Abstract:

A man-machine interface in natural language for a DataBase Management System (DBMS) called VORAS, based upon semantics, is presented. This DBMS can also be used for knowledge representation, and is well-suited to the design of queries in natural language. The system VORAS is an object-oriented DBMS developed from a specific model of representation called the Property Driven Model (PDM). A user may write a query in natural language. Most of the analysis is done at a semantic level. A syntactic level has been added, to improve the performance of the system. However, it is still possible to use a short-hand style.

Abstract:Clinical decision support systems assist in diagnosis, alert to abnormal conditions, and manage patient data. Such systems tend to emphasize one of these features at the expense of the others and tend to be developed on an ad hoc basis. In this work, a technique is developed for creating an integrated clinical decision support system wholly within a general-purpose object-oriented database management system. The diagnostic and alerting requirements are accomplished with encapsulated methods and a novel use of the object-oriented database management class-hierarchy structure. The patient data management requirement is satisfied by the normal data management capabilities of the object-oriented DBMS.

Abstract:

Large urban household surveys produce a huge quantity of data, generally processed with database management systems (DBMS). In most cases, data are compiled, aggregated, and then integrated in traditional transportation models. Based on another perspective, the totally disagregate approach (TDA) uses a unified survey data file in which every piece of information is preserved. The data file is used for individual analysis of households, people, and trips. The addition of an object-oriented modeling to the totally disaggregate approach permits the instantiation of survey data into objects. These objects are manipulated along with their properties and methods. New objects are derived from survey declaration and then reused in the process: status, trip generators. The enriched object-model is used for visualization, analysis, and presentation. This widens the possibilities of usage of household survey data.Key words: urban transportation, household surveys, modeling, oriented-object approach.

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to explain why object oriented data modeling is more popular than relational data modeling. A data model is a logic organization of the real world objects (entities), constraints on them, and the relationships among objects. Relational model is very simple since data in represented in the form of relations that are depicted by use of two-dimensional tables. Rows in the table represent records and Columns represent attributes of the entity. The basic concept in the relational model is that of a relation. In object-oriented model main construct is an object. As in relational model, there are relations similarly we have objects in OO data modeling. So first thing in OO model is to identify the objects for the systems. Examining the problem statement can do it. Other important task is to identify the various operations for these objects. It is easy to relate the objects to the real world entity. The object-oriented approach has proved to be especially fruitful in application areas, such as the design of geographical information systems which have a richly structured knowledge domain and are associated with multimedia databases. Relational data modeling is different from Object Oriented data modeling because it focuses solely on data while object oriented data models focuses on both the behavior and data aspects of your domain. OODBMS are faster than relational DBMS because data isn’t stored in relational rows and columns but as objects. Objects have a many to many relationship and are accessed by the use of pointers.

Abstract:

The article provides an overview of projects, technologies, software products developed to implement the ideas of an object-oriented approach to database design. In the 80s of the 20th century, there were many projects devoted to the idea of OODB, many experts expected that in the near future relational databases would be crowded out with objectoriented ones. Despite the impressive number of projects conducted by both teams of scientists and commercial companies focused on practical implementation, there was no clear formulation of an object-oriented data model, each team presented its own vision of applying object-oriented concepts to database design. The absence of a universal data model, with a well-developed mathematical apparatus (as in the case of relational databases), is still the main problem in the distribution of an OODBMS. However, the use of relational DBMS raises a lot of problems that are most acutely felt in areas such as computer-aided design, computer-aided production, knowledge-based systems, and others. OODB allow to combine the program code and data, to avoid differences between the representations of information in the database and the application program, as a result of which modern developers show interest in them. There are a lot of OODBMS, but they cannot compete with the largest storage organization systems.

AbstractThis study comprises a technical assessment of Database Management Systems (DBMS), which may be of use in the analysis of data obtained from human brain mapping procedures. Due to the large expansion of the neuroimaging field, the use of specialized database software to store and process neuroimages and their attached components is inevitable. The advent of multiple software products, a wealth of technical terms and a wide variety of other applications make the choice of a suitable program sometimes difficult. Through the inclusion of some basic and pertinent criteria (e.g., performance, ease of opening, standardization and portability), we present a descriptive comparison of 12 DBMSs currently available in the commercial and public domain. We have compared and tested three main architecture models which are currently available and assessed their potential applications for imaging purposes: relational, object-oriented, and hybrid. The findings of our study demonstrated that the Illustra™ software was the best suited for a neuroimaging environment because of its intrinsic ability to handle complex and large objects, such as 3D volumes or geometric structures.

