Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper I claim that the spatial structural system of Shanghai Shikumen Longtang constitutes a sign system based on its architectural semiotics. The paper focuses on the structure of the architectural space, including the interactive relationship between the architectural spatial structure and its residents. The research agenda undertakes a theoretical study of modern architectural semiotics by means of syntactic and semantic analyses of the spatial structure of Shanghai Shikumen Longtang, including as well an analysis of the pragmatics of meaning in production and reproduction in Shanghai Shikumen Longtang. The application of spatial language grammar in the analysis reveals the meaning of the sign system of the architectural spatial structure and pragmatic communication of Shanghai Shikumen Longtang, decodes the profound and intricate signification in the spatial system of Shanghai Shikumen Longtang and suggests a deeper and broader view for recognizing the underlying meaning system of the Longtang in the urban space of modern Shanghai City.

We have shown previously that the activity levels and preferred directions of supplementary eye field neurons change as monkeys learn to associate nonspatial visual information with a saccade (or the spatial target of that saccade). The present report describes changes in neuronal population vectors (PV) during such learning. PVs based on neuronal activity shortly before and after saccades predicted movement direction poorly in the earliest stage of learning, but as monkeys mastered novel stimulus-response mappings, PV accuracy and magnitude increased significantly.

Abstract:
This study described the development of a method based on soxhlet extraction combining high performance liquid chromatography (soxhlet-HPLC) for the accurate detection of BDE-209 in soils. The solvent effect of working standard solutions in HPLC was discussed. Results showed that 1 : 1 of methanol and acetone was the optimal condition which could totally dissolve the BDE-209 in environmental samples and avoid the decrease of the peak area and the peak deformation difference of BDE-209 in HPLC. The preliminary experiment was conducted on the configured grassland (1 μg/g) to validate the method feasibility. The method produced reliable reproducibility, simulated soils (n=4) RSD 1.0%, and was further verified by the analysis e-waste contaminated soils, RSD range 5.9–11.4%. The contamination level of BDE-209 in burning site was consistent with the previous study of Longtang town but lower than Guiyu town, and higher concentration of BDE-209 in paddy field mainly resulted from the long-standing disassembling area nearby. This accurate and fast method was successfully developed to extract and analyze BDE-209 in soil samples, showing its potential use for replacing GC to determinate BDE-209 in soil samples.

Abstract:
The Longtan Formation of the Upper Permian in the Sichuan Basin has become a significant target for shale gas exploration in recent years. Multiple methods, including outcrop observations, thin sections, total organic matter content, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to investigate the mineralogy, shale lithofacies assemblages and their relationships with the deposition environment. The mineral composition of the Longtan Formation has strong mineral heterogeneity. The TOC values of the Longtan Formation have a wide distribution range from 0.07% to 74.67% with an average value of 5.73%. Four types of shale lithofacies assemblages of the Longtan Formation could be distinguished, as clayey mudstone (CLS), carbonaceous shale (CAS), siliceous shale (SS) and mixed shale (MS) on the basis of mineral compositions. The TOC values of various types of shale lithofacies assemblages in the Longtan Formation varied widely. The shore swamp of the Longtan Formation is most influenced by the terrestrial input and mainly develops CLS and MS. The tidal flat is influenced by the terrestrial input and can also deposit carbonate minerals, developing CLS, CAS and MS. The shallow water melanged accumulation shelf develops CAS and MS, dominated by clay and carbonate minerals. The deep water miscible shelf develops CLS and SS, whose mineral composition is similar to that of the shore swamp, but the quartz minerals are mainly formed by chemical and biological reactions, which are related to the Permian global chert event. The depositional environment of the Longtan Formation controls the shale mineral assemblage of the Longtan Formation and also influences the TOC content.

A total of two third-order sequences are subdivided in Late Permian. Sequence 1 is from the bottom of the Longtan Formation to the bottom of C16 coal in Longtan Formation, representing a transgressive to regressive cycle, and the Sequence 2 is from the bottom of C16 coal in Longtan formation to the top of the Changxing Formation. From Maokou formation to the first flooding surface (the bottom of the C25) is the low systems tract in sequence 1(the earlier stage of coal accumulation). The palaeogeographic map has been reconstructed based on the contour maps of a variety of palaeogeographic parameters including total thickness of strata, thickness of sandstone, thickness of mudstone, and sandstone-mudstone ratio. The paleogeographic units include lowlandhighland eluvial plain and bay-lagoon-tidal. The transgression comes from south and the sediment provenances are mainly from the Kangdian old land in the west.

