Abstract:
Abstract Locus control regions (LCRs) are operationally defined by their ability to enhance the expression of linked genes to physiological levels in a tissue-specific and copy number–dependent manner at ectopic chromatin sites. Although their composition and locations relative to their cognate genes are different, LCRs have been described in a broad spectrum of mammalian gene systems, suggesting that they play an important role in the control of eukaryotic gene expression. The discovery of the LCR in the β-globin locus and the characterization of LCRs in other loci reinforces the concept that developmental and cell lineage–specific regulation of gene expression relies not on gene-proximal elements such as promoters, enhancers, and silencers exclusively, but also on long-range interactions of variouscis regulatory elements and dynamic chromatin alterations.

Abstract:
The youth are treated as a psychological age, during which the transition to independence, a period of self-determination, the acquisition of psychological, ideological and civic maturity occurs, outlook, moral consciousness and self-consciousness are formed. This article highlights features of the development of the locus of control at a young age. The concept of locus of control and its types is disclosed. Also described are the factors that influence the formation of the activity of behavioural activity and attitudes of subjects in adolescence, namely - its formation depends on both internal (subjective) and external (objective) factors. However, the perception of the world through one type of locus is crucial: internal (internal) or by the external (external) locus of control. The relevance of the study is due to the needs of both theoretical and practical needs. First of all, the need to follow how the locus of control directs the young man's actions in the direction necessary for his development. Central to the development of psychological tumours is the emergence of phenomena of consciousness during adolescence and adolescence, which dramatically changes the behaviour of the young man towards himself and the world, as he becomes able to make choices independently, based on personal principles and values and be responsible for the choice made. It is also conditioned by the importance of the process of self-determination of personality, which is the most important goal during the adolescence. In this regard, it is clear that the question of the locus of control, like the search for oneself, is receiving attention in psychology. Thus, the term locus of control allows us to trace the significant moments of manifestations of activity in the behavioural activity and relationships of subjects. What is the reason for the change in emotional and behavioural responses is due to the lack of people with a predominant external or internal locus of control.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis presents rules that characterize the root locus for polynomials that are nonlinear in the root-locus parameter k. Classical root locus applies to polynomials that are affine in k. In contrast, this thesis considers polynomials that are quadratic or cubic in k. In particular, we focus on constructing the root locus for linear feedback control systems, where the closed-loop denominator polynomial is quadratic or cubic in k. First, we present quadratic root-locus rules for a controller class that yields a closed-loop denominator polynomial that is quadratic in k. Next, we develop cubic root-locus rules for a controller class that yields a closed-loop denominator polynomial that is cubic in k. Finally, we extend the quadratic root-locus rules to accommodate a larger class of controllers. We also provide controller design examples to demonstrate the quadratic and cubic root locus. For example, we show that the triple integrator can be high-gain stabilized using a controller that yields a closed-loop denominator polynomial that is quadratic in k. Similarly, we show that the quadruple integrator can be high-gain stabilized using a controller that yields a closed-loop denominator polynomial that is cubic in k.

Abstract:

The study aimed to investigate whether there are correlations between conscientiousness, Lo-cus of Control and job motivation, and if age and length of service predict job motivation. The study comprised 63 staff (28 women and 35 men) at a telecommunications company in Swe-den. To study conscientiousness, we used a self-constructed test with good internal homo-geneity, Cronbach's alpha = .85. To study Locus of Control and job motivation we used al-ready developed tests, with high validity and reliability, created by Rotter (1966) and Cam-mann, Fichman, Jenkins and Klesh ( in Bowling & Hammond 2008). Statistical tests, using both bivariate correlations such as Spearman's rho and standard and hierarchical MRA showed significant relationship between conscientiousness and job motivation. Using stan-dard MRA shows that only conscientiousness predicts aspects of motivation. Neither age nor length of service predicted aspects of motivation, which is not consistent with previous re-search. The discussion is carried on effect on the outcome in relation to previous research.

Abstract:
Resultatet visades i första hand gälla förstfödda män.

Abstract:
Counterfactual thinking is the tendency to view events that can easily be imagined otherwise as events that ought not to have been (Miller & Turnbull, 1990). Thirty-six male and sixty-five female subjects from introductory psychology courses completed a counterfactual thinking questionnaire and two personality measures assessing locus of control (Rotter Locus of Control Scale) and self-esteem (Texas Social Behavior Inventory). Results supported the hypothesis that people are more likely to generate counterfactual thoughts when their actions are perceived as easily mutable or when an event is easily imagined otherwise. Results also indicated that women were more likely to mutate events than were men. Finally, participants with high self-esteem were more likely to mutate events than were participants with low self-esteem. Results provided no evidence for a relationship between counterfactual thinking and locus of control. Factors that might have reduced the impact of the individual difference variables are considered.