Abstract:

The work is devoted to the development of spatial databases for the assessment of agricultural land. The geodatabase is aimed at geoinformation support of assessment, agroecological typing (groups, types of land) of agricultural lands, development of adaptive-landscape farming systems. The paper presents the structure of the database of regional and local levels. Three different ways of user interaction with the AgroGIS database are proposed. For practical implementation, it is proposed to use the object-functional approach to database development, based on the use of cloud data storage technology in the DBMS SQlite. Background. Geoinformation support of agronomic geoinformation systems (AgroGIS) is aimed at assessing natural-territorial conditions and environmental factors in agrolandscapes, development of adaptive landscape farming systems. AgroGIS geodatabases serve to store, analyze and present spatial information on agricultural land. As shown by an analysis of literary sources, the term “geodatabase” was formed more than twenty years ago. At the same time different geodatabases are known: archaeological, cartographic, soil and others. They differ in the object of research, structure and content, as well as the way of data organization. This indicates the relevance of the topics of the present research. Purpose. The purpose of the work is to develop the structure and content of the geodatabase agronomic GIS. Materials and methods. The object-functional approach to database development, which is supported by object-oriented database management systems (DBMS) and classical relational DBMS, is used. The essence of this approach is to implement functional tasks taking into account the needs of the user. Results. The main components of geodatabase in the form of separate sets of spatial classes (Climate, Relief, Soil, Vegetation, Hydrography, Agrolandscape) are proposed. At the same time the paper shows the need for practical implementation of agronomic geoinformation geodatabases from several aspects. Conclusion. In the development of spatial databases of agronomic GIS the most important feature is the ability to constantly update information in the form of temporal component. Practical implementation of temporal geodatabases is possible with the use of non-relational database management systems, as well as methods of processing big data (Big Data).

Abstract:

Physicians faced with diagnostic and therapeutic decisions must reason about clinical features that change over time. Database-management systems (DBMS) can increase access to patient data, but most systems are limited in their ability to store and retrieve complex temporal information. The Time-Oriented Databank (TOD) model, the most widely used data model for medical database systems, associates a single time stamp with each observation. The proper analysis of most clinical data requires accounting for multiple concurrent clinical events that may alter the interpretation of the raw data. Most medical DBMSs cannot retrieve patient data indexed by multiple clinical events. We describe two logical extensions to TOD-based databases that solve a set of temporal reasoning problems we encountered in constructing medical expert systems. A key feature of both extensions is that stored data are partitioned into groupings, such as sequential clinical visits, clinical exacerbations, or other abstract events that have clinical decision-making relevance. The temporal network (TNET) is an object-oriented database that extends the temporal reasoning capabilities of ONCOCIN, a medical expert system that provides chemotherapy advice. TNET uses persistent objects to associate observations with intervals of time during which “an event of clinical interest” occurred. A second object-oriented system, called the extended temporal network (ETNET), is both an extension and a simplification of TNET. Like TNET, ETNET uses persistent objects to represent relevant intervals; unlike the first system, however, ETNET contains reasoning methods (rules) that can be executed when an event “begins”, and that are withdrawn when that event “concludes”. TNET and ETNET capture temporal relationships among recorded information that are not represented in TOD-based databases. Although they do not solve all temporal reasoning problems found in medical decision making, these new structures enable patient database systems to encode complex temporal relationships, to store and retrieve patient data based on multiple clinical contexts and, in ETNET, to modify the reasoning methods available to an expert system based on the onset or conclusion of specific clinical events.

This paper includes a comprehensive case that details a simplified business system for the Drifters Snowboard Company. We include a description of the business processes of Drifters relative to the data needs which includes an entity-relationship (ER) dia-gram and a unified modeling language (UML) diagram. Both diagrams are con-structed to compare and contrast each method and to give those that perform modeling tasks a sense of some of the real world issues that are involved.In the past ten years, object-orientation has become viable and important in both the modeling and implementation arenas. Programming languages such as C++ and Java incorporate object-oriented (O-O) features and database management systems (DBMS) such as O2, ObjectStore, Poet, etc. and are advertised as "pure" O-O DBMS. Conversely, some systems such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase, SQL Serve,r etc. have incorporated some O-O features into essentially relational database technology in order to remain competitive.On the modeling dimension, the entity-relationship (E/R) diagramming method with its notable variants has been dominant for more than 20 years. This is probably due to its simplicity and its power to accurately represent the data needs of nearly all applica-tions. In the last 10 years however, O-O modeling has become increasingly popular because it correlates nicely to O-O implementations and because its modeling power is requisite for the greater complexity inherit in contemporary information systems. Re-cently, UML has become the de facto O-O modeling variant, so hence, we illustrate UML in the same case we use ER diagramming. The comparison and contrast is useful to those who are migrating to UML data modeling.

