Abstract:
A novel dinuclear gadolinium(III) complex of an amide linked bispolyazatricarboxylate macrocycle (DO3VA) having 2-bromoisovaleric acid pendant arm is reported. The molecular longitudinal relaxivity of the dinuclear complex [Gd2{acamidoet(DO3VA)2}(H2O)2] is 13.23mM–1s–1 which corresponds to a “per Gd” relaxivity of 6.62 mM–1 s–1 (20 MHz, 37 ± 0.1 °C, pH 7). The “per Gd” r1p value is higher than the relaxivity of the clinically approved CAs. The transverse relaxivity (r2p) of [Gd2{acamidoet(DO3VA)2}(H2O)2] is 14.34 mM–1 s–1. The r2p/r1p values of 1.08 indicate that the complex is T1-weighted CAs. The 2-bromoisovaleric acid seems to be an excellent pendant arm for holding Gd(III) metal ion at any pH. The remarkable stability of the complex at various pH and in presence of protein shows that the ligand can be used as functionality in making new CAs for MRI and the amide core is a versatile core molecule for the creation of polynuclear gadolinium(III) chelates and dendrimeric CAs.

I n term s o f spatia l and sectoral characteristics, the paper assesses the degree and dynamics of mobility in the Russian labour market based on previously published studies, as well as the authors’ findings. To determine the degree of mobility, the research uses various approaches, applying both direct (mobility costs, transition matrices) and indirect indicators (structural unemployment, wage differentiation, unemployment rate, gross regional product (GRP)). The analysis uses the data of the Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey — Higher School of Economics (RLMS-HSE) and Federal State Statistic Service (Rosstat) for 2000– 2016. The obtained results demonstrate a relatively low intersectoral and interregional mobility in Russia compared to Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. Low intersectoral mobility may indicate weak exchangeability of the sectors and high mobility costs. The largest number of transitions is observed in trade, where employees do not need any specific knowledge. Generally, other transitions are made between related sectors that require similar knowledge from employees. The lowest intersectoral mobility is characteristic for the education and health sectors. According to the Shorrocks index, in Russia, interregional mobility is lower than intersectoral mobility. Low spatial mobility is explained by high migration costs, including those associated with “poverty traps”, the peculiarity of statistical accounting of migrants and the size of Russian regions. The obtained results are correct for the examined period and the applied criteria. The changes in labour mobility in Russia caused by global digitalisation of the economy and the transition to remote working require a separate study.

Abstract:
There has recently been a surge in demand for multi-hull vessels for military and commercial purposes. The need for multi-hull ships increase from the necessity to balance speed and cargo requirements. Among others, the trimaran is one such hull type. The current study performs a CFD resistance analysis for trimaran as a parameter range of feasible hull forms based on the NPL systematic series. The resistance of trimaran hull shapes are calculated using CFXTM, a commercial CFD code that belongs to ANSYS. The trimaran model was tested at one fixed transverse separation (S/L=0.2) together with 3 longitudinal separations, R/L=0, 0.25, and 0.5, at different Froude numbers (based on length) from 0.2 to 0.6. Testing on the individual hull is also carried out to quantify the effect of resistance interference on the trimaran configuration. The CFD simulation results indicate that the trimaran model with side hulls parallel to the stern (R/L=0) has the least resistance. The interference effect of resistance on Trimaran with R/L=0, 0.25, 0.5 are 2.8%, 4.6%, 6.8% as opposed to non-interference trimaran model, respectively. These findings provide an approach for appropriately selecting the trimaran model with longitudinal side hull configurations.

Abstract:
This paper examines the long-term effect of various regulatory, bank-specific and macroeconomic factors on the determination of liquidity in Indian banks. For this purpose, the study uses a random effect panel data regression model and tests it with data on Indian banks for 21 years, covering the period from 1996 to 2016. The model considers the effect of regulatory factors, cash reserve ratio, and statutory liquidity, and incorporates four different liquidity ratios specific to the Indian banking scenario. The results of the analysis show contrasting relationships between the independent variables and the dependent variables measured by four liquidity ratios. It is interesting to note that Indian banks rely more on asset-based liquidity and less on liability-based liquidity. More specifically, the most important liquidity ratio of L1 (liquid assets to total assets ratio) showed a significant relationship with macroeconomic variables of discount rates, call rates, foreign exchange reserve, exchange rate with US dollar, consumer price index and gross domestic product. L1 also showed a significant relationship with bank-specific variables of capital to total assets and bank size. However, the regulatory factors of cash reserve ratio and profitability determined by return on equity (ROE) and non-performing assets were not found to have any effect on liquidity of Indian banks.