Abstract:
Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) is one of common economically important pelagic fish species in Indonesia. The objective of this study is examining the biology of reproduction, consisting of length of weight relationship, sex ratio, maturity stage, gonado somatic index (GSI), length at first capture, and length at first maturity and spawning pattern. A total of 633 longtail tuna, ranging 29-58 cmFL and consisting of 293 males and 340 females, were collected from the Java Sea between April 2018 and March 2019. The results showed that the longtail tuna growth pattern was isometric. The sex ratio was not significantly different between male and female. The length of first capture longtail tuna of drift gillnet (43.2 cmFL) was bigger than the length at first maturity (42,3 cmFL). This indicates that the most of longtail tuna caught by drift gillnet have already spawned. The peak’s spawning season occurred in May and November, with fecundity ranging from 783,597 - 1,579,160 eggs. Longtail tuna has multiple spawning pattern

Abstract:
Co-exploitation of coal measure gases (coalbed gas, shale gas, and tight sandstone gas) puts a higher requirement on drilling fluids. Conventional drilling fluids have disadvantages, such as causing problems of borehole collapse, formation damage, and water blockage. This paper proposes a set of high inhibitive and low-damage drilling fluids that function by electrical inhibition and neutral wetting. Zeta potential results showed that the negative electrical property of Longtan coal in Bijie, Guizhou, can be reversed by organic mixed metal hydroxide (MMH) and the cationic surfactant alkyl trimethylammonium bromide (CS-5) from −3.63 mV to 19.75 mV and 47.25 mV, respectively. Based on the contact angle and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) results, it can be concluded that chemical adsorption dominates between the Longmaxi shale and surfactants, and physical adsorption between the Longtan coal and surfactants. A compound surfactant formula (0.001 wt% CS-4 + 0.001 wt% CS-1 + 0.001 wt% CS-3), which could balance the wettability of the Longmaxi shale and the Longtan coal, making them both appear weakly hydrophilic simultaneously, was optimized. After being treated by the compound surfactants, the contact angles of the Longmaxi shale and the Longtan coal were 89° and 86°, respectively. Pressure transmission tests showed that the optimized combination of compound surfactants and inorganic MMH (MMH-1) could effectively reduce permeability of the Longmaxi shale and the Longtan coal, thus retarding pore pressure transmission in coal measure strata. Then, the proposed water-based drilling fluid (WBDF) system (4 wt% sodium bentonite + 1.5 wt% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose + 2 wt% lignite resin + 5 wt% potassium chloride + 3 wt%MMH-1 + 0.001 wt% CS-4 + 0.001 wt% CS-1 + 0.001 wt% CS-3) was evaluated based on parameters including rheology, American Petroleum Institute (API) filtration, electrical property, wettability, inhibition capability, reservoir protection characteristics, and anti-pollution performance. It had an API filtration of 7 mL, reservoir damage rate of 10%, moderate and acceptable viscosity, strong inhibition capability to coal measure strata rocks, good tolerance to inorganic pollutants and drilling cuttings, and environmentally friendly properties. It could meet wellbore stability and reservoir protection requirements in the co-exploitation of coal measure gases.

Abstract:
Underground cavities formed by underground mining activities are a potential threat to open-pit mining activities. Longtan Village Iron Mine is located in Chengde city, Hebei province, China. The open-pit mining and underground mining of Longtan Village Iron Mine are simultaneously performed. Cavities will remain after underground mining. When mining is performed on the top of the underground cavities in the open pit, concerns arise regarding the closest distance to prevent the collapse of the cavities. (The closest distance is the safe distance between the explosive and the cavities. If the distance between the explosive and the cavities is less than the closest distance, the stability of the cavities will be affected.) The collapse will endanger the safety of the workers and equipment in the open pit. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the stability of the underground cavities near the bench blasting. In this paper, a series of bench blast tests was performed, and the site-specific attenuation relations of the PPV (Peak particle velocity) and principal frequency of Longtan Village Iron Mine were obtained. Then, an ANASYS three-dimensional numerical model was created, and the propagation of the blast wave and the response of the multicavities were calculated by LS-DYNA. The accuracy of the simulation was verified. However, the bench blast tests do not affect the stability of the cavities. The formula to calculate the closest distance was obtained, which can be used as an approximate guide when designing the bench explosion of Longtan Village Iron Mine. Workers can mine in a safe area of the open pit, and the stability of the cavities will not be affected.

