Full textBecause of the various steps of the process, cognacs reveal highly distinctive organoleptic properties. Nevertheless, over the past decades, the tasting committee has noticed a slight trend towards standardisation of eaux-de-vie. The reasons for this evolution are most certainly multifactorial. The Maison Hennessy wants to understand the transformations occurring during the process of elaboration of Cognac, and particularly during the aging process which is a critical stage regarding the final quality of the product. In particular, the development of construction techniques and the size of the cellars is likely to influence the quality of the “eaux-de-vie”. In this study we built a toolbox modelling a Cognac cellar and its evolution over time. The model was developed to link multiple variables both computational and based on experimental data. On the experimental side, a laboratory was built in order to control the climatic conditions and the characteristics of the barrels. The experiments highlighted that the physico-chemical behaviour is linked to the temperature and the dimensions of casks. These lab-scale observations were further validated in an industrial scale pilot setting. The qualitative validation of the climatic conditions inside the cellar on the quality of the eaux-de-vie is performed by the testing committee. On the computational side, modelling was conducted first to estimate the mass transfers at the stave scale and then to simulate the heat transfers at the barrel or cellar scales. The convective effects appeared highly influential on the thermal dynamic of the liquid and the air in the building. The experimental data enabled the validation of the modelling tools at different scales

Full textThe big bang caused by the meeting of human life and law has led to the creation of several legal prescriptions that have human life as their object. Despite their heterogeneous nature, it is possible to outline a common structure, enabling stability and unity in the relationship between human life and law. The law of human life is the structuring concept of this relationship. Mustered as a new key to reading their relationship, the law of human life should make it possible to identify all the dynamics that make them oscillate.Precisely, the law of human life is subject to opposing currents. A first trend uses the law as an instrument to increase the respect for life. A second liberal current tends to solicit the exercise of control over life, reflecting the movement towards the subjectivisation of fundamental rights and freedoms, to which the valorisation of personal autonomy provides fertile ground. The law of human life thus has a dual nature, the right to respect for life forging its objective nature, the right over life revealing its subjective nature. These two rights are seemingly antagonistic. However, taking into account the degree of subjectivisation of the law of human life allows us to qualify the influence of this phenomenon on it. The State, charged with the task of striking a balance between these two poles, sets itself up as the guardian of respect for life, with the deployment of the regime of control over life being controlled or even curbed. The balance of power within the law of human life turns out to be disproportionate to the right to respect for life. The duplication of the law of human life allows the right to respect for life and the right over life to coexist without causing their mutual neutralisation

Full textIn this PhD thesis we propose a fair tarification model for a mixed life-insurance contract, that is to say for a contract ensuring both the case of life and the case of death. We deal with an incomplete market and a stochastic mortality. We also adress the case of several contracts, optimizing the investments portfolio and majorizing the ruin probability for a portfolio of insured. In the non-life reinsurance setting, two reserve evaluation methods are elaborated. In the first one we use a model without any risk exposure measurement, which is unknown in practice. In the second one, we use Bayesian hierachical models based on stochastic differential equations in random media. For both life-insurance and non-life reinsurance, the results are illustrated by simulations. Some of them are based on real data

Full textKeiji Nishitani, philosopher of the Kyoto School, developed his philosophy of religion, studying the German sermons of Meister Eckhart, in the light of the notion of “absolute nothingness” of Kitarô Nishida. He applies that notion to the “Godhead” (Gotheit) outlined in Eckhart’s preaching, where he discovers the idea of awakening to the elemental subjectivity in human soul. This awakening opens up to the soul a liberty “in Godwithout God”, accessible to the religious intelligence detached from all dualism. In this perspective, how can we integrate the metaphysics exposed by Eckhart in his Latin works ? In the Commentary on the Gospel of John, Eckhart explains his vision of God, Being-One, “Principle without principle”, and he teaches to “live” the unity between “being” and “knowing”, of which the beatitude consists. Our study revolves around the thinking on “live the life”. We try to unify the detachment in the “nothingness of the Godhead” according to Nishitani and the “unlimited Being” according to the biblical commentary, so as to show the Eckhartian thought as a synergy between metaphysic speculation and existential practice to experience the Transcendent in our immanent life