Basic Japanese E-learning application is computer software intended as a tool that provides convenience and practicality in learning basic Japanese such as recognizing hiragana, katakana and is equipped with grammar and general conversation. The creation of an E-learning system in the field of learning is one thing that is expected to improve the quality and understanding of the general public in learning Japanese. The software development uses system development modeling with the Prototype Methodology, the analysis and design stages use the Object Oriented Methodology from Coad and Yourdon with modeling using UML, while the implementation uses the PHP programming language with the MYSQL Database Management System (DBMS). The result achieved is a learning application that provides convenience and practicality in understanding Japanese. This learning application is supported by multimedia elements so as to provide a more attractive and interactive appearance so that students can carry out learning activities more fun.

Meningkatnya volume arsip dari hari ke hari menjadi permasalahan yang serius karena dibutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk melakukan pencarian arsip yang diinginkan dan sulitnya memonitor arsip di berbagai bidang pada instansi. Abstract:

A lot of problems often occur in production monitoring, because companies still rely on manual processing system. Therefore, this research is objected to facilitate the monitoring of production processes, to minimize human error in the production process, to make automatic the process of existing transactions, toclarify the duties of production monitoring of an acrylic manufacturer. The research methodology used is literature study by reviewing previous theories and studies related to the topic. Furthermore, analysis method by studying the running system of the company as well as evaluating the distributed questionnaire and analyzing the results. And finally is the design method using the Object-Oriented with UML. The research resulted in an application design of a production monitoring system. The result of this design has been implemented into the selected DBMS. The new monitoring system helps monitoring the production system properly, as well as makes the transaction run systematically. The each production process starting from project orders, sample orders, sales orders, material releases, production, assembly, and delivery order within can be monitored quickly and properly. The activity reports can also be generated more systematically and comprehensibly.

The number of nomands in Karawang Regency until 2018 recorded 1.7 milion inhabitans. The nomands wo live in Karawang need a temporary residence or boarding house. During this time migrants in search of boarding house information by asking friends, asking the surrounding community and visiting one by one the location of boarding houses. This method is consiidered ineffective because it takes a lot of time to get the approciate boarding house information. In this study the authors made a mobile application E-Marketpalce boarding house in Karawang Regency. The system design method in this thesis research uses the Software Deplopment Life Cycle (SDLC) method with the waterfall model. This E-Marketplace mobile application was created using a bootstrap web platform, a programming language using PHP with a Codeigniter framework, Database Management System (DBMS) using MySQL and object-oriented modeling namely Unified Modeling Language (UML). The result of this study can be conclded that by making a mobile application E-Marketplace boarding house in Karawang regency that can help to facilitate boarding owners in marketing their boarding house. Indah Surya Furniture Shop still uses simple media in carrying out its business activities. Product promotion still uses brochures, banners and radios. While the product ordering process still uses WhatsApp and telephone, and for the sales report it is still made manually so that simply the media used indicates that the sales results have not been optimized. In order to increase sales results the system should be able to promote products easily and can order products quickly. Therefor, a web-based e-commerce system is used to help owners promote and market their products. The presence of an e-commerce system is expected to help owners market their products, and can help consumers buy products according to their needs. The design of the e-commerce system uses UML modeling (Unified Modeling Language) by using object-oriented visualization diagrams. The programming language used is the PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) programming language based on CodeIgniter and Javascript, with MySQL as the Database Management System (DBMS) and Sublime Text 2 as editors. The resulting web-based e-commerce system can market products in a wider area and can provide information about products quickly, and with this e-commerce system consumers will be easier to order products. Over the last five years, a great deal of research effort has been concentrated on the development of a new data model ISO 14649, informally known as STEP-NC. It has been strongly argued that STEP-NC has huge implications on the integration of the computer-aided design/computer-aided process planning/computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAPP/CAM) (CAx) systems, giving the opportunity to realize interoperable computer numerical control (CNC) manufacturing. This is largely owing to the data model, which provides the capability to revolutionize the current state of the art in CNC manufacturing by offering a bi-directional interface with a high-level description of the geometrical and manufacturing information. This paper provides a view of how these STEP-NC compliant information models can be used to support the wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) CAD to the CNC process chain. The models are based on part 13 of the ISO 14649 standard, which is dedicated to the WEDM process, together with part 10 of the standard, which specifies the general machining information. The information models have been identified and their structures have been defined and modelled using the unified modelling language (UML). A STEP-NC compliant WEDM CAx prototype system, based on the Java and the object-oriented database management system (DBMS) ObjectStore, has been constructed with an example case study to demonstrate the information models.

