Abstract:

Zahvaljujući dobro odabranoj opremi za procesno upravljanje i pažljivo napravljenim maketama, obuka učenika za rad sa programabilnim logičkim kontrolerima zanimljiva je i učenicima i nastavnicima Elektrotehničke škole «Rade Končar». Za potrebe praktične nastave u laboratoriji za Programabilne logičke kontrolere i automatsko upravljanje, autor je projektovao i napravio više maketa koje omogućavaju bezbedan, funkcionalan i efikasan rad. U ovom radu biće opisana glavna maketa, pomoćne makete računarska oprema i poseban softver koji se koristi. Glavna maketa koja je smeštena u centralnom delu laboratorije, sadrži 6 Simensovih LOGO 8 programabilnih logičkih kontrolera, ekran osetljiv na dodir HMI KTP 400 Basic, GSM komunikacioni modem CMR 2020, ethernet switch SCALANCE-X005 i ulazno-izlazne uređaje i priključke. Na ulazno izlazne priključke na glavnoj maketi priključuju se dodatne makete: maketa lifta sa dve stanice, maketa semafora sa dva i tri signalna svetla, maketa postrojenja za snabdevanje vodom sa tri elektro ventila i druge. Svih 6 PLC-ova su bežičnim putem povezani sa 6 lap top računara. Za programiranje PLC-a koristi se program Logo Soft Comfort ver. 8. Pre izrade programa učenici odabiraju posebnu maketu za koju će napraviti program i povezuju maketu sa PLC-om. Nakon provere ispravnosti rada programa na svom računaru, učenici prebacuju program u PLC a zatim puštaju maketu u rad i nadziru njen rad. Posebnu prednost i pomoć u radu omogućava specijalno urađeni softver koji omogućava nastavniku da sa samo jednom naredbom prikupi sve učeničke programe i prebaci ih na svoj računar, mobilni telefon ili neki drugi prenosni medij. Na isti način, nastavnik može da vrati učenicima pregledane radove ili da svakom učeniku da posebno pripremljeni zadatak.

Abstract:

In 2008, a large African baobab (Adansonia digitata L.) from Makulu Makete, South Africa, split vertically into 2 sections, revealing a large enclosed cavity. Several wood samples collected from the cavity were processed and radiocarbon dated by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) for determining the age and growth rate dynamics of the tree. The 14C date of the oldest sample was found to be of 1016 ± 22 BP, which corresponds to a calibrated age of 1000 ± 15 yr. Thus, the Makulu Makete tree, which eventually collapsed to the ground and died, becomes the second oldest African baobab dated accurately to at least 1000 yr. The conventional growth rate of the trunk, estimated by the radial increase, declined gradually over its life cycle. However, the growth rate expressed more adequately by the cross-sectional area increase and by the volume increase accelerated up to the age of 650 yr and remained almost constant over the past 450 yr.

Abstract:

This article examines the works of the enlighteners, innovator, and agitators in Bashkir literature of the early XX century. The author analyzes the motifs, images and ideological-thematic aspects of poets in the genres maktub and hitap. It is determined that in form of appeals, they raise the problems of freedom, enlightenment, suppression of people, protest of war, etc. Literary examples of poetic works that reflect the motifs of that time are subjected to analysis. Agitational, manifestational, publicistic, and revolutionary ideas are revealed in the images of war, since the agitators called people to seek freedom and development. Namely the genres maktub and hitap contributed to explication of thoughts, desires and aspirations of the innovators of the early XX century. The struggle for freedom, equality, and education intertwined with the ideas of revolution and enlightenment. Some poets claimed that namely illiteracy and unprofessionalism of the people impede social development. Therefore, the appeals played a crucial role in works of the poets, which were filled with humanistic spirit, strive for perfection and ideals. The scientific novelty consists in detailed examination of the genres maktup and hitap in the works of Bashkir writers of the early XX century, as well as consideration of modern approaches towards assessment of aesthetic aspect of these genres. It is concluded that the genres maktub and hitap possess a quality to manifest an opinion or stance on various problems and situations of that time. They are fused with deep and tense thoughts and feelings that can form the worldview and experiences of the poet-citizen, poet-fighter, who have active approach to life and their time.