Full textSince the end of the 1990's, the Maison Hennessy, thanks to the expertise of its Tasting Committee, has noticed a decrease in the proportion of eaux-de-vies with high qualitative potential. Thus, with the help of a CIFRE thesis led in cooperation with UMR GENIAL, it has been decided to develop means of characterisation of eaux-de-vie and identify factors within the distillation process that will enable the production of more quality-oriented new eaux-de-vie.These works have been structured around the following themes: (i) research of key volatile compounds through olfactometry, (ii) development of a descriptive and quantitative sensory method, (iii) setting up an experimental distillation tool as well as the implementation of structured trials in the shape of designs of experiments, and finally (iv) behavioural study of volatile compounds during batch distillation.(i) The fast GC-Olfactometry method enabled us to identify 7 volatile compounds probably involved in the discrimination of the qualitative potential: acetaldehyde, ethyl caproate, hexyl acetate, 3-methylpentanol, 3-ethoxy-1-propanol, acetic acid, isobutanoic acid.(ii) The development of a QDA-type sensory method led to the elaboration of a list of 19 sensory descriptors representative of eaux-de-vie with strong potential as well as the creation of 22 aromatic references for panel training. The control of performances highlighted the necessity to pursue further the training in order to benefit from a reliable panel according to AFNOR.(iii) The set-up of a dedicated room equipped with pilot pot-stills, associated with the development of an experimental distillation methodology and the use of designs of experiments, enabled to study the effect of 5 distillation factors upon the quality of new eaux-de-vie. The results foreshadow a positive influence of a taller swan's neck and an absence of recycling of tails.(iv) Finally, the behavioural study of volatile compounds during distillation validated a classification previously established in literature and has highlighted the possibility to use a commercial simulation software to describe their behaviour

Full textTimes studies agree on the fact that our society is currently undergoing changes in terms of pace of life, but debates arise as to the uniformity of such changes within the population and individuals’ scope of action in the face of said phenomena. Given that society as a whole mastered time and space through the rise of transport speed, one is tempted to assume that it is also the case on the individual level. However, few empirical studies have taken it upon themselves to analyze the impact of speed in daily mobility on individuals’ pace of life. Using a combination of statistical analysis and in-depth interviews, this thesis aims at providing supplementary insight into the topic by analyzing transport modes and mobility patterns of inhabitants of the Greater Paris region. Through this micro-social analysis, we show that the more out-of-home activities people do, the lower their average speed in the course of a day is, whilst the average distance to a destination also decreases. This can be explained by the way they choose their destinations. For activities which are meaningful to them, they maximize the utility of their destination by using fast transport modes. For ancillary activities, they minimize travel time by locating them in the direct vicinity of their high-value activities, which prompts the use of slower modes. Finally, we show that the combination of these two rationales is easier in the center than in the suburbs, thus facilitating a high pace of life and more improvised schedules in the former. Hence, more than access to speed, it is residential location which induces disparities between people in their ability to deal with time demands
Cherifi, Soraya.
Conclusion :

Full textThe attention of the international community, initially focussed more narrowly on the risks associated with oil spills, progressively has evolved to include the broader array of damages that can impact the marine environment. These have grown both in variety and gravity. As a result, the need to protect the environment has become one of the very “fundamental values” of international maritime law, and has ushered in a broadly-based way of apprehending the environmental impact risk that can be caused by a ship during its lifespan. This approach has proved to be quite complex from the outset. Ships operate within maritime zones that are subject to different jurisdictions. Moreover, international shipping has its own two-dimensional specificity, which is both geographical and strategic in nature. The international community generally agrees to adopt rules by which all stakeholders consciously agree to respect the obligation to protect the environment as well as safeguard the commercial interest of international shipping. The research seeks to analyse the processes through which the law acts in order to reconcile goals which, though inherently complementary, can transpire to be conflicting when faced with the need to protect the environment. The results of the analysis identify the dynamics driving the main actors and assess the regime of marine legal environmental protection from ship activity

