Abstract:
The ground magnetic field of the Lonar impact crater (Maharashtra State, India) and its surrounding area was measured and studied utilizing 2.5-dimensional potential field modelling. Field data showed the crater depression is associated with a strong circular negative anomaly with an amplitude of more than 1000 nT. The negative anomaly, however, decreases smoothly while moving from south to north. Most of the crater rim exhibits anomalous positive values. Negative anomalies at the rim are seen in the south–southwestern sections and coinciding in the northeastern section with the Dhar valley. Our study shows that most of the anomaly is caused by the topographic effect and a strong SE directed natural remanent magnetization of Deccan Trap basalts, which are the target of the Lonar-creating projectile. The magnetic anomaly of the relatively weakly magnetized impact-produced allochthonous breccia and post-impact sediments is small, being less than 150 nT.

Abstract:
Responses to bradykinin (BK) were investigated in the pulmonary vascular bed of the cat under conditions of controlled pulmonary blood flow and constant left atrial pressure when lobar arterial pressure was elevated to a high steady level. Under elevated-tone conditions, BK caused dose-related decreases in lobar arterial pressure. After administration of Hoe-140, a BK B2-receptor antagonist, vasodilator responses to BK were reduced in a selective manner. Vasodilator responses to BK were unchanged by atropine, glibenclamide, meclofenamate, or bronchial occlusion, suggesting that responses are not dependent on the activation of muscarinic receptors or K+ATP channels, the release of vasodilator prostaglandins, or changes in bronchomotor tone. The nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitors N omega-nitro-L-arginine benzyl ester and N omega-nitro-L-arginine reduced vasodilator responses to BK in a selective manner, indicating that responses to BK are mediated in part by the release of NO. Methylene blue, an inhibitor of the activation of soluble guanylate cyclase, increased lobar arterial pressure and decreased responses to BK. The increases in lobar arterial pressure in response to methylene blue were partially reversed by the administration of superoxide dismutase, indicating that generation of O2- may inactivate basally released NO. The duration of the response to BK was enhanced by the guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP) phosphodiesterase inhibitor Zaprinast, suggesting that responses to BK involve increases in cGMP levels. Responses to BK were enhanced by captopril, indicating that BK is rapidly inactivated by kininase II in the lung.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Abstract:
Background: Intracerebral hemorrhage is a bleeding in the brain’s parenchyma that can extend into the ventricles, and in rare cases into the subarachnoid area. The effects of hemorrhage volume are from mild to severe clinical symptoms due to the increased intracranial pressure. Head CT scan is used to rule out other causes than stroke. Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation of intracerebral hemorrhage volume and hemorrhage site with mortality of hemorrhagic stroke patients based on head CT scan tests.Design: This research used analytic observational methods to conduct a positive correlation assessment of volume and hemorrhage site with mortality in intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke patients. The study used a cross-sectional design with retrospective data. Data were assessed from 55 cases consisting of 29 men and 26 women. Results: The commonest hemorrhage was found in 24 cases (43.6%) in ganglia basalis, 15 cases (27.3%) in lobus parietalis and 8 cases (14.5%) in pons. Blood volume decreased to 25 cc in 35 cases (63.6%), 25-50 cc in 13 cases (23.6%), and decreased to more than 50 cc in 7 cases (12.7%). Correlations of contingency coefficient tests between mortality and hemorrhage site in lobar were (r=0.049, p=0.714), in deep artery territories (r=0.170, p=0.200) and in brain stem (r=0.298, p=0.020). Meanwhile, correlations between mortality and decreased blood volume to 25 cc were (r=0.589, p=0.000), in 25-50 cc (r=0.406, p=0.001) and for blood volume more than 50 cc (r=0.437, p=0.000).Conclusions: There was positive correlation between mortality and hemorrhage site in brain stem while in lobar and in deep artery territories there was no correlation with mortality and hemorrhage site. There were positive correlations between intracerebral hemorrhage volume and mortality with moderate correlation strength.

Abstract:
The report deals with the case of a 10-year-old girl with chronic cystic fibrosis. She has been repeatedly treated at the hospital. She has been hospitalized due to respiratory deterioration. Cystic fibrosis is a rare disease, inherited autosomaly recessively, but is very complex in terms of diagnostic and treatment (2). The diagnosis is confirmed based on a clinical picture of the child, measure of Chloride in the sweat, chest X-ray, CT thorax, laboratory findings--genetic confirmation CFTR ( cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) genes (3), which result in the production of hyper-viscous mucus and chloride malabsorption in the sweat glands ducts (5,6). Bronchial thickening and plugging and ring shadows suggesting bronchiectasis, segmental or lobar atelectasis are often. Computer tomography of the chest can be used to detect and localize thickening of bronchial airways walls, mucus plugging, hyperinflation and early bronchieactasiae. Pulmonary therapy: the object is to clear secretions from airways and to control infection (7). The diagnosis is originally set when she was 4 years old. She is now admitted due to a deterioration of the main disease. Day before admission in the hospital had a higher bodily temperature, cough and difficult breathing. She already treated conservatively (Ceftazidim, Ceftriakson, Kloksacillin) Since the girl is a chronic patient with bronchiectasie chronic walls of bronchi changes full of the mucus, who is not responding to conservative treatment (antibiotics), therapeutic and diagnostic flexible bronchoscopy had to be performed, resulting in a gram-negative bacteria pseudomonas aeruginosa--a typical bacteria for chronically sick C. F. PATIENT: A pseudomonas therapy was prescribed according to the sensitive antibiogram, during which bronchoscopy was given locally on changes mucous pulmozyme and garamycin. Flexible bronchoscopy was performed as therapeutic. Local bronchoscopy findings:by aspiration of tracheo-bronchal truncus it was found hyperemia and a lot of mucous sticky secretion inside of tracheobronchal tree, especially middle lobe right side, lingual and basals part of the lungs. It was performed broncho-alveolar lavage and given steroids on the place of changed inflamed mucous membrane of the bronchi. It was also given pulmozyme to destroid mucous and make better spontaneously expectorations. Control chest x ray was performed and it was better.

