Abstract:
The article touches the development of the French energy policy in 2017–2022 under the presidency of Emmanuel Macron. The author analyzed the dynamics of the energy mix change during 2017–2021 period in the context of the Energy transition act of 2015 and the plans of the French authorities concerning the management of five main types of the energy sources (atomic power stations, oil, gas, RES and coal). The paper highlights the tasks of E. Macron in this field and main steps of his administration to achieve them, structured into three stages – the first, relatively calm one – the beginning of Macron’s presidential term (2017–2019), the second – the COVID-19 pandmic (2020–2021) and the third – an escalation of the Ukrainian crisis (2022) in the time of Macron’s re-election for a second presidential term. It is shown that the French authorities had to adjust their original plans under the influence of a number of events, especially in the second and third stages. The article concludes that the majority of Macron's election promises in the energy sector were not fulfilled, but French authorities made a number of significant steps aimed at further adjustments to the French energy mix announced by Macron in 2017.

Full text
Abstract:
The repertoire of social behaviours of the Agile Wallaby, Macropus agilis, was compiled from observations of free-ranging and captive animals in the vicinity of Darwin, Northern Territory. Behaviours were divided into general, maternal, agonistic and sexual contexts. A larger repertoire of behaviours was recorded from captive wallabies but most of these behaviours, except subtle acts like Flehmen and sexual vocalisations, were also seen in free-ranging individuals. The social behaviours of M. agilis are similar to those of other species in the subgenus Prionotemnus. Macropus agilis performed tail-lashing (in sexual, agonistic and general contexts) and males did not use sustained tail support during fights, features which distinguish Prionotemnus from the other subgenera of Macropus. Macropus agilis gave a foot-thump flight signal but also tapped their feet when aware of a potential threat. More complex sexual and agonistic acts which occur in Whiptail Wallabies (Macropus parryi), Euros (Macropus robustus) and Grey Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) were not observed in M. agilis.

Abstract:
Korean species of the genus Macropsis Lewis are revised taxonomically, primarily based on the abdominal apodemes, male genitalia, and 2nd valvulae of the female ovipositor. Previously only three species were erroneously recorded from Korea. Among them, Macropsis notata (Prohaska, 1923) was previously misidentified as Macropsis prasina (Boheman, 1852). Two other European species, Macropsis scutellata (Boheman, 1845) and Macropsis illota (Horváth, 1899), are removed from the list of Korean fauna based on the examination of previously identified specimens that revealed only superficial resemblance to allied species. As a result, a total of 7 species are recognized in this revision, including 2 species new to science. Descriptions and distributional data are provided for all the species. Illustrations of both male and female genitalic characters as well as apodeme structures are provided, and an identification key to species from Korea is also given.

Abstract:
Abstract Surveying for flying squirrels by using traditional techniques produces extremely low detection rates compared with ultrasonic acoustics. Within Pennsylvania, the northern flying squirrel subspecies Glaucomys sabrinus macrotis is state listed as endangered due to habitat loss and parasite-mediated competition by and hybridization with the southern flying squirrel Glaucomys volans. This subspecies is isolated from adjacent populations in West Virginia and New York and has experienced drastic population declines. The discovery and characterization of ultrasonic vocalizations of G. s. macrotis and G. volans, as well as successful field surveys with ultrasonic acoustic detectors in the southern Appalachian Mountains, highlight the potential use of this technique for determining the presence of G. s. macrotis. To confirm the feasibility of using this technique on declining populations of G. s. macrotis sympatric with G. volans, we conducted 108 nights of passive ultrasonic acoustic surveys for G. s. macrotis at six survey sites by using two detectors per survey site (N = 12 detectors) in June 2017. We considered sites high quality (“high”) or low quality (“low”) based on the number of physical capture records during the past 2 decades and the dominance of boreo-montane conifer tree species in the overstory. We detected G. s. macrotis at four study sites and G. volans at all six study sites. We found higher average probability of detection for G. s. macrotis in high vs. low sites (0.28 ± 0.06 [mean ± SE] and 0.09 ± 0.07, respectively), whereas probability of detection was similar for G. volans between high and low sites (0.13 ± 0.05 and 0.17 ± 0.05, respectively). We also found G. s. macrotis had lower latency of detection at high vs. low sites (2.7 ± 0.8 and 7.83 ± 1.5 nights, respectively) but G. volans did not vary in latency of detection between sites (5 ± 1.6 and 3.8 ± 1.5 nights, respectively). Our study shows acoustics can be successfully used to efficiently survey G. s. macrotis in Pennsylvania, where populations are small and monitoring these populations more effectively is critical to determining changes in persistence due to climate- and disease-induced factors.