Abstract:
The annual global catch of longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) has almost tripled in the past 20 years. In the Indian Ocean tuna fishery, longtail tuna catches now exceed those of some principle target species (e.g. bigeye and albacore tuna), resulting in numerous stock assessments concluding the species has been subject to overfishing and overfished for several years. Stock assessment is currently hindered by unreliable biological and catch data, which provided the impetus to study and describe the reproductive dynamics of longtail tuna in Australian waters using histology. Mean (95% confidence interval) length and age at 50% maturity were 535mm (463–570mm) and 2.51 years (2.14–2.79 years). Spawning occurred between October and February, when females produced a mean (±s.d.) of 1516680±743980 oocytes per spawning. Three spawning locations were confirmed based on the presence of postovulatory follicles in a small number of ovaries, although major spawning areas may be located offshore. The present study provides reliable maturity and fecundity ogives that may improve future assessment of longtail tuna stocks throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

Based on action research methods in between peri-urban and rural communities of Longtan region in Taoyuan Taiwan, the object of our paper is to investigate how to reconnect lives and landscapes to revitalize small towns and shrinking rural villages by cultivating edible community networks. We define edible community networks as social designing local food to connect three major domains: autonomous processes, environmental friendly economies, and cross-cultural landscape identities. The findings of our research suggest that food imbody social relationships as well as economic connections. Rural revitalizations could be established via integrating food connections among urban consumers, farmers, and community groups.

Abstract Griffiths, S. P., Fry, G. C., Manson, F. J., and Lou, D. C. 2010. Age and growth of longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) in tropical and temperate waters of the central Indo-Pacific. – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 67: 125–134. Age and growth of longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) were assessed by examination of annual growth increments in sectioned sagittal otoliths from 461 fish (238–1250 mm fork length, LF) sampled from tropical and temperate waters in the central Indo-Pacific between February 2003 and April 2005. Edge and microincrement analyses (presumed daily increments) suggest that longtail tuna deposit a single annual growth increment mainly between August and October. Age was, therefore, estimated for all fish by counting assumed annual growth increments. Ages ranged from 154 d to 18.7 years, with most fish being 3–9 years. Five growth models were fitted to length-at-age data, all of which indicated that the species is relatively slow-growing and long-lived. Recaptures of two tagged fish at liberty for 6.2 and 10.5 years support this notion. A bias-corrected form of Akaike's Information Criterion determined that the Schnute–Richards model provided the best fit to length-at-age data, with model parameter estimates (sexes combined) of L∞ = 135.4 cm LF, K = 22.3 year−1, t0 = 0.120 years, δ = 150.0, v = 0.019, and γ = 2.7 × 10−8. There was no significant difference in growth between sexes. The results suggest that longtail tuna grow more slowly and live longer than other tuna species of similar size. Coupled with their restricted neritic distribution, longtail tuna may be vulnerable to overexploitation by fisheries, and caution needs to be exercised in managing the species until more reliable biological and catch data are collected to assess the status of the population.

Abstract:
Low temperatures could inhibit bacteria producing histamine during fish handling process. Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) is kept in ice starting from catching process until delivering to retail market to maintain quality of fish. However, long period of this storage causes growth of bacteria and deformation of histidine into histamine. This study was aimed to determine the effect of different storage conditions to the quality of longtail tuna through sensory and histamine test. Samples of longtail tuna were kept for 18 days in room temperature storage (28±2°C), cold temperature (0±3°C) and freezing temperature (-10±4°C). The quality of tuna was evaluated using Quality Index Method (QIM). The formation of histamine was analysed on day 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 14, 18 using spectrofluorometry method. Sensory acceptability limit at room temperature was one day, while cold storage reached 10 days with QIM score 11. Longtail tuna was spoiled on day 2 at room temperature with QIM score >12 and concentration of histamin at 1713.88 mg/kg. The results of histamine in frozen and cold storage on the 18th day were 59.99 mg/kg and 77.98 mg/kg, these results exceeded the FDA limit (50 mg/kg) but still below the limit of FAO (100 mg/kg).The best storage condition is frozen storage, maintaining sensory acceptability and preventing histamine formation.