Abstract:
Taxes play a significant role in the social and economic development of counties. On the other hand, taxes represent a significant cost to firms; hence they devise legal ways to reduce their taxes through tax planning. In East Africa, the statutory tax rate of firms averages 30%, which is considered a major burden to the firms. As a result, this study aims to longitudinally examine the tax planning practices of listed firms in East Africa countries (EACs). The study used twelve-year annual reports of ninety-one firms from EACs. Both cash effective tax rate (CEFR) and accounting effective tax rate were employed as tax planning measures. Descriptive statistics together with Wilcoxon signed-ranked test were used to analyze the results. The study demonstrates the existence of corporate tax planning by the listed firms in EACs. The average CETR of the firms was 17% as opposed to the statutory tax rate of 30%, demonstrating that the firms actively engage in tax planning activities. The evidence further demonstrated a gradual decrease in the tax planning activities of the firms over the past twelve years. The study further found out that the rates of decline in the firms’ tax planning were statistically insignificant. Despite the decrease in the firms’ tax planning, the tax authorities in EACs should enforce tax laws to eliminate the tax planning problem.

Abstract:
The procedure of FEM calculations was presented in the paper. The numerical calculations concerned a simulation of crack distribution and propagation in concrete beams reinforced longitudinally without shear reinforcement. The analysis of the obtained FEM results showed different modes of failure in the beams when shear span-to-depth ratio was a/d = 2.5 and a/d = 1.8. In the analyzed beams, the ratio of longitudinal reinforcement and the mechanical properties of the steel bars were also changing parameters. The FEM results have showed that the shear failure of reinforced concrete beams without transverse reinforcement significantly depends on the ratio and yield strength of longitudinal steel bars. Furthermore, the results of numerical calculation for the beams of a/d = 2.5 were also juxtaposed with experiments performed by the author on two longitudinally reinforced concrete beams.

Abstract:
The present study investigates whether ethnic diversity among firms’ directors influences the decision to take goodwill write-offs, after considering the economic factors of impairment (measured in terms of the market capitalization indicator), reporting incentives, and firms’ internal governance. The analysis focuses on energy firms in Malaysia from 2006 to 2018. The regressions results based on binary logistics show that energy firms are less likely to take goodwill write-offs even when the market indicates the possibility for the write-offs. The results also show the absence of the direct relationship between goodwill impairment decisions and ethnic diversity of the board of directors. Nevertheless, the results reveal that board ethnicity moderates the relationship between firms’ goodwill impairment decisions and the market capitalization indicator, suggesting that as firms encounter increasing market indicator of impairment losses, the board with diverse ethnicity positively influences firms in taking goodwill write-offs. The results of the present study add to the literature on board diversity and firms’ decisions with regard to goodwill impairment by highlighting the beneficial roles of having ethnically diverse board of directors, in that they use the market indicator that goodwill may be impaired in their monitoring role on the goodwill impairment decisions. The results offer input to the policymakers by suggesting that to strengthen the monitoring roles of the board of directors, they need to be diverse and equipped with indicators that would assist them in their monitoring decisions. Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to compare the level of cognitive function, and physical, emotional, and social characteristics of elderly living alone according to their poverty status, and to longitudinally investigate the factors affecting cognitive function. The study included 660 the elderly living alone over the age of 65 who were selected from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) panel data from the fifth year(2014) to the eighth year(2020). Panel regression analysis with random effect model was used to determine the influence of physical, emotional, and social factors on cognitive function. The findings are as the followings: First, the poor elderly living alone were more vulnerable in cognitive function, sociodemographic, physical, and psychological aspects compared to the non-poor elderly living alone. Second, age, level of education, area of residence, religion, subjective health status, depression, life satisfaction, and frequency of contact with close friends were found to be common factors for the elderly living alone groups. Third, gender, activities of daily living, and exercise frequency were found to be factors affecting the cognitive function of the poor elderly living alone, and the number of chronic diseases was that of the non-poor elderly living alone. Through this, it is suggested that it is necessary to classify the elderly living alone according to living conditions such as poverty status. It is needed to be recognized that living alone is a natural form of life rather than an unconditional negative life. It is necessary to pay attention to identifying and supporting the high-level needs of the elderly living alone, such as the ability to live independently, perception of the meaning of life, and self-actualization.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this study, we investigated dual-language decline in non-balanced bilinguals with probable Alzheimer’s disease (AD) both longitudinally and cross-sectionally. We examined patients’ naming accuracy on the Boston Naming Test (BNT: Kaplan et al., 1983) over three testing sessions (longitudinal analysis) and compared their performance to that of matched controls (cross-sectional analysis). We found different longitudinal and cross-sectional patterns of decline: Longitudinally, the non-dominant language seemed to decline more steeply than the dominant language, but, cross-sectionally, differences between patients and controls were larger for the dominant than for the non-dominant language, especially at the initial testing session. This differential pattern of results for cross-sectional versus longitudinal decline was supported by correlations between decline measures and BNT item characteristics. Further studies will be needed to better characterize the nature of linguistic decline in bilinguals with AD; however, these results suggest that representational robustness of individual lexical representations, rather than language membership, might determine the time course of decline for naming in bilinguals with AD. Abstract:
Previously, we demonstrated concordance in differentially expressed genes in sarcoidosis blood and lung, implicating shared dysfunction of specific immune pathways. In the present study, we hypothesised that expression levels of candidate genes in sarcoidosis blood could predict and track with disease outcomes longitudinally. We applied Ingenuity Pathway Analysis to a cross-sectional derivation microarray dataset (n=38) to identify canonical pathways and candidate genes associated with sarcoidosis. In a separate longitudinal sarcoidosis cohort (n=103), we serially measured 48 candidate gene transcripts, and assessed their relation to disease chronicity and severity. In the cross-sectional derivation study, pathway analysis showed upregulation of genes related to interferon signalling and the role of pattern recognition receptors, and downregulation of T-cell receptor (TCR) signalling pathways in sarcoidosis. In the longitudinal cohort, factor analysis confirmed coregulation of genes marking these pathways and identified CXCL9 as an additional candidate pathway. CXCL9 and TCR factors discriminated between chronic versus nonprogressive disease, and CXCL9 predicted disease outcomes longitudinally. Interferon factor was similarly increased in both disease phenotypes. Factors associated with lung function decline included decreased TCR factor and increased CXCL9.These findings demonstrate blood transcriptomic signatures reflecting TCR signalling and CXCL9 predict sarcoidosis chronicity and correlate with disease severity longitudinally.