Abstract:
Current phylogenetic hypotheses of the relationships of Australian marsupials were tested by microcomplement fixation of albumin. The study involved antisera to albumins of 56 species, and cross- reactions to albumins of 199 species. The most notable and controversial features of the study were as follows. (1) Two major lineages are evident among the Australian marsupials- bandicoots-dasyuroids and diprotodontids; the marsupial mole represents a third lineage. (2) The honey possum Tarsipes is clearly a diprotodontid. (3) Acrobates and Distoechurus are monophyletic, but they are not burramyids; they are closely related to Tarsipes; moreover the Acrobates-Distoechurus-Tarsipes clade may be close to petaurids. (4) The New Guinean species of Antechinus are more closely related to the New Guinean Murexia than to Australian species of Antechinus. (5) The bandicoots fall into two groups-the New Guinean genera and the Australian genera; the bilby, Macrotis lagotis, is not clearly distinct from the bandicoots, and may be monophyletic with the New Guinean genera. (6) The banded hare-wallaby Lagostrophus is clearly the sister-group to all other extant macropodines, and may be monophyletic with potoroines rather than macropodines. (7) The genus Macropus may be paraphyletic. (8) The tree-kangaroos Dendrolagus may be closely related to the rock-wallabies and their allies (Petrogale, Peradorcas and Thylogale). (9) The genus Pseudocheirus (ringtail possums) is paraphyletic and its species are highly divergent at the molecular level. (10) The cuscuses (genus Phalanger) are probably a monophyletic assemblage.

Full text
Abstract:
The large-footed myotis (Myotis macropus) feeds by trawling aquatic invertebrates and small fish from water surfaces, but little is known about what types of streams are used. We investigated habitat use by M. macropus in northern New South Wales (NSW) by analysing data-base records, conducting field surveys and assessing environmental variables on or near waterways. A GIS comparison of 222 data-base records of M. macropus with broad environmental patterns indicated that most records were near large and permanent waterways at low elevations, in flat or undulating terrain, usually surrounded by vegetation. Three different field surveys were carried-out. First, 25 waterways on the NSW mid-north coast were stratified into five size classes and sampled (December 1996-January 1997) using harp traps and ultrasonic detectors. Just two captures and 20 passes were recorded. No M. macropus were detected on either the smallest or largest waterways, although the latter may have been under-sampled due to their broad expanse. Records of M. macropus were significantly associated with larger, more permanent waterways (when the largest size class was omitted). Non-metric multi-dimensional scaling of sites, described by their environmental attributes, failed to separate sites on the basis of presence/absence of M. macropus. The second survey (February 1998) targeted 25 sites on waterways within 10 km of a known roost in Kerewong State Forest. Twenty-eight passes were recorded, all confined to just three sites on Upsalls Creek, a large 4th order stream. The third survey (February 2000) investigated the use of adjacent riparian vegetation in the vicinity of the Kerewong roost. At each of 12 sites, one detector was placed on the stream, one 10 m from it and a third 20 m into adjacent vegetation. An average of 11 M. macropus passes per night was recorded over streams (total passes = 273), whereas no passes were recorded in adjacent vegetation. We conclude that M. macropus is sparsely dispersed across streams in forests of north-east NSW and that they are most likely to be recorded on large streams in the lower end of catchments. Management implications for timber production forests include redirecting effort from pre-logging surveys to monitoring the changing status of M. macropus over time, especially at day roosts where local populations are concentrated.

Abstract:
The paper discusses the specificity of E. Macron’s political discourse. By analyzing E. Macron’s speech delivered at the Elysee Palace on the 26th of September 2019 in commemoration of the passing of Jacques Chirac, the author argues that the abundance in such linguistic units as metaphors in E. Macron’s verbal behaviour influences the unconscious reception and successfully models a social and political picture that objectifies the increase of his political power. Floweriness, beauty, intelligence, poignance, and profundity of his sophisticated verbal behaviour are illustrated in his discourse.