The pore structure of marine-continental transitional shales from the Longtan Formation in Guizhou, China, was investigated using fractal dimensions calculated by the FHH (Frenkel-Halsey-Hill) model based on low-temperature N2 adsorption data. Results show that the overall D 1 (fractal dimension under low relative pressure, P / P 0 ≤ 0.5 ) and D 2 (fractal dimension under high relative pressure, P / P 0 > 0.5 ) values of Longtan shales were relatively large, with average values of 2.7426 and 2.7838, respectively, indicating a strong adsorption and storage capacity and complex pore structure. The correlation analysis of fractal dimensions with specific surface area, average pore size, and maximum gas absorption volume indicates that D 1 can comprehensively characterize the adsorption and storage capacity of shales, while D 2 can effectively characterize the pore structure complexity. Further correlation among pore fractal dimension, shale organic geochemical parameters, and mineral composition parameters shows that there is a significant positive correlation between fractal dimensions and organic matter abundance as well as a complex correlation between fractal dimension and organic matter maturity. Fractal dimensions increase with an increase in clay mineral content and pyrite content but decrease with an increase in quartz content. Considering the actual geological evaluation and shale gas exploitation characteristics, a lower limit for D 1 and upper limit for D 2 should be set as evaluation criteria for favorable reservoirs. Combined with the shale gas-bearing property test results of Longtan shales in Guizhou, the favorable reservoir evaluation criteria are set as D 1 ≥ 2.60 and D 2 ≤ 2.85 . When D 1 is less than 2.60, the storage capacity of the shales is insufficient. When D 2 is greater than 2.85, the shale pore structure is too complicated, resulting in poor permeability and difficult exploitation.

Abstract:
Adsorbed gas is an important component of shale gas. The methane adsorption capacity of shale determines the composition of shale gas. In this study, the methane adsorption capacity of marine, transitional, and lacustrine shales in the Sichuan Basin was analyzed through its isothermal adsorption, mineral composition, water content, etc. The results show that the methane adsorption capacity of marine (Qiongzhusi Formation and Longmaxi Formation), transitional (Longtan Formation), and lacustrine (Xujiahe Formation and Ziliujing Formation) shales is significantly different. The Longtan Formation has the strongest methane adsorption capacity. This is primarily related to its high organic matter and organic matter type III content. The methane adsorption capacity of the lacustrine shale was the weakest. This is primarily related to the low thermal evolution degree and the high content of water-bearing clay minerals. Smectite has the highest methane adsorption capacity of the clay minerals, due to its crystal structure. The water content has a significant effect on methane adsorption largely because water molecules occupy the adsorption site. Additionally, the temperature and pressure in a specific range significantly affect methane adsorption capacity.

Abstract:
The lack of evaluation standard for safety coefficient based on finite element method (FEM) limits the wide application of FEM in roller compacted concrete dam (RCCD). In this paper, the strength reserve factor (SRF) method is adopted to simulate gradual failure and possible unstable modes of RCCD system. The entropy theory and catastrophe theory are used to obtain the ultimate bearing resistance and failure criterion of the RCCD. The most dangerous sliding plane for RCCD failure is found using the Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) and auxiliary analysis of partial least squares regression (PLSR). Finally a method for determining the evaluation standard of RCCD safety coefficient based on FEM is put forward using least squares support vector machines (LSSVM) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The proposed method is applied to safety coefficient analysis of the Longtan RCCD in China. The calculation shows that RCCD failure is closely related to RCCD interface strength, and the Longtan RCCD is safe in the design condition. Considering RCCD failure characteristic and combining the advantages of several excellent algorithms, the proposed method determines the evaluation standard for safety coefficient of RCCD based on FEM for the first time and can be popularized to any RCCD.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of China’s container port industry, the emissions of air pollutants in port areas have been increasing. Cargo handling equipment as a non-road mobile source of emissions has become a focus of public attention. This article adopted a full activity-based “bottom-up” method to establish the inventory of emissions by cargo handling equipment at a container port. Drawing on the OFFROAD model, we conducted investigation and analysis of cargo handling equipment holdings, activity levels, and equipment-related parameters and modified the emission factors. The Nanjing Longtan Container Port was taken as a case study. Results show that in 2014, emissions by cargo handling equipment of the Nanjing Longtan Container Port were as follows: PM10 4.25 t, PM2.5 3.91 t, NOx 82.98 t, SOx 1.06 t, CO 23.84 t, and HC 16.39 t, all lower than results from an earlier research based on 2013 fuel consumption data. Cargo handling equipment produced more PM and HC emissions than any other emission source at the port. The method and main conclusions of this article provide support for future work on energy conservation and emission reduction in port areas.