Abstract:

Abstract Testa color in the cultivated peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important genetic characteristic. Presently, three genes (R1, R2, and R3) are known to be involved in the expression of red testa color. Reciprocal crosses between the dominant (R1 R1) Tennessee Red and recessive (r2 r2) Makulu Red cultivars and test crosses between Makulu Red and two recessive red genotypes (r3 r3) were made to determine the interaction among these three loci. The F1, F2, and F3 results suggest that the red testa color of Tennessee Red differs from that of Makulu Red by two loci and that Makulu Red does not differ from the other recessive red genotypes. Also, the R1 gene appears to be inherited independently from at least one of the recessive alleles controlling red peanut testa color.

Abstract:

Makuea poo-ung is a highly nutritious fruity vegetable. The main objective of this study was to compare the nutritional contents of fresh and dried makuea poo-ung, then compare to nutrients presents in general eggplants. Makuea poo-ung was pre-treated before reagents and chemicals were used to identify the specific nutrients present, whilst independent T-Test was used to analyse the significant differences. Results revealed that fresh and dried makuea poo-ung contained the six food nutrients. However, comparison between fresh makuea poo-ung and general nutrients in eggplants revealed very substantial diversions. Apart from Vitamin A which fell within the range of eggplants reviewed, most nutrients present in makuea poo-ung compared to eggplants were either less or more than the range reviewed. Conclusively, fresh and dried makuea poo-ung are nutritious to consume and serve as food supplements. It is recommended that commercial/traditional caterers and home makers should patronize makuea poo-ung.

Abstract:

We investigated the effects of rainfall on the distribution and abundance of the satyrine butterfly Ragadia makuta in selectively logged and unlogged forest on Borneo. In 1997-98, there was a severe El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) drought, and annual surveys over a 4-y period showed that abundance of R. makuta was greatly reduced during the drought, but that populations quickly recovered after it. Monthly surveys over a 12-mo period of typical rainfall showed that high rainfall in the month preceding surveys significantly reduced butterfly abundance. Butterfly abundance and distribution did not differ between selectively logged and unlogged areas in either monthly or annual surveys and there was no difference between selectively logged and unlogged areas in the pattern of post-drought recovery. These results indicate that the abundance of R. makuta was significantly reduced both after high rainfall and during severe drought, but that these impacts were short-lived and were not affected by habitat disturbance. ENSO droughts on Borneo naturally often lead to widespread forest fires and thus impacts of ENSO events for butterflies are more likely to be due to indirect effects of habitat loss, rather than direct effects of drought on butterfly population dynamics.

Abstract:

“The River Between” is more concerned with the Africans’ exploitations by the Whites and the adverse colonization impact on Kenya’s culture. However, this cultural clash brought about by the traditional and colonial interests’ interactions is well illustrated in the novel. The novel “The River Between” by Ngugi Wa Thiong’o is based on the theme of conflict. This article, therefore, demonstrates the sources of conflict and it portrays how the conflict between the Makuyu and the Kameno communities. The article begins with the story of river Honia as a source of conflict between the two communities. The river created a rivalry between the Makuyu people who believed in Christianity whereas the Kameno community believed in traditional gods Gikuyu and Mumbi. Moving on, the article gives conflicts in the novel “The River Between”. One of the conflicts is between an individual Waiyaki and the community. Waiyaki failed to consult the community elders before building up schools for them thereby establishing a conflict. Besides that, the article is also showing out the significance of the novel in the benefit of our societies.

Abstract A better understanding of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) testa color genetics would be helpful to breeders in developing new cultivars to meet U.S. market acceptability. Wine is one of the least understood of all basic testa colors in peanut. The objective of this genetic study was to gain further knowledge on the inheritance of wine testa color and possible allelic interactions. Crosses were made using two true-breeding wine testa color genotypes (Wine-Frr and PI 264549) as females with the tan testa and recessive red testa male parents Krinkle-Leaf and Makulu Red, respectively. F1, F2, and F3 data suggest no difference between the two wine testa color genotypes. Inheritance of wine testa color was found to be recessive with a one gene difference between wine and the tan testa color of Krinkle-Leaf, and with two gene differences between wine and the recessive red testa color of Makulu Red. Inheritance of wine seems to closely parallel that for recessive red testa color in the cultivated peanut.