Abstract:
A broad-scale ground survey of macropod abundance in north-eastern New South Wales was undertaken in 1989-90. The survey area was stratified into an eastern and western region, and within regions by habitat on the basis of vegetation and topographic criteria. Macropod density in each stratum was estimated from walked line transect counts for five species: Macropus giganteus, Macropus robustus, Macropus parryi, Macropus rufogriseus and Wallabia bicolor. Within sampled strata, macropod density was substantially higher in the western region than in the eastern region. Macropus parryi occurred in only trace numbers in the eastern region, with the number of sightings too small for reliable density estimation. No M. parryi were sighted in the western region. Macropus giganteus and M. rufogriseus were the dominant species in sampled strata in the eastern region, while M. giganteus and M. robustus were dominant in the west. Overall, pre-survey activities of habitat digitising and liaison with landholders required approximately the same effort as actual survey work. Liaison with landholders required relatively more time in the eastern region, where human population was higher, than in the western region. Incomplete coverage of planned transect routes, due mainly to impenetrable vegetation, lead to a positive bias of no more than 10-20% in population estimation for M. giganteus and M. robustus, and an unknown bias for the other species. The use of broad vegetation information on 1 : 100 000 map sheets for habitat stratification limited the scale at which analysis of sightability could be undertaken. Macropus giganteus and M. robustus are commercially harvested in the western region. Annual commercial harvest rates in the three years prior to the survey were conservatively estimated to be less than 0.9% for M. robustus and less than 5.4% for M. giganteus.

Abstract:
The prophet’s cartoon is an immense controversy for France and a country with a Muslim majority. As the France President, Emmanuel Macron has rarely gained critic toward the use of language when conveying his political discourse in the prophet cartoon case. Thus, this study explores Macron’s euphemism expressions in his political interview with Al Jazeera on the prophet cartoon. This paper also examines the effect (perlocutionary act) of Macron’s euphemism and then uses them as a means of teaching inferential reading comprehension in secondary school. This qualitative study employed transcription and documentation techniques to obtain the data. Macron’s euphemism was taken from his political interview on October 31, 2020 with Al-Jazeera, and comments of Macron’s political interview on YouTube are also used for the sample of the perlocutionary act. Moreover, Macron’s euphemism in YouTube is associated with euphemism in Jakarta Post online newspaper to be used as a means of teaching inferential reading comprehension. This study relied on the kind of euphemism by Rawson (1981), euphemism formation by Šebková (2012), perlocutionary act by Austin (1962), and inferential reading theory by Westwood (2008). In brief, it has been found that Macron utilized many positive euphemisms with widening formation to maintain his ideology and to shape the views of the world’s Muslims. Two perlocutionary acts (expression of acceptance and rejection) were also discovered, and Macron’s euphemism could be used as a means of teaching inferential reading comprehension.

Abstract:
Historical concepts of the generic status of the macropodines commonly known as kangaroos and wallabies are reviewed in this paper. A new diagnosis is provided for the genus Macropus, encompassing both living and fossil forms, and using cladistic principles to assess the phylogenetic value of diagnostic characters where possible. Cytological, biochemical and anatomical characters are used. Fourteen living and 11 extinct species of Macropus are recognized. Of these, 20 species have been classified into three subgenera, M.(Macropus), M.(Osphranter) and a new subgenus, M.(Notamacropus), as follows: M.(M.) giganteus, M.(M.) fuliginosus, M.(M.) mundjabus, M.(M.) pan, M.(M.) pearsoni and M.(M.) ferragus; M.(O.) antilopinus, M.(O.) bernardus, M.(O.) robustus, M.(O.) rufus and M.(O.) pavana; ,M.(N.) rufogriseus, M.(N.) eugenii, M.(N.) parryi, M.(N.) dorsalis, M.(N.) irma, M.(N.) agilis, M.(N.) greyi, M.(N.) parma, M.(N.) wombeyensis and M.(N) thor. Four poorly known extinct species, M. dryas, M. rama, M. woodsi and M. narada, have not yet been allocated to a subgenus. Prionotemnus palankarinnicus Stirton, 1957 is shown to belong outside Macropus. Because it is the type-species of Prionotemnus, that name is not available for a subgenus of Macropus. A current synonymy is presented for fossil species and the known stratigraphic range is given for each species. A phylogeny is presented expressing our view that M. (,Votamacropus) is the most plesiomorphic subgenus and M. (Macropus) is the most derived.