Abstract:
To complement the current studies of risk assessment on water sources which seldom consider the distribution effects of multiple risk sources concentration, and improve the efficiency of water source supervision, this study establishes a method system for risk assessment of water sources and regulatory rating evaluation under the distribution effects of multiple risk sources concentration. The method system includes: (1) utilizing the single-risk source impact index to characterize the risk impact degree of the single-risk source on the water source, the index calculation method of single-risk source impact considers the risk degree and the distribution location of risk source; (2) using the multiple risk sources impact index to characterize the risk impact degree of the multiple risk sources on the water source, the index calculation method of multiple risk sources considers the impact index of single-risk source, the number of risk sources, and the distribution concentration of multiple risk sources; (3) the environmental risk assessment and regulatory rating evaluation method consider multiple risk sources impact index, anti-risk ability of water source, and the importance of water source. This method system has been applied to the environmental risk assessment and regulatory rating of eight water sources along the Nanjing Yangtze River, with excellent achievements. As the results reveal, eight water sources suffer 437 risk impacts from 175 risk sources, 69.04% of which are low-risk impacts and 13 are high-risk impacts. Longtan water source suffers the most risk impacts of 86, among which eight are high-risk impacts. The impacts of multiply-risk sources on the eight water sources are high-risk impacts. The impact index of multiple risk sources increases from the upstream water sources to the downstream water sources, reaching the maximum value of 5.267 at the most downstream Longtan water source. Though the environmental risk and supervision rating of Longtan water source is high, those of other water sources are rated as medium.

Abstract:
The occurrence of pyrite concretions in the Permian Longtan Formation sheds light on the paragenesis, formation conditions and regional paleoenvironment. We analyzed the mineral and geochemical characteristics of pyrite concretions using scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) from the Longtan Formation shales in Anhui, Eastern China. These pyrite concretions consist of two types, each with a distinct nucleus and outer layer: The former is mainly made up of quartz, bivalve fragments and minor gypsum, ankerite, siderite and pyrite, the latter consists of pyrite (FeS2) in the voids of quartz. Based on the correlation matrix and geochemical/mineralogical affinity, trace elements in the pyrite concretions fall into three groups, that is, I (Sr, Ba, Rb and K) in calcic minerals from bivalve-bearing nucleus, II (Nb, Ta, Zr and Hf) in certain heavy minerals and III (V, Cr, Co and Ni) in pyrites. Mineral assemblage and paragenetic analysis show that the formation of pyrite concretions can be divided into three stages: (1) deposition of bivalve-bearing nucleus, (2) lithification of diatoms and (3) diagenesis of pyrite. Mineral and geochemical indicators suggest that the formation environment of pyrite concretions has undergone a major shift from lagoon with intense evaporation, to strong reducing marsh.

This paper presents a comparative study of the performance of ferrate (VI) towards wastewater treatment. The ferrate was produced by microwave irradiation-assisted hypochlorite-oxidation method. And the concentration of the prepared ferrate was determined by UV-Vis spectrum. Domestic wastewater collected from Longting lake of Kaifeng city was treated with ferrate (VI). Samples were analyzed for COD and ammonia-nitrogen removal. Results demonstrated that low addition of ferrate (VI) leads to good removal of COD and ammonia nitrogen. So ferrate (VI) is an effective reagent for wastewater treatment.

AbstractThis study compares the chemical composition of cockle (Anadara granosa) and some commercially important marine (Asian seabass Lates calcarifer, grouper Epinephelus bleekeri, hardtail scad Megalaspis cordyla, longtail tuna Thunnus tonggol and Indian mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta) and freshwater (sutchi catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus, Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus and eel Monopterus albus) fishes in Peninsular Malaysia. The results show that the proximate composition and trace metal content were significantly different (P < 0.05) among species investigated. The mean protein content was the highest in eel (19.1%) and the lowest in sutchi catfish (13.0%) and cockle (13.0%). The mean lipid content of Indian mackerel (3.9%) was higher than cockle (2.0%), followed by eel (1.3%) and longtail tuna (0.8%). The mean ash content was the highest in Indian mackerel (1.4%) and the lowest in cockle (0.9%). Zinc and manganese contents in cockle (Zn: 61.2 mg kg−1, Mn: 22.7 mg kg−1) were very high compared to other species investigated. The copper content was minimum in sutchi catfish (1.0 mg kg−1) and a maximum in the hardtail scad (11.7 mg kg−1). Trace metal content in sutchi catfish, Nile tilapia, grouper, longtail tuna, eel and cockle followed an order Zn > Mn > Cu, whereas Asian seabass, hardtail scad and Indian mackerel followed a different order Zn > Cu > Mn. Trace metal content in the tissue of the fishes examined was within safe limits for human consumption except Mn content in the cockle and Cu content in the hardtail scad, which is a matter of concern. When considering the daily fish fat, mineral and trace metal intake, marine fishes and shellfish are better than freshwater fishes.