Abstract:
In studies on psychiatry and neurodegenerative diseases, it is common to have data that are correlated due to the hierarchical structure in data collection or to repeated measures on the subject longitudinally. However, the feedback effect created due to time-dependent covariates in these studies is often overlooked and seldom modelled. This article reviews the methodological development of feedback effects with marginal models for longitudinal data and discusses their implementation.

AbstractObjectivesAs smartphones and sensors become more prominently used in mobile health, the methods used to analyze the resulting data must also be carefully considered. The advantages of smartphone-based studies, including large quantities of temporally dense longitudinally captured data, must be matched with the appropriate statistical methods in order draw valid conclusions. In this paper, we review and provide recommendations in 3 critical domains of analysis for these types of temporally dense longitudinal data and highlight how misleading results can arise from improper use of these methods.Target AudienceClinicians, biostatisticians, and data analysts who have digital phenotyping data or are interested in performing a digital phenotyping study or any other type of longitudinal study with frequent measurements taken over an extended period of time.ScopeWe cover the following topics: 1) statistical models using longitudinal repeated measures, 2) multiple comparisons of correlated tests, and 3) dimension reduction for correlated behavioral covariates. While these 3 classes of methods are frequently used in digital phenotyping data analysis, we demonstrate via actual clinical studies data that they may sometimes not perform as expected when applied to novel digital data.

Abstract:
The primary sector plays a key role in any country, from both economic and social perspectives, as has been underscored by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In Europe, this sector is highly dependent on the aid provided under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Therefore, the distribution of this aid among the various recipients is crucial to maintaining a strong primary sector throughout the European Union (EU). This is especially true in light of the new funding for the period from 2021 to 2027 and the United Kingdom's departure from the EU. In this sense, the 93.5% of the first pillar of CAP aid consists of direct aid to farmers. The related literature has shown its effect on aspects such as sustainability and farmers' income, among others, and its distribution in specific geographical areas. In this vein, the present paper conducts a longitudinal and cross-sectional analysis of the distribution of aid across EU countries. The results show that the CAP reforms and the incorporation of countries into the EU influenced the distribution of aid. Moreover, there is a clear division between Eastern and Western EU countries, with a more equitable distribution of aid in the West.