Abstract:
RECENT evidence indicates that the large-footed myotis Myotis macropus (previously Myotis adversus) is the sole representative of its genus in Australia (Cooper et al. in press). These are small bats that forage over pools of water in small streams, rivers and lakes, using large feet to trawl for prey along water surfaces (Dwyer 1970; Thompson and Fenton 1982). Little is known about their diet. Fish have been confirmed in the diet of M. macropus at a population that forages over a large lake, near Brisbane (Robson 1984). Unidentified insect material formed the bulk of the species? diet in Robson?s study. A small number of scats were also examined from M. macropus caught on the Murray River in South Australia (Jansen 1987). These contained fish remains and insects, particularly Chironominae (midges) and Culicidae (mosquitoes). We studied the diet of M. macropus at a forest stream to determine the importance of aquatic prey and thus to help guide management strategies for the species.

Abstract:
Captive parma and tammar wallabies, when offered ryegrass sward in plots, visited ungrazed plots more frequently and spent longer grazing on them than on plots that were previously grazed but not visibly depleted. There was no significant difference between the two species with respect to the pattern of time spent grazing between plots, but parma wallabies tended to visit ungrazed plots more frequently than tammar wallabies. When offered carrot pieces of different dimensions both species preferred carrot pieces of greater mass, regardless of shape. Both species favoured eating in the upright (bipedal) position despite the fact that the use of this position prolonged search time between bites. Although the two species are able to forage optimally when grazing, the greater efficiency of the bipedal posture in predator avoidance may result in the selection of larger food items whenever possible.

Four species of nereidid polychaetes, Perinereis cultrifera, P. macropus, Nereis falsa, and Platynereis dumerilii, were identified during three years in four intertidal rocky shore sites (El-Kala, Annaba, Skikda and Collo) along the east coast of Algeria during the years 2011–2013. Species’ distribution fluctuated according to sites and season. Perinereis cultrifera was observed during most of the year, except in summer. Perinereis macropus was observed at El-Kala, Skikda and Collo mainly in late winter and early spring. Nereis falsa was observed during most of the year in El-Kala and Annaba; this species was also observed in Skikda in 2011 but then disappeared in the last two years of this study. Finally, the presence of P. dumerilii was noticed only in El-Kala for a few months (mainly in March and April). Perinereis cultrifera, P. macropus and P. dumerilii reproduce after acquiring the epitokous form between April and May, when surface seawater temperature starts rising. The largest mature oocytes were about the same for P. cultrifera (279 µm) and P. macropus (278 µm), while this value was smaller for P. dumerilii (166 µm). In contrast to the other three species of nereidid polychaetes, N. falsa reproduces without epitokal modification between July and August when sea temperature was highest. The largest mature oocytes (168 µm) are about the same as P. dumerilii but is much small than those of P. cultrifera and P. macropus.

Abstract:
France is currently going through a rather difficult period of reforms carried out by President Emmanuel Macron in order to bring the economy out of prolonged stagnation and restore the country's «greatness» in the world. Macron's reform initiatives, based on monetarist recipes and the concept of supply-side economics, are considered in the context of the global trend towards economic liberalization that began in the 1970 s and included most developed and developing countries. Until now, changes in France have been slow, with a great lag from other European countries and accompanied by mass protests of the population, because they run counter to the principles of the post-war dirigiste socio-economic model. France went through a long period of liberalization and retreat of the state, and the French model of the market economy has acquired a kind of hybrid character: it is no longer a dirigiste, but also neither a liberal model of the classical (Anglo-Saxon) type. The President set a task to bring the neoliberal transformation of the French socio-economic model to its logical end by reforming institutions that do not meet modern challenges. The article analyzes the most important reforms that were carried out by French presidents before E. Macron, in order to reduce the public sector, change labor law and collective bargaining procedures, reduce social expenditures of the state, etc. The role of E. Macron in neoliberal reforms during the presidency of F. Hollandeis shown. Particular attention is paid to the tasks and content of E. Macron's landmark reforms, including the reform of labor legislation, tax reform, the reform of the state monopoly in the field of railway transport, and the incomplete pension reform. The President has surpassed his predecessors in terms of the scale and significance of neoliberal reforms. This is unquestionably major breakthrough in neoliberal transformation, which will have an impact on the further development of the country's economy.