Full textThe sealing of gas turbine static parts is usually performed using piston rings.Because of its high stiffness, this type of gasket does not adapt itself to the parts with which it isdue to be in contact. A method involving metrology and a FEM actually revealed that the ringboreor ring-piston contact aperture is far larger than the one within a rough contact. Using ascale analysis, we showed that gas flow mechanisms, through the aperture field of the contactbetween the ring and the inner or outer part (i.e. the piston or the bore), depend on twodimensionless numbers. Three regimes can be distinguished depending on the values of thesenumbers. One of them, the compressible inertial laminar regime, is of particular interestbecause of its relevance in turbine areas where sealing is strongly critical. A quasi analyticalmodel was developed to describe this regime. By a coupling with a strain model, it wasupgraded to a predictive tool of leakage through a piston-ring or bore-ring contact. Acomparison with measurements carried out on a partial test rig allowed to prove its accuracy. This tool made it possible to quantify the influence of temperature field, pressure field andgeometrical defects, which are typical of a turbine stator, on sealing performance. This worklead us to propose design rules concerning, in particular, the ring gap type, number of rings tobe mounted and choice of tightening direction

Full textIn Africa and particularly in the zone CIMA, the classic life insurance represents less than one third of the turnover of the insurance, while as comparison, it represents more than two thirds of the turnover of the insurance in France. One of the numerous reasons of the low development of the life insurance in the space CIMA is that the populations do not enough trust in the mechanism of the insurance and especially to the insurers whom they consider as swindlers. We considered that a real legal protection of the consumers of life insurance could modestly contribute to develop this activity in these countries where the non-existence of real systems of social protection made way for a shape of informal solidarity which would a lot win to be better organized. While trying to know how are protected the consumers of life insurance in the space CIMA, we noticed that the States intervene before the subscription of the contract and even before the meeting of the parts to the contract. The occupations of insurer and intermediary of insurance are organized and checked as well at the level of their access as of their exercise, in the interest of the insurants, the subscribers and the beneficiaries of insurance contracts on the life. Ratios and standards of managements are imposed to make sure that the insurer will be always able to fill his commitments towards the subscriber and the beneficiary. In the purely contractual relation, the State also intervenes to take care that the contractual clauses are not abusive for the subscriber, and also to impose contractual and precontractual obligations to the professionals of the insurance that are the insurer and the intermediaries of insurances. It appeared to us that the insurer, in spite of his quality of partner orcocontracting party is the main person from whom the consumers of life insurance must be protected. But the danger which can also come moreover, the consumers of life insurance would also be protected against the interventions of other certain people who, contrary to the insurer, are third parties to the insurance contract. It is in particular about creditors of the subscriber, as well as about his descendants and even sometimes about his spouse. To guarantee this protection, the capital of insurance was made imperceptible, even if, as we noticed it, that protection is more and more damaged, in particular within the framework of the fight against the organized crime and the fiscal crime

Full textNutrition is one of the main factors contributing to various diseases occurrence or prevention. Among the three major types of nutrients, dietary lipids are essential in this nutrition-health relationship since lipid disorder is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Thus, the importance of a healthy diet explains the development of functional foods with improved nutritional properties. Furthermore, with environmental impact of food production being a growing concern for consumers, selection of raw materials and processes should meet the requirements for sustainable development. In this context, this work concerns the improvement of the nutritional properties of a vegetable oil spread by reducing its unhealthy fatty acids (FA) content, but also the limitation of its environmental impact by minimizing the use of palm oil products. An enzymatic interesterification process has been developed to adapt rheological properties without modifying FA profile nor using solvents and chemical products by action of a biocatalyst (lipase). This work led to the pilot-scale development of an enzymatically interesterified substitute allowing to reduce the unhealthy FA content by 65%, and the use of palm oil products by 70% while keeping a functionality similar to the current product. At the same time, an enzymatic approach has also been used in the investigation of a new method for regiodistribution analysis. Thus, Rhizopus oryzae lipase appeared to be a good candidate for the sn-2 position analysis of triacylglycerols containing medium chain fatty acids