Abstract:
ObjectiveNeuropathological studies in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) have shown a dissemination in a regional sequence in four anatomically defined patterns. The aim of this retrospective study was to see whether longitudinal diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data support the pathological findings.MethodsThe application of DTI analysis to fibre structures that are prone to be involved at each neuropathological pattern of ALS was performed in a monocentre sample of 67 patients with ALS and 31 controls that obtained at least one follow-up scan after a median of 6 months.ResultsAt the group level, longitudinal ALS data showed significant differences for the stage-related tract systems. At the individual level, 27% of the longitudinally scanned patients with ALS showed an increase in ALS stage, while the remaining were stable or were at the highest ALS stage. Longitudinal fractional anisotropy changes in the respective tract systems correlated significantly with the slope of the revised ALS functional rating scale.InterpretationThe DTI-based protocol was able to image the disease patterns of ALS in vivo cross-sectionally and longitudinally, in support of DTI as a technical marker to image ALS stages.

Abstract:
In this meta-analysis, we aimed to evaluate the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationships between various forms of sleep problems and loneliness. A total of 84 articles (110 samples, N = 227,112) were identified for inclusion. Random effects models revealed a significant medium association between overall sleep problems and loneliness ( r = .336, 95% confidence interval = [.315, .357]) as well as specific sleep complaints (i.e., insomnia, nightmares, poor sleep efficiency, and poor sleep quality) and loneliness ( rs = .165–.354). The longitudinal relationships between overall sleep problems and subsequent loneliness, and vice versa, were also significant ( rs = .249–.297). Although no consistent moderation patterns emerged, several significant moderators were identified for specific associations. Results support a robust association between more severe sleep problems and greater perceptions of loneliness; both also appear reciprocally associated longitudinally. Findings point to research directions that may enhance understanding of the interplay between sleep problems and loneliness—constructs with transdiagnostic relevance.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: Diffuse axonal injury occurs with high acceleration and deceleration forces in traumatic brain injury (TBI). This lesion leads to disarrangement of the neuronal network, which can result in some degree of deficiency. The Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS-E) is the primary outcome instrument for the evaluation of TBI victims. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) assesses white matter (WM) microstructure based on the displacement distribution of water molecules. Objective: To investigate WM microstructure within the first year after TBI using DTI, the patient’s clinical outcomes, and associations. Methods: We scanned 20 moderate and severe TBI victims at 2 months and 1 year after the event. Imaging processing was done with the FMRIB software library; we used the tract-based spatial statistics software yielding fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD) for statistical analyses. We computed the average difference between the two measures across subjects and performed a one-sample t-test and threshold-free cluster enhancement, using a corrected p-value < 0.05. Clinical outcomes were evaluated with the GOS-E. We tested for associations between outcome measures and significant mean FA clusters. Results: Significant clusters of altered FA were identified anatomically using the JHU WM atlas. We found increasing spotted areas of FA with time in the right brain hemisphere and left cerebellum. Extensive regions of increased MD, RD, and AD were observed. Patients presented an excellent overall recovery. Conclusions: There were no associations between FA and outcome scores, but we cannot exclude the existence of a small to moderate association.

Abstract:
BackgroundLongitudinal data arise frequently in psychiatric investigations, and are most often analysed by multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) procedures. However, as routinely applied, the method is not satisfactory, particularly when the data are affected by subjects dropping-out of the study. More suitable methods are now available.MethodProblems with the MANOVA approach are discussed and the advantages of alternative procedures stressed.ResultsUsing MANOVA on complete cases to analyse unbalanced longitudinal data can be seriously misleading. More recently developed methods are far more suitable, but only if the missing values are non-informative.ConclusionsRoutine use of MANOVA for the analysis of longitudinal data, particularly when there is a substantial proportion of drop-outs, is ill advised. Statisticians have considerably enriched the available methodologies during the past decade, and psychiatric researchers dealing with such data should be aware of the advantages of the newer methods.

Abstract:
In recent years, with the development of high-speed rail in China, bridge has a higher proportion in the lines. Every year earthquake occurs many times accidentally in China. In order to ensure the target performance of bridges under earthquake action, we need to be based on the seismic analysis. Only have a deep knowledge of seismic effect discipline, can we enable to guide seismic design economically and reasonably and achieve predetermined target performance. Our study shows that the main vibration mode is a combination of the longitudinal or lateral translation or the revolution around Z axis. Under high-level earthquake, the maximal displacements of side piers and the fixed pier are larger, the maximal longitudinal pier shaft moment of the fixed pier (No.3) or No.5 pier in lateral direction is larger. But the value that exceeds the yield moment is small, which indicates that the development of plasticity is little. The longitudinal shear force of the bearings on the same pier are the same, bearings fixed longitudinally own the largest value. Even bearings whose lateral directions are fixed on the same pier own larger forces. Seen from average maximum values of bearings, all bearings are at the second stage, meeting the requirements that we don’t need to repair or slightly repair the bridge to make it act normally once after an earthquake.