Abstract:
The facial, masticatory, and neck musculature of Echymipera ('Peroryctidae'), Isoodon (Peramelidae), and Macrotis (Thylacomyidae) is detailed and figured, as are skull attachments of the described muscles. Each bandicoot family is myologically distinct, and all show greater differentiation of muscles than didelphids or dasyurids, especially in the neck. The mandibulo-auricularis has two bellies in Isoodon and fans out underneath the platysma in Macrotis, in contrast to the simple condition in didelphids, dasyurids, and Echymipera. The maxillo-naso-labialis extends furthest posterior in Echymipera, but is generally more differentiated in bandicoots than in dasyurids and Trichosurus. An omo-trachelien dorsalis is present in didelphids, dasyurids, Trichosurus and Macrotis, but absent in Isoodon and Echymipera. All three bandicoots have a styloglossus, which is not present in didelphids and dasyurids, and a differentiated temporalis pars zygomaticus.

Abstract:
An intersexual agile wallaby (Macropus agilis) with a penis, a pouch and four teats had a sex-chromosome constitution of XXY in lymphocytes and cultured fibroblasts; the sex-determining region Y (SRY) gene was present, consistent with the presence of a testis. An intersexual eastern grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus) with a small empty scrotum and no penis, and an abnormal red kangaroo (Macropus rufus) with no penis, pouch or teats, both had XX sex-chromosome complements; the SRY gene was not present, consistent with testis absence. The agile wallaby and grey kangaroo described here provide further evidence that scrotal development in marsupials is independent of the Y chromosome. The cause of the abnormalities in the XX individuals cannot be determined until candidate genes are identified. These animals provide a basis for further genetic studies into marsupial intersexuality and sex differentiation.

Abstract:
Wallaroos were bred in captivity during almost 20 years. Individual males attained sexual maturity at between 18 and 20 months old and females at between 14 and 24 months old; both sexes were capable of breeding throughout the year. Gestation was 30-38 d and extended almost the full length of the oestrous cycle, 31-46 d. Post-partum mating usually produced a blastocyst subject to lactational quiescence. Removal or loss of a pouch young usually resulted in birth 28-32 d later but up to 41 d later in the presence of an actively suckled young-at-foot. Pouch life ranged between 231 and 270 d, with vacation of the pouch usually followed by another birth 1-14 d later. Lactation exceeded 12-14 months but suckling had waned by 15-17 months. Reproductive patterns for M. r. robustus and M. r. erubescens were similar although significant differences between the subspecies were recorded in length of oestrous cycle, the interval from loss of pouch young to birth and post-partum oestrus, the length of pouch life and the time between vacation of the pouch and birth. In addition, the reproductive activity of hybrids produced by matings between the subspecies was observed, as was that of a limited number of M. antilopinus.

Abstract:
Five flying-fox species (Pteropus scapulatus, P. alecto, P. conspicillatus, P. macrotis, and P. banakrisi) have been reported from islands in the Torres Strait, situated between northern Australia and southern Papua New Guinea. However, vouchered specimens demonstrate that Torres Strait records of the Large-eared flying-fox (Pteropus macrotis) actually reflect misidentifications of the Little Red flying-fox (P. scapulatus), and that the type series of Pteropus banakrisi Richards & Hall, 2002 (a newly-described species supposedly endemic to Moa Island) consists only of subadult individuals of the Black flying-fox (P. alecto). Only three flying-fox species are therefore known from the strait. These re-identifications underscore the importance of voucher specimens in biological investigations and have important implications for bat conservation in Australia. Pteropus macrotis is removed from the list of mammal species known from Australia, and banakrisi is placed in the synonymy of P. alecto.