The problem statement is to analyze the technologies available on the market, which deal with business analyst systems, their potential use for decision support systems, and to identify the main stages of business analyst for enterprises. Business intelligence (BI) is information that can be obtained from data contained in the operational systems of a firm, enterprise, corporation, or from external sources. The BI can help the management of a company make the best decision in the chosen sphere of human activity faster, and, consequently, win the competition in the market for goods and services. A decision support system (DSS) which uses business intelligence, is an automated structure designed to assist professionals in making decisions in a complex environment and to objectively analyze a subject area. The decision support system is the result of the integration of management information systems and database management systems (DBMS). The internal development of BI is more cost-effective. The methods used are Structured Analysis and Design Technique and Object-oriented methods. The results of the research: the analysis of the possibilities was conducted and recommendations relating to the use of BI within DSS were given. Competition between BI software in business analysts reduces the cost of products created making them accessible to end-users – producers, traders and corporations.

Abstract:

Rewriting and executing codes violate the SOLID principle of object-oriented programming. Robotics being an emerging platform, it becomes hard to write the code from scratch. We focus on using what is already built in as a Robotics Component instead of writing something from scratch. The intention is to minimize development effort and produce the desired result on time without rewriting the software components. By allowing functionalities of different components to be brought into a single component, we are saving the time required for code conversion or replication of functionality written in one language to another. So an architecture with these properties seems ideal for integrating different components. Integration is one of the most fundamental problems in designing autonomous mobile robots, especially those interacting with people in real-life settings. This paper presents an approach to building complex systems from different robotics packages available as open source components (PLAYER, STAGE, GAZEBO, CARMEN). DBUS is a message-oriented protocol for communicating among processes running on the same desktop. SOA provides access to the services over the network and adds novelty to our application.

Waiting time problem, especially for out-patients, is an exceptionally serious issue in public hospitals across the globe. This study observes that with a system that allows subscribers of NHIS to seek medical attention in any NHIS designated hospitals, the waiting time problem will be a major challenge. A perusal of the literature shows that this problem stems substantially from the practice of fixing patients appointments without regard to specific time periods a patient is likely to receive attention on the designated day. The problem is further exacerbated by the practice of fixing such appointments without recourse to the number of doctors who will be available and in some cases, the time to be spent at some facilities. To address this problem, this study modelled an appointment scheduling system that took into consideration the number of doctors, the number of patients and the likely time it will take to complete consultations and the time it will take to complete some procedures or checks at available facility, in some instances. The study then translated this conceptual solution into a formal design using an object-oriented analysis and design methodology. The designed solution was implemented using suitable programming and scripting languages (Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS), different software tools (MySQL DBMS, Apache Tomcat Webserver) and third party Application Programming Interfaces (API’s). The test results of the developed system vividly demonstrated the proper functioning of the desired features and functions specified. Kemudian digunakan metode analisis dengan mempelajari sistem yang sedang berjalan pada perusahaan serta menganalisis hasil kuesioner yang telah disebarkan dan metode perancangan yaitu dengan pendekatan Object-Oriented menggunakan berbagai macam diagram yang ada di model UML. Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan rancangan aplikasi sistem pelayanan dan controlling. Hasil rancangan ini untuk implementasi dengan memakai Database Management System (DBMS) yang telah dipilih. Dengan sistem pengawasan data laporan hasil transaksi penjualan yang dirancang untuk perusahaan ini, proses transaksi dapat berjalan secara sistematis. Selain itu, sistem informasi pelayanan dan controlling berbasis web dapat digunakan untuk memonitor hasil penjualan, proses transaksi penjualan pengawasan pelayanan terhadap customer maupun calon mitra usaha dapat dipantau dengan cepat sehingga laporan kegiatan proses transaksi penjualan dapat dibuat lebih sistematis dan jelas.
