Abstract:
Regional library local history is a comprehensive library activity requiring special professional training. The author reveals the issue of teaching library local history at library higher schools; searched educational publications on local history in the electronic catalogues of libraries and bibliographic indices. It was revealed 48 academic publications on library local history for 1930-2014. The study objective is to trace the evolution of educational publications on the problems of teaching librarian local history in a library higher school. It was presented the analysis of textbooks on the following features: types of educational publications, authors, scientific schools and content. The study revealed expanding diversity of educational publications on library local history, from single programs, lectures to textbooks, educational-methodical complexes and electronic textbooks. At the same time, it was found out a lack of new integrated textbooks, «fragmentation» in teaching and representing certain aspects of local librarian history in educational work, insufficient number of electronic textbooks and absence of interactive electronic educational materials for universities. The fundamentals of teaching local librarian history were started by two scientific schools in St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture and Moscow State Institute of Culture. The formation of the library local history as an educational course is associated with the name of N. V. Zdobnov. The largest contribution to the development of educational-methodological support for library local history was made by A. V. Mamontov and N. N. Shcherba. The substantive aspect of educational-methodological support for library local history can be divided into three stages. The first stage (1930-1970) is related to the study of local history bibliography only. The second period (1980-1990) is characterized by creating a number of editions covering general problems of regional studies of library local history and library activities on local history study. In 1990s preconditions appeared to expand study of various aspects of library local history. IIt was connected with changes in the state policy of regional development, as well as a growing interest in regional/local history information. The third stage (2000-2010s) of the evolution of educational publications is related, on the one hand, to a more expanded study of some specific aspects of library local librarian (bibliographic processing of local history documents, local history fund or management of local history activities, etc.), on the other hand, to a complex representation of regional studies in cooperation of libraries, archives, museums and other institutions dealing with issues of local history in the region.

At one side, the comprehensive history teaching will develop contextual nationalism spirit to the youth but at the other side, the phenomenon of regional autonomy implementation and local politic dynamics in the reformation era will challenge the existence of the nationality spirit, due to the spirits emerged and strengthened are the ethnocentrism, ethnicity, social conflict, and separatism. Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report on a qualitative study that examined how pre-service teachers (PSTs) used mobile technology and experiential learning to critically examine the processes that shape places over time. During Summer course work that occurred prior to beginning their field experience and student teaching, participants explored neighborhoods and public spaces, and researched the history as well as contemporary issues relevant to the places in which their future students live, play, work, shop, and go to school. The use of social media as a forum for sharing and reflecting upon their experiences provided opportunity to critique neoliberal and race-based public policies, as well as support reflection on the relationships between geography and teaching about social (in)justice in the social studies. Findings inform the work of teacher educators who seek to help teacher candidates think more deeply about how spatial contexts inform culturally sustaining and critically minded pedagogy in the social studies. Design/methodology/approach This qualitative study included pre- and post-surveys and two one-on-one interviews between research participants and the researcher. Data were also gathered through the use of posts made by participants to a shared social media account. Interested in the interactive process of subjects and their surroundings, symbolic interactionism provided the methodological framework for this study. Findings Involvement in the study provided PSTs with new ways of thinking about how places are shaped over time and the importance of incorporating local intersections of geography and injustice in the classroom. Through experiential learning, PSTs developed a critical understanding of how place relates to who they teach, moved away from deficit thinking about people and places, and, as evidenced in the examples shared, approached lesson planning as place-relevant and culturally sustaining social studies educators. Originality/value The majority of students enrolled in teacher education courses in the USA remains white and it is well documented that most possess few cultural and geographic ties to the schools and students they work with as PSTs. Interested in the intersection of race, place, and teacher education, this paper discusses research conducted with 12 pre-service secondary social studies teachers (PSTs) who were enrolled in an eight-week Summer seminar course that preceded their Fall field experience and Spring student teaching placements to learn how they interpret their movement through spaces and their understanding of how geography, race, and agency intersect and impact students.