Abstract:

In The New Biography, Virginia Woolf notes that there is a paradox inherent to the genre of biography, i. e. that of »truth« and »personality«. »[P]ersonality«, she argues further, can only be truly conveyed through aesthetic selection and manipulation of the facts of a life, through fiction. Animal biography challenges both of these categories: what is a true dog character and how close can an author come to a life-like depiction of it? Virginia Woolf’s Flush: A Biography (1933) as well as the earliest English example of animal biography, Francis Coventry’s The History of Pompey the Little or The Life and Adventures of a Lap Dog (1751), are, in their own way, concerned with this issue. Influenced by their generic predecessors, the texts explore the narratological possibilities which an animal biography can offer, from satirical purposes to aesthetic objectives, from mere functionalisation to sentient animals. Woolf is essentially affected by contemporary discussions of biography and the challenges imposed by creating a dog »personality«. This is fundamental for the depiction of Flush as having an individual (anthropomorphised) character, rather than being depicted as a mere, and changeable type. Pompey the Little, in contrast, serves as a mostly silent and apparently objective observer of society, who, by watching and imitating his masters’ manners, offers eighteenth-century society a ruthlessly unembellished look into the mirror. Consequently, his animal character is, for satirical purposes, reduced to a mere type rather than a complex, not to mention »truth[ful]«, depiction of a nonhuman character. In this paper, we argue that genre expectations interact with two further aspects, i.e. literary history and historical as well as philosophical developments, and all three decisively influence how the two texts understand and relate human as well as non-human experience.

Abstract:

Makoto (まこと, lit.: truth, genuineness, reality, “realness”) is an element of the conceptual apparatus of the traditional worldview of the Japanese. In Japan, it is generally accepted that makoto is a philosophical and aesthetic concept that underlies Japanese spirituality, involving among other principles understanding of the order and laws of the truly existing Universum (shinrabansho̅; 森羅万象) and the universal interconnectedness of things (bambutsu ittai; 万物一体), the desire to understand the true essence of everything that person meets in life, and, unlike other spiritual values, is purely Shinto in origin. After getting acquainted with the Chinese hieroglyphic writing three Chinese characters were borrowed for the word makoto. Each of these characters means truthfulness, genuineness, but has its own distinctive nuances: 真 means truth, authenticity, truthfulness, 実 signifies truth, reality, essence, content, and 誠 again means truthfulness, sincerity, and truth. Makoto (“true words”) and makoto (“true deeds”) imply the highest degree of sincerity of words and honesty, correctness of thoughts, actions, and deeds. The relationship “true words — true deeds” can be seen as one of the driving factors of moral obligation, prompting everyone in their field, as well as in relations between people, to strive to be real. This desire contributed to the formation of a heightened sense of duty and responsibility among the Japanese, which became a hallmark of their character. However, makoto has not only ethical connotation, but aesthetic one as well, and can be considered as the basis on which were formed the concept of mono no aware (もののあわれ、物の哀れ) and the aesthetic ideal of the same name, that became the first link in the chain of japanese perceptions of beauty. Each link in this chain is an expression of a new facet of makoto, which was revealed as a result of certain elements of the worldview that came to the fore in the historical era.

Abstract:

The vector magnetograph of the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory (Makita et al. 1985a,c) is equipped on the 65cm solar coude telescope with the 10m Littrow spectrograph. Results of observations are vector magnetograms, velocitygrams, maps of the broadband polarizations, maps of the magnetic lines of force, and maps of the electric currents. Their examples are given in figure 1. The data books, which give the vector magnetograms, have been published every year since 1983.Calibrations of the polarization degree and the overall accuracy were discussed (Makita et al. 1982, 1987; Makita and Li 1992). The accuracy of the polarization measurement is 10−3for the line observation and 10−4 for the continuum observation. Conversion of the polarization degrees to the magnetic field vector has been tried by Sakurai (1987) with the use of the weak field theory and the observed magnetic field strength of sunspots. A simultaneous observation of the same active region was once made with the Sayan Observatory (Makita et al. 1985b). Distributions of the magnetic polarity were quite similar and azimuths of the magnetic field agreed very well.