Abstract:
The dispersion, grouping patterns, diet and habitat utilisation of the antilopine wallaroo were studied during the wet and early dry season of 1983 at Coomalie Creek Farm in the Northern Territory. Two sites were sampled: one with steep-sided ridges and narrow valleys, the other with low ridges and open grassy depressions. The mean and modal group sizes of antilopine wallaroos at various population densities place this species amongst the most gregarious macropodids. By contrast, sympatric northern wallaroos and agile wallabies are essentially solitary. Associations between population classes of antilopine wallaroos contrasted with those in other large kangaroos, possibly because the mating period was not sampled. Females were most common in sites of low relief and large males were proportionately more common in this topography than were medium males. Faecal analysis showed that antilopine wallaroos grazed only grasses.

Abstract:
We investigated the functional significance of molar progression and the influence of diet on the usefulness of molar progression as an index of age in two macropodid marsupials, the tammar wallaby (Macropus eugenii), a grazing species, and the parma wallaby (Macropus parma), a browser/grazer, by exploring the relationships between the index of molar progression and several skull and tooth parameters. We also tested allometric models that related molar progression and aspects of tooth morphology to body mass. Results support the notion that molar progression in these closely related macropods results from 'mesial shift'(forward movement resulting from growth of the bones of the skull bearing the dentary, the anterior viscerocranium) rather than from 'mesial drift' (forward movement of molars relative to the anterior viscerocranium). There were no significant differences between the two species in the rate of molar progression despite differences in diet. Instead, the greater reliance of tammar wallabies on grasses was reflected in differences in their tooth morphology from that of parma wallabies. The sum of the breadths of erupted molariform teeth of tammars increased significantly faster with body mass and with length of the anterior viscerocranium than in parma wallabies and approximated a theoretical model for compensation with metabolic body mass more closely than models based on other morphological parameters. The total mesiodistal length of dentition, the mesiodistal lengths of the component teeth of the proximal molar row, and the distance between the mesial and distal lophs were all significantly lower in tammar wallabies than in parma wallabies. These differences result in tammar wallabies having greater numbers of transverse cutting edges per unit of molar tooth length, which maximises the efficiency of comminution of long grass fibres.

Abstract:
A comparative study of macroscopic and microscopic dimensions of the intestines in five macropod species indicated that the grazing macropods (the red kangaroo, Macropus rufus, and the eastern grey kangaroo, Macropus giganteus) had significantly longer caeca and large intestines than those of the browsing macropods (the swamp wallaby, Wallabia bicolor, and the red-necked pademelon, Thylogale thetis). This trend was not observed in the small intestine. The arid-adapted M. rufus also had a significantly longer large intestine than M. giganteus, which may be a water-conservation feature. Intestinal villi were tall in T. thetis, which consumed a less fibrous diet, whereas the agile wallaby, Macropus agilis, on a highly fibrous diet, had short villi; other macropods, on diets of medium fibre content, had villi of intermediate height. Thus, the size of the hindgut (i.e. caecum and large intestine) may provide an index of the specific feeding habit of a species (browsing or grazing), whilst parameters of the villi of the small intestine may reflect the quality of the animals' current diet.

Abstract:
AbstractSerial sampling of tooth enamel growth increments for carbon and oxygen isotopic analyses of Macropus (kangaroo) teeth was performed to assess the potential for reconstructing paleoseasonality. The carbon isotope composition of tooth enamel apatite carbonate reflects the proportional intake of C3 and C4 vegetation. The oxygen isotopic composition of enamel reflects that of ingested and metabolic water. Tooth enamel forms sequentially from the tip of the crown to the base, so dietary and environmental changes during the tooth's formation can be detected. δ13C and δ18O values were determined for a series of enamel samples drilled from the 3rd and 4th molars of kangaroos that were collected along a 900 km north–south transect in southern Australia. The serial sampling method did not yield pronounced seasonal isotopic variation patterns in Macropus enamel. The full extent of dietary isotopic variation may be obscured by attenuation of the isotopic signal during enamel mineralisation. Brachydont (low-crowned) Macropus teeth may be less sensitive to seasonal variation in isotopic composition due to time-averaging during mineralisation. However, geographic variations observed suggest that there may be potential for tracking latitudinal shifts in vegetation zones and seasonal environmental patterns in response to climate change.

