Full textArtificial Cs-137 has been introduced into the environment for more than half a century. Its first appearance in central European lake sediments corresponds to the nuclear weapons testing in the 1960s. The largest contamination of European lakes and rivers occurred as a consequence of the fallout after the Chernobyl accident in spring 1986. In this work the migration behaviour of artificial Cs-137 in Lago Maggiore and other pre-alpine lakes as a consequence of these fallouts was studied. Lago Maggiore is one of the largest drinking water reservoirs in the south of the Alps. After the Chernobyl accident roughly 20 kBq•m-2 of 137Cs were deposited onto the lake surface. From 2003 to 2005 bottom sediment cores and water samples were collected at 7 different locations of Lago Maggiore. Data on the 137Cs distribution in tributaries, lake water, suspended matter, bottom sediments, and the 137Cs association to different geochemical fractions are presented in this work. To model the run-off of 137Cs from the watershed into the lake a compartment model was used. For modeling the input of 137Cs into and the vertical distribution within the sediment a diffusion–convection type model was developed. This model takes into account the uptake of activity by sedimentation, fixation and redissolution, retarded diffusion, the influence of competing ions on the retarded diffusion within the sediments, and compaction of sediments. The results of the parameter optimization – mainly the sedimentation rate and the 137Cs distribution coefficient Kd, which determines the uptake of activity into the sediment – are discussed and compared with those of other European lakes characterized by similar 137Cs deposition levels but different limnological properties. To estimate the bioavailability of 137Cs, its activity concentrations in fish samples from Lago Maggiore were measured. Combining the existing data with our measurements, 137Cs fish–water concentration ratios were calculated and compared with those for other lakes which were affected by similar 137Cs contamination

Full textThe object of this case study is an analysis of art marketing regarding jeweler Jurga Lago and her creations – Yurga jewelry. Study discusses current state of matter, problematic and precedents as well as proposed solutions. This paper consists of three parts: one theoretical and two practical analysis. First part talks about theoretical art marketing background: theory, needs and orientations. It also discusses value and theory of art potential, which allow to draw conclusions on artists current state as well as possibilities created by marketing. After we are done analysing the concept of art marketing and its real-life implementation capacities we get to second part of study, where theory is empirically employed. Research engages jewelers Jurga Lagos marketing concept analyzed through prism of generic jewelry market study. Last segment of this paper consists of proposed solutions and ideas on future marketing of YURGA jewelry. The goal of this paper is a clarification of art marketing definitions, theoretical reasons for its evaluation, segmentation and implementation. This helps to establish values of art, definition of an artwork, determine artists potential and influence of marketing as well as its elements. This academic work is a part of master thesis. This theoretical part analyses art marketing theory, definitions, needs and orientations. It evaluates value of art and artistic potential, which allow to draw conclusions on artists current state as well as... [to full text]

This dissertation tackles the work Transit around the Lake Shore from the author s artistic experience, which adds ephemeral action, audiovisual, photographic, graphic and textual production to the academic reflection. The initial chapter starts from works and experiences, like Trap and Displacement towards the Triple Frontier, to outline the preceding and the actual motivations of the work proposal and to present the first topics, like the relationship between mobile spaces and singular ideas of space. General aspects of Transit around the Lake Shore are focused, like the context analysis; the definition of the action s place; the desires; the strategy; the artistic and personal challenges. It articulates local relationships with the sense of drifting applied by the artists. It indicates possible links with traditional extracts of art and contemporary configurations leaned to the public space, like public art, institutional criticism, conceptual art, art and activism, emphasizing the role of the artist in different ways of doing. It makes evident the ephemeral, collective and multilocalized character of the work proposal through the specificities of their unfoldings, so presented: blog, Travel Notebook, website, meeting Frontier Relationships, video By the shore and exposition Five Lakes. In the second chapter, entitled Transiting Concepts, conceptual ideas results of bibliographical researches are presented, which serve as analysis points to the artistic practice in question. Walking deals with aspects of walking as artistic practice; Specific Spaces refers to questions about site specific; Acting Fields is a consideration about the forms through which the artist keeps acting in the public space; Drift Journey Displacement deals with some uses of those terms and their role in Transit around the Lake Shore; and Strategy of Taking Space is about the possibility of amplifying existential spaces; it tackles the way women of the frontier zone between Paraguay and Brazil act to amplify their existential spaces through daily procedures; in parallel to that, strategies of taking space that come from feminine artistic production are analysed; in another moment, the frontier daily actions and the artistic strategies are juxtaposed in attempt of making evident policies of the body. The third chapter, Relationship Plots About Places and Subjectivities, revolves around the human relationships, the creation of contact situations and the meetings; it considers nomadism aspects and the construction of subjectivities. The sub-chapter Interpersonal Spaces analyses artistic proposals which has in common the action in physical frontiers; in Word this is treated as convergence agent of conceptual order, as field of approximation between various experiences, stressing the dialogues, the listening, the writing and the speeches. A last approach to this chapter focuses the memory as relationship plot between people and with the places; the action, the register, the edition, the distribution and the circulation of artistic proposals are analysed as mediation field. Finally, Invention Guarani Mobility brings notes about the singularity of space in the guarani life, specially on its contemporary aspects, creating a parallelism between artistic practices, which value the mobility, and this way of existence

Full textThis dissertation is based on fieldwork conducted among a group of indigenous Kaingang peoples, who inhabit the villages located in the regions surrounding Lake Guaíba and the Sinos River basins. The following discusses the relationship between the Kaingang and the various objects they produce, like tools, tradable items, body ornaments, and objects for display in art exhibitions or museums. The group’s unique art forms are taken as a materialization of the union between human and nonhuman entities. Also it proposes an approach to art that takes into account the agency of objects on the cosmos, the bodies, the Kaingang persons and also immaterial images, like dreams, evoked from experiences of Kaingang relations with humans and nonhuman spirits.
