have been implemented. The first approach consists in developing biomechanical models of the human body in order to retrieve biomechanically founded parameters. A protocol allowing to accurately estimate the body center of mass acceleration and instantaneous velocity has therefore been proposed based on gait data of ten people with transfemoral amputation and was validated in one person with transfemoral amputation. The second approach consists in identifying patterns in the signals measured by wearable sensors to extract concise descriptors of gait symmetry and dynamic balance. The clinical relevance and reliability of these descriptors have been investigated for the first time in people with lower-limb amputation. The work produced in the course of this thesis has contributed to the clinical transfer of wearable sensors into the clinical practice through the identification of clinically and biomechanically relevant parameters and the validation of original algorithms allowing to quantitatively describe the gait of lower-limb amputees

Full textThis document presents the problems I have been interested in during my PhD thesis. I begin with a concise presentation of the main results, followed by three relatively independent parts. In the first part, I consider statistical inference problems on an i.i.d. sample from an unknown distribution over a countable alphabet. The first chapter is devoted to the concentration properties of the sample's profile and of the missing mass. This is a joint work with Stéphane Boucheron and Mesrob Ohannessian. After obtaining bounds on variances, we establish Bernstein-type concentration inequalities and exhibit a vast domain of sampling distributions for which the variance factor in these inequalities is tight. The second chapter presents a work in progress with Stéphane Boucheron and Elisabeth Gassiat, on the problem of universal adaptive compression over countable alphabets. We give bounds on the minimax redundancy of envelope classes, and construct a quasi-adaptive code on the collection of classes defined by a regularly varying envelope. In the second part, I consider random walks on random graphs with prescribed degrees. I first present a result obtained with Justin Salez, establishing the cutoff phenomenon for non-backtracking random walks. Under certain degree assumptions, we precisely determine the mixing time, the cutoff window, and show that the profile of the distance to equilibrium converges to the Gaussian tail function. Then I consider the problem of comparing the mixing times of the simple and non-backtracking random walks. The third part is devoted to the concentration properties of weighted sampling without replacement and corresponds to a joint work with Yuval Peres and Justin Salez

Full textFalling is a common and concerning health problem for the elderly population. This research work focuses on the characterization of the biomechanical and cognitive strategies involved in the balance maintain and balance recovery that help elderly to avoid a fall. Particularly, we interested in a community-dwelling elderly population, in order to identify the persons who are at risk of fall and suggest a forward preventive intervention. We show, for this population, that usual clinical tests do not well discriminate between “fallers” and “non-fallers” and that the fall problem is more concerned by cognitive and/or sensorial troubles than by muscular troubles that affect biomechanical responses. The most discriminant tests are identified and a risk of fall assessment tool is suggested to give informations about the deficient mechanisms. Finally, we provide informations about the mechanisms involved in protective steps, a prevalent balance strategy which not used in balance clinical assessments

Full textSocial media seem to be a widely studied phenomenon in modern times, there are also a number of predominantly quantifying analyzes of behaviors within netwoks. However, there are no cultural-sociological explanations about the calculi and motives of users, certainly not about the effects of the system specifications of Facebook & Co. In this work, therefore, a first attempt will be made to explore the behavior in social networks, by investigating the behaviors, constraints and calculi in social networking, based on empirically collected data. In the process, the conceptual questions of social action are developed out of the gift exchange concept of Marcel Mauss. First of all, the investigation is based on the users' motives, such as relationships, self-presentation / identity and status. Second, the typical characteristics that result from the action expectations and patterns of action, exposed and based on the exchange elements giving, taking and responding are examined. A third aspect refers to the concrete elements of exchange that circulate within the networks through a mutual exchange and function as gifts. Finally, the effects of various system requirements are also examined, such as the commentary function or the function of 'liking'.:1. Einführung 1.1. Full textThe main purpose of this text is to study the practices, the issues and the modalities of the animal diplomatic gift in the 13th century, especially during the reign of Frederick II, Henry III and Louis IX. The analysis is based on the presentation of the sociological and anthropological conceptualizations of the gift, particularly those of Marcel Mauss. They are used to understand the peculiarities of the animal diplomatic gift in the 13th century. Then, a research on animal descriptions of medieval bestiaries and encyclopedias is conducted to show the symbolic power and the physical and behavioral characteristics of the offered wildlife. Finally, several modalities of the donation are developed, such as the selection criteria and the wildlife preferences of the kings, the context and rules of the elaboration of a present and the movement of given animals. In addition, it is shown how the beasts and birds had a real use for the kings. Indeed, they staged their animals in order to appropriate their symbolism and show off their prestige and their greatness, at events or in the menageries.

A name, term, design, symbol or other feature that identifies one seller’s good or service from those of the other sellers, is the way that American Marketing Association (2007) defines the main construct of this course: the brand. Brands were studied in terms of their presence in the social network Facebook. Facebook was created in February 2004 in the U.S. Harvard University. Since 2006 has become available to everyone who has 13 or more years old and a valid e-mail account. The purpose of this study is to understand the impact that mass marketing brands presence have on this social network. To achieve this purpose a quantitative analysis methodology was used. Two questionnaires were built, one for the consumers and another for the brands. Most of the questions were similar in both questionnaires, since the goal of this study was to understand both consumers and brands sides. Consumer sample comprises 269 respondents and brand sample includes 42 mass marketing brands. Thereby, this dissertation addresses questions, such as consumers and brands’ habits on Facebook, the relationship between both actors in this social network, their interaction level, consumers’ buying behavior towards brands’ pages on Facebook, consumers’ image/associations to brands, the more important features of brand pages for consumers, social networking management and demographics issues. All of the subjects were always treated from both consumers and brands’ points of view. Although the study does not indicate a significant relationship between the brand use of Facebook pages and consumer purchase intention, it seems there is an impact of Facebook presence on brand image. This result is importante concerning sales increase and brand survival in a competitive environment.