Full textIntensive care units (ICU) are a niche for risk factors of infection due to multidrug resistant bacteria. ICU patients are in a need for a rapid and adequate antibiotic therapy. This leads ICU physicians to use empirical broad spectrum antibiotics. This thesis comprises four studies which focus on the empirical step of the treatment. In the first study, the criteria for "health-care-associated pneumonia" are discussed. The second shows that the antibiotic selection pressure administered early during the ICU stay could lead to Pseudomonas aeruginosa acquisition. In the third study, a rapid direct specimen testing method was assessed for ventilator-associated pneumonia diagnosis in order to hasten antibiotic de-escalation. Finally, a review on aminoglycosides’ nephrotoxicity in the severe sepsis setting represents the fourth study. These studies bring a loop forward into the understanding of the antibiotic stewardship of patients with severe sepsis, with particular focus on the empirical antibiotic treatment

Full textIn the first part, we show how the theory of self-organization as applied to the evolution of species is conceptualized around two terms of this evolution, that is on genetic mutations confronted, in their phenotype effects, an environment, which when changing, disturbs organisms. These latter survive by increasing complexity in so far as they can integrate by adaptive transformations the characteristics of the new environment into their organization. In its second part, - marked by a second integration linked to the latter, but here ontogenetic and no longer phylogenetic - the elements of our thesis deal with the final units of organization identified by biology, which include birth of a representative psyche: the penultimate level, that of certain birds and mammals, which comprises a behavior memory (limb brain and cortical branches) intervening between "pre-connections" (phylogenetic) or basic needs (mainly hypothalamus) and behavior. The last level, with a new memory specific to human beings (Broca and Wernicke areas, and cortical branches), is characterized by an explosion of concepts as well as pseudo-concepts (phantasms, images, complexes). By reintroducing these "pseudo-concepts" into the "normal" psyche, we differ from the neuro-sciences (Changeux, Edelman). Another proposal is based on the emotional and relational "pre-connections" highlighted at the "colloque sur l'attachement", and on the conditioning which alters and represses the programmed attachment. Our hypothesis deals with the possibility of releasing, though psycho-analysis, these emotional "pre-connections" which were recognized by all the participants of the colloque (psychologists, psycho-analysts, psychiatrists), a process defined by of them as "rediscovering the reactions specific to man". Finally, we suggest introducing the following terminological modification in the conception of the "psyche selforganisation" and reserving this label for the "psychical work-out" (a psycho-analytical notion), an integrating process instead of using it for the whole comprised of the latter and the automatic and unconscious defenses

Full textWe focus in this thesis on issues related to COTS multi-core processors mastering, especially regarding hard real-time constraints, in order to enable their usage in future avionics equipment. We aim at applying existing Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) evaluation methods on a set of tasks similar to those we can find in avionics software. At runtime, tasks executed among different cores are likely to access hardware resources at the same time, e.g. the main memory. It may lead to additional delays due to hardware contention, called “interferences”. Interferences slow down embedded software within ranges that may be important. Additionnally, no bound has been established for their impact on WCET when using COTS processors, that target larger markets than avionics. We try to provide guarantees that all interferences are eliminated through software, as COTS processors do not provide adequate mechanisms at hardware level. We extend deterministic software concepts that have been developed in the state of the art, in order to make them compliant with the use of legacy software. We introduce the concept of "control software", which is functionnaly neutral, is replicated among all cores, and performs active control of core's accesses to shared resources, so that concurrent accesses are temporally isolated. We formalize and study in this thesis the problem of control software feasibility on COTS processors, and questions of efficiency with regard to legacy avionics software