Abstract:
Comparative morphological studies can provide insights into an animal’s ecology and evolutionary history. Functional morphological studies of the kangaroo forelimb are few in number and new work could provide novel tools to aid in the interpretation of fossil taxa and the understanding of the evolutionary history of kangaroos and marsupials as a whole. A description of the shoulder and forelimb musculature of the tammar wallaby (Macropus eugenii) with comparisons to the red kangaroo (Macropus rufus Desmarest, 1842), the western grey kangaroo (Macropus fuliginosus Desmarest, 1817) and the quokka (Setonix brachyurus Quoy & Gaimard, 1830) is presented. The species chosen were readily available and represent a range in size of the archetypal kangaroo form. Muscle maps of forelimb and shoulder muscles were constructed as an aid to comparing the spatial arrangement of muscle origins and insertions. The anatomical pattern of forelimb musculature in terrestrial macropodine kangaroos and wallabies is highly conservative. Functionally, the musculature of the forelimb corresponds to a supporting role of the limb during slow pentapedal locomotion. The illustrations of muscle insertions provided in this work will be a useful reference for future work in comparative marsupial anatomy and palaeobiology.

Abstract:
The effects of roads on wildlife behaviour and ecological function are poorly known in arid Australia. The most obvious impact is roadkill from wildlife-vehicle collisions. Therefore we collected statistics on kangaroo-vehicle collisions, investigated the causal factors of these collisions, and related roadkill mortality to the population structure, size and distribution of four kangaroo species in two intensive six month studies during and following drought. The research was conducted along a 21.2 km sealed section of the Silver City Highway between Broken Hill and Tibooburra that passes through the University of New South Wales (NSW) Arid Zone Research Station at ‘Fowlers Gap’ in north-western NSW. The rate of roadkill was higher during drought (20.8 roadkills month-1) than non-drought (2.6 roadkills month-1). Affected species were red kangaroos (Macropus rufus), euros (Macropus robustus erubescens), western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus) and eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus). During drought, M. fuliginosus and M. giganteus were killed in lower proportions than their proportion in the source population, otherwise species were killed in proportion to their density along the road. There were no sex biases but male M. r. erubescens were much more likely to be beside the road than females and thus were killed more often during drought. The majority of roadkills were young individuals around 2 years old. Curves and stockraces along the road significantly increased the likelihood of roadkills. Likewise the frequency of roadkills was a function of the kangaroo population density along the road, night time traffic volume, low rainfall and higher vegetation cover and greenness along the road relative to surrounding areas. We evaluate the relationships between these causal factors and kangaroovehicle collisions, and discuss the possible effects of these collisions on kangaroo population structure under drought and post-drought conditions.

Distribution maps are given and species status is assessed . Macropus agilis, M. antilopinus and M. bernardus are common in Kakadu, although M. bernardus has a restricted distribution. M. robustus is not as common as the other species of Macropus and has a restricted distribution. Petrogale brachyotis is locally abundant while Peradorcas concinna is scarce; both species have restricted distributions. Onychogalea unguifera has been recorded infrequently, and there is only one record of Lagorchestes conspicillatus from Kakadu.

Abstract:
During the migration crisis faced by Europe, European countries began to develop national strategies to solve the problems caused by the crisis. In this sense, the practice of modern migration policy of France is relevant, where despite the long history of immigration, the issues of integration of immigrants have not yet been fully resolved. Moreover, the country is forced to find answers to them in a situation of radicalization of society, caused, among other reasons, by the factor of the clash of different cultures and worldviews, to which the current migration policy has led. The article discusses the main directions of migration policy of Emmanuel Macron. It analyzes the policy statements of French president, as well as the laws and government decisions adopted in France in recent years, such as the Law “For controlled immigration, effective right of asylum and successful integration” (August 2018) and “20 measures to improve policy in field of Immigration, Asylum and Integration” (November 2019) which shape modern French migration policy. It is about the policy of France regarding the admission of refugees, student immigration, immigration on the status of “talents”, as well as professional and scientific personnel, the integration of immigrants. Attention is drawn to innovations related to introduction of quotas in labor immigration, as well as to strengthening cooperation with French citizens living outside France, expansion of French education system abroad. The article identifies the features of Macron’s migration policy which distinguish it from the measures taken earlier by his predecessors. It is about policy of admitting refugees, their access to health insurance, professional training, labor migration – the introduction of quotas, the expansion of preferences in student migration and in the status of “talents”. The projects of high importance for the President of France are projects aimed at strengthening France’s position worldwide in culture, education, science and business, and realizing the underestimated potential of compatriots abroad for this purpose as well.