Abstract: This dissertation, in alternate format, with the presentation of a chapter addresses the theme of early weaning. Early weaning has numerous disadvantages for the child and the mother, being associated with increased infant morbidity and mortality. It is estimated that 1.5 million infants will die due to inadequate nutrition, introduced before the sixth month of life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between early weaning, pre and postnatal variables and Mother's locus of control. A retrospective cohort study was performed using instruments that investigated the socioeconomic and demographic indicators, pre variables and postpartum, and the multidimensional scale of Levenson's locus of control. The sample consisted of 410 mothers of children aged 0-5 years who were present on the day of national childhood immunization campaign against polio, held in June 2013, the Health Department of the city of Piracicaba-SP . Statistical analysis was performed using hierarchical multiple logistic regression, evaluating the association between the dependent variable, early weaning and the following socio-demographic independent variables: family income, number of people in the home, housing, degree of maternal and paternal education , householder and profession of parents. The variables related to early weaning and pre and post-delivery were maternal and paternal age, marital status, age and child gender, parity, breastfeeding experience and information on the initiation of prenatal care, type of delivery, problems during childbirth with the mother and / or with the child, remained in the accommodation, initiation of breastfeeding, access to information on breastfeeding and lactation management, desire to breastfeed, unplanned pregnancy, breast complications, pacifier use and bottle, return to work and grandmother participation. The scale Levenson, composed of three subscales - internality, other powerful external and external to chance. These variables were divided into blocks, the first composed of maternal characteristics, the second by Baby Birth characteristics and the third involving baby characteristics and care. In this way, were tested in the multilevel model variables with p?0,20 of each block, remaining in the model those who remained associated with weaning with p = 0.05 after adjustment for the variables of the same block and ending with the hierarchically superior. The results showed that the prevalence of early weaning was 40%. Statistically significant association between early weaning and the variable low maternal education (95% CI = 1.18 to 3.22; p = 0.0131), no previous experience in nursing (95% CI = 3.76 to 9, 75, p = <0.0001) and pacifier use (95% CI = 1.78 to 4.17; p = <0.0001). There was no association between the type of locus of control and early weaning. It was found to have higher levels of maternal education, previous experience in breastfeeding and not offer child pacifiers are protective factors for breastfeeding

Caselman, Gabrielle, and Julia Dodd. "An Exploration of Locus of Control: The Mediating Effect of Locus of Control Among Victims of Sexual Trauma." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2019. https://dc.etsu.edu/etsu-works/7330.

Full text
Abstract:
Locus of control has been associated with health outcomes (Donham et al., 1983; Holder & Levi, 1988) as well as interactions with the health care field (Christensen et al., 1996) and has independently predicted health outcomes among victims of sexual trauma (Simoni & Ng, 2002). As such, it may help to explain adverse health outcomes associated with sexual trauma. The current study sought to examine the potential mediating factor that an individual’s locus of control may have on the relationship between history of sexual trauma and health outcomes/health care interactions. Locus of control was measured via the Levenson Locus of Control Scales (Levenson, 1981) which divides locus of control into three subscales: internal locus of control, powerful others, and chance. Among a sample of women aged 18-50 years old (N = 753), an internal locus of control significantly mediated the relationship between sexual trauma and health outcomes (somatic symptoms, self-rated health, depression, and anxiety) as well as the relationship between sexual trauma and health care interactions (an individual’s level of medical mistrust and medical nonadherence). While each external locus of control scale did significantly predict outcomes, they were not significant mediators. Findings indicate the importance of internal locus of control in understanding sexual trauma’s effect on health outcomes.

Abstract:
The article addresses the subject of shyness and its relationship with the locus of subjective control in adolescents. The research revealed that the higher the level of shyness, the more difficult it is to internalize subjective control, the more pronounced the tendency to externalize. Adolescents with a high level of shyness more often feel feelings of inferiority, lack of confidence in their own strength, and believe that both good and less pleasant things depend on factors external to them, on other people, on various circumstances, chance, chance etc. They feel that they cannot control the events that happen in their lives, they feel influenced and embarrassed by the opinions of others about them, which blocks the courage and determination to act, to achieve their goals. The reduced level of shyness directly correlates with the tendency to internalize subjective control. Adolescents with a low level of shyness believe to a greater extent that they themselves can have control over important events in their lives, that they are less determined by chance, fate, or other people.