Full textIn the field of cloud computing, IaaS provide virtualized on-demand computing resources on a pay-per-use model. From the user point of view, the cloud provides an inexhaustible supply of resources, which can be dynamically claimed and released. IaaS is especially useful to execute scientific computations using operating budget instead of using a big initial investment. Provisioning the resources depending on the workload is an important challenge, especially regarding the big number of jobs and resoruces to take into account, but also the large amount of available platforms and economic model. We advocate the need for brokers on the client-side with two main capabilities: (1) automate the provisioning depending on the strategy selected by the user and (2) able to simulate an execution in order to provide the user with an estimation of the costs and times of his workload's execution. Many provisioning strategies and cloud providers can be used in this broker thanks to its open architecture. Large scale experiments have been conducted on many cloud platforms and show our tool's ability to execute different kind of workloads on various platforms and to simulate these executions with high accuracy

Full textAutomotive chassis are composed mostly of welded parts subjected to complex multiaxial loadings.Welds are potential sites to initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks because of their particular geometry andtransformations induced by manufacturing process. A reliable and tractable fatigue design methodology is achallenge for automotive industry designers because it allows detecting the critical points from the upstreamphase, avoiding oversizing and reducing the number of physical prototypes. This study is divided into two parts allowing the distinction of effects induced by multiaxial loadingsand particular characteristics of the welded joints. The first part focuses on the complex multiaxial loading. Thebehavior of a “well known material”, the 1045 steel, is studied under "automobile" spectrum loading. Differentfatigue life prediction methods are compared under two criteria: quality of prediction and simplicity of use. Thesecond part focuses on the study of behavior and fatigue life simulation of welded structures. To achieve thisgoal, a representative specimen of chassis parts and manufacturing process has been designed. A representativeFE model is constructed, based on micrographic observations and instrumented tests. Two loading modes areused in fatigue tests in order to activate different damage mechanisms at constant amplitude and under"automobile" spectrum. Finally, the methodology "Weld Stress Gradient" is proposed to incorporate in fatigue analysis theeffect of the stress gradient at the vicinity of weld joints critical points. This methodology, combined with Vucriterion (taking into account complex loadings) and "DCA" nonlinear cumulative damage rule (taking intoaccount interaction between spectrum loading blocks), provides encouraging results for the studied specimen

Full textThis research is based on a large notion of “working life” to avoid to restrict the philosophical enquiry to the modern and contemporary work. It has moreover a resolutely multidisciplinary characteristic and used a varied iconography showing the polysemy of the working life. First, it treats this life in its individual dimension (part 1 to 3), then in its collective and social ones (part 4 and 5). In the first part, the language game around the word “work” is examined and the working life facing to the other forms of life. The second part concerns the whole individual human life and interrogates the way the question of its quality seems to be put, especially its measure and in its filiation with the utilitarianism. It prepares the following step, which proposes an anthropological scheme of qualitative assessment of the working life. The two last parts square with a changing perspective. In the fourth, the work is examined in its values, then from an ethical point of view. The last one is dedicated to the work policy, included in an inhabited nature larger policy, which try to preserve the future of the mankind by a progressive contestation of our productivist civilisation, therefore the Work it has built. It invites to a social dialogue development as the only way to improve the conditions of the working life, and reflects on the conditions of this development

This fact doesn't appear in the other plays in middle Breton. The syntax, in spite of the great complexity of the versification, owing to the internal rhymes, is not altered, in this play, compared with the syntax in the works in prose

Full textThis thesis aims to understand the organization of the public actors who develop local land policies on the French Basque coast, by analyzing this public land action system in the course of decentralization, from the 1970s until today. The study of this territory shows the consequences of the gradual repositioning of the State, including how local governments have taken on the competence of the land regulation. The expertise, previously carried by the State, is ensured today by a multitude of structures, which contribute to complicating the interplay of local actors. In parallel, the Basque civil society has been mobilized around land issues (first in the agricultural policies): an alternative system has been built. The land issues pose in new terms the inescapable question of the institutionalization of the Basque Country

Some regret the time of ma'mura; others strongly question its repertoire. That's the way the state of the morrocan theatre is described in various reviews or colloquia. So, as far as the public, the creators, the searchers are concerned, the situation has become unbearable and even unmanageable. That's one of the main reasons which lead to conduct this survey. But, by studying, the theatrical situation, the composition of the public, its tastes and its expectations, a searching worker is lead to discover that the understructure and the equipment for the performances are the points on which the public as wellas the creators are focussed

Full textOur intention for this study was to further our understanding of the living and survival conditions associated with female homelessness in O'ahu. This empirical research aim to observe the objective and subjective experiences of these women through semi-structured qualitative interviews. More specifically, we focused specifically on the homelessness of Native Hawaiian women to answer the following questions: who are the Kanaka Maoli women experiencing homelessness? What are their living and survival conditions? How do social values, norms and social representations affect the social exclusion and marginalization experienced by them and how can it be understood from a sociological perspective? This desire for understanding is part of a broader observation of the social mechanisms that have an impact on the women we meet, more specifically with consideration for the exclusion, marginalization and violence. The margins studies are used to observe how culture, social roles and the normative orientation of action affect the lives of these women. As part of this study, interviews were conducted with twenty-nine women living in the community of Pu'uhonua O' Wai'anae, a self-managed homeless community in the West part of O'ahu. The exploration of these phenomena allows us to interpret the homelessness criminalization and social sanction as consequences of the processes of marginalization and exclusion these women face. The results indicated that living in this community would allow women to diminish the effects of several social processes experienced outside the community, such as exclusion, powerlessness and social invisibility. The self-managed community of Pu'uhonua O' Wai'anae is therefore proving to be an alternative model that meets the needs of people experiencing homelessness. By settling in the community, they discover a safe place where they can use their social agency. Rather than suffering from social exclusion, they create relationships and an inclusive community that allows them to be recognized as citizens.

Full textThe business organisation and family life. Setting -up into illegality. This ethnographic type research explores the life-stories of actors involved into cannabis and stolen cars traffics in order to reveal the rational behind their setting-up into illegality. The illegal practices are not dissociated from other aspects of the trafficker's life as family life for instance. Namely traffickers try hard to make coexist their legal end illegal practices in order to give coherence to their social identity. These efforts concern amongst other issues all the individual relationships with cleints, neighbours, peers, lovers and parents. This sociology of setting-up differs from sociology of delinquency as well as from academic studies concerning underground economy. This approach allows to no longer consider these illegal practices as exotic but to enhance their singular character

Full textLiving in and out of wedlock are two life choices both recognized by law and society. In spite of having lost part of its appeal, the institution of marriage remains the more powerful of the two as it is the institutionalized form of life partnership. The institution of marriage or wedlock, is the bluepoint to all life partnerships, the basis from which all rights and obligations of marriage are transfered to common law usage either trough substitutes in (common) law or trough the means of particular statutes namely the PACS (civil pact of solidarity) in France. The emergence of judicial rules between unmarried partners therefore tend toward the same goal as that of married partners. What is of import, is the economic safeguard of the weaker, or less well off member of the union. Living standards are at the heart of marital obligations which are there to ensure the smooth running of the partnership however the latter came to be constituted. These obligations survive beyond the breakdown of the union so as to protect the weaker member in the material aspects of his or her life

Full textThe end of life is undoubtedly one of the fields of French law that has undergone a major change in the twenty-first century. The latest medical innovations and scientific progress have led to disorientation of our main benchmarks in various areas of law and more specifically in the field of end of life. Initially, this study aimed to provide an overview of the various end-of-life medical procedures (deep and continuous sedation, palliative and supportive care, etc.) and the different laws in force in our country especially the ClaeysLeonetti law that came into force in 2016. Moreover, medical practice (judicialization of certain cases: Humbert / Pierra / Inès / Lambert) and the legal reality (the hypothetical insufficiency of French laws ?) have made create a number of new questions about end of life. This observation led to a hasty integration into our thinking of another notion, the notion of bioethics. The interest of this research was therefore to study the close relationship between bioethics and the end of life. First, it was necessary to ask if bioethics could concern the field of the end of life ? Could we talk about a real influence of bioethics concerning the end of life? Then, it seemed interesting to determine whether bioethics could reinforce or not the evolution of French law relating to the end-of-life. Finally, it should be noted that this study is part of a comparative law perpective, particularly by looking at other state models in terms of end-of-life (Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium)