Abstract:
This study aims to determine the relevance of local history learning to increasing critical thinking skills. Today's critical thinking skills have become the main ability students must have, but the history learning application which still tends to focus on improving students' cognitive by requiring students to memorize historical facts, makes students not have the opportunity to think critically. The lack of discussion of local history is also a problem in itself for learning history, even though local history can help students find meaning in learning history by examining events that are close to the student's environment. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest and posttest design. The results obtained indicate that historical learning that integrates local history using a contextual teaching and learning approach can improve students' critical thinking skills, this can be proven by the t test which was carried out by obtaining a significance of 0.00 <0.05, meaning that there is a significant and positive influence on history learning. local to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of scientific literature devoted to the study of the linguistic local history direction of language learning. The aim of the work is to describe the origins of Russian linguistic local history, regional onomastics based on the use of textological analysis, descriptive method, elements of comparative and comparative-historical methods. The material of the research is presented by works that have a linguistic local history character, starting from the 30s of 18th century. Based on the analysis of scientific works of the 18th and early 19th centuries, including the linguistic local history component, the author comes to the following conclusions. Since the first third of the 18th century in Russia, there have been some fragmentary attempts at linguistic local lore commenting when describing settlements by historians, geographers, physicians, and biologists who participated in research expeditions across Russia. Of particular importance in this respect was the historical and regional studies activities of V.N. Tatishchev, who compiled detailed questions for the study of settlements in Russia, prepared the first part of the “Lexicon of Russian historical, geographical, political and civil”. The material of the research shows that the origins of scientific linguistic regional studies in Russia are associated with the activities of V.K. Trediakovsky and M.V. Lomonosov. M.V. Lomonosov consistently introduced the linguistic local history component into the research methodology, which was applied in practice in the compilation of the “Russian grammar”, in the organization of centralized work on the historical and geographical study of Russian settlements, in the development of the foundations of teaching Russian students in their native language. M.V. Lomonosov is the founder of the linguistic local history direction in Russian linguistics. The beginning of scientific regional onomastic research is associated with the activities of E.A. Bolkhovitinov, who for the first time in 1800 gave a detailed historical and linguistic description of the toponymy and microtoponymy of the Voronezh Territory.

Abstract:
History teachers are continually seeking new ways in which they can actively involve their students and allow them to think more creatively. Creating local history projects allows students to look beyond the information on the pages of their text and forces them to look deeper into the history of their local environment. Properly constructed community and local history projects assist students in “actually doing history” and engage them in authentic activities directly related to the study of history. As educators, we need to utilize the communities in which we live, because they offer a wealth of opportunities for learning and continue to be one of the least tapped resources for social studies teaching (Martorella, 1998). Presented in this paper are methods and resources that can be used when conducting local histories in the K-12 classrooms in a manner encouraging students to engage in historical inquiry in authentic and meaningful ways.

The article is devoted to the effectiveness of the use of local lore material in mountainousterrain schools to improve student achievement in the development of their cognitive interest. Inparticular, the analysis of the role of the school in the development of Ukrainian Carpathianmountain areas of education and younger generation training. Attention is drawn to the fact thatduring the organization of the educational process in schools of mountainous terrain ,we are totake into consideration rather high level of spirituality of Highlanders, their love for their land ,traditions and customs. Therefore, during the lessons of social and humanitarian course the teacheris to use local history material that will provide development of students cognitive interest. Theauthors in the experimental studies process demonstrated that the organization of learning thehistory of Ukraine in the 5th grade should be directed to the development of cognitive interest inhistory. So, the children in the 5th grade will not have to study the whole history. They are to beprepared to gradually assimilate to it according to the curriculum. A critical factor in successfullearning is to form cognitive interest. To make the learning process easier and more interesting theteacher must offer his/her students the curriculum material which they would not only feel, butalso easily understand. The students must realize that it's not about teaching something/someoneunknown, but about themselves, their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, family, region, country. Therefore, the initial training should dominate local history material, allowing thedevelopment of cognitive interest in history, lay the foundations of historical knowledge andprovide increasing levels of students’ achievements. This is ensured by a parallel study of thehistory of the native land. The authors defined teaching and learning requirements for local lorematerial to be used in the process of study and presented their own examples .

Abstract:
This paper investigates History education in Uganda by interrogating data emerging from interviews with secondary History teachers. Two strands of literature are brought to the data analysis: one strand relates to how decolonisation has been conceptualised in interpretations of History education in Uganda; a second strand relates to what the most appropriate pedagogies might be to underpin History teaching and learning in this postcolonial setting. The pedagogical text is informed by the work of Bruner, Vygotsky and Hedegaard. This work feeds into reflections on how mutuality (Boyanton, 2015) and opportunities for dialogue, ownership and internalisation might be established and developed. We explore how psychological, social, emotional and cultural aspects of learning play a part in establishing a link between identity, relevance and significance which takes into account how teachers and learners give and receive value through a search for authenticity. The research findings confirm the need for students to be able to see themselves in the narrative, but they also include recognition of a broader imperative to understand the personal and local within wider regional and global contexts.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to study the consequences of Primo de Rivera’s dictatorship on women educators, focusing our interest on repression and internal exile during this totalitarian period. Our study takes as its starting point the conceptual debate on inner exile as a consequence of totalitarian regimes and their repercussions on female educators. The analysis of the research shows the mechanisms of reaction of some female teachers to the control, local despotism and punitivism that was exercised over the teaching profession during this regime. At the same time, it has allowed us to demonstrate with some examples the oppressive context of the female teaching collective, contributing to the reconstruction of some trajectories during the inner exile of two teacher trainers: Gloria Giner and Concepción Alfaya.