Abstract:

Accessions of wild Avena spp. obtained from the Iberian Peninsula were screened for resistance to oat crown and oat stem rust. Of a number of accessions which showed resistance, A. sterilis accession IB3056 was selected for further genetic analysis because it had combined resistance to both crown and stem rusts and as a hexaploid was readily hybridizable with A. sativa. IB3056 was crossed and backcrossed with the susceptible cultivar 'Makuru' and progeny were analyzed for segregation to a range of rust races. A single dominant gene conferred resistance to crown rust. The resistance was highly effective against all isolates of Puccinia coronata avenae tested. The crown rust resistance of IB3056 was due either to gene Pc68 or was very closely linked or allelic to Pc68. Seedling plants of the IB3056 parent were susceptible to all isolates of P. graminis avenae tested, but in the adult plant stage they were resistant. All IB3056/2* Makuru progeny also were susceptible to stem rust as seedlings, but BC1F2 adult plants segregated for resistance in ratios indicating a single dominant gene, designated Pg17.Key words: oat crown rust, oat stem rust, adult plant resistance, seedling resistance

Abstract:

Tema master završnog rada je da na kritički način kroz autorski projekat i primere iz prakse ispita i osvesti koliko je značajan odnosno efikasan proces pronalaska, provere i prezentacije ideja putem izrade radnih maketa. Takođe i mogućnosti šire primene radnih i finalnih maketa kao sredstva za postizanje određenih ciljeva, rešavanja ili prezentovanja određenih problema u domenu arhitektonsko-urbanističke struke.

Abstract:

Euroopan Unionissa on esitetty tuottajien vastuun lisäämistä vakavimpien eläintautien vahinkojen rahoituksessa. Toteutuskeinoina on mainittu muun muassa eläintautirahastomaksu tai -vakuutus. Tähän asti yhteiskunta on kantanut vastuun yhteiskunnallisesti merkittävimpien eläintautien välittömistä menetyksistä. Tilanne on hyödyttänyt riskinottoon halukkaita toimijoita. Esimerkiksi vuosina 1995–2004 EU:n eläintautirahasto maksoi vahingonkorvauksia yhteensä miljardi euroa, josta Iso-Britannian ja Alankomaiden osuus oli 85 % (mm. suu- ja sorkkatauti, klassinen sikarutto ja korkeapatogeeninen lintuinfluenssa). Kymmenkunta vähiten korvauksia saanutta maata sai yhteensä 2 % korvauksista. Tautien ennaltaehkäisyyn ei varoja juuri ole ollut käytettävissä. Pienellä todennäköisyydellä esiintyviin ja suurta vahinkoa aiheuttaviin tapahtumiin varaudutaan usein puutteellisesti. Tämä aiheuttaa tehottomuutta, koska ennaltaehkäisy on kustannustehokas tapa hallita monia tautiriskejä. Tuottajien vastuun lisäämisen tarkoituksena ei ole pelkästään vahinkojen rahoittaminen, vaan sillä tuetaan myös ennaltaehkäisevää riskinhallintaa. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan keinoja, joilla ulkoisvaikutukset huomioon ottava ja ennaltaehkäisyyn kannustava rahoitusjärjestelmä voitaisiin toteuttaa. Tarkastelemme riskiperusteista rahoitusta, jossa rahoitusjärjestelmän ominaisuudet määritetään siten, että ne palkitsevat bioturvallisuutta lisäävistä ja rankaisevat sitä heikentävistä toimenpiteistä tai ominaisuuksista. Tarkasteluun liittyy kaksi teemaa: 1) kenen pitäisi osallistua rahoitukseen ja tulisiko osallistumisen olla vapaaehtoista vai pakollista; ja 2) miten maksut voidaan asettaa riskiperusteisesti. Järjestelmän rahoitukseen tulisi osallistua niiden, jotka aiheuttavat ulkoisvaikutuksia muille. Esimerkiksi kysymys harrastetilojen osallistumisesta liittyy siihen, aiheuttavatko ne riskin muille tiloille. Ammattimaisten tuottajien osallistuminen tulisi olla mahdollisimman laajapohjaista. Laaja osallistuminen voidaan toteuttaa joko lainsäädännöllisesti tai riittävän voimakkailla taloudellisilla kannustimilla. Maksut voivat perustua joko alueelliseen tai tilakohtaiseen riskiin. Jotta voidaan välttää vain suuren riskin tilojen osallistuminen järjestelmään (ns. haitallinen valikoituminen), tulee kullekin tilalle tai tilatyypille asettaa sen riskitasoa vastaava ja muut vaihtoehdot kyseiselle tilatyypille kannattamattomaksi tekevä maksu. Järjestelmä tulee suunnitella niin, että esimerkiksi suuren riskin tilat valitsevat juuri heille suunnitellun vaihtoehdon. Moraalikatoa eli vakuutetun toimintatapojen muuttamista riskialttiimmiksi vakuutuksen ottamisen jälkeen voidaan ehkäistä riskiin perustuvilla maksuilla. Palkkioita (bonuksia) voidaan myöntää esimerkiksi taudin esiintymättömyydestä tai varmennetuista ennaltaehkäisyyn tähtäävistä toimista. Korotettuja maksuja ja pienennettyjä korvauksia sen sijaan voidaan langettaa esimerkiksi myöhäisestä taudin ilmoittamisesta. Myös omavastuuosuus ehkäisee moraalikatoa.

Abstract:

Salah satu kompetensi manajerial pengelola pendidikan luar sekolah kelompok belajar paket A, B dan C yang ditetapkan oleh departemen pendidikan nasional. Kompetensi itu adalah mengorganisasikan penyelenggaraan Pendidikan Kesetaraan dalam hal mengatur pelaksanaan program yang mencakup sistem informasi. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat saat ini adalah mendukung tercapainya kompetensi manajerial PKBM (Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat) dalam bentuk penerapan sistem informasi pembayaran iuran berbasis komputer. Metode kegiatan terbagi dalam tiga tahap, yaitu ; (1) observasi/wawancara pendahuluan dan pengembangan sistem (2) penerapan aplikasi dan pelatihan pengoperasian (3) evaluasi dan monitoring. Setelah melalui tiga tahap kegiatan tersebut akhirnya dihasilkan satu produk dalam bentuk aplikasi berbasis komputer yang diberi nama Makbuku. Aplikasi Makbuku dikembangkan secara khusus untuk memenuhi kebutuhan PKBM Zamzam sehingga lembaga bisa mengelola data pembayaran iuran siswa dalam satu aplikasi. Keberadaan Aplikasi Makbuku diharapkan mampu memperkuat manajerial PKBM Zamzam secara khusus dan meningkatkan kualitas komunitas belajar yang diinisiasi masyarakat secara umum. Kata kunci : komunitas belajar; PKBM; sistem informasi; aplikasi ABSTRACT One of the managerial competencies of the non formal education manager A, B and C learning group package was established by the national education department. That competencies was to organize the implementation of Equality Education in terms of regulating the implementation of programs that include information systems. The aim of the community service activities at this time is to support the achievement of managerial competence of PKBM (Community Learning Activity Centers) in the application of information systems on student tuition payment with computer-based. The activity method is divided into three stages, namely; (1) preliminary observation / interview and system development (2) applicate of applications and operational training (3) evaluation and monitoring. After going through the three stages of the activity, one product was finally produced in a computer-based application called Makbuku. The Makbuku application was developed specifically to meet the needs of Zamzam PKBM so that the institution can manage student tuition payment data in one application. The existence of the Makbuku Application is expected to be able to strengthen the managerial PKBM Zamzam specifically and improve quality of the learning community initiated by the public.

Abstract:

Grain storage plays a crucial role in ensuring food security to Thai farmers so sustainable protection methods against deleterious microorganisms, such as fungi, are necessary. Essential oils (EOs) have demonstrated broad-spectrum fumigant antifungal activity against most storage fungi that are problematic in Thailand. Four storage fungi (Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Curvularia lunata and Fusarium proliferatum) were isolated from dried rice and corn grains (stored for at least six months). EOs were extracted by hydrodistillation from clove buds (Syzygium aromaticum), fruit peel and leaves of makrut lime (Citrus hystrix), eucalyptus leaves (Eucalyptus sp.) and lemongrass stems (Cymbopogon citratus). The fungi inoculated on PDA in plastic cups were exposed to each EO vapour originating from paper disc attached in the lids in an inverted position. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for each EO was determined. Selected MICs were combined in a binary manner and similarly tested against the fungi. Fractional inhibitory concentration indices (FICI) were determined for each combination. Lemongrass and makrut lime leaf EOs were the most effective with MICs of 0.09 µL/mL against Curvularia lunata and 0.19-0.28 µL/mL against A. flavus, A. niger and F. proliferatum. Eucalyptus oil produced the least effective vapour (MIC 0.56-0.74 µL/mL) against all tested pathogens. A combination of lemongrass and makrut lime leaf EOs was partially synergistic against A. niger (FICI=0.75) but was fully synergistic against the other three fungi tested (FICI=0.5). The EOs from lemongrass and makrut lime leaf have potential to suppress the growth of the four grain-storage fungi tested.