Full textFogs are complex meteorological systems dealing with fine scale processes. Their lifecycles are closely related to the interactions between radiation, fog dynamics, turbulence and fog microphysics that make their forecasting difficult. Fogs are formed by the activation of aerosols particles into water droplets. To date, understanding the impact of the aerosols properties on the fog life cycle remains still challenging. This thesis aims at investigating the impact of activation processes on fog microphysics and lifecycles. In the framework of the PréViBoss project, in-situ measurements of fog properties were performed during winters 2010 to 2013 at the SIRTA site in the south of Paris. A detailed characterization of aerosols and fog microphysics, including number size spectrum of both particles under dry and wet conditions and droplets, was performed in order to investigate the aerosols efficiency to act as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). A large number of case studies are presented, which include 23 case studies on fog formation from the activation of aerosols and 48 fog events on the temporal evolution of fog microphysics. An original method has been used to investigate the link between supersaturation values and concentrations of CCN with aerosols properties (distribution, concentration and hygroscopicity). We show that supersaturation values determine the droplets concentration, independently of the concentration of aerosols. The evolution of fog microphysics of the 48 cases follows 4 phases with distinct behaviours, driven by condensation/evaporation and deactivation/ activation processes. The fog droplets concentration is determined during the first phase, then it fluctuate around this value during fog life cycle. Large eddy simulation of fog cases observed during PréViBoss are performed with the Meso-NH model to evaluate the impact of microphysics on fog lifetime. It allows to explore the close interactions between aerosols and physical processes. A two moments scheme is used for microphysic and two schemes for supersaturation have been evaluated, the first one estimate the maximal supersaturation and the second one considers a pseudoprognostic evolution of supersaturation following Thouron et al. (2012). Much lower supersaturation values were obtained with the second scheme. Addtional processes, such as condensation or mixing that were not included in previous scheme, are modeled. While CCN concentrations obtained with this new scheme are lower, they remain higher than the observations. We postulate that this behaviour could be due to the representation of dynamics. Sensibilitiy tests for different aerosols concentrations reveal a weak impact on fog life cycle. Only for extreme cases where the aerosol concentrations are low, the fog dissipation is delayed. This study shows that the fog life cycle is mainly driven by thermodynamics, dynamics and surface conditions through their impact on boundary layer stability. Moreover, surface heterogeneities greatly modify fog life cycle trough turbulent motions and should be considered for future experimental studies

Full textDomestic violence affects the health of individuals, influences their behaviour in the workplace, and impacts organisations. In addition to financial loss, it contributes to emphasize gender inequalities, especially within the professional sphere. Througha typology of the implications of domestic violence, this exploratory research examines the processes in motion during the interactions of victims with their professional environment, and how organisations can respond to the manifestations of this phenomenon which occurs within the family sphere. It is based on a double conceptual framework: domestic violence and work-family articulation. Field access relies on a combination of qualitative methods: 47 interviews (semi-directive individual and collective interviews, life histories) lead with victims as well as with representatives of non-mercantile organisations (associations, Kering Foundation, conseil général de l’Essonne) and businesses (PSA Peugeot-Citroën, BPI group).Besides this innovative theoretical anchoring, the results have allowed the emergence of a model that articulates the family determinant (acts of physical, psychological, and economic violence), the work-family relationship (spill over, conflict, and compensation) as well as the three main organisational effects (decrease in concentration, change in behaviour, and over investment in work). Amongst those three manifestations, the decrease in concentration (negative spill over) and the over investment in work (compensation) are significant elements in terms of the number of people concerned; the change in behaviour (negative spill over) represents a remarkable variable because of its unexplored character. Following logics of integration or respect, the organisations are likely to contribute to reducing the difficulties posed by these interferences, thus receiving economic and managerial benefits. The contributions of the study are found on several levels: on one hand it imports into France the issue of the organisational implications of domestic violence, and on the other, it positions it within the theoretical framework of the work-family relationship