Black, Benjamin A., and Maryjo Brounce. "Linking impact melt redox with crustal weathering regime." Geology, August 8, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.1130/g51405.1.

Full text
Abstract:
Impact melting and outgassing of impact melts were important processes shaping the crust and atmosphere of early Earth and Mars. The redox state of impact melts influences the gases they release, but the controls on impact melt redox are not well understood. Here, we present Fe micro−X-ray absorption near edge structure (μ-XANES) measurements of a suite of impact melt glasses from Lonar crater, India. As an impact into continental flood basalts, Lonar crater is an ideal analog for impacts into basaltic crust on early Earth and Mars. The Fe-μ-XANES technique permits robust characterization of the Fe3+/ΣFe ratio and therefore redox conditions in Lonar glasses. We found a range in Fe3+/ΣFe of 0.21−0.49 among Lonar glasses, including substantial intraclast variations. We conclude that a primary factor driving these variations was pre-impact oxidative weathering of target rocks. The coupling between crustal weathering regime and speciation of gases released from impact melts implies that impact melt outgassing could act as a feedback mechanism to reinforce prevailing surface redox conditions.

Abstract:
AbstractThe study investigates Curie temperature (TC), bulk magnetic susceptibility, hysteresis, and X-ray diffraction pattern of in situ target basalts of Lonar impact crater, India. The main magnetic phase in the target basalt is low-Ti titanomagnetite. This study reveals an increase in TC and decrease in magnetic susceptibility and in full width at half maxima of the 311 peaks of titanomagnetite with distance from the crater center. Changes in crystal lattice of titanomagnetite, such as straining of 311 peaks, decrease in apparent crystallite size, and grain fragmentation may be among the possible reasons for the observed trends in TC and magnetic susceptibility. However, they both do not show any correlation between each other, indicating that different shock-induced processes affect them.

Abstract:
Summary The Lonar impact crater in the Deccan Volcanic Province of India is an excellent analogue for impact-induced structures on the Moon and other terrestrial planets. We present a detailed architecture of the crater using a high-resolution 3-D seismic velocity image to a depth of 1.5 km through the inversion of high-frequency ambient noise data recorded over 20 broadband seismographs operating around the crater. The ambient noise waveform is dominated by cultural noise in the 1-10 Hz band. The shear wave velocity (Vs) model is created from Rayleigh wave group velocity data with a horizontal resolution of 0.5–1 km in the period range of 0.1–1.2 s. A key feature of the model is a velocity reduction of 10–15 per cent below the crater compared to outside the ejecta zone. The low-velocity zone below the crater is nearly circular and extends to a depth of ∼500 m. This estimated crater's depth is consistent with global depth-diameter scaling relations for simple craters. The basement, with a Vs of more than 2.5 km/s, lies beneath the Deccan basalt, which has a Vs of ∼2.4 km/s. These results are consistent with laboratory-measured data from the Lonar crater and borehole data in the western Deccan trap. This study opens a new window for exploring impact craters and sub-basalt structures using high-frequency ambient noise tomography.

Abstract:
Abstract:Pilomatrixoma is a benign adnexal tumor. It has an infrequent histopathological variant called proliferating pilomatrixoma reported in 1997 by Kaddu et al. It corresponds to a lesion composed predominantly by a lobar proliferation of basaloid cells, with variable nuclear atypia and mitotic figures, focal areas containing eosinophilic cornified material, together with shadow cells. The proliferating pilomatrixoma was proposed as a distinctive histopathological subset of the pilomatrixoma and was considered as a proliferative variant with a benign histopathological profile. Dermatoscopy in this tumor, especially in elderly patients, can result in a dermatoscopic trap, which makes it difficult to differentiate from other lesions, such as melanoma or basal cell carcinoma. There are multiple reports of cases in the literature where classic or proliferating pilomatrixomas were reported simulating other neoplasms. We present the case of an 88-year-old patient with a proliferating facial pilomatrixoma that clinically simulated a squamous cell carcinoma and led to an initial diagnostic confusion, highlighting the histopathological and clinical characteristics of the proliferating pilomatrixoma.

Abstract:
