Abstract:
This research aims to describe and reflect on the dimensions of a margin (limen) as a creative-active place capable of proposing a positive human relationship through artistic practice, with diversity excluded, creating original spaces for exercise and experimentation of a (new?) Citizenship. active that deviates from the hegemonic political culture, that asylum. The object of the anthropological reflection is how the artistic practice in an innovative "device" of the public mental health network of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais, Brazil), the Center for Coexistence (CdC) gives life to new forms of citizenship in the "state of exception "of the asylum logic. The CDCs are liminal places, active expressions of the antimanicomial struggle and of Brazilian and world psychiatric reform. In the CDC, through the artistic practice one becomes micro-politics, one builds citizenship; "Places of experimentation that can contribute to the reconsideration of the intimate relationship between conspiracy, multisensory and place making" (Minelli 2017), overcoming the crisis of presence. The CDC experience is on the sidelines of the public mental health policy of Belo Horizonte, but it is the emblem (through daily practice) of the logic of change that Basaglia and Rotelli then indicated as directions to follow to the "caminantes" who already in the mid-70s they began to move critically towards the asylum policy. The reflection after a necessary analysis of the Brazilian deinstitutionalization process (still in progress?) "Which for more than twenty years has pursued a courageous reform of the mental health system" (B. Saraceno 2014) and which through struggles, reflections and innovations "has having seen the birth and development of a compact movement for the renewal of public mental health services, involving technicians, family users and civil society "(Ib. 2014), it will focus on the daily artistic practice of the Coexistence Centers, obligatorily contextualizing it with the rest of the mental health network of the mineral capital (largely functioning according to a biomedical scheme) and in their relationship with the community by examining "the problematic relationship between reproduction and discontinuity in therapeutic and rehabilitative actions, in a phase of overcoming the psychiatric hospital. " (Minelli 2014 "). At a methodological level, an anthropology of experience will be used, and of studying with (Ingold 2013), thus participating in the process, and establishing through the presence, important intersubjective relationships through "sensory and pragmatic commitment" (Malighetti 2016, p .17), thus using the body as the main instrument of knowledge. The evocative poetic approach will be the methodological orientation of writing in order to maintain a certain assonance with the ethnographic experience. Furthermore, considering the plurality of the places involved, the research will be carried out in a “spatially discontinuous field” (Marcus, 1995), following the practices incorporated in and by the actors, mapping their path in a landscape that changes every moment.

Abstract:
Cellular therapy with embryonic or pluripotent stem cells used by regenerative medicine is a newly implemented protocol. These cells are derived from the blastocyst stage inner cell mass (ICM) and are capable of differentiating into all the body cell lineages. On the other hand, chronic diseases treatment such as cancer requires powerful drugs that sometimes cause unwanted effects. Cyclophosphamide (CP) is an alkylating anticancer drug that, among other things, causes infertility as a side effect. The aim of this research was reverse this negative effect by cell therapy using ICM to differentiate in vivo to germ stem cell (GSC). Swiss Rockefeller albino mice blastocyst stage embryos obtained 90 hours post coitus were used. The MCI was isolated by immunosurgery and then transplanted to the seminiferous tubules of recipient mice C57BL, which were previously germ line decreased drastically with CP (220mg/kg pc). The recipient animals were kept for 35 days in standard animal room conditions, after the animals were sacrificated by cervical dislocation; testes were removed to show the ICM colonization and differentiation by serial histological sections. The evaluation found the intraluminal colonization and presence of minitubules (2%) in the transplant recipients (62.5%). It is shown that the ICM cells have the ability to colonize seminiferous tubules of adult mice of different strains. Key words: Intraluminal Colonization, Inner Cell Mass, Pluripotent Stem Cells, Germ Stem Cells, Minitúbules.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Characteristics of Maine trappers were investigated by monitoring license buying behavior from 1976-1980 and by using a mail questionnaire after the trapping season in 1980. Trapping license sales increased 56% during the 5-year study period. From 37-41% of individuals who first purchased a license during this time period did not purchase one the next year. Most individuals who purchased a second license continued to purchase one. Through the questionnaire, individuals described attitudes, behaviors, and preferences. A disproportionately large number of individuals who claimed to be professional or semi-professional trappers attended public hearings. Although money received for fur pelts is important, the most common reason given for trapping was the challenge involved. Fall land trapping was the most preferred type of trapping and the one in which most trappers participated. Fox was the most preferred upland species and muskrat was the most preferred aquatic species. Detailed information was obtained from individuals who trapped in the fall. Effort per day of season was estimated in both trapper-days and average trap-nights. The problems rated highest by trappers in Maine involved people. Top-rated objectives of trappers were maintaining animal populations in proper balance with carrying capacity and maximizing pelt primeness. When presented with regulation options, respondents rated a species bag limit per trapper as the most acceptable option even though this regulation has been opposed consistently at public hearings. Information on trappers, animals, and harvests is combined into a Management system.

Abstract:
An ecological study of the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) has not been done before in the district of Las Piedras, Peru. This investigation seeks to begin closing the gap on the scientific production of feline studies in this region and contribute to the local conservation status and population health of this important meso predator. Additionally, the ocelot being a popular specie amongst tourists, helps promote the ecolodge’s tourism. Ecotourism presents an excellent alternative to improve the development of the district of Las Piedras through a dual function: implementation of conservation strategies and the creation of employment for the local population. The study area is an 11,000 ha. conservation and ecotourism concession owned by the ecolodge Amazon Research and Conservation Center. Using a combination of satellite images and GIS software, we performed a multi-temporal analysis of deforestation in the study area from 2000 to 2013 and found that most of it is located in the southern area of Tambopata province and along the Interoceanic Highway. For the home range analysis we installed 73 cameras over a sampling period of 7 months (August 2012 - February 2013) divided into 9 rounds. In total 8 individual ocelots were identified from which only 3 (A1, A3 and A6) were recaptured on more than one occasion. Using a capture-recapture analysis along with the distances between recaptures we found the effective sampling area using the following methods: Mean Maximum Distance Moved (MMDM) and ½ MMDM (with 0.4 km and 0.2 km between recaptures, respectively). The models yielded a population density of 0.7 ocelots/km2 with MMDM, and 1.8 ocelotes/km2 with ½ MMDM. On the other hand, using the software PRESENCE we analized the camera traps capture probability. Through a constant model and a closed population analysis it was estimated that the detection for each round was 0.3 (SE 0.0567). Finally, using a combination of satellite imagery and GIS software, we analyzed the ocelot habitat and we found that these animals frequently use transects aimed for tourists, they prefer floodplains nearby banks of rivers and lakes, and that they avoid bamboo forests and swaps. We conclude that ecotourism, through constant monitoring of wildlife, can help understand and preserve biodiversity in the Amazon. We used the ocelot as a model because it has a valuable ecological and touristic role. However, there are many other animals that can be used as a symbol to promote ecotourism and promote conservation. Camera trap methodology used in this study may be part of a conservation model that can be replicable in other parts of the Amazon that have a similar geographic context. The ARCC ecolodge aims to present a monitoring model that can serve as a guide for other initiatives in Las Piedras and create an ecotourism corridor with other ecolodges settled along the river Las Piedras.

Abstract:
Safety, a word that can be linked and interpreted in many different ways. Personal safety, that you should feel safe in your everyday life depending on your surroundings. IT security, to protect a persons or organization's valuable assets such as information. Flight safety, the safety of flying in its various kinds. There are safety issues in almost every area you look at, but this project that you will read about in this report is about traffic safety, more specifically, the safety of working in the back of an ambulance. Imagine working as an ambulance paramedic. You and your colleague have just picked up a “Prio 1” (most critical degree), classified patient who needs urgent care. You are sitting in the back of the ambulance and will take care of the patient while your colleague is driving the car. The situation is so critical that your colleague needs to drive as quickly as possible to get to the hospital in time. Thus, you must sit tight with a seat belt in order not to risk your own safety during the ride. Around you, there are a number of components you need to care of for the patient. You cannot reach these components because of the belt that clings to the chair. What are you going to do? Do you unbutton your belt to reach the components, but risk your own safety while driving? Or do you wear the belt incorrectly, so that you use the belt, but only over the hips (for example), so that you can reach the tools? Both of these alternatives are how the majority of ambulance paramedics use the seatbelt today to be able to do their job. Either you unbutton and release yourself completely from the belt or you use it, but incorrectly to reach everything the person in question needs in the ambulance. Both actions have resulted in a big amount of injuries to the caregivers and the numbers continues to increase continuously. This project is about just that. A solution to the problem of the working environment in the back of ambulances. Further in this report you will read about how two students at Halmstad University encountered the problem, but first and foremost how they solved it.
